She's misleading and basically mean. She wants you to perceive her as nice one minute and as an authority figure the next. She basically sucks! She doesn't teach well and assigns a ridicolous about of unbelievably boring reading.

This teacher is very hard, but she knows what she's doing. She does lots of different stuff in class so its not always the same thing. Her tests are hard, but at least she gives a study guide.
She appears nice, but also seems fake. She has really short office hours (15min) sucks. She says she wont trick you in tests, but she will! You will learn a lot! Tons of work! But you'll learn a lot of stuff. And the project is a ****.
Dr. Berkos is exactly the type of professor that this place needs. I'm so glad that I have a very few prof's here to challenge me to learn. Her youth, energy, and dedication are a welcome change in this Ol' boys club. The Stupid White Men can retire!

ok listen up. first day. total ****! but she is just getting rid of the non-workers. class is hard but interesting and you will learn a lot. she works you but it pays off in end! no final is 75 above on all exams.
I loved her class! She is great!
I really enjoyed her class...she makes you work hard but you learn a lot. Don't be frightened by the first class, she doesn't seem like a nice person, but once you get to know her, she's awesome!
Prof. Berkos is one of those professors that really doesn't like people in general (men). She demands alot from students, but doesn't really offer much in return. Her grading policy is terrible and I think she adds her own comments to this site.

Will act the nicest and act like your best friend, and then screw you when you need her or during tests. Her tests are hard and ridiculous, and i think she's stuck up.
I like her test - go figue... the study guide helps. The class is way too much work for a 200 level but Dr. Berkos is enthusiastic and class is never boring. At least we learn a lot in there we can use.
Like the in class discussions and hw, HATE the group project. It's just un-necessary for an intro class to do so much.
Its way to much work for a 200 level class. She gives way to much work and should teach 400 level classes. She plays favorites. She is a good professor but gives way to much work. Her exams are hard! Dont take her if you have another choice
Dr. Berkos is awesome. She is always willing to help students, keeps very long office hours, and takes her teaching very seriously. Most people that have problems with her class are people that are not used to taking responsiblity for their actions.
Unfair, arrogant, and dense... No matter how much effort you put into her class, unless your on her favorite list, dont expect more than a C (Study or not) And she DEFINITELY posts her own messages!
seriously, i highly doubt berkos puts up her own rating, Yes, she is difficult, but it is called college. She cares about her students and if you read and care somewhat about the class, you should have no problems.

It doesn't take a genius to figure out that this "person" that is responding to all negative comments, has the same writing and grammatical style as the other postings. But you really arent that creative in teaching class either so, try again Kr
way too much work for an intro class, one of the worst classes ive ever taken here
Dr. Berkos is very challenging, and if you can't handle actually learning something I wouldn't recommend her. She is very clear, helpful, fun, and an all around wonderful woman!! By far my favorite professor yet!!!
Dr. Berkos's door is always shut during her office hours because she is on ratemyprofessor.com leaving comments for herself.
Has anyone noticed that the person that keeps accusing Prof. Berkos of leaving her own messages keeps leaving messages over and over and over, all with the same 3 ones rating? What a hypocrite! Dude, get over your grudge!!
Class was way too much work for a 200 level class

Be prepared to work your *ss off but you know that from day 1. Work amount sucks but class is cool (not boring, etc.)
She has favorites and doesn't randomly holds grudges with people in class. Class time passes fast and its fun to go to, but she gets ****y and thinks shes so damn funny!
What we have here is a failure to communicate
do you communicate better in english, or better in another language?
CLASS WAS INTERESTING, BUT THERE WAS TOO MUCH WORK. THIS CLASS IS OKAY IF IT'S THE ONLY CLASS YOU'RE TAKING HERE FOR THE SEMESTER AND HAVE A LOT OF FREE TIME.
just in case people didnt realize that college requires a little bit of effort, well sorry to break it to u but it does. berkos makes u do work, holy crap!!! shes an awesome lady who cares about her students, exams are reasonable and class is interesting
Dr. Berkos should not be allowed to post comments for herself on rate my professor
i'm taking this class right now and it sucks
lot of work but I knew that already. She will help if you ask for it, just can't slack off. Very enthusiastic teacher
very unreasonable prof, expects too much work in too little time
No Comments
shes a good teacher just exspects alot out of you. Do the work and read everything..tests can be difficult if you dont read, there is a big research project too. but class was interesting i learned alot
shes amazing....really epitomizes the communication field
No Comments
Hard teacher but very nice, gives u a huge paper and huge presentation to do....but class is always fun, skits and stuff

