This was her first year teaching college but she was GREAT...She is super friendly, gives extra credit, and makes biology easy and fun to understand...I took her class at the el toro campus and loved it....If you study her study guides and do the work you will get an A...highly recommend her
hated her. she was a total **** and super rude. im a good student and i have a lot of respect for my professors, but it wasnt mutual with her. i ended up dropping her class just because of her attitude. if you have her DROP IT NOW and find a different teacher.
YOU HAVE TO GO TO CLASS! she has these mini activities everyday and all together they are worth more than your midterm or final. ask her for help on the essays and make sure to start your study guide right when she gives it to you. her lectures are way boring and most people fell asleep but at least go for the activities
She does a good job covering the material and the study guide has what ya need for the test. Have to go to the class cuz of assignments given
Nice professor; 2 exams (midterm and final), 2 quizzes, 2 papers, extra credit built into the course. Basically what's on the study guide is what's going to be on the exams and quizzes. Pretty easy really, I wish I didn't procrastinate so much >.>; I know I could have gotten an A.
Her lectures are boring but must go to class everyday. She gives assignments almost all everyday, but they help your grade a lot! Her exams arent too hard either. They consist of short answers( she basically tells what the short answers will be) and m/c. The m/c I found hard. Overall an ok class. I got a B+
Class was boring. Test were hard.
second week and i already hate it. She goes way too fast, and is way boring.
her marine bio class is really fun and i learned a lot in the semester i had her! she has a lot of experience in the topic and comes from the east coast so its always interesting to hear her comparisons of eastern US marine life to the ones in california. if u really want to learn about marine biology id definitely recommend this class
i hate science. I got a B in her class. I never went to class, just for the assignments. DO GOOD IN THE QUIZZES they are openbook, open, everything. Thats how I passed. Her tests are a bit challenging. I recommend her, if you don't like to go to class.
Very friendly, gives a lot extra credit compared to other teachers. More importantly, she makes BIO understandable for students. She gives out study guides which are of great help on tests. Study those and you'll do fine. Really, great class and great teacher.
Intelligent, friengly, cogent, easy, and funny. I recommend her, unless you're an evangelical creationist, otherwise, you'll feel VERY uncomfortable. But you should probably question your beliefs anyway.
Makes everything very simple and easy to understand. Lectures everyday from a powerpoint that you can print out from blackboard. Some in-class assignments which are pretty easy and help boost your grade. 2 papers which were kind of hard. Need to study for the tests. The class is easily passable. She is very nice and answers all questions you have.
i swear to you, i never went to class for the first month, and when i checked my progress report, i had 108%. no i'm not a science whiz whatsoever, that's just how EASY it is to pass her class. there's weekly ONLINE quizzes that are usually only 5 questions and are multiple choice. pass those every single week, and you're guaranteed a passing grade
She's not hard and she's not easy. She's bearable and fair. The book is useless in this class so don't buy it. I passed with a B.
As others have said, this class was not easy nor was it very hard. Her lectures are very clear, and office hours are helpful. She can develop a bit of an attitude toward the entire class if she finds a few kids she doesn't like. Overall an enjoyable class. I missed a few lectures but still pulled off an A
It would be helpful to have a printer so you could print out all her powerpoints for each chapter then take notes in class on your printouts. Don't miss her weekly online quizzes or the points add up. Going through her study guides for the midterm & final is extremely helpful. She's a great professor in my opinion. I highly recommend her!
Hard class, but she is very knowledgable and helpful. I don't think there was one question, she could not answer. If you attend class, do the weekly quizes, and study for the test, it is easy to get an A. If you are lazy... this probably is not your class.
this class was super boring. i couldn't pay attention. shes a good teacher if you pay attention and go to class everyday and ask questions. she didnt use the book. she has lectures slides but you have to fill in the main points while she lectures. her tests are medium. not easy and not really hard. ask her to look over your study guides.
Great teacher. Gives good lectures. 3 tests and final is mixed of entire course and last section taught. 2 papers (3 pg max). Lots of in-class assignments. Lot of points available in class. Her lectures are very informative and most of the information on the tests are based on the lecture. Could get away without the book.
Was not very good. Didn't teach well at all. It seemed like she would get a little mad when you asked her questions
Taught like an 8th grade teacher, used to be one. Counts quizzes and homework for a lot of points. don't miss class. keep up with reading and tests are easy.
