Kristen was always available to stay after class to go over material that students may have had difficulty with. She made the class interesting by use real life application problems in class, and adding the history of how concepts or formulas came to being. Oddly enough it was interesting.
I use to hate math, but after taking her class I actually liked it. Do the homework and go to class and you will easily pass the class! She's also willing to stay after class if you need extra help and are too uncomfortable to ask a question in class. I'd highly recommend her class!
Very Difficult Teacher! Harsh homework grader (has to have 100% completion and correctness). Difficult Tests and heavy on the homework. No make-ups for quizzes/tests. She is very nice teacher at first glance, but will later regret taking class. Half of class failed out.
Freeman was always willing to help and answer any questions that I had. Hw/quizzes are all online and relatively easy to do. You can correct hw/quizzes as many time as you want before the due date (so that's an easy A). Tests are more conceptual, but easy if you understand the material. She allows cheat sheets for the last 2 tests and the final.
Ms. Freeman is a great teacher! I hated math before taking her (and Kim Pham, another good math teacher), but she really explains the material well and gives you partial credit on quizzes/tests if you've done most of the work right. You can turn in hmwk on MML or on paper. She's obviously enthusiastic for the subject and I recommend taking her.
Great teacher, clear lectures and super nice personality. Also a major babe
Kristen is all-around a lovely person. She is incredibly patient and sincere and puts all her energy in helping her students. She moved at a good pace--however, she does not give practice tests or study guides. Pay attention, do the homework, study from the examples in class and you'll do fine.
The class itself is hard if you don't know math that much. She says that at least half the class usually drops out. She's nice and tries to be as helpful although its still hard. Sometimes if not always the material goes by fast. You need to be in class everyday or can fall seriously behind. She's also not the best at explaining material so study!
This instructor is AMPED UP ON MATH! From the first day to the last day, she's jazzed about the subject, and it's infectious. Every other student I talked to felt the same way. Super organized, clear, committed (beaucoup office hours!!), and just all-around a great experience in a HARD subject. Just finished up, & I can't recommend her too much.
She is one of the best math teachers I have ever had. I really enjoyed going to math every day because she made it so much fun. I took the summer class of hers and it was 6 weeks but as long as you do the homework and show up to class it shouldn't be too hard and she has no problem helping you, if you don't understand!
Kristen is amazing! Being someone that's always struggled with math I am extremely happy I choose her class. She is very detailed with her lectures and always willing to explain it more if you don't understand. Her test refunds save you so I recommend taking advantage of it. I would definitely recommend her. Never had an A in math but now I do!
Kristen is AMAZING! I had to re-take Math 103 and was completely dreading it. Her class is an easy to pass class as long as you pay attention and do your work. Attendance is mandatory but she's very understanding and is always there to help with confusion and recommend teachers for your future in math.
She is my first Math teacher in America. She is impressed. And I like to ask questions after class. She made me comfortable and confident
She's very friendly, nice and is willing to help if you need it. There's a lot of material to study and for someone like me who was never good at math, it can be a lot. You need to constantly stay on track to get a good grade
Listening to Kristen teach is like getting the information directly injected into your head. You can leave the class fully understanding the concepts. The homework is very fair, and as long as you make an effort to get nearly 100% on the homework, you'll do very well in the class. She won't trick you, and all you have to do is regurgitate hw probs.
Kristen was a blessing to me. Kristen will well prepare you for test. If you pay attention during lecture you will do well on the quizzes. For our class she did 1 quiz per week alternating between online quiz and in class quiz which helped to keep your grade up if your not a great test taker. He attention was on success of every student and felt it
Take her. She's perfectly clear on lectures, homework is no problem, and the tests are based on her noteshomework. Stats is a bit tough, but she makes stats easy and little to no stress. She's extremely nice and was a huge help every time I talked to her in office hours or after class. Only con is the lectures are long and boring, but its math
Always answers questions, no matter how stupid they seem, so don't be afraid. My prev cal class I always get D's on my tests, but in her class, I get A-B on tests. The hw helps learn the concepts and she is clear on what will be on tests. Best thing is that lowest test is drop. This saved my butt and I got an A in class! You don't need the book.
Really good teacher. Helps when you need it and is an all around nice person. Am taking her again, for sure.
