Awesome teacher! Class is pretty much 100% from the book, and so are all the quizzes and tests. READ THE BOOK! If you know the bold and italicized words and key concepts, you will ace the class. It's not always necessary to attend if you read the book, but in harder sections it definitely helps, and sometimes she gives extra credit just for coming!
Kristin is alright. Her lectures are all ppt and she uses a lot of videos. Her lectures are fun and all, but they get to the point where it's TOO fun. Her quizzes are ridiculously easy but are nothing compared to how hard the exam is since she doesn't make them. It's gotten to the point where I'll rather teach myself the material than go to class.
She is very kind and helpful. Her lectures are all based on ppt and there will be class nots to be distributed every class. Attending the class is not necessary, reading the textbook in dorm is enough. but it definately helps to listen to her lecture, cuz it ll be so boring to read the textbook everytime. her lectures are full of funny stuffs!
Kristen is an awesome teacher! Coming into college I was extremely nervous but she made the transition to my first Psych class very smooth. Her quizes are super easy, and if you know the vocab, you'll ace all of the exams. She's always open to talk to and she is easy to approach. If you have the chance, definitely try and get into her class!
Kristin was awesome! She was is my favorite teacher thus far. If you ask her a question, she'll give you different examples to make it clearer. She was really nice and really funny. Her notes are very organized and easy to study.
Love her!
Solid. As a sophomore I've only had two other good teachers. I enjoyed the class. She showed funny and interesting clips pretty much every day.
She is really nice and easy to approach. Her quizzes are easy, her class is overall easy. You dont have to go to lectures all the time because it is easy to catch up but the midterms are slightly trickier so study for those. But she is an amazing teacher and makes the class fun.
She's an awesome lecturer and makes semi-difficult material super easy. I loved her.
She is the best psychology professor I have ever had and explains the material so clearly and so well--take her!
she was such an awesome teacher and made dry, difficult material simple and easy to understand! absolutely loved her.
hilarious teacher and really enjoys teaching. presents info very well. makes information very clear. taught anatomy and biology to me better than any bio professor at OSU. take this class, but be prepared to study. worth it.
Best professor I've had at OSU. Great presenter, well organized, and made lecture fun and interesting. If you can, make sure you take a class with this woman, because quite honestly I consider my experience with her a treat.
Awesome lectures, fun test questions (integrated hermoine and ron into a few questions on the final), don't have to go to class at all but she makes it fun and its easier to learn from it.
Overall great professor. Very organized and clear about what you need to know. Tests are pretty detailed but straightforward and mostly memorization. You don't need to attend class to do well in this class but lectures are interesting and helpful. Would definitely recommend taking her class!
Supe is cool. She does a great job lecturing. Not much homework. Come prepared for exams and stay on task with the readings and you should do ok.
Dr. Supe is hilarious and engaging without trying too hard. She understands that some of the material is boring so she switches things up and interacts with students a lot to keep lectures interesting. I really felt that she wanted us to succeed as opposed to those professors who try to trick their students, and the tests are fair. Take her class!!
Very good teacher. Very easy tests too. She gives 2 midterms and a final. She's fun and makes the material enjoyable. I went to all the lectures and got really good grades (A), but you don't even have to go to lecture as she puts all her notes online. Very easy and would recommend 1010.
She is an amazing professor. Her assignments aren't hard and the exams are straight from the lectures. Go to her lectures because she will tell you what you dodo not need to know for the exam. Also really helpful if you ask her questions after class and is genuinely interested in getting students to enjoy her class! Very engaging, great professor!
Professor Supe is one of my favorite professors I've had at OSU. She's very funny and engaging. You don't need to go to her lectures but most people do because they are so enjoyable. You definitely have to study for this class as the tests cover tons of information. I would definitely recommend you choose her as a professor.
Definitely a LOT of material. Her lectures and ppts. are super organized so you don't have to go to class, but it's worth it to go because she makes it so interesting. Hardly any HW, grade is based pretty much on the tests but they aren't hard (if you study!) one of the most knowledgeable teachers I've come across. Take her if you get the chance!
Kristin is a great professor. She truly wants every student to succeed and will give you the materials to do so. She provides organized notes to follow, and attendance is not mandatory. I recommend attending each lecture, however, because they are interesting and helpful.
