He uses a b.s. mind map which he reads off the the majority of the class. "Try hard hip guy" defines him as a whole.
Used Facebook applications as assignments, Lot of group work, lots of Power-point slides!
He was extremely easy marker, if you at least half-ass try you will do good in the class.
Best group project ever on facebook applications.
I found the mind maps easy to understand and it taught me a whole new way to study in other classes. It keeps all of the information in the course organized and if anyone can keep an open mind about learning something new, they would appriciate the mind maps as well. As an added bonus he's nice to look at for a semester ;)
Super easy marker. His class was an easy A
Kris is a nice guy and he's very understanding. But he takes a very long time to mark. A one page test took longer than a month to be marked. I also feel like I didn't learn a lot in this course. He didn't teach the concepts very well and I felt unprepared for the quizes. If you put effort in you will get the marks. But I felt the class was useless
Alright class, the textbook helps for the quizzes, and you use it for in class exercises. You'll have to wait for assignments to get marked but they are really easy to do. Not much direction to the group paper but if you ask questions he's helpful. Easy marker for sure, definitely an easy A!
Great teacher, great class. You could tell he genuinely cared about making the material interesting and comprehensible to everyone. Great attitude about teaching, highly recommended!
all i have to say is i wish he taught WAY more courses, also.. Extremely good looking.
This guy changed my life. He teaches his students to achieve new heights. Kris himself has a masters in accounting but that didn't stop him from Opening up a marketing firm and becoming one of Albertas top enuteapanhes. He tells you from the beginning teaching is his way of giving back to the community, He doesn't have to teach, but luckly he does!
The man is beautiful, inside and out!
Worst teacher I've ever had. Sure, it was the easiest A I've ever gotten, but it was clear that he didn't care about the class. All he did was talk about his business and how great it was, and didn't teach us anything. We didn't get the mark for a paper we did before reading break until after exams, and I'm not convinced he even read it in the end.
Awesome prof! Wish he taught more courses.
Kris is a great professor, i took Business communication (3210) and it was a blast. He is a very inspirational professor as he does a lot more than just teach. It wasn't a easy A but if you put in the work you'll likey end up with a good great.
I can't begin to explain how amazing Kris is. Super down to Earth and intelligent professor which changed the way I think about business. He is very humble and very knowledgeable. Cannot begin to tell you how much I enjoyed his class. Great marker, and his teaching style is very progress. WHAT A LEGEND!!! TAKE HIS CLASS!
Awesome prof. Would take again
Awesome prof!
Great prof!
Thank you for amazing lectures and discussions! I learned a lot and benefited from your course!
Thank you for all that you do for your students! I really enjoyed your class and was actually excited to come to class every day. I am very thankful for passionate professors like you!
Kris was one of my professors. From the first video session, he fostered an environment for student success. He went above & beyond in everything he did; the way he taught online, the assignments, discussion board, & Kris made himself available for 1 on 1 consultations providing highly valuable advice, guidance & direction for the group project.
I took UNIV 201 at the U of C (very unique & highly recommended course). Kris was the smartest, kindest, & most caring human being in my university experience. He does more for his students than any other professor I have learned from. I idolize how dedicated he is & goes out of his way to help with school & life even after the semester is over!
Kris was my favorite professor! From the first class, he told us this course would be unlike any other weve experienced. We only had a few lectures & was very hands on. He revealed to me my real potential & helped me realize that I really can do anything I set my mind to. View our course projects on Medium dot com slash technologyforentrepreneurs
Kris was an awesome prof! He was incredibly open-minded and sensitive to students who came from different backgrounds & those with unique needs. His enthusiasm for entrepreneurship, innovation, & technology was infectious. This course opened my mind to whats possible & Im working on my first tech startup. Kris is advising me even after the course
I don't know what his classes were like in person, but his online course offered at the UofC is an utter joke. He teaches us nothing, expects you to write 10 page papers and issues arbitrary grades without justification or rubrics
Kris's online class was a joke. He provided 0 actual feedback aside from copy and pasting the rubric. When we had a "feedback" meeting for the project, it was obvious he didn't even look at our project beforehand. Takes months to mark single page assignments and cares more about promoting his podcast than actually helping students.