Kristen is the best and most interactive instructor that I have ever had. Of course, she makes you very aware of the fact that mathematics is a very demanding course. But, Kristen presents everything that you need to kow about. Kristen fosters a very positive learning environment. She is very personable and cares about students, too.
Kristen is a great teacher for probably most of you. Math isn't my best subject and she makes you work in this class. Online HW takes lots of time. She is always there to help and urges you to go to her office hours. Has somewhat of attendance policy. She loves what she does and she expresses it. I would not take her again personally though.
Kristen is a very helpful professor. She explains concepts thoroughly and encourages you to visit her during office hours. The online homework is easy and so are the quizzes. She is a low key hard grader on tests, but always gives partial credit. Plus, you can use a note sheet on some tests and finals. Take her:)
The examples she demonstrates in class are pretty similar to the ones on her tests, however, some of the questions are pretty conceptual. Quizzes are all take home so you don't have to stress too much about them. Overall, this is a pretty easy class since it's elementary statistics. She teaches the concepts clearly, and it's easy to understand her.
She brings excitement to math, which is hard to do. If you do all the homework, you'll do just fine in the class.
gives wayyyy too much homework
Before I had Kristen as a teacher, I HATED math. It was never taught in an easy way to me, and I would get confused and give up. I've been getting the best grades I have ever received in a math course throughout my whole life because of her. Her lectures are easy to follow, and she gives tons of examples to help us understand.
I thought Kristen was a great teacher. She really did an awesome job thourougly explaining everything. She's more than willing to help in and out of class. During class she would go through things step by step, more than once if need be. There was A LOT of hw but it prepares you. She expects a lot, but is a funny, interesting, and smart woman.
She is nice but she gives a TON of homework and occasionally will not tell you the truth about how to prepare for exams and quizzes. Her study guides are a waste of time and I think she has an unrealistic expectation of how much time students have to dedicate to her class. Make sure your notation is spot on or you could lose point for the right ans
I struggled with Statistics. Kristen was absolutely amazing. She is willing to work with you to make sure you pass the class. She gives take home and online quizzes only. Tests are difficult but she ranks them so your best score is worth the biggest percentage. I would recommend her to anyone. Best teacher I have had at West Valley.
ive never been bad at matth but kristen gives so much work that i had to drop her class. she is very demanding. take someone else
shes a really good teacher! but just not for stats.. be aware she does say at the beginning of the semester that she teaches calc more then stats but other then that shes a good teacher and she cares about her students
The sweetest teacher ever! She is so sweet and very helpful I would recommend her a lot.
I loved Kristen's class. Kristen is very open minded to various learning styles and does not have a "professor ego". The key to getting an A in her class is studying the lecture handouts and doing the homework. She assigns a lot of homework and is strict on notation because she wants to prepare you for the rigor of university. Take her!
Kristen is amazing at teaching math! Her lectures were clear and if you ever need help you can ask during class (and she will gladly answer) or during office hours. Her exams and grading is fair and you get take home quizzes every other quiz. Just make sure your notation is right. On top of her teaching, she is a genuinely caring and sweet woman.
Professor Jackanich is amazing. She is EXTREMELY helpful, especially during office hours. Her Calculus class is tough, but thats due to the nature of the subject. She is clear on what we need to study for tests and there aren't too many surprises. There is A LOT of homework, but it helps for the weekly quizzes. She truly cares for her students!
Had her for stats, and she was such a great teacher. I struggled with the curriculum, but she was able to help me a lot. Her online quizzes are tough, but the take home quizzes are fairly easy. There's only 4 tests the whole semester, and she drops your lowest score at the end.
Kristen is AMAZING! Math has always been my hardest subject and as hard as calculus is, she made it enjoyable and explained problems perfectly. She truly cares for her students and takes the time to learn everyones name. I would recommend her to anyone especially one that struggles with math. Best math teacher I've ever had!
Professor Jackanich is by far my favorite teacher at West Valley! She truly cares about her students and will be willing to help you if you don't quite understand what's going on. The class does consist of daily(all class) lectures but I wouldn't expect anything else from a Math class. I HIGHLY recommend you take her if you have a chance too!
