Tests are right off the power points, but makes class entertaining. Very cheery, hilarious, always there to help out. TAKE THIS CLASS - class material sometimes boring, but she makes you laugh the entire time!
Power points are on blackboard. tests are straight off of powerpoints. interesting topics. take this class with this prof!
Loves to gossip about "hot" profs on campus. simple quizzes. brand new teacher. midterm and final are right off of the quizzes and the power point slides, which she posts online!!
Whoever wrote that nasty comment is full of crap. Dr. Lewis is very personable and tries to make a boring class to begin with as entertaining as she can. She's awesome and I would highly recommend her classes. TAKE HER!
hands down, one of the most caring professors at JMU. Very well versed in her field. Always willing to chat in office hours, regardless of how busy she is. While she does love to get off subject and chat about politics/hot men, she does it only with the intent of making class fun.DR. Lewis RULES
Unprofessional and rude!! She acts like you're stupid if you don't answer a question the way shes thinking (although they're usually common sense stupid questions, so it's hard to know exaclty what shes asking for), talks bad about her students who arent there to rest of class, not very competent
BEWARE of Dr Lewis even though she teaches straight from powerpoint, she has told our class that she is going to make the class significantly harder for the following semesters. She can be unprofessional and rude and then pleasant the next. Tests straight from powerpoint and some class activities.
Take this class! No attendance policy, but Go to class (hint hint: it pays to go to class), study powerpoint slides, do the assignments (which are interesting) and you have an easy A!! You will laugh every lecture, she's not rude, she just tries to lighten up the uptight people!! She likes shoes..
Easy "A" class. Teaches straight from powerpoints which are straight from the book, so you don't have to read. Sometimes may come off as rude, although I don't think she tries to. Definitely makes you laugh. All in all a good prof
TAKE HER! She can seem rude but she's just trying to make the uptight ppl lighten up! Tests and quizzes come from powerpoint. Textbook isn't too bad.
Good class to take if you want an easy class and an informative one. Nice lady with neat personality and very simple assignments. Take her if you want a relaxed class and an easy A.
I hate this woman with a passion. She is highly unprofessional and is only looking to make the class harder for future semesters. Her class is a joke and shes just a bitter middle aged woman who has nothing in her life so she puts her students down for trying to make an effort. JUST SAY NO!

Dr Lewis makes a pretty dull class more fun by spicing it up with jokes. Compared to the professors in my home country she shares more stories about her personal life, which is positive.Dr Lewis has grown a lot during this semester and has improved her teaching skills.Taking her next semester too :)
Easy class and an easy A. Not my favorite prof., which I attribute to it being her first semester teaching. She gets defensive easily when you question her and she can also be moody. I think she has potential to do a good job as a teacher. She's just wet behind the ears!
She is trying really hard.she has never been blatantly purposefully mean to anyone. Trying to befriend the students while still remaining authoritative. Young with a sense of humor.Participate and she will LOVE you!(I doubt she will make the class too hard, shes trying to make people respect her)
Firt time instructor. She is pleasant and easy to follow, worth the time to take her class! She makes it easy for you and is great help outside of classroom. If you try she will meet you halfway!
Easy A class. Moody at times but overall a funny lady. No attendance policy at first until she suddenly decided to implement one towards the end of the semester(grr). Overall though I'd highly recommend her..the tests are straight from the powerpoints so don't even bother reading/buying the book
Some people see her as moody, but who doesn't have their bad days? She is sweet and spunky, and wants her students to do well. Get to know her and it will benefit you. She's definitely a teacher that I would go out of my way to take again!
EASSSYYY...go to class and do the couple easy projects (15 minutes at max is all they took)! GREAT lady, loves her subject..highly recommended!
Nice lady, easy class. Attendance policy so go to class. Projects are easy. Tests are easy and come straight from the notes (which she puts on blackboard). She likes to laugh and jokes around a lot. Take her, not much work involved.
A ridiculously easy class! Never have to go even and you'll get an A. She is nice enough but kinda comes across as really snobby and superficial, and you'll DEFINITELY be able to tell when it's that time of the month!