I took the ONLINE class. It's not too hard, but it can get difficult if you tend to procrastinate a lot. Each week, there's usually one assignment, one quiz, and required participation on blackboard (I suggest writing at least 2 decent responses in one of the threads for full credit). She'll respond and give help if you email her or post on BB.
I took the online class, and it is alright. There is a lot of work that needs to be done every week. That being said, this might be easier than taking the actual class. She is very nice, always responds in within a day of e-mailing her, and she is always nice.
Online class was a lot more work than expected. Quiz, assignment, and discussion post due every week. Exam questions are similar to quiz, so keep record of that. She seems nice, but listening to the online lectures is horrible. She thinks she's funny and giggles to herself about weird things and goes into too much detail about nonsense.
Class is okay, Do not need textbook. This class is really difficult to get an A, but easy to get a B. Her tests are really tricky, but she gives extra credit. Take it if you want the usually, powerpoint lecture, key terms tests.
Great teacher. Her lectures are easy to listen to & understand. Class is not mandatory but you miss out on information not in the PP if you don't go. She's easy going & super nice. Tests were a little tricky, but if you ask for help when you get the study guide it helps a lot. Don't forget about the weekly quizzes!!
Easy going class. Everyday she typically does a power point lecture so attendance is not mandatory. However if you want to get a better understanding of the topics i recommend attending class. 2 tests, final, weekly quizzes and a paper make up your grade. Tests questions can be tricky so make sure you know your stuff
Attendance not mandatory since it's such a big class, however I suggest to go to class for powerpoint lectures for a better understanding. I didn't come to class for 2 classes in a row and came back confused. 2 midterms and 1 final(cumulative). Overall, I thought it was a pretty easy class since she provided study guides and test itself wasn't hard
Very helpful professor, took this class online and would recommend it, however it is very important that you don't procrastinate! The test are mediocre and some of the questions do come out of nowhere but if you read and go through her PP slides, you should be fine
She knows her stuff that's for sure. However, if you're not willing to study for a few hours and actually read the book you will NOT pass. She has a paper, weekly quizzes, few in-class assignments and no homework. Tests are NOT easy if you don't study; same with the final. I hate bio and got a D, go figure.
bio 101 online was intense with kris. if you don't have good time management or you procrastinate, i don't recommend this course online. i did all the assignments, quizzes, and test. i passed with a b. don't take this online course with another online course in the same semester. it is a killer!
This class is straightforward, but requires intense studying. I wasn't able to get over a C in any of the exams. And you really need the textbook. I don't recommend it if you don't plan on attending every class and taking precise notes.
Bio 101 online was a very easy 5th class. Take it if you need to get through a GE with little effort. Weekly quizzes and easy assignments, and a short paper. Tests were difficult but passable. I put maybe an hour a week in and got a B. Take this class online!!
Took the class in person. It is a lot of work for a 101 class, but at least professor is helpful during office hours. Overall I would try an alternative.
VERY HELPFUL. TAKE IT
Take this class ONLINE. It is simple (as you can imagine) and make sure to stay on top of the Prep-U quizzes and homework online! They're not worth much points but keep note of the Prep-U quizzes. There are 2 tests and 1 final which is the majority of your grade. She responds to emails quickly and this class was simple overall. I recommend her. :)
So glad I took Bio101 online. It takes getting used to and there are a lot of assignments due for the week but overall it's easy and from someone who sucks at staying on top of online classes, I actually turned in every assignment. Definitely recommend taking Bio101 online if you hate biology. P.S I didn't watch the lecture videos and still passed
Not an easy A but if you do well on the 3 online exams and do all the hw you should have no problem getting an A. She was also very helpful in office hours, and was dedicated to the subject. Also she had online lectures which were helpful. She also gave very good feedback on assignments
No need to get a book, just make sure you check it EVERY week! You have discussion board, assignment and a quizzes due EVERY week. Overall is a pretty easy class, just sometimes the assignments can be quite hideous and long. But I recommend to take BIO 101 online instead of in class!!
She's a great professor, she knows what she's talking about and she speaks very clearly. She really wants to make sure the class understands. VERY helpful during office hours, even tells you some answers if you go before a test. Easy class if you pay attention, if not, good luck.
