Krishna comes off as a very nice guy but in reality is completely inauthentic. He has his favorites which are a handful of women that he frequently calls on while virtually ignoring the rest of the class. Instead of clarifying topics, he confuses the class even further--teaching is not well-suited to him unfortunately.
This professor spews love, peace and acceptance, however he clearly has issues that interfere with his goals as a professor . . . my advice is to find another instructor. My self-esteem was threatened in his class.
boring and hard to understand!
Professor Guadalupe is committed, approachable, and informative. However, he is a hard grader
Wow, where do I start? This professor has serious issues that make it impossible to learn. He is extremely confusing, does not know the material well enough, has issues with people correcting or asking him to clarify answers, and is as narcissistic and parnoid as you can get. He has his favorites, normally people who have nothing to say.
I enjoyed and learned much from this professor. I was disappointed with many of my classmates who wanted the easy way out. They wanted the "A" rather than earning it.
Among others, Krishna is confusing, petty, immature, defensive, and a poor communicator. He likes to think he is "impeccable" but he really should revisit the definition. He is not even close to impeccable! I should have listened when my colleagues told me to avoid his class...live and learn.
The class was on diversity. It was better than I expected. I felt he downgraded me but I still did better than others. Yet there were others who got higher grades and their insight and knowledge seemed poor. Very confusing at times. Can be very rigid.
Unlike the classmate who informed me of this teacher evaluation program, I enjoyed taking this class with Dr. Guadalupe. He is respectful, supportive, and encouraging. Yet, in his class you have to earn the grade, something that a number of my classmates do not seem to be accostumed. He is a hard grader, but fair.
I really enjoyed Dr. Guadalupe's class. He is innovative in his teaching approach. He will challenge you, but you will learn. I often find that classmates who are looking for an easy "A" often become the biggest whiners.
Guadalupe is inappropriate and unprofessional. Unlike what some of the other critics said, I am not complaining because I was looking for an easy A. I got my A, but learned nothing. Don't expect him to even learn your name. Like others said, he is not meant to be a teacher.
If you want to learn take his classes. He is challeging, but also accessible and supportive.
I don't think Krishna is a hard grader. The readings are usually ignored in class (so what's the point?). My complaint is his integrity. How can he not bother to learn the names of his students, but ask the class that they be respectful of him and one another? It really seems hypocritical. Thus, I question his commitment to his students.
Krishna is strange. The oral test and debate are a pain. He enjoys these, students hate them. His constant use of "authentic" "impeccable" etc., gets old fast. I will never take him again.
Truth is in the eyes of the beholder. I had a wonderful experience in this class. However, I noticed that some of my classmates just like to complain for anything. This seems to be part of their peronalities inside and outside of classes. I wish them luck. It must be hard to be them!
Challenging, but not as scary as he seems at the beginning of the semester.
If you have to take this course then make sure you take it with this professor!! He is an awesome person and is very knowledgeable. Don't listen to any bad comments about him because he's wonderful and friendly. Also he makes the class interesting, to say the least!!
Had him in the summer for theories of criminal behavior. He was one of my favorite teachers at sac sate!! He's funny, VERY interested in his material, extremely helpful and meets the students' needs. Overall, kept my attention, made us laugh and I thoroughly enjoyed the class :) Id love to take him again!
Great instructor. I enjoyed his sense of humor and ability to make the class interesting. He is demanding, but supportive as well.
He is obsessed with being "impeccable" but he is often times hypocritical and egotistical. I find him to also be very confusing...a week before a massive paper is due he changes what is says on the syllabus??!! I mean, c'mon!! It's not hard to get an A...but, it's not worth it to deal with him all semester.
This professor is innovative in his teaching approach. He makes you think and self-evaluate. He is demanding but also supportive. I am glad I had him as an instructor.
I really enjoyed this instructor and his accessibility. I do agree, he is a hard instructor. He demand high perfomance and critical thinking, something that many of my classmates seem to be unable to do.
This professor is interesting and has a very unique teaching style. He makes you think and self-evaluate. He is demanding but also supportive. I am glad I had him as an instructor.
