Kristina is a new professor this semester at Pitt. She is originally a chem PhD but is teaching stat. Despite the weird circumstances, she is a solid option. If you do the hw and know how to do each problem, there is no reason you shouldn't be able to get through this class with an A- or A. Her lectures are a little gimpy, but overall informative
She's a new prof and sometimes lecture can be awk. She's not great at explaining things but if you just write down all of the formulas on a cheat sheet (1 paper for exams 2 for final) you should do fine on the quizzes & exams. You get to drop 2 of the weekly quizzes(open book/notes) which is nice. The homework is the hardest part of the class.
Kristina is very nice but is not good at explaining statistics. She seems unorganized and her slides frequently have typos that affect the clarity of the info. Quizzes are very easy and exams are manageable if you make a good cheat sheet. Homework can be tricky and are worth a lot, and you don't get a free pass on them so don't miss any.
Kristina was one of the worst professors I have had at Pitt. She is AWFUL at explaining concepts. Throughout the semester she never actually went through a single problem with us step-by-step. Her quizzes were open note, which saved my grade, but her tests were unfairly set up with multiple choice questions that were worth 6+ points. Don't take her
One of the worst professors I have had at Pitt. Lectures were very hard to follow and often contained typos or incorrect information, as she took it all from the internet. Examples in class rarely reflected what was on the quizzes/exams and in class reviews were not useful. She was rather disorganized as well. I mostly taught myself the material.
Professor Paris is a very nice teacher. Easy tests and quizzes but lots of hard homework. Easy to pass exams with a detailed cheat sheet.
She is a solid professor- the class material is dry but she tries really hard to make it interesting and keep you engaged. The lecture powerpoints are posted online and homework helps supplement the material. Material you will be tested on is very clearly stated. She answers questions if you ask them and is very helpful in office hours.
She only read off of the slides during lecture (which she posts online) and never fully went through a problem on the board. Each slide was disorganized and had too much info, so it was hard to tell what was important. Explanations were not clear on the slides. Homework was tedious and took hours. Exams & quizzes were fair. Note sheets allowed.
Paris is a good choice for stat1000. The homework is the hardest part of the class but its not bad if you work with friends. The exams are pretty straightforward if you make a good cheat sheet. Lectures are not that engaging but you get bonus points for attending sometimes. All in all a pretty good way to get stats done with.
Kristina is amazing. If you ever need anything she is easily accessible. All the reviews about her slides dont take into account that they are made by the department head so she has to use them. Every stat class uses the same slides. She also offers extra credit in class. Homework can be tough, but working with friends helps!
I would 100% recommend her. Yes, the homeworks arent super easy because theyre straight from the textbook, but if you go to her office hours she will check EVERY problem. Recitation was super helpful and the quizzes and labs were easy. All of our exams were fair and had high averages. She also started giving extra credit if you went to lecture!
Amazing professor Not the greatest lecturer but if you print off the slides and follow along, it will be ok. Very fair and helpful. She's so sweet and understanding. Highly highly recommend!!!
She's a really sweet person. She responded to all of my emails instantly, even for assignments that were due very soon. She now offers extra credit on select days for attending lecture, so that should really help your grade. Her homework is pretty rigorous but her exams are not too bad with a decent cheat sheet. Quizzes are fine with a good TA.
I dont know why there are bad reviews of Dr. Paris. She is definitely a good option for statistics. She is very sweet and caring. Her lectures can be a bit dry but they are good. Her exams are fairly easy as long as you study. I recommend making a very good notes sheet for exams one and two, and save a bit of space on one of them for the final.
2 midterms, 1 final, weekly hw and quizzes. if you're taking STAT1000, Kristina is the person to take it with. Her hw is significantly harder than her exams which is good for practice. She has a ton of bonus opportunities throughout the semester so make sure you attend class.
Paris is a great professor and you can tell she really cares that everyone does well in her class. The exam averages were always really high and she gives bonus points for coming to lecture.
Her class is hard, but she really cares about everyone in her class. If you go to lecture there are a lot of extra credit opportunities that she'll help you with. Always available to help outside of class. Tries to make sure everyone passes.