Kris is a lazy Prof. His feedback consisted of copy the rubric into an email with nothing to contructivly help you understand what you did wrong. He started the semester by saying just read the textbook and then we never heard from in for over a month. He took real acceptation of online class by basically take the semester off. Don't take him.
Kris is incredibly slow to grade items and provides the excuse that he is occupied with other students/classes he is teaching. Courses are primarily on your own but he is accessible outside of class through email/text. He's a nice guy but has too much on the go to show genuine care for his student and the classes he leads.
kris is lazy. dont take this class with him im begging you. you would rather have a prof that tells you what to do in a paper than someone who doesnt explain ANYTHING. dont waste your tuition on this prof.
This prof acts like his class is your WHOLE life. He gives us 4-5 projects every week and it takes 1-2 hours just for reading his articles. On top of that, you have to watch 4-5 videos that are 25 mins long. You get three quizzes per week and in each unit, you have to do projects that take a whole week to do. Lazy prof. Not sure how he has 4/5.
I've had my fair share of bad professors but this is the first time where it's been so bad I had to take time out of my day to write a review. He is incredibly lazy and takes over a month to mark basic assignments that could be marked in a week. Would not recommend.
Don't worry about attending class - he doesn't teach anything. If you do attend class - be prepared to listen to him complain about how busy he is, how lazy students are, and that you should listen to his podcast. Don't worry about what grade you get - he'll take half the semester to get it back to you. Download the textbook, its free if you need
Kris is alright, the learn-on-your own style gives me extra flexibility that I like. I would prefer having some more support from him and his lectures are rambly and disorganized. He's pretty quick on the email and generally helpful though. I agree he seems to be a bit overwhelmed. Can't complain generally, I feel these others exaggerate.
Kris was an amazing prof & also an amazing person. He's so genuine that he helps you an situation you are in. You can talk to him as a friend. His class was amazing he's such an inspiring person. My only wish was that I took his class in person. His stories in class were always a treat. He may seem strict but just talk to him cause he always helps!
Kris is a welcoming professor who cares about his students and takes the time to help them when needed. His class is easy if you take the time to read the textbook, he is always available for help when needed so take advantage of that. He gives good feedback and will give feedback on assignments before you hand them in. 10/10 take classes with him!
This whole post can be summed up by saying: Kris never actually taught the class for this online semester. The only meetings or videos he does are to go over outlines of the course, exams and projects. Other than that 100% of course content was me reading the textbook. That said, this is not a hard class to pass, take if asynchronous is your jam.
I have learned so much in my course with Kris this semester. The Google Meet sessions were great in figuring out how to approach real life scenarios and this really helped with my learning beyond the textbook theory. He is patient & eager to help. Im so happy to have gotten into his class as I know the other profs are hardcore. Highly recommend!
His teaching methods are great. Very clear & concise. Doesnt waste your time explaining meaningless background info & always lectures with the intent to help you understand the material. Recommending Kris is a no brainer! Just go read reviews of Brenda Lang (shes the main prof teaching BComm). Kris is one of the best profs Ive ever had at MRU!
You are amazing at what you do! Your passion and dedication is beyond words! Thank you for getting me through this hard semester, I honestly would have never passed if it was not for your help! Thank you so much once again!
Kris is an absolute life saver! 5 stars is not enough to describe how great of a prof he is. He is very helpful & truly cares about his students. If it wasnt for him I would have failed. I was struggling in my personal life, especially with the craziness of the pandemic, & Kris did his best to accommodate my situation so I could pass the course.
I took the Creativity in the Workplace thinking it would be an easy A. It was pretty easy but required me to put in the work. Check out Medium dot com for course blog. Kris made it self paced so it was a nice break from my regular work. His course revealed to me my real potential & helped me realize that I really can do anything I set my mind to.
STAY AWAY
I would not even consider Kris a teacher. He "taught" a Masters course and didn't host a single lecture. He has a short temper and makes fun of students when they try to speak up. Based our midterm on topics we had never been taught. Don't walk, run from this teacher.
I do not understand the recent poor reviews for Kris. Myself and others found him to be very respectful, kind and a good prof. He sometimes tends to go off course during lectures which requires you to read the book. He marks very easily and always answers emails. Best business communications prof at mru.
