I found Professor Polk to be an excellent communicator. She had a class schedule so we always knew what was due and when. Deadlines were important, but she also understood that many of her students are adults juggling other responsibilities. If a student showed effort, she showed mercy. I wish all my teachers were like her.

Dr. Polk was very graceful during the hard times. For example, our textbooks were late so she gave us some extra time for work. She also graded things very respectfully while also being stern about doing work. she was a great balance for taking a fist time Psychology class.

Dr. Polk is one of the best professors I have had. She is very caring for her students and our needs. She covers everything that is potentially going to be on the test and this helps the students to make good grades in this class. I'm not really a big fan of psychology but due to her being a fun and interesting teacher, I enjoyed this class.

A 16 weeks class condensed into 8 weeks. A lot of reading to do. However, she made it manageable.

Dr. Polk was one of my favorite professors I have had. She was always accessible and responded to emails in a timely manner. When it came too late assignments or questions, she was very understanding and was happy to help in any way she could. The workload and class schedule were reasonably set and manageable.

SHE IS AMAZING! I would 100% choose her first above any professor I have had. Not only is she a great teacher, but she cares for her students. When my grade was struggling, she gave me every opportunity to raise it. I ended up improving two letter grades because of her generosity and after my hard work, she sent me an encouraging email. Love her!

I have no previous knowledge of psychology but I really understood PSY-150 due to Dr. Polk's teaching. The examples she provided when teaching were really clear and helpful to me and if I had a question she was open to answering with insightful/helpful explanations.

Although I've only ever had Dr. Polk for an online class, she was more present than some other professors I've had for in-person classes. There are a lot of things she does that shows how much she cares for her students. In my experience, her responses to every forum post and eagerness to assist students left an impact on me. Literally my favorite professor at VGCC. She really cares about her students and goes the extra mile to make sure that you know that even if you are taking the online course. She uses a variety of assignments to ensure that you are learning the material! Wish I could take her for every single class. Take any class with her, you will not regret it!

I reached out to Dr. Polk and asked how I could bring my grade up a few points, Dr. Polk took the time and helped me identify what course work I could do over that would give me enough points.