She knows what she's talking about and she answers questions in a way that we can understand. However, her one essay is graded very hard and some online homework as well. Just do the homework/classwork and VISIT office hours, especially before a test. It helps!!
I'm extremely bad at Biology. So this course saved me. If you want to get a good grade and actual learn something take this class online. You can work at your own pace. Also a book isn't really needed. There are 3 exams including final and an essay, but there all fairly easy since it's an online test.
This class was extremely helpful. Take it!! Online preferably. 3 test and 1 essay which are graded fairly easy. Turn it in homework is somewhat difficult but does not affect the grade as much.
This class was extremely helpful. Take it!! There are 3 test and 1 essay, which are graded fairly easy. The Turn it in homework is somewhat difficult, but does not affect the grade as much.
a lot of work, quizes and reading but it all really helped me understand what was going on. tests are looong so answer them as knowledgeable and as fast as you can. the text book is actually interesting and easy to understand. print out slides before class, saves you from all the writing.. theres a lot of slides
Very helpful professor, but way too many assignments for an online class. Requires "SCORM" packages that are terrible.
This class was definitely not easy. I did feel I learned a lot from this class but apparently I didn't know enough because on almost every assignment she graded I received a C or lower. She grades everything hard. I honestly couldn't believe how difficult and time consuming this course was. Take it if all your other classes are incredibly easy...
The course is extremely tedious and there are so many assignments to do. It also does not help that she is a tough grader. She answers back to e-mails fairly quickly. 2 midterms and 1 paper. The final is a noncumulative midterm covering the last unit. Very easy to fall behind in the class if you cannot manage your time and work ethic.
Just try your best to do all the works and discussion and you should be fine.
She must grade differently for her 101 classes, because her 360 class was not as hard as all these reviews are saying about her 101 classes. A lot of busy work but that's most online classes.
This teacher is not very good. Overall this class was not a good experience. For it being just a 101 class it was much harder than it should have been. So many things were due and the teacher was not helpful. She was not very nice in emails and did not seem to care about how I was doing in class. I advise to not take her.
I absolutely love Kris for this class. This is a class on how to be a good biology teacher, and she instructs us how to do so very well. 2 projects and one teaching presentation. LOTS of HW, which can be tedious at times. 3 exams including the final, none of which are too difficult. Tough grader! Super helpful if you have any questions! Take her!
Teacher is full of complexes, not helpful, hates her job and the students, is rude, loves to degrade students and God forbid if you ask her a question; she will do anything to make you feel like nothin. She is delusional & thinks she is teaching at the Columbia University medical school while she is just teaching bio 101. I taught myself from book.
It was a really hard class and it took a lot of my time. I had to really work hard and test were really tough! Some assignment don't really follow what we are learning so that can be confusing. Although she can be understanding despite all that. Really heard for a GE course.
All assignments are due at 8pm Friday and Sunday, which I hate because all of the past online classes were due at 11:59pm. Assignments due Friday night, discussion & PrepU on Sunday. She's a tough grader even on little assignments. No study guide for exams but according to her the study guides are the learning objectives.
She doesn't have sympathy for you, If you miss class due to an emergency. Isn't clear when she gives you a project what she is looking for. She marks you done for not having a certain word in an assignment. You never get full points for any of the work. We did busy work, which I thought was a waste of time. Overall I don't recommend taking her. :/
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!!!!!! Really bad!!! Her power points only have pictures. No words at all. She talks during the whole lecture. TESTS EXTREMELY HARD!!!!! She makes this class harder than it should be! She also has preference for those students who are getting A's on their exams. I basically self taught myself biology by watching videos.
She is an overall good teacher. The tests are pretty hard though and she gives a lot of homework! Be prepared to read and do work if you do you will pass pretty easily. She doesn't take attendance but there is an in class assignment every class.
She was a decent lecturer. but there was a lot of information covered and you really need to study on your own if you want to pass the class. There were 3 exams and 1 research paper, and many many homework assignments. Personally, I thought it was too hard to be a GE course. Just have to work for your grade. Study the in-class worksheets for tests.
You have to work for your grade!!! Read the textbook because she does not cover everything in class. Her test are tough!! Self taught class because she wont cover everything. Expect to do PrepU!!! 3 Exams, I paper, 12 HW assigments and in class group activities! I found this class very difficult. Too hard for a GE Class!
