He's a skin-and-bones, no frills organic prof. He's very straightforward, but have no illusions. This is OChem. If you had the most dazzling prof of all time but didn't work your ass off, you'd still fail. He has an accent, but it's more british than (I assume) indian. No problems there.
Dr. Krish is probably as straightforward as it gets. The day before the exam he literally lists every reaction that you need to know and the mechanisms that you need to know. Then it's up to you to memorize it from there. SI is very helpful. I would strongly reccommend taking Krish. It's a tough class, but at least you know what to expect.
Krish isn't that bad of a teacher but his tests are much harder than he says in his reviews. You have to work your butt off and the SI's are just about a MUST. Not much of an accent which is good but he tends to be picky about certain minuscule things.
I thought Dr. Krish was an amazing professor. I had heard he was very hard, but if you take notes and study for his tests, you can make an A. I love how he tells you what to study for his tests, it is very helpful!
Awesome Professor! Presents everything in a clear-cut, precise way. All of his tests come directly from the lecture and he always does reviews during the class before the test, so you always know what to expect. He moves fast, but writes out notes during class instead of using a powerpoint, forcing you to pay attention. Would absolutely recommend.
This is ocher so obviously it's a hard class, but he does make the material more clear and explains things well. He is a great professor and cares about your grade, but you do need to go in to office hours for help. You get what you put into the class.
Dr. Krish is a no-nonsense ochem prof. This doesn't mean he isn't accommodating, if you go to his office be WILL help you and make sure you know what's going on. His exams are 100% from his very dense in class lectures. If you live and breath those you will be successful in his class. If you are a pre-med/dent/vet/etc, he is a great prof to have.
He's not the best ochem prof out there. He moves extremely fast in class and does not take time to allow you to ask questions during class. His exams are exponentially harder and covers more material per exam than other profs. The only reason I might still make an A is due to SI and tutoring.
Tests very hard, A+ tutoring only helped for the first 2 exams, after that is very hard.
A lot of his exam questions come directly from things he's covered in the lecture. His lectures are not recorded and not posted anywhere. There is weekly homework that is quite time consuming.
Dr. Krish's classes are straight lecture. He presents everything in a clear, easy to understand way, and there is absolutely no fluff. The practice tests he puts online are helpful, and very similar to the real test. He does curve a little, A 78 was became a B.
Average Ochem prof, go to A+ it will save your grade! Tests can be fairly hard and he has frequent homework.
Pros: No-nonsense. This prof tells you exactly what you need to know and why. Tests are like practice exams! He's also very accessible, and cares if his students succeed. Cons: VERY monotone lectures, (nice guy, but monotone), tests are still excruciatingly hard. No matter what, Ochem is tough. I think Krish is a solid prof though. Good luck!
This is organic chemsitry! It's one of the hardest classes you will ever take. No matter the professor, you will NOT pass without putting in a lot of effort on your own time. Krish was a really good at explaining things well and giving lots of examples in class. In addition to really reading your textbook, the material isn't too bad
Krish is a bro. He encourages you to bring grading questions to him, and do. I've gotten points back on a test several times. Ochem is hard, but he is clear about what you do and do not need to know. There are going to be things he doesn't explain very well bc of time, but the book helps a TON. Take OWLS seriously, theya test grade. SI helps too.
Krish is very clear about what we need/don't need to know. Lectures move fast and there's a lot of homework. Practicing the homework and going to SI really helped me. Also use the practice exams he gives you because they're similar to the actual test
I took Krish this past spring &I liked him a lot. I visited him a lot in office hours &he was very nice. Plus he had office hours until 6 p.m., so he went beyond to help. Krish will definitely make you learn the material&work for your grade. If you are falling below the standard but he sees you are making effort (like office hours), you will pass.
HORRRIBLE. KRISH GOES TOOOO FAST and doesn't teach. I have him for Ochem 228 and honest the guy just goes on and on and doesn't even actually put the effort for the student to learn. Owls are totally diffferent from what you "learned" in the class. TAKE ANYONE BUT HIM
Krish is an amazing teacher. CHEM227 is a hard class no matter who your professor is. His lectures are very clear and tight, and he covers all you need to know for the test. You need to take really good notes because he does not upload notes and he goes over material in a really fast pace.
Krish is NOT an amazing teacher. But can be even more difficult if you are not accustomed to that kind of teaching style. NO POWERPOINTS AND GOES EXTREMELY FAST. You're definitely going to need more than a textbook for this one. Honesty, though others have rate this prof well, he isn't as great as they say. I had high hopes for him but i was wrong
This is probably the hardest class I've taken so far. A+ tutoring is helpful, but you can pass without it. The professor is kind and will help with OWL homework during office hours.
I advise you to avoid this prof at all costs. Based on my experience as a former straight A BIMS student, I honestly just to take someone else. Of course this prof doesnt spoon feed you anything but he was very blunt for outside the classroom help. He only has strict office hours and I sure wished I chosen someone else. Sincerely, an Aggie.
This is probably the hardest class I've taken so far. Honestly, he isnt a professor i would recommend to anyone unless you want a solid B or C. A+ tutoring is helpful, but you can pass without it (requires more work). Ochem 2 isnt easy, nevertheless there is a variety of profs at tamu that do a much better job of prepping you for the mcat.
Dr. Krishan is a professor who truly shows that he loves the chemistry but not the students. He goes through the class very fast and only goes through the material once. Even if you record his lectures, Krish doesn't explain himself. The owl homework is a misery and truly a waste of time. His suggested problems are nothing compared to the exams
Krish goes fast but INCREDIBLY knowledgeable, prepared, answers all questions really well, and his exams are so straightforward. His teaching is concise and very clear to understand. Would definitely take again!
