Mrs Wilson is awesome. Her class is as fun as a science class gets for me, its pretty easy (tons of oppurtunitys for extra credit and 1 page of notes for the tests) and she has great enthusiasm for teaching. Plus she is very pretty and cant be more then 30..too bad shes married :(
Lectures and reading materials consist of horrendous political extremism. Extra credit is to see the VP candidate of the US Communist Party. You'll learn homosexual child ****iation or starving infants to death is fine for other cultures but our judgement of these other cultures is the only evil. This class is the embarrasing armit of academia.
I just started her class... but she comes to class with so much energy andloves what she teaches...
She's so much fun.. I was actually bummed out that class was cancelled yesturday because she was sick
i found that even though she was enthusiastic and very knowledgeable, she was very difficult to approach. she gave the most uncomfortable and time consuming ASSignments, and i ended up failing the class because i just couldnt do it. anthropology is my majo
Kristin has more energy than the rest of the Anthropology department put together. Her classes are always packed to the max and she makes it all seem so interesting. She's cute too.
She is very nice and loves the subject. Her class is very biased and uncomfortable. Her stories are interesting and fun to hear but some things will make your stomach churn. It is one thing to study different cultures, it is another thing to praise certain cruelty and abuse just because "Americans" think it's abuse. Easy but would not recommend.
Kristin is totally chill. She has a big smile that brighten up the classroom. We're supposed to have a final but instead she allowed us to turn in articles and questions/points on our readings. We had to write 2 papers (8-10pg), read some articles, and "read" 3 books. Overall, pretty easy if you take your notes.
Kristin is a great teacher. I learned alot, the class moves fast but she does a great job teaching the material. Her class is fun, and accomodates different types of learners. I stronlgy recommend this teacher.
Cares about students and wants everyone to succeed. She makes us think but expects everyone to make up their own minds on controversial topic..
Awesome teacher, very clear, and fun! She really got me interested in Anthro, and she has good tests that aren't surprising.
great teacher, lots of knowledge and candy :)
Kristin is a wonderful teacher. She is creative and full of energy. She has a lot of experience in her field and doesn't hesitate to share her personal stories with the class. She makes her students feel comfortable and doesn't take anything TOO seriously. I would highly recommend her.
Great teacher, she's in my top 5 best profs ever. Very knowledgable and enthusiastic about the material, has some great stories to tell about her work in the field, and she seems to enjoy teaching. Very personable, laid-back but not -too- mellow. Her class was such a good experience she almost got me to change my major.
Very nice teacher. She's very enthusiastic. Very entertaining. Its obvious she loves what she does. The fact that she shared her personal stories gave a more community feeling to the class. She was very open and approachable. I do recomend taking anatomy before this class. It was a little hard to follow the terms and the text book is lame.
Kristin is an amazing teacher. She is very energetic and enthusiastic. She is incredibly knowledgable, a total hottie, and a lot of fun to listen to. Best. Teacher. Ever.
I really liked this class. It's a lot of work, but if you pay attention and do the assignments, your good to go. Kristin is an awesome teacher and she does everything she can to make the class interesting. She showed a few films, but they were actually good!!!
Easy class. Great teacher; very enthusiastic. She's smokin' hot. That helps too.
Kristin is a great teacher. She is very animated and explains things in ways that not only make the topics understandable, but completely engage you. If you take good notes, you will do really well in her class.
excellent teacher, very clear and motivated
I agree, she is very enthusiastic and will act like a fool in front of class to teach, which is a great thing. Her quizzes are great..she always allows everyone to know when everything is due with the online website. But, her tests are crazy.they cover things that weren't even covered in class.and there's little explanation of some assignments.
The structure is one of a fifth grade class. She includes many group activities, projects, and presentations. She was very biased, & prejudice toward her students & used many stereotypes. She grades unfairly & most of the work was unnecessary & not helpful. I learned more from the articles than I did from her. The class was uncomfortable.
She's so easy. All her lectures are on powerpoint so it's easy to take notes. The quizzes are online so they are open book. You get a double-sided page of notes on all tests. It's an easy A but you learn a lot. She's very biased towards evolution and against creationism. But overall, she's a good teacher. I would definitely recommend her.
Dr. Wilson is awesome! Her lectures are fun and powerpoint based so its easy to take notes. All the quizzes are online and relate directly to the textbook. She's a little unclear about specific assignment due dates, but if you follow the syllabus you won't get too far off track.
Good teacher. Southern accent but really smart and likes what she does. She teaches physical, cultural, and forensic anth and has a PhD. Good teacher and not a hard class. 4 tests all open note with 2 page essays. She does cool stuff other than essays too. Good class.
Very funny and entertaing teacher. You can tell she really likes to teach. Tests are a little difficult but you get a double-sided cheat sheet. Make sure to pay attention to the lectures, a lot of information is not on the powerpoint, but she definently makes it fun.