Have to work for your grade, a lot of prep and online work, attendance is optional but she gives classwork everyday for 10 points. don't go to class you get 0 classwork points and won't pass must read textbooks, lectures aren't detailed enough for the material tested on..
Makes this class much more difficult than it should be. Remember high school when you did a whole bunch of busy work for nothing? Thats her class. She has "in class assignments" EVERY SINGLE DAY. Way too many little assignments to keep track of and they hurt your grade. Her Formula take the grade you think you'll get, now subtract 1 letter grade
This class is ridiculous. The class is based around worksheets you turn in, quizzes and discussions. What she lectures on and teaches you is completely different from the quizzes and assignments. She doesn't go into depth like her quizzes and tests ask you to. I get it's an upper level class, but my gosh. Her tests and quizzes are really difficult
Attendance is mandatory, NO excuses allowed. Im an A student, missed 1 class for boyfriends military deployment send off and she would not let me make up work/ refused to give me papers from class. Lecture heavy. You work for your grade. Many group projects in and out of class. Tests are tough. Condescending to students and would not recommend.
For a G.E class, she makes it much more difficult than it should be. Online discussions, SCORM quizzes, and written assignments are due every Friday. She's a tough grader with the written assignments. The chapters she assigns to read have nothing to do with the assignments or the exams. 3 exams total with a written portion.
Took online. Assignments are clear/straight forward. Keep up with the reading, take good notes and you should be fine. Questions in the eBook help a lot. Take time to participate in discussions and read the paper submission requirements. I overlooked a requirement and didn't submit a log, which was my fault. Grade is based on your effort.
It has been two weeks since class has started and there is WAYYY too many homework assignments to do. There are ridiculous amounts of class work as well. I understand this is an upper division class, but I wonder if all this work is necessary. Every class is a rush to get all these work done and you are just exhausted in the end.
Personally, I don't like biology so I did not want to take it in person. Thankfully, Krista makes bio somewhat easier with her clear assignments and grading scale. This is not an easy A class - you have to work for it. Weekly quizzes/assignments and two papers every month. She responds quickly to emails and will help you if you need the help.
Not a very hands on teacher. In fact, she doesnt teach at all really. Hard at grading and doesnt give feedback as to the reasoning behind her grading. I would say the teacher is more so a professional grader rather than a teacher. If you actually want to learn about biology, choose another professor
I was always ass in math, but for the first time ever I ended up with an A! He makes the class fairly easy, and understandable! He always accommodates for the class such as switching test date and HW deadlines for the convenience of the class. He truly cares and is just amazing! I really wish I could take him for STAT! TAKE HIM!
There are daily assignments in class that are easy to get full credit on (Professor will answer questions about & even check & tell you what you got wrong), as well as online quizzes & homework. Might seem tedious, but they really help your grade. If classes with only a midterm & final scare you, then take this class!
It will seem impossible to get a good grade until you get used to the way the class is. Advice: screenshot hw answers because it will help on the tests & beware of instructions because she will knock a lot points off. Assignments are due Friday. It took me an hour or more to complete a week's work. Not too bad. Pay attention to deadlines.
This was the hardest GE course I have ever taken. Her tests are very hard and you have to try really hard to pass the class. I know many people in the class barely passed, but as stated before it is just a GE course and it should not be this difficult. I would recommend taking a different professor if you have the option.
I personally liked this professor. There are a lot of small assignments due every week, 2 papers, and 4 tests. If you don't pay attention during the lecture or read the book, you won't pass you won't pass the tests since they're concept based. I got away with passing the class and not reading. Attendance matters for participation points also.
She is always willing to help you out when needed but her class is really difficult. It's a GE class and I honestly did not expect it to be as hard as it was but I ended the semester with a B. There is a short one-page essay due every two weeks and a great amount of small test. Screenshot the SCORMS, they come in handy.
She isn't terrible, just a lot of work & can be frustrating. Quizzes are very difficult & the material isn't clear in the textbook/lectures. It will take you 2hrs (at least) if you want a good grade. Papers were ridiculous, marked down to B- cuz I didn't use proper APA format (I put my citations after my sentences) even though all info was correct.