One of the most arrogant and mean-spirited professors I've ever had, and for nothing. I learned nothing in this class and did not come out a better writer. Refused to offer help without snide comments and being way too vague. I have never had a prof I disliked enough to write a review about until I had Kris as a prof. Avoid at all costs.
I don't know why his rating is so high... STAY AWAY
Paying so much to teach myself everything
Horrible misogynist lectures
Spent part of our lecture explaining how the wage gap only exists because women don't try hard enough, and spoke in a very condescending way when called out for it. I feel like I have to teach myself everything, some assignment instructions (worth 2-5%) are between 5-13 pages, extremely convoluted, and lectures give very little course substance.
For the GP worth 25% of our grade, he asked us to send him a draft and come in for feedback. During the meeting it was obvious he had not read the draft and didn't give any constructive feedback. Which sucked, cause we really needed it because of how confusing the assignment was. Told us to "book an appointment"... We were AT the appointment!
Awful teacher. Stay away!! He was VERY vague on all his instructions and never gave feedback that was helpful. Everything was “taught” by the textbook. Took him more than a month to grade any assignment handed in and never gave feedback on how to improve. I swear he just lectures so he can brag about himself and his “achievements”.
Horrible prof. He doesn't care about his career as a professor at all. He half asses everything and takes all semester to mark anything. I am convinced this dude is writing fake 5 star reviews on here, if you notice all the good reviews are from the same days. And a lot of them sound like they have been written by the same person.
worst prof ever. Didn't teach a damn thing all semester.
i dont even know my mark in this class 1 week before finals because he takes forever to mark. He doesnt really seem interested in teaching. Its obvious this is a side gig for him. TAKE ANYONE ELSE!
The absolute worst prof ever by a long shot. Does not provide any feedback, takes forever to mark anything. He does not take his teaching career seriously and it's evident from his tone in class to his attitude towards students. Everything to him is a self-marketing opportunity. Teaches business communication but actually awful at communicating.
To begin with, this guy should not be a professor. He barely teaches anything, takes FOREVER to grade assignments, does not provide feedback, and if you try to seek extra help, he will talk in circles, confusing students further. During his lectures, all he does is brag about his past achievements. Save yourself and don't take his class.
Worst prof ever. Stay AWAY. He hasnt marked assignments and tests from the first half of the semester yet and finals are done. Pathetic excuse of a prof.
Most incompetent professor i have ever had. I dont even think he fully understands the material he is "teaching". Very slow marker and gives incredibly vague answers to questions about class work.
Kris is not a good prof, all the negative reviews are spot on. The semester is over and we are still waiting for marks from February. Honestly seems like he does not care at all about his job as a prof.
If you value your education and money please keep far away from this bum.
Didnt learn anything from this course, prof is a joke.
I don't understand how he can call himself a professor or why MRU keeps him employed. Did not teach a single thing all semester, took forever to grade assignments/tests, and was clearly bored and annoyed to have to "teach" this class. Terrible. I learned nothing. Stay away unless you want to pay someone hundreds of dollars just to teach yourself.
Absolutely terrible teacher avoid at all costs
Kris is really amazing and he has so much experience that he shares with the class to benefit everyone! He is always accessible for feedback and questions and very flexible. I really enjoyed his lectures and was never bored in his class. The class should be pretty easy if you put in some effort and show up to lectures.
Kris never bothers to teach anything, he literally just makes you read the textbook and test you at the end of the semester with lots of writing. In addition, he does not mark the assignments that fast.
prof doesn't properly explain what is necessary or needed for the course. Not sure what I was supposed to take out of this course. Took this course in the Winter as an in person class but only met three times- we had to rewrite our whole final paper because we did not understand the assignment or what was required. Avoid at all costs!!
So shit this man reeks famo if you hate your life take him
I dont understand how this prof has any 5 star ratings. I suggest reading his reviews for UofC & same thing there. He is terrible, arrogant, goes off on a tangent and does not teach a single thing that has to do with the assignments/tests. The worse prof I have ever had at MRU. If I knew I, would have waited a whole semester for another professor.
he wasn't very present during our class times. he would give textbook readings and assign work based on those instead of teaching; however, for the final assignment, there was good help to improve your grade.