This professor truly wants her students to succeed, and if you are going to take Psych 3313, she is the professor I would recommend. The information in her slides is more than enough and she allows time for questions on lectures before and after class. Be ready to study hard for the tests, if you do so, you will succeed!
One of my favorite professors so far. She makes class enjoyable, all exam material is covered in lecture, questions are straightforward. Study with a friend and quiz each other. Don't lose hope if you don't do well on the first exam, because they get progressively easier (don't get cocky and not study, either). But youcan get an A just by cramming.
Amazing, amazing, amazing... did I say amazing
I really enjoyed this class. I was skept to take it at first bc I thought it would be hard. She provides a lot of info so know how to take good notes. Most exciting thing we got to do was touch a human brain. Final isn't cumulative so that's a plus. You'll be thankful you took her class.
She was ok. She was definitely entertaining. I took her for an upper level course (3000) and it was a challenge. You really have to put in work when it comes to exams. I didn't know what to study for and with the large amount of material and limited questions and didnt know where to focus, which is painful when you have 3 other classes
Dr. Supe is by far my favorite professor so far at OSU. She gives very thorough lectures, makes the information interesting, and is really genuinely interested in her students doing well. Her tests aren't extremely difficult, but you have to know the information pretty well. If you study and work at it, an A is easily achievable.
The class is tough. It is a ton of material to cover so the lectures are fast-paced and overwhelming. However, Dr. Supe does everything she can to make it better. She is hilarious and a great person, she's super excited to help with the class or with life in general. Slides are online, but attendance is a good idea because it's a hard class.
VERY good professor. Definitely knows her material. Tests are pretty specific and you will need to study, but that aren't horrible. Lots of information but she makes the class fun. Puts the slides online so attendance isn't necessary but does 5 random checks throughout. Overall, great teacher and good class.
Incredible professor! She cares so much about the content and makes it really interesting, so go to lecture. She makes a really complex topic more understandable to the general public and has fun while doing it. Study her LECTURES and ask questions. Make practice questions for yourself to study and you'll do great!
The BEST behavioral neuro professor. She loves what she does, her lectures are clear. The textbook is helpful but you really don't need it. Go to office hours, she's great to talk to. The tests are detailed but by far the easiest of all the introductory neuroscience professors'.
GO to lecture and follow with notes posted on carmen. DO the study guides. Fair tests. Tries to make lectures interesting. Grade consists mostly of four exams including final.
One of my favorite professors. Enthusiastic about the material and easy to talk to. Very straightforward with her lectures, if you go to class and pay attention you will be fine. Her tests are pretty much straight from the slides, and you can pretty much cram and be okay on the exams. The final isn't cumulative either, which is a plus.
You don't need the book to pass, but I advise paying attention and going to lectures. I printed out all the slides in advance, and that helped me a lot, but she is very good in explaining everything and gives study guides for her exams
Kristin Supe is awesome!! Her lectures are interesting (I actually paid attention), and I loved how she explains concepts clearly and includes relevant examples to go along with them. Tests are over a lot of material, but memorize all the info on the lectures and you won't need the textbook. Can get away with skipping occasionally. Easy homework.
She is very caring and helpful. Her lecture uses examples to clearly explain the definition in the textbook.
Not a hard of a gen ed, but I put little to no effort in it admittedly. Lectures were a bit boring. You can skip this class and pass if you have good test taking skills and go over basic concepts, but there are in class points to receive that'll likely make you go anyway. Didn't respond to my emails either, but overall is pretty clear.
There is a lot of material covered in this class and it's a little hard to keep up during lectures, but there is a study guide and the test is straightforward. Homework is easy and book wasn't really needed. Supe was really helpful and gave a pretty substantial extra credit assignment.
One of my favorite professors at OSU. This class is extremely detail-oriented, but lectures are engaging and Dr. Supe is very enthusiastic. Find what works for you. I found reading the book very helpful - some test questions are based specifically from the book however, the book isn't absolutely necessary to pass class. Overall, A+ professor
Genuinely cares about the material which makes for engaging, easy-to-follow lectures for difficult information. Also, friendly and understanding of students' difficult schedules.
