She is a tad bit quirky. Has a very strict & unrealistic grading criteria for writing assignments. More finicky than any english professor when it comes to writing. Can come off as unwelcoming by her tone of writing. BE THERE ON TIME! She begins to call roll at the exact start time of class. Easy class, tough professor.
Although her quizzes and tests are easy, her written assignments are extraordinary hard! She's not very specific on what she wants on her writing assignments. She expects a lot from you, therefore makes her a tough grader. I suggest you not to take this class if you're a poor or decent writer.
Quizzes and tests are easy if you study. Lectures are just PowerPoints from the reading. The papers are difficult. Instructions are kinda vague but must be followed EXACTLY. Otherwise you'll get a zero for not following one little thing. The only extra credit in the class is another paper. Be on time, role is taken right when class starts.
Unrealistic expectations, never take same professor again
Don't take if you value your grade
Gives no grace on attendance what so ever.
Her class is relatively easy to pass as long as you pay attention. Most of her exam questions and quizzes come directly from her ppts and online quizzes. However, she is very much like a high school teacher instead of a college professor in the way that she treats grading and the system overall as if its way more serious than what it really is
Tough grader, participation matters, and if you send an email you will fail!!!
If you you show up one minute late you will get a 0% as a in class quiz grade.1
Depends way too heavily on attendance.
Dr. Foust is purely a lecturer. If you miss class, you won't do well in the take home quizzes and test. Each week varies on when she post her take home quizzes that you can take up to five times. So make sure you keep checking your blackboard so you are on time submitting the quiz. If you have a weekend job,it will be difficult to complete the THQs
Attendance is required but if you just pay attention, you will pass. Theres not much work to do, only 1 quiz every week due on Sunday. Shes straight to the point & doesnt talk about anything other than the material which helps if youre easily distracted. You will need to study for tests, but theyre like quizzes. Taking her again this semester
Shes horrible , talks about boring lectures majority of the time , quizzes between lectures , doesnt go over test or answers that the class had trouble on , pretty annoying grading criteria , just overall a difficult way to learn from her . Very boring
Took her for U.S. History 1301 and I mistakenly took her again for 1302. To list off, she is: strict on e-mails (points off participation if you email her), doesn't put the notes on Blackboard, VERY confusing with her questions for quizzes, and very big on "social responsibility." If you can, avoid her. I made an account JUST to post this smh
She is a wonderful teacher. She will tell you in class, on the syllabus, and on the blackboard announcement what she expects and what you need to do.
Easy A class
She is an amazing professor and gives extra credit opportunities.
I enjoyed Kristan Foust as my online history teacher she had helpful lectures she posted online and as long as you did the reading and took your time to do all the work the class went on smoothly
I took the class online over the summer and it wasn't too hard you just need to make time to read and work on the homework as much as you can because it's a lot of reading and the homework takes a while to finish. The teacher is really nice and understanding and I would definitely recommend taking her class :)
I want to begin by saying her lectures are well organized and covers lots of good content. So why'd I give her a low review? Her grading policy on the essays... It is very subjective, contradictory and STRICTLY enforced... Any policy violation results in a 1%. If you use a personal pronoun, contraction, citation error, it results in an immediate 1%
I'm a history major and have never failed a history class but I'm a couple weeks from finals and have a 38. Every essay and discussion board I have gotten a 1 on even though she gave me 90s on the rubric. She over rides my As on writing assignments because it doesn't meet her strict criteria. I cry almost daily.
I love history & have never failed a history class before, but this time I am. All my other classes have straightforward, simple discussion boards, but hers are almost ridiculously complicated. They're honestly more like full-length essays over multiple long readings/videos than discussion posts-- I'd rather just write more essays in that case.
She is super strict with unrealistic expectation's on discussion questions. Take her class if you love typing essays
Its been pretty challenging doing online classes during Covid. Cant really blame her for assigning nothing but papers
Prof Foust gives a TON of work but that is to be expected. If you are not a huge fan of history you will not enjoy this class. She is always willing to communicate with her students.
She's very inconsiderate with her grading and with her work. Her discussion questions are just too much and she is WAY too strict with her grading. I would not recommend her to anyone. Do not take her class.
So much work assigned.
Dr, Foust has very high and unrealistic expectation. She is also very reluctant on chances.
She was a great teacher, the class is difficult though.
Dr. Foust Grades very heavily on the Discussion posts and assigns a lot of work, however if you email her and talk with her she's very understanding. She provides extra credit if you are failing and/or just want a higher grade. All in all if you manage your time well in her class then things shouldn't be to hard just spend 1-2 hours a day on work
Very reasonable, just get in your work on time and communicate with Dr. Foust to be able to pass the class.
Be prepared to read cause that's what you're gonna do a lot. Also, expect little help and tough grading. Mess up your discussion questions? I guess you're failing now. Lots of work and get ready to spend the next week finishing all those questions.
