do not take this class! he starts nice, and chill..soo misleading. i showed up for all but 4 classes, did the work, and even volunteered to read over 6 times in class, and he turned his attitude of "this is an easy class" to "some of you should be worried" just wish he would have been upfront about his expectations instead of downplaying to be cool
The class was a lot of fun - its really refreshing to have someone who is so passionate about what they teach. Thank you!
He was such a great teacher. HE made sure everyone spoke in class and gave everyone equal oppurtunity to fix their grades (with a valid argument) he was understanding and i would definitely take him again
Whoever posted otherwise must be thinking of someone else! He is very helpful and very understanding if you have things going on outside of school that might affect your attendance or concentration or whatever. He really knows his stuff and tries to relate it to present day things to put it in to perspective. He rocks!
One of the most devoted professors i have had.He is always willing to work with you,if you are willing to work with him.The class is not hard, but you still have to do your work and attend classes!Extremely enthusiastic about the subject and makes you want to get involved! One of the best teachers i've had, would definately recommend for everone :)
This is the best, most devoted professor I've had at Palomar. He loves the subject and the students. Book isn't needed, unless you want it for a take-home test. Tests are take-home, one quiz and no notes! The best class ever! The best teacher ever!
Very good teacher but teaches in a way that I was not used to so it took a while to adapt to it. Take home tests and one in class quiz. he is very passionate about teaching and wants everybody to do well in his class. Lectures arent really organized well but he feeds off his students. He made history not boring.
Krishna is such a patient and caring professor. He starts all his classes with a discussion of current events, urging students to formulate opinions based on fact. His lectures are like stories and are very intriguing. As long as you attend classes and pay attention, you'll do well. He is one of the best at Palomar College - consider taking him.
Awsome teacher, social class
Toolsie is a great professor. Gives take home exams which can be difficult but reasonable. Requires class participation on current event discussion so participate for grade. Teaches history from different perspective. Class is a lot of fun. I HIGHLY recomend him.
Awsome teacher, good class. I would recomend this teacher to anyone. He really cares.
Toolsie is truly a great teacher. He understands his stundents and organizes the class to your benefit. History was finally interesting and applicable.
easy class. starts out with a discussion of current events (participate if you want an A). 2 take home tests (identification and essay) and 1 in class quiz (short essay style)
I hate history, but I loved this teacher. Take this class if you want a great, easy going, no stress hist class. one take home test, a class presentation, and a final thats it. Toolise thanks for teaching. I feel luck to have had u.
A very good teacher, he makes the class easy. Gives us take home test and gives us a week to do them. The quizes you can use your book and tells you what to study. I do recommend him for history I had fun and Im taking him again for hist 102
he's great really easy, i wasnt there half the semester and got all my attendance points, he gives take home test and gives you extensions on papers and hes really nice
This man is a superb History teacher. Attendance goes toward participation points. Informative discussions about news and how it is related to the past. Dr. Toolsie has a great personality and is very helpful to his students. Issues three easy tests. Use the book for review. Teaches you to be comfortable speaking. One or two oral reports, easy.
Awesome teacher. Open book quizzes, take home mid-term and final, and a speech at the end of the semester. Attendance plays a major role in the class. Easy.
Toolsie is easily one of the best history teachers I've had. He's really passionate about what he's talking about, very comedic at times and cares a lot about his students and how they are performing. He gives Quiz material a week in advanced and the midterm is take home!! Loveddd this class!!!
He gives two open book quizes and a take home final and a take home midterm. You have one paper and one speech. That's all. The tests have a lot of short answer questions. He is very informed and is interested in what you have to say. Love him. Take his class. Sign up fast cause seat are hard to get in his class
Great teacher, take him if you can. You never use your text with the exception of two in-class quizzes. He's very personal and makes a point to know a little bit about every student in the class. Very social and fun class.
Mr. Toolsie is a really great teacher. He really cares about his students. He explains history like its a story so its easy to follow and remember. His 2 quizzes are open book and as long as you explain in your own words in detail you're good. His tests are also take home. Show up, do the work, youre guranteed an A. I would recommend him for anyone
His lectures were extremely boring, but then again I'm not a big fan of history. But he is a great teacher and a great guy. This is a very easy class. You just do your work and he gives you a good grade just as long as as you put effort into it. Even though I thought his lectures were boring, I would take him again if I could. Take home tests, too!