Each week there are two small assignments, a small short answer (sometimes opinion based) and a short quiz that can be retaken. The midterms and final are in person and very easy as long as you read the night before.
Exams were easier than what I expected. Use powerpoint slides to study. Covers a lot of material in lecture but just get the big picture to do well. Cares about her students!
Huge ppt lectures, each 40-80 slides. She covers about 5-7 of these per exam. Tests are based on slides, over random details. Not accessible, office hrs are appointment only. Rushes at end of class after going off topic constantly. No extra credit, study guide, or practice questions. Can't drop 1 exam like every other 3313 teacher. Many dropped.
Supe is a great professor. She makes lecture interesting and you can tell she genuinely loves what she teaches. Her tests cover a lot of material and require a lot of studying, but the information comes right from the slides. Lecture is not needed, but for some of the harder concepts it helps to hear her explain it.
She wasn't necessarily hard to listen to but be prepared to fly through material, and have a lot of studying on your own to do.
Dr. Supe is easily most amazing professor I have had at OSU. She is really knowledgable on the subject and really tries to get students curious. She is so funny and really keeps you entertained. Don't buy the book unless you're a neuro major. If you skip class, you will fail the course. The tests are difficult but fair.
Bad course structure
The course is set up for neuro majors even though psych majors are required to take it too. Your grade is very dependent on your exam scores. This is easily the hardest class I've taken and had to retake it because I failed the first time. The second time around, I am still struggling to get a passing score because her exams are so tough.
I loved Dr. Supe, you can tell she is passionate about the material. I found the course to be super interesting but be sure to study for exams ahead of time(I recommend study groups). Exams are going to be pretty straightforward and only cover material from her lecture ppts. It's definitely not an easy A but if you put in the work you will be fine.
Dr. Supe is a funny, but her lectures are pretty dull. Make sure to bring coffee to class. Be prepared to takes notes on your laptop. We do entire chapters each lecture, so you won't have time to hand write notes. Study hard. Don't worry about the textbook. Exams are all based on her slides. Dr. Supe is nice and understanding, so don't be afraid.
I've had Dr. Supe for two classes now and enjoyed her lectures each time. The book is not needed for this class as all the information that will be on the exam is covered in the posted PowerPoints. The exams were all multiple choice and online, meaning you would see your score immediately at the end. Great teacher, would for sure take again.
Dr. Supe is a wonderful professor. Make sure you come to lecture. She provides PowerPoints, but they wont make much sense if you dont go to lecture to hear her explain them. Dont buy the book. I got an A without using it. The exams are fair, just make sure you study the PowerPoints. Shes really funny. Highly recommend her as a professor.
Probably the worst presentations I have ever had from a professor. I understand that textbooks provide better detail to material but her online lectures were pretty awful. Quick, didn't write down what she was wanting to say on the slide.
Just reads off of slides. Gives no study tools - practice questions, study guides, etc. Exams are online, & makes you show her your score when you finish and basically judges you to your face if you do bad. It was so embarrassing. Bad at answering questions, leaves you more confused. I studied more for this class than any other, & had to retake it.
She is awesome. Her class was super hard and had to retake it, but it's due to difficulty of material. She is super flexible about meeting to help you, she gives lots of examples in lectures of concepts she discusses. She refuses to curve unless literally everyone does poorly. Would recommend her to anybody!
Took this class with her & dropped it after 3 midterms because I still had a C after studying like crazy. Dropping was the best decision I made, I retook it next semester with someone else & got an A. SoI dont recommend her to anyone. This is the first neuro major class, & I know so many people who switched their major after taking it with her!
Solid choice in professor, IF you are willing to put in the work for it. Go to class so the lectures make sense. Best advice is to read lecture slides ahead of time since they are posted online.
She is very passionate about the material she teaches and tries to make the class interesting. The exams aren't too hard, and she is very helpful in office hours. She emphasizes the importance of learning over straight memorization.
I took two of Dr. Supe's courses, 3313 and 3310. This was a mistake. One of her courses (3310) was much easier than the other. Her content is lecture heavy, you do not have to go to class, but the textbook isn't used so its helpful to go. Grades are all exams with no curve and no extra credit. She also doesn't offer much if you are struggling.