Paris is an amazing professor, if you have any questions definitely go to office hours she will go over it with you and she explains the material more clearly if you need another refresher. Attendance isn't mandatory but she gives out extra credit during lectures which comes in handy. She sets you up to succeed.
Right now, the university is shut down because of Covid-19, and Kristina is one of the few professors who genuinely is making sure her students are taking care of their mental and physical health before transitioning to online classes. She is a good teacher, and she really wants you to understand and pass her class. Take her if you can!
Dr. Paris is amazing! She honestly wants everyone to get an A and gives you every resource possible to do so. You will have to put in some work but the homeworks are manageable and you get 2 attempts. Labs are easy and open note quizzes and tests are fair. She's very organized and responds to emails within minutes. Great choice for stats!
Dr. Paris is the best prof I've ever had. She is so understanding and kind. Her class isn't hard and her lectures are boring but that's not really her fault. There's a lot of homework but it isn't hard and she's always open to answer questions. 15/10 would take again.
If you're considering taking Paris, DO IT!!! Her lectures are easy to understand, she posts her slides online and she gives so much extra credit if you show up to class. Homework was okay, a bit difficult, but I know that she is available to go over answers and the tests compared to the homework were a bit easier. She really cares for her students.
Kristina is great. Really solid choice for a stats prof. Really knowledgeable and knows stats very well. Can be a little socially awkward but you'll get over it. Exams are fair/ez (average was a 90 on the first test). There are a lot of assignments in this class as well as extra credit to help your grade. Class does get harder so show up to lecture
Dr. Paris is an absolute anomaly within the University of Pittsburgh. Unlike 99% of the professors at the school, she seemed to legitimately enjoy teaching and wants you to do well. With all the extra credit and help she offers you literally have to try to get anything lower than an A in the class.
Dr. Paris is definitely the most caring professor I've had at Pitt! It was a pretty easy A with so much extra credit, and she was by far the best professor I had after the transition to online. Her lectures are very organized and she gives you every chance to succeed! She'll even email you pictures of her cats if you ask :)
First professor I've had at Pitt where you can tell she really cares that every student succeeds and gets a good grade. Tests were always really similar to practice tests and she gave a lot of bonus points too.
Kristina is an absolute homie. Even during the pandemic, she's the most enthusiastic, energetic professor I've ever had. Gives out tons of extra credit and goes over it in lecture (free points!), exams are fair, and she will help you out with homework during office hours if you ever have a question. If you like pets, her cats and dogs show up too.
Professor Paris is one of the most caring and sweet people I have ever met. She gives around 2 pts of extra credit each week (and goes over it so your answers will always be correct). Homework and a quiz every week, both are straightforward. A fantastic teacher and is always available if you have a question. I would HIGHLY recommend taking her.
Dr. Paris made statistics highly, highly accessible. If you put in the work, you'll get the score you want. Weekly quiz/lab activity, homework assignment, and small extra credit opportunities. Textbook wasn't necessary, as slides / examples / hw provided more than enough clarity for the topics. One of the most caring professors at Pitt!
Dr. Paris was amazing! She was so understanding during the pandemic and cared so much about student's mental health. The HWs are pretty simple (do get progressively harder) and lecture is engaging. The extra credit is during lecture and she even goes over the answers. There were 3 exams given, all with ample time to complete them (24 hr window).
I loved seeing her cats in online lectures. She's clearly a very caring person and quite understanding of hard times. Getting help from her is no problem at all. If you put in moderate work, an A is very obtainable.
Dr. Paris is seriously one of the best professors at Pitt. She really cares about you and wants you to succeed and makes every lecture interesting. Weekly hw, quiz, and extra credit opportunities. Exams were extremely fair and weighted differently in your final grade depending on how you did on them(worst, best, and middle grade). Take her class!!
She's super understanding, and makes lectures pretty engaging, even online. She gives a lot of extra credit so if you put in the bare minimum of effort, you'll do well in this class. Recitations aren't mandatory and there's weekly homework. Definitely take her class for a stress free experience in stat 1000.
Kristina is a wonderful professor that truly cares about her students. She has made online learning as normal as possible and gives many extra credit opportunities. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone!