Don't take the class
i thought professors weren't supposed to go on here and rate themselves....

Class is a lot of work but Berkos isnt nearly as bad as every says.
quizes are hard, but you learn a lot form your speeches
This class is torture. I'd rather be chained to a wall in a dungeon and beaten with whips.
ALOT of work. Im in the nonverbal class and that stuff we did in Intro helps. A cool topic but lots of work, but its interesting and you learn a lot from Berkos. (I'm a major so maybe that makes a diff. in what I think about her)
Took her for intro to comm and now for Nonverbal comm, she always lets class out like 45 min early, consist of two exams, a paper, participation (she loves people who talk) and a 5-6pg paper...she does not take attendance, but the tests are kinda difficult.
I think her doctorate is from one of those mail in diploma programs
The class sucked, but she was okay. (My friends had other profs for 203 and they said theirs was hard to). U can tell she loves communication, she does skits and exercises in class so its not to boring. Project is hard and so are tests, so do the work or you wont like your grade. Going to her office is a BIG help with group prject.

She is unbelievable energetic. I love her. Yeah, she is hard but it was worth it to have a teacher that actually makes the topic interesting. Take it if you don't mind hard work and like comm. Trust me, she is entertaining.
This teacher is cooooooool. Very down to earth and makes class fun. It is ashame to see that some people waste the time to give P. Berkos all 1's since the reason they did bad in the class is obviously their own fault. I've had her for three classes so far and in each class, she has always been very fair and helpful.
Kinda hard, if you jsut follow what she wants you to do you will do well. She is hot.
This class is a lot of fun. Its really small so you get to know everyone pretty well. Professor Berkos has a great personality and knows the material well. You will get a lot out of the class.