I just had to comment on what I've noticed so far. She makes this GE course harder than what you would expect from a Biology 101 class. The way she grades is very nitpicky. ALWAYS make sure you put in-text citations correctly, or else she will make you lower your grade by a lot. She assigns a lot of homework and the book is not really helpful.
I personally loved her. Universities need real professors like her. Papers are usually about interesting topics. She gave hw that covered harder concepts and memorization stuff is on you. 3 tests but theres a study guide. Bio is universal so everything is on google & youtube. Take the time to teach yourself, youll realize how exciting science is.
The organization of this class was super clear and helpful. Had to read chapters and watch videos each week, and take quizzes and do writing assignments every two weeks. You have to do the work to pass-- reading many, many chapters/pages per week. Don't take this class if you don't like taking thorough notes.
I was in the web hybrid class, so I had online work as well as an in-person lecture once a week. The lecture wasn't mandatory, but it definitely helped with the week's material. Prof. Henderson was EXTREMELY helpful in anything you needed help with. The notes were a bit lengthy, but they made a difference in my performance. Very good explanations
Her lecturing skills are very poor. Even going to class and listening to her lectures you won't learn much. From my perspective she seems very inexperienced. I have one of the highest grades in the class and its not even decent. Most people in the class are currently failing and have decided to give up. Considering its a GE course thats pretty bad.
Professor expected you to basically have your master's degree in biology to get a good grade. Must show up to class, even though she just has you do busy work. Wayyyy too difficult for a 101 class
Probably the worst professor I've ever had. Her quizzes were really hard and she doesn't give enough time to complete them with how wordy she gets in the questions and there's questions within a question sometimes. Also, if you think you did well on the writing assignments, think again! She's super nitpicky. Way too hard for a GE class.
This class feels like I'm supposed to prioritize it over everything. There's no exams, but quizzes every 2 weeks w/ a lot of questions and little time, group project, online homework, and papers. Very demanding class with very long/extensive notes and (sometimes) broad lectures. prof is nice & does respond to emails promptly, but the class is alot
Took the hybrid course: There's the online usual stuff, and then all of the in class work is group work. She's extremely organized and her Titanium page is so neat, it makes it easy to follow the content in the class. At times, it felt like a lot of work for a 101 class. For example, there's a pre-class quiz and a post-class quiz every week
Do not take this class if you don't know how to take thorough notes. You have to read the book and write notes follow by Krista's notes. She's really picky. She even looks for grammar use. If your grammar is not good then I don't recommend you to take her online class. Just take it in person.
I took her online course. Personally, I have never seen her face or lectures. She provides a free online textbook for everyone and we have weekly assignments and discussions on the forums. One writing assignment every 2 weeks. All deadlines are on Fridays. Best class if you don't like to attend class. Just read the textbook and meet deadlines.
I took her for online bio and she was as good as a professor can be for online. She has lecture outlines for you to fill out using the course online modules which I enjoyed! The material is presented clearly and the class is very manageable! A decent amount of homework only because its online but nothing crazy.
I took this class for G.E. requirement and there is absolutely no reason for a G.E class to be this demanding. There's loads of coursework each week and if you can't keep up, your grade will slip fast. Assignments, quizzes, notetaking, and writing assignments. I really don't see why such an irrelevant class needs this much courework.
I took her class as a hybrid in Fall 2019 and it was so time-consuming. There was a lot of textbook reading and mini assignments every week. I really had to work so hard to earn a good grade in this class. We only had to write 2 papers and her lectures weren't too detailed. Studying off her note/study guide format helped a bit.
This class is ridiculously overwhelming with all the assignments one is supposed to complete within one week. Expect note-taking from the textbook, weekly scorm quizzes, a quiz each week, and writing assignments. This class does require a lot of time to complete the work in a week, not including your other class's homework.
(Online) Teacher is prompt with emails, answers any questions you have, and is understanding. But does not teach AT ALL. Everything is self taught. All material is off the internet. No lecturing whatsoever. Way too much work for a GE. All of my time is taken up by this class. Exams are challenging and have very low time limits.
This class takes so much out of you. She's super organized but the work load was probably more than my other 5 classes combined. She's a really tough grader when it comes to the essays and the wiki group assignment. It's just too much work for a GE class. Also, quizzes are super hard and have nothing to do with the notes she makes you take.
