Really good teacher.
great teacher willing to help outside of class
She is one of THE best teachers I ever had. You'll see that math is easy if you attend her class :)
Awesome teacher, very clear and understandable. I would recommend this professor to anyone.
She talks too much and her notes can be confusing. Other than that she is absolutely awesome and great to listen to in class. Also, she grades HW and quizzes hard and exams easy. So don't worry. You'll do fine.
Yea, she talks a lot. Besides that, she is good at calculus and teaching it. One of the best I have had. She is a major stickler for showing work. Your grade will plummet if you don't show work.
She goes over a lot of examples, if you understand her lecture you will do well in the class. I had her for 155 and 156. I would highly recommend her. Take her class and you will do great she is the best math teacher that I ever had so far, and you will never feel bored in her class.
Knows how to teach. Very helpful.
Fantastic teacher. She definitely cares for getting students to understand the material. Her exams were easy for me, but I did all of the recommended homework. If you don't do your homework, then you probably won't dowell. She always pulls problems related to the homework and quizzes that you do, and none harder than those!
Krista is by far the best math teacher at this university. Change your schedule to take her if you can, shes awesome. So clear, you definitely should study and do some homework because calculus is difficult. Alot of the test questions and quiz questions are HW examples.
This is a teacher of the highest order! She explains the material so well that attendance is integral to your success. Her style is far from ordinary, and rarely derivative. She pushes you to the limit to ensure you understand the concepts. Yes she sometimes diverges offtopic but it is never improper. With this teacher, you can't go Wronskian!
The mathematics department gives standardized quizzes, homework, and, most importantly, tests. Still, Dr. Toth covers a wide array of examples so, if you put enough hours into homework and study, you can get an A with ease.
Regarding to myself : 1-most of her quizzes related to web assign homework 2- studying from her lecture notes was not enough to get a good grade 3- some of web assign problems were not related to the lecture notes 4- Her exams were hard, so you may feel shocked during the exam 5- she made me confuse in some topics 6-the final exam was hard
She is BY FAR the best math teacher i've had here. EXTREMELY thorough and down to earth. Her tests and quizzes aren't bad at all and are very similar to the homework. I retook calc 1 with her after failing with another prof. , and got an A! Arrange your schedule at all costs so that you can have her!
Krista goes out of her way to make sure that students understand the material she is teaching. She always answers questions, and if she can't, she writes it down to figure it out when she gets home. Her magical ways make a hard subject seem simple and easy. The best aspect to her teaching is that she wants to see her students succeed.
Krista is a fantastic teacher. She is fun, down-to-earth, and absolutely loves her job. She presents the material clearly and answers any questions. Definitely take her if you have the opportunity.
Great teacher. Probably the best for calculus if you want to pass 156
Professor Toth was an extraordinary instructor for Calculus 2. She presents the material in a way that makes it easy for students to understand. By no means in Calculus 2 easy, but Professor Toth your best chance to get an A. I also had her for ENGR Calculus 1 and she was also great for that class. She has a great understanding of the subject.
I'm pretty certain that she is the best calculus professor I've had thus far. I wish I could take her for c3. This is evident in that I actually understand the material for once. That being said you should really work at the practice problems. She can be a tough grader, but only because she wants to make sure you genuinely understand the concepts.
She gave very clear lectures and helped the students out as much as possible. I would defiantly recomend for calc 2
One of the best math teachers I have ever had. She is so passionate about what she does and makes it very easy to learn the material. Attendance isn't mandatory but going to class makes a world of difference. Quizzes and tests have problems straight out of the book, so check that out beforehand. All in all, not a hard class to pass.
She knows her stuff and she has been teaching for a while, so as far as college professors go, she is good, and probably one of the better calc 2 professors at WVU. She is a VERY harsh grader, and extremely picky on proper math notation. Very few extra credit point opportunities, though you do get to drop your lowest quiz.
I had Krista for three calc classes and will for calc 4. She is a prof who genuinely cares about her students. If you go to her and put in work she will help you achieve the grade you want. Once I took Krista I didn't want to take anyone else. If you listen to her the class is very simple but she will push you for the grade. Made me actually learn.
Krista has a passion for what she does and cares about each student and their success. Homework is given weekly for a grade, but she also provides practice problems that she will look over and provide feedback so you can learn from your mistakes and wont have a negative impact on your grade. Seriously one of the best math professors at WVU.
Amazing professor the course material is tough in some areas but if you do a little work on your own and stay driven this class is an easy pass with her as the professor.
If you see her as an option pick her it's that simple.
She is an absolutely amazing professor. She explains everything in a very clear way and makes sure you understand it. What she teaches is exactly what's given for homework, quizzes, and exams. I would recommend her 110%!