Great teacher, was easy to understand a little funny and you really didn't have to take notes you just had to listen. Hardly used the book, just show up to class, listen to the lecture, study on the things that are covered that our are not shure of and you should be fine. Great guy
i loved his class and i dont even like history! his class is fun. he is straight forward with assignments. no hw. 2 quizzes. 1 midterm . 1 final. take good notes. work hard. get an easy a. will take him again definetly :)
Professor Toolsie is the best history teacher in Palomar college. I don't have special intrest in History, but his class was so intresting and helpful and I learned everything right in the class. He has a fair attitude towards everyone and making an A is easy if you do your work and show intrest and also attened the class on time.highly recommended
Professor Toolsie was by far the most knowledgeable teacher Ive had. He made the material relevant for todays world and let you be the deciding factor on whether you did well or not. take home exams and attendance got me an A, and it was easy to do so. Thank you Mr. Toolsie for everything.
Mr. Toolsie is an amazing teacher!!! I have taken his class for 101 and 102. He makes learning history and enjoyable experience! highly recommended. Must attend class but if you attend you wont need to buy the textbook
If anyone had problems with this teacher it will be a miracle this is hands down one of the best teachers I have ever had the pleasure of taking. Very social, up front and strait forward, can speak his mind in a polite way and not come off rude at all. All you really have to do is show up for class and pay attention. Get this guy at all costs
Mr. Toolsie is very knowledgeable and easy going. He tries to relate History to the present by talking about current events that relate to past historical events. His policy has always been to make the student as comfortable as possible while rigorously applying the material. As a student of both of his courses, I would definitely recommend him.
AMAZING CLASS. The prof is simply WONDERFUL. Def take him. He tells you exactly what he wants, and he makes it easy for everyone to participate verbally in his class. You have to TRY to fail his class. He knows his material, barely looks at his notes. We didn't use the book. I LOVED Prof Toolsie and his class. Taking him next semester!
I have over 200 University units and this man is one of the best lecturers I've ever had. I cannot speak more highly of this man. A passion for the subject, a great storyteller, delivers the content on multi-levels, keeps a grasp on the here and now. Amazing man, top notch professor. Take him if you want the best.
TAKE HIS CLASS! He is simply amazing, and you really have to try to do poorly in his class.
Excellent professor has worked in government recently and knows what he is talking about. Does not paste his political or religious views on the students but portrays both sides. Very much a teacher that is Interested in teaching. Will give you all the help you need, you will enjoy History by the time the class is over.
I first met Mr. Toolsie and was about 4 months pregnant. I went through his fall and spring semester 102 and I loved his teaching methods. dont bother wasting money on the book, his midterm and final are take home andthere are 2 in class quizes, and an end of semester project and speech, simple but informative. two thumbs up toolsie surfs up
Such an amazing person. I loved this class so much. He tells the story of history with a passion and its nearly contagious. Be willing to discuss current events for the beginning of class for some extra points. Mid term and final are take home, but with lots of short answer and essay on them.
I really didn't like U.S. History, but because of Mr. Toolsie, I have a new found respect for it. Toolsie is probably the BEST history professor you will ever have. You can tell he enjoys what he does when he lectures and you can't help but to be excited as well. This man is awesome. I just wish he taught more classes at Palomar. :/
Toolsie is the BEST HISTORY TEACHER EVER. He is really funny and super engaging. His lectures are amazing, you will want to attend his class. All of his exams are take home so it's impossible to do bad on them. Besides, he really covers the material well so you pretty much know everything before taking it home anyway. I recommend taking his class!
Super easy class. All tests/quizzes are take home, you have a week to do them. Use the book for these!!! Lectures the whole class but he keeps it interesting. Easy A. Highly recommend.
Both mid-term and the fianl are take home. You have a week to do them. You can google all the answers. Easy grader. Looks for content. Give one speech and write one paper. Does not care have you give the speech: from your seat, from of class, etc. Two in-class quizzes of 6 terms. Gives you the terms a week prior to quiz. Easy class!!!
He truly cares about his students and is passionate about the material. Yes, two take home exams but they do require time and work. Two quizzes in class requires memorization. He allows a week for each test and quiz defiantly use that time. Amazing teacher :)
The B E S T professor I have ever had! He is kind, caring, funny, and very, very clear in his teaching and lectures. He answers all questions thoroughly and welcomes all opinions! An open session of "whats in the news" begins the class, and a lecture follows. Two take home tests (long, but easy As), two in class quizzes and an essay. TAKE HIM!!!!!!