This class may be a bit difficult, but Dr. Foust reinforces the fundamentals that are important for college. The strict grading made me work even harder and she always lets resubmissions as long as they're within the realm of reason. She also always allows extra credit.
Lots of homework (AKA Discussion questions)
Dr. Foust was a great professor. Although her work is very time-consuming, it's very easy and just takes a lot of reading. Besides, it's a college class so what do you expect. You learn a lot especially about how the past directly connects to present-day issues.
Professor Foust was great this semester gives great feedback on assignments but does have a specific way you should do essays and responding to classmates. But its nothing crazy hard shes gives great feedback like I said & always reliable when you send her a email and need extra help. she is very passionate about world civilization which is great
The only issue is that the discussion questions can draining, but she gives enough time to complete them over the week. She includes movies, documentaries, or youtube videos for the lesson other than just reading the textbook. Also asks a lot of "What is your personal/social responsibility" questions.
The amount of work required for this class is unexpected, and only a decent amount of time is given for it to be finished. You need to keep track of your time and not procrastinate on your assignments. Otherwise, you may end up turning your work in late and getting a 0.
You have a lot of time to do the work but it starts stacking and requires multiple days to complete.
I took Dr. Foust over the Fall semester and it was good. I did enjoy her class except for the discussion boards. Just submit your work on time and you will be fine. She gives you time to work on your discussion boards and also takes attendance based off the work when its supposed to be turned in. Overall this class was good.
Having Dr. Foust as an online teacher due to the COVID situations, her class is well-organized and I would definitely get another class with this instructor. Yes, there is a good amount of reading, however, the amount of time given to us to complete these assignments is more than enough. Extra credit is offered, and she will help you, communicate
Very unique learning style and can be difficult at times.
Professor Foust assigns a bit of work, but as long as you have decent time management skills, it's not too bad. She's encouraging and helpful. Anytime you have a question, she answers it in no time.
The discussion posts are quite long and intense but you have a few weeks to do it. Don't do it last minute, it's not worth it. The professor is very nice though and understanding. And make sure to do the extra credit! I had an 88 for the class but with the extra credit I have a 100. The extra credit is the most important, it will help so much.
Great professor! It was a reading-based class so there was a lot of material to cover which means to plan ahead otherwise you will not do well
I took this class during the winter session. Dr. Foust graded really fast and fair. The weekly discussion posts were long, but there were no tests. As long as you try on your work and turn it in on time you will have no problem getting a good grade in this class.
Dr. Foust is an overall good professor, however, she tends to give work overload. If you have a busy schedule, I advise you to not take her course, but if you're a diligent worker, you will do fine.
She does give a lot of busy work and grades fairly hard, however she wants all of her students to succeed and she does her best to help you. Don't be afraid to fight for your grade.
Gives thorough instructions so I believe taking Dr. Foust's classes shouldn't be too much of a struggle. Just don't be lazy.
Mrs foust is an amazing person and is very responsive to the emails you send. The reading are fairly long and are required for the extremely long discussion boards. working on a question a day helps because her due dates are reasonable. grades extremely hard on grammar and sentence structure, and her criteria is narrow for discussion boards.
Professor Foust does not know how to lecture, when she does, it is very rushed and all over the place. We are not learning much about TX History, we talk more about social issues the whole time. No tests so your grade is heavily dependent on attendance and some bs paper about making a change in your community. I just want to learn about the Alamo
Dr. Faust is a great teacher! I like how she goes into detail and always finds a way to compare todays issues to the pst and make us realize some problems havent gone away. This is the first time Ive had a teacher that talks and exposes many issues and as a class we address the issue.
I like Dr. Foust, sometimes I feel like the Canvas assignments are abrupt and due very soon after they are given. However, she is very flexible. It does require a decent amount of time to really do assignments. The class is fine, but it just doesn't work well with my work load right now.
She gives good feedback on stuff you submit but takes a couple days for her to respond. There is a lot group work where groups research a topic and teach it to you which can be good or bad depending on the quality of work. She does mostly essay question which I do not like. The thing I dont like the most was the Just Do it Project.
Dr. Foust blew my expectations away for college professors. She does lecture but not excessively and her work load is switched up so theres a sense of getting to do something new everyday. Pop quizzes were rare and she is very engaging with the class. Fantastic professor
Professor Foust is an amazing teacher. She makes learning fun through different creative projects, and interesting class discussions.
She was a great lecturer but this is my first college class so I dont have anyone to compare to.
I really enjoyed Dr. Foust this semester. I was able to actually absorb information compared to my high school classes where I only retained it to the take a test. Dr. Foust was able to create an environment that encouraged mistakes, encouraged group learning, gave plenty of opportunity to excel, and gave more than enough room to share opinions.
If you asked Dr. Foust a question, she would often answer it and then go into further detail which I found very fun to learn. It wasn't the easiest to reach her when we needed but the work given is not to complex, just takes time to complete. What I did find strange though was having to write a research paper that got political intentionally.