Kristina is easily in my top two favorite professors I've had at Pitt. She genuinely cares about her students doing well in class AND their well-being overall. There was extra credit every lecture and if I had any issues at all, she was more than happy to help. She even had office hours DURING the open-note exams for people with test anxiety! 11/10
One of the best professors I have ever had. Exams are worth 40%, quizzes and labs 30%, and homework 30%. She gives extra credit on a weekly basis and does whatever she can to make sure that you are learning the material.
Shes so amazing and ready to help you. She gives tons of extra credit options and lets you re do assignments. While she doesn't curve you'll be fine. You also get to work with people for quizzes and she weighs the tests differently where your higher score is more heavily weighted. Shes amazing
Professor Paris is hands down one of the best professors I've ever had. She makes the material easy to understand. She was also so enthusiastic during classes and making sure everyone was doing well during the pandemic. Tests are fair and accurately test the material. You'll love this class!
Dr. Paris is a true gem of Pitt. She truly cares about her students (offers mental health/mindfulness resources), and even with the online format she always brought her bubbly personality to class. There is extra credit offered in class which she reviews. Exams are fair- just go to class & do the hw and this class is a great time.
I love professor Paris! She is a total cat lady, and always tells stories about how her life is going. She makes stat very understandable, and her tests are very fair (open note online)! She is pretty much lecturing the entire time, but it is very logical and well paced (although sometimes you have to ask her to slow down a bit)!
she's amazing. neatly organized everything, fair lectures and exams. you'll have two attempts for quizzes and three attempts for HW. gives partial credits on exams as long as you show work, and your best exam will contribute to your final grade the most. generous extra credits. understanding and caring, easy to access.
Wholeheartedly recommend any class by her. Explains material well. Quick to respond to questions and available and willing to help outside of class. Really kind. Exams and quizzes are fair. Gives 3 tries for HW, 2 for quizzes, and lots of extra credit opportunities. You are basically guaranteed to do well if you pay attention and do the work
If you have the chance to choose Professor Paris, definitely do so! She is the one of the kindest people I've ever met, and she is very understanding, especially with online learning/covid. There are many ways to improve your grade, such as labs, homework, and extra credit assignments during almost every lecture.
Prof. Paris is literally an angel. Aside from being generous and understanding, she always made my Tuesdays and Thursdays better. She is one of those teachers who makes you WANT to come to class. She is always in a great mood and willing to help. Shes a very generous grader and prepares you well for the exams, which were accurate to class material.
Dr. Paris is the kindest and most genuine professors I have ever had. She truly cares for her students and wants to see them succeed. I never really liked stats before but with her as a professor it was my favorite class this semester!
Kristina was by far the best professor I had this semester. She really wants to see her students succeed. She didnt normalize the class so a lot of people did well. She offered tons of extra credit, multiple attempts on quizzes, and had great and interesting lectures. Genuinely can not say enough good things about her.
The way I LOVE this woman -- hands down the most empathetic professor in STEM that I've had so far. Kristina is always available and flexible with her time, and gives out so much extra credit that you have a huge buffer at the end of the semester. She really understands a student's POV during COVID and tries her best to accommodate. Take her class!
Dr. Paris is very understanding and her class is very straightforward. She offers weekly extra credit problems and the homework/exams/quizzes are pretty self-explanatory if you follow in class and keep up to date with classwork.
She's an angel. I knew practically nothing about stats before taking her, and I ended up really understanding and getting a solid grade. If you get the chance, take her!
I took this to fulfil a gen-ed req, but I really enjoyed the class and learned a lot. I recommend you pay attention and watch the lectures because while the class isn't hard, it is very easy to fall behind and playing catchup is not fun. Overall good class and I think some of the skills could be useful in my career.
There is a lot of homework and a lot of lecture, but if you attend class and do homework you can do very well on exams without studying. There are 3 exams total and she gives LOTS of extra credit. The exams are weighted about wqually with homeworks and labs. I very much reccommend Kristina Paris, she is so accomidating and kind.
