Gives late passes for assignments and drops lowest grade for homework/quiz. It was very fast paced doing this class over summer so be prepared w/ all the assignments. What I found to be very odd was that she doesnt really teach the class, its her husband in the videos teaching. Also watch out for the projects, some questions are not gone over.
The whole class was not taught by the instructor but by her husband who does not go over half of the material that is on the projects and the projects are weighted hevy on your grade. her husband when he lectures talks WWAAAYYYY to fast and makes alot of mistakes and uses methods that take the long way around trying to figure a problem out.
Lecture could have been slowerer moved to fast
My course was only 8 weeks so it was a bit fast paced and had homework around 4 or 5 days of the week. You have the opportunity to get ahead with the assignments. It was very manageable. She replies to emails quickly and is fast at grading.
Pretty straightforward for an online class and if you do all the work you will most likely pass the class. I liked how she responds to emails and is very helpful. I also liked the lectures and the PowerPoints. Theres homework everyday but pretty understandable since its an 8 week class.
The lectures were very fast, some times hard to keep up with.
This class was a struggle for me and I needed to put a lot of work into it to get a good grade. And I felt like everything was readily available for an online class and the teacher was there to answer questions if needed.
There were some problems where I was confused but overall I was able to get some feedback. Although I would like a step by step process.
Very test heavy course, some of the video lectures don't cover all the material and you are forced to go through the power points that are provided, which to me is not a good thing to have happen.
Helpful.
Great teacher, great personality highly recommended !
lot of homework but it is good practice. i would recommend taking any math course in the fall and not the summer because of the amount of time with each assignment
i would recommend taking this course over the fall because of the time limit for each assignment
Be more specific when delivering expectations regarding homework and math methods.
Very good teacher!
Goes in depth and makes sure you understand concepts. Excellent teaching style
Straightforward and gives you late passes you can use if you don't turn in an online assignment on time so you can ask questions the next day after it is due
Theres a lot of homework, but thats alright its mostly pretty easy stuff. pretty in depth lectures, even on stuff the whole class gets, takes time to go into the lesson and stuff so my group and i finished the notes with 30 minutes left in class. no surprises really, what you see in he syllabus is what you get.
This class was great! I had a great semester with her and learned my way out of the areas I had difficulty on. Very great lectures and explains everything in such an amazing detail. Would love take her class again!
Kristina Burch does not seem to fully understand the material she teaches. She relies far too much on online resources and majority of work (including lectures) are done online outside of class. When asked to rework homework problems, she often looks confused and has to check her notes before she begins. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND FOR HIGH LEVEL CLASSES!
she is a very good instructor and makes sure that you completely understand all of the material. she is always there to help which is what I appreciate the most.
Was very accessible during office hours. Communicative of due dates. Spends a lot of time reviewing previous nights homework. Video note modules are confusing at times but she gives clarity during lecture
This was by far my most favorite math teacher. Both her and her husband teach college level math. You can tell they are both very passionate about what they do. Everything is explained very well. She's available to answer questions. She's fun. Has a lot of personality and goes out of her way to make the material more interesting.

I believe my instructor was amazing, She taught me everything I thought I couldn't understand in such a short amount of time. I would love to have her as a professor again.
I wished that the class videos were more closely related to the homework. I struggled with some of the homework because the information was not covered in the video.
I was skeptical taking this hybrid course. Video lectures/notes provided give you a clear understanding of the material to complete the hw & quizzes. Unless lazy its IMPOSSIBLE not to achieve 100% on quizzes & hw. Gives plenty of time & hw passes to extend time. Projects are intense & unrealistic. Midterm/Final is 30% of grade.<- Needs to change!
Very good, well rounded professor. clearly lays out objectives and gives you the tools to do all the coursework. Gives late passes for homework and quizzes which is very generous.
Mrs. Burch is a good teacher who is really passionate about math. She really cares about your success and wants you to pass. She has been able to help me whenever i've had a question about something whether during class or in her office hours. The projects are really intense, but they are doable with hard work.
I would recommend her to other students. She speaks words that I could understand.
Good teacher, she really has a passion for math and explains everything down to the last detail if you ask her to.
Missed plenty and got not extra help outside of class.
LOTS OF HOMEWORKRESPECTEDAMAZING LECTURES This was by far my most favorite math teacher. Both her and her husband teach college level math. You can tell they are both very passionate about what they do. Everything is explained very well. She's available to answer questions. She's fun. Has a lot of personality and goes out of her way to make the mat
CLEAR GRADING CRITERIAGRADED BY FEW THINGS Very good, well rounded professor. clearly lays out objectives and gives you the tools to do all the coursework. Gives late passes for homework and quizzes which is very generous.
Mrs. Burch is a nice teacher who does a lot of explaining and is willing to go over material to see her students succeed, however, I didn't like the idea that when completing assignments like reviews and homework, we have to get above an 80%-90% to get any credit. It was not a fun environment either, it was always lectures and silence.
Great teacher, really funny and gives great lessons.