Dr. Foust is an amazing Professor for this course. The work she gives out is not too hard or easy. Its average but very tedious. She does very detailed lectures.
Dr. Foust is really cool
cool teacher
Dr. Foust's class consist of lectures with activites that helped me learn. Making posters/graphics as well as group projects aided and appealed to each learning style. However, there are are quite a few essay questions that can be time consuming.
Overall not a bad class. I will say though that it is very easy to fall behind and your grade will reflect that.
She is really good at engaging with our class and teaching new topics. When you take notes, you kind of have to go fast at them because she talks fast. Also she is really helpful outside of class with whatever questions you have and since our class had discussions we learn something new. Overall she's such a great teacher that helps you grow.
Dr. Foust is really forgiving when it comes to grading. There are times when students would submit an assignment and initially get a failing grade, but she allows you to resubmit most assignments for a better grade. Her classroom environment is laid back and she doesn't give many tests but rather students get group assignments and engaging lectures
Dr. Foust is a pretty easy class as long as you're caught up with work. I'd participate if you could if there are class discussions, due to the lack of class work and lecture heavy classes. It's a lot of group work and self-study, which is different from last year, since she stated that she's trying out newer teaching methods after COVID.
Dr. Foust is not a test giver and values more in-class participation and class discussion. She is a professor that wants you to know the content that she is teaching and will clarify any questions you may have. She is a really easy grader and her assignments are not difficult to the point where you may struggle on them.
She is very nice and cool, but the topic is history so the class is boring. The work is very easy however, they can be time consuming. The whole semester we did not have any major test, but a couple quizes. Also, the whole class is based on a project where you find a problem that you want to fix and take action. Which makes the class more intrestin
I enjoyed her class. There's some homework then and there but it's not as hard. Her lectures are great and easy to understand, not as boring. I did the in person class so participation was needed and you had to be there. She's very lenient and understanding. The most hardest was the just do it paper because it has a lot of parts in it.
Professor Foust is very nice. She doesn't assign that much work, but the work is very time consuming. She also often does lectures and group projects and tries to focus more on having the students learn rather than trying to shoving everything down their throats and then testing them on stuff they don't remember.
Dr. Foust is a good professor. She provides few homework and focuses on educating through lecture. Though her work is extremely time consuming, but can be done in a day. She's also strict about messaging outside of class, which makes asking questions intimidating.
She's funny but the lectures are boring.
Dr. Foust is very understanding. She doesn't give alot of work but when she does it can take some time. We often did group projects which was a great way to learn the material.
Dr. Foust is a very understanding and kind professor. She didn't grade too hard and was very flexible about due dates and such. Her assignments were straightforward and focused greatly on the content, so I learned a lot. I would definitely want to have Dr. Foust as my professor again!
Dr. Foust is a great teacher that teaches the course in a respectful manner. The conversation is influential and gives plenty of feedback to help the student express their essay and knowledge. However, procrastination is very common so when students are struggling to manage their time, Dr. Foust would provide less work to catch on to the lectures!
Mainly teaches by talking and engages in in-class discussion.
Dr. Foust values the opinions of her students and is very fair. She gives 1-2 large assignments per week, but each can be done in a day when working efficiently. She often lectures with slideshows, meaning that you depend on your own learning by listening and taking notes. She also posts a lot of sources on canvas to study and learn more.
Takes a long time to grade.
Mainly teaches by talking and engages in in-class discussion. Her lectures can be long with talking but does deliver the information properly.
lectures are long and boring. i like receiving group work rather than individual work.
Dr. Foust is overall a great professor, and it's easy to retain information. I like that our grade was not depended upon test and quizzes. The workload wasn't that bad, but you shouldn't procrastinate because then it'll be bad. Also there isn't that much textbook work, so that was a pleasure too.
Dr. Foust in all honesty is a good professor. Although sometimes her lectures can be boring, she does make them interesting at times. Just an fyi you should NOT procrastinate because you will fall behind and will stress out. Talking from experience.
Dr. Foust is a professor who clearly has a great love for teaching and passing correct information to her students. When she notices a lot of students struggling to catch up with work, she pushes back the deadline. I personally do not like lectures as it takes too long but I love when we have in-class discussions. Great at connecting with us!!!!
Dr. Foust is a professor that might seem scary at first but she is extremely understanding and great at teaching once you get to know her more. She makes class discussions truly intriguing and engaging. Not only does she know how to teach, but she also is one who believes her students can change the world.
Dr. Foust is a great professor. It's rare for teachers to be so passionate about their subject. Dr. Foust is the type of professor who focuses on learning, not on tests. I have not taken one test in her class, and the assignments she assigns are simple yet effective in your learning. However, be prepared to listen to lectures and change the world.