I took the 6 week long summer session so the class was very fast. Despite this fast pace, I had no trouble learning the content because she explained things very well. She makes it clear that she is there to help students and wants us to succeed. Attendance is m mandatory for success. She is one of the best teachers I have ever had.
Professor Jackanich is a fabulous, caring, and thoughtful instructor. Although summer courses fly by relatively quickly, she always saved time for questions and had plenty of examples. Online homework through Pearson can be long and tiring, but her take-home quizzes and exams were definitely reasonable. Attendance is key to do well in the course!
Kristen is the best math teacher I have ever had!! I've never been a math person, but I stayed at an A all semester. Truly cares about everyone's grade and understanding of material. HW load is decent. Weekly quizzes but super easy! Love her and her teaching style. Wish she was teaching every math class I have to take. Definitely recommend!!
SHE COO BRUH.. FEEL ME
Kristen is super caring and her teaching style is great. She's very clear about topics. I took her for Math 2 and it was a very heavy course. She has weekly quizzes, about four exams and a final. I recommend going into MRC or her office hours because the course is heavy. She's an amazing instructor.
Kristen is a great teacher. she care about her students, and it is important to her to get to know the students.
A solid choice for a math instructor. The instruction was clear most times and if she notices little interaction from the class she would willingly repeat the process until everyone was on board. She uses MyMathLab which was new to me but easy enough to use if you're used to xyz. I would recommend her for all your math classes.
When I say the class was hard is because I have not done math in a long time, however, Ms. J made easy for me to understand. She was always available to help. Great awesome teacher, I would definitely take her again.
She's an outstanding professor at West Valley. I had her for Math 2 and Math 3A. She teaches Calculus step by step. Ask her help for math, she's a nice lady. She gives a lot of homework, but it helped me become successful. I recommend her for any math classes.
Amazing teacher. Lectures are interesting and helpful. She's funny and homework isn't too bad. She's very approachable and willing to help. Tests and quizzes were a little challenging but not too much. I recommend her. If you are considering taking her; take her.
Kristen is the best math teacher, or even teacher, I've ever had. She can explain the most abstract, confusing concept clearly. Her lectures are interesting and she's very approachable and friendly. Her test reviews over prepare you for exams, so that the exam feels easy. Overall one of the best professors I've ever had.
She's seriously amazing, stats is a hard class because I suck at math. But she was great when it comes to lectures, notes are posted on canvas so it's definitely easy keeping up. mystatlab can definitely be tedious, but you'll find that in almost every math class. she Cares so much about her students, always tries to make sure nobodys confused.
Amazing lecture, hillarious, accessible outside class
This an awesome teacher. She teaches calculus in a good paste. Her exams are a little challenging. So don't skip class, keep up with her lectures, keep up with the hw, and always do her practice exams. Her practice exams will really help you prep better for the exams. If you do all of those, you good have a good shot for an A.
Kristen is amazing!! I'm not a math person but she explains everything thoroughly and encourages you to ask questions, never makes you feel stupid. She's really passionate about math, I wish she was teaching math10 next sem so I could have her again! 4 tests, 5 quizzes, and an accumulative final! Best math teacher ever!!!
Honestly the best math teacher I have ever had! She's super helpful and I recommend her for any level of math, her organization and note strategies basically guarantee you passing the class.
Communicates well about what is on tests. Also uses canvas to communicate about upcoming school events and extra credit opportunities.
She is head and shoulders above the rest of the math professors. Her lectures are very thorough and understandable, and she always tells you what will be on the test & provide a study guide. She doesn't curve, but she does gives a lot of extra credit, and genuinely cares about her students and even knows all of our names. Absolutely take her!!
Kristen teached a really good statistics class if you're willing to learn. I took her stats class over the summer. It is really fast, but as long as you follow along through the lectures, and complete all the homework, you'll do fine. She offers extra credit here and there, and also lets students bring a cheat sheet to the exams.
Very sweet and caring. She made my least favorite subject bearable and even fun at times. She wants you to succeed, but you do have to put in the work. Don't be afraid to ask for help!
Kristen was a good instructor, the class was easy paced and no material was rushed through. 4 exams including the final. She is sweet and understanding but was an instructor that canceled class plenty of times or sickness and family issues ( 2 weeks were cancelled in my particular semester). Material was erased to accommodate for absences.