LOVE HER! Dr. Lewis is so nice and makes class fun! Talks to us on our level and jokes around a lot, which makes class a lot more interesting and worth coming to. She's outgoing and grades really easy. Only 2 exams, midterm and final and she goes over exactly what will be on it.
Very easy class. Dr. Lewis seems really funny at first, but as the year goes on, it becomes less funny until it is down right sickening. Easy A, decent teacher, but difficult to muster the energy to even go to.
EASY A. Enough Said. *attendance might be important*
Dr. Lewis is really enthusiastic about epidemiology! I was interested in the class before I took it, so that helped. 3 hours is a bit much (she knows that), but it really wasn't that bad of a class. I got an A with no sweat, but that did require some effort on my part.
Dont buy the book, definitely take the class though. Attendance kind of matters, but its a breeze. Shes crazy annoying and but its worth the good grade you'll get.
Such a ridiculously easy A. Talks FOREVER but is funny and makes you laugh.
Love Dr. Lewis! She is the most down to earth prof. I have ever had. She is funny and even makes the boring stuff interesting. Straight foreward exams and projects.
Flippin idiot. Really ridiculously easy class but she has no idea what she's talking about. Class is a waste of time and I'm not sure how ligitimate her degrees are. Harsh, I know. Easy though.
Tries to make everyone happy, yet people think she's dumb. I think she's not that bad of a professor. Easy, has lots of easy assignments to boost grades. People, quit complaining.
DO whatever you can to take her classes!Ive taken 3 just because she is the teacher which has probablly boosted my entire GPA an entire point now. Very nice, kind of goofy, but very friendly.
Awesome professor. Test/quizzes are really easy. Study a little/review weekly quizzes before tests. She is a little goofy, but at least she has a personality. You will definitely wish all of your other professors were like her.
This class was actually a random ISAT elective that Lewis cotaught...It was my first time having her as a teacher and she is HILARIOUS! I am taking her for 2 more classes in the fall, because she is incredibly smart, and yet...still funny & interesting! I would def. recommend her! :)
the class over all wasn't too bad, but i see why people say she can be moody, but i took it as her being a straight up ****. She rambles and talks about random things...and if she aint got a man by now then nothin will help her ( so stop talkn about it already)...
I have some serious issues with her but overall she knows her stuff and has some good stories.
She refuses to teach this class. She spends it telling stupid stories about men she wants to date that get laughs out of the suck ups in the front. Her powerpoints are filled with gramatical errors, I dont know how she works at this school. She comes off as very nice; in all honesty, shes just the opposite. I had a 91% in her class and got a B.
I'm torn- she was very repetitive which made it hard to go to class, but she was useful and it wasn't a very hard class. Midterm, final, one assignment. Don't buy the book. It's ok to skip once in a while. Gripe: very condescending in answering/taking answers.
408, epi, env she teaches lots. very boring classes. don't buy the books, she never collects assignments. midterm, final and a project or two. 408 was esp boring I barely got a B and i've gotten an A in anatomy. the class is just hard to study for b/c it puts you to sleep. epi and enviornmenta are pretty easy
she cares more about her research than teaching. really paranoid at times, always thinks a cellphone is going off or someone's laughing at her. very few grades, will never collect hw even if she threatens that she will. moody and up for tenure. i feel bad for her step-children and future health science majors...
All the previous comments are absolutely correct, she is an ass. She talked more about getting married than about epidemiology. She said attendance was mandatory but never took attendance after the first day. When asked about it she threatened to take me to the honor council. She's not your typical JMU professor who actually wants you to learn.
WORST PROFESSOR AT JMU! Moods are unpredictable, she will humiliate you, and basically hates her students. She is snobby and thinks she knows best. Idk how they are still letting her teach. This lady needs therapy to get over her issues. However she is an easy A but a pill to sit through all semester.
If you are taking her next semester....have fun :(
The class is a pretty easy A, but she's very disrespectful and unhelpful. If you miss one of the "labs," she won't let you make it up, even if you have a legitimate excuse. Tests are multiple choice/short answer and there's one really tedious project, but the work isn't too challenging.