Mrs. Burch is a teacher that you can be confident put a TON of time into her lectures. Just that preparation alone deserves the same of amount of dedication to the class. Just do not miss class, you will get lost very quickly if one is not there for the lecture.
I really enjoyed this class. Mrs. Burch was very thorough in explaining what you have to do to earn a good grade in her class. She was available for questions, gives great explanations, and keeps explaining until you understand. It was by far my favorite math class ever. She's very friendly and you can tell that she loves math and teaching.
Way too much online work and not enough in class explanation.
Math has always been hard for me. She explained things to make sense. But if you miss class, then you probably won't understand anything the next day. She's pretty cool too.
She gives you the information you need to pass. I like the way she does everything (notes, homework, exams) you always have plenty time to finish assignments.
Professor Burch helped me understand math in a way no other teacher has before. The lectures will be online via youtube links, and then once you get to class she will teach the same lesson from the lecture the night before so its like you learn the lessons twice. She is an awesome professor!
Too much homework to do after every topic and too much homework to do just before the exam. you have to do 50 questions online 2 points for each question and you have just one attempt. with the homework online, you have to get up to 90. that is so not cool. I work a 12 hours shift and got 89 but I was given 0 because I did not reach 90. not cool
very thorough lectures, loved it.
Mrs. Burch is so awesome and nice! however the projects she makes us do are so difficult! There is also a lot of homework and each day we have to turn in notes from lecture. overall good class
She does have an attendance policy of 2 strikes.
Lots of notes and projects
I was leery of using the videos for learning. It felt like a hybrid class, and I generally don't like those as much as in-person lectures. But I think the requirement to fill in the notes did help. She was good about answering questions in class and through the messaging service in MOER.
The one thing that i really like about this class and the teacher is that lectures and homework that we are given is very clear and easy to understand.
So the amount was spaced out well until the last week with two projects, quiz and final where everything else was fair. A lot of work but they were fair.
Im happy with my teacher, shes funny and smart.
Her class is alright. Just make sure to do notes ahead of time and always check what is due every day.
She uses the time class very efficiently and answers all our questions; but, she miscalculated the time we need to use for homework. I had to steal time from other classes. I really had been enjoying the process of learning more and more for future applications in real life.
Since everything is online, answers can be a hit or miss if you make a mistake while filling in the boxes. Projects are difficult, but if you manage your time they are not that hard. Quizzes and homework have an unlimited amount of attempts to get them correct. Finals are taken on campus.
The online lessons were not always the best. Especially the final chapter. I kind of understood the explanation in class but would have liked more time on it to truly understand it.
The class is pretty easy if you watch videos and do homework. The test can be a bit complicated but overall its a pretty easy class.
Easy class
she was a great teacher
She was a great professor
Your responsibilities are very plainly laid out and it is easy to succeed in the course. You do need to go to class because she makes you sign in and out, but the course I took was two days a week, so that's fine. Watch out for the projects, that's where I lost the most points, but just do the homework and notes and you'll pass, no problem.
Easy class! Took it online. I was able to understand this class better than any other math class I have taken in a classroom. Make sure you give yourself extra time for your projects, they can lower your grade significantly if you don't do well on them. Great communication! Over all I would recommend this class.
Great class! The grading was tough but fair because the teacher gave clear instructions. The late passes were amazing! It was nice to see a teacher understanding some people have kids, a full time job, and full time student so the late passes come in handy.
you will need to study hard for the test because the test isn't easy at all.
Good class! The only negative thing is the videos go to fast.
She is a good teacher in terms that she knows what she is talking about and how to run a class, but her lectures can get confusing at times, and I usually end up learning the material myself outside of class. This may only be for my personal learning preference, though. One homework assignment for every class you attend, so be prepared for that.
Everything is EASILY laid out. You do your work, you will pass with an A. She always responds to messages when being asked for help. This class is organized and you literally just need to do your work and you will finish with an A!
Professor Burch is very helpful because she explains the math problems very well that makes it easy to understand. Also, professor Burch is always available after class if you need help with a certain math problem and she always responses really fast when I sent her a message through MOER.
Lectures made on her youtube are very helpful when doing your homework. She does grade heavy on midterm exam. Overall, very organized and responds to any questions you might have.
Great teacher! Very understanding and nice. The class itself was pretty easy you just have to keep up with the homework. Has a video at the beginning of each homework assignment and a powerpoint with extra examples. The videos are very clear and straight forward. Would definitely take her again!
Homework has to be done up to 90% or no credit, the projects can get a little difficult if you dont know the material
Online course w/video lecture. READ the powerpoints. I thought they were just a review of the lecture but they are not. They pp are really helpful. THere are 6 projects to do, when you finish a section, do that part of the project. You can save and return but only submit 1x! Very responsive to emails.
Teacher did a good job overall explaining the material, although it is sometimes confusing since someone else explains the youtube videos she puts to fill out the notes. Projects are difficult at times, but it can be done.
I took the online course. The videos were very well done. Any time I had a question and messaged Kristina Burch, she responded in a very timely fashion with great instruction.
good teacher , too many projects. annoying voice in youtube videos
I liked her class even though it was hard.