I loved Krista! She is defintitely one of the best math teachers I have ever had. She throughly explained examples during lecture. There was never a topic on a test or quiz that was not previously explained during class. She left good feedback on graded papers and returned them in a timely manner. She cared about your success.
Krysta is an amazing teacher! She takes time to really break down problems and makes sure everyone understands. She's very into the group learning thing, she doesn't lecture a lot but gives out packets which she has everyone work on, then goes through. She's a lot like Vicki Sealey, if you've ever had her. Basically, if she's an option, go for it!
So the first during and after the first lecture I was terrified that the "group learning" hippy bull- would make learning the material next to impossible. How are we supposed to teach ourselves diferential equations!? However, it turned out to be one of my most productive math classes I have ever taken. I am so happy I didn't drop lecture one.
Krista is a fantastic professor!! Math 261 is a extremely difficult class and she taught difficult material to the best of her ability to make sure everyone understood what was going on. If you put in the effort to be a good student and do the in class work and homework then you will not only pass you will do well on the tests!
Krista is by far the best math teacher I've ever, and probably will ever have. She is not your average college professor. She cares about how well her students do, and teaches Calc 2 material extremely well, to make sure we all understand it. Always wants a relaxed classroom style. She LOVES math and wants all her students to. 10/10 would recommend
She was great In and outside of class. It felt like she actually cared how Well her students understood the material. However, her tests could be very difficult and contain types of questions that were not covered in class.
Krista was super helpful and gave great notes! Attend class, study for the quizzes and do the homework. Tests were straightforward but challenging.
Krista is one of the best professors that I've ever had. She is very caring and approachable. She teaches really well, but also makes class entertaining at the same time. I definitely recommend her!
loved her class
-Takes the time to both present the material and discuss the proof behind it (though you won't be expected to memorize the proof). -Cares more about your understanding than anything else -Exams are tough, but not nearly the hardest thing in the world -Tells funny stories -Great tattoos -Likes Game of Thrones
Krista is a fantastic professor. She always was willing to get more personally attached to her students and to try her best to help them. Even when she had some personal matters occurring to herself, she always maintained a professional and caring composure. I will recommend her to anyone.
By far the best professor in the math department and possibly my favorite on campus. Knows how to connect with her students while keeping it professional when she has to. Easy to reach and a resource both regarding class and life issues. Not afraid to be herself which makes the class that much more comfortable and exciting. 100% take her classes
Does not explain concepts well, she is super hard on grading and will not give any credit for any problem if wrong, gives one example per topic and expects you to know how to do them instantly, quizzes and exams are difficult and have very few problems on them for the amount of points theyre worth, might want to choose a better prof if possible
literally one of the sweetest professors I have ever had, totally respected in the math department. try to take her at least once. She genuinely cares about her students and will make an effort to know them by name. try to get to know her. her lectures also tend to be pretty easy to follow and engaging. exams are always fair
One of the best professors/people I've ever met in my life. She is so passionate and caring. Go to her office hours if you need help and she will do everything she can to help you. She is encouraging, caring, and not condescending like a lot of math profs are. She is fair and wants you to succeed. Highly recommend.
Professor Bresock is absolutely amazing. The course is laid out to where if you watch the lecture videos, you will do just fine. She also sets the class up with a mastery based objective grading scale. Gives you plenty of chances to master an objective. Amazing teacher 10/10.
She is so wonderful, funny, and kind but she is also great at explaining the material and gives so many chances to do better and I love her. Best math class I have ever had.
I'll start off saying that I created this account just to say that she is literally the best teacher I have had so far.
Professor Bresock is the best professor I have ever had. She follows mastery-based grading and allows retakes on all assignments (at least this semester). She truly cares about the mental health of her students. She is truly a unique professor. Need an extension? No problem. While the concepts may be difficult, she is always available for help.
Fantastic teacher that clearly cares about all her students. She gives out a lot of resources and has great lectures that can help anybody that's struggling with a topic. Mastery-based grading is amazing and allows you to really understand each topic, even if it might take you a little while longer than most others.
Prof Bresock was probably the best math teacher Ive ever had! She explained everything in a way that made sense to me, and she cares that you learn more than anything. She is also so understanding and is more than willing to give you extensions and help when you need it! Definitely recommend!
She is absolutely one of the best teachers I've ever had. She's caring, easily accessible, and she genuinely made math stress free and fun. Her exams and quizzes are not timed, and it's graded via mastery based (which can be a little confusing at first but I prefer it). I really struggled with MATH 153 (got a C) but I got an A in 154!
Dr. Bresock is such an amazing professor and woman. She is so nice and truly cares about each of her students. She made learning calculus as easy as possible with her mastery based grading system. This allows many students the opportunity to succeed. She also is very accommodating and wants what's best for her students. Overall, great professor!