Easy tests. Never ever used the book. The material is easy and she tests straight from the powerpoint (MC & some FR), but she cares more about her research than teaching. She is a pretty terrible teacher as well. However, pretty easy A-B
This isn't a hard class. Lewis isn't too bad, she can be really nice, but she can definitely rub you the wrong way. Tests are multiple choice/short answer. Pay attention in class, review the powerpoints, and you'll be fine. Weekly readings aren't terrible and you almost never have class on Friday.
I have had Kristi before. She can be helpful if need be however behind her smile she is rude and self centered. Her tests come from the power points which is great however you will NOT have time to finish the final so do well on the quizes and labs. Not a terrible teacher but definitely not a first choice.
I was really hoping for a positive experience with this class, but she is the least sympathetic person I have ever met in my life. Lectures are "cumbersome", because she mainly talks about herself. She won't let you make up any assignments regardless of the reason. Good luck with this one, she's a piece of work.
Hands down one of the dumbest teachers I have ever met. I have never heard so many dumb things come out of someones mouth. Lectures are disorganized and incredibly boring. Every previous comment is true, she is god awful.
At first I loved Epi with Dr. Lewis! She made class fun and the info was interesting as well. Make sure to study for exam 1 and continue to study that info to exam 2 (final)it is cumulative! 50 questions in 50 minutes, I'm sure the avg. was lovely! Do all the case studies (-5) if you miss one. Class is mandatory, positive side no Fri. class!
She talks about herself a lot and has a short temper. She is not helpful at all after class, so make sure to stay on task and not get behind. The class is out of 400 points. 100= midterm, 100= final, 100= case study, 100= 4 quizzes. The midterm and final are actually really hard. Quizzes are easy. No class fridays but easy lab instead.
Class is boring, but not difficult. Most Friday classes were easy online assignments. Quizzes were easy if you listen in class. I can honestly say I did very little outside studying except for the tests. Not the most likable in class, but nice in office hours. This was an easy A for me. Lewis loves what she teaches, which is a plus.
Although this class was a lot of hard work, it was so interesting and Dr. Lewis is so much fun! She definitely makes you work for it, but yo will learn so much by the end of the semester.
I'm sure prisoners get more freedoms than students in her lectures. You are treated like an infant so it's like a trip back to high school. AVOID
Well where to start. She treats al her students like they are five year olds not allowed to go to the bathroom in class, not allowed to it in class because it distracts her yet she eats in class, etc. She is beyond rude to her students, her attitude clearly depends on how her love life is going. 6slides will take an hour fifteen bc of tangets. Avoid
She gives Jmu professors a bad name
Goodness she was terrible!!! She purposely makes her tests VERY tricky. Her slides are half filled out, half empty. She would not answer any of my questions about assignments or the material. Take a different professor, you will get an A. Take Kristin, you will get a high C or a low C (she has an 8 point grading scale btw).
She was so helpful even when taking online. I ended up getting a B, but an A was completely doable. Don't listen to the negative comments, she's great! Textbook wasn't necessarily needed, but a few quiz questions came from the book and it helped a lot for assignments.
Sometimes I forget that I'm even enrolled in this class... there isn't a lot to keep up with except for an out-of-class lab due almost every week that is graded on completion. Dr. Lewis shows her excitement for the material but can come off as rude and she is picky when she grades the exams.
People think she's tough, but her tests/questions come straight from the powepoints so she's fair in my opinion. Study throughout the semester, not just right before a test. You have to go to class though and she does take attendance. Labs are helpful study materials for the tests. Reading is optional, but helpful.
Lewis was TERRIBLE. Very rude, condescending, and huge ego. Insists she is there to help if you need her but the second you ask a question she acts like it's an inconvenience to her to re-explain. Do NOT email with a question even if it is a simple one she will still make you come to office hours to answer it. Talks a mile a minute. Beware.