This course requires a lot of note taking and homework. Overall the class is easy to pass.
She uses moer and has everything on a calendar so you know exactly when things are do which is great and very helpful. She also has uses class time to better help you because you already come to class with the notes filled out to use class time to practice homework problems to help you succeed on homework. 3-4 absents accepted before dropped.
Would definitely choose her again as my professor if I were to take more math courses.
Would definitely have her as a professor again if I took more math courses.
The lessons were very easy and it was easy to get ahead in class.
Great teacher who wants the best for her students.
Professor Kristina Burch is a great teacher and she is also caring, and she explains how to do the problems really well and if you have questions and you are confused she would be happy to help you.
She good teacher
Professor Burch uses MOER for assignments, all of which are available to work ahead on. Provided plenty of late passes when needed, if you needed help she was always available and ready to respond. "Difficult" examples in the lesson would have been appreciated, at times I felt lost when completing quiz and found myself looking for help on internet.
Amazing teacher who is willing to help her student achieve their goal.
This was a good class. Some of the assignments were difficult, but she was always willing to help. She's always available and helpful and she made sure that the material was understood.
well, she's fine but not the best teacher for me
Professor Kristina Burch, will walk you step by step when a problem is difficult to comprehend. She will teach you your way out till you clearly understand it. Very Helpful & her lectures are great.
Im glad i took this class
Great Class, Easy if you pay attention and overall explains the problems very well.
Super fun class. Some assignments can be difficult but teacher provides great support and guidance.
Grading criteria is clear but a lot of paper work
Making homework 90% mandatory grade, quizzes 80% and not giving credit on notes if you miss class does not help matters.
If you are a person that sucks at math then this class will be for you. This teacher may talk a lot at times but her explanations are very clear and straightforward. just be careful, because you may understand it at first but she tries to over explain it at times and confuses people. Overall, easy class. A lot of hw tho.
Very good teach. Easy to learn material.
Hard grader, videos at how she teaches and I feel like she should do PowerPoints for her next class and show how to do the problem point by point for example, before we take a test and she gives us the cheat sheet and the cheat sheet shows how to do the project problem, well I think that would be very helpful instead of watching the whole video.
The exams make up the majority of your final grade so if you do not get As on the exams, it is very hard to get an A in the class. All of the learning is done through online videos on your own time and she never came to class before an exam and would send a sub instead.
He was good
She was a great professor. The lectures were very good and easy to understand.
She was a good instructor. The lectures were good.
As much as I liked the class and the professor. I would have appreciated getting Homework that matched the video lessons. there was way too many times that I had to seek help from the Professor or others to get thru the homework. Not enough practice options (that have correct answers available). I did really love that there was extra credit
Not a bad professor by any means, but you have to take the initiative and visit her during office hours. Also, be prepared to do ALOT of homework every week.
Notes lessons , homework, review online.
Well, the grading for quizzes is basically that if you don't get an 80% you wont get credit, and for the homework you have to get a 90% to get credit. This class is HEAVY, HEAVY, HEAVY, on tests. They account for 70% of your grade so basically if u just pass your tests you don't have to do anything else to pass. There is a lot of homework Get ready
Prof Burch is an excellent teacher. She is very capable in dealing with all levels of prior (or lack thereof) math knowledge.
Prof Burch is a great teacher. She is very capable of dealing with all levels of prior (or lack thereof) student math knowledge.
I really like this professor. She is nice and wrote back to me as soon as she could whenever I had any questions or concerns. I definitely recommend her to anyone taking this class. I've always struggled in math and she taught the lessons in a way where I understood so much better than I have with any other teacher in the past.
Professor Burch is always attentive and helps when ever you need it. She is great with communicating with students even though i took her online class. She is great highly recommended.
Prof Burch is a great teacher. But it's hard to get a good grade in her class.
I took her course online and Prof Burch was great at answering all of my questions and providing the help I needed to pass grasp the material. The course work was taught in a way that made it easy to understand. I found that there was a lot of homework in the course but as long as I kept up and worked hard I succeeded.
she was very easy to reach and always helpful. did not like how the examples given before the homework were easier and sometimes seemed to be nothing like the actual homework.
Tough on grading.
I took this class online with Professor Burch. Professor Burch genuinely cares about her students and their well being. There were times when I was unable to complete things on time and she granted me an extension just for being honest with her. She is thorough in her teaching & uses geek references to keep you interested. Shes great.
Overall, professor Burch was a fine teacher. I received pretty good grades throughout the course of the semester. I would like to say however that this professor loves homework and additional online lecture. Strange that I took a class worth 3 credit hours and ended up with basically 6. Also very particular about attendance with sign in/out sheet.
She always makes sure to ask if we have any questions and will help you out whenever you need it
Mostly feel like an online class.
More in class lecture
Class is alright if you like an online classes. Even though its in person. Every homework and lesson is online thru this free website called MOER. Its was a hard course for me and everything online made it harder. The only good part is you get to work in groups in class.