He Teaches communication, yet is a very poor communicator. He doesn't teach info needed for quizzes and he doesn't give feedback on the smaller writing assignments. He has a critique that is worth a decent portion of your grade that he gives 0 background information for. Comes across as arrogant and uninterested in the progress of his students.
Decent enough prof. The class is understandable and from what I've heard Kris is the best prof for the class. Must show up for class or you won't understand based off slides, hope you don't get sick cause you'll miss a lot. Does not give much if any feedback.
I know Kris is going to read this... Kris your class is okay at best really. I know you ask a lot of questions and want questions but in all honesty, the class was mediocre. I get that you have other tasks at UOFC, but you can't sacrifice my ability to get grades in a timely manner because you decided you like money. Anyways, okay prof.
I'm taking another class with Kris next semester too. He's an awesome prof and responds to email very quickly. This class is very easy to get a good grade if you put in the work and Kris is very understanding and willing to help you out and give you extra marks if you show you can earn them.
Kris is the best and gives lots of opportunities for you to do well and get the best grade possible. Just show up to class and put in the effort and you will do well. He is also very understanding and responds quick to emails.
Kris is honestly a nice teacher, just don't take this class too seriously. There is a LOT of homework in this class - like weekly quizzes, assignments, and mini projects - but none of it is very hard. Just be prepared to read the articles every week and participate a bit, and you'll do fine.
I took MGT 2081 - Professional communication skills online with Kris through the University of Lethbridge. I have to say it was the class I enjoyed the least in my entire degree. I received a B in this class, but I feel like I learned nothing at all. If I had 2000 words it might be enough to complain but I cannot do it in 350. Terrible class.
Loved his class, he is amazing and understanding. he responds to emails very quickly as well. highly recommend
absolute worst prof and person I have met. Don't expect any feedback only horrible grades that he will not explain :) He does not care about student success and frankly gets pissed off if you have any questions which he can't answer anyway. He sucks, he is rude, and fosters an environment of failure :) do urself a favour & don't ever take his class
Kris is a great prof. This class is hard as it is but material learned in class reflects the assignments you will be doing. He gives good feedback on your work and responds very quickly to emails. This is a very easy class if you attend lectures but if you don't it may be confusing. Work shops you do for it set you up to be prepared for the tests.
I am not too sure what people are saying about there being heavy quizzes. The readings you do before the quiz are literally so short and the group work is so easy. Put in the effort and go to class and you will get an A. Yes he wrote the readings himself but they align with the course. May seem like a lot but it truly is not...
Kris is a great professor and he is very easy to approach if you have questions. The grading criteria of this class is hard but if you follow instructions and ask questions when confused you will do good. I always felt comfortable coming to class and raising my hand to ask questions. This class also has no exams which is a plus
Honestly an easy class if you go to class when you need too. I bet the ppl saying he is rude or arrogant are probably rude and arrogant because i've never had an issue with him in the two classes i've taken with Kris. Do homework based on his rubric and you'll do great. Also for the group project - make sure to start it early or you'll regret it.
Kris was an excellent prof. I believe his rating doesn't give you a good evaluation. He was easy to talk to, easy to reach out to and very approachable. Would definitely take his class again!
Inconsistent in his grading, slow to grade assignments, doesn't offer good feedback. Lectures don't align with tests and assignments.
Boring mandatory class. Learned nothing new in the course. However, learned the valuable life-changing information that Kris teaches at UofC, and being a prof is pretty much a side gig.
Honestly, he seems more invested in his business and his U of C classes. Gives poor feedback, classes are bit dull. Expected of MRU. He is a good listner at least..
he's so picky about everything. when he answers question's he makes it seems like you should already know the answer, doesn't give you a yes or no. he's conceited and has said questionable things. he has very strict rules for presentations, everyone needs to be cohesive with their dress code and you can't read off notes. he has a attendance sheet.
Kris is not a good prof. His feedback is useless, takes forever to grade assignments, and nothing new was learned from the class. One benefit is attendance marks, participation is worth 20% so that is a nice grade boost. He is kind to students when it comes to being sick, and responsive in emails, but that is it. Textbook mandatory for full marks.
be prepared to lose huge marks on assignments due to poorly described assignments and lectures composed of him reading chatGPT for the entire class
Slow at getting grades back. Two group projects that left a lot of us confused. He can be patronizing with his tone and makes students feel not comfortable to ask for help. Profs should make students feel supported and welcome, not less than for asking for further instructions.