I really enjoyed Epidemiology with Professor Lewis! I took this class as a maymester but it wasn't too bad! If you stay on top of the readings and complete the daily homework assignments, you will do fine on the quizzes and in the class! She was very approachable and really nice!
Lectures aren't bad but tests are very hard/tricky. Grade consists of only three tests and two assignments, so if not a good test taker maybe avoid. Talks to the students like they are little kids... Office hours are useless, she can make you feel stupid for asking questions, very condescending
I worked so hard in this class. Her tests are very difficult. I had Dr. Lewis for healthcare stats and she is the most difficult stats professor compared to the others. Reading the book is a MUST because she is very tricky with her vocab questions. All of the equations must be memorized, which is an added difficulty on top of everything else. AVOID
Extremely arrogant, not helpful, talks 10000 mi per minute, rambles about useless things, makes rude comments, strict, "too lazy" to fix things in her ppts, makes it extremely easy to lose points. Her grading scale for pretty sure all classes she teaches, a 92 is a B. No +/-. a lot of fill in the blank vocab on tests.
If you can absorb knowledge at the speed of light, take this professor. Other than that, get ready to teacher yourself everything. Dr. Lewis, Talks SUPER fast. No formula sheets, barely any class work, hard exams with her even harder grading style. She does not curve. I absolutely do NOT recommend her at all!
Talks a million miles a minute to the point where it's frustrating. Notes and practice problems came straight from the textbook but power points were confusing and always had mistakes in them so there really was no point to even show up to class at all. No formula sheets which makes difficult tests even harder. No partial credit, no curve. AVOID.
So... she clearly knows her stuff because she spends the entire first lecture explaining how over qualified she is for this job. The class could be so easy but she rushes through explaining things at the speed of light and then you're left to learning the stuff from the book. Also, a 92 in the class is a B because no +/- grades
Epi is a hard class but Dr Lewis makes it fairly easy. She gives you "labs" which are not graded but are very similar to the calculation questions she gives on the test. DO THEN. She Goes over them in class. If you go to lecture, you will pass. She is more willing to help people who go to class and ask questions and participate
One of the worst professors at JMU, ridiculous grading scale with no +/- , very rude and condescending, doesn't actually teach the material, not convinced she even understands the material herself, has you memorize formulas that are normally given in other stats classes, doesn't even let you go to the bathroom....... AVOID
I loved this class. The tests were right from the powerpoints and the problem solving questions came straight from the in class worksheets. She can sometimes be sassy, but if you go to her office hours and she gets to know, she is nice. This was her first time teaching the class and you could tell because she doesn't know the material perfectly.
I love Dr. Lewis. She is really sweet and smart. She always explains stuff very well, and as long as you study an A is definitely possible. Take her!
Dr. Lewis is very nice and has a nice sense of humor. She genuinely cares about her students and is available to help after class. Notes are fill in the blank, so going to class is a smart idea. I had her twice and learned a lot. She isn't trying to trick anyone. Take her!
AVOID. her grading scale is literally the worst thing ever. I ended with a 92% in the class and according to her, thats a B. rude, condescending, and horribly inconsiderate during office hours. take someone else with a normal grading scale and someone who is willing to help
Tests are fill in the blank and she doesn't give partial credit if you get the concept right but not the exact word she was looking for. I had her for HTH 320 as well and same thing with the tests. You have to memorize her powerpoints. Her lectures are pointless as she reads straight off the slides but attendance is mandatory. Avoid if you can.
This class is for the most part self taught, but the test material is straight out of the textbook, and she provides in class assignments that work really well as study guides. Dr. Lewis does talk fast, but she is extremely helpful in office hours if questions do come up. Tests are typically on 3 chapters at a time, which isn't bad.
A decent choice for hth stats but her grading scale is poor. She doesn't believe in +/- grades because when she was in school they didn't have that. Because thats a good reason?? Her tests are similar to the packets she hands out on Mondays and Fridays class is online. Not a nice or fair person but if you can get over that the class is fine.