Krish is not that hard but he does teach REALLY fast. He is also very straight-forward. There are no surprises on the exam and how well you do on the tests are a sheer reflection of how much effort you put into understanding the material. Yes, it IS OCHEM. People who complain about him usually study the night before the exam and expect to do well.
Krish is an okay professor, but clearly very smart. He lectures fast and all notes, including structures and mechanisms are taken by hand, which makes it difficult to keep up. Just go to A +and study hard from that and practice test and you won't have an issue. Test can serve some kinks, but if you know the material and put in the work its okay.
Dr. Krish is a bro but this class is ridiculous! Besides the Owls, the guy goes waaaaaay to fast and his practice exams are wayyyyyyy easier than the actual exam. I struggled alot in this class even with A+ Tutoring. I learned very little from him and alot more from A+ Tutoring tbh. I would love to take GG for the sake of a good grade and teach.
Ochem is difficult regardless of the professor but Dr. Krish made his lectures difficult be teaching material that is not in the textbook or taught in tutoring. His lectures are not in depth so you HAVE to go to tutoring. OWL will help grade a little so make sure to take it seriously.
This class is 100% based on lecture. If you memorize Krish's in-class examples and do a LOT of practice, you can do well! He is not as bad as everyone says he is but rushes through lecture so much so that he doesn't explain concepts all that thoroughly. However, he does give you everything you need for his very FAIR exams. Very stingy with curving.
Please just take him if its the last resort. Too fast and superficial, compared to his exams who are in alot more detail then what he mentions. I did struggle in this class even with the help of A+ Tutoring. I got a C but it was one of the hardest C's in my life, and I'm and CHEN major.
Look, Ochem is a difficult course. He made it even more difficult. He teaches too quickly, doesn't really curve, and doesn't seem to really care about us. I studied my heart out and got a C. He was my first C. Please, take him as a last resort. The OWL doesn't really help, and the practice tests are a bloke compared to his real tests.
This class is no joke. I put my life into this class and eventually managed an A. Study the lecture notes religiously and use every possible organic chemistry resource. Exams are TOUGH, but it is possible to do well. If you dont like fast paced classes, then this class isnt for you.
Kris should honestly be everyone else last resort. Not the best when it comes to actually want students to know. He is very fast paced and doesn't give the opportunity for students to soak it all in. His exams are pretty rough. Go to A+ to save your grade. Office hours and online homework are a waste of time and a joke.
I did very well in Ochem 1 and thought I could manage Krish with Ochem 2. To my unfortnate, I was verry wrong. Krish goes very fast and doesn;t have much of an interest with helping students succeed. I went to A+ Tutoring religiously because Krish's office hours weren't helpful. I would only take him again if i truly needed to but try to avoid prof
Krish is one of the harder chem227 professors but this class is manageable. I did very well on all exams compared to the class average and I never showed up to lecture but went to A Plus Tutoring instead. ALI IS THE BEST!!!! Krish's sample exams are also very helpful. I was very close to the A cut off but did not make it, sadly.
OChem is a hard class, but with Krish, it's either a hit or a miss. Some people love him, while others, like myself, hate his class. He is unapproachable and doesn't know how to explain things very well. Even in office hours when asking for clarification, he explains things the same way he did in class and expects you to just KNOW things.
Krish was one of my favorite profs. Ochem1 is a tough class no matter what but Krish made it very straight forward. He goes very fast but this allows class to be released early most of the time. If you go into his office hours, there is a good chance you will get points back as his graders grade the test, not him.
Krish is a great professor, but it is a tough class. You will definitely need to study a lot outside of class, but his tests are everything he gives notes over. The practice exams are very very helpful for the tests. He is super helpful in office hours and will even give some points back on tests.
Dr. Krish is one of the worst professors I've ever had. I'd always make sure to go to his office hours & ask him questions regarding homework & the exams, but he's so hard to talk to & he is NOT helpful at all. In class all he does is draw examples but just rushes through the topics. I went to A+ regularly yet that still didn't help my grade.
The lecture is waste of time since he just writes mechanisms on the board that are copied from the textbook. The first four tests were reasonable but the final was absolutely ridiculous. I would definitely recommend taking another prof due to the final alone. His grade distributions are also not as generous as other professors.
I took Krish 1st and 2nd semester. He is definitely hard, but I did well because Ochem clicked for me. If chemistry in general is hard for you do not take him. He has 4 tests and a final plus the Owl homework counts as one exam so don't slack on hmw. Make sure you go to SI and do book practice problems.
Krish is a very smart guy, but is not the best lecturer. He teaches very fast so it is very important to be at every lecture. The homework weights the same as a test does so make sure you don't blow off the homework. Final can literally drop you 10 points if you make a 50 or less. STUDY several weeks before and go to the SI sessions, they helped!
While Krish is a very monotone person his lectures are very helpful. He will specifically tell you what you need to know for the tests and such. His class is made up of 4 exams + a final and hw that is counted has a test grade in the end. He gives practice exams for each exam and they very accurately represent what will be present on the test.
Went to class maybe 5 times the whole year. learned everything at a plus. Do his practice exams and the homework and you'll be solid. I Don't understand the negative reviews, he's a Super nice guy is willing to help you out. I slept through the first test and he let me make it up no problem. Lectures are boring but clear in content. Has no accent.
Format: OWL every week, 4 exams and a final Krish is a GREAT professor! His teaching is very clear and effective. He gives practice exams that are very similar to the tests. If you go to class and pay attention, and do the homework on your own, you'll do fine. The textbook problems are really great practice (answers in solution manual on owl)
I was fearful coming into this class after seeing all the negative reviews he got. He is straightforward with everything. Practice exams were an accurate depiction of the actual exam. Take him. Answers questions promptly. Low key a funny guy. I don't get the bad reviews. Go to lecture, do the practice exams, do the homework and the book problems.
