This is by far the best lab class. She's a great teacher and is very helpful. She's the funniest and most helpful teacher I have ever had. I highly recommend having her as a teacher.
Amazing lady. One of the best professors. Very helpful.
She is by far the best instructor I have had at SFSU.
Does in-lab class only, not lab lecture. Awesome lab instructor. Explains things really well and easy to approach. Hopefully future grad students who are lab instructors or just lab instructors in general will be as cool. Highly recommended if available.
Kristen was an awesome lab TA. She lets you know what she's looking for and doesn't try to confuse you. If you have any questions during the lab, she'll answer without hesitation. If you're looking for a fun, challenging O-Chem lab, go with Decker.
I LOVE THIS WOMAN! Best lab class I have ever taken. She is very approachable and will answer any question you have! She is always checking on the students to see if they need any help with the lab! Lab report due each week, pretty easy if you follow her expectations. She cracks jokes with the class which makes it super fun. HIGHLY RECOMMEND HER!
Just freaking take her for your O-CHEM I or II (234/ 336) lab teacher, she is amazing. Kristen is easy and really informative! JUST DO IT!!!
Best lab teacher I've had in a while. She's laid back and approachable when you need help.
took her for lab, clear explanation of work and expectations. gives excellent feedback and always available via email. the best thing is she is very understanding and attentive of online homework errors/glitches. takes her time to manually input grades (major plus). do not take advantage of her kindness, she will snap.
Great professor.. definitely take her for CHEM-115
Great professor!! I would definitely take her class again!! She cares about her students so much!!
Very clear lectures(TAKE NOTES). Answers questions clearly. Gives practice tests before exams. Exams are on exactly what she teaches in class. She is super sweet & is available outside of class if you need extra help! Little hw & there's a test about every 3 weeks but they are relatively simple if you study your notes. Highly recommend taking her!
Look out for this teacher and take her any time you can. Really great at lectures and explaining thing and also supper nice and genuinely wants the best for her students. Do her right and she will do you right. Bless great teacher .
Highly recommend her! I am not very good with chemistry but she really does help you understand the material. Even if you are still feeling unsure she is more than willing to help you. Also, I had her for an 8 AM and every class she always came happy and excited to be there. You can tell she is really passionate about what she does.
Detailed lectures, iClicker questions for participation, 3 exams, 1 final, a lot of online homework (Aleks), multiple quizzes. Great teacher overall, she really cares about the topic and the class.
Kristen was an amazing Chem teacher!!! She has a lot of passion and love for chemistry which made it more enjoyable to learn from. Chemistry is overall a difficult subject for most, and she did it justice. Although, it takes a long time to get test grades back, but it is understandable because the class is so big.
I found her class to be easy and she gives one make up test. There is extra credit on all the test also. Her lectures are really good. Only problem she canceled office hours for two weeks in a row. Also, she doesn't follow through with what she says like if she says she will post a practice test on x day you can expect to not see it on said day
Kristen's lectures are easy to understand, she does a great job at explaining the material. Homework is online but is difficult because she does not make the homework, so a lot of the time what is on the homework is something we did not cover in class. Tests are similar to study guide. She does not make students buy textbook. iClicker is required.
Genuinely cares about her students and has an amazing personality. Easy to talk to and gives out lots of extra credit. By far the best teacher Ive had. If you get the chance to take any of her classes please take them! She knows a lot about chemistry and makes it easy for the student to learn.
Kristen is the best science instructor ive ever had. her teaching style and attentiveness to the needs of her students makes learning the material so much easier. just come to class and take notes, study for tests and you're golden. she's very approachable if you're having trouble. no textbook but she does make you get an iClicker and webassign
Generally speaking, she's an okay professor, there are better for sure, and there definitely must be worse. I enjoyed her course although my only issue was with how she graded exams. She only has three ways of grading on exam questions, either she gives you a 0%, 50% or a 100%. On each question I'd get 0/8 or 4/8 or 8/8, which does good damage.
Kristen is a great professor and her grading scale is extremely fair, you either know the material or you dont. I would highly recommend you visit her office hours she is extremely approachable! Ochem isnt an easy subject so its really necessary that you put in the extra work outside of lab.
Kristen was a good professor. Her method of teaching chem was through lectures which were pretty easy to learn and understand, she also gives study guides before each test there were a few times throughout the semester I really would've wished she did different, but she gave two extra credit opportunities and participation points are easy to obtain
Taking Professor McGraw for CHEM 101 was a solid choice this semester. She is genuine and wants the students to pass so she gives a lot of credit opportunities for that to be a possibility. Her 5 tests are based of study guides that are similar, and homework is worth one full test grade. Out of all the CHEM 101 professors, I recommend taking her
Kristen was great! She was really caring , relatable, and funny. Overall, a laid-back and chill course. However, be prepared for lots of online homework. Also, weekly quizzes happen. She lets you use your lecture notes so it's not bad at all. She was always willing to help during class, whether it be lab activities or quizzes.