loves the subject.... very nice... def worth taking!
Excellent teacher! Extremely knowledgable...must take a class with her before you graduate.
Professor Berkos is a great teacher. She is fun and interactive. The tests are based on the book. Her tests are always very clear. Excellent teacher defiantly take her comm. 203!
She is extrmely energetic and loves the subject. Her tests are writen fairly but they are really hard. You have to know every last detail from the book and her lectures if you want to get anything higher than a C.
She acts like she is nice, but she is evil when it comes to grading!
too energetic.....unfair with grades. Dont take unless you want to be screwed out of a grade
feminist & unfair grader...she comes off as nice but isnt
She's the best! Fun and cool, not too easy but if you keep up with the work you'll do ok. Learned a lot, made me take other communications classes.
I loved Dr. Berkos. Reading is a must in order to do well on the tests. She has an easy project and a relatively easy paper which can help boost your grade. Her tests arent easy, but she is very energetic. I dont know why people complain about her, I got an A. All you need to do is not be lazy and actually read and you'll do fine.
awesome teacher especially for comm research
thinks shes cool but far from it
She comes off very nice in class 1? then the feminist Nazi persona takes over. She reminds you of her doctorate every chance she gets, and REQUIRES that you refer to her as ?Doctor?? Kristen, please relax with that. Annoyingly talks about her child in class, again, please relax with that, it gets very annoying, very quickly.
Dr. Berkos has a multitude of personalities and is effective at manipulation. The Comm. education in her class so-so and include broad, ineffective rote memorization. Her personal practices are borderline criminal. People, concerns, feelings: they are all numbers to her. PR people likely to enjoy.
I found Dr. Berkos to have a multitude of personalities and was unsure whether this was a part of the curriculum or not. The Comm. education in her class so-so and include broad, ineffective rote memorization. I found her to be mean-spirited and manipulative.
Intro to com. Gives 3 test and a final, drops the lowest grade. 1 paper and 1 group project. Test are relatively hard but multiple choice. She is nice and helpful if you are attentive in class
She took 10 points off of my groups presentation because (since im pale) i get red blotches when its warm or if i'm nervous. Unfair grader, plays favorites. Talks about her kid and husband too much.
Decent lectures. Seems very nice and caring at first, then through experiences you'll probably see that she's very biased and two-faced. No extra credits, no re-tests, doesn't review exams in class, no quizes..ahhh run away fast! I studied a lot for tests and have a C+ in the class. If you take her, Good Luck! (You'll most likely need it...)
Classes are fun, tests are 99% from the book. Book use in class, 0%. Tests are hard, I don't know anyone who consistenly broke 85 on them. She is inflexible, deadlines are set in stone. Start on the essay, AS SOON AS SHE ASSIGNS it. You will thank me after!
High expectations. Although she is one of those self-involved, I-have-a-Ph.d. professor, she isn't that bad. She knows a lot and creates a interesting class. Students are expected to do a lot of work and learning ok their own. My advice: be mature and professional about your work, your participation and communicating/dealing with her.
Berkos probably decided that she was actually a good person at the end of her day and to write something nice about herself. Hense all of the "happy" ratings. I swear that woman is evil. If you arnt on her good side, youre screwed. If you want to take the risk, then I will go out on a limb and say that the class is hard but informative. good luck
i found her to be kind of conceited, dont criticize her tests she takes it personally. not hard to get a decent grade though, just read the chapters and you'll do fine. group project isnt too bad but kind of a pain. i ended up writing the term paper the night before and got an A on it
Dr. Berkos expects a lot, but you learn a lot. Her classes are interesting. She uses a lot of real life examples and she's excited about what she's teaching. Just read the book and participate and you'll be fine. I really enjoyed the class.
"Dr." Berkos (as she insists on being called) teaches a very informative class, but is a bit stuck on herself
Dr. Berkos is amazing; the reason I finally switch my major to COM. She expects you to know a lot for exams, but its helpful in the long run. Read and study and you'll do fine.
you think she is nice because she comes in the class with a lot of energy but....expects a lot of her students. you have to sign up for office hours or you cant see her. and you have to call her Dr Berkos. she is quite anal. But overall a good professor with personality issues.
Great professor! Very knowledgeable about the subject matter and about careers in the field. Very high energy and answers all questions perfectly. This class is not easy, you have to read and take very comprehensive notes but it is definitely worth it. Grade is based on mid-term exam, one semester exam, a project, and the final (all worth 25%).
do not be fooled by this professors perky exterior. at first she will seem so nice and friendly, but she is not understanding at all. as a person who studies communication you think when someone communicates that her online tests malfunction shed understand. well she doesnt, and she barely teachers. do not take her.