I've never felt enough of anything to rate a professor before, but Kristi is the worst professor or teacher I've had in my life. Her grading scale makes it practically impossible to get an A and difficult to get a B. She is incredibly unapproachable and complains when no one comes to her office. Do not take her. Save yourself a C and do it online
grades on an 8point scale so you need an 85 for a B which is ridiculous. Rude, rambles on, grades harshly, and won't give partial credit. graded on 3 tests and weekly labs. I was unfortunate enough to have her for 2 classes in the same semester. Worst professor I have ever had. Avoid if possible.
She makes you feel belittled whenever you ask a question. She is rude and doesnt teach the class at all, the people who taught me were my classmates, therefore thank you to my peers. Id take another professor but if you take it with her its not the end of the world, just pray you have nice peers who are willing to help you learn the material.
Ive never rated a professor but I am now just so people know that she is an awful teacher, that way they are aware beforehand. Isnt helpful, doesnt teach, and is lazy.
I got a 91% in the class and ended up with a B. She gives handouts that you work on w/ a partner and has groups present on the handouts so she never really teaches. Dr. Lewis doesn't give +/- grades so basically you either get a 4.0 or 3.0. I did better than I did in 220 to get a worse grade. She'll act like by doing her job shes doing you a favor.
Worst professor I have had, avoid at all costs!!! I got a 75 in this class and according to her grading scale, this counts as a D. Take online or with any other professor but Lewis. She's unclear on material in class and will go on tangents so you end up teaching yourself.
This is the worst professor (and I use the term "professor" very loosely) I have ever had. She is incredibly rude to her students, terrible at explaining concepts (she does not seem to understand the material herself), and she will not own up to any mistakes she makes. Myself and a few others in the class went to the department head to complain.
I took 320 last semester and there were packets for every chapter with example problems. These example problems showed up on the test as they were on the packet, so make sure you do them! The textbook really helps with example problems because you have to memorize the formulas! Our TA had review sessions before the test, which really helped.
I want to say take her so everyone else can suffer like I have but no one should have to deal with her if they don't have to-therefore, if you can avoid, do it. She is very condescending and does not even teach. It would better be an online class. She says go to her office hours but when you go, she can't even answer your questions.
An A or B is possible in the class, but Lewis is a terrible professor. Very unaccommodating, she she will refer you to the textbook or office hours if you ask a question in class. Lazy teaching style (word for word from the book) and gets frustrated when students have trouble with concepts. Bottom line: avoid her class.
She teaches right out of the book, when she teaches. She makes students present most of the material, but doesnt check that they do it correctly so you can get screwed there. Tests are exactly (literally) like the packets so if you study those youll do fine. Also you only have 4 Friday classes for tests, the rest you have off which is nice.
I don't feel as if I learned as much as I should have in an upper level statistics class. Her "lectures" are her reading exactly what is on the slides and not elaborating on anything. Despite stressing that the class can use the textbook as a resource, you have to teach yourself because she won't answer questions, but rather direct you to the book.
A terrible instructor and an overall horrible person. I would not wish this woman upon my worst enemies. Avoid her at all costs.
Ive never had a ruder professor in my life. She is so nasty and does not care about the students. She is demeaning and rude when you ask questions. DO NOT TAKE.
I took her online this summer and it was a lot of work but she was extremely accessible for help through email. I was so nervous prior to her course after seeing these reviews but she is really helpful and definitely not bad! Don't let them scare you away it was a solid choice and I learned a lot from it
I took this online as a summer class, the homework is easy (about an hour on the handouts/30 minutes for the SPSS) and she provides a video on how complete the problems. As long as you follow the formulas and video instructions you will do fine.