Wilson is a very good teacher. She has a good personality and keeps you interested in the class. Her tests are pretty easy and there's no textbook for the class! It's only a few online articles which are pretty easy to read. Overall, take her if you want an easy fun class.
Lectures are really engaging. She uses many teaching styles. She consistently doesn't prepare her computer or projector and leaves the class waiting while she fiddles with electronics. Her assignments are unclear and don't include revision or opportunities to learn from assignments, they just test knowledge. Tests have material that is not covered.
Kristen is an amazing teacher. she has kept me focused on my goal to be a forensic anthropologist. Her A.D.D. like demeanor keeps the class entertained and its never boring. I love coming to class every week. She may seem like a hard ass but maybe thats what some students need. Anyone who has negative comments probably failed or got caught cheating
Kristin's Cultural Anthropology class provides you with a rudimentary understanding of the material, that's about all. The lectures aren't super in depth or insightful but they get the job done. She doesn't like stupid questions (you can see the disgust go across her face) and for that I commend her. Pretty easy class, just do the work.
I took forensic anthropology with her and loved it. She comes to every class with a sense a humor, happy, and a seriousness for the subject. I totally recommend her. She runs her class with a great deal of respect towards her students and expects the same returned. Her test are open notes and I found them easy but others didnt. She made my semester
Great instructor. She is very helpful and gives lots of examples. She connects with the students, and although there is a lot of lecture, we also do group work to get us more involved. You can tell she has a passion for her teachings, and she really knows her stuff. Exams are easy if you do the reading, and you get a "cheat sheet"!
awesome teacher.really knows her stuff in the world of human sciences.kristin really listens to you and makes it easy for you to understand that.totally cool and engaged person.her methods are good, she uses text, articles, powerpoint, and online.ur in good hands here with an anthropologist.
I took forensic anthro with this teacher. Crystal clear on what she wants. Very engaging teacher, never bored once. Although material was difficult to understand did well in class anyway because I completed all assignments on time
I believed we would learn about other cultures, but it became more about social and economic class issues. She was incredibly disorganized and made very odd assumptions about the students while using them as examples for the material. I often felt that her facts were a bit dramatized, too. I hear her other classes are better, though.
Disorganized, horrible time management. Doesn't make the majority of the goals she sets for the class. Late handing back assignments, posting homework and quizzes. And her clock is slow.
Kristin Wilson is awesome. I took Anthro 1 and 2 with her and enjoyed them both to the point where I was actually excited to go to class. I will most likely try to take forensics with her next semester. Highly recommended.
Kristin is a good instructor. I found her demeanor humorous and she explained the core concepts clearly. The tests are fair and there were chances for extra credit. There is no textbook (always good) It's hard not to get an A if you do what you're supposed to. Very much recommended.
She's awesome! I loved her class so much. She's a great teacher and makes the class fun! And this is coming form someone who is not a fan of science classes.
Wonderful Professor. Engaging, Intelligent, Genuine.
Nice and knowledgable professor. She was a little disorganized and spent too much time taking students' off topic questions. No book just articles she posts online. The last test on hominids was extremely unclear. She told us to get info from Wikipedia and conflicting online sources. Then graded us on it. Next time, tell students nec info exactly.
Stay Away!! She is the most unorganized teacher I have ever had. She is also the most abrasive and unprofessional teacher I have ever had. She makes for an extremely uncomfortable learning situation. She calls people out and makes you feel dumb if you say or do anything wrong. Every day is a guessing game in her class. i hated it.
Dr. Wilson makes class exciting and fun. The topics are so relatable and relevant to your life that it is hard to not be interested in this class. Easy honors class, No textbook. You have to read an article every week or so, and you get a page front and back to write whatever you want on the exams, which are multiple choice :) Favorite class ever!
Amazing teacher, super engaging and funny, made every class very fun and enjoyable while still informational. Super easy as well.
Very enthusiastic, I liked the lectures and she has lots of interesting things to talk about. However she is very disorganized, there are surprise questions on the tests and she usually admits that a few are not correct if you talk to her about the questions.
I was very excited to take this class, she took that excitement and destroyed it, she was horribly disorganized, didn't turn most assignments back, let alone even grade them so you knew what you did wrong, and was absent for 5+ classes, she was unclear about what she wanted and made the class awful. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!
This class is essentially the same whether its honors or not, which is required by the state. Kristin is awesome she keeps it very light and humorous. The work load is pretty minimal, most instruction is based on lecture as opposed to reading and assigned readings are short. You def learn a lot tho. Test are multiple choice + 1 take home question.
BOSS TEACHER. She considers your situation and acknowlegdes effort for sure. Super Nice and Cooperative!!! Funny aswell DEFINITELY WORTH TAKING!!!! LOVER HER!!!!