Dr. Paris is an excellent professor. She was extremely attentive to students in and out of class and always offered extra help. If you go to class, you have the opportunity to do extra credit assignments each class that will help your grade a lot. Dr. Paris also allowed for cheat sheets for each exam and extra points on exams for submitting work.
Gives so many extra credit opportunities so grades will def get boosted. Got a 95 on the first exam and then 75s on the next two and still ended with an A. The lectures are not really interesting, but she is a good teacher. Also accommodating!!
Literally a queen. I hate math but she made the subject bearable. She's super nice and took the time to thoroughly answer everybody's questions. I <3 Kristina Paris.
She was a legend. Overall her lectures were very easy to understand and she helped explain everything to people who struggled. There was also a lot of extra credit which helped my grade be over 100 the whole semester. What a legend. If you need to take a STATS course take her course.
She is one of the best professors I have had at Pitt. She really wants you to succeed and helps you out with any questions you have. Her lectures are really good and she gives tons of extra credit opportunities. You have a quiz or lab every week but they really help your grade and you can work with other people
Kristina Paris is one of the best professors Ive ever had. I came into this class thinking I was going to bomb statistics, and came out with a passion for stats. Shes very accessible outside of class, and wants her students to succeed. Super understanding about absences, and that life happens. Lots of opportunity for extra credit.
Dr. Paris is amazing. She is SO willing to go above and beyond to help you understand the content. I was worried about taking stat, but she made the class very doable. She is always willing to answer questions, gives lots of extra credit opportunities, and gives you a cheat sheet for exams. Also, her pets made some lovely cameos!
Kristina Paris is an absolute queen. She's so caring and understanding of extenuating circumstances and gave me multiple extensions. There's homeworks and a quiz or lab every week but they're not too bad. She gives lots of extra credit too. If you have to take STAT 200 100000% take Paris she's amazing.
An incredible prof. Took stat in high school and it was tough, but Dr. Paris makes it super easy to understand. Lots of extra credit. Cheat sheets for exams. Weekly hw and either quiz or lab each week. Exam questions are super easy. Totally recommend the class and Dr. Paris!!
Take Dr. Paris for the Dietrich Quantitative Formal Reasoning gen ed! Two out of three exams were offered online as well as in-person, and every week there was extra credit. She knows this is not people's favorite thing and is always willing to help as much as she can.
Dr. Paris is the nicest and sweetest teacher I have EVER met at my time in Pitt. She truly cares about you, your mental health, and is amazing at explaining concepts!! I saw earlier reviews about her being disorganized or whatever, but that was probably because she was a newer teacher then. If you take her class now, easy A. So glad I met her
Easiest time I've ever had with math! Did not attend lectures in person. There is a lot of extra credit and two of your worst quizzes and homeworks are dropped.
Super kind professor who genuinely cares about her students! So glad I took stat with Dr. Paris!
Dr. Paris was an awesome professor and I would recommend her to anyone. She gave lots of extra credit and she was a fair grader. The test were easy and the homework did not take long. Take her for stats!!
She is an awesome professor. She gives weekly extra credit opportunities and all the exams only equate to 40% of your grade. The rest of your grade is extra credit, quizzes and homework. Great teacher that id recommend to anyone .
Very nice teacher even though I wasn't good at statistics. Was very accommodating even when I didn't have an official DRS letter. She really cares about her students and made us slides with pet pictures and songs we submitted.
She's such a sweetheart and is a great teacher. She made stats enjoyable and easy.
AMAZING PROFESSOR. She is my favorite professor so far at Pitt. She is so sweet and really cares that her students do well. Very accessible outside of class. Very clear and fair on grading. Usually drops certain grades and gives opportunities for extra pts at the end of semester to boost grade. Highly recommend.
Dr. Paris really made me like math again, I never dreaded going to her class because it was always fun and helpful. She is a great professor for statistics and I would 100% recommend her!
Amazing. I wish every single professor could be like Kristina Paris. She is so kind and caring, and obviously loves what she does.
Excellent professor who genuinely cares about your success
If you need to statistics, take Paris! She is a very strong instructor and makes the material easy to grasp. Allowed to use a "cheat sheet" for formulas needed on exam. 40% of grade is made up of 3 exams and 60% is weekly homework, recitation assignments. Xtra credit too! Very accommodating and approachable. Overall, one of the best at Pitt!