You need to read like a chapter a week on the topic u gonna be quizzed on. Scorms(like quizzes) can be easy or hard but u have unlimited time, you have 2 tries for it so make sure u right down your answer of what u got right to use on ur 2nd try. Ch. Quizzes are timed but copy & search will be ur bff. 4, 1-2 page writings. NO FINAL or MIDTERM!
Prof Henderson's class had A LOT of assignments to do outside of class. She expects that you spend a lot of time for this class. Unfortunately, there were many times where I half assed her assignments, since I simply did not have enough time to do them. With that being said, her Titanium page really organized, so you know what's due.
Her Titanium page is really organized but she doesn't seem to care at all. Has 1 pg papers + discussion every 2 weeks, tests (quizzes), quizzes (SCORMS). Grades harshly on papers. Look at criteria! Email her your draft before submitting and she'll fix up errors. If you don't excel in bio, don't take her. I had a D. Managed to get a B- somehow!
Very organized asynchronous class. Every module goes for 2 weeks, there are notes every week with knowledge checks. Every other week you post to discussion + 1pg writing assignment and quiz. Notes can be long sometimes, but if you stay on top of your work the class isnt too bad. Even with notes quizzes can be tricky sometimes but no tests!
Her online asynchronous page on canvas organized with 2 weeks for each quiz and a week to do assignments/papers. That being said she grades very tough and her criteria are not the clearest. I suggest if you are not good at biology AVOID her class to save yourself the stress.
Very unfair grading structure. You have to get 100%, all or nothing, on the majority of her assignments, which takes away the learning aspect and puts so much pressure on you to get nothing wrong. On the knowledge checks, she doesn't even give you the correct answer when finished with your two attempts, making learning impossible. AVOID!
She is very organized so you know what is due, but she is a tough grader and gives alot of work. Note taking takes awhile, and quizzes and knowledge checks are very difficult. All or nothing checks. No tests, but be ready for the work load given. Avoid if you can.
This is without a doubt the worst college course I have taken so far. Her expectations for her students are way too high and she is an extremely tough grader. There are hours of content to review each week and her tests are extremely difficult to pass. The only good thing I have to say about this professor is that she is very organized.
I took her asynchronous class . There were no tests but her quizzes were pretty challenging. The rest of the class content was okay. There weren't any lecture videos from the professor which was disappointing. Instead you have to read the textbook unless you still remember everything from high school biology.
This class was non-synchronous so all of the materials were self-taught. She gives too much homework and she grades pretty toughly. No midterm or final, but quizzes every week. There are papers every few weeks as well as notes you have to take on your own time.
Literally the worst!!! Gives out so much homework and grades very harshly! Shes very very picky worse than any English teacher when it comes to grading and tests are all or nothing.I turned in all my assignments on time had a fair understanding of everything and failed the class. Seriously dont take her this is your sign !!!
I do not recommend this class for a GE. It is not worth it and a waste of your time. She is not accommodating at all due to covid and it being online. She gives a lot of work, WEEKLY and grades harshly for no reason. Weekly quizzes, writing assignments, and exams every couple weeks.
Her class is difficult for a GE course. You have weekly quizzes that are worth a ton of points. There is no lecture, and everything is either on your own or some youtube video. You also have 7 papers, and she grades those extremely harshly and will take away points for grammar or citing incorrectly. Please take something else.
This class was so much work for a GE class and took up most of my free time. The prof grades very harshly and the content on writing assignments and quizzes are very complicated and sometimes unrelated to the lessons/study guide. Instead of exams you do quizzes every other week. The prof responds fast, but not worth the stress. DON' TAKE THIS CLASS
1 discussion post, 2 Homeworks, 3 quizzes, 1 writing assmt each week. No final, free textbook, lot of readings. One of the best organized asynchronized online class. Respond to emails on time. Too much content for a summer class but very easy stuff from high school: cells, biosphere, etc.
Reading your assigned text doesn't help. Knowledge assessments are not effective and confusing. Quizzes are somewhat not straight to the point of the question.
This professor's online course for Human Sexuality is extremely difficult. As someone who gets good grades, this teacher almost makes it impossible to get an A. The knowledge checks are extremely difficult and the scores are averaged, which makes it impossible to do well on them. Quizzes are hard. LOTS of group work. I would not recommend her.