Best math instructor ever. She offers so many opportunities to get you to pass with an A, and she is a very likeable person. Her lectures are hilarious and always showing us pictures of her cats. and they are very adorable! I would recommend this professor anytime, and she is there for you and cares a lot.
I had this class online which made a huge difference. She's a good teacher, but I didn't get a lot of that since there were no lectures. We just watched YouTube videos of someone else teaching it. We then had to translate it into what she would accept. This was really difficult bc she is such a tough grader. Just don't take it online
If you have to take any Calculus courses, take Professor Bresock! She's kind, funny, and amazing at teaching Calc. She breaks down these very intimidating concepts and makes them doable that I could go to a 5-year old and teach them Calculus with how understandable she makes these Calc concepts seem. Overall must take in my opinion.
The kindest and sweetest professor I've ever had. I cannot say how well the professor teaches and how kind she is throughout the entire semester. Really easy on grades and many opportunities to bring your grade up. Easy to talk to and truly a friend of students.
The grading is what gets me. Objective based grading, if you don't show you completely understand or show enough work, zero credit. It is very different and if you thrive on partial credit, Bresock will be tough. She does teach well and is very nice. I just am not a fan of this grading style.
Amazing teacher. Does everything to help you pass the class. 4 tests and 10 quizzes. Different grading system where you either get a 100 or 0 on each question. Takes some time to get used to, but is good. Would 100% change my whole schedule around to make sure I get her again. 10/10
The objective based grading will make you want to throw yourself at a brick wall all semester long. Yo9u are basically only graded perfection and not understanding of the topic. This grading scale is apparently her PHD disertation topic (I think) and it made me feel like an absolute lab rate and it wrecked my GPA. Bad grading/teacher, great person.
Professor Bresock is AMAZING!!!! I will recommend her for the rest of my life. She is the sweetest woman and makes calculus way more tolerable and easy to understand.
Bresock does a good job at teaching the material. She explains everything well and is fairly organized. My only complaint is that in the last month of the semester she was behind the other professors and thus we were tested on things that we either just went over or had not gone over. Otherwise she did well.
best professor in all of WVU. She truly truly truly truly cares about her students, and she will do everything to make sure you get the grade you want. Shes very approachable and loves participation from the students. I love you Professor Bresock thank you for everything.
Bresock is fantastic! Great sense of humor that keeps lectures interesting and engaging. Young soul with a lot of energy that empathizes with students. Her grading style is pretty unorthodox but it is in no way a bad system and is VERY clear when grading.
Professor Bresock was one of the best math professors I have had by far. She relates everything to her life, specifically her cats, and makes the lectures interesting and easy to understand. I have never understood calculus as well as I did with her. I got a C in math 153 but excelled with an A in math 154. Take Krista if you can!
I did bad but it wasn't her fault
Professor Bresock is a great math teacher! She is good at explaining things and always makes sure no one has any questions. Her objective-based grading system is great because if you miss a problem, you have a chance to answer it on a future assignment to get credit for it. She is also a very fun person! 100% would take her again.
Professor Bresock was amazing! She truly cares for her students and gives multiple opportunities for success in her class. As long as you pay attention in class and ask questions, you should have no problem getting a good grade. Her objective-based grading system made the course very low stress, while learning calculus!
Krista is a queen! I didn't do well but it was not her fault. I would take her for all my maths if I could, she truly loves to see her students succeed and cares a lot about her students.
I LOVE Krista with my whole heart. I got a D MATH 154 over the summer after usually being strong in math and was not looking forward to taking this class at all. Krista's objective-based grading helped me learn so much and she is a very caring woman who loves her job and it shows in the style of her lectures. She made me want to go to class.
Dr. Bresock is the best math professor I have ever had! Calc 2 is the class you always here about being terrible and she made it very manageable. She is willing to help each student learn and objective based grading is amazing. She make the worst topics easier to understand and she deserves all the good things you hear about her.
awesome
If you have Dr. Bresock, count yourself lucky. She is incredible and her lectures are as fun as calculus can be. She puts cats in all the word problems and is hilarious. Very available during office hours and always helpful when answering questions. I cannot recommend her enough. Her positivity about math is contagious and unmatched. 10/10
Bresock is one the best professors I've had, hands down. Very caring for her students and will do anything to help you.
One of the best teachers at this university. She gives you six tries to complete an objective twice. You can talk to her about anything, lectures are amazing and funny. She keeps you engaged.
Uses an objective based grading system. No partial credit is given. Exam questions are completely different from the homework and graded overly strictly. Will fail you by even half a point
One of the best professors I've had here. It could be just me, but I found this way easier than Calc 3. She didn't provide her notes on ecampus, so make sure to come to class. Her lectures are very engaging and she's very funny, so it's not such a big deal. If you look over your notes and do the practice problems, the class should be a breeze.