Her lectures could move fast. Homework & quizzes were sometimes due before covered. She doesn't really provide much background context, she tends to live in the weeds of the formulas, and not in the real world application of things; so brave asking questions. She was absent a lot, which was very stressful, but she was very personable & kind.
During my time in this class, I really enjoyed pushing myself. Lectures and notes are very important so be sure to pay close attention. We missed three weeks of class and didn't always understand course material because of her absences. However, I believe Kristen is a very kind, understanding person which made taking this class a whole lot easier.
I took her for Math 001 and then again for 3A. She explains concepts and theorems super clearly and is so organized it really helps make everything make sense. Always available and can help you through anything that you are having trouble with. Highly recommend.
My class only had Kristen for a short period of time before she left for maternity leave, but in the time I had her for a class, she was AMAZING! She made math seem so effortless and easy to me. I never thought math came easy to me until I started college! No textbooks, homework all online. Super helpful, and wants you to do well in her class!
Unfortunately, our time with Kristen got cut short because of her maternity leave. However the semester we all had with her was amazing up till the sub!! She truly cares and quickly responds to emails. She gives great notes that are available in canvas and her study guides are extremely helpful. She gives partial credit and wants you to succeed!!!!
Kristen was such a supportive and helpful teacher. she always looked for the best interest of her students. she was accessible outside of class, ready to help students anytime. she was a teacher who truly wanted students to succeed. i only had her for half a semester because she left for maternity leave but those few months were memorably amazing.
I am disappointed by the structure and scheduling. We are sent into break out rooms for 15 minutes a day for a group assignment and no one talks because it's not graded. Lectures are then rushed, schedule is never adjusted, and some lecture notes are finished after class is over. She is very approachable so I wish I felt better about her course.
I love this class! Teacher was my favorite and she helps so well went it comes to questions (through explainer). Shes a sweetheart and is so understanding. hw and quiz is only easy if you attend to lectures > quiz every week but 3 tries. Hw is kinda heavy tho.
Professor Jackanich did everything on her end to be able to help each one of her students. I've always struggled with math but she made it easy to understand math. You can tell she loves what she does .unlike other professors. and I really admired that from her. I would recommend her to EVERYONE that struggles with math or isn't a fan of it!
this was my third time taking stats. I have dropped it twice, failed it once, and just finished and passed with a very solid grade for the summer school term. I had surgery in the middle of the term and she was very gracious with that and was a very clear lecturer who was always willing to help me when asking questions. TAKE HER CLASS!!!
I usually always have something bad to say about math teachers but she is an absolute gem. She made me tolerate math when it is not my favorite subject at all and I actually understood her content. Please take her when you have the chance, she is so kind and understanding.
THE BEST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD! I have never been strong in the math department but Kristen was the best teacher/mentor I could have. She is SO supportive, and responds to emails very quickly. There is a lot of work weekly, and weekly discussions. She makes it enjoyable! Being online I didn't know what to expect but it was easier than I thought!
Quiz every week. Basically taught myself all the materials, maybe it's just me but she didn't teach very well and her test are meh. Look at her PDF about the lesson of the day to help you on quizzes and test.
Jackanich is an AMAZING teacher! Her lectures and pdfs and so informing, and if you don't understand something, you can always ask her in student hours, in-class, or email. She responds to emails very quickly, and is very considerate. She's one of the nicest teachers I've ever had.
she is so sweet, and understanding. if you need more time for tests you just have to get in touch with her and she will give you more time. i had her online so in person notes may be different, but she is very flexible if you are able to communicate with her.
Kristen is an understanding and caring professor. She gives a lot of point opportunities like extra credit discussions, she ALWAYS give partial credit, and extra quiz points if we catch her mistakes. She's very sweet and ready to help. But you still have to work and study. She gives a quiz every couple of weeks and 2-4 assignments per week.
This was an incredibly hard class. The material goes deep into Calculus concepts and takes a lot of practice and you have to have a strong foundation of first semester calc before tackling this course. I thought Kristin makes herself very accessible to go over practice problems for her tests and she offers a lot of extra credit.