Kristin is an awesome teacher. She made class very interesting as well as grades fair. I highly recommend taking her class.
Each student had to do a presentation, and these were spread throughout the semester so that one was at the beginning of almost each class. I felt like Kristin spent too much time on these, and things like videos and little group activities, and she hardly ever taught. She seemed nice and funny, but I didn't learn that much.
Kristin is hilarious and easy going. Her lectures and grading criteria are clear. You do two book reports, but if you are interested in the class it will not be hard for you.
Kristin make everything interesting. She's funny and is clear about what you need to do. No textbook is required, just a few articles. She gives four exams (including the final) and some really easy online quizzes based on the articles. Her lectures go by fast and the subject matter is interesting. Oh, and she lets you use cheat sheets!
I am a very good student, but her teaching style did not jive with me. Her lectures are scattered, the way she writes her exams is confusing (some answers don't match up with the Qs-- she adds extra points to exams BECAUSE SHE KNOWS THIS), and there was always some content on the test that she did not go over. Would not recommend.
Kristin is probably one of the most fun professors I've had. She's hilarious and she makes class engaging and interesting. I highly recommend taking her. The exams are rather difficult, but she lets you have a page of notes and the online quizzes are super easy.
She is great! She is all over the place, a bit disorganized. But her info is gold! What I like about her the best is, she is understanding. If missed a few classes and assignments though no fault of my own. And she was more than helpful.
I was worried I would not get a good grade in her class because I did so poorly on the first exam. I was able to pull my grade up to an A by doing ALL the extra credit assignments (she gives a lot of extra credit). The class got more interesting towards the end of the semester. Although Kristin is a little scattered, she's a great teacher.
Kristin is a great teacher and has is an inspiration. She's hilarious and shares great stories about when she worked as a forensic anthro. Her projects are fun, her lectures are awesome. I would take her again
Wilson is intelligent, interesting and has great style. She is by far my favorite teacher at this school. Her lectures are engaging and clear. No textbook, No essays, but lots of readings that she posts online along with short follow-up quizes. You can bring in a page of notes to the test and she cares more about comprehension than memorization.
Kristen is amazing at what she does. Her lectures are fun and interesting and the work load is not heavy at all. Tough grader and tough tests but she allows you to use a page of notes on her exams.
Amazing class! She is so much fun and funny that you won't want to miss class. The information can be hard but she offers good resources. I love how she finds ways to make difficult information fun and interesting. You will have to set aside a good chunk of time to study for the tests and homework.
Wilson seems to be the outgoing type that everyone likes, she does make her lectures entertaining. She is scattered in lectures and her tests are almost incoherent. The worst part about her ANTH1 class is the sheer amount of menial work she forces you to do. No wonder there's so much extra credit, she can't keep the course organized for anything.
Dr. Wilson's lectures were some of the best! She's extremely bubbly, entertaining, and does an excellent job making her lectures engaging and creative. I will say I struggled with her tests very much, but I would still take another one of her classes in a heartbeat; highly recommend!!
she gives really good lectures and if you miss a lecture they are also posted online! She would give amazing examples which would make it easy for me to remember things. Quizzes are online which is good. Minimal about of reading. TONS of extra credit & lets us use a cheat sheet during tests. Would take again
She's very passionate about her teaching, however, make sure you're on her good side.
Dr. Wilson is my favorite professor I've had at Cabrillo, I even considered changing my major because of her! She does not give a ton of assignments, however what she does give is very interactive and does not feel excessive. She gives great lectures, with clear slides, and understands that not everyone taking her class is the most science minded.
Dr. Wilson is the best professor I've had! She gives engaging and informative lectures and the homework is minimal and doable. The exams can be challenging, but she allows a page of notes and gives a lot of extra credit opportunities. Show up to class, do the quizzes, and take good notes. Easy class to pass!
The one thing that struck me the most was how passionate she is about the subject matter. Her enthusiasm really helps draw you in and make your care about the class. Manageable amount of homework, but make sure you do the Canvas quizzes on time! Super chill and funny.
The class is super interesting! She has many stories about working in the field and knows a lot of information that she is open to give you. She doesn't like the idea of her students reading a dry textbook she doesn't use all that much, so she supplies online pdfs, videos, or links to sites. There are two book reports and 1 semester project.
When I took this course it was during the Covid19 pandemic, so our class was transferred to an online class, so my class was unusually hectic, but overall the class is pretty interesting. Kristin tends to get scatterbrained, so the work may be a little complicated to make out and during class she goes on tangents, but you know what you are learning
Professor Wilson was a great teacher, her lectures were understandable and it is important to take notes in her class. Class was interesting and you learn a lot from her class. She was a positive person and gave clear instructions.
I had Dr. Wilson in person, and then switched to online after COVID. She was very understanding given the current situation and was very lenient with grading towards the end of the semester. She has clear expectations about what work to complete and participation definitely matters. Show her you care and she will return the favor with good grades!