This difficult course whoever you take. Kirsh is very clear what you need to prepare for the exam and teaches it thoroughly and concisely. You'll need to study the book and the practice questions.
say less
Krish's class is very easy, as long as you attend A+. Ali will be a life saver and can gurantee you an A. Attending Krish's lecture is not mandatory, but it is a good place to go to check up on the material you learned from A+
He's alright. As long as you study and do your own studying on top of the homework and class work then you will be alright . Definitely attend the SI with the Xing. His reviews are exactly like the test just make sure you study.
Krish really knows how to teach students to the point of understanding. He presents lots of opportunities for you to do well on exams like practice problems and practice exams. I wont say his class is easy but if you study and really pay attention youll do well. He just wants his students to succeed.
He is a good professor if you care to really learn the material, ie if you're taking OCHEM II later or are taking the MCAT/DAT. Lecture is helpful and super necessary. Exams make up 400 of the total 700, hw is 100, and the final is 200 points. There is usually a curve at the end of about 2-5pts. pay attention & take good notes. notecard it out.
Krish is a really good professor. He can go fast during lectures, but if you do the OWL and study/go to SI sessions then you'll probably do well. I didn't go to SI, but if I did I can see myself doing better in the class (final lowered my grade). He's a very good teacher and you'll definitely learn the material!
Dr. Krish is a tough professor. I am a national merit scholar and would consider myself relatively intelligent, and I had to work hard to barely get an A. The class is curved a little at the end. He does teach all the material you need for the test, and averages are around a 70. It is harder to get an A in his class compared to other ochem profs.
OChem is hard, no matter how you cut it. Krish is a formula and if you figure it out hes a dream. Personally hated lecture, I learned everything at A+. He was VERY clear on what the exam was going to cover and his expectations. 4 exams (100 points MC and FR), weekly OWL (100 points) and a final (200 points all MC). You get what you work for.
Not the best and not the worst. Dr. Krish is considered middle of the pack/a harder prof for Ochem 1. He is very straightforward with his exams and his practice tests are usually a good representation of what will be on the exam. I made an A in this class because I lived at A+ tutoring. Thats what it takes to get an A in this course.
I got an A in both Gen chems and I had a very hard time in this class. Was very lecture heavy but was pretty straight forward, but I gained a lot more info from SI and doing my own learning online. If you are not planning on taking the MCAT or if you know that you will not need to know much more ochem for you major, I would not suggest taking him.
Leaves office hours early. Class exam averages were below 50% 3/4 tests. Assigns homework before its covered in lecture. Barely any curve that's based on past classes not the current class. NEVER responds to emails. Speaks very fast, ends class early most days (which is kinda nice sometimes but also he never lectures enough). TAKE ANYONE ELSE.
If you're here to learn you'll be fine. I never went to A+, only SIs and I made sure to pay attention in lecture and heed the practice exam. He's a fair guy. It takes effort but putting in the work means you're putting it to memory. I genuinely enjoyed lecture and we did a lot of practice problems on the chalkboard. I recommend him.
While organic chemistry is very difficult, Dr. Krish tries his best to prepare his students for the exams. I was really sick during finals, and he was a lot more understanding and accommodating than my other professors. There are practice exams that are a really good representation of the actual exams. You will actually learn with him!!
This man has been my favorite professor I have had a TAMU. He is very clear about what is expected in his course and the practice exams are very similar to his given ones. I will say if you do not take the time to go to class and take good notes, you may do poorly. He knows his stuff and is very caring when you go info help in his office hours.
I absolutely love this guy's lectures: clear and concise. His tests are pretty simple too. Study the material, do the practice test, and put some effort into the class and you will get an A.
Dr. Krish is seriously such a blessing! Hes made me enjoy ochem 2 and his tests are completely do-able if you do all of the book problems! Seriously, you will make an A if you put the effort in, he doesnt trick you!
I loved Krish and think he is a great professor. Ochem is going to be a hard class no matter what professor you get, but he is one of the most consistent. If you take his class you won't have to deal with any curveballs. If you do the practice problems from the book he suggestions your grades will see a lot of improvement. Practice problems>notes
Had Dr. Krish for CHEM 227 and currently in his 228 class. Although subjective, he's pretty clear on what to expect for exams. Gives a practice exam nearly identical to the actual, provides lots of practice problems, all in all a funny and caring dude. You have to make the effort to learn the material though, don't just depend on lecture.
All the negative reviews Krish has are completely false. Krish is one of the most caring professors I have ever had. He is clear with what he wants you to know, and his practice exams reflect the actual exams almost perfectly. OCHEM is just a hard class, and his bad reviews are from people who didn't belong in the major in the first place.
Krish is a really good ochem professor. I took him for ochem 1 and 2 and would take him again if I could. The material is hard and requires a lot of work outside of class, but Krish has great lectures and is very clear about what you need to know for exams. Online homework and exams are the only grades.
Krish is awesome. He gives practice tests that are exactly the same as his exams. As long as you understand the practice tests you will do good on the exams. He does teach pretty fast but its pretty straightforward. Also A+ is super helpful for Krishs class.
Krish is an angel!!! I had this professor for CHEM227 and made sure that I got him for CHEM228. You can tell that he loves what he does and really cares for his students! He is very understanding and fair when it comes to grading. Beware, he does teach very quickly and does everything on chalkboard so you NEED to be in class to get the notes!
Krish is just okay. Attend lecture, do the homework and make sure you understand it, and attend tutoring to do well in this class. I went to A+ tutoring and it was such a good decision! Also, if you think that you deserve points back on the exams, ask nicely and he is usually willing to give you a few points back here and there.