I think that Kristina Paris might be one of the best professors at Pitt. She actually teaches during lecture, and her exams are very fair. You get a "cheat sheet" for all the exams, and there are weekly extra credit assignments.
LOVE LOVE LOVE. she make stats easy to understand and her lectures are so good. shes super nice and accommodating as well. hybrid class, lots of extra credit opportunities and hw + lab/quiz due every saturday night. 3 exams that are very straightforward as long as u use the practice material she gives and no final.
Easily one of the nicest professors I've ever had. She was so understanding and flexible with extensions. Every lecture is recorded and there's no attendance so you don't even have to go to class. She also lets you go to any recitation time and it's optional. Just prepare for 2 pretty heavy homework assignments a week. Also tons of extra credit.
Kristina is great! She made stats understandable and she's a really caring professor. One of the easiest classes I've taken in college!
Dr. Paris is the best! I would definitely take her. She made everything very understandable and easy. She cares a lot about your mental health and plays music at the start of each class. She offers a ton of extra credit and lets you have cheat sheets for the exams. The exams are very similar to the practice exams she gives out.
Great professor. Very understanding and helpful with anything. She really cares about her students and makes class enjoyable. Easy to understand the material because of her lectures. Lots of opportunities to get help or ask questions. As long as you pay attention in class, this class is easy to do well in.
Very caring professor that offered a ton of support to her students! A great lecturer that made concepts incredibly easy to understand. Attendance isn't mandatory and she records every lecture which was incredibly helpful.
Lots of extra credit, and quizzes are open note. She is truly the nicest professor I have ever had and will make sure you get a good grade in her class. Recitation is helpful, especially for labs. She is amazing and definitely the best professor at Pitt.
Dr. Paris is one of the most caring professors I've had at Pitt. Her lectures are very clear, especially if you have not taken Stat before. Cheat sheets are allowed on exams and she offers a lot of extra credit throughout the semester. Very helpful in office hours and genuinely cares about her students!
TAKE PROFESSOR PARIS! She honestly was one of the best professors I've had since starting at college. She is well prepared for the material she gives, doesn't make the class boring at all, and is one of the nicest professors you will take. She is easy on grading and gives lots of extra credit.
I took this last semester but forgot to rate her, easily the best teacher I've ever had in my life. I am horrible at math and managed an A in statistics. She makes everything make so much sense and if you can take her.. DO IT!! She deserves everything in the world and she said she reads these so hii, you are the best!!
TAKE DR. PARIS! If you eveer have to take a stats class and she is teaching them, take her. She is by far one of the best professors here at Pitt. The way she teaches lectures makes it easy to follow along and she is always accessible outside of class if you need extra help. She gives so much extra credit so take advantage of it.
Prof Paris is the best. She lets us have cheat sheets for exams, gives lots of extra credit, records lectures, and lets you go to any recitation time. The labs and homeworks are annoying and don't reflect test questions but if you work with others, it's not as bad. For labs and homeworks you get 3 tries to answer correctly. I would take this again.
I am someone that really struggles with math and I was super worried going into this course. Paris was so helpful and explained everything to help me understand. She wants her students to do the best they can. I highly recommend her!
Best professor ever. I was so nervous to take this class but Paris made it very easy to understand the material and the homework and labs helped a lot too.
Extremely nice and the course load was super reasonable. Homework was alternated each week with a lab or quiz. Every quiz was open notes and not timed, and homework allows for three tries. Four exams (including the final) where we were allowed a cheat sheet. I ended with over an 100 in the class...TAKE HER.
Gives extra credit, allows cheat sheets on exams, and thankfully records her lectures so you can review or learn at your own pace. very caring and understanding with students and makes stats easy to learn.