Kristen is amazing. I was nervous about taking a stats class but she was great at teaching, as well as super kind and understanding. I feel like she truly wants you to succeed. If you need more exam time she'll give it to you if you ask her. Her homework isn't hard either, and you get multiple attempts. I learned a lot. Definitely take her class!
Ok honestly not sure why I struggled SO much during this class. I'm a STEM major so I'm not too bad at math and science, but this class took so much out of me. Kristen isn't too bad of a teacher, but sometimes doesn't explain things fully. She does extend a lot of grace though, and is understanding if you reach out and ask for help.
Love this professor, super helpful and makes time to help you understand. There's a lot of homework, sometimes it feels like there's no time to study bc of how much. But she gives late passes and extra credit. Show up to lectures, you miss one you'll miss a whole unit. Hard class but the professor gets you through it.
I wish I could say she is the worse so her classes would be easier to enroll into but she is THAT popular. Why? She is caring. thoughtful. amazing. understanding. She is everything you could ever want in a professor, nonetheless a calculus professor. Calculus is hard. But she made it enjoyable. Thank you.
Hands down the best math instructor I've ever had. Never liked math in general but Kristen makes it fun and engaging while ensuring that her students are successful in the class. She assigns a lot of work overall but if you plan accordingly, you will do well. If I was a STEM major, I'd definitely take her calculus courses -- she's just that great!
Kristin is one of the best professors I have taken while at WVC. I took her in person Stats 010 course and it was amazing. I was worried to take stats, but she made the class very fun and interesting. I would highly recommend her to anyone. She is available outside of class and will always be there to listen to you. Textbook not mandatory.
I took this course over Summer of 2022. As someone who's not great at STEM and math, she made this class extremely easy through clear lectures and was extremely caring. Her quizzes were based on the concepts she talked about in class (no trick questions). If you aren't great at math, and you need to fulfill a GE course, definitely take her.
Professor Jackanich is very knowledgeable about math and will gladly discuss math-related topics. Math is often a difficult class but she explains it well and made it intuitive. She'll go over material again if need be. Don't be afraid to ask questions! You can revise tests for extra credit. Make sure your intermediate algebra is sharp beforehand!
Professor Jackanich is the sweetest! She knows her material and is always checking in with the class to make sure everyone understands the lectures. You also get the chance to earn back missed points on tests and will give you points for trying. As long as you do the homework and make an effort to learn the material this class is a breeze.
Kristen is literally one of the best professors at WVC. She is very strict about HW deadlines, but allows for late homework anytime in the semester at 50% of the points. There's a LOT of homework, but it really preps you for quizzes and exams. Go to office hours as much as possible. Ask questions, she will answer anything, no matter how stupid.
Ms. Jackanich cared both about the content as well as the students. She gave us all many opportunities to improve our grades, and was enthusiastic whenever we asked for help. She was a fair, understandable grader, and was very forgiving when it came to late work.
She's amazing, she makes passing the class so easy and explains the class material very well.
She's amazing and makes passing the class very easy. She also explains the class material very well and in a way that is easy to understand.
Positives: Clear, very willing to answer questions, extra credit for catching errors, passionate, wants everyone to pass. The 1 Negative: Lectures may be slow because of frequent pauses for questions. Great if you take time to understand material, but not if you're frequently sleep deprived and have the class in the morning like I.
Jackanich is a great professor! She is understanding and provides detailed lectures. Tests, quizzes, homework are all very straightforward and graded fairly. Its not hard to get an A in her class and you learn a tremendous amount. Drops certain tests, quizzes, homeworks to optimize your grade and wants you to succeed in your class. Highly recommend
As someone who has been struggling with any kind of math throughout my entire life, I highly recommend taking this professor. Not only did Ms. Jackanich make the material easy and understandable, but she also made statistics actually an enjoyable experience. Hands down one of the best professors I have ever taken.
Best math professor I have ever had! Took 3A and 3B with her. Tests are fair and reflect content, homework is related to what is learned in class, and her lectures were very helpful!
Honestly the best math teacher I have ever had. I've never been the best at math especially stats so I had a low expectations on how I would do in this class. However Professor Kristen always offered her help even without me having to ask. A great and caring teacher. I appreciate her so much and I would recommend her class to anyone and everyone.