I took Krish for both ochem 1 and ochem 2 and he is the best professor I have had so far. He teaches everything you need to know for an exam, make expectations clear and doesn't waste time. He goes fast in lecture, but it keeps you engaged. His practice exams are very clear to the actual exams. Absolutely you need to study. I also went to A Plus.
Krish is an awesome teacher! He's the only teacher at A&M that's ever been understanding to me about missing a deadline. Make sure you watch his videos if he uploads them still and watch carefully when he's drawing things. His drawings are much more helpful to me as a visual learner than any of the other teachers for o chem I've had. Tests fairly.
The reason for this rating is how straight forward he is. Most of the exam is reactions, synthesis, or nomenclature. All of this stuff is presented in his lectures, and he clearly shows you everything that will be on the test in lecture. He even goes so far to tell you things on the online homework (OWL) that won't be on the exam.
I took Krish when we were transitioned to online only. Posted 2-3 youtube videos for each chapter, assigned 2 homeworks per chapter, and gave a review for the test. I think my classmates and I agree that we needed more resources from him, or would've at least appreciated a weekly zoom. He may be better in person, but do not take him online only.
Dr. Krish is awesome. He made online class easy to succeed in. He gives great practice tests and while the tests are challenging, he made them open book which was nice! It takes quite a bit of outside work to succeed in the class, but Krish provides the basics you need to do well. I loved him and will be taking him again next semester!
Krish is incredibly fair, especially on tests. Gives adequate but not excessive amounts of homework. Highly recommend!
His tests are straightforward. No surprises if you listen to his lectures and do the hw. He is also very understanding, I think especially with everything being online rn. Ochem isnt easy but he doesnt make it any harder than it needs to be, which is why Ill be taking him again for chem 228.
Dr. Krish is a great professor. Organic Chemistry is just a really tough subject and takes a whole load of practice. HW is on OWL and I strongly relied on it to get a lot of my practice in. He gives practice exams which are the same format as the actual exam. it really helped me to make my own test questions. I recommend attending SI regularly.
The only reason I chose Krish for 227 is because all of his exams were open note. I mostly just went to A+ tutoring which saved my grade. OWL homework isn't too tough and the final was on there, so everyone pretty much made an A. Isn't the best professor, but definitely isn't the worst. Not a fan of his YouTube lectures.
I don't know what happened this semester, but Krish didn't put as much effort into the class as he normally would have (I had him for 227 and he was fine). He forgot about review sessions he scheduled and ran through problems at a 100 mph. Took forever to grade and didn't give constructive feedback. First C I've ever gotten in my life. Run.
wasn't impressed. b/c of covid, just sent us all the lecture videos and would only see him at exams. everything was straightforward and open note so there's that. still a difficult class though. not very engaging. came from Collins for 227 so that explains it. practice tests are like exams which is good. changed format for final which was annoying.
Class graded by four lecture exams and one final along with homework. Barely taught during online school and was extremely hard to get into contact with. Tests are very similar to practice exams but purposefully tries to trick you to test if you actually know the information or just regurgitating the knowledge. No type of leniency or extra credit.
Took krish for 228 since I liked his 227 class, but this class sucked. His lectures were all concept based with no example problems and if a topic was complex he would tell us to go to the book instead of teaching. Can say that I learned EVERYTHING from si (props to spencer). Only plus is that his practice exam is similar to the test.
The professor is quite unresponsive through email and lethargic in teaching. He posted over an hour worth of information for every exam. The homework was completely unnecessary to understand the material. Use the practice exams to understand the exam. Use SI if necessary, Spencer is a great SI. His final exam was based on EOC questions in cengage.
I had Krish for both CHEM 227 and 228. With online, the class was asynchronous in which he would just send out lecture videos. They were good for 227, but as the chapters moved on in 228 the videos became less detailed. His exams are the same as his practice exams, so if you can get through those you should be fine. Good prof, just not for online
Dr. Krish is honestly a very good professor. You know exactly what to expect for tests. He goes incredibly fast in lectures, but if you read the book his tests are very straightforward. Ochem is difficult in general but he gives you everything you need to know for the test. Hes a very understanding guy as well, dont be afraid to talk to him.
I've heard great things about Krish in the past, and that is why I took him this semester. AVOID. He is not helpful at all and his response to "How do we pass your class" was "you don't. you drop it." Waste of money and I have to take the class again. He takes pride in how hard he can make the class. Good luck..
Highly recommend studying the practice exams; fairly accurate. Homework does not help. Bad at responding to emails, was helpful when I talked to him. His lectures made no sense/no point going. No partial credit on exams for the most part.
Professor Krish is straight forward professor. Textbook did not help much but knowing and understanding the lecture slides is what helped on exams. Practice tests are good examples of what to expect on the actual exam. His lectures fast so you will more than likely have to remove the slides on your own as well.
Krish was an excellent professor. He gives plenty of practice and the tests are very similar to the practice exams. Tests fairly and does not try to trick you. Very understanding and willing to give points back on test if you talk to him. Anyone who did poorly in his class just didnt put in the time needed to be successful in organic chemistry.
Dr. Ponnaperuma is an ok professor. One of his downsides is that his lectures are not helpful in understanding the material. Furthermore, he is not reachable through email. However, he does provide annotated lecture notes and practice exams that are really similar to the actual exam. He also will extend the HW deadline if you provide a good reason.
Dr. Ponnamperuma is a great professor. He teaches the book, and you more or less just need to memorize the reactions and some mechanisms of each reaction to get an A. There are 5 tests, but they are easy if you know the reactions. Understanding the material at a fundamental level makes it all the easier, and he teaches for understanding as well.
