Nutrition for Health and Changing Lifestyles (summer session). This is an easy course to get an A+ in. Just study the slides. The prof (Hildahl) is helpful.
Kristin was really helpful and easy to approach. I found the lectures to be interesting and well prepared
Very good prof! So helpful and makes information easy to understand. The class is interesting because the material pertains to everyday life. Easy A.
Skipped all lectures, assignment easy, but Kristin is available for help for those who need it. Very nice woman, knows what she's talking about. I liked that you don't need a text for this class, just study the slides and the rest is gravy..
Very nice prof. She's approachable, and very clear. Even though the class is all powerpoint, she adds/emphasizes material that make class interesting and worth attending. It's a great course too!
This lady is always very well prepared for class, the material is interesting, and she makes it better with demonstrations and extra info. Take this class.
She is so nice, and makes class interesting. She puts class notes on Web CT, so it isnt a huge deal if you miss a few classes. If you study for the exams you will do well.
She made this class very interesting and clear to understand. The notes were organized and you don't need to read the text much. Just study the slides, sample questions and self-test at the end of chapters and you'll do great! A bit of memorizing but other than that tests and assignments were simple.
Provides notes...sample questions that end up being on the exams! Is always looking out for the students...trying to help. Sit in the front...she's extremely easy to look at ;-)
best prof ever! she is so helpful and you really don't need the textbook, i got an A+ w/o it
Very good prof! Has a moderate sense of humor and very practical in her lectures. Relates things to situations anyone can identify with, states what is currently going on in whatever she talks about. Don't need textbooks, her notes are sufficient and u don't even really need to attend class, ur sure to pass the course!
Kristin is AWESOME! SHe keeps you interested and encourages class participation. As long as you review your notes every day and stay on top of things you should have no issues getting a decent grade.
She is awesome! Very clear on expectations of course. Course includes, mid-term, 2 part assignment and final, all are very fair. She is very helpful and answers all questions to the best of her knowledge. Although class is not mandatory, going to class is very helpful! I would definately take one of her classes again!
She is an assit to the University of Manitoba. The lectures were insightful and continusly helped debunk common myths associated with nutrition. Although attending class was not manditory you are robbing yourself of a meaningful education. Her tests are beyond fair, strictly memorizing course that is easy and enjoyable! Take it while you still can
She is amazing. Took the course online, she was always there when I had questions. Quickly replied to my e-mails and was very clear, to the point. I give her an A +
Love her. One of the best prof's I've had at UM. She is nice, helpful and gives good lectures.
She is an amazing prof! I loved her so much :) She had very clear lectures that were easy to follow and understand. She was also very helpful if you had any questions about assignments. She gives you practice questions and they are pretty much all on the test, so make sure you write them down when she goes over them!
Has lots of really helpful review questions and emphasizes key points in lecture. Overall good class and teacher.
great prof
I took this course DE, just do the 4 assignments (not time consuming and straight forward) Final exam is fair, make sure you go over the sample questions she provides on angel because she used at least 6 of them on the final. if you do well on the assignments, the final isn't a big deal. I only needed to get 83/100 to get an A+ or 60/100 to get an
Tall, blond and good looking. Clear lectures. The material was pretty boring but she did the best she can with it. Make sure you do the assignments early as they are easy but time consuming. Exams are just memorization. Textbook is close to useless for this class. You can even borrow it from the library.
took course distance ed with this prof. She always responded to me within the a few hours and always answered questions. As for the course very easy. There a 2 assign (30%)3 discussions,(25%) and 5 quizzes(5%)i went in the exam with a 59/60.the exam is fair but i didnt study at all and finished with an A. If your lookin for a GPA boost this is it!
Extremely helpful, great course, take it DE
Took it DE. Straight forward in every way. 2 assignments that have rubrics telling you exactly what you need to write to get marks; an online midterm and quizzes that are 4 questions long (lol). Be careful though, some think they can skimp on studying for the final, but most students go in with 80+ so it's curved. Study her notes, do online q's.
This is the easiest course I have ever taken. She is a very helpful prof, responds right away. Textbook is not very necessary, only 1 question from final on it. 50% of questions on final were from previous tests and sample questions. Very straightforward notes. Background in biology and biochem helps. GPA boost!
Took it DE and this is such an easy class! There are 2 tests, 5 online discussions, and 5 quizzes. Super easy! She is such a nice prof and emails you back right away! I highly recommend this class as a gpa boost!
Took it DE. I'm taking HNSC1210 atm. Her classes are just boosters!! Easy A! :D Straight forward. She replies to the discussion forums not like any other profs that don't interact with her student.