Overall the course was not too bad, the only issues I had were things like the video lessons and the homework questions not always being the same, and then also the video lessons sometimes did not have the correct way to complete certain problems. I just wish each lesson was more in depth and studied more.
She is a great teacher and explains things very well. Majority of the learning is done through video lessons online.
She is really good and knows what she is talking about but If you begin to struggle as a student on certain areas MAKE SURE to ask her or attend office hours and she will help you out.
Very vague when helping with questions you aren't sure of. Slow replies, and very exam heavy.
I thought tests were to heavily graded when most if not ALL The time was made learning the Math and doing Homework and Quizzes and Reviews, and hearing Lectures, to be graded 70% on two tests for me, was basically asking me to fail as test horribly and always have.
Not my favorite class at all. The class look like online class. A lot of homeworks and video lessons.
Class was easy, instructor made the material easy to understand.
Let's just say this will be the second time I have failed this class--first time with Burch though. Grading is very frustrating as you could have 95% throughout your homework and quizzes and fail the projects because they are extremely hard and don't resemble anything from your notes or videos and you will fail the class. Good luck.
She is caring and if your having a hard time with a question she goes around to you individually and sh goes step by step the problem
she is super nice and respectful she helps you individually on a specific problem you don't understand she goes through every problem step by step and shows you what step you did wrong
I think she is a good person, just not a good professor. I feel like she is lazy, and just gives out a ton of print out for you to fill out. She runs throught the material, and don't give enough examples on the white board for the class to follow. She has a difficult time explaning how to work out a problem where it's easy to understand.
She is nice, but doesn't seem confident while talking in front of the class (uses um a lot). Goes through material quickly and over explains things to where it is confusing.
Very good professor in my opinion she also goes slow for those of us that need extra time. Doesnt put unrealistic homework expectations on you.
I wish the classroom spent more than one class period going over each portion of each section. Instead of going through the lecture, completing the homework and trying to figure out yourself if you don't fully understand something, then coming back to class and moving on with little time for questions about the last section.
Professor cares that students get and understand the formula of the equations.
Mrs. Burch the the best Math instructor GCC has to offer. She explains the course and the concept of the lesson very clearly and gives instructional help to each student if the problem is too difficult to solve.
This professor can over explain only making the class harder to understand.
She is a great person, but not a good professor. You will go thru sections very quickly you DO NOT get in class time to practice what you learn. You just come to class to copy notes out of a power point with no practice you basically teach yourself at home. Shes a good person but would not take her again.
Kristina Burch is a good professor, because she makes sure her students understand the material before moving on and she also makes her class fun by making jokes and still getting the work done. She is always accessible outside of class through her online program called MOER. It was very easy to get a hold of her if i had any questions or concerns.
Kristina Burch is an amazing Math Professor. However, you need to be prepared to work hard in her class and be willing to put in the extra time when it comes to doing the homework and preparing for the exams. Homework and exam reviews will need have a certain grade percentage in order to be counted for a grade. So be prepared to work hard.
Ms Burch is always is always there to help outside class.
She taught well & I understood the course materials.
Mrs. Burch is an AMAZING professor! I was extremely nervous at the beginning of this course because it has been several years since taking any type of math course. She made me feel comfortable and encouraged me every step of the way. She has a way of explaining the process in a manner that helps me to understand.
Take the extra credit opportunities as much as possible because it will help with your overall grade at the end of the semester. Also do your homework, she gives late passes which is helpful if you work or are busy outside of school. Always ask questions when shes going through power-points or homework help at the beginning of class!
Mrs. Burch was a great teacher and had clear explanations of all the sections we went over. She always went over our notes, homework, and projects which was very helpful.
If you skip homework or the notes that have to be turned in every class period your grade would take a big hit. homework and projects are not hard you just have to practice and ask questions if confused. Besides that class is great
Certain aspects of this course set up, I enjoyed. Other aspects, not so much. Not very helpful when a student is truly struggling in the course, or at answering homework questions before the assignment is due and graded. You must learn how to outsmart the computer to do well in this course.
Lectures were too short. Not enough time given to master a certain lesson before moving on to the next lesson.
A great professor. Despite a larger work load we were provided with notes, in depth lectures, and group work. Also what helped a lot was us being given time in class to work on assignments and one on one time answering questions. Very good at responding to emails. class website was very beneficial. Nice and funny, one of the best teachers ive had.
great instructor she really wants to make sure you are understanding the material and why we use the formulas.
She is a real gem! Always their to help one out .
It's a great professor! She give too much homework but at the end of the semester she drops some of them and that can help push you up there.
Loved the online videos and notes, way better than sitting in a lecture and just following a text book.
Loved the online videos and notes way better than sitting in a lecture and just following a text book.
I would recommend Professor Burch for this course. Her class felt a lot more involved than previous math courses I had taken with different professors. Professor Burch used visual examples at times, which was a unique way to explain or elaborate on a concept. Overall, I enjoyed my time in this class, and I hope you do as well! :)
Professor Burch is a very caring professor. She and her husband wrote their own textbooks, which is used daily in class for notes and reference, but also saves tons of money. She's very helpful and obviously wants her students to pass. I personally enjoyed her class. Just show up, pay attention, ask questions, and boom you pass.