Had to drop the class because lectures were not helpful. I studied very hard but still struggled. Class averages on all the test were well below passing, but he still did not curve them. Would not recommend taking him!!
Homework is only 7.7% of the grade and the rest are tests! Zooms through lectures and I got nothing from them, so you better go to tutoring. He is not a good professor. I do not recommend taking.
Lectures fast and tests + final worth 92% of grade, but the exams are easy if you can do the practice exams provided on canvas. Exams are not tricky. Just know reactions and the 4 mechanisms he expects you to know and you will do good. OWL homework is useful at times
Always speeds through lectures and expects students to teach themselves certain concepts outside of class. The only practice problems given are the textbook problems, OWL homework, and practice exams. Practice exams tend to be much easier than the actual exam. Exams emphasize memorization of reactions and concepts.
Enjoyed this professor since exams are not meant to trick you and are very similar to practice exams. He lectures fast but thats because the mechanisms are similar to each other and does not want to waste time. Go to A+ and work out previous exam problems and you should pull an A. If you need extra practice problems attend his zoom tutoring session
Honestly think there are better profs for ochem. Exams were not too hard but i personally had a hard time with his teaching style and i did not feel that it helped me. The owl hw was hard, and it did not help much for the exams. This is just my opinion, take it with a grain of salt since many other students were able to succeed in this class.
Your grade is only made up of 4 exams and hw! No room for mistakes/bad grades. I thought this class was really hard and I unfortunately had to get out of the class. I do not know if he curves the class at the end
I enjoyed his class. The exams were exactly as expected and the practice exams/problems from textbook helped a ton. Take his class but expect to work for it
The exams are worth a lot of your grade, but if you can do the practice exams with ease, one should have no problem with the exams. Lectures EXTREMELY FAST so stopped showing up to class. The key of earning a good grade is to go to A+ so you get the reactions down, memorize the mechanisms, and glance the annotated PPTs to get some easy MC points.
I thought this class was extremely difficult with this prof. However I did not go to A+ like a lot of the class did, so that may be something to consider when choosing this prof. Exams are over 90% of your total grade and they are not the hardest exams but the concepts are hard. Would not recommend
This professor should be avoided at all costs. I made my first C ever due to his lack of ability to lecture effectively. This course was so heavy in exams and our final exam had a failing average as well as most of our other tests. The questions on his exams are meant to trick you, so it doesn't matter if you study hard.
Extremely fast lecturer and does not take the time to go over important concepts. Lots of times he told the class to solve something on their own time. With having class right after another section, he would present the same PowerPoint with the annotations that he made before so he would just be reading off the screen the whole time.
The two people who rated Krish a 5 recently is cap. He lectures very fast and requires you "to workout the mechanism yourself in your free time." Only good part of the class is that his tests are easier than anyone else.
If you want to teach yourself Organic Chemistry II with 100+ reactions (no joke) this class is for you.
I made an A in chem 227 but I am probably making a C in chem 228 because of this professor. He made this class so difficult, I didn't know how to study for his test. I asked him for help and he indirectly called me stupid. Our averages were failing for some tests and he won't curve.
Lectures ended early all the time because most things you have to "figure out yourself". class is graded based on 4 exams and homework and I personally thought that the homework didn't help me learn. as most people said before, exam averages were failing grades including the final exam and there is little to no curve. avoid this prof if you can
Extremely difficult class, and the professor was unfortunately not helpful in office hours. I had to drop out of fear of failing. Run!
Would not recommend this professor. He goes so fast in lecture and always ends class at least 15 min early. The 4 exams + final are 93% of your grade, and 7% of your grade comes from the HW which is not very helpful. He never curved any individual exams, but for this semester, an 85 or higher is an A. The final was a lot harder than the midterms.
This class was awful and Dr Krish was awful. I am sure he is a great guy, but I did not think he was a good professor at all. Additionally, when I spoke to him in office hours he was very condescending and told me to change my major
I had to self-teach a lot of the material and work really hard for the grade I received. The main exams are very doable, but the final exam was really challenging. OWL did not really help me understand the concepts and often was harder than what we covered in class. Study very hard for the main exams to have leeway on the final.
Exams are very straightforward, and he gives you hints in class as to what questions will be or could be on the exam. Practice exams are very similar to the actual exams. He can go fast in lecture but if you look at the slides before and put in the work, you will do just fine. I also recommend going to his office during hours.
CHEM 227 contains a lot of information but is a breeze if you are willing to read the textbook. Dr.Krish, however, made each lecture as informative as possible while answering any questions. A downside, however, is rarely responding to emails. I recommend going to office hours. Because the information in the PP's are summarized, read the textbook!
CHEM 228 with Dr. Krish is all based on the textbook. Lecture slides are screenshots from the textbook with little to no additional information from him. He goes very fast, and it's difficult to learn from him. Exams were alright, and he curved a little at the end. And he's chill I guess, I just suppose he doesn't care
Krish's exams are very similar to his practice exams, which is nice. But his lectures move so fast that it is very difficult to keep on track. Difficult to feel prepared for exams without A+. Class average was around a 71 at the end of the year not including the decent percentage of the class dropped. Very bad at responding as well.
Dr. Krish is way better than these reviews make him sound. He gave exam reviews that were almost identical to the actual test and his lectures covered all the material that is on the tests. However, the only grades were 5 exams and homework was worth relatively little. Ochem is a rough class but Dr. Krish set the curve where a 75 = A.
Your grade is based off 4 exams, homework, and a final, so you have to be on top of things in order to do well. His lectures are clear and straight to the point, but very fast paced. The mock exams were very similar to the actual exam and the final is not cumulative. A 75 is an A in the class so its attainable but you have to put in the work.