Excellent Teacher! Very easy A. The information is presented in an interesting and enjoyable way. I've never rated a teacher before but I had to because he was that good.
Highly recommend.Very interesting lectures, funny guy. It is hard to fail, actually hard to not get an A.
He is a great teacher!!! I absolutely love this class. I would go just so I wouldn't miss anything. I have gotten a A on all assignments so far. Quizzes are a lot of work but you can not not get in A in this class. He wants to give you an A.
The most fair professor I've ever had. Sets out his grading policy the first day. Only 2 quizzes that you have to study for, but he gives you the terms a week before. Midterm & Final are take home. Takes off 5 points every day you are not there up to 5 days (25 points). Also gives 25 points for participation. Fair grading and nice guy.
One of the best professors, his lecture is very clear. He gives 2 quizzes, 1 midterm exam, 1 project ( presentation and essay ) and the final exam; final and midterm exams are take home, for quizzes he tells you what to study. He also gives 25 extra points for attending every class and 25 more for participation in the class (50 in total ) .
By far one of my favorite classes taken. His lectures are super interesting, he's not boring at all. There is only 2 in class quizzes, and your Mid-term and Final are take home. Its really up to the student to pass or not. I plan on taking his 102 class, I recommend him to anyone!
Honestly he is the best History teacher at Palomar College. Mr. Toolsie is very fair in everything. As long as you do your work, show up, and pay attention you will pass with flying colors. For 101-102 the books are not really mandatory which is nice. Overall he is just an awesome professor!
Awesome! He has a great sense of humor and really connects with students. Doesn't cram too much into lectures, and is very good at showing the significance of things later on in history. He likes participation in class; asking answering questions, giving feedback, or sharing what's in the news. Will definitley take him for my next hist class
I absolutely love this professor. If you show up on time, interact, and are respectful, this is the prof for you. Two quizzes with ample notice, a group speech & paper combo and a week to complete a take home midterm and final... it's nearly impossible to fail. If you do, you should probably reconsider school altogether. Just sayin.
he is amazing! such an easy class. you can take notes but he gives you all the questions for the tests anyways to study so i didnt take notes. easy A. he loves teaching and is very funny. wish i could take him again loved this class!!!!!!!!!
Get ready for a tough semester. I took this over summer and it was probably the hardest class. He gives you time to "prepare" for the quiz but hes a tough grader. He said he has only given 100% participation to one student in his career. Pick a different teacher if you cant make it to class everyday. Bright side, hes funny... Sometimes..
I took history 101 and 102 with Toolsie and although his workload for the class was at a high difficulty, he is by far my favorite professor at Palomar. He gives a project that you have the whole semester to complete, and it is tough but you actually will learn the information you research. He does not take lightly of a poor scholar so work hard!
Took class over summer, he gives you 10 topics for the 6 short essay question test. He looks for specific stuff (like the stuff you don't think you need to pay attention to) and then will downgrade you if one piece of information isn't there. Not necessarily hard, but definitely not easy. He's also a bit rude so don't take him if you're sensitive.
I took this class my first semester at Palomar and Prof Toolsie was AMAZING! I can not stand sitting in history classes because it doesn't interest me but Toolsie made in so interesting and his tests are take home and you bring in a typed essay for every test too. I tried to take someone else for 102 but I did not pass :( I'm taking his 102 class!
Great prof. Excellent lectures and loved the way he handled couple of bullies. Summer 101 was great and taking him again for 102.
AWESOME TEACHER! He's helpful in every way and he gives the easiest tests! 10/10 I would take this class again.
A very passionate professor who loves teaching History. One suggestion its to take him and show effort by studying and doing the homework. I would definitely take him again !
Professor Toolsie loves his job, and is very inspirational. He gets into his lectures, and is very passionate about the subject. He does not assign homework and the finals are take home. He wants students to succeed and offers endless possibilities to do so. He starts off lectures by asking us what is on the news, and has a great sense of humor.
He is the basic history professor. He lectures and his class is very very boring, it makes it hard to learn and grasp concepts. Make sure to ask him what he wants from you for take home tests because he changes up things sometimes and then forgets he said that. Make sure to study for quizzes or it'll hurt your grade.
Great lectures, great professor, loved his class
He was super great. I look forward to taking his 102 class in my upcoming semester. He is very dedicated, but don't try to reach him on the weekends because he lives in the boonies which he explains again and again. His knowledge of our history is non bias in my opinion and straight to the point, no matter how difficult the nature.
