She's a fun and energetic teacher, very helpful. She was gone a lot though, so we only covered two subjects. If you need a math, I recommend this one, it was fairly easy.
She is like a kindergarten teacher! I loved her, super nice, class is hard, but if you have to take it, take her!
I have taken Kristine for 2 quarters now, going on three in the fall! I love her class. She's extremely helpful and VERY understanding. She's fair and fun at the same time! I recommend taking her. You'll be happy!
She is a really good teacher! I took her for 105 and I am now going for 106 with her in the fall. She makes sure that everyone understands the material, and is really helpful. I recomend her for any student who has a hard time with math.
loved her class, she was a great teacher although she was absent a lot. She is the best calc teacher at clark, so if you have a choice take her!
awesome teacher very friendly and cared about your sucess.. Very through and explained things well
She is the sweetest person you'll ever meet! She moves at just the right speed and if people in the class don't get it she'll stop and explain it. She is also very!! helpful, if you are ever stuck on something, go to her and she'll clear it up!

I just adore her. I have had several math teachers and she really makes sence of it all for me. She is also very willing to help you after class.
This is the 6th math class I have taken at clark and she is by far the greatest math teacher I have ever had here. She explains everything so it just clicks and makes sense.
She is wonderful, and clear when giving explainations. She has lots of patience.
VERY GOOD!! Explains in details. Allows a 3x5 on ALL tests. Counts homework as part of ur grade (easy points!). Some quizes--but they are easy. She cares about her students. Tests are multiple choice!!!! RECOMMEND! 10 of 10
Well...I didn't like her. She doesn't let you make up missed quizzes unless you email her before, and even if you do, that doesn't guarentee she will get it or even reply to you. She collects homework every 2 weeks which is a real drag because in that time you may have 5-7 sections of homework and she will only collect 2. It sucks!
I never really liked (you only like math when it makes sense) math until I took calculus with Barker. You guys, she is crystal clear (what you need most in math)! And plus I have never seen her in a bad mood. Pretty cheerful little lady :)
Good professor, very organized. Teacher takes random absenses. Attendance not required if you get the stuff, but lectures were clear and helped alot on the test. Must study for test.
She is the one to take if you don't do well in math. She takes the time to teach and clarify the material. Attendance is not required but she will give a pop quiz and DO NOT LEAVE CLASS EARLY without letting her know in advance, it is definately a pet peeves of hers. You need to do the homework and keep on top of it to survive.
Explains math pretty well. I get math, but anyone who doesn't will understand everything she teaches. She's never in a bad mood, which can get annoying, but she's nice. Minimal quizzes, but go to the review to do well on tests.
Nice lady. My problem w/ her: explains everything one way. She's also extremely critical on grading tests. If you don't show out literally EVERY STEP, she'll dock you points. Like any college math, your grade relies heavily on your tests which she doesn't let u make up unless u arrange it prior. If u get stuck in traffic and miss a test=F foryou
Very nice, easy teacher. Collects homework once in two weeks, if you in class, do your homework, you will do well in your class. I strongly recommend this teacher. She is very nice.
She is a great teacher.
Most of her lectures are strait examples from the book. Skips all calculations, does not explain how to get there. Has this fake smile, and acts like she cares.Yet she still required for you to know how to do it on the test. Tests verry difficult. tests are 60% of your grade. If calculus is the only class your taking then take her, if not try to av
Try's to make math fun. Difficult tests. Multiple choice final and tests. Can be very sneacky on tests and quizes. If you like multiple choice tests then go for it, if not: try to avoid.
Challenging course. Make certain you have 3 hours per lecture hour to study. Plus one must have group study to make this class. Tricks are on each test, several you have not seen. Will only get nice grade when you understand material at an application level. Sweet smile. But look out. Do not take if you are a slider, slider will fail.
Calc III -Difficult class, not a good prof. of you arn't a fan of math. Quizzes are tough and test are tricky, she has no problem putting things you haven't seen on tests. No calculators allowed, this class is more about survival then learning anything
shes a great teacher, gives a lot of examples to make you understand the topic and how to do the work!
Kristine is a good teacher, but like other students have said, her tests are hard. She assigns a lot of homework, but trust me, it helps. Attendance isn't really mandatory, but if you have ever taken a college math class you know that you shouldn't miss much or else you will fall behind. She is helpful outside of class as well.