Ochem 2 is pretty hard but Dr. Krish definitely made it doable as he sets an A to be a 75. His practice exams give you a good idea of what to expect on the real exam. His lectures are fast paced and can be overwhelming, but everything he talks about is in the textbook so it might be a good idea to read the book before class.
he genuinely knows the content which reflects in his teaching. i felt like he simplified things down and put it in terms of normal words. he doesn't respond to emails well but receptive with in person questions. for my class he had an A set at 75%. grading is pretty exam heavy. i plan on taking him for ochem2, my only complaint was the 8am part lol
Dr. Krish is the best professor I have EVER taken at A&M. He genuinely cares and wants you to succeed in his course. He was very understanding of my health issues this semester and accommodating. Go to class and actually take notes, write out the homework problems. His practice test were the most helpful.
First off, OChem is a tough course so keep that in mind! He offers no extra credit, and your grade is pretty much determined by exams/final so not a lot of fluff. GO TO LECTURES! Homework is honestly useless, but his practice exams prepare you well for exams. Overall, no complaints, just be prepared to put in lots of work/hours studying.
Take Ponnamperuma! Only one homework between each exam. Exams are very similar to practice exams. He gives plenty of extra practice problems. What you need to know for exams is very straightforward if you attend lectures. He doesn't curve individual exam scores but curves the final grade distribution a good amount. An A is very doable in his class!
He is genuinely so sweet and understanding. One homework assignment for each test (5 test total), test are like the practice exams, and gives out three practice exams with a key for each test. His lectures were fast, but I personally liked the way he taught. Lets just say I had a 30 test average in ochem 1, and I have an A average in ochem 2 now.
I love Ponnamperuma. He was a fantastic prof for Ochem 1, and had a high B before the average curve. I ended up with an A in the class, and he is beyond knowledgeable in the subject. Lectures help a TON, and he can answer any questions you have in the lecture without a doubt. Don't be afraid to talk to him, he's beyond understanding!
Dr Krish is by far the best ochem prof. Ive had him for both ochem 1&2 and got an A in both. He gives 2-3 practice exams that are very similar to the exam. One homework between each exam. Curves the class quite a bit 75-80 is usually an A. If you do the practice exams you wont even need the curve to get an A. Great about answering questions.
Ponnamperuma's test were easy, but when it comes to lectures, I did not really appreciate how fast and unorganized they were. Gives practice tests that are very similar to the real tests so study those!
This guy knows his stuff but is a bad teacher of it. Runs through lectures SO fast, doesnt allow questions during class, no recorded lectures to even review what he said, no extra notes/video material other than a textbook, only plus is that his practice exams are like the exams but that's the least he can do IMO... overall avoid if you can.
Professor Ponnanmperuma made CHEM 228 as easy as it possibly could be. His lectures were clear and he makes sure to explain what happens and why it happens. His practice examples are pretty close to the content on actual tests. Homework is not excessive and attendance isn't mandatory.
I'm currently taking him for Chem 228 and I regret it a lot. He changed his class this semester and has made the tests a lot harder this semester. The practice tests are useless as is the textbook. I had an A for 227 and currently I'm failing 228. The grade cutoff which used to be a 75 for an A is now an 89, so avoid this prof at all costs!!!
This is my second time taking 228, I took Pennington and almost failed, so I dropped his class and I couldn't be happier. I am expected to get an A in this class because of how amazing he structures his class. He gives two practice exams per exam, and final isn't cumulative. Go to office hours--he's nice and will answer ALL of your Aktiv problems!
Very solid professor. The A cutoff being a 75 made it an overall stress free class. Only 5 HW assignments and 5 exams. Takes two days before each exam going over practice exams which are essentially carbon copies of the actual exam, no pun intended. Dumps a lot of info every lecture, so be prepared to lock in for 50 minutes taking notes.
Class: TOUGH but its Ochem2, its going to be tough and thats not the teacher's fault. 5 exams, 5 HW only. MAKE TIME TO STUDY! its only going to lock for you with repetition I promise. Go to ILSQ for study help and you'll be fine with the curve. Professor: Overall good. Fast talker but offers helpful resources like practice exams which are key.
I got a B but there is literally no reason you should. I don't know how the course will be in the future but you should definitely try to study the practice exams. I don't know how much I can stress that...
I failed ochem the first time with a D (with serrano). He is a very understanding with makeups and gives out practice tests very similar to the exams. His lectures are understandable and he does many examples. The final exam was multiple choice and just like the practice tests. He also let let us use charts serrano made us memorize lol.
This class was almost too easy. The curve was set right at the start so that an A was a 75. There are 5 homework assignments total, each one due the night before the respective exam. His exams are straight-forward and the practice exams are extremely helpful and very similar to the actual exam. I highly recommend taking Dr. Krish for Ochem 2.
This was the easiest Organic Chemistry class ever! Dr. Krish is not the best lecturer, he goes fast BUT as long as you put in the work and learn/memorize mechanisms on your own you will EASILY get an A. An A for this class was a 78! He is also a cool guy to talk to in general! TAKE HIM!!!
The only grades in this class are 5 exams (final is not cumulative) and the homework assignments. Do all the homework assignments to learn the content and practically memorize the practice exams because the real exams are basically identical to them. An A was a 78 this semester and a 75 last semester, but the class is not excessively difficult.
Extremely forgiving professor when it comes to exams. Gives three reviews for each midterm and 2 reviews for the final. The final was 80% questions pulled directly from the reviews. Also the grade cutoff for my class was a 78, and the test averages were in the 80's
homework was easy and only due before exams, cutoff was 78 for an A, all exams were SUPER close to the practice exams given but the final was literally 90% just the practice exam questions word for word. didnt show up to class once after the first exam. you dont need to. slides posted online with annotated notes from him that he does in class
god bless the student that tipped me off to take this guy over serrano for ochem 2, i switched last second and secured the easiest A of my life. great prof, easy exams, almost too easy
He teaches very fast so it can be difficult to keep up with him but he posts his annotated notes which helps. His practice exams are very close to the actual exams and the final exam was 90% questions straight from practice exams and non-comprehensive. The grade cutoffs are also pretty low so it's not too difficult to get an A.