This teacher is terrible. Do not take her class. She requires you to write essays, but limits you to one page, while requiring you to be double spaced. She then docks points for not explaining things while requiring you to cover many topics. Besides that she assigns a lot of reading and in all is just a huge waste time. DO NOT TAKE.
This professor made a 101 course a lot harder than it should be. I spend at LEAST 6-8 hours each week on this course, even though it wasn't a requirement for my major. I LOVED biology, but I felt like this professor tainted the course.
This is by far one of the worst classes I have taken. I spend roughly 7 hrs per week on the material and still struggle on the quizzes. She gives weekly quizzes and most questions are all or nothing. She assigns three papers but limits it to one page double spaced but complains it wasn't detailed enough and marks down for small grammar mistakes.
Her video lectures were short and did not help me understand the contents of the materials. Had to read everything. Basically taught myself the class.
She is a tough grader especially when it comes to group projects. Although she does provide a study guide for each module for the quizzes, the study guides take hours to complete. She is not very clear about group projects which is why I think people get low scores.
Here's the entire class in a nutshell: Quiz, Knowledge Check, Group Discussion, all due on a Friday at 9 p.m. It's like this for every single week, sometimes there's also group assignments. The assigned textbook will NOT help you with anything. As a Computer Science major, the workload in this class is unnecessarily long and difficult. Do not take.
I hated this class. I cried multiple times because the workload was so heavy and a lot of the times the knowledge checks we had everyweek were way to hard. U basically need to take the most detailed notes in the world to even pass with an A. For the tests there was 3 parts and almost everyone failed the second part. What does that say abt the prof?
If there's any other Professor to take do it, I wouldn't recommend this class, nor would I take it if I knew how much work there would be. Assignments are due every week on Friday @9 she has these knowledge checks which are very annoying, lot of group work and quizzes of course. You have to read a lot to get the answers right. Just Don't. Stressful
Not recommended to take because assignments were more focused on textbook that what the professor knew. There were knowledge checks with 2 attempts but she only gave you the average, quizzes had little time, group assignments, and a group project. Keep in mind that she had long study guides that didn't help much for the quizzes.
She requires us to do a lot of reading every week. We had a note-taking guide, and mine would sometimes be up to 20 pages long. We had about 4 discussion posts, weekly knowledge checks, and 7 quizzes. There was no midterm or final. The class was very content-heavy and her quizzes and knowledge checks were hard. There is also a group project.
I am not even half way through the class, but I can say with confidence that she is the worst professor you can take for this class. For a 101 course she expects too much for what the class is. Next, you can do everything right for an assignment, but she'll nitpick one minor error and will punish your grade for it. This is not worth it.
This was the worst class I've ever taken. The workload was too much (6 assignments due on one day) and the guided notes don't match entirely what's on the quizzes and exams. She makes you work in a group despite the class being asynchronous which is a waste of time. The way she grades makes it seem like she doesn't want her students to pass.
Lots of group assignments despite the course being asynchronous, unclear guidelines and instructions that she utilizes against the students in order to mark off points, and an extremely unprofessional and passive aggressive text tone when conversing with students when they come to her for help. Her courses aren't worth the migraine they give you.
Professor Henderson's class is content-heavy and challenging. Assignments like weekly knowledge checks, quizzes, and a group project require significant time and effort. While the textbook is used, the assessments don't always align well. unstuck study proved helpful for efficient study prep.
DO NOT TAKE HER!! She is not understanding for GE credit not worth it. For a online class she has you do a lot of group projects. Grades really hard and isnt understanding at all.
The amount of work she gives for an online GE is insane. Her quizzes are hard. I am a good student, and I study, yet I still find myself having trouble. This is one of the reasons I don't like biology because of it being affiliated with tough teachers who give everything online with no lecture videos. My major courses aren't even this tough!
Incredibly difficult. Why do I get my writing assignment back 2 months after the due date? She is not worth taking.
SUPER easy UD GE compared to how I thought it would be (COMM major here). About 2 weekly quizzes and a semester long grp prjct which wasn't bad at all. For a bio class, it was very easy to complete. Also, the textbook is well written and easy to follow, plus there are short lecture videos that cover most of what you need to know. Highly recommend.
I don't understand all the negative reviews here; Professor Henderson was great. Her course was very organized, and despite some activities being time consuming, none of the work was actually difficult. She doesn't require any books or course materials, which is an added bonus.