Teacher is very helpful not only that she is very bright. I always see her in the tutoring center and she is very sweet to everybody. I highly recommend this teacher for any Math classes that possibly she is teaching. She is definitely one great math teacher and really cares about helping you.
She is a great teacher, she is always in a good mood.
Kristine is an awesome teacher! Her lectures are always super organized and pertain to the homework she assigns. She makes herself readily available to help outside of class and is always extremely approachable. Her tests are hard, but it's calc 3...what would you expect, cake? I would take her again without a doubt.
I love this lady. She's always so happy. Her teaching is wonderful, she really cares for the students too.
Barker is a great professor. She's super sweet, caring, and understanding. She's always willing to help, before, during, after class. She doesn't mind students that think outloud, or need help during class, she has a lot of patience, but it does break every once in awhile.
ok first i love math (dont hate me)next Barker is so sweet you almost forget she's smart too. so with two brain cells + applying yourself you should be fine (i only have 1.95 brain cells and i'm doing great). fast pace due to amount of material so do your homework people! :P oh and show up to class...daily
Kristine is a great teacher. She does a very good job in her explanations and tries to ensure that students are understanding them. I highly recommend her for pre-college math!
She was a very clear teacher. She did an extremely good job explaining a subject that doesn't come naturally to most people. She requires homework though, and not a small amount. I caught on quickly, so the homework felt like busy work. The homework is also part of your grade, not a big part, but if you don't do it, your max grade is a B.
Extremely motivated and excited about math. Very nice and helpful.
1st quiz, all answers correct but got graded down 4.5 points for a notation error I made on one of the questions. She docked a point for each time I made the error in my work and 1.5 points for having it in my answer. She then docked me 2 points for "not explaining my work".Result was 68% on the quiz. What do you want your professors to grade you on?
I have only two complaints: 1) way too much homework, 2) grading is very erratic. Other than that, she is awesome. Really nice, lectures pertain to the material, and she is really helpful. If you don't mind a ton of homework, you will love taking calculus (III) with her.
I love Barker. She's is the best math teacher that I have had thus far. She clearly explains everything and makes a great learning atmosphere. Also Barker is helpful and funny when she answers questions. :) gotta love Barker.
Barker is the best math teacher I have ever had! She clarifys everything up for me to understand and she's also always making me laugh! Barker is the best:)
Mrs. Barker is a great Algebra teacher. I had been out of school for many years and she helped me transition right back into it. She genuinely cares about whether you are understanding her subject and will go the extra mile to help you succeed. I would highly recommend her to anyone taking Algebra I or II.
Amazing teacher! Makes sure everyone understands, which isn't always the case in math, and there's no such thing as a stupid question. She's so funny and entertains some classroom humor while making sure we stay on task. She gives attitude points which has helped us be more positive and can make a huge difference as a lot of people lack confidence.
Barker was very sweet and nice. If you get behind you're screwed, as she will not slow down until you get it. You have to keep plowing through. Kind of disorganized. She didn't match my learning style with her teaching style but she might for you. Lovely Lady though.
Kristine is a little quirky which helps to hold your attention. She moves through her lectures very fast making it hard to keep up. Does not post any notes or grades online, but always got tests back the next class. Very helpful when going over homework questions. I just wish that she would have asked people to be quiet when they were talking.
She is smart, ONLY when it comes to math. Her teaching is all over the place, complete spazz. She is nice and willing to help but her lectures just leave you brain dead. Lot's of homework.
Very nice, makes sure everyone understands and is never upset or seems irritated to repeat or go over anything that she has previously gone over. A LOT OF HOMEWORK, seriously even if you are great at math expect an hour and half at least (I'm a straight A and laser fast math student). Test are fairly easy and is quick to reply when contacted.
Overall she is a really great math teacher. For Calculus get ready for long lectures and lots of homework! She loves math and it really shows and it always happy when students ask questions and doesn't get irritated if she has to go over material again. Tests are reasonable.
Ms. Barker was amazing! I was never afraid to ask questions because she was always happy to answer them and easy to understand. I was a bit wary of taking Business Calculus, but I could not have picked a better teacher! She made calculus fun and enjoyable. If you are looking for a teacher that is friendly and easy to understand, take Ms. Barker!