If you love neuroscience/ psychology then you will love this class. She made things so interesting and was clearly very passionate about what she does. That being said studying is a must for this class. A little tip: get a white board to draw out some of the brain mechanisms. I went from a C on the first exam to a A+ on the second with this method.
Dr. Supe was an amazing preofessor! She told us she typically teaches neuroscience and that it had been awhile since teaching psych 1100, but she did a fantastic job of making sure we covered the basics and giving us thorough background information to help us understand. Lectures were hilarious. Would definitely take her again!
Dr. Supe was a pretty good professor and gave useful comparisons and mnemonics for concepts. She tells you right away that you don't need the book and everything is based off her slides. Exams were pretty fair and easy, but if you don't understand something prepare to be patronized. I would definitely go to another professor for help.
She's nice and you can tell she understands the material... However, she flies through the material and gives no indication as to what will be on the exam so you just end up studying hundreds of slides per exam. Exams are impossible I literally studied for HOURS and failed almost every one. Honestly if you need a neuroscience, take cognitive neuro.
Very good.
She's really funny (even if she doesn't always mean to be) and it's clear she's really passionate about what she does and what she teaches. It moves pretty fast and is honestly way harder than I was ready for, but she keeps the information interesting and throws in some strange examples that get lots of laughs. If you need this class take hers.
I believe her reputation is unwarranted. She was arguably one of the best lecturers I've had and I would definitely recommend taking her class. She is passionate in what she teaches and her lectures are very interesting. Her exams are fair and straight forward. Very much enjoyed this class. You do not need the book.
Supe knows this class very well. You will learn TONS of information very quickly which is what makes this class so difficult I CANNOT stress enough how important it is to review outside of class. Be ready to take good notes and pay attention because a lot of the information is base level for the rest of the class. She gets a bad rap but good prof.
Dr. Supe is the best professor I have had yet! She is such an entertaining lecturer and if you go to lecture you will learn so much and enjoy doing so. Shes so caring and very motherly However, attendance itsnt mandatory and if you study her slides well and you should do fine on the exams. The exams are the majority of your grade, though, so STUDY
Dr. Supe was a really good professor. This class was super interesting and I looked forward to going to class. She did a good job of making the information clear and understandable. You can tell she is very knowledgable. The class is fast-paced so if you skip lectures you will be lost. I studied a lot but it felt very rewarding to do well.
Supe doesn't drop grades, offer study guides/reviews, or more than 1 extra credit assignment. Exams cover a LOT of material. Supe is a really great lecturer, but when other OSU profs are known to be easier and it's your grade vs. theirs, I'd definitely recommend trying to take this class with someone else.
I received a high A in the course but stopped going to lecture after a month. She constantly brought up her kids when it wasn't necessary and over complicated easy concepts. I walked out of her class feeling much more confused than when I started. Exams are straight from the slides, but it doesn't hurt to read the textbook.
Brings an amazing energy to every class. Cares a lot about the material and cares for each individual student. Super accessible outside of class and will remember you a long time after you take the class and check up on you. Tests arent too hard if you Review the PowerPoints and show up for class to pick up the key sections. My favorite professor.
Dr. Supe is one of the best professors I have experienced in my first year at OSU. She is honestly a wonderful person and really cares about the success of her students. She does go very fast through lectures but you definitely get used to it. Anyone who has to take 3313 should take it with her :)
I took this class online, which made it a bit more challenging because it's your own initiative to watch the lecture, but the recorded lectures are super good and helpful, and the tests are pretty much just off the slides (I never used the textbook). The assignments are a nice grade buffer, and you don't have to do all of them. Great class!
Dr. Supe was a fantastic professor. She made lectures exciting and engaging, and is very communicative with her students if you need help. The class requires a sufficient amount of studying, but if you put in the effort this class is very doable. You can tell she is super passionate about the field and does a good job at spreading this passion.
You'll learn tremendous things in Dr. Supe's class. There is quite of bit of reviewing required to be successful in this course but it is one of the most rewarding lectures I have ever attended.
i did online psych with supe and theres SO MUCH extra credit. its definitely not a hard class but don't be stupid and not try
My favorite professor at Ohio State. She is so funny and makes lecture so enjoyable. If you review the notes and attend class her tests become fairly easy. I wish I could take another one of her classes again.