I love Kristina Burch! She teaches the class very well and gives you the help you need if you need it!
Professor Kristina Burch is a good teacher. She is always ready to help.
Professor Burch teaches well. Always ready to help.
Mrs. Burch is a great teacher and I would recommend her to everyone
This class really should be considered a hybrid class. The notes have to be completed before class (online), then we talk about them in class (and take more notes), then do the homework online. All quizzes are online as well. Midterm and final are in class. A LOT of work though. I wouldn't recommend missing any days. Solid teacher, I learned a lot.
75% of the class is done online. The notes are done online, as well as homework, quizzes and projects. There is a lot of material but she teaches in a way that helps you understand. Its important to come to every class or you do get behind, even just missing one.
This was a bit a challenge but not too much of a head ache. Really great teacher.
it was tough.
She doesn't seem like she wants to teach. This class is basically a hybrid class and wasn't specified as one. We learn from a video we watch ar home and fill out our own notes. All she does is go over a PowerPoint that ends up making people more confused. The projects she has you do are long and most of the problems we never had an examples of.
Teacher that will give you the help you need if you give effort. I will say this is the only college math course i would consider myself succeful in but i belive that is due to the way the material is set up and graded in the cirriculum. should be labeled a hybrid class. twards the end it became just rushed reviews of note where some fell behind
The Professor was really nice, but the lecture was too long and you really really need to pay attention. She was good at giving feedback and helping you out with problems. Chapter tests are kind of hard. Somethings in the chapter quiz werent in the lecture.
The class was great but Personally believe that the class time was extended too long.
Not very helpful in class, very confusing teaching method
a lot of work
Professor Burch knows her stuff and will help you when in need. The only thing that sucked was that on hws and quizzes if you did not get a 90 or higher your work was not counted for. Which would of been nice to have had credit for doing what you did. It felt like you spent time on it for no reason if you stayed at an 85 and got no credit for it :/
Very accessible outside of class utilizing MOER and the email portion. The entire semester was laid out for us on how specific grading would be so there would be no confusion on what was and was not due at what times. Finally, there were some sections that if you either did not participate or show to class, it would prove very challenging.
She has clear grading criteria and no book is required. There are notes and assignments every week and a project at the end of each section. Projects are done alone and are difficult. Not alot of time spent learning each section. If you don't get a 90 on homework or an 80 of quizzes you get an automatic F. Not fair seeing you put in the work.
The projects are very difficult and consist of completely different than the homework and quizzes. You must do it alone without aid unless it's from her. Sections 1-4 were a breeze form, but I was very close to giving up during section 5. Especially when it came to the quiz and project. We don't spend long enough on each section to fully grasp it.
The instructor is awesome person great Personality. The instructor is always there when you need her for help on homework assignments or have questions. Overall the class was great but if math is not your subject its going to be a very challenging semester the instructor also though on homework if math is your subject it will be great course.
This class was basically online because the lectures were online and you came to class to do a few problems. She is a nice teacher but didn't give enough examples and too much homework that you have to figure out on your own because she didn't go through the topics clearly. But she does drop quiz and homework grades that are low so that helps some.
Good teacher but she does these 'projects' instead of tests and stuff will show up on there that hasn't been on the homework. She does drop your lowest grades at the end of the semester though.
Professor Birch is nice and helpful if you understand the bulk of the material. Theres no point in having class because this course is 99% online. The notes, homework and tests have to be done online on your own time. If you like online classes then this is the one for you because class time is used as tutoring time.
Very easy to understand and eager to help.
The way this class is run is straight and to the point. Show up, learn the material, and complete the homework before the deadline. She doesn't hold back people who want to get things done early and doesn't leave those who struggle behind.
Mrs. Burch rewards hard work and dedication. If you show no effort you will not pass.
Great Teacher, Caring for other students and even when sick she still came in to do the lesson and help us on the homework.
I actually enjoyed the class. I am passing which has not happened in math since my first Algebra class. I like the fact that everything is gone over really well and if you still need help she is there and makes the time.
I enjoyed her class. Math is not my favorite thing but she made the class do able.
CLASS IS BASICALLY ONLINE BC ALL UR HW, PROJECTS, REVIEWS are on MATHAS. Her tests are like 20 questions. She does math projects that are harder than the homework and are not even on the test. THE PROJECTS SUCK. there is a lot of homework, but no written notes. You print them out and fill them in. you don't really learn in class I learned online
There is a lot of work done outsided of class. All notes, projects, quizes and reviews are done outside of class. They all have a lot of questions, 20+. Good thing about her teaching style is if you don't understand what you're doing, the amount of problems you complete will force you to understand it.
It was nice and it was a easy to learn math.
very good teacher, provides all the tools needed to pass
she is very nice
She is cool
Good Teacher, very willing to help her students.
Good professor.