Barker was a really great teacher and I would definitely take one of her classes again. She is very knowledgeable and committed to helping students understand math. There isn't a lot of homework and she allows note cards on tests.
She gives out tricky True/False and Multiple Choice questions. She goes way too fast for students to even digest the material. I don't like this teacher already and it is week 4.
She is amazing. Easy to learn from and eager to help if you have questions. Highly Recommended!!
I took Kristine for my Calculus 1 class. She is a great person and it's obvious that she cares about her student's success. She even has changed several tests so that we felt we would do better on them. She tries to answer all questions and while attendance isn't mandatory, I wouldn't miss a class only because math (Calculus especially) builds up.
She's very fast. You may have to ask her to slow down lots of times so you can copy the notes before switching pages. She does post them online later. Her tests are weighted poorly, more than 100 points with only a 6-7 questions. If you make a small mistake, you get a harsh point penalty. Would not recommend unless you have a good math foundation
Professor Barker is super caring and probably the nicest lady I've met. Very sweet and always cracking a funny joke or two during class. Only negative is her grading: I was struggling the whole quarter. She's super picky about the grading and that's why I always got pretty low scores on the test. She marks down points for every little mistake
Barker is the nicest lady ever. She constantly cracks herself up during class, and is really funny to listen to. She gives a normal amount of math homework for Clark, which is a lot. It's not too bad though, and she doesn't even collect all of it. Tests are worth majority of the grade, so study up before those.
I took Barker for calc 2 & 3 and she is my favorite math teacher ever! There is a lot of homework but she only collects a few sections at every test day. She gives out a study guide before the exams and some review problems that you can look up in the book. She doesnt allow a calculator on the tests but she keeps the #s friendly. Take her class!
I took Professor Barker for Calc I and III, and she is one of the nicest professors at Clark, hands down. Great lecturer, average amount of HW for a math class, and very approachable if you have questions. Her exams can be tricky sometimes and you have to earn your A (generally no EC), but she will prepare you well for future classes.
I had a super rough quarter when I took this class. Kristine was super understanding and helped me as much as she was able. She really cares about her students and wants them to succeed. She doesnt let you use calculators on the tests but the numbers are super friendly so it doesnt really make a difference. Definitely recommend her class
Kristine was a fantastic teacher. She is amazing at explaining things, and she is vey understanding. She's not only interested in the students, but she honestly loves what she teaches. It is nice to have a teacher that thoroughly loves what she is teaching. This was my fourth quarter at clark, and she has been one of my favorites so far. 10/10
Very good professor, had her for Math 148 - worked on getting me into the class I needed to be, posted powerpoints on Canvas to access if you needed to miss class, though provides homework help and walks through with answers to make sure class is successful. Hosts study groups.
LOVED professor Barker. Shes really nice and sweet and cares that you understand the content. The class was pretty hard and you really have to give it you all if you want to do well in that class. Theres no make-ups for tests and quiz so study and show up. Overall very nice lady.
I took her for Math 148 and it was rough. She doesn't post grades online which makes it hard. And on class days before a test, we would go forward in the book and have to go over a new section before the test. I didn't like how we didn't really review before a test.
Her tests are hard and she grades strict. I've failed calc 1 and 3 with her but have done fine with other professors. She is really nice but doing homework and going to class aren't enough. You're going to see harder problems on the test than what's on the homework. I suggest you study extra material outside of class to have a full understanding
Kristine Barker doesn't have lecture videos, she instead has slide decks for you to download that are atrocious. Expect to self-study. She grades quizzes extremely harshly, and while the Web-assign homework is easy, it doesn't prepare you for her tests or the final. Getting 100% on every homework means nothing. Study hard, avoid her if possible.
Forgot to rate her till now. This professor has a clear, linear class structure. Uses WebAssign instead of the broken MyMathLab. Assignments clearly prepare for tests, if you do the graded homework you will have all the studying you need. Clear and concise lecture slides. Clear and concise expectations. Clear and concise canvas page.