Dr Supe is my favorite professor so far. Shes incredibly knowledgeable about the class and you can tell she genuinely cares about both what shes teaching and her students. Everything on her tests she covers in lectures so the textbook wasnt really needed. If you want to take an interesting class with an amazing professor take this one.
Supe is incredibly passionate about her students and subject matter. She responds to emails incredibly quickly and is always accessible. She even went to Oxley's three times a week so we could chat with her (it was an online section). The exams are difficult, and you need to watch all the lectures, but if you prepare, you can pass. 4 exams
Supe cares very much for her students and is passionate about the material she teaches. She is on top of emails and willing to meet with students however she can. Three exams and a research project are the major grades. The project isn't bad, but the exams can be difficult if you don't study. Attendance is not mandatory, but I would recommend it.
i LOVE dr. supe!!! shes so energetic & truly makes difficult topics easy to remember through tips, tricks, acronyms, and real-world scenarios. her tests are easy as long as youre attentive and attend her lectures. cant get an A if you rely on just her notes. however, she gives hints on what to study & is always open to questions after class
I have to say, I was nervous to take this course online and dreaded it being one of the harder core topics in Psychology. However, Dr. Supe makes it really informational and fun to learn. You can tell she loves teaching the topic and has a big interest in aspects of the brain. Would recommend 100 percent. Pay attention to lectures and do the work!
Professor Supe was an awesome professor. I had her in Summer 2020, so things were a bit odd with the new online schooling but she made everything you need easily accessible. It's important to take notes during lectures and can take a bit of time if you take a lot of notes. The lectures and notes you take are important to study for exams.
So funny and lively! A bright and warm person who keeps students engaged and feeling cared about. Always looked forward to the energy and chuckles. Her exam questions are typically "what does this do, what is its structure, what is its function" or "what would happen if this structure/system was impaired". Know all that and you'll ace :)
COVID-19: Class was asynchronous, gave lots of opportunities for points via quizzes, assignments, discussion boards. Great lecturer, enthusiastic delivery of material. Assignments could be busy work and somewhat insulting to collegiate level students (scavenger hunt activities?), but fine for the points. Be prepared to keep up with lectures.
Took this class during the times of Covid so it was all online with pre recorded lectures. I found it very difficult to pay attention during these lectures especially when each module had at least 10 lecture videos. Professor Supe seems like a great professor, but I wish she would have cut students a little slack during these hard times.
Class was completely online and done on your own time. There is a quiz every other week that's worth a decent amount, however, there is a decent amount of extra credit that really helps your grade if you do it. If you have questions office hours can be very helpful. They told many stories told and videos can get tedious but overall decent class
The lectures were A LOT, especially for online class, but if you kept up and took good notes her exams were a breeze. Open note, open book (although I don't use the book) and no surprises at all.
Her class was the most challenging one I've taken as a psych major, but it got better later in the semester. Most of the content was learned from the lectures, which could get lengthy. Textbook was optional. Homework/discussions were pretty easy. Biweekly quizzes were worth many points and could be stressful because of time constraints.
Phenomenal professor. She really understands her students. Class was very organized and consisted of two assignments, a quiz and a video essay each week. The quizzes come straight from the PPT, the video essays are very simple and are only like a minute long. The assignments can be reading research papers to doing infographics. Cool class too!
Dr. Supe is a very kind lecturer, and I enjoyed Behavioral Neuro! The notes are extremely long, however, and tests are difficult with little time to complete. If you are struggling, Dr. Supe is a great person to access and is understanding. The coursework is very time consuming, but if youre interested in the topics then its really not horrible.
I had Dr. Supe for both PSYCH3313 and again for PSYCH4501, and she is just as wonderful. This class is themed around sleep and the brain, and there are no exams -- just three group projects and weekly Carmen quizzes. She cares a lot about the wellbeing of her students and is one of the most understanding professors I've had at OSU.
Amazingly knowledgeable and informative. Notoriously difficult core class, wasnt so hard online and asynchronous but not sure if it asynchronous still
I would recommend taking this class because its really hard. The teacher is nice but you will most likely struggle.
Great prof, she's an excellent teacher. Great at breaking down complex topics and approaching potentially sensitive topics thoughtfully and respectfully. This class was group-project heavy, but it's full of overachieving neuro majors, so you should be fine. There is an emphasis on the real-world application of knowledge and science communication.