Hated chemistry in high school but Kristen made this class enjoyable. Exams count for a lot of the grade but study well and review the homework and lectures and you'll be fine. She's really nice and is always available to talk about difficult concepts or answer any questions
She is great! She is super understanding, don't be afraid to communicate with her and go to her office hours, they really are helpful! Attending class is not mandatory but is recommended because she does iclicker questions and those count towards your participation grade so show up!
AMAZING PROFESSOR, EXAMS ARE BASED OFF HER STUDY GUIDES, BUT DON'T ALWAYS RELY ON IT, JUST TO GO BACK ON YOUR NOTES AND REVIEW IT, CAUSE SHE SOMETIMES TAKE SOME QUESTIONS FROM THE LECTURE NOTES, SO BEWARE. THIS SHOULD BE AN EASY A IN MY OPINION IN GENERAL. SO, GOOD LUCK AND THERE IS ALSO 5-6 QUIZZES.
I really like the way she lectures, the material is presented in a way that makes sense and she takes the time to answer your questions. Study guides are pretty similar to the exams, and her office hours are super helpful.
Exams and quizzes are based off of the lecture. You have to calculate your grade and all grades are posted on grade scope. No textbook is needed, but you need to pay for homework on WebAssign. I highly recommend this class.
Her 3 exams,1 final, and 6 quizzes are based on lectures, you are allowed to use your notes on the quizzes which is pretty nice. Participation is a huge chunk of your grade, so show up. She also gives you a study guide before each test. The materials that you need to buy /rent is an iclicker, and a $42 fee for homework which is webassign.
Prof. Kristen is honestly an amazing lecturer. Her lectures were simple yet thorough and easy to understand. The quizzes are open notes but the tests arent. The tests arent difficult at all if you study. It does, however, take her awhile to grade stuff. But overall an amazing professor.
Professor Kristen is lovely and will help you in understanding material if you don't understand. She is always available during office hours and will help you; she genuinely wants to see you succeed. Also has funny chemistry jokes! 10/10 would take her again!
Chem 102 is the lab for chem 101. LAB was super easy an understanding. Quizzes were easy too as long as you pay attention in the lab it's a secure A for the class. Attendance is mandatory so don't miss class. WONDERFUL PROFESSOR! Recommended for lectures too!! Sweet Professor.
Yes, she give a good lecture but not good enough for first time chem 115 takers will understand. She does not go over things a second time. Participation grades are from clicker. Study guide does not help for exam so do not rely on it. There are a lot of quizzes and there's no way to copy cause there are diff color. I did not enjoy the class.
Best Chemistry professor ever.
Probably one of the best professor I have taken. The class is curved by 3 percent and she gives extra credit. There are three test and final which is 60 percent of your grade. All I did was study the practice exams and attended lecture and got atleast a B on the tests. Anyone that says this class is hard are the ones who don't show up for class.
Kristen's lectures are so great and showing up for them definitely helps you learn! She breaks down information so well in class, I really think she's born to teach!! She respects everybody's questions and I love the learning environment that she creates. 11/10 would recommend having her as your instructor!!
Kristen is great!! The class is mainly based on lectures so you have to go to class. She is very clear in her lectures and answers questions with no problems. She gives 4 exams, homework every week and quizzes every so often. She gives a course outline and syllabus and sticks to it. Great Professor overall!!
I LOVE her class SO MUCH! It's lucky that I meet her in my first year. She taught chemistry with jokes, clear. Five quizzes in the semester, the lowest quiz grade will be dropped (don't count in), 4 Exams (No Final Exam)!
The best class I took this semester! Professor McGraw made chemistry so fun to learn and she makes sure that her students understand the topic before moving on. Theres 4 exams and five quizzes, lowest quiz gets dropped and she gives extra credit! Theres homework every week & she also grades participation via iclicker so dont miss class!
I love Kristen! She's so sweet and she definitely is one of the greatest professors I've had this semester. Her lectures are very informative and just study your notes and you'll understand the content well. Participation is counted through iClickers and she drops your lowest quiz score
Really personable and funny professor. She has a great attitude towards teaching and knows how to engage the class. Show up and take notes; it should be an easy A. Her exams and quizzes aren't purposefully difficult at all. For a chemistry class, Kristen made things very clear and easy to understand.
Mcgraw was a really sweet and caring professor! She lectures clearly and her test werent difficult! If you struggle with chemistry Id advise you to go to her office hours so she can help you and you get a full understanding of the material! Theres homework every week that are due every Friday, 4 Exams and 5 quizzes.