Took her summer class and isn't bad at all if you watch her videos and reference textbook when you need. She's very helpful through email and her tests are very fair. All the people complaining about her as a person are the ones who show up to class without reading anything before going in. They expect her to do all the work for them. Get lost
5 exams, grading scale (point system) and attendance policy sucks - 2 late arrivals absence points deducted after 2 absences. Workload is easy - worksheets on mon using notes taken, worksheet and spss is presented by assigned group on Wed and following mon, no class friday w/ spss due same day. she is incredibly rude but easy A or B
Probably one of the worst professors I have had during my time at JMU. She is a smart lady but is condescending and seems to not enjoy being a professor. Changed the way the class was run on day 2 of class which was odd, get ready to do a lot of independent teaching. Grading scale makes things tough to end up with an A. Just take another professor
If you want to be treated like you're stupid, have a professor that is NOT understanding, and have your day ruined by someone everyday, take Lewis
Kristi lewis is a mean-hearted person. The class in general is easy, but she does not care about any of her students. The grading scale is the worst I have experienced at JMU. Most of the grade is determined by homework which she will give 0 points on if she feels like it, so even if you understand material and do well on tests you won't get an a!
Dr. Lewis does not care about her students. She's available for office hours but is otherwise an emotional wall and doesn't sympathize with students experiencing real personal/family problems. She brings in candy/food and it feels like a 5th grade math class. This class is MWF, online class on friday, monday is not necessary. Show up wednesday.
STAY AWAY!! She has an "8-point" grade scale where I got ended the class with a 90.8 overall yet I received a "B" because of this grading scale. Not a hard class at all, but the only way to get an A is by getting 95+ on all 4 exam's. Overall do not take Kristi Lewis unless, well no just don't take her at all.
Awful woman. I am taking health 150 online. She doesnt put directions on assignments and gives you 0s if she decides you did it wrong. Not available over email and doesn't care at all. Dont take.
Idk why ppl give her such a hard time. Shes very clear about assignments and what she expects. assignments graded for completion and not correctness. lecture is boring but online on fridays, hw due Tuesday nights and opens them on friday. i love the structure of the class so much rn I just decided to take her for 450. take her its not a bad class.
I took her class over the summer for four weeks and she was so clear about the assignments and was good about showing examples so I understood the work. Super easy, especially after taking MATH220
I took her class online, and it was easy if you do all the homework and attend the lectures. All she would do was go over the homework so you knew what you got right/wrong which is helpful for exams. I took Math 220 before, so this class was honestly just a repetition of that. She is very straight forward and I recommend taking her for this class!
Professor Lewis is actually a really nice person. Her lectures go a little fast but she's really accessible outside of class and she really cares about her students. The tests aren't that hard if you go over her powerpoints and attend class. If you put effort into the homework you will get more out of the class.
I got an A in this class but I honestly couldnt stand her. Its an easy class but she doesnt teach, just reads word-for-word off the slides. I went to office hours for clarification on a problem and she refused to answer it bc she went over it in class. Dont bother buying the textbook, I only used it for the example problems.
Took her for Health Statistics, and I honestly did not like her. She read verbatim from her slides, never took the time to make sure anyone understood anything, and was rude on a few occasions. We sped through each lecture, not even taking up the full 50 minutes. Was not very helpful at all when reaching out either. Dont take her.
Going to class is the only way to pass and make sure to pay attention because she goes fast. She has assignments that are given for completion and is really helpful. She answers emails quickly, which is nice. Getting an A is possible, but you have to put the work in.
I like her as a person, she is really sweet. However, she made 450 online way harder than it needed to be.. I wish we were able to use a formula sheet, there are so many formulas in this class and we just kinda have to memorize them which is kind of unfair considering other classes exams are basically open note. Don't think id ever take her again.
Ms. Lewis is the worst teacher I have ever had. Period. She is unclear with her assignments, flies through lectures without explaining anything, and her exams are absurd. If you are not planning on becoming an Epidemiologist, do not take her for this class. Class average has been 66 or lower on every exam we have had. Can't wait to leave her class
She is very nice and easy to talk to but has made her online tests a lot more difficult than necessary... I never studied for her tests which was my own fault, but most of the questions were strictly memorization questions which was wack. Although, it isn't difficult to get an A/B
Class was only once a week, but was mandatory and camera had to be on. Easy assignments graded by completion every week. Exams were proctored through Webex, but honestly were not bad if you studied and redid the assignment calculations. She does an 8 point grading scale with no +/-, which is kinda stressful. But if you put in the work, it's not bad
One of the classes each week is just going over the homework but attendance is mandatory so if you don't need a review you have to go anyway. It's just a waste of time tbh. Rude person in general. She's always in a rush for no reason. Talks super fast. She can't comprehend simple questions, which isn't helpful. Avoid her if you can.