I only needed to take this class as a prereq, but Toolsie makes me want to study history more! He's one of the good guys and wants everyone to succeed. You need to show up and participate in his class, so if either of those are things that you hate to do, this is not the class for you. Pay attention and take good notes, and you won't need the book
Definitely one of the BEST lecture givers ever! His lectures are always interesting and the class begins with "whats in the news?" Very interesting and 10/10 recommend . Theres barely any homework and a "take-home" midterm. Quizzes are easy if you studied. Overall, very great professor!
Krishna Toolsie is an amazing teacher and person. His teaching styles are somewhat un-traditional, but if you show up, participate and do decent on the quizzes you should get an A. The tests are take home as well, but are composed of essay questions, so you still have to earn your grade. He is a fair grader on the quizzes and tests.
Mr. Toolsie is a fair teacher. He is very knowledgeable about history. I liked both his 101 and 102 classes. He does not just make you memorize people and dates. He lets you know exactly what to study for. Mid-term and final are take home. He does have you do a research project with a speech. You can work with a partner or on your own.
You'll only have 3 quizzes a midterm and a final. Both the midterm and final are take home so it's super easy it will just take a while to finish at home. The quizzes are easy because he gives you the things that will be on the quiz and you just have to study those. One group project also easy. Participation and attendance really matter so show up.
I'd truly be surprised if there is anything history related that Krishna doesn't know about. He's also abreast on pretty much all current events. He opens up his classroom as a warm safe environment for students to learn in. He only asks for respect, and due diligence. His lectures are actually fun, and every student in the class enjoyed it. Great!
Ive taken Toolsie for history 101 +102. Its the perfect class to take if you're taking multiple classes at once. No homework, there's one midterm, final, two quizzes and a group presentation. Show up to class everyday and participate in group discussions and you'll get an A. He's really inspiring too, you'll leave the class with a more open mind
Professor Toolsie was awesome. His lectures were fun, he cares and makes it extremely easy for his students to succeed in his class. I learned a lot with professor Toolsie but more importantly enjoyed going to his class.
Best professor I've had yet
Professor Toolsie does not teach in a traditional way, he makes you get outside your comfort zone and think about things outside of the classroom. I took his 8 week summer course and got an A, but the amount that I learned in that short period of time is amazing. I still can't believe I learned and remember everything from his class.
Makes the class so you can get the grade you want. He wants to see you succeed. 2 in class quizzes, 2 take home exams, group project. Make sure you are in class everyday and on time, unless there is an emergency. Make sure to participate and talk in class every day to get full participation points. Follow his rules, and you will do just fine.
Had him for His109, his way of teaching style is easier to follow and it isn't death by power point. He talks about his lecture notes in his own style and lets you bring your own opinion as long as you back it up with facts. Would take him for every history class I need if he taught them all.
Such a cool professor!
Professor Toolsie is wonderful! Makes lectures like a story. Participation/Attendance graded. Opinions welcomed if with facts. Teaches both sides of history's, story (good & bad). 1 project (written/oral), 2 quizzes (topics a week ahead), take home, written, mid-term and final. Respectful and wants the class to learn history. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
This was a very easy class. There is a take home midterm and final, one semester essay project, and two in class quizzes, but you know EXACTLY what will be on them. Very easy class, and would highly recommend.
Great professor everything that is from History 101 comments, very true, from 2018 he makes you want to learn. PARTICIPATE. I am planning on taking his History 102.
An all around great experience in this class. He does why away from tough topics of history and ensures a good balance of all sides of each historical event are told and understood. I didn't really care much for history before taking this class. Now I very impatiently waiting the next time I'll be able to learn from this professor again.
Professor Toolsie is a great man! The only issues that I have with his class are that he is hard to reach outside of class (so make sure you get another student's phone number or email) and he doesn't follow a PowerPoint or anything. He just speaks his lectures and it's kind of up to the student to decide what's important to write down.
He tells the material as if it's a story, which I found to be helpful to understand. He tells you EXACTLY what will be on the quizzes (there are only 2 of them). If you show up every day & participate you will do fine. Take-home midterm & final along with a group project at end. He really wants everyone to pass. Overall kind and caring professor.
Professor Toolsie is awesome! He genuinely wants his students to succeed. He tells you EXACTLY whats on every test. No homework ever. All he really graded is two quizzes, participation + attendance, midterm, final/project. Recommend him!