Burch was a pretty good professor and the class itself was pretty easy for me. I just wish it wasn't so long and that she would email the class when she was going to be absent.
This class is not easy at all, the projects are ridiculous and so not needed. I rather have a test then do another one of her projects. Everything we do and learn is online which makes no sense given that this wasn't a hybrid class. Overall, I'm glad I'm not doing this again.
IF you think that this isn't going to be a online class as well.... think again! this class mostly took place on this website that is god awful and is demanding when it comes to typing in equations. The projects that are given each unit are extremely difficult and nowhere near the same as the notes. I'm glad i'm finished with this class.
I am not a major fan of Ms. Burch's course setup. I feel that since nearly every assignment was submitted online, and all the powerpoints and notes were posted online, this class could be taken online. On the positive side, grading is timely and the course is organized in a clear manner.
Burch is overall a solid and caring professor. Homework was easy and super straight forward. You have to get at least a 90% on it for it to count in the gradebook but you are able to attempt it as much as you need to. Class was a little long and lecture seemed to drag on sometimes. She was absent quite a few times towards the end without notice. :)
It was an online class and anytime I struggled with a question she was quick to reply and give me solid help.
There wasn't a lot of correlation between the notes given to do at home and the presentation given in class. There were things on the presentation in class that were not on the notes. The notes didn't even make much sense and I mainly skipped through them because I was rushing to get them turned in.
Notes don't match what is on the test. Tests are extremely difficult.
Burch is great. She is very clear on what we need to do and will help if you get stuck.
She did a really good job at making sure that you understand the material. And was always willing to help and answer questions. Overall a really good teacher.
projects were a little tough, everything else was fine.
Shes alright.
She was always available in and outside of class to answer questions and help with assignments. She also answered evaluation emails promptly. I would attend another class taught by her.
this is my second time having her as a teacher, and I'm always happy with how her class is taught, would take a class taught by her again.
Since having to take this class again, I definitely had a better time understanding the course despite it being online! In fact, having it online was way better for me since all the resources are accessible so you can always watch them again if you need help. Instructor was a great help informing us students about tests and overall kind and helpful
Was an easy class. Instructor was great.
Great Teacher! I learned a lot from her.
Hard to understand content.
She was there when needed an the style of teaching was great you do the homework and review it after in class to make sure you understand the material.
The notes and additional slides shes provides were more than enough help for successfully completing the course.
She was very attentive to any questions I messaged her, and was thorough in her explanations when she answered them. Very good teacher, and the course material was really thorough as well!
overall good
Overall Great Professor and Course was clear on what needed to be done.
This class was great! Instructor was awesome. The layout of the class was pretty self explanatory and easy to follow. I like the videos and writing in our notes, that was helpful in learning the material. I would definitely take another one of her classes. T
MAT142 Online Course is very organized and it's easy to stay on top of all work. If you do all your work and make sure you actually understand the questions being asked it's an easy A.
I'm not one for online classes, but this class was not bad at all. The best part is that there was NO text book that I had to by. All I had to was print out the guided notes.
Answered all my questions.
I took an in person class last semester and she was a good teacher. I took her online class this semester and it wasn't so bad. You do have to have good attendance though and actually do the work to get a good grade. I'd take her class again.
This class is very difficult, yet lesson learning. You need a lot of motivation and hard work to pass this class.
This class does demand a fair share of your time to succeed, but doesn't take an entire semester to complete. Because of this, homework and online learning is essential to complete as in-class time is limited. Paying attention and good time management will be paramount to success.
Very helpful with exam reviews and project help.
Great at teaching.
This class is easy as long as you have a good understanding of math. I'm not great with it so being able to complete homework and quizzes is hard but as long as you work hard on them and study passing will be easier. If your good at math this is a good class for you to take.
The projects were a little difficult to complete and the videos were not very helpful
I took an online course, the videos were awesome. There were additional powerpoints and videos to review for additional help. If I couldn't figure out the problem I would email her and she responds very quickly.
Good Professor
Love that she post video lectures and powerpoint for some extra homework examples! very helpful.
Great professor. She is willing to help you get through the class and achieve as much as she can.
The class overall was okay you learn at your own pace, but she doesn't offer extra credit sadly. Also the grading is not that great anything below a 90% isn't graded which can kill your grade. If your grade isn't so good and you ask her for help she'll just tell you what your doing wrong, and tell you to try to doing better.
It was a pretty average class, as long as you're able to keep up with the assignments and attend the lectures. Though grading is a bit harsh, as in to be able to receive credit it for homework it has to be 90% or above. Overall, this class is not impossible to pass, as long as enough effort is put in :)
Not a bad prof. the only thing is you have to watch the videos at the beginning of each lesson takes a while but that's it. Quizzes are hard, they are based off the homework.
I took this as an online class which can be difficult when learning math. Her video lessons were very helpful and clear. She uses the MOER system which I really enjoy for math, as it gives you the answer for questions you get incorrect so that you can easily figure out what you did wrong. I appreciate that she is quick to respond to messages!