Her methods of teaching are difficult to comprehend. Lectures are from PowerPoint pictures and not interactive step by step videos. 1 bad quiz is dropped. Not lenient to quiz rescheduling because of this. Final consists of trick question multiple choice. Select a few/all choice questions that give no credit at all unless it's 100% right. Avoid her
Professor Barker’s teaching style is not suited for online classes. Uses confusing and unhelpful PowerPoints, which are about as effective as teaching yourself using solely the textbook. No feedback on quizzes, which account for a lot of your grade. Nice person, but you’re better off using YouTube to self-study.
I took Barker for Cal 2+3 and I wish I could have taken her for the 4th. Kristine is super caring and while her PowerPoints are a little interesting (with voice overs) she keeps the material on the tests pretty similar to the notes and hw assignments. She seriously curved the final at the end of the term and that was super helpful.Highly recommend.
This teacher will challenge you. Most of the grade is weighted heavily by the tests. If you don't test well then avoid her. She does answer your questions but sometimes it is like pulling teeth. You may get an answer but it is never direct and she will always have you look at 3 different things first before she answers the original question.
Worst teacher at Clark college. On two quizzes I got all the right answers but on one of them I got marked down 25 percent over minor errors in showing my work. On the other quiz I was told I didn't need to show work at all and said it was based solely on answers, she marked me off 30 percent. Her explanations are so bad, quizzes are size of exams.
Quizzes are size of exams, horrible at explaining anything and PowerPoints don't cover half of what web assign asks for. WORST grader ever, 25 percent off for very minor error in showing work even though the answer is right and she can make an obvious conclusion on what I did. I used to like math until this class.
Two quotes from one of her PowerPoints, "I don't think I'll prove that" and "just swap the x's and y's and make one negative" quite literally the worst teacher. She seems nice but is insanely picky although her teaching, for lack for a better word, is ass. Homework is always 20+ problems not covered in PowerPoint.
VERY QUIZ HEAVY, you are required to be perfect to pass with an A. She will mark you down any chance she gets on written quizzes, all multiple choice questions are trick questions. Avoid her.
Hybrid. Did zero teaching, I taught myself. Makes us download PowerPoints with her voiceover just reading the slide. Tough grader: a small mistake can cost your grade to go down. Quizzes are 50% of your grade which is absurd. She removes the lowest quiz score. At the end of the quarter, she does curve the grade if she sees that you deserve it.
Very sweet professor and cares about her students. Adjusts class based on how far students have gotten in the material. In-person is dedicated to group work and quizzes. Her PowerPoint can be hard to navigate. Tests can be difficult and make up for a large portion of your grade. You might need to watch outside videos to understand the material.
Take note of general downward trend in her ratings since the pandemic! Highly confusing lecture videos where she briefly/verbally goes through material, massive homework sets ALL term, extremely picky grader (which does make you more careful), her hybrid class is essentially a web class w/in person testing and little in person instruction.
She marks you down for everything on quizzes and tests. Youtube videos are more helpful than her lecture material.
Just try your luck with her.
The online class uses the archaic calculus textbook everyone else uses. The teacher "teaches" through videos and powerpoints, that are usually non-functional or glitched out. Exams are write down on paper and take pictures to scan as a pdf, and usually give little time to do so. If you have to take this teacher, good luck.
Professor was nice but not a great teacher. We learn by slides and book on our own time as we meet once a week. Meetings were for group work where we work through problems together by table. Slides seem outdated and unengaging. I found the examples unhelpful as well. Calc 3 concepts were tricky for me to grasp so I don't blame it all on her
She grade on the most unnecessary details that set your grade back a bit. And her test are not like the homework, she constantly has questions that are different from the home and grades harshly. Would not take her ever even for online
In my class, we had 3 exams throughout the term. On those exams, she put questions that weren't covered in the neither her lectures or the homework that was given. It made the class unnecessarily difficult because no matter how much effort you put into studying, you wouldn't know how to solve the questions on the exams and the final.
Kristine is a tough professor to take, especially for a class as hard as Calc II. She will ding you for every bit of notation error and the tests are quite long for the amount of questions on them. Her redeeming quality is she will go above and beyond to help you. She is very accessible outside of class and good at finding where you're going wrong.
Professor barker is polite, but uses the least forgiving grading system that I've seen at Clark. The midterms are worth 25% of your grade (which is not unreasonable), but the final exam is worth a whopping 50% and you are not allowed more notes than were allowed for the midterm exams. Homework assignments regularly numbered in the dozens per week.
