Mrs. McKinney is a good teacher. she knows what she is talking about very young and professional. I would take her again if I could. As long as you do your work and show up to class you will pass. The only thing is there's a lot of writing in the class, but not so hard in grading.

she was nice, some people didnt like her much but if you do your papers on time and bring drafts to class, etc. you can easily pass the class. i would recommend taking her if you want to improve your writing and want to make the class worth while

She is a nice instructor, but grades unfairly if your opinion differs from hers. I am an A student in all my previous writing classes. In this one, she didn't care to see the quality of my papers, than my thoughts on the work our textbook covered and if it matched her views.Proceed with caution, you've been warned.

She shut my mac book and told me to buy the book for class. I can not afford a book. So I use the internet to read the stories. She has no respect for students, she sees us as kids.

The individual(yes INDIVIDUAL!!) might of had their head in there ass because she is a very easy ncoe teacher. She works fair and is not BIAS!! lets you express yourself in your writing. only down side is no make up wrk. Only on essays and the penalty is minues 20pts and that is it. TAKE HER YOU WIL NOT REGRET IT!!

She isnt the worse teacher in the world, she is just a bit opinionated and more tough. A good teacher, but you really have to go to class and pay attention more than in another ENG class. There is tons of writing but what do you expect from an ENG/LIT class? Take her if you want to earn your grade, instead of just pick it up.

shes fun. she has kids that sometimes have her cancel class if they are sick.all in all shes pretty good as a teacher and the homework isnt hard if she assigns it.

I enjoyed Professor McKinney's class a great deal. I thought she was well-prepared and made a great effort to make sure her students spoke in class. If you don't do the work, though, you won't do well. I think many of the negative reviews here are from people who expected to be handed a grade, like in high school. She's a great teacher.

She is a great teacher, my writing skills really improved by taking her class. Alot of the papers are easy to write, you just need to pay attention to what she wants specifically in each one. I would take another class! She is very good at teaching and very helpful!

I thought she was a fantastic teacher. This wasn't a class where you could just scoot by, but it was still fun if you made it fun. If you just wrote essays without any thought or creativity then of course it would be a boring class. Essays in general are boring! But, she was very helpful, and creative writers will do well in her class.

I loved this class and thought Mrs. McKinney did a great job! You have to do the work, though. She's fair and goes the extra mile for the students, but only if you show up and do your work. I'd take another class by her.

I took her online Literature course. There was a lot of work, but it was spaced generously. She assigned easy topics and was not too hard on grading. She did, however, take forever to post grades. This class was an easy A.

She gives fairly easy assignments, helps you when you need it, gives constructive feedback, and I never find this class boring. Overall, a very good instructor.

Mrs. McKinney was an amazing teacher. She was very clear and if you do what she assigns then you will be fine. I would highly recommend her for 1301! The only reason why a person could get a bad grade in this class is if they skip class a lot or don't do any of the homework assignments. Very easy class! Just do what she asks and you'll get an A.

She makes this class enjoyable. She has such a bubbly personality, you can't help but smile.

She is a great professor! I would definitely take her again in the future for Comp 2. If you're struggling with a topic she is helpful and willing to bounce ideas. Found online peer reviews to be very helpful as well.

Easy A in her class, her lectures are short and she always gives great feedback during essays.

You will not pass if you do not read. I didnt really like this class because interpreting literature is subjective, but sparknotes is a great source for inspiration. Give yourself lots of time for the essays bc thats the bulk of the course grade. Never knew when quizzes were bc she didnt upload anything on canvas till 2min before class

This is an English class. You will READ and you will WRITE. She does give feedback. If you incorporate her feedback and visit the writing lab you will do fine. Made A's on every paper. She tells you exactly what she expects. Lot's of group discussion at your table. Fun assignments.

You will have to do work every single day for this course! You will need to read each chapter and get ready to write papers. She cares and gives feedback.

McKinney may seem like a tough grader, but the reality is she really sticks to her grading criteria. She genuinely cares about her students, and if you have questions, she will provide answers. Her lectures are funny, and her quizzes are based off of chapters that will help you improve as a writer. If you want an A, you'll have to work hard for it.

Easy Course!

Despite her bad rating, I really enjoyed Kristina. She is a tough grader, but that's because you must read her rubrics and instructions and follow them to a T. If you do not she grades harshly. To her it is the minimum requirement. She gives amazing feedback though and tries super hard to answer every question her students have. She clearly cares.

Class was not too difficult, not sure why she is receiving so many bad reviews, as I took her zoom course this semester. We only had 4 major essays, all of which were under 1000 words except one research paper (understandable). She only had us meet 50% and work on our assignments during class time the other 50%. Decent class overall.

I took McKinney my first and second semesters at NVC when I was a dual credit student. Her lectures are easy to understand and follow along. She answers questions very well and will spend time with you to help you pass her class. She spends time giving solid feedback for each essay. She does require participation in class and in group discussions.

Took Prof McKinney for ENGL 1302 zoom class. She's super nice and is willing to answer any questions you have. Attendance is graded, there were 3 essays, a few short writing assignments, and a few short quizzes. You'll need to use your book. Group discussions almost every class. If you put in the work, you'll pass easily. I recommend Prof McKinney.

Took her class when I was a dual credit student. I did not experience any of the negativity left in these reviews. I passed both comp I and II with A's fairly easy. She left a good amount of info on each assignment and the criticism she gave was helpful (for me). Class is easy if you meet each assignments requirements (word count, format, topic).

Professor McKinney was a great instructor--Her lectures were easy to follow and she really knows what she's talking about. There is a lot of group work in this class, and you have to follow the rubric pretty exactly on the assignments. I really enjoyed this class! Planning on taking some of her upper level courses too.

good professor. i was struggling but she helped me out which bumped my gpa up. she cares about her students

The assignments were clear and conscience. There were only 3 essays, 6 simple quizzes and 4-5 discussion posts. The class was pretty simple, I am not too sure why she has such a bad rating because she was responsive, clear and a fairly easy grader.