Class seems easy, then the tests are far from it. Although she has her Ph.D., she can't spell. For someone who is teaching me how to communicate effectively, she should learn how to ask test questions properly. Our last test covered 2/3 of the book and there was only 30 MC questions. When the class average on a test is below a 70...enough said.
A very nice woman who clearly loves what she does and loves getting to know her students. Tests can be pretty tough but if you study you'll do okay.
Her tests are very hard, but if you study you'll be okay. Class is very interactive and fun, so students don't do well when they assume her tests will be easy. If you read the text and make an outline for the test, you'll be fine. Very interesting and would recommend
Dr. Berkos expects a lot out of her students which I am okay with. However, there is very little clarity on the final essay which is incredibly frustrating.
Professor Berkos is AWESOME! I loved going to class every day and actually enjoyed some of the projects. To everyone who complains about the exams - read the text! Like any class, if you put the work and time in you will do just fine. Definitely take!!
Professor Berkos has assigned readings throughout the semester due every class. (You do need the book since tests are straight out of them.) She has three tests and a final, all which are questions she purposefully makes difficult to test your knowledge. There's many right answers, but she wants you to pick the one she likes. Hard B, Impossible A
Professor Berkos holds conversations in every class, which makes it easy to understand communication concepts on a real life level. Her tests are multiple choice and there are 3 throughout the semester. They are tough but if you keep up on the reading and attend class you will get goods grades.
her tests are hard. like, really hard. they're straight out of the book but its hard to keep up with the reading. however, her lectures are super interesting and interactive; you won't be bored in this class but you definitely have to work hard
She likes to be called Dr. Berkos, because she wants to be revered. If you take her, get ready to teach yourself communications, by reading your book in its entirety. Class does not help with exams. The class I took with her was a 300 - level so I understand to an extent. Tests are very hard, was only in the class for one but she is a fair grader.
Dr. Berkos is one of Bryant's best professors! Class is fun, and she even schedules a few online classes in the semester. Her exams are very specific, but do the reading, take notes, and go to class and you'll be fine! It's a fun subject so the reading is actually kind of interesting.
Great professor! Makes class interesting! She tells you straight up that you must read because the exam questions come from the book
Lots of group activites randomly thorought the course. Lots of listening to others present their short studies.
Really knowledgeable professor and makes class interesting, but just awful when it comes to grades. She is very unclear in what you need to study, and test material is not what we learn
I took this professor my first year of college and she seemed nice at the beginning of the semester, but she was not. She was very unhelpful when I met with her. The tests are very book heavy and some of the questions are not related to what you learned. Do not take this professor. She is very unclear about what she wants.
My favorite professor that I've had at Bryant so far! She loves interpersonal com and makes the lectures interesting. You do have to read and stay on track or else you'll do bad on the tests. Her tests aren't a joke, but you can do really well if you try. The only out of class work is the reading and one easier research paper.
Prof Berkos is a very smart and knowledgeable woman. She doesn't necessarily teach what is on the exams and the content you are tested on isn't always in the books. She doesn't really encourage communication even in a communication class. It almost seems like she is going through the motions and checking the boxes rather than trying to teach us.
Professor Berkos is a very nice person and clearly very passionate about Communications. Although fairly lecture-heavy, I never found her class boring because the lectures were interesting and conducted in a conversational manner. The tests were fairly difficult, so make sure you read the textbook and really understand the material.
Awesome professor! Took her for intro to com and declared my major of Communications before I finished the course. For T/T classes, one group attended class one day and the other on the next day. Class is all discussion and helping you understand the material. Tests aren't difficult but definitely study. I would definitely take any class with her.
Best teacher. For T/T classes you show up on one of the days for a discussion based class and for the other day you just do an assignment instead of going to class. Quizzes are easy and minimal homework just replacement assignments for going to class. Would take her class again
Kristen is genuinely one of the most caring and compassionate professors I have ever had. You will receive what you give to that class, and if you show up, participate, and do the readings, you will enjoy this class. Also she brings in current events to com topics that make them interesting for people who aren't majoring or minoring in com!
Berkos is really very nice and she makes the class discussions super fun. You really need to read the textbook if you want to get a good grade. I recommend taking notes on all the definitions and theories. DEFINITELY write down the examples or examples from your own life so you know what to look for. Leave a gap to write down the class discussions!