He was very accommodating and understanding if you're sick and have to miss class. He's also very accessible outside of class, as he always responded to my emails very quickly. I'd take another class with him. He's not too much of a tough grader, as long as you follow the outline and include everything necessary.
Kris is a great prof! I was nervous because I've never taken any business courses before, but I took this class and Kris marked fairly easy and was approachable as long as you put in effort. There was no exams, just a lot of assignments.
Terrible d2l setup, barely elaborates on assignments are needed to be done. His emails look like he used ChatGPT to half bs a response. Takes forever to mark. Easy course overall but very incompetent professor.
This course is a complete joke and should not be mandatory or even an option. Brenda takes this FAR to seriously (considering this "knowledge" is not useful or practical in the actual industry). Useless course but Kris is better than Brenda so I'm all for that. Easier marker, but be prepared to learn ONLY about Kris, guy loves himself.
Kris came off as a good guy, but you quickly realize how full of himself he is. His participation is 20%, but if you don't go he will purposefully mark harder. On top of this, his rubrics are super unclear as are his expectations. This class with Kris was not enjoyable, avoid unless you want to hear him yap all class about how good he thinks he is.
Really long lectures with graded attendance about pretty common sense things. Massive ego, Kris loves that he has a room full of paying students to listen to him talk about himself and other nonsense. Most emails he sends look copy and pasted from chatGPT. Confusing grader with poor feedback and takes forever to mark.
Kris is probably the best professor for MGMT 3210 out of other professors teaching this course. He does care about his students performance and will help them succeed. I don't get why a lot of people are complaining when they are getting grades in the A range. Yes, attendance is mandatory for this course, but view it as a free 20% grade boost.
Kris is the most egotistical professor I have ever had. Get ready to spend hundreds of dollars just listening to how cool he is and how incredible he is with AI/ChatGPT. Unfortunately, he is the best professor for this course so if you have to choose between him or Brenda Lang, you take Kris 100%.
He was consistently late to class. He also talked about himself for most of the classes and really didn't teach that much content. I don't think anyone really learned much from this course but we now all know about him and his views.
Kris is just cringe all in all. He's full of himself. Always brag about how good he is as a prof. Have favoritism in the class. Unclear grading. But hey, atleast he's not Brenda Lang!! Class is useless but I would take Kris over Brenda. Overall, would not recommend to take Kris as your prof.
Kris is not a bad person personally but no doubt has an ego. The course content is stale and not very useful, just a course you need for any business program, but its bearable - He does take awhile to grade and does not give feedback, just so your aware. If you have a choice between Kris and Brenda for this class, take it with Kris 100% though.
Kris is a super fun professor who makes class enjoyable and exciting to come to. Rather than sitting in a desk for a whole class taking lecture notes, we get to do interactive group work and class work. This class is definitely for those who are social people who enjoy talking with others. I would highly recommend this course to anyone.
Kris is an awesome educator who truly cares about his students. His interactive and collaborative atmosphere in their classes encourages active participation and makes learning enjoyable. I also took MGMT 3210 with Kris, and would recommend his courses.
Guy got a massive ego. He thinks his assignments are the most important in the world, likes to talk about himself and how well he uses AI, I'm not sure what this class is supposed to accomplish but what a waste of money. Still better than Brenda Lang though.
He makes the class lecture heavy with mandatory attendance but the content does not warrant it. Mandatory textbook use for an easy communications class should be illegal. Simple class but his instructions are unclear. He will say one thing in class that contradicts his instructions in the assignment outline.
The ratings that Kris receives are not reflective of him at all. Kris genuinley wants his students to succeed and he sets up students for success in MGMT 2275 and BCOMM. If you want to do good show up, read instructions and talk to Kris outside of class. He is happy to help. Take this specific class with friends for a fun semester.
Reading the other ratings I was thinking to myself "Did everyone have a different Kris Hans?" Kris is a chill teacher and gives great feedback. He wants his students to do good, and for quizzes he gives us tips before we take it. Plus, he encourages AI. Heads up if you don't want a final exam, and want a chill class, take this one with Kris Hans.