This professor has a very unique teaching style. He makes you think. I am glad I had him as an instructor.
Guadalupe is an interesting professor. His assignments are challenging - demanding, but yet thought-provoking. I enjoyed his class. He is also accessible and supportive.
This professor seems to be very nice in the beginning. However, as the semester progresses he loses his charm. Assignments are difficult to understand and require way too much work- 10 to 15 page papers that are meaningless. He is not open to new ideas but is very much into new age thinking.
He is a very challenging professor. He will push you you to the edge, but it is for your own good. Some people say that he seems arrogant, but he is okay. He is the only one who gives the class his cell number to contact him for questions. I had never seen that before
He is the most arrogant professor ever, he acts like he is the most kind supportive person but really he is inflexible and rude. Its easy to buy into his self confident ways as being the right one but if you don't agree with him - watch out - he is indirectly arrogant & attacking, - run from this class or keep your mouth shut!
What a class! I love the fact that Dr. Guadalupe is not affraid to speak about controveversial practice issues. He challenges you to think beyond your comfort zone. Unfortunately, some students are not ready for this. I have been surprised to observed the number of inmatured students at a graduate level program.
SWRK 204B, Challenging but rewarding. I was encouraged to think beyond my comfort zone. Dr. Guadalupe is knowledgeable and helpful. It was sad, however, to witnessed that some of my classmates were not matured enough, disturbing the class with personal issues.
Great instructor and fun. He is genuinely into what he does and believes in making the most out of the courses he teaches. Always available and helpful. Definitely worth working your class schedule around to take the courses he teaches. You'll do the work and his grading is very fair.
you will either love this guy or hate him. He is very open and will talk about anything, he will make you think beyond your imagination. He is not a teacher for shy people with closed minded personalities. I loved his class and will never forget this teacher, the class was very fun and I was never bored!
Krishna is very friendly and has a good sense of humor. He is very passionate about the lectures he give which is pretty helpful. He is an easy grader and gives you all midterm (essay) prompts a month in advance. You will have to do some reading though.
Creative, fun and good sense of humor. Course is not easy but an A is not a far reach, prof. is very understanding. (took spring 2014 swrk 102)
I enjoyed the course with Professor Guadalupe. He is creative while teaching.
Some love him, but he seemed duplicitous to me. keep opinions to yourself, he is offended if you disagree. stresses clarity for you, but was not clear in lectures or syllabus. he would assert his power at times that were inappropriate. 0 follow through, judgmental. there is a chance that you will like him, but I wouldn't take the chance.
I highly respect Dr. Guadalupe. While demanding, he is fair and goes the extra mile for his students.
Very educated, helpful, knowledgeable. Once he explain the topic you will know it for ever. Great, fun professor, lots of role playing. One presentation, oral mid-term, and take home easy for final. The only thing was concerning is the language he uses.
The professor does not uphold the ethics of a social worker. He was late several times to class. He skipped meeting with me several times now. I find it deeply unprofessional that a professor would set up meeting with a student and no-show. He was not helpful or clear. Arguing against him does you no good. He will assert his power.
He is very interesting, with many great stories. His mind is scary though, and he is very busy. Be prepared to be tested as a person and student. Class was not easy, but graduate level, and real.
Make sure you study slides, book and notes to better grasp theories.
Took him for winter intersession. For a 3 week period he did a solid job of teaching us, and helping us learn the theories... think outside the box a little. He keeps students engaged by lectures and stories and humor. He's a pretty funny dude. As long as you pay attn to lecture and study the theory - if you can back up your pov you'll pass
You learn a lot. Yet you have to work for it. If you are not committed, don't try it!
Love his creativity and skill fumes. He makes you think critically!
Not a good professor. Needs a reality check and to be humbled. Refuses to acknowledge he's wrong, has an issue with accepting he doesn't know an answer. He will tell you a 5 minute story that has nothing to do with your question and then end with "Does that make sense?" Is he easy to pass? Yes. If he feels you get an A. You get an A.
Krishna is an excellent professor. Be ready to work and learn. Two of my classmates did not like him. Yet, their arrogance did not allow them to remain teachable!
