She is a very nice person, but she rushes through the material so fast and tests on it so quick that you don't understand the material that well.

She is a good teacher but sometimes it is hard to understand her.

I am science stupid and Ms. Daugherty helped me and worked with me and I ended up with my first "A" in biology. I was thrilled with the effort she put into her class. If you ask, she will go the extra mile to help! I loved her!

She is a great teacher ! When you do not understand anything or are lost, she will make sure that you understand. Once you attend classes, study, listen and take time to learn, you should be able to do well with her !

EASY class. doesn't care if your tardy. All her tests were by her notes. No need to read the book. just print out her powerpoint lectures they should be enough. Got an A+ and I'm not a science major!

She's nice, with a PhD which is obvious when she goes on and on about things that might not catch our interests. But she is helpful, respecting, and patient. She's open to ppl asking her questions, so don't be shy. Understand & study, and you're set.

SHE IS SOOOOO FREAKIN' AWESOME! Not only is she passionate about teaching biology, but she also has a great sense of humor! I WOULD DEFINITELY take one of her classes again. Shes a realy nice teacher and her labs were always interesting. Her only set back was that damn 30 plant colection project and if you had any intent on passing her tests you had to study hard. As long as you pay attention in her class you should be fine, and if anything shes always there to help :)

This is my 2nd term with Dr. D. She is great and has a sense of humor:). Although this class was more in depth and more complex (especially being honors), Dr. D is really patient and helpful in making you understand the concepts (krebs cycle ugh!!!) Take her I recommend it! Tons of extra credit too!

Dr. D is really cool. She is one of the smartest professors I've ever had. She really knows her stuff. The material was way more complicated than I thought it would be, but she made it seem easy and I got an A. Take her class.

Prof D. was a great teacher. She is very willing to help if you have any questions. Her tests are somewhat difficult and you need to study. She teaches all the material that is on the test though.

By FAR one of the best professors i've EVER had. You do have to do work but she makes it very easy to be successfull. She is extremly helpful, funny and she makes things seem interesting. I LOVE HER! I wish she taught more classes that I need.

Class is very hard, but professor is nice. She will help you out a lot, but this class is really really hard. I had to study three times as much for this class than i had to for chemistry and still came out with borderlie B.

Dr. D is a great teacher! I passed this class easily with an A. Online quizzes come word for word from the book, and exams are straight from the study guide. You have to do a little work to get a good grade, but Dr. D is very helpful!

She's great. Very willing to help. She was very fair (I did work very hard to make sure I can earn an A without having to go near a frog in a lab, so I was able to skip that lab, and I got an A! I've got a phobia against amphibians) I have very fond memories from her class, she is the sweetest, highly recommend her! Wish her the best. A+++++++

Dr. D expects you to study and be prepared, but she is fair and really nice. She will do whatever she can to help you understand, all you have to do is ask. She is freakishly knowledgable in her area of expertise.

Dr. D is a good teacher overall. She is always willing to help you, and she always keeps things light-hearted. I have never been embarassed in her class because I did not know the answer to a question. Biology is a hard class to begin with, so don't think that she is just a bad teacher. The class is hard work, but I've found her advice useful.

Prof. D is a good teacher. but it is important that you do your part as for any class. I really learned alot in this class and i studied alot. She's very willing to help. Dr. D. is a pretty cool teacher. She loves what she does, but her class can be tough. She does expect a lot from you and you must stay very focus and stay alot in this class if you want to make it out with at least a C. She is very helpful, but you have have to constantly beg her for extra credit.

Listen people this is microbiology, meaning the majority of us are wanting to enter the medical field. So if you're not willing to work at it, then choose another career. This is not an easy course, so GO TO CLASS, PAY ATTENTION, READ HER NOTES AND READ THE TEXTBOOK and you'll be fine.(I got a B and I have a life, 40hr job, & family to support)

It is true that the class is worth the effort. Most things are. If you want to get your money worth, take this class. The professor is helpful. Yes, several students dropped the class, but the quality of the class went up after these people were gone.

This is a very hard subject and Dr. D. doesn't do a good job at "dumbing" it down. She is there to help in anyway she can, but even with all the help she offers & the extra assignments to boost your grade, the tests are almost impossible to do good on. She also favors students A LOT, and it shows in her grading of assignments and tests.

Very dificult and confusing. A lot of homework and assigments. This is a clas that if you want to pass, you will have to invents at least 15 to 20 hrs a week not counting class time. Test are extremelly hard and long. she does not give a study guide so you will have to read a lot. we used 3 different books for this class only.

Dr Dougherty is the smartest professor I have ever had. She graduated from one of the best schools in the country and is very knowledgeable. Her teaching style is very easy to understand. It was a treat to be in her class.

She is crazy smart and sometimes she goes on and on about genetics, which is her favorite thing. But she is really helpful, responds quickly to emails and makes herself available. Overall, if you pay attention to the study guides you will do well in her class.

I took this class for nursing school requirements. As a nurse friend of mine says, "just because you CAN be a nurse, doesn't mean you SHOULD." Dr. Dougherty's class does a good job weeding out the people who think nursing is an easy career field (yay!). She is tough but fair and very helpful.

I just finished with Dr D's course. My sister took Dr D's course 4 years ago and now is in Pharmacy school. We both agree the importance of this course to our development. I am so fortunate to have had Dr D for my teacher.

She is really nice and willing to help you in any way she can. I liked that she does not dumb down the class and she tells you so at the beginning so you have to actually work hard in this class. She is a really good at teaching and great at explaining things, always answers any questions you have.

Dr. D really enjoys teaching. She gets excited about the material and likes helping students learn. It is a difficult subject to learn, however she expects you to put forth effort. Advice: Read material before class so lectures reinforce it, study from her study guides, and ask questions on what you don't understand.

Very nice and knowledgeable professor. The class atmosphere is very relaxed and warming. As long as you put in a solid effort to understanding the material then you will earn an "A."

Dr D is a great professor. She is challenging and you definitely need to read the text and study a lot. She will not spoon-feed you answers for tests. If you read the text and study her power points she puts on blackboard and put in the effort you can do well. She is preparing her students for the challenges of the medical field.

Take this class. You will learn a lot and if you work hard, it is an easy A. The exams are straight from the book in the back of the chapter. The lab practial was easier than my high school course.

Dr. D is awesome! She explains everything very well and tells you EXACTLY what to focus on. Yes, you'll need to know a lot. STUDY the text and handouts. Don't be shy! Check office hrs on your syllabus and stop by in week 1 to introduce yourself. She'll remember you in a good way! She's very approachable and is always willing to help. Loved her!

First off if you're taking this class it is because you are going into something where bio matters so you should know things. It is not an easy class but she is def there to help you as long as you study hard, do your work, read, and pay attention to deadlines you'll get an A. If you don't need this class don't take it but if you need it take dr.d

Tough professor, but very good. She is a great lecturer, she has excellent Powerpoints, and she provides feedback to the students. She is not in the practice of giving easy A's, so if that's what you are looking for, move along. An A is very doable with a lot of work and dedication. She is a true asset to Valencia College in my opinion.