I love teachers like Dr. Foust. The way she lectures actually makes the information stick to my brain in a way I can remember. She is tough on grading and deadlines, but that's normal. She will answer any questions you have and explain until you understand.
Dr. Foust is a great professor especially for your first college class. Almost every topic we learn about, we relate it directly to our modern time society and in our personal lives. I walked into this class thinking it will just be another normal U.S. History class and walked away from this semester with beliefs I never had before.
In this class you basically teach yourself by reading alot of work and answering questions. I you enjoy teaches meeting and doing chats and such than that is different but I personally did no like.
TCC switched out my professor at the last second which made me ultimately annoyed, she gave out what felt like busy work and a lot of videos which a lot of students don't learn from that way and a lot of discussion boards. I ultimately did not learn from her class.
Dr. Foust is an amazing and caring teacher! She makes sure you are not feeling overwhelmed. All her lectures are connected to todays world. There is a lot of mini assignments, but they do not take long to complete.
The class was a great experience. Though we had a lot of assignments, especially writing assignments, online and in-class discussions, they helped to reinforce what we learned in class. We were also introduced to new technologies. We created a timeline, flyer, google teams quiz. And for our final project, we created a 2-3minute video.
I took this class apart of the dual credit program and at the beginning I was not sure how I felt but toward the end I see that dr foust really just wants her student to succeed and have successful futures.
Dr.Foust is a great professor! She is very passionate and knowledgeable about history and it is seen in her lectures. Her assignments fall in the categories of discussions, online lectures, and occasional Canva design projects. In addition, there will also be a service-learning project. The class is easy and you should definitely take her!
There is alot of group work but there wasnt any tests nor exams.
The lectures were boring and long, but that is expected from a college professor. With that being said, you can tell Dr. Foust enjoys teaching and she really does care about her students. If she sees that the class is struggling, she'll give us the opportunity to redo the assignment or drop it altogether. She is a tough grader, but she's awesome!
She's an amazing professor who just wants us to succeed and be more involved in our politics.
Dr. Foust is an amazing professor who takes feed back from her students to teach how we learn best.
She is a caring Professor and wants her students to succeed.
I did the bare minimum but aye cool teacher
This professor is vary good. They work with you to make sure your understanding the topics, will extend due dates to work with students ,and change what types of assignments they give to make sure her students are learning the topics the best way they can.
Guys she is literally amazing and throughout the whole semester all we did was do PowerPoints.
This class was extremely taxing on my mental health. The amount of essay questions she wanted answer in the 8 week period was extreme. I was doing schoolwork for this class alone 7 days a week. She took forever to grade things and always came back wanting edits. I am honestly shocked I got an A and it came at the expense of my sanity.
She's nice, but unless you like to write I would not take her class. Your grade is going to come from her essay questions. They are LONG, REPETITIVE, and TEDIOUS questions. You get 3 sets questions throughout her course and EACH essay answering all questions will be at least 5 pages long. Takes weeks to grade them, and always needs revisions.
Requires very tedious work in order to finish essay questions. Unless you are ready to put in hourssss for one assignment, I highly recommend picking someone else. Takes forever to grade your essay questions. Also seems to have opinions, if you put your own opinion, and she disagrees, she will count off.
She is a tough grader, LOTS AND LOTS of writing, 90% of the studies was over slavery, does not give good feedback, does not respond in a timely manner.
Do not take this class unless you're prepared to write a lot. There are very lengthy and tedious essay questions throughout the year, 3 different assignments and a total of 38 questions to be exact. She almost always requires revisions so just prepare yourself. I did learn what I was supposed to however.
Dr. Foust is a great professor. I will admit though that she is a very tough grader and her coursework can be very difficult at times. She provides good sources that will help you though and she is also very understanding. Her class is really easy to pass if you put the time and effort into it.
Dr. Foust's teaching style is giving lectures with presentations. Dr. Foust also does cumulative tests.
She is a very understanding as long as you just communicate things to her. The historical sites projects in this class was the most interesting project I've ever done. However, do not procrastinate on essay questions!!
This professor is great at keeping you active in class and at home. If you like to learn through writing and discussion, then I would like to recommend this Dr. First for you.
She does lots of lectures, making sure you are prepared, she was able to give us lecture about the American Revolution and teaching us the missing information that we needed and prepared us for a test.
Overall, Dr. Foust is a very good and understanding teacher! You can communicate problems to her, and she'll understand. Her teaching is based on the student's level of understanding. There are a lot of essay questions, but it helps you retain information. The lectures are long, but not as long as she had them in the past so it's bearable.
There are various assignments we received that helped me learn in different ways. Some were easy and some were difficult, but overall the way the professor taught was effective.
Do not procrastinate,
Do not leave assignments to the last minute and pay attention to lectures in class.
I learned so much from this class, I have not left a class before feeling more educated or good about what I have learned. Dr. Foust is an incredible professor, and I was very lucky to have had her class.