Professor Burch is very kind and willing to help! She responds quickly and efficiently. This class requires a lot of time to be put in, but I much preferred it to taking on ground. The MOER system was really easy to use!
Shes a good teacher make sure you study.
The videos were very long for the hybrid course, the quizzes and home work were doable but the projects hardly even looked like any of the questions or any of the material gone over in the videos. So you home work, videos, and quizzes were not reliable for help during the projects. Plus the projects were graded so heavily.
really helpful on asking for questions
Ms. Burch is a wonderful professor. I LOVED her class! She was always quick to respond and willing to answer any questions. She is by far one of my favorite professors!
Video and notes provided were clear and easy to follow. Instructor was clear in explaining the math concepts.
Some material can be difficult to learn, but she is willing to help students understand it.
Awesome professor, would hapilly take another class with her if possible.
I did get stuck in some parts but she gave me a chance to get back on track. Some of the problems were difficult but the good thing about online classes is that you can rewatch the videos.
Was suppose to be an in person course but due to corna virus it became an online course. She was quick at responding to emails and your concerns.
Need more time to understand the criteria
She's a very patient respectful professor. Really appreciate her help. I'll admit I was struggling alot but I'm just glad I learned alot. Her lectures were great! Really couldn't have gone through it without her lectures.
Her notes and powerpoints are definitely useful during homework and quizzes. She explains the examples very well.
The video lectures and notes helped a lot while doing the homework and the only difficult assignments were the projects. Professor Burch stays after class to answer any questions from students about homework problems which is helpful!
Definitely would love to have her as a professor again!
Would recommend especially if you do not want to do hard algebra. This gives you an opportunity to do different parts in math and easily understand it if you put the time to learn it.
Uh she's super sweet and caring and doesn't move on unless everyone understands.
Miss Kristina is the best MAT141 tutor! Will definitely recommend her to my peers
Very responsive and helpful without giving answers
A good choice for a MAT182 online. There was a lot of work, but it helps to get help from her, or get tutoring. there a few times I got lost, but a bit of help from tutors fixed it. She gives a lot of work, but definitely completable, even if you fall behind by a day or two.
Awful. The notes didn't match the homework, and the group projects (which also differ greatly from the homework and notes) brought my grade down from an A to a B. The first few video lectures are fine, but after that the information is given very quickly. I wasn't retaining anything so I had to drop.
There's a lot of homework, and you can fall behind easily if not up to date with it. Not very helpful with questions but the powerpoints provided make up for the lack of information.
I was planning to take this class in person but because of the pandemic, I had to take it online. Surprisingly the material was very well organized with lecture videos that thoroughly explained the steps. The quizzes were time-consuming but the exams were fair. Overall great experience.
Thank you so much for teaching the class, and thank you for all your help and understanding this summer. Please stay safe.
This class was difficult to keep up with since there is a lot of homework. But it went by fast and kept me occupied! The instructor was reassuring that she was there to help at any time.
Great professor! The online class was organized great and easy to find lessons. Sometimes the videos were fast that made it was difficult to understand, but listening it to it a couple of times helped. Overall this is a great class and professor.
difficult, fast paced course, but all the information you need is provided on MOER, the late passes come in handy as well, since I was busy trying to balance work and school. Sometimes its just not possible to complete an assignment by midnight because of work and the teacher is understanding of that.
I learn best in a class setting and I found this course to be extremely difficult. The lessons were well organized but towards the end, they were confusing to understand. The online tutors were not much help either.
I took Mat141 online, and while I would have preferred to take it in person, online wasn't too bad. Professor Burch is always available if help is needed. The reviews and homework prepare you for the exams, as there will be no surprises. The projects are tough, though, and require a lot of work. Overall, Prof. Burch and this online class was great
felt like dropping this class due to the nature of it being online. there's a ton of hw everyday since the class is pretty fast paced. sometimes the videos can be a little unhelpful and taking notes can be boring due to it being online only. it's very easy to fall behind especially with the "projects" but the prof. is nice and responds fairly quick
Amazing and flexible teacher when you put in the work, if you are slacking expect no mercy
Pretty much all in the notes from the video and then supplementary power points, using my schools free tutoring really saved me for sure.
The class is well laid out and the processes for solving the problems are explained step by step in the video. The teacher is also quick to respond. The only negative is the Projects, which expand on the info in a way that was not sufficiently explained in the videos, thankfully the project grade has a low impact on the overall grade.
Instructor responds promptly to emails, but responses aren't necessarily helpful. Very much a self-teaching class and assignments have questions/concepts that were never discussed so you have to really think outside the box to complete them. Class was okay overall, I feel like it'd still be difficult to fail.
The class has projects in it that aren't explained in the power points or the videos. I'm not good at math in general and need extra assistance so I personally don't like doing this off script when it comes to this subject.
The Lectures and PowerPoint notes were very helpful in completing this class. Recommend stay ahead and not wait till last minute to work on Projects and Reviews for Midterm and Final. Was able to get a better understanding of some material that I had difficulty with in High School. Class worth taking.