Lewis is not well liked however I thought she was great. She knows the material very well and I think she is very nice and funny. Her tests are a breeze if you know and do the homework. There are 4 writing assignments but they are very easy. The class was not held on Fridays. Her syllabus is intense but she is actually very accommodating.
She really wants you to do well and she cares about her students. However, she does talk superrrrrr fast where you can't comprehend anything she says. Her texts are crazy hard and you have to remember all the formulas. You have homework that is mandatory, but not grades. She does give good feedback and has office hours on Sundays.
Kristi is such a good professor. She is a little quirky and goes through the syllabus about 100 times thinking she isn't teaching all seniors, but definitely makes things super clear. She has so many office hour times to accommodate all of her students and truly cares about everyone's success. Tests are straight from the slides and straightforward
Quote from a friend who had her for HTH320: "she was an awful human being." Quote from a friend who had her as an advisor: "She's not very kind..." And I had her for HTH450 and I can genuinely say that she is someone that I would never want representing JMU. She is heartless and egotistical and really does not care about student well-being.
Dr. Lewis overall was a good professor, especially for 400 class. You're allowed to miss two classes unexcused (she doesn't take excuses so use it wisely) before having your grade reduced by ten points each following absence. You'll have to do a group case-study assignment throughout the semester so pick a good group because she grades tough on it!
I really liked Professor Lewis. Statistics is a harder subject for me, but I finished fairly well in her class. I loved her coursepack, that helped me so much throughout the semester!!! Her course is organized and she always answers questions and emails in a timely manner.
Dr. Lewis tends to rush through the slides and focus more on the definitions than the math itself. We do the notes and then do the in class activity alone after getting little instruction on how to solve the problems. She also over complicates the math. Majority of the math can be done in a calculator but she teaches it by hand.
She is a good person and a good professor, however, she is extremely strict. Doesn't let you use the bathrooms, no technology in class. Makes you write notes on a book you have to purchase which was $50 bucks and on top of that a textbook. I tried to switch out of her class and couldn't hate this class.
Not understanding & is a stickler for the wrong things. Does NOT do +/- for grades so it's either an A, B etc. Deducts 10pts for EACH class missed after a certain number. We had THREE exam weights assignments due with in 10 days of each other (each worth 100; 1 exam, 1 case study, 1 cumulative final) If her finals weren't cumulative it'd be better
i suck at stats but this is the first time i've gotten an A, although it's an A-, she doesn't do +/- grades. really anal about a lot of stuff and thursday classes are boring bc she just goes over the homework wouldn't take her again for 450 because i hate memorizing formulas. the tests represent the course pack though so study those.
Let me tell you about this professor. She claims to be super smart because of all these certifications that she has received throughout the course of her life but you can really tell that she has no actual intelligence in what real life is about. She might be book smart for sure, but not someone you want to cross through your time at JMU. #run #npc
I thought she was incredibly knowledgeable, but she's super strict. She's also super Type A and teaches the class in a whirlwind, so I would make sure to buy the textbook if you need the extra help. Homeworks were graded for completion and the tests were okay, but class in general was unsavory because of her demeanor. Great content though!
Dr. Lewis can be kind of boring and expects you to read the textbook before each class to really understand material being taught in class but she has a coursepack used each class with in-class activities, important definitions and formulas, and homework problems. She goes though and explains all activities and homework, and is very accessible.
Dr. Lewis is fine. There's nothing special about the way she teaches. She loves to make it seem like she's smarter than you, and often talks about her thousands of degrees and certifications. She kinda teaches as if we are middle schoolers, but that can be a good thing because she makes the content easy to understand.
I LOVE Professor Lewis. Her coursepack is amazing and so helpful. She has great lectures and overall is a very organized professor.