Not only good teacher but he inspire me to continue my education
Great guy. He is a tough grader and if you don't show up you will fail so talk to him if you're falling behind. He talks in circles for me so I wouldn't take him again but he's nice. We had one group project, one midterm (an in class paper) and a final paper (not written in class).
He was an excellent and chill Professor! We were graded on only 3 things which was a midterm take home paper, a group presentation, and attendance. He is really straight forward with what he expects from his students. I highly recommend him.
This is the most humble man Ive ever met. Hes hilarious & is always coming up with new ways to keep the class entertained & focused. Although youre only graded on 3 things, he GIVES you the essay questions you will be writing about in the syllabus. Very insightful & interesting class. I wish I could take him again for another course.
He made complex concepts easy to understand. Accessible and helpful!
Krisha was insightful but was not aware of offensive things he said. He often asked for elaboration on assignments that were clearly sufficient. If you did not use his view/interpretation of theories, he will discredit you. Use his slides to do assignments and don't think for yourself basically. cool guy but needs some support in reading the room
He was pretty cool from the first day of class. What I enjoyed was that he found a way to tie every thing that seemed like nothing to matter. You definitely have to read the textbook in order to pass as it explains a lot more but it's pretty interesting if you like sociology.
I took his class during COVID and I'm sure he's probably a fine in-person instructor. However, online classes with him are awful. He requires every person to be on camera and grades you based on "how much attention you're paying" which is completely subjective. You lose points if you're deemed to be on your cell phone.
I did not know much about theories of human development before taking this class. Krishna made difficult subject simpler. She is was very accessible during this online class. I appreciated his active teaching style. It kept my attention.
Dr. Guadalupe is engaging, knowledgeable, and accessible. He is clear about classroom expectations. He will make you think and hold you accountable. He will also support you as needed. Overall, a good teacher.
Great instructor!
Amazing Professor. Come to class ready to learn. Do the reading and be ready for group projects. I learned so much from this professor.
Dr. Guadalupe will hold you accountable. Yet, he will always support and help you. He is caring, respectful, and very knowledgeable. I really enjoyed this class.
He is an amazing professor. He takes time to make sure you understand the theories and will break down into simpler terms to help you understand. Do not miss a class !!
An excellent instructor. It was difficult to learn the theories, but he took his time. He was committed to his students.
Professor Guadalupe was knowledgeable and engaging. He shared about real field experiences which made the class more interesting than simply learning from a book. Excellent instructor.
Krishna is very supportive and tries his best to make the class fun. He checks in with students every meeting and is accessible outside of the class times as well. He goes through the assignments with us in case we have any questions before we submit them- there are normally 3 to 4 major assignments that we work on throughout the semester.
I liked Dr. Guadalupe. He is a hard grader; yet, he is fair. He well prepared for class and try to keep students involved.
Dr. Guadalupe is amazing. He is a hard grader, yet, presents students with detailed feedback when returning their papers as well as an opportunities to resubmit their work if students want to. He is passionate and encourages students to self-assess in order to address possible biases. I really enjoyed his non-traditional teaching style.
Excellent instructor - Intelligent and insightful. Makes class discussions interesting and engaging. Provides great feedback when grading papers and presentations. I would definitely take him back!
Professor Guadalupe is one of a kind. He is unique and thought-provoking in his teaching style. While a hard grader, he cares for the students and provide opportunities for improvement. I have learned a lot in this class.
I was enrolled in 204A and 204B. A hard, yet, fair grader. Detail feedback is provided when papers are returned. Dr. Guadalupe's teaching style is innovative, capturing students' attention and promoting learning. Through these classes, I grew professionally and personally. As he often says, "social work is not a profession, but a way of life."
Great class, great instructor. The class is active with role plays and exploration of cases. I have learned a lot about assessment and ways of working with clients.
Prof. Krishna is a world of knowledge and very inspiring. Lectures can be extremely long. This class was graded on three major papers, attendance and participation. Some of his papers are confusing, and it feels like you are writing four papers in one. However, he does give very detailed feedback on what needs to be improved.