Quick and always kind to respond to emails.
A great class to take if you are able to pace yourself and stay on top of homework as it is due 5 times a week (online). The professor responds quickly and is willing to help if there is any confusion. You can use up to 6 late passes for homework, so that came in hand! Overall, a thorough class and a good professor.
All and all it was a good class- in the beginning the material was hard but it got better as the class went on. Hard class to take online (as any math class is in my opinion).
Overall had a good experience except i ran into issues with the projects as its not included in the videos.
heavy workload for a summer class. easy to pass if you do the work. the teacher is very understanding.
Great class
As long as you take good notes you are good, maybe focus more on reviewing before the final. It wasnt as many questions as I thought it would be, but just study for it. She answers quickly and you can ask for help with a tutor at any time. Gives you many opportunities to get a good grade.
Helpful teacher
Available If you ever need clarification on an Assignment. Gives you a lot of resources in order to help you succeed in the class like tutoring schedule and key sheets to help accomplish youre homework and assign work. It was a pleasure being in her class.
The class overall was a new experience which I really appreciated! (: Everything is fairly understandable unless you slack off which you shouldn't do!! and you get to work at your own pace which is great.
Good class. My only reccomendation is that more examples to some of the homework assignments be provided for clarity.
She responds really quickly with any questions you may have.
Had a great experience.
Very pleasant experience. Course was a little difficult but she cuts a lot of slack.
Assignments were due (most) 5 days a week and you get some late passes to use if you get behind an assignment. She gives projects which were the worst cause the questions on it were never explained how to do. She is super nice though and replies to messages right away and was really helpful with me struggling in the class.
Unless I sent a private message, there was no interaction with my professor. I will say that I had a few issues with grading, correct answers marked wrong. She was quick to respond to my message. The lecture videos were not even done by Professor Burch. It's hard to rate her when she didn't really didn't teach the course.
Obviously, GCC bought this online website for her class. I'm not sure if she's taught online before? On the Moer website, all of the assignments and projects are set up to be self-grading. Even the actual video lesson, is done by a male professor. Unable to answer questions. I wish you could give NEGATIVE SCORES. This was a disappointing class.
We go based off videos and she took off one point for attendance even though I told her ahead of time!!! Her exams are 70% of your grade. But she will give you 16 questions on the exam and one will be 25 points and it will be something you havent even went over in class or on the review. If you even get a 90 on homework it still drops your grade!
This class was purely taught by the Discord Tutoring Center offered by the college. in short this professor will not respond to any of your questions until it is a week later after you had asked and after you had already submitted your homework. Tests are 70% of you grade which is just still insane to me when no resources are then allowed. 0/5
Straight forward class, I enjoyed the solid structure to the modules, she was always helpful and willing to explain further if you didn't understand something the first time around. The questions on the tests might throw you off as they're more complicated and different than the ones on the homework, you'll need to really study the concepts.
The way you learn in this course is by watching pre-made videos her husband has made. The projects are way more complex than what we are being taught. also had to print 80 pages of notes that I needed to fill in. I went into the final with a 79 and failed with a 69. She showed no mercy, all I got was a "good luck on retaking this course:)"
I think the professor gave to much homework and the projects were way harder than expected. The videos really don't teach well in my opinion.
If you took the online class as well I hope you are a quick learner or at least got A smart family member that can help you because honestly it would be easier to get a text back from Nicki Minaj or Kanye West then trying to get a hold of his teacher.
Professor Burch runs a straightforward yet engaging class. The content can be challenging, but she is always happy to provide extra explanations if needed. The tests require a solid understanding of the concepts, so make sure to study thoroughly. Overall, a rewarding experience for those willing to put in the effort.
Solid structure, helpful professor who explains concepts well. Homework and tests differ, so be prepared to really study the material. Unstuck Study AI was a great study tool alongside the textbook.
As long as you do the work she recommends and have good study habits you can get excellent grades with her.
If you do all the work and put in effort, there should be no reason you get anything less than an A. Also if you don't understand something, just ask she's the sweetest and always willing to explain. Such an amazing professor, I really recommend this class!
I withdrew from her class after 3 weeks. The mor platform she uses is not intuitive and she spends most of the class time with group work and unhelpful powerpoints. decided to withdraw and I am taking it online with a different professor. Do yourself a favor and avoid her classes.
I was told by an advisor to take this prep class to better prepare myself for college math. This course and the material have done nothing for me after putting so much time and effort into it. I am going into my final exam knowing I might fail and was not properly prepared at all for college algebra.
Every week was two 25-45 min videos with notes, two homework assignments of about 20 questions, and a quiz of about 10-15 questions. After every module there is an exam and there's five modules. If you are taking this online you need a printer. Midterm and Final are in person and only 13 questions and heavily graded. You NEED to study to pass.
this class was so hard for no reason. her husband teaches most of what you'll learn.. then we go over some stuff in class. the "project" are so complex and don't align with what we learn in the lessons. she is fine with explaining stuff but i would not recommend this class to someone else. lastly, get to spend some time printing all the papers out.