Kris's class was interesting and allows you to work in groups to expand your learning. He is available for help outside of class and is very knowledgeable about whats covered. The textbooks free online and the chapters are short. Attendance is mandatory but thats because you complete tasks each class.
Probably the easiest course but the worst prof I have ever seen. Participation marks worth 20% of the class where you have to listen to this guy talk about himself half the time and briefly explain the course the other half. does the minimum required for grading and only returns the grades to meet evaluation deadlines.
Half of the grades from this class is still unknown with 3 days left in the exam period. Rude, ego is massive, plays favorites, and cannot be bothered to teach something useful in his lectures. AI use is crazy, most of his emails are from chatgpt, and please take any other professor but him. His class is disorganized and expecations are unclear.
Kris' class actively works to decolonize university education. He takes an interesting approach by offering a free online textbook and having students complete group tasks each class instead of listening to lectures. The readings felt heavy at first, but then I realized the grades were based on completion, not relevance to the course materials.
Kris is a great prof, and he's quite considerate. He made this class very easygoing, and the workload was a lot, but it required 0 brain power to do the assignments. If you have a heavy semester, I highly recommend taking this course with him. Kris is a chill laid back guy, and he always gave us many opportunities to receive bonus marks.
Slowest lecturer in MRU. His grading criteria is so unclear and his feedback is so late that it can no longer be used to improve on the following assessments. Take another prof for this class.
Nothing will get marked until the very last day. How is one supposed to improve during the semester if feedback isn't received throughout?
Damn, surprised to see all the bad ratings. Only downside about his class was the lectures were dry. Everything else was pretty straightforward and easy. No final, just a final project. If you follow the rubric you will easily get an A. Something Kris could work on is grading stuff in a timely manner, apart from that he is a good prof.
Damn Kris, I expected so much better. For a class that is literally pointless, he makes it much harder than it needs to be. He is incredibly self absorbed, all his emails are literally chatgpt. He did not post final grades until 3 days before they were due. Massive Ego, choose peace and take this class with Shawna Boyko if you can, thank me later.
The professor has a big ego, but the course content is bearable. Attendance is mandatory, so use Unstuck AI and other tools to make the most of it. Avoid Brenda Lang if you can - Kris is the better option.
his outline is pretty clear cut and from what I remember, participation makes up a significant portion of the grade (maybe 30%?) but literally all you have to do is show up and you'll get 100 on that. The class is a bore but it's super straight forward and should be an easy A for anyone willing to put in a shred of effort
Kris does have a huge superiority complex. I found that he likes to intimidate students to feel better about himself and fuel his ego. Don't try to ask him questions or engage in conversation with him or he will make you look silly in front of the class. I don't feel that I learned anything from the course, unfortunately.
Kris is a very chill prof. There was no ‘big ego'. He is just trying to engage students - any personal stories were short/relevant/entertaining. I recommend getting the textbook, it definitely helped with a couple assignments. Overall, very easy course, don't get discouraged by the crowded D2L, as it was initially overwhelming.
he has a bit of an ego and the lectures are boring. attendance is mandatory as there is attendance daily but if you show up its an easy grade. i feel like he makes the class a bit more confusing and difficult than it should be. also btw, he will not grade your work until the end of the semester. its april and i just got february assignment grades.
Overall, the class was easy. The professor was kind and chill and helped a lot of students. He made the class materials very understandable due to his teaching style. As long as you put in the effort, you will do well.
Kris is an egomaniac who does not teach, but instead tells. This is not what a university education should look like. He provided little feedback on any work you did and his tests were harder than they should have been due to them asking questions that had nothing to do with the course or were too interpretive. Avoid him.
Kris Hans repeatedly misses MRU policy deadlines, ignores course outlines, skips objectives, and overuses generative AI. He gives little feedback, dismisses questions, and relies on unsupported word-of-mouth. Keep all communication in writing. For Winter 2026, consider avoiding or dropping his classes.
Kris was engaging and gave insightful feedback
He's a decent guy, he left mid way however, not sure if he'll come back. Class is pretty easy and attendance makes most of your grade. Not bad.