Professor Paris was great, I had her for the Fall 2023 semester. Gives extra credit and recitations are "optional". She really just wants people to understand the topic, and grading comes second. Very understanding, and accessible via email. Would recommend to everyone! (Weekly assignments, 3 exams, cheat sheet)
Kristina is such a nice prof. She rly cares abt her students and clearly wants everyone to well. Cheat sheets on exams. Lots of assignments that are easy 100s. I would definitely recommend her
Great experience with Dr. Paris. Attendance to lecture and recitation is optional (only if you want extra credit). You can attend class in person or on zoom any time throughout the semester. Course material is very easy, The first two tests for the most part cover high school level stats. 100% Recommend
One of the most caring professors at Pitt, she truly cares about her students and their success. It is very easy to learn in her class and obtain an A. Lectures are optional, you get extra credit if you show up to a certain amount. Take Paris!!
Great professor. Homework is manageable, tests are allowed cheat sheets, quizzes are allowed notes and other people in recitation, labs are pretty much handed to you. Super upbeat teacher, loves statistics. Absolutely nothing bad to say about her. Tests are easy and fair, lectures are made as digestible and entertaining as a lecture can be.
Dr. Paris really knows how to teach this subject! As a non-math person, I never felt overwhelmed by what we were expected to complete. She has a lot of office hours set up to help, which I went to often. Cheat sheets are allowed for exams, but you still have to know your stuff. Homework and quizzes/labs are done weekly, all with ample help.
Really enjoyed being in Dr. Paris's class. Really entertaining lectures even though the material isn't the most entertaining. You can tell she cares a lot about her teaching and her students. TA Karim was no help at all unfortunately
Absolutely love Professor Paris. Shes such a kind human being and is always willing to help. She always tries her best to make lecture enjoyable. Definitely recommend
If you can take Dr. Paris ABSOLUTELY do! She is a wonderful teacher and is SO helpful. So glad I took her class, I now have a good understanding of statistics. My grade is still in progress but I think I am going to end with an A or even an A+ :)
Take Dr. Paris for stats!!! She is super caring and gives the option to join lecture on zoom instead of in person. She is very understanding in terms of assignment extensions, mental health, etc. She gives a ton of example problems and explains concepts really well.
Dr. Paris is the best!! She made the class really enjoyable. The class material is definitely basic and not too difficult but she was still a great professor. She was super understanding and made exceptions for anyone who had to miss class or exams. Love her!!
I took STAT 200 as my quantitative and formal reasoning class. I barely passed college algebra so I went into this class really nervous. Dr. Paris is a great professor and makes it really easy to succeed. Each exam is worth 10% of your grade while the rest is made up of quizzes (can be done in groups and at home,) lab, hw and in class assignments.
Great professor, everything you need to know is on the slides and the work is very easy. She is very nice and she would always stay after class if you have questions
Dr. Paris is super kind and explains stats in a very thorough and accessible way. You can tell she really cares about her students and wants us to do well in the class.
Doctor Paris is a great professor! She provides many ways to prepare students for exams, such as homework, labs, and practice. Her lectures were very engaging and she was always accessible to ask questions to. She made her class very accommodating, providing zooms for every class and ways to communicate during class on GroupMe. Highly recommend!
Everything you read about Dr. Paris is true. She is an amazing teacher. There is a lot of information in this course, but you can rewatch the lecture slides. She always asks the class if we have any questions, and she is available through GroupMe, her office hours, and email. She is one of the best professor here. No joke.
TAKE HER!! Paris is so nice and understanding, she answers your questions and is extremely accessible. There were 3 tests: the first 2 you got 1 cheat sheet (front and back), and the final 2 cheat sheets. She really wants you to pass this class. There were several labs and quizzes but the TA helped you find the right answers. Hw is not bad at all
Mother!!!!
If you have to take a stat class at Pitt take it with Dr. Paris. She is one of the best professors I have had. She makes herself available to everyone and really makes sure everyone succeeds. She made the class interesting and found a way to make a big lecture engaging and interactive. Learned so much!
I hate statistics and doubted myself coming into this course, but Kristina made it so easy to succeed. You get a double-sided cheat sheet on every test (2 on the final!). 1 lab/quiz per week in recitation (the TA will help you). 1 short homework per week with unlimited attempts. Attendance is for credit, but you can miss some classes. WHAT A QUEEN!
Kristina was very kind and caring. She always gave feedback when asked and the homework wasn't really difficult. You could definitely still pass the exams if you started studying a few hours before. Got cheat sheets as well. Do the practice exams and you will be halfway there to the A.