Dr. Lewis was a great professor for lectures and her course pack provided all of the homework and lecture slides for the semester which made studying easier, however her test can be tricky since majority of the test is definitions and a few word problems so be ready to study. If you put in the effort you will be fine in her class
Dr. Lewis zooms through lecture and talks ALOT. There is one HW and one SPSS a week. Simple. You need to know what you are doing in HTH220 because she flies through this material. If you stop her to ask questions she will very nicely clarify. Strict about phones in class so you better bring your calculator. The TA holds lots of review sessions.
Definitely made me feel like I was in high school again. Her class is very easy, but is a pain to go to. I would leave class mentally drained because of how much she talks. Shows up in her Gucci outfit and talks, talks, talks. Can snap at you, so be careful. Just sit, look pretty, don't talk and you're golden. Just don't make yourself known lol
In her class you are not allowed to talk, use technology or leave the room to use the bathroom or whatever. She is going to treat you like a 2nd grader and hold your hand through everything she does. For that reason her class is very simple but she is an awful person.
Professor Lewis is clearly very smart and knows what she is talking about. The only reason why she doesn't allow electronics is so students don't get distracted, I don't know why students are mad about that. I've learned more in this class than almost any other. Only negative is she talks fast, she's overall a very nice professor.
With Dr. Lewis, you either love her or you don't. Her lectures are fast paced, but it's better than a slow pace in my opinion. You don't need the textbook, and she puts all of her slides in a course pack. Honestly an easy class with her. Exams were straightforward and came from the slides. Homework was for participation.
Dr. Lewis is very strict, she does not allow technology, talking, bathroom breaks, etc. She can also sometimes be passive aggressive and talks fast, HOWEVER, she is extremely knowledgeable, and she knows how to teach well. All of the ppts are in a course pack, HW is graded on completion, and tests are straight from the ppts. Easy A in my opinion.
Lectures are boring. No phones, no computers. 3 exams, 1 final, 1 case study exam in the testing center. Not the worst, but are better professors for this class out there. Her class isn't bad though, it is bearable. Assigns homework but is graded on completion. TA helped a lot when it came to exams. Can miss 6 classes before it affects your grade.
professor is extremely strict, no technology usage in class whatsoever, required textbook, use for homework/ lecture. pretty easy course if you have all required materials. SPSS and definition for homework, half definition for exams and problem solving the second half. class is not bad but she treats worse than a 3rd grader.
took this during summer, not bad whatsoever, has google doc for classwork assignment to complete with the slides she posts. four exam including final, easy four week course. grade weird for all her course, not the standard grading scale.
Despite her poor ratings, I would recommend her for 320 and 450 because her exams are extremely fair. HW is graded on completion so easy points, exams are straight from her required course pack so studying that leads to good exam grades, and she allows 4 free skips for attendance. Textbook isn't needed for success in her class.
Dr. Lewis teaches in a very structured way, which can be helpful but also feels a bit like being back in high school. The class material is straightforward, but make sure to stay engaged and use tools like Unstuck AI for efficient study prep.
If you want an easy med term class, take it with her! It is so easy, each week you have a homework assignment that is graded on completion and a quiz which is 25 questions multiple choice and super easy. There are 3 tests and a final. The tests are 50 mulitple choice questions and the final is 100 multiple choice questions. 10/10 recommend
dr lewis is very organized, but i would not take her. we spend half the class going over homework and attendance is mandatory. she will treat you like a 5 year old as she will not bother to learn your name, nor is she accommodating at all. goes over the syllabus every single class and acts like you should be eat sleeping and breathing stats
OMG do not take this women. If anyone ever listed to me about something it would be this!!! Ive never meet a professor like her. We all say she probably has a tenure
Dr. Lewis for HTH 210 was amazing, she let us take the quizzes anytime during the week we just had to go to the testing center, but it was nice having an entire week to do it rather than be assigned one day. She also makes everything multiple choice, highly recommend her.
Just save yourself from taking the WORST TEACHER EVER.