Course is very interesting and important in today's society. Straight to the point teacher telling you the most important stuff you need to know, and course is fairly easy as long as you know your stuff. Easy assignments and exams are very fair. Overall gpa booster but a very good course.
By far the best prof I've had in my 3 years of university. She is extremely approachable and she doesn't talk to you as if your a student, more like your a friend. She posts her notes online and all of her exam questions are directly from her notes. I was very happy to have her as a professor.
Tests were a bit tricky. Very helpful and nice prof.
Easy course through distance ed. Very straight forward and she responds quick. GPA booster for sure if you study a bit.
Easy courses yet you can learn a lot. 1210 was easier than 1200. Approachable prof and quick turnaround on assignments.
Took HNSC 1210 online and it worked out great, got an A+! The material is easy to understand and the prof is very helpful and informative. Textbook use is mostly for the figures and tables but the majority of the exams are lecture notes-based.
The course is not easy, a lot of information in the course that you need to remember. However if you will do your assignments on A+ you will be fine. The professor is very nice and always has an answer for all the questions! She is willing to help and is very fare marker..
Very easy course but also very interesting. One of the few courses where you can apply what you learn to your daily life! The questions in the quizzes, midterms, and the final all come from her notes (don't buy the textbook).
No need for the textbook! Her notes are great. There was 2 midterms, 5 discussions and 5 quizzes. Incredibly easy marks if you just put in a little work :)
Absolutely love this course tho a lot of reading in the course.I would have gotten an A+ but I end up getting B cuz I have two exams ahead so I didn't study much..prof is really good, replied email right away of any question you ask..5 discussion, 3 quizzes,2 test and final exam.
Common sense class, i could have gotten an A+ but i didnt study ever so I got an A, she's super nice and this class is the best gpa booster EVER. Do not buy the textbook.
I took this course online. No textbook needed. Her notes are clear and organized. There's midterm and final, and the midterm is online. The questions in the exams are all from the notes. Pretty easy exams if you study a bit.
Kristin was helpful when questions were asked and kept the class updated with different announcements. 3 online term tests, discussions, 5 little online quizzes and a cumulative final exam. All information needed for testsexams were on the course notes on D2L - DO NOT BUY THE TEXTBOOK. Interesting & useful class, nice choice for a free elective.
Easiest A+ you will ever take. Was walking in the exam with a 100% on the course so far and the exam was worth 40% of your final grade.. I needed at least 75100 questions right on the final to get an A+ and 50100 to get an A... Soooooooo easy!!
I plan to take more courses she is teaching simply because I enjoyed her teaching style so much! Final exam was tough, but fair. I found the textbook for the course to be hard to apply because of the amount of chemistry it went into, but her course notes were fantastic and made things much clearer and applicable!
procrastination is very easy for this class. Scored perfect on all assignments, midterm was easy bcuz it was online (aka open book) and the final was harder than expected mostly because i didn't look at content until 3 days before the final exam.... still got an A in the class tho. didn't use text book at all
Honestly a straight forward prof. Was pretty impressed with the way the lectures were written online, and definitely learned valued information about my life style. By far one of the best profs I've had. No tricks, study and you'll do well.
Informative and useful class, which is a suitable elective. With a clear and concise professor.
Kristin was a great prof, and the class was easy and straight forward. Just don't put off studying to the end and you'll do great. The exam was only worth 40% and most people walked in and out with an A+.
First time taking an online course. The material isn't hard, but there is a fair amount of it to read. The exam questions are not meant to trick you; a lot of them are basic definition questions. Instructor promptly replies to discussion threads. Textbook is useful, and the notes refer to figures and tables in the textbook, so you should buy it.
First time taking an online course, it was great. HNSC 1200 is famed for being easy, problem is people don't say how much reading and content there is to memorize - a fair ton if want high grade. Thankfully the material isn't complex and is straight forward. Class has a low course load online. Lecture notes have few misspellings but you can live.
I love this prof. She tells you everything you need to do well in this course. All of her notes are posted on the first day of classes. She doesn't take a lot to respond to emails and answers all questions on UMLearn. I memorized the notes and did very well. The two textbooks helped me, too. Take this course online with this prof. ^_^
Kristin is so nice. She responds to all questions in a timely manner. Her markers were kinda sluggish and took a lot of time to mark the assignments. You need the textbook in order to get an A+ in this course. She asks questions from figures and tables in the textbook. Start studying from day 1. She provides all the notes/materials you need.