The lectures in this class gave me good insight and I understood a lot of information. The class had a positive environment and the workload was manageable. Overall, this class was great and I learned a lot.
I personally enjoyed the in-class lectures and how Dr. Foust was able to bring out the contents of the slides in one to two sentences. I also loved the positive and lively class environment which enabled me to connect more with my peers and helped me to grow positively as a person this semester.
Foust believes it is more important to remember the topic rather than directly testing it. Foust gives back great feedback to improve future papers and assignments. Pretty effective and simple assignments can take some work but help remember the topic.
Dr. Foust is a very easy professor to follow throughout lectures and for me personally, I found the work to be easy.
This class really assesses critical thinking skills!
She is a caring professor but still grades fair. Listens to students and is really focused on learning.
She was pretty good and helpful. She helps you understand the information too.
Make sure all assignments are completed accurately, Dr. Foust's grading is very thorough. Her classes are lecture-heavy but fun sometimes.
She will make sure you actually learn all the info in the lesson.
She clearly presents the information you need to learn and makes it easy to understand and remember. She's a good grader and gives good feedback that helps.
shes nice
This professor lectures a lot, with no hands-on learning and lots of writing!! So I found it difficult to learn anything!
Dr. Foust gives great lectures almost daily. They are interesting and easy to get engaged to. It makes listening easy.
She has good abilities to teach material
Dr. Foust teaching is very amazing, allowing you to take note of and remember what she teaches in her lectures. Her activities, projects, and assignments that she gives us help to learn more in depth about a subject and learn new things.
Dr. Foust is a really good professor, she had only your best interests in mind.
The lectures are long but very helpful as she focuses on key points. She chooses great videos that are helpful to what we learn.
I absolutely adored Prof. Foust. She curated an above and beyond lesson plan that made history accessible for me. That includes videos, textbook reading, and writing assignments. Also, her tests are comprised of what you know, and not what they think you should know. The final is like this as well. I ended up leaving the class with a 102
Dr. Foust was great this semester. From the beginning she let our class know that she didn't care if we passed or failed, her main goal was to be sure that we learned. That made the class much easier because her expectations were clear. Her assignments weren't too hard because they had clear criteria. overall, the class was great and insightful.
I took the 8 week online version and do not recommend. She puts your papers through a plagiarism checker, if it comes back positive you get one chance to make it up. After the second time your fail her class. This seems fair except it happened to me twice and I never plagiarized. I even put my papers through a checker and it came back negative.
It's pretty hard to get a high grade in her class if you don't overachieve. She grades very harshly and I would get papers back with so many marks. She picks favorites for some grades for the bell curve. For one of her projects, she wants most of her students to go out and volunteer. I had to email government officials MANY times for a grade.
While this was a summer course there were four papers and each one being well over 2500 words. All quizzes were embedded in videos that may be up to 2 hours long. Besides the beginning syllabus stuff those are the only grades you receive.
She assigned work that had nothing to do with US History. We are students not social activists. She made us email government officials to get a good grade. Long lectures every class and the discussion post took numerous hours. Ignores you if you say Mrs cause shes a "doctor". Good luck with the class
This is the worst professor I have ever had.
She doesn't do tests, so you don't have to worry about that. You'll do 2 ISLO Essay's for a mid term and final and it's a very easy class. Would highly recommend taking her for history!
just do the work and you should pass
She was a pretty good professor, albeit some of the papers we had to do felt long and tedious. I learned a decent amount, and felt the need to try and change the way our society views things. But, I still feel we could've done more engaging activities.
Very easy on everyone when it comes to classwork load also barley any testing is needed.
She will get you active about learning history and make you enthusiastic about learning.
I want you to know that Dr. Foust is VERY understanding and caring and will collaborate with you concerning your personal situations. You could ask for a better professor, because she knows how to mix fun with learning, and always values poitivity.
A very good class with a teacher that can very clearly convey the material
Dr. Foust is amazing. Her class is very lecture-heavy. She has said many times throughout the class that she does not care if we pass or fail, all she cares about is if we learn the material she is teaching. She is very fun and exciting. Her class can be fun but it can also be serious. The assignments she gives all come from the material she gives.
That Professor Foust is very laid back and a clam teacher who is fun to listen to
She's a cool professor, nice and has a lot of energy. She does not give tests if you like that, personally I didn't. There's a lot of lecture but not too much homework
Lecture heavy. Assignments are critical since there are no tests. ISLO essay questions twice a term. Overall, very good, one of my least stressful classes this semester lol
I think Mrs.Foust is a great teacher and I would love to take and class that she teaches.
If you just show up and put half your effort towards the class, you'd have no problem passing the class.
Foust is a very caring professor. She is definitely open to hearing you out if you are struggling in the class or to meet deadlines, and she's flexible. She does not assign many tests; She mostly assigned group work, lectures, and video assignments with follow up questions.