He is just really weird. This professor is conducting research for Sac State, so he is not a good teacher. He is really smart, but he can't teach at all. He also talks way too much, he doesn't provided much guidance for papers, but he will let you try again and get a higher grade. Just don't take him, it's a stressful class.
Dr. Guadalupe offers a unique teaching approach that encourages thinking beyond conventional boundaries. If you seek traditional teaching methods, he might not be the ideal choice. Personally, I found his class exceeded my expectations, providing a refreshing and stimulating experience.
Professor Krishna is caring and he will work with you if you have questions. However, I had a hard time understanding his prompts, as they can be very long and worded very confusing. I wish his assignments were more straightforward. He also does an oral exam for 204B, which could be avoided if you take another professor.
If you like stress take him. If not, take someone else. Nobody can get perfect participation points. Tells you not to worry but expects you to think like him. Super hard grader and long feedbacks.
Dr. Guadalupe was one of the best teachers that I have ever taken classes with. He is a hard grader. Yet, he is caring and supportive. If you are ready to learn, his is the instructor. If you just want a grade, like one of my peers, these classes will be challenging. You will be pushed to think analytically!
These classes were part of the intensive undergraduate social work program. Professor Guadalupe was exceptional in his role. He provided detailed feedback on assignments, which was incredibly helpful for identifying areas for improvement. He was both caring and effective in holding students accountable. It was truly an honor to learn from him.
I can't believe this guy is still teaching. He asks sexual questions and personal questions to you if you're late. He would expect you to answer in front of the class. It was those questions, or you could wait outside and miss half the class. Or tell everyone why you were late and apologize. I almost lost it on him. Had to drop the class.
Dr. Guadalupe is an inspiring instructor who fosters critical thinking in creative ways. His grading is tough but fair, and he provides excellent feedback on assignments. If you're ready to engage, this class is for you. If you're looking for an easy grade, it's not. I truly appreciate how he helped me believe in myself.
An excellent class that serves as a valuable reminder to critically examine how oppressive therapeutic practices can sometimes become normalized when unquestioned. The coursework was challenging, but Dr. Guadalupe provided unwavering support and was always accessible. The feedback on assignments was insightful and constructive.
Great class and instructor. The theories discussed were occasionally challenging to grasp, but Dr. Guadalupe was patient and supportive. Despite being an online course, Dr. Guadalupe was accessible via phone and email. A great learning opportunity.
Professor Guadalupe truly cares and consistently goes the extra mile for students. He is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about the material. This class has pushed me to think more deeply and process my experiences in ways I didn't know were possible.
This professor is condescending. He thinks he is better than others. Some of his students experienced microaggressions. He made comments towards the students of color. He claims to be for the people and very progressive, but he is not.
Dr. Guadalupe is admired by many, though some find his expectations challenging. He's a tough but fair grader who gives thoughtful feedback on both strengths and areas for growth. While a few classmates struggled, I learned a lot and would definitely take his class again.
One of the most challenging MSW classes I've taken—but also one of the most rewarding. It pushed me out of my comfort zone & helped me grow. I learned so much about anti-oppressive, non-discriminatory assessment & intervention. This class truly reshaped how I see my role as a future social worker. Thank you Dr.Guadalupe. You have earned the title.
Dr. Guadalupe is an outstanding instructor who fosters deep engagement and critical thinking. His teaching style is inclusive, insightful, and grounded in real-world application. He creates a supportive environment that challenges students to grow professionally and personally.
Dr. Guadalupe was both caring and held us accountable. I appreciated the anti-oppressive approach to behavioral health. Although the assignments were challenging, they contributed significantly to my professional growth. I would definitely take him again if I could.
Excellent class and professor. Although the role plays were challenging, I found them enjoyable and valuable. The course provided great insights into being an effective and mindful case manager. I especially appreciated the concept of positionality and the idea of 'taking one's seat' when working with diverse communities. Highly recommended!
The BSW undergraduate summer program was intense, but highly engaging. Dr. Guadalupe was an outstanding instructor who made the classes enjoyable and interactive, incorporating activities such as role-playing and stimulating discussions. His approach made learning both fun and encouraging. I would gladly take another course with him in the future.