Berkos is one of the nicest profs you'll have. Very motherly and grades very fairly. Took her for Public speaking, she gives you rubrics and makes everything very straight forward. Just follow the rubrics and show up when you need to and your square.
Absolutely love Kristen! I'm bad at public speaking (anxiety) but I feel I improved. I got a bad score on the first speech, but brought my midterm B to an A. Two easy multiple-choice exams, a reflective essay as final. The final ceremonial speech is easy and short. Intro speech short, informative and persuasive speech fairly long (8min max).
Kristen Berkos is by far my favorite professor at Bryant. Her classes are fun and exciting and she's understanding and is there for her students. Her grading is up to you! She has different levels and you can decide what type of grade you want in her class. Even if you're not a com major, I would recommend taking this you'll learn so much I promise
Professor Berkos is the best professor in this subject. She relates lectures to her personal life, which is not only interesting, but helps you remember material. I love her grading system; everything is on your own, so you choose the grade you get. There is one assignment a week with one or two bigger projects that count for more of your grade.
She is so amazing and understanding. She grades by "specs" so you pretty much chose your grade. If you just want a C you only have to do two big assignments. She writes out EXACTLY what you need for a 100% so it is easy. Take her she will teach you so much and she is so interesting.
She is an amazing teacher. Her teaching style is very organized, and the spec grading was very beneficial.
Amazing teacher, she's helpful understanding and makes all aspects of the class you need accesible.
One of the goats of this institution, don't understand why her older ratings are low. Her class has a 'spec' grading style meaning that if you do each requirement of each level you get a grade based on how many levels you do. Best class ever
Despite the other ratings Professor Berkos was a amazing teacher. Was very helpful and kept the lectures interesting. I had this class at 8 am and I made sure I didn't miss it.
Shes amazing-very clear grading criteria, but just be open with her if you are struggling. She definitely wants you to learn
I loved this class and Professor Berkos. She always made the class smile and never assigned any hard work. We would get one assignment a week out of class that took at most 20 minutes to complete. She is also very flexible with late work but still expects you to complete it. I would def recommend taking her if you can!
The class is quite easy overall. She uses a grade scale where you just have to do a certain amount of work to achieve a certain grade (You have to do more for an A then a B and so on and so fourth) but overall, the work was not very hard and it is easy to get an A in the class if you do the work which isn't hard to complete.
Berkos is the absolute GOAT. She would walk an extra for any of her students. I absolutely loved the way she graded, you earn the grade you want. If you do the work, you'll get an A. She's so chill and so funny. Def gives mom vibes in the way she cares for everyone and how she is able to relate to all of us. xoxoxo love u queen Berkos
you get to choose the grade you want to earn and it is easy to earn an A, no tests or quizzes, no papers, she lectures a lot but its not boring and she makes it very relatable. made the 8am worth it! all the old ratings do not reflect how she teaches now it seems she has definitely changed a lot. very clear on gradinf and what she wants
Grading system is different than most other teachers, but makes it very straight forward on getting the grade you want. Not a lot of work to do and she is pretty nice.
Kind of an odd grading system, but it becomes very simple once you get going. Lecture-heavy, but always telling stories and in a good mood. Just participate and she'll love you
Professor Berkos makes the class super easy to understand using her grading specs. The information is very easy to follow and she is very understanding that we have other responsibilities. Makes an 8 am barrable!
I had her for my 8 am class and she made the class fun and intresting while always encouraging students to engage in the class. This was by far the best communications class I had and Kristen made these 8 ams tolerable and brightened the rest of the day. Also to her family reading this HI!
This was my second class with Professor Berkos and as always it was amazing. She's an amazing professor and person and truly cares about her students and the material being discussed in class. Her lectures are far from boring, making students actually want to participate in class and is a great part of the school day. Overall amazing professor.
Professor Berkos is a very nice and understanding professor. Classes are mostly conversation based, no slide decks or anything. There are no exams but the way she grades can be a little confusing. Its a tier system, so you ultimately decide your final grade. If you complete all the work in the class its an easy A.
I'm sad that I will never get the chance to take a class with Berkos again. She has a great heart and an even better personality. She made our nonverbal communication class interactive and something I looked forward to week after week. I wish her the best. She will go down as my favorite teacher I've ever had in my life. Berkos, you're awesome.
She's leaving Bryant this year, and she was the best teacher I've ever had, it was an easy class where I wasn't overwhelmed yet still learned a ton of things, teachers need to take notes from her, because that is how you teach!