Test and midterm are take home. LOVE how he tells you EXACTLY what will be on the quizzes and tests, no surprises. His lectures are really interesting and as long as you show up and participate you'll be fine. He cares a lot for his students and is flexible, if you miss something on a quiz you'll still get some credit. Very inspirational
Professor Toolsie is a great lecturer. I find all of his topics interesting and he engages everyone in class. He cares about individuals learning not just our history, but also current events and why it is important. I would love to take all of his classes.
Fantastic and caring teacher. Sets clear expectations at the beginning of semester and communicates every class. Teaches what will be on quizzes and tests. Completed History 101 and 102 with him. Would definitely take him again!
Took him for History 101 & 102. Easy class as long as you study. He is a really caring professor. Can be funny too. 2 quizs, mid term, final, and group project (speech and paper). Thats it really. Participation and attendance is graded.
Didnt like history before this class. Class was straight forward and he makes sure everyone has a chance to pass with an A if you do your work. Definitely recommend.
He is one of the sweetest teachers to have. He loves speaking and is easy to have a conversation with. He gives you so much time to study and get assignments done. He is very funny and brings up his own stories about his life. He will help you get a higher grade if you're really close to it. He just wants his students to do well. A lovely person!
Loved this class. Basically do your work and youll pass. Half of my class got As and it was a 4 week class! Just do your work and he tells you whats on each test. I hated history before this class too.
Prof. Toolsie makes it easy to get a good grade AND to actually learn history! I loved his class and how he told history like a story. He kept it real and interesting. Take home midterm, take home final, in class quizzes, and group project. He relates curr. events to history and gives you a chance to earn easy participation points. Take his class!!
Professor Toolsie is a teacher that cares about the well being of his students. He teaches very passionately and helps the students understand the events with clarity. He is definitely one of my favorite teachers. In this class expect to write a lot however I found that it's easy if you make study partners. Overall this teacher is a good choice!!
Professor Toolsie is a passionate teacher, but is a tad boring. He cares about the students so has take home exams. He is completely against multiple choice questions and therefore has a lot of writing in the exams. If you work hard, participate, and come to class you will get a good grade.
Hands down the best professor I have ever had. He genuinely cares for his students not only about their grade in the class but their lives. 2 take home tests, he tells you exactly what is on the 2 quizzes. His passion for history actually makes you enjoy going to class. I highly recommend him to anyone. I'm glad to have been apart of his classes.
You cannot get in contact with professor toolsie outside of class, however he will do his very best to see that you pass his class with flying colors! A kind, funny soul and an excellent professor, 10/10 would recommend
Don't expect him to read your emails
I took History 101 & 102 with Toolsie. LOVED HIM! Attendance matters, but you get a great lecture that is exciting and fun. He is very clear in expectations which makes it easy to pass. He reminds you of homework and tests and is a very knowledgeable man. I completely enjoyed my classes with him and wish I could learn more History from him!
Professor Toolsie is a great teacher and will actually teach you real history, not sugarcoated or watered down. The textbook is cheap online and was used to help reinforce ideas. He gives you the answers to the quizzes and tests
Professor Toolsie wants his students to succeed!! He is helpful during lectures but not as reachable through email. He tells you what he expects on the quizzes/tests and papers. During his lectures, take notes because it will be on the quiz or exam.
Professor Toolsie was awesome when it came to working with me and understanding the unforeseen circumstances that interrupted our school semester as Im sure he did with many others. I did get to have a few in person class interactions with him as well, real down to earth guy truly just wants yall to succeed and at least try your best.
The work for this class is 4 quizzes, a term paper that you can partner up with a classmate on, and a midterm and final. The midterm and final both ended up being around 12 pages long for me so if you don't like writing this isn't the class for you. His lectures are VERY dry. All assignments are open book.
Toolsie was just a great lecturer. I am so sad that because of Covid 19 our class was cut short. His lectures are the best part of the class. If you follow along in the book, show up, pay attention and speak up once in a while, you will learn a lot.
I have loved all of my professors at Palomar College so far, however this one was just the worst, many students have spoken up about their concerns about homework, quizzes, teaching us, but he would never answer with a concrete, simple answer; and he would be very rude to those who asked him to teach us and say this is my class you can leave...