Nice teacher
Super nice teacher and very understanding. I learned lots of new information and really enjoyed the class.
She's great :) just make sure to come to class and do the (minimal) homework on time.
Dr. Foust is a very reasonable professor. Her teaching style allowed me to retain the important information I needed, She has great informal lectures that should not bore you too much.
Amazing Teacher. Would take again.
Foust is an amazing professor. She is easy with the work she assigns us. The lectures are amazing. She doesn't give out tests. I enjoyed having her as my professor. (:
Very nice and easy
Take this class everybody. You won't regret it.
She's really cool and is actually really honest about history she will say the cold honest truth about the people we look up to in History. She doesn't test so that was a huge relief for the semester and just look out for the ISLO essay questions #I'maISLOEssayQuestionHater
really good, and understanding!
She gives alot of online quizzes, no tests, but alot of essays that she grades extremely tough. Be prepared to do the extra credit.
Unless you are ok with quizzes and essays DO NOT TAKE.
She gives a lot of quizzes. Like multiple every week. They are video quizzes so be prepared to take notes. Her essays are very time consuming.
Much more fun than other professors and likes to get straight to the point which is also a plus
Encouraged learning in the classroom. No tests as well.
Western Civ. A lot of lecture content both in class and online. Not a lot of homework. No tests. Really chill and simple.
Class was very simple and easy. Lectures were engaging and easy to follow. Assignments were simple and help on those was easy to obtain. No quizzes or test, which made the class less stressful.
In person hands on lectures lot of reading but the professor is very helpful feel comfortable and free to ask questions and whenever you have a problem that stops you from completing work just talk to them.
Not a difficult class at all if you have good time management.
There are a lot of video quizzes. And writing essays.
Funny, sarcastic. She has easy to follow power points and instructions.
Dr.Foust's class was easy as long as you show up to class and do the homework and video take home quizzes.
Good teacher. Can be a bit dull at times, but that might just be because I'm not a history nerd. The "tests" are easy and the lectures can be entertaining, especially if you're into history.
Dr Foust is Great, she is caring, and funny and does not act like she is better than her students. Took Western Civ in person and she was fantastic, highly recommend taking her classes!
An amazing teacher, the way that she teaches and shows you info really helped me retain a lot of it. She tells history how it really is and not the muddied stories that we were taught, and shows fact-checked evidence. She could tell our class wasn't handling the usual group assignments well and changed the whole course to make sure we enjoyed it.
This professor is cool, as long as you get your work in, it should be a smooth class for you. Also her group projects are fun!
This professor gives several chances for extra credit and their instructions are explicitly conveyed for any assignments. This professor makes history something more fun to learn unlike K-12 history.
Dr. Foust is super nice and lenient with grading and extra credit. Her lectures are very detailed and give a lot of information.
Dr. Foust is a very considerate and amazing professor, she likes interacting and her lectures are very interesting and informative. Would take this class again!
Possibly a top 5 history teacher ever, no kidding, the world is better with this teacher around
She would do lectures and Discussions.
Lecture's are very long and she gives lots of homework but she does not give out tests and she makes sure you will understand the information, would recommend.
This professor was great! A lot of homework, a lot of reading, a lot of writing. Her communication through email can vary. The work is straight forward and easy to understand, she gives you the opportunity to fix mistakes. As long as you turn in your work on time and follow instructions you'll be fine!
If you hate test she is the teacher for you
She was chill, just pay attention a take notes and youll be fine.
She's nice, no tests, lots of group work, lots of video notes, a couple essays
She does ask controversial questions that has been sweped under the rug by most history classes. She just wants to teach and share information with her students.
For the most part, she's pretty cool. Sometimes, she can be a pain, but for the most part, again she's chill. One thing you should be aware of when you take this class is that she will make you read and take good notes. She will 100% check for plagiarism and correctly cite sources. That's the one thing she does not play around with.
She's fair. If you missed assignments you have a chance if you file missing assignment reports.
She is very easy going. Great lecturer. Good, fairly easy assignments, but do not slack off.
10/10
I took Dr. Foust for dual-credit HIST1301 (fall 2021) and HIST1302 (spring 2022). I got a B for fall and an A for spring. Honestly, a lot of people complained about her class. However, she seemed to enjoy my section and often gave us the benefit of the doubt. She was always very kind and knows her stuff. You could tell she wanted us to do well!
terrible teacher crazy amounts of work
Professor Foust is engaging and her lectures are informative. The workload is manageable if you stay on top of the readings. Using tools like Unstuck AI alongside the free course materials has helped me succeed in this class.