If you wanna take gender studies shes your go to prof because you wont be taking anthropology youll be taking gender studies
Kristin not only sends out petty, passive-aggressive messages through canvas alerting the whole class about when she's gracing us with extra credit because we've all done horribly on an assignment, but she does so without having graded said assignment. Her teaching style is "here, read five articles and then take a test because I get paid anyways."
I would not recommend taking this course unless absolutely necessary, her teaching style is terrible and will give numerous articles and readings that you must read for the quizzes and exams, and most of the time it is very unhelpful. She is a very picky grader and is not specific at all in what she is looking for in her written exams.
Professor Wilson gives you lots of reading for upcoming tests but then most of the times what you read is not on the test. She was rude and passive aggressive and didn't really care for her students. If she assumes you have done something wrong she won't let you explain and will automatically fail you. If you need the class for credit take another.
The information taken in is plenty, definitely set aside a few hours per week to go over the modules, but each module would have a set time of about two weeks to complete. Prof. Wilson was constantly checking in, offering extra credit and quick to respond to any questions throughout the weekdays. Take this class if you're willing to participate
Flipped classroom module, all readings and lectures done at home. You practically teach yourself the material and then are expected to fully understand it when you attend class. Assigns 2 hour long movies we are required to watch as well. Overall just a lot of take home work and not a fun style of learning.
I adored Kristin! I didnt realized how accomplished she was at first, but felt so lucky to have someone as well versed in the field. Shes very knowledgeable and prepared for any questions. Beyond that, shes very engaging, good at simplifying confusing points, and shes so funny! I really enjoyed her class.
Kristin Wilson was a wonderful teacher. I took her for Anthro 1 . I Iearned so much in her class. She was very caring. You will have to do homework, and participate in discussions. Highly recommend her class you will love it.
Took her SOC Gender and Science class, and it was PHENOMENAL. Such fascinating articles/ readings are assigned that truly change your world perception. She cares a lot about her students, and talking to her throughout the year is helpful if you fall behind like I did. Lots of reading, but I liked the readings so I didn't mind lol.
Very nice person and I found her lectures to be interesting and informative. She does like to call on people randomly which some may find nerve wracking but I didn't mind it. For inperson classes she will call you out for talking or using your phone.
Not sure why professor Wilson has so many bad reviews but I've take Gender and Science with her and I'm currently taking Anthr1. She assigns a fair amount of reading that you're supposed to do before class which is helpful in understanding the lectures. She grades on completion and is mainly concerned with you learning and doesn't care about grades
Kristin Wilson is a very kind and good teacher. I took her class online and thought it was formatted nicely. There were the readings and then an option of her narrating the readings if you wanted. The tests were very long, but there was no time limit (except for the due date). She assigned some very interesting documentaries to watch as well.
(I took her SOC48 class, but that wasn't an option in course selections for this site) As a queer student, Kristin made me feel very safe in her classroom. The class was also very informative and interesting overall. The projects were kind of tedious and repetitive sometimes, though, and the grading was ALLL over the place.
Great professor that is very knowledgeable and passionate about her work. She has amazing lectures that are very engaging and she never makes you feel like you are wasting time in class. I was inspired to become an anthro major after taking her class.
Considering the assignments, she's not the best at grading and giving feedback, especially for written assignments. Almost all exams are multiple choice quizzes, and the one that wasn't wasn't graded. She seems passionate and has good intentions, but without the in-person lectures, I think she was far too out of her element for this.
Seems passionate about her work and I commend her for that, that's about all I liked, the actual class subject was interesting, but the way the work was presented and the way the exams were given were incredibly unrewarding, multiple choice is fine, but the video you have to submit is just plain awful. She also is not the most tech savvy person.
Not the most tech-savvy, which is why I think we grade ourselves b/c Canvas isn't great with managing/calculating EC opportunities, so whatever it says isn't accurate. Very passionate about what she teaches, and breaks concepts down easily. Easy to reach. 5 exams or 4 + Bonus Assessment. Mostly MCQ + video as last part. Grades on completion mainly.
Absolutely wonderful teacher that knows a LOT about what she is teaching as well as being super passionate! Super open to helping out her students who need and NEVER turns down a question even if it's off topic! which made me feel safe to ask about anything! This was one of the best classes I've taken!
Dr. W gave informative/entertaining lectures, and I learned a lot about Biological Anthro from her class. Attendance/participation is crucial to getting a good grade, and Dr. W calls out (sometimes to the point of public shaming) anyone not paying attention. The class is self-graded, so as long as you show up/complete assignments, you'll get an A
Prof Wilson is awesome she really strives to keep her class engaged and make it a fun safe space. Be on time....lots of group work/ group tests/exams (so sit with people you like) And self graded.