She's THE best chemistry teacher I've ever had and the first one where I actually understood what I learned. Try to get 100% on homework and participation because they are easy points. If you show up you'll learn all the material because she's such a good teacher. Make sure you review notes and study guides if you want an A on tests.
I honestly wish I could take Professor McGraw for all the Chem courses I have to take at SFSU. She made chem so easy to digest and really prepares you for exams. She gives great lectures, so show up to class and take notes based on her lectures. Her study guides are also really useful in preparing for exams.
Kristen is awesome, she makes 8AM lectures less excruciating. The class is graded on a 3% curve as long as you pass the lab. The tests come solely from lecture but they're not too bad. The hardest part of this class is the homework because Aleks is used. Kristen was very helpful with this both in and out of class, as well as very understanding.
Such a great chemistry professor! Was super understanding and compassionate during this whole pandemic! You have to watch lectures during your own time so try and keep up! 4 exams which were fair when it came to the context and grading. If you REALLY try your best and focus, youll be able to receive the grade you want
Professor Mcgraw was one of the best professors I have had this year. She is very understanding and was always willing to help. Lectures were straightforward, easy to understand, and she puts up practice problems before every exam.
Taking her class scared me at the beginning of the semester but it was the complete opposite! I love this professor she is great at teaching and is so nice and caring. The lectures are very straight forward and be sure to talk notes on everything. There are also review problems and study sessions before each test which is super helpful!
We only had one lab a week so we had the entire week to watch a lecture which wasn't long and maybe an hour long assignment max. Very easy class as long as you watch the lectures and the labs were SUPER easy. We had quizzes occasionally and they were about five questions and that was all. If you have to take a chem lab class, take hers.
I loved professor McGraw and she had a great online lecture course. Weekly lecture and lab material and quizzes every few weeks. No final.
Good class, great professor. Lectures were great just a time consuming class. Weekly lectures and participation questions. Quizzes every couple weeks and four large tests. Aleks is also part of this class, which felt unnecessary and tedious, and added a lot more work to the course load.
Watching the lectures really helps. Only problem is that the homework we do on this website called ALEKS has a different way of solving it. You're gonna spend a good amount of time on it to see that pattern. There is also weekly participation that you have to do. Homework heavy class but she's a great professor.
Barely updates the grades, youll spend most of your time doing useless ALEKS very messy and confusing. Her weekly participation is pretty simple, other than that youll be fine.
pretty easy class, just make sure you log in on time for quizzes
The class lectures overall matches the assignments given except the ALEKs homework assignments, the work is literally more difficult than the tests itself.
Her lectures are really good and shes really detailed and I was able to understand what she was teaching enough to do good on the test. But the biggest downside was the software she used for homework which was Aleks, Its awful literally omg,
Mcgraw is great at lectures, its easy to follow and most of the time it's clear. But they are long 30min- 1 hr so make sure to watch them in that week. The worst part was hw (ALEKS). If you get a question wrong, you wont advance until you specifically get it right. Also she'll know if you use Chegg or are cheating. So try to learn the material.
Kristin didn't give many assignments to grade; however, that means the assignments she did have (QUESTS, ALEKS) weighed heavily on your grade. I think the lectures were very organized and self-explanatory, and the fact that QUESTS weren't cumulative was extremely helpful. Just don't fall behind on ALEKS! It'll be a huge burden if u wait last min.
good professor, follow the syllabus, watch lectures, and do the work to get a good grade(:
She is a great teacher. If you communicate with her she is more likely to work with you! I enjoyed her lecture videos rather than being in a zoom because you can watch the videos on your own time. The work/quizzes are not so bad she explains everything well so it is not hard.
Prof. McGraw's class was asynch, she' s super sweet and understanding. I had her for chem lab. All you had to do was watch a lec vid and turn in the lab report, super easy and chill. There is a quiz once every 4 weeks, 4 quizzes in total. The quizzes are super easy as long as you do your own work and study. I love her cat lol.
The professor was amazing and I've never watched such clear lectures. Take some notes and you'll pass this class with an A no problem. You can tell Professor McGraw really cares about her work and puts time and effort into it.
This is my seconds class with Professor Kristen and she's absolutely amazing! Her lectures are easy to follow as are her assignments and they directly correlate with the quizzes. This was an asynchronous class so make sure not to fall behind on lectures! She is very helpful and approachable so I definitely recommend taking her!
Aleks is horrible, I don't know why they use it for homework as it discourages students from learning the right answer and only causes frustration. The fact if you get it wrong once all your progress is deleted is a horrible method that teaches nothing. Love the professor though, she is very kind.