Kristin is a great prof! Course consisted of 5 quizzes, 5 discussions, 2 term tests and a final. You don't need the textbook, everything is all in her notes! Only studied 1 day before the exam as I had to study for my other difficult courses, but still managed to pull an A! She is also pretty quick at responding to questions. Strongly recommended!
Incredibly easy class. I studied the night before the exam not sure what was going to be on the exam so stuck to just the notes provided by the proff and passed with an A+
Took the class online. Never really studied for it except for the final. Super easy. Got an A with minimum studying. Notes ae posted online. They are comprehensive and really awesome. The other prof who teaches the course had awful notes. Overall amazing prof or maybe it's because the course is super chill
Awesome professor! Her exams are fair. Now don't take this class for granted and expect and easy A/A+ with a casual approach. It does require effort just like your other classes. Other than that if you memorize and understand her notes you should be fine.
I took both hnsc1200 and 1210 over summer. EXTREMELY easy courses. I did NOT study what so ever during the actual courses . The only time I studied was for the final exam, in which I briefly skimmed over the notes for each course (took around 1 hour for each course). Ended up getting an A and an A+. Textbook NOT required at all.
The best professor to take this class with. She is very kind and helpful. Her exams are very fair if you're well prepared and she is an easy marker.
Nice prof. Assignments are easy (don't need the textbook for them) but the midterm & final was ridiculous. Don't spend time studying the SLOs, she doesn't focus on main ideas. Instead she makes questions from random ass tables & facts mentioned once. I don't know about you, but I don't have the time to memorize EVERYTHING. Marks take forever too
Has amazing notes (sufficient enough to study with) You might not need the textbook, but its helpful to read once and look over figures prior to the exam (she lists important figures in notes). I actually found the exam a bit harder than the notes but, still managed with an A+
The 2 required textbooks were sold together for $122.80, U of M bookstore doesn't buy them back. The professor explicitly stated they were required. I barely read the textbook, got an A and learned nothing. Most tested material is from what's posted online. I took it online. The exam was the hardest part, even though it was all multiple choice.
Unless youre in Sciences, this class is NOT an easy A. There is LOTS of memorization. While her notes are easy to understand, its a lot of info and along with the assignments, very time-consuming. For a 1000s course, the content is so dense that it almost feels like a 2nd yr biology class.. Im also not a fan of her audios. She talks too fast.
Great course, easily able to take the information and use it in real life. Honestly chose this as an elective with no interest in it but it ties in with biology and further connects it with different health lifestyles. Great notes as well, and the textbook is needed for info on diagrams. Having a background in biology will be much easier tho.
DON'T listen to all the other reviews saying this was an "easy" course. Chances are they're all science students. If you're a non-science student looking for an elective, look the other way. I found myself focusing and stressing about this class that it took away focus from classes that actually counted for my major. Nice lady I guess.
No feedback given at all. Terrible communication. Takes a long time to respond and is curt and not detailed. Assignments and tests are vague.
Out of the two, HNSC 1200 was easier and less work than 1210. 1210 had more quizzes and I didn't enjoy the projects. Overall, an easy online course that you can add to a busy term and not do much work for the credit.
Its my first time taking a class with her. She's amazing! She responds so quickly and her notes are so simple and very easy to understand. 10 super easy quizzes, 2 assignments (they seem easy but are a lot of tedious work), and a fair midterm. I have yet to take the final. She's very helpful as well. Easy course for me so far.
This was my first class with Prof. Hildahl and I love her. The work is very easy to complete. The assigns. are tedious but I got A+ on everything. Not a hard marker, just requires effort. People say the final was hard, but I had an easy time (if you study). 100 Q's in 100 mins and I had 30 mins to spare! She is very kind & responds fast. 10/10
Lots and lots of notes. Start vigorously condensing early. Everyone says this class is easy, but there is still a lot to learn and do. Had 10 small quizzes, two assignments, midterm and final. Didn't interact much with Kristin since I took it distance, but she responds to emails quickly, graded fairly, and is clear with requirements.
Great professor. Has been very helpful with answering questions and keeping assignments as straight forward as possible. Wants students to succeed and is a very good marker. Havent had the final yet but her exams are worth a lot - so far all her questions seem fair. Highly recommend.
Took this during the summer 2020 when I was working full time which involved traveling to various remote locations (some places had no WIFI). I was able to get an A since I would plan ahead and completed all of the required work. Tests are typically done on weekends (and you have most of the day to do it). Hand in the work and you will be fine.
Took in the Fall 2020, slightly more effort is needed than in HNSC1200 since this course has 2 long assignments. But they are easy to complete. The textbook is necessary in order to complete the first assignment, then you don't need it. You will need to purchase an online program subscription for the second assignment. Overall it's a great course.