No tests whatsoever, except she makes you write two 6 part essay, answering 6 different questions, she is also super heavy on group work, if you hate the "creative and interactive assignments" just beware, she made us do a group project requiring us to make a "rap, narrative mime act, play, def poetry, opera, or musical, about andrew jackson
Dr foust is a teacher that cares about you every assignment in her class is very easy there is only like 1 or 2 hard assignments which one being the 6 essay assignment that's the only one really, she cares about you and your grade you wont regret taking her trust bro. Im a duel credit student thats in p-tech and balances 2 sports and job trust bro.
lots of group projects, honestly just listen and do your work on time.
This class was mostly easy except for one big assignment. There's also a lot of group/partner work and a little bit of presenting and a couple lectures (must take notes). The extra credit for this class is good (you can get up to 5 points) and there's no tests. Overall, the class was pretty good.
Dr. Foust's class was the least stressful course so far. I never had to stress about any tests, and I always looked forward to being in her class.
This class was really fun. I enjoyed taking this professor a lot. If you actively participate in the class and turn in your assignments on time, you should have no problem with her at all. Always put your best effort in here.
The professor teaching style is good. And, the class assignments are very helpful.
She actually made me a little interested in history, and I learned from the fun activities she does.
She's Great!
She's amazing!!
She creates lectures and mostly prioritizes displaying the material through her own words so that we can get the best information out of the concept. She is very interactive towards her students and her instructions and how she explains the topics are very clear, which makes her class a lot easier.
Dr.Foust is a really amazing teacher. Her assignments are mainly group participation so if you're classmates are bad, that may affect the rating of her class. However, my classmates were great so the class went quite smoothly. Overall, easy homework and average school work. Although, her timeframes were a bit outrageous sometimes.
easy >_< :p :D
Dr. Foust did lots of lectures that would contain relevant info not on the slides, meaning absent people wouldn't get that info, but she didn't do tests, instead doing one big essay at the end of semester. Very compassionate and cares about her students. Reasonable and willing to negotiate. Did lots of online videos which were due sunday. 10/10
She was overall a really nice professor
You will have to write around 6 essays for this class closer to the end of semester. You will also have to write a lot of notes based off of her lectures and you will watch a lot of videos with embedded quizzes.
The professor was very professional when it comes to teaching and explaining and coveys the material clearly. I would say though the essays were difficult.
Very engaging and pretty funny. A lot of lectures but she knows how to sum up topics that she is lecturing about. Liked the active-learning style assignments.
Dr. Foust doesn't give tests. She teaches the studens in a way that involves practical applicaton and group activities that allows students to retain the informaton in a way that is fun. Her lectures are also fun and engaging. She has a presentation but does not read off of it.
Lectures and notes. Pretty lenient on assignments.
Dr. Foust keeps the classroom entertaining for sure. I really enjoyed the active learning type teaching with the classroom debates and interactions. The essays that were assigned were tough, but not the worst thing ever. In person, she is really leaned back and not very strict on behavior, yet some of her grading is questionable though.
Dr. Foust is a great professor! Her HIS1301 Course is def lecture heavy, but the assignments help you retain the topics. She also presents the lesson in ways that is easy to grasp. Her grading is confusing at times, but with so many easy assignments, I ended up with an A+! If you are participating, doing your work, helping in teams, you will be ok.
She does not do tests, but more so focuses on wanting you to retain information. Therefore, she does more lectures, research, and more interactive peer assignments. Her grading is a bit tough, just depending how you organize your topic but overall was a good and funny professor.
She does not do exams or tests and is very in class hands on, lecture heavy.
If you want to learn history in a supportive, creative hands-on environment where you will be transported back in time to view history then choose Dr. Foust Tarrant County College Southeast Campus.
She doesn't have any tests, but it's very nice and easy, and you will learn. There is one essay that's based on everything but she makes it very easy, she gives you an outline of questions to answer in each paragraph. I would 100% recommend this class. We have a bit of homework each week by videos and answering questions from the videos.
worst teacher ever don't take her , for your own sake
Ms. foust was literally the worst teacher I've ever had. Don't ever take her unless you enjoy stress and zero guidance.
don't taker her classes unless you like you see yourself drowned in essay and work , she is worst one , she is very tough when it comes to essay grade
It was frustrating because I expected a similar teaching style to 1301, but 1302 felt like a different professor entirely. If you're good at managing a heavy workload and like a fast-paced class, maybe it's fine. But if you're juggling other responsibilities, just know that this class demands a lot more than most history courses.
lot of essay ,and long quiz
Taking History 2301 with Ms. Foust feels impossible. She piles on work without explaining anything clearly. The way she teaches doesn't help you actually learn—it just leaves you confused. It's like we're being graded on guessing her expectations, not on understanding history. Honestly, it's just stressful.
I was struggling this class due to unclear instructions and vague feedback. The workload feels overwhelming, and it's hard to stay on track with deadlines. More interactive lessons or clearer explanations would help me better grasp the material. I hope we can address these issues to improve the learning experience.
Dr. Foust is an amazing, kind, and fun professor! Make sure you do your work, though. She gives out 5% extra credit toward your final grade, drops your 3 lowest grade, and rounds your grade up regardless of the decimal. She always want to try out new assignment types and make the class more interactive. You should definitely take this professor!