He's very inappropriate; he mentions past student experiences that should be kept private. He also keeps trying to connect with his younger audience by cursing a lot, telling everyone that this class is easy. He isn't precise and doesn't make clear points in his zooms, making each quiz and zoom pointless and a hassle. This class is NOT worth it.
This professor was probably the worst professor Ive had in my college career so far. He disrespected his students with his language and I as a student could not respect him from that point on. Expect to write long papers... my midterm was 14 pages and still received an A-. Lectures were bland and did not cover half of what he wanted in his tests.
Not a great class. Only 5 papers (Term Paper, 2 Quizzes, Midterm, Final Term). However, it is a LOT of writing (about 10 topics to write about and about 2 paragraphs EACH topic + essay for the midterm/final-term paper). If you are shy or have social anxiety, this class isn't for you; has positive attitude only when people have cameras/mics on.
I would not recommend Professor Toolsie. His lectures are unclear and hard to follow, and questions were quickly discouraged due to his response to students by singling them out. There's only a few assignments to turn in, but each one is very time consuming since you don't really learn it in the lecture. He loves to talk about how easy his class is
Teaching style is not really my cup of tea, but relatively easy class to get through. Maybe if it was in person I would enjoy it more.
A lot of people complain out this Professor. However, if youre not willing to put in the work, you wont receive the grade you expect! This is college. We shouldnt seek the easy way out. Were paying for this education, so we should ALWAYS work hard. We have a WEEK to complete our assignments mind you. Only 5 writing assignments. Favorite class!
Literally slept through his lectures. They had nothing to do with the quizzes given and he gives out no other assignments except a term paper and the midterm. Kept saying we are adults and to respect each other, but disrespected students. Couldn't tell if his internet was just being laggy or if he was an actual jerk, either way I did not enjoy class
Was an okay professor. Gave us multiple days to a week for test assignments, although they were the only grades making it a tad stressful. Lectures were a bit all over the place and for most of the information I ended up going to the internet instead. He did disrespect students at certain times which is why I don't have much respect for him myself.
Professor Toolsie is a great professor. His class was not stressful, yet I feel like I learned quite a bit. It is clear that he cares a lot about his job and prioritizes us student's education over anything else. I truly enjoyed the zooms and often didn't even feel like I was in class because of the interesting things we talked about!
He really cares for his students and expect the best from us and believes us to be great human beings and scholars. Not a lot of assignments at all, but just a little writing heavy with plenty of time to complete it. Being online is hard and but he does a great job!
He is one of the best professors I have had while at Palomar. I had him as well for History 102 and both classes are the identical style of teaching. Listen to lectures, take notes, then 2 quizzes, 1 essay on topic of our choice, and a Mid-Term and Final Exam. He is so kind and just wants his students to be successful in his class. 10/10
I absolutely loved this class! I've always judged U.S. history and American politics, but Professor Toolsie REALLY took us through the ACTUAL impacts throughout America that shaped the American people and landscape we have today, with all of our flaws and errors! I see negative reviews on here... I guess college discipline isn't for everyone! LOL
The best history professor I've ever known! You'll get your history in his class for sure. It was an easy A for me! Just read, take notes, and your papers will come from your notes. This class is for serious students who attend, participate, and do their work on time! The students who complain are the ones who can't keep up at the college level!!!
The best history professor I've ever known! His classes are for serious students who attend, participate, and do their work on time! It was an easy A for me! He is the best History professor at Palomar. Also had him for History 101 and both classes are the same AMAZING style of teaching. Take notes while listening to lectures, it helps with the quizzes and exams, which are easy if you have your notes! He cares for his students' scholarship unlike other professors who just give us multiple choice tests.
Professor Toolsie is by far the most caring most respected professor I have ever had, his way of teaching is unique and definitely a fun way to learn history, he respected our different point of views as every professor should. he cares for every single one of his students and if you work towards your grade you'll have a great time!
Krishna Toolsie I would recommend to anyone who is looking to take a history course. He is passionate about his job, passionate about his lectures, and passionate about his students success. He gives the assignments out days before they're due, so you have plenty of time to do your best work. Not a stressful class at all. TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!!!!!!
One of the best teachers at Palomar. He teaches from a student perspective. If you love to write, take this class. By writing, you enjoy the topic as wells as understand better and deeper historical events. Hes passionate about History and rewards participation no matter your ideology. His class provides intellectual growth. I highly recommend.