Easiest A of my life!! He gives practice exams that are very similar to the actual exams so just study those. There is Aktiv homework, but it is very easy and doesn't take up much time. The grade cutoff is that a 78 is an A and he posts all of the notes online. The final is basically identical to the practice exams. Take him!!
78 and higher was curved to an A, and I easily made an A without the curve. His practice exams are super similar to his real exams, but you might have to watch a few youtube videos to understand some of the concepts (he's doesn't really explain concepts well during his lectures).
The GOAT. Take Krish, he is very nice and helpful. Grade cutoff was set at the beginning of the semester at a 78. Study the practice tests and mechanisms and you'll make an A.
Taught the material clearly, gave plenty of in-class examples, and was always willing to answer questions. We were always well-prepared for the exams and it was clear that Dr. Krish cared to help the class. Highly recommend him.
LITERALLY BEST PROFESSOR EVER! I couldn't have asked for a better ochem 2 professor. His cutoff for my class was a 78 FOR AN A! He lectures a little fast but is always open to answering questions. There are four exams+final which is not cumulative+Aktiv hw. Practice exams are also exactly like the exams. TAKE KRISH YOU WILL BE SET!!!!
Easiest and best 228 prof, which is ALL that matters. Study the practice exams, which are similar to the actual exams. Final exam had literal identical questions from the practice final exam. 78% A cut-off. Understanding with sickness and make-up exams. Tells you exactly what u need to know and will NOT trick u. Chill and stress-free class.
Easy class because the tests are not cumulative. If you do well enough on the exams, you do not even need to take final to get an A. I believe there were 6 exams (including final) and 78% was an A.
Dr. Krish is very kind and is good at explaining the material. The cutoff for an A is a 78 and the exams are easy enough that getting an A is trivial even without the curve. Study the mechanisms and the practice exams and it will be almost impossible to not get an A in this class.
Literally king of TAMU. So kind and genuinely cares about students passing. Exams are very similar to the practice exams. Go to class and study!!! He is the very very best.
Great prof, nothing on the test will be a surprise, practice exams are helpful to go over content and really helpful for the final, amazing guy in office hours, really caring, teaches so well, lectures/slides are important as they cover all of the content the test goes over. Overall, amazing guy. Couldn't have asked for a better prof.
He is one of the most incredible professors I've had AND probably the most genuine and caring human to exist. If ur lucky enough to get him, work hard & show your appreciation to him, this class is tough, but he has done everything to make it the best environment, so your grade is a result of YOUR work and time. Dont be scared bc it is v doable.
The class is not easy. However, he is very kind and very clearly wants you to succeed. He gives multiple practice exams for every test that are always similar to the upcoming tests. His weekly homework assignments are also similar to the tests as well and are very helpful. Despite difficulty, I ended with an A greatly because of his efforts.
My favorite OCHEM professor, very clear expecations. He is helpful and accommodating. For the tests, which are a large portion of your grade, you know what to expect. They are very similar to the practice exams. Attend class, understand the practice exams and you will get a good grade.
His exams are exactly like his practice tests, so if you can do those then you will make good grades on his exams. He goes very fast during lecture, but he does post all of his annotated notes. I recommend using a-plus tutoring for this class. He also lowers to grading requirement for an A. During my semester the cut off for an A was an 82.
Krish is an amazing prof - super caring and explains things clearly. Practice exams are key, and unstuck AI was a lifesaver for study prep. Tough but doable class with a low A cutoff.
Krish is a solid professor overall, what sets him apart is his grading. His exams are really really similar to the practice tests. Know how. to do them and you will do fine. Homework's aren't too long and his grade cutoff for an A is an 82. Also gives 5 extra points for filling out a students survey. Take him for an A, really nice person too.
I didn't get much out of this class. Krish is nice, but he doesn't explain concepts very well and the class is extremely fast-paced compared to others. His practice exams are just like the exams, but knowing the practice exams is different than knowing the material. If you want to actually learn and understand the material, take someone else.
He wasn't a bad professor but he goes very fast in class and doesn't go much into depth about topics. Do not take him if you don't go to class. He posts slides with his notes on them, he has a Aktiv homework for every chapter which are never hard, and he provides practice tests and practice problems to do for extra help. Overall he's a nice guy.
I thoroughly enjoyed Dr. Ponnamperuma's class. I think his exams were rather easy when compared to the other ochem2 profs, but I felt as if I learned more from him than my ochem1 professor. He is very kind and willing to help out but his class itself is not very demanding. Study mock exams to prepare for real exams.
BEST OCHEM PROF EVER!! His practice exams are so similar to the real ones. Go to class and do A+ tutoring and you will get an A. He is very straightforward and wants you to succeed. Office hours were very beneficial right before exams.
The goat. Tests were very similar to practice exams that he reviewed towards the end of a chapter. Pretty good lecturer, and makes ochem easy. Lab is going to suck no matter what, but that's out of his control. the A cutoff is also an 82, which is very lenient and makes getting an A very doable.