Extremely well set up online course. Sends out weekly reminders and wants students to do well. Wants to get to know you when you drop by office hours. If you watch all the lectures, it is pretty easy to get an A. Be prepared to spend about 10-20 hours watching lectures per week, though.
She is so awesome she made me switch to neuro, she is hilarious so passionate about her subject and a super engaging and sympthetic professor. I would normally hate a professor if I didn't get an A but I just cant hate her she is an awesome lecturer and makes the material funny and engaging. I'd recommend her to anyone!
I would recommend taking Dr. Supe for an upper level neuro class! She is really fun and assignments are pretty easy. Three group projects throughout the semester, but all very manageable. She's very accessible outside of class and fair grader with clear expectations.
Pros:Is an engaging lecturer and assignments are reasonable. Cons:Believes she is more accommodating than she is. Students are able to turn in homework or quizzes three days late twice, not the worst extension policy, but she frames it as being so understanding even though three days is not a lot of time when you're really going through it.
In addition to learning foundational concepts of the course, I learned a lot about teaching - and about teaching online specifically - from taking Dr. Supe's Online Behavioral Neuroscience course at Ohio State. She considers not only content delivery - which she does exceptionally well, but also how students learn to learn. A rockstar educator.
She was an amazing professor! I personally would not take the class if you aren't the best test taker, as your grade is primarily your exam scores. It definitely isn't homework heavy at all and she's very accessible, but it isn't a show up and pass kind of class, you have to definitely put in the effort.
super engaging and well-organized class, attendance not mandatory but i found myself coming every day bc of interesting content and delivery. also tests are really based on lectures + lecture slides (posted on carmen), not the book - even tho ur grade is really dependent on how you perform on tests, if u listen + go over slides youll be fine!
Super memorable lectures. Very caring Proff. Exams were MC and very easy. 10/10 would take again.
She is a great teacher, is very funny, and is open for comments and questions. There were some assignments but the exams were worth a large portion of the grade. They were very difficult and the averages were usually C's. I had to work very hard to keep an A.
Might be different in person, but I am taking this class asynchronously and enjoying it. Dr. Supe is a great lecturer and obviously very passionate about her field. Her quizzes are straight forward as long as you can apply the material you learned.
Dr. Supe was great! You definitely need to go to lectures to understand the material, but if you do you'll find clear explanations for concepts described in interesting ways. Class is largely exam based but she lets students use notes so tests are pretty easy if you come prepared.
Dr. Supe was a great, personable professor who incorporated lots of fun examples & interaction in her lectures! As long as you go to class & engage thoroughly with the material, you'll be fine.
I had heard great things about her, but absolutely not for this course. Every week we have knowledge recaps to complete that are supposed to be based on what we learned in class that week, BUT she NEVER finishes the content. I'm talking 100+ slides and maybe gets through 20 and then leaves you to fend for yourself. I have to spend HOURS on them.
Professor Supe is engaging and passionate, but the class is quite challenging. Expect tough exams that make up most of the grade. Utilize Unstuckstudy and other study tools to stay on top of the material.
This class is so boring and I found that exams were a little harder than necessary. The lectures seemed to be her literally just reading off of slides. Random case studies in class but could be made up on your own w extra work, stupid inquizative homework that did nothing, and these zaps assignments. Not the best but one of the only options.
Dr Supe is the nicest woman and it's clear that her lectures have been fine tuned to be funny and educational to the utmost degree. That being said, I was bored out of my mind in class, but she herself was never boring. I learned all the material from scratch before every midterm and did very well, so attending class is clearly not necessary
While she is a really nice professor and a person, she is so bad at preparing you for exams. No study guides, no strategies, and definitely no guidance as to how to do better on exams. The exams were unfairly challenging, going over content that we barely went over and the fact that it makes up majority of the grade is insane. I would avoid her.
Amazing made me switch into neuroscience
Dr. Supe was a great professor for PSYCH3313 and I would recommend taking any class with her! Her lectures are engaging and the class is relatively easy. There are a total of 4 exams, they're all multiple choice, and you get a full front and back cheat sheet for each exam. There are also weekly assignments which are easy and interesting as well!