She is very nice as a person, she has pretty entertaining lectures and makes them fun. However, be prepared to teach yourself a majority of the material. The ALEKS homework is usually ahead of what we are learning in lecture, and she does not review material after initially teaching them, which makes it hard to practice concepts.
Kristen has a lot of great qualities as a lecturer: funny, great handwriting, and detailed lectures. However, the ALEKS material (online hw) was often different from how she was teaching us. She is the hardest grader I have ever had for exams & Canvas quizzes. It was wild to get zero credit on a problem that I had attempted/got half correct.
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS! If you want to come to her lecture to go into a lab which is not relevant to the material she teaches go ahead. Prepare well for tests and quizzes, and is she is not lenient on grading whatsoever. ALEKs is time consuming and didn't relate to the topics we covered. She is nice and funny, the class setup is horrible!
She was so nice and made the classroom very welcoming and comfortable!!
If you are looking for a good chem 102 prof, take Kristen! You WILL get an A if you go to class and turn in the work. All her quizzes are open-book and you have a week to do them and they are only 4-5 questions long. She's also super funny and is willing to work 1 on 1 if you don't understand anything. So take her for CHEM 102!
She is a great teacher. I had a lot of fun in her classes, and she actually made learning chemistry easy and fun. Tests were relatively easy as well. Definitely recommend this professor.
most of the time in class not much would be explained... a little disorganized but once you clarify with her what was going on, the experiments were really easy. 14 lab assignments and 4 quizzes. very funny professor and it was helpful to take this lab class at the same time as lecture in order to solidify new ideas we learned.
Kristen works very hard to make the material accessible and engaging to her students and it shows. She uses ALEKS for the homework which is convenient but sometimes a little tricky. Make sure to do the homework on ALEKS early in the week so that it doesn't trip you up.
I definitely recommend this class. I took it in the summer and found it to be totally doable even though I was a bit busy this summer. The work load is reasonable and manageable. She tends to talk a lot and it was very distracting how she would call out to her dog and child during the zooms but all in all, a good class!
The class has 3 exams and a final that is cumulative. Homework is due every Friday on ALEKS. The teacher is the best teacher I've ever had in my life. On exams she doesn't only gives you points for having the correct answer but also tests your understanding of the material and she gives you points for effort so never leave your test in blank.
She's amazing her lec are very important to attend to to get your participation points. she gives a lot of extra credit. there is 3 exams she calls them quest and a final exam that is cumulative so basically 4 exams the whole semester, and she gives aleks hw, and you need at least 67% in lab and lec to pass the class.
I seriously love Kristen! Not only is she hilarious but she doesn't take life serious. She made chemistry more understandable. Do the ALEKS hw and use the study guide as references. You definitely need to know how to solve questions on your own but keep practicing! Don't fall behind either and attend all the labs and seminars.
I liked her as a person, but unfortunately I didn't like her class. Take this from someone who got an A+ in hs chem: this class was extremely challenging. Her class gave me so many breakdowns. She assigned aleks for homework and it was extremely hard. I've always been a thorough student and I had to give up on finishing all her work by the end.
Kristen is an amazing professor, she truly cares about her work and her students. She condenses heavy work into simple explanations. She is accessible outside of class and her office hours are a good way to get help. The coursework itself is demanding/rigorous, but if you consistently attend class and put in the work, this class gets easier.
Kristen is a really good teacher- she is clear, easy to understand, and writes only the things you need to know on the board. Some people didn't like her because she didn't curve the grade- but honestly, she made it very clear from the start and she respects communication. Exams are tough but are the same for all sections.
Kristin is sweet and supportive, but she assigns an overwhelming amount of work. Worse, she often skips important topics in lectures, and then bam they show up on assignments or tests. It's like she expects us to read her mind or magically know what we weren't taught The workload and confusion make her class stressful, there's office hours though.
she yelled at me cause she got "overstimulated" girl dpmo and she didnt wanna bump my grade
Great class if you read all the instructions and pay attention in lecture! Take notes! Worksheets take a while but only because they're pretty long. There's lots of people around to help if you have questions. Professor Kristen is really funny and understanding! :) Thanks Kristen!
Kristen always has a positive attitude and a smile on her face. She's genuinely an easygoing and fun person. When it comes to "studio-style" chem classes, it's not the professors, it's the way they're set up. The lectures are so short, yes, they cover the main ideas, but miss out on a lot of detail. It just all feels rushed. Couldsaymorebutwordlimi
Great professor! the material may be difficult but do practice problems and prepare for start questions and exams. she is very helpful if you go to her office hours. this class sets you up for success on learning how to study on your own since it is studio style, i learned best by practicing hw questions and recieved an A in the entire class.