Dr. Krish is the kindest professor I have ever had. He's always willing to meet with you via office hours and he is super helpful! This class is very exam heavy with just homework's as an additional grade, so be prepared to study! I would 100% take a class with Dr. Krish again, O chem is just difficult.
great professor who made ochem easy to understand. his slides and practice exams are very similar to the actual exams - like same question but different numbers. also his final was literally the exact same questions as one of his practice finals, goat behavior. i wish i had taken him for ochem 1 as well
cutoff for an A was an 82, and his actual exams are very similar to practice exams! he is very fast as a lecturer so unless you prestudy it is hard to follow him in class, but exams aren't too bad to study for. final isn't cumulative (GOAT) and made life easier. completely recommend him for ochem 1, and he rounds if you are .5% of a letter grade!
Extremely underrated, now everyone wants him for O. Chem 2! Exams are almost identical to his practice exams, and the cutoff for an A is an 82, so A is very possible! Office hours are almost always crowded since he is really helpful. Lectures sometimes are fast-paced but slides are usually posted. Final non-cumulative which sets him apart!
He is an amazing professor. Got straight to the point and didn't talk about irrelevant topics to the course. Caring and wants students to succeed and explain things until you get them. He does sometimes make mistakes in class that students have to correct him, but he is a good teacher and knows what he is talking about. Great cut off for an A.
Not sure why his rating is so low. His cutoff for an A is very low, and his exams are exactly like his practice exams. His lectures are also very direct - no fluff, exactly what you need to know to succeed. He is very helpful at office hours, which are very helpful. Great professor, welcoming energy, and open to questions/corrections during lecture
He is such a sweet professor that actually cares about his students and is a free A. The grade cutoff was fairly low that almost everyone got an A in the class. I would study a day before the exams and get an A. His practice exams are very similar to the exams.
Amazing prof; practice exams similar to real exams but make sure you understand them to do well on exams because he'll tweak them. Cutoff for an A was pretty low and really just wants everyone to do well. Gives you everything you need to succeed and nothing you don't! Messes up in class sometimes but not enough to confuse people and gave 5 pts EC!!
Amazing/easy professor. Grade cutoff was at an 82 for an A and exams were almost copy paste to the practice exams he gave. Go to lecture and take notes, do the homework, understand it, do the practice exams, and you will get an A. Extra credit opportunity. The GOAT
Probably the savior of Organic Chemistry at TAMU. Practice tests are almost exactly like the real thing, and sometimes are actually easier. Generous grading curve, but it is easy to lose points on the tests so beware. I did not find it necessary to read the textbook or look at outside sources to do well and get an A in the class.
Krish is the GOAT of ochem. His class is fairly easy and the practice exams are copy paste the real thing. He did kind of slack in ochem 2 with how good his lectures were, but the exams made up for his teaching. He is iconic and I recommend him for an easy A.
Dr. Krish was exceptional. His lectures can be tough & studying won't be easy but very manageable. His office hours are great. Offers great test prep resources & has very unchanging exam formats. Cuts out repeat info & makes the class as straightforward as possible. It's still o-chem, so it's hard, but I'd take him over any other professor.
TAKE HIM! His exams and lecture are straightforward, and he is very willing to help during his office hours. He has a grade cap for an A, which was around an 80. His final wasn't cumulative also which is a blessing compared to other profs. Study his practice exams!
OC is hard regardless of prof but if u want an A Krish is ur best bet. Practice exams VERY similar to real exams but will throw in a couple Q's that u haven't seen which can throw u off. Cutoff for A was 85. Don't underestimate how long it takes to study. Start working the practice exams ASAP and ur golden. Q's on mechanisms are worth LOTS of pts!!
His tests are genuinely so easy and exactly like the practice exams. His expectations are very clear. Very sweet guy and very helpful especially in office hours. Takes a while to warm up to because not super personable at first, but stay consistent and he is really funny! Loved Dr. Krish and wish I could a class with him again.
Possibly the best professor I've had the privilege of taking. Can really explain concepts well unlike any other person even on the internet. I attended lecture and skimmed through the textbook to understand which topics I needed to cover and used Chad's prep as a supplement. Make sure you set enough time to finish the hws as they are quite dense.
His curve is awesome. A 75 is an A, so I would recommend taking him. Ochem is hard in general, and he is not the most approachable, but he is a great prof. If you have to take ochem 2, take him. He won't be your best friend, but he will do everything he can to help his students pass.
Dr. Krish is an awesome professor. Do the worksheets, practice exams, and attend lecture and I feel like you will get an A. He's so nice and so approachable! Would take again in a heart beat.
Definitely take him for ochem! He does go through lectures extremely quickly, but I reviewed the content after class to better retain the information. The exams were pretty similar to the worksheets, so I would definitely study those. I also personally thought he was very caring and was a great professor overall! TAKE HIM!!!
dr. krish is amazing!!!! i would 100% recommend him for ochem 1, and im taking him again next semester. he is so sweet and extremely helpful and attendance is not mandatory. also his lectures made perfect sense and he provided a lot of study material and practice exams/questions. an A is an 85 also!!
taking krish for ochem will make your life 100% better. I am taking him again next semester! he wants you to succeed and provides you with everything to do so. if you take krish ochem will not be a struggle.
Do good in lab, it'll save your grade. Exams make up pretty much the entire class alongside Aktiv. He's one of the easiest professors in Organic Chemistry, so do your best because this is your best shot at an A.
1) 85 is an A 2) Class is not at all hard. Lectures are a little disorganized and fast, but the textbook(free) covers everything u need. Exams are exactly like his practice tests. 3) he is very sweet and accessible outside class. Make use of it. The class is not hard, the content can be. LOVED HIM. He is the only reason I survived this class.
TAKE HIM!! Dr.Krish is an AMAZING prof and wayy easier than the rest. He talks super fast during lectures but is more than willing to help you during office hours. exams are like practice exams AND worksheets, so spam them and KNOW your stuff!!! Don't just rely on the practice to make an A. Overall great prof and made ochem actually survivable.