Super interesting course. fair bit of reading but it's all pretty straight forward and mostly common sense. Quizzes are easy, assignments are easy, exams are more than fair (with the proper work put in). Can't really rate Kristin because I've never actually seen or talked to her as it was all online, but its definitely a solid choice GPA booster!
This class is a notorious GPA booster and Kristin definitely treats it as such. The material is very simple and discussions + group projects are both easy high grades as she is not a difficult marker. Although sometimes the notes were poorly worded (it seemed like they never proof-read them) the material was easy enough that it didn't matter.
Took this as a DE course. I'd say its an Easy A/A+ if you put in the usual effort. Doesn't use textbooks; the notes she posts online have a lot of videos and links which she does test on but one gets used to them. Sometimes, the quizzes and exams had really specific questions so make sure to study the notes well if you want that GPA boost
Professor Hildahl-Shawn provides all the course material during the beginning of the term which allows students to study on their own pace and time. The content is not relatively difficult and as long as you spend the time to go through the course notes and watch the supplementary videos, you should be able to cruise through the course.
I took HNSC 1200 and 1210 with Kristin as distance courses. The few interactions I had with her were very pleasant and she quickly answered any questions I had by email or the class discussion tab. 1200 had no textbook (only course notes) but 1210 had both a textbook and course notes. They are both easy A/A+ courses if you put in moderate effort!
6 units to go through, lots of readings and videos to watch. There is lots to take notes of and she doesnt provide a study guide so you must know everything (including exact numbers, percentages, exact facts). And take notes during the videos because she will ask pointless questions from there! Good gpa booster tho. Quizzes and exams all MC.
She is amazing at responding to questions, has predictable assessments, and if you put in the time, it is an easy A.
She is very nice and helpful. The course itself has a lot of reading and videos, so make sure you go through everything and you'll do well. Her guildlines and marking are very clear and if you need help outisde of class you can always email her. As long as you read all the notes you'll get an A+. Course material is not hard
She's quick to respond to emails and the material's interesting if you spend the time on it. Definitely don't take this course a for granted A+ because it is not. Makes you work for it. I recommend making your notes from her course notes on UM Learn and using the figures in the book to inform your learning.
It was online so I didn't see her once. A or A+ for sure if you just do the readings and make detailed notes. It's a matter of attention to detail. Minimum effort too. probably spent 5hours on it every second week. Just keep compiling your notes through the units till the final.
I took her class HNSC 1210 this winter term, and I would like to say that she never disappointed me. Her marking for the assignments were very fair, quizzes were easy, exam was very easy. She answers to emails very quickly and is very understanding. I recommend taking a class with this prof!
This is a known GPA booster that I'd recommend. I found it to be more interesting than HNSC 1200 which is also taught by Kristin so I would recommend this. Assignments were easy to complete, lecture material was long but interesting and well organized. Dr. Hildahl provides a weekly schedule which makes the course very easy to stay on top of.
Her HNSC 1200 course is extremely easy as all the assignments, quizzes, and exams are straight-forward. You do not have to put much time into the course as it is mostly just remembering the notes and applying them for the week's quiz and exam.
Her course consists of lots of reading which makes sense since HNSC1210 is a distance ed course. She is fair, reasonable, and helpful. Nothing really negative about her. Put in the time, and you'll succeed in the course.
Amazing prof
Had her for HNSC 1200 online. She responds quickly to emails and is very helpful! do the required work and you will do well, I recommend this prof she's great.
Best class ever
Thought this course would be easy, but its actually not and you sort of need to know the stuff to do well...
Kristin is a great professor and is very easy to reach! This class is an easy A if you apply yourself. Definitely recommend as a GPA booster!!
Does not respond to emails. Assignments are formatted with difficult and unclear instructions.
Class is fairly easy to work ahead on and material is easy to understand. Tests and quizzes have very limited time but are simple and course related.
The professor is really nice as she gets back to inquiries and has grades back promptly. The tests are quite challenging as its a lot of applying concepts which feels like doing backflips if you do not come in with a prior science background to help guide you- so over prep. Assignments are 80% easier than the tests just time consuming.
Easy course with straightforward assessments. Minimal effort needed - just stay on top of the material and you're set. Unstuckstudy is a helpful study tool alongside the readings.
The course is structured horribly, not a good "easy" GPA booster especially if you haven't taken chem or bio before. If you can do this class in person the course is structured a bit differently and should be better then with this prof.
Many mistakes in course materials