Professor Paris is amazing! She makes the material really engaging and provides tons of support. The class has a good workload, but with the help of Unstuck AI and office hours, it's very manageable. Highly recommend this class!
If you get the opportunity to take this course I definitely recommend it. She cares about her students and wants them to do well in her class. She's very good about answering questions and making sure everyone has a good understanding. Her exams can be difficult if you don't put in some work, but she lets you have a cheat sheet for every exam!
Professor Paris is such a lovely professor. She takes into account every student and genuinely cares for your wellbeing despite her teaching large classes. She is accessible outside of class has her practice exams are very similar to the real ones. Definitely recommend!!
I'm very fond of Dr. Paris considering the fact that I am terrible at math. For exams, we were allowed a cheat sheet. Labs can be long but very doable. Attendance was not mandatory in either lecture or recitation but I highly highly highly encourage to attend. She's a kind and funny professor that will help you to succeed in her class!!!
She is just the best, nothing else to say.
Dr. Paris is very nice and the class itself isn't too hard. It's pretty basic statistics. That being said, I'm not the best at math and wouldn't call this class "easy". She moves through the material quick and it's easy to get lost. Go to the lectures and pay attention. There's also extra credit if you attend at least 75% of the lectures anyway.
I just love her. She is so nice and caring and responds to emails pretty quickly even if it's late. She is very willing to help and offers class in person and on zoom if you cannot make it. The only reason I find this class difficult is because she moves quickly through lecture, but recordings are always posted after class. Please take her.
As someone who has always struggled in math classes, Dr. Paris made me feel capable and knowledgeable in class. Not only is she an amazing teacher, she also makes herself and her lectures available easily so if you need extra help you can get it. TAKE HER CLASSES.
Great professor, lots of in-class examples that correspond to what is going to be on exams. Gives you a full sheet of paper front and back to use on exams, amazing professor I recommend her for everyone.
You need to take it, it's got to be Dr. Paris. One of them best human beings in the world. Math is not my string suit but she has boosted my confidence in the class. There are 3 exams and we are allowed to have cheat sheets. Labs were fine! Attendance isn't "required" in lecture/rec but I do recommend it. Will give extra credit a lot. Love her!!
I am an absolute disaster in math but I was still able to understand statistics with Dr. Paris. She was so great and very caring. I had to take an exam on a different date and she was very accommodating about that. There is lots of extra credit so it's not hard to do well if you pay attention. Wonderful class!
WHAT A QUEEN, if you have to take stat take it with her. Attendance is not required, and extra credit is given if you go, you can do class on zoom too. cheat sheets for the 3 exams and homework/labs are super easy. dr paris is so caring and wants you to succeed. I highly recommend
Good professor to take if you're taking STAT 0200 as a prereq. Exams only 30% of grade but cover TONS of content! She goes very fast in lecture so it can be hard to keep up at points. However, as long as you put in effort and complete all assignments, it is not hard to do well on exams. She gives partial credit on exams and lots of extra credit.
Dr. Paris is the ABSOLUTE BEST, she seriously is one of the nicest professors at Pitt and wants you to succeed. Lecture, recitation, and lab attendance is all optional and she gives you credit if you go to class, her exams are very straight forward and she explains things very well. She is super understanding and just an all around great person.
She was amazing! So kind and just wanted all her students to do well. She made the class very easy and stress-free. Couldn't recommend enough! She had 3 exams but you get cheat sheets on all of them. She also had homework, but it wasn't long or hard.
Her lectures are sometimes too fast, but she is always available when you need help. Had many tries on homeworks and in class assignments. 3 exams but your best one is weighted more than the others. She wants all of her students to do well!
really awesome professor, and i totally recommend. it's honestly pretty easy to do well, and you get note sheets for each exam. as long as you have the formulas and know how to use them you should be able to do well. i didn't even study for the last exam, just made the note sheet
Dr. Paris is mother. So many extra credit opportunities, cheat sheets on every exam, and she is so helpful and supportive, and she truly wants everyone to do amazing. She by far the sweetest, kindest, and most understanding professor I've ever had, and I would take her again in a heartbeat. Literally nothing bad to say about her, 10/10.