Krishna Toolsie is a great guy. He cares about history, and it is reflected in his lectures. He knows not everyone will pay attention during class, so his assignments are intended for you to do your own research and learn the material yourself. You have a week to do all quizzes and exams, and the entire term to write a paper. Take his class.
Prof. Toolsie is an amazing professor, he gave 110% every single time and had flawless engagement with the class. The exams and quizzes are very easy if you just pay attention to his teachings. He breaks things down simple and overall his class was fun and he was awesome I have no complaints. People complaining are the ones not ready for college.
Professor Toolsie is a fantastic professor. Besides conveying his passion for teaching through high-quality lecturing, he makes his students feel very welcomed through his comedic persona. There are six major assignments for this class and are all open book, making the exams and quizzes quite easy. I 100% endorse prof. Toolsie!
Prof. Toolsie is so passionate and dedicated to teaching history- it's truly inspiring. He's not very tech savy but his personality and lecture content completely makes up for this. Really enjoyed his class and appreciated the energy he brought to his material. Would love to take another class of his later down the line!
Great Professor! participate and show up for class. really hard to fail his class doesn't assign homework just quizzes which for some he will give you a whole week to do which is MORE THEN ENOUGH time. Really cares for his students and sets every student up for success. Had no problem with professor Toolsie at all!
There is a term paper which can be done with classmates (the paper's primary purpose), and you get to choose the paper's topic. The assignment is presented within the first two weeks. Neither excuses or late papers are accepted. Professor Toolsie's style of teaching is very discussion based, there is a lecture and an open forum for questions.
He is a really good professor! A lot of writing, but it is all open-book and open-note, making for an easy A. There were only four essays in total. He is not the most tech-savvy, but he is fair. I accidentally sent my essay to a mistyped email, and it didn't go through until I let him know, and he was very understanding and gave me a good grade.
Toolsie is a great professor. As long as you do EXACTLY what he says, you're in for an A. He gives few assignments, easy grader, and is a funny guy. Participation in his zoom classes counts for a grade so don't even try to get around that, he'll call you out. Great class, totally recommend
The work for the class is easy. 3 exams & 1 paper. The man talks FOREVER. Beware of long(3hrs), boring, slightly off topic lectures and you have to go to all of them. All the exams are short answer/essay response. Again none of it is hard but they do take time.
Not bad overall, but I didn't like having to hear a 15-min speech for the failing students every lecture. I didn't need to hear all that on top of my own stress. not very organized and doesn't do emails. Good feedback, good material, 2 exams 2 quizzes 1 paper. doesn't act like it but truly caring professor. I learned a lot in his class!
The lectures are dull, you basically sit in front of your computer for 2-3 hours with him using google images to go through the timeline then write papers. He made the class uncomfortable many times and will speak condescendingly to you if you ask "unintelligent" questions in front of the class.
good professor, his lectures are long but interesting, the textbook is very handy for all of the papers
He was a great first teacher! Really easy to pass, just sit through his lecture and take lots of notes. As long as you arrive on time and don't miss much its really easy to get along with him. I wish he was doing History 102 so I could take him again!
8 week course taken over the summer, I didn't like how how you were only graded on written work, there is no tests or quizzes only sets of open ended questions and essays that you have a few days to work on. 1 week you will have no work to do, the next week you will be having to complete a lot of writing assignments in 4 days. Not spread out well.
I took US. Reconstruction online over the summer and it was a very easy class. You have two quizzes, a midterm, a term paper project, and a final exam which all have specific grading rubrics. There is a lot of research that needs to be done for each assignment and it takes a while, but requires a lot less work than other classes.
His quizzes are 10 questions of a very broad topic such as Identify the significance, importance of X person include dates etc. and write a minimum 2 paragraph. But the textbook and pre-recorded lectures will vaguely if at all cover that topic. Which means you have to research outside of the textbook and lectures (which are boring and off topic).
He's awesome, take him! Really funny, and easy grader as long as you do the work. Tests are take-home, you have a full day to do them, and if you do the reading you will be just fine.
Professor Toolsie's HIIST101 class was a great introduction to history. The lectures were engaging, though lengthy at times. Attending class and taking notes was crucial, but the workload was manageable. I found unstuckstudy's practice quizzes really helpful for exam prep alongside the textbook.
I loved this professor; his class was very easy. It's just 2 Quizzes, a midterm and final exam, and the term paper, which you have the whole semester to do. The instructions are simple and the workload is not much at all with the time he gives to do the work. I would definitely take this class again.