Professor Bresock may be a good math teacher for other classes, however, she is horrible for Math 153. She is a very sweet woman, but she had no idea what was going on in the class. She never lectures and tells you to work out the problems with the students at your table. It was stressful to prepare for exams because you do not have any notes.
Bresock is an excellent professor and does a great job explaining math. She is good at relating new concepts to things that you already know. She is also great to work with outside of the classroom. If you are having trouble with the class you should go to her office hours.
Dr. Bresock is very passionate about teaching and math. Very caring and does her best to help students, lectures were engaging, and homeworks/exams were extremely similar to what was done in class. Gave many opportunities for help, and had an automatic curve built in to the exams. My only wish is that she was teaching Calc 2 and 3 as well!
She's amazing and I wish I could take her again. She makes hard math really easy to understand, and she explains it with so much enthusiasm and joy, that it nearly convinces you that math is fun. The exams are basically the same as notes from class, homework, & quizzes; literally no surprises. If you can get her for 261, I would for sure take her!
The worst professor I have taken. Do not take this class online because the videos for the work are terrible and do not help you at all. She expects you to sit in front of your computer for 4 hours a day even if you are taking this in the Summer. Takes forever to get graded work back, overall just a terrible professor.
261 is VERY HARD, but Bresock makes it enjoyable. It will really highlight how hard 261 is, and how good at math you are, since she is a great teacher. The final was the hardest final I've ever taken, so do everything you can to lessen the load of it. The semester-long memorization and execution combined makes exams very difficult.
Absolutely love her! One of my favorite professors. The class was personally difficult for me, but I feel like that was my issue. She explained the concepts very well and would make the whole class laugh. It is very clear that she knows what she is doing. She would put pictures of her cats on the quizzes and always encouraged us!
The class was not too hard and she clearly cares about her students. She is very helpful so don't be scared to go to office hours. The one downside is the weekly quizzes. But if you study for the quizzes and exams the course is very easy
This was my second time taking calc 2 and Dr. Bresock has a way of explaining things that makes it very easy to understand.
Dr. Bresock was so great! She was kind, and she made learning this difficult math seem easy. Definitely one of the best math teachers as had. She explained it in a way that was intuitive and easy to follow, something really important in math. She made it fun.
The course is test heavy but she uses a topic check off system instead of a percentage system. Like you need checks on 14-18 topics to get an A. There are many opportunities to do well, questions are repeated on exams so you can try again and she really cares. Honestly the best I've done in a math class ever, She is very supportive.
She has very good lectures and provides students with a lot of material to prepare for exams. Office hours are very useful.
She is an amazing teacher and so nice. Class is always engaging, and she really has an ability to make difficult concepts stick. The examples in class are extremely helpful for doing homework problems. The Friday quizzes are tedious but they are exactly like the previous homework, so no surprises. If I could take her for every math class, I would!!
Dr. Bresock made my least favorite subject a breeze. She gives great lectures and actually wants to see us succeed and does her best to provide great examples for tough concepts. The exams seem relatively easy aside from going "blank" on a concept in the moment. If I had to continue onto calc 2, I'd 100% recommend her!
Best math professor I have had at WVU
Dr. Bresock made a hard class more doable. Lectures are great and thorough, and she is def the best professor of all the MATH156 ones. Tests are very challenging and grading is harsh, but you'll do fine if you study. She has a unique sense of humor, which made class fun! Beware... lots of quizzes.
She teaches the material so well in lecture, if you miss class you wont know what you are doing, but if you go to class you'll be set. Quizzes every friday which suck, but all the professors do this. Exams aren't bad as long as you can confidently do the homework. Funny gal, love her so much, wish I could take her for calc 3 and 4.
I wish I could take Dr. Bresock for every math, so clear and concise in lectures. She makes sure that you understand. Her office hours can be busy but extremely helpful, really recommend!!
Dr. Bresock is probably the best person I have ever met when it comes to explaining complex math, such as Calc 2. She made the concepts easier to understand and follow and she is always willing to help outside of class. She genuinely wants all of her students to succeed and do well. I genuinely looked forward to waking up early to go her lecture.
Dr. B was my favorite math teacher ever. She makes learning math fun, and always brings the energy. You always know exactly what will be on the tests and quizzes, it comes right from the homework. Definetly take her if you get her class, or switch into her class if you dont have her.
Bresock is an amazing Calculus professor. Hilarious, very good at explaining details and brings a great energy to the classroom. Take her for Calc I and II if you can!
Very nice teacher, explains things beautifully. If math isn't your thing, this is the best teacher to take for this course (although, apparently, compared to the other teachers, that isn't saying much).