Couldn't love her more. This is the second class I've taken with her and I would urge everyone to take her if you have the option to. She makes STAT fun, gives so many opportunities to do well and is so understanding of her students. Great lecturer, and posts everything online so if you miss some classes it's not a problem. Learned so much from her
She is a queen, enough said. I got around a B+ Average on the 3 exams and ended the class with a 100 (IDK how). Cheat sheet for all exams and homework is super easy. Lab is annoying but whatever.
Taking stats with Dr. Paris made learning so much more enjoyable. She is incredibly caring about her students success and provides so many opportunities to do well. There is a lot of homework, but it's all helpful! In the best way possible, she is a crazy cat lady. If you need to pet a cat to de-stress, she's the one for you!
Dr. Paris makes taking college statistics so easy, and even though you get cheat sheets on exams and stuff like that, she teaches so well that you barely need them if you're following along and doing the homework every week. Recitation labs were the worst part, but still relatively easy. Dr. Paris evidently wants everyone to do well.
Dr. Paris is genuinely one of the best professors I have had. She makes Stats so easy. I was so worried about having to take Stats, but Dr. Paris's lectures are so simple to understand. Her exams are also super straightforward, and you are allowed to have a cheat sheet. She gives so much extra credit, as long as you pay attention you should be fine
I really liked Dr. Paris! She made stats super easy and is very accommodating. There were 3 exams, but you were able to have a whole paper as a cheat sheet. She has lots of opportunities for extra credit, and she truly cares about her students. She also had a lot of office hours available. Definitely recommend!
LOVE THIS WOMAN. dr. Paris is absolutely amazing. was so nervous to be taking a stats class but she takes her time and explains everything so well. she is unbelievably kind and cares so much about her students. cheat sheets on all exams and lots of oppritunites for extra credit. and I love her voice
She is such an amazing person and really cares about her students but moves at lightning speed while teaching. She does not wait for you to catch up (which isnt her fault) but once youre lost its often hard to catch back up.
Oh my gosh. Dr. Paris is a stats GEM!! She is so sweet and understanding, and she will always listen and help if you cannot finish something on time. Genuinely made the class so easy and straightforward, I would take every class with her if I could. She cared enough to ask US how SHE was doing mid way through. I really cannot recommend enough.
She is so sweet and encourages questions as she really wants students to grasp the material. There were modules to complete each week on Aleks which could be frustrating at times, but as someone that is not great at math she made it doable. Cheat-sheets allowed for tests and lectures are also on zoom. Many opportunities for extra credit as well.
Take Dr. Paris if you are able to!!! Lectures are recorded, many opportunities for easy extra credit, and the “final” is non-cumulative. You are allowed a cheat sheet for every exam and she is so accommodating and kind. You can tell she genuinely wants her students to succeed. If you need to take stats, Dr. Paris is your best option hands-down.
The sweetest person EVER!!! Became the easiest class I ever took because of how accommodating she is. Records every lecture and so many extra credit opportunities that I ended up with over a 100%. Exams were exactly like the practice exams she gives. Gives weekly assignments that are easy (takes about an 30min-1hour to complete it all).
Dr. Paris is probably one of the best professors I've had at Pitt. She gave ample extra credit opportunities, explained difficult concepts very well, and was generally super sweet and funny. Could not recommend her more, TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!
Dr. Paris is amazing! Like she is literally my queen. She is always very accommodating if you cannot get something in on time and tries her best to help if you are confused. The only thing I will say is the ALEKS modules are so extremely hard and frustrating.
Dr. Paris is super sweet and definitely wants you to do good in her class. The grading scale is very easy, exams are exactly what she teaches and reflect the practice problems she puts out and you are allowed one cheat sheet. As long as you show up to lectures, do all your homework, and study for the exams, you will succeed in her class.
Literally the sweetest woman ever. I hate statistics and still did well in the class and that's saying something. Her class is extremely accessible, it's very clear that she wants you to do well. Each exam gets a cheat sheet and she posts exam review slides/practice exams too.