Amazing! Pros: drops 3 lowest grades, extra credit opportunities for up to 5 extra points added to your final grade, encourage you to make positive impacts in society and world, cares for your understanding of materials, open to students' feedbacks (of how she teaches). Cons: long, heavy lectures, late penalties (but still accept). Highly recommend!
Super difficult. She doesn't respond to texts. Doesn't give any feed back to fix one project before the next one is due.
Accused me of plagiarizing and using AI 3x but had 0 proof (because I didn't cheat) so it was dropped by admin, she also took many days to respond to emails, locked my assignments for over a week on accident and didn't give me any extra time to complete them, was very backhanded and belittling, and overall was not supportive or considerate.
Though the assignments for this class themselves are not too complex, the problem I have had has been the criteria for these assignments. The essays have a weird format that is expected, and the citing expectations make writing unintuitive and clunky. Overall, I wouldn't retake this class.
Do not take her class if you can help it. She will gaslight you if she makes a mistake on the assignment and still count it against you. She will also falsely report you on either AI, cheating/plagiarism etc. She will 100% waste your time and report you to the College and put a FALSE accusation on your TCC record. Worst dual credit class ever.
She gives good feedback on our assignments, and she wants us to succeed and not fail. And she wants everyone to feel comfortable and respected she takes our opinions and how we can be better
Worst classes I've ever taken. The professor is actively seeking for you to make a mistake so she can accuse you of cheating and report you to the school. Each assignment that is due by the end of the week requires numerous amounts of citations, where just one mistake or error will cause her to report you. This professor will be more harm than help.
She accused me of plagiarism on an essay I fully wrote just because one of my citations quoted the wrong chapter. Please be ware before taking her class, she is not interested in helping students and does not offer feedback. From the beginning of the sem,she starts by talking about how she's gotten 80+ students reported like it's an accomplishment.
For the first time in my academic career I'm having to drop a class. Her assignment instructions are unclear, and she is condescending. Upon reading the other reviews, it's evident I'm not the only one who feels this way. She is obsessed and paranoid over AI, and is more focused on catching it then gradin your assignment. DONT TAKE THIS CLASS!
The number of quizzes in the first module that are about AI is completely ridiculous! After completing four quizzes about AI, you then have to write a short paper answering three questions about AI and why it is not allowed, followed by a discussion board ABOUT USING AI! I wish I could attach a picture of how she wants us to cite, ridiculous!
i should've read these reviews...
This professor's instructions on how to cite are EIGHT pages long! Is this class History 1302 or an anti-AI class? Sheesh.. first 6 assignments are about AI. I'll just wait for next semester to enroll in History 1302, and you should take this as a sign to drop it.
The 5-star ratings seem unrealistic. The professor gives an extreme workload and expects perfect scores to move on. Late work isn't accepted without proof like screenshots or ticket numbers. Tests are worded to trick you, and she's strict about no AI and if she suspects it, she'll report you and you'll fail. Pick another class!
She is very clear about using AI, so just dont use it. Homework everyday, but it's just videos with a quiz after. You can take the quiz until you get 100 but the answers are shown so you cant fail more than once. Her powerpoints have too much information so it makes it boring. TRUST ME SHE'S EASY.Only major grade was unify of america.
Do NOT take her! She accused you of using AI as much as possible just to report you to the school. Do not let this class ruin your transcript. She has quizzes online, aren't that bad but her lessons are long and boring!
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. She accused me of plagiarism/ AI now it's this whole thing on my account because of her. She accuses any one of AI, her syllabus is all over the place, her assignment directions are so long like girl just get to the point, and in all, AN AWFUL PROFESSOR. The class used to be packed, now it's empty due to everyone dropping it
She will falsely accuse any student using AI, and if you are.. good luck now you have a whole case/ investigation brought upon you. I have a B+ in this class, but tuns out I'll actually be getting a 50 as my final grade because of "AI". Either way you're cooked, don't take this professor. And she swears she's funny #cornball.
Took her class lessons are BORING but overall really really easy class. I never studied and ended with a 93.Never got accused of using AI but she did caught some. Test arent heavy and wont affect u just do the hw and u will be fine TURN IN ON TIME. Hw is just long videos never watched them just answer the questions unlimited tries before due date
I did not use AI in her class but she used AI to grade one of my work, and it was flagged I mean all I had on it, was two sentences long and it was flagged it does not make any sense, because of that I went from a 82 to an F, like how, DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS.
The rating of her being 5 stars is an absolute lie, at best she's 3 stars i took 5 classes this semesters and I got 3 A's one B and just hers says F like is this a joke? Not a C or D but F? Every other teacher was big on Ai too, but she takes it to the absolute worst, guys/gals read the reviews don't just look at the Majority being 5 stars
