Hard tests, Final project was unreasonably hard.
lots of extra credit

Class was fun up until we hit arrays and then we were doing useless bull. Flow charts are the stupidest things I have done in college. The programs that will take you 3 or 4 hours to program in C could be done in 30 seconds in Excel.

She can't teach
Time consuming assignments where you don't learn anything about C. It takes more time to figure out what she wants than write the program
not an all out terrible teacher, but she assigned a lot of seemingly pointless stuff. plus she projects her voice, both in lecture and lab, so bring your ear plugs. she gets frustrated when you ask for help
I thought Dr. Craven was really good about answering questions. Though some programs may not seem directly useful to her class, they are very beneficial to helping one think through steps which is important in later engineering classes
Horrible teacher, programming isn't bad except that she teaches it. One word for her and it starts with a B.

The class is hard but if you make a decent start on a program and take it to her office she will finish it for you. Lecture is boring, but you can learn nearly everything in lab, so unless you need a nap dont worry to much about class.
Just do the work and you will pass, do your own labs, that way you know what is goiing on, if you let your partner do it all you will be lost.
She's a good teacher. Yes her class is hard, yes the homework takes up time. Make sure u get a good base in the material b/c the end of the course gets rough..GO TO THE EXAM STUDY SESSIONS!!! She'll answer anything you want and even drop some hints.
Teaching may be unclear at times, but she does give lots of extra credit, if you did OK in physics this class will be a breeze.

Do the homework? The homework takes 4 hours for just one problem! Dont ask her questions in person because her breath smells really bad.Dont even bother taking notes, just admit you screwed up when you entered the call number for her class on Eagle On
Well, I think her problem is, is that she knows too much and tends to have that smart elic attitude. She's got 4 degrees, so she's bound to have an ego. I suggest asking students for help. She tends to be a little fussy at times.
Not the best personality, but pretty clear on the material. Homework can take an ungodly long time, but is rather easy. Watch out for the programs on the tests.
A good instructor. Does a good job getting things across. I have read some comments here of students complaining, and all I can say is Whine, whine, whine! I have never seen such a bunch of back-biting, critical babies. Go get a pacifier!
Very nice person. Awful instructor. Truck loads of homework involving plotting imaginary routes in your imaginary spacecraft to imaginary planets while dodging imaginary flying baboons. Very intelligent and thinks everyone else in college should be too.

I am taking BE 1110 Engineering Graphics with her. Lectures are a little boring, but as long as you listen, you will do well. I didn't study for the exam and got an A.
dont disturb her in lab while she plays minesweeper, she gets mad. i have never had any sort of graphics class and i know much more than she does. she is very inconsistent. you have to learn what rules she wants to break and what rules she wants to follow
You want to talk about whiney babies, watch Wes Craven in action as she stomps her feet and squawks at Autocad when it erases her lines. I just had to laugh.
(dum dum ditty) I think this is what is going through her head ninety percent of the time. (dum dum ditty)
ITS THE KEYBOARD! She complains about the keyboard not working when actually it is operator error. Give a monkey enough bannanas and it could teach better than her. She gives exams that are way too long. She even sets in on Rose's class and takes notes.
It's not her fault when she screws up, its because the computer is to slow for her. Gets annoyed if anyone has a question during lab. (to busy playing mindsweeper) Take another professor if at all possible.
Ah! Did that keyboard hurt you? Do you need a sucker? Ill give you one... NOT!!! She is the most unhelpful person i have ever seen!
stupid guys... and she doesnt much like to help the students. she just rephrases the question that she was asked. just take someone else or be ready to do it all yourself

If you are the kind of person who may possibly ever need to ask a qeustion about the material we are paying $2000 a semester to be taught then DON'T TAKE HER, she rude, inconsiderate, and places the blame anywhere but on herself
Avoid her if possible but if you have to take her just try really hard and you will survive. She doesnt really seem to always understand thermo herself.
First of all, Ms. Craven is not an enjoyable person. She knows enough to teach the drawing side of Graphics, but has a very limited knowledge of the AutoCad software. If you had a drafting or graphics class in high school you should try and test out of this course. *Excellent sleeping opportunity.
Dr. Craven should be teaching no higher than 6th-grade art. It is my opinion (having myself taught at the college-level for 15 years), that Dr. Craven's teaching ablility and knowledge of engineering are pathetically lacking.
dude she is pittiful. she knows nothing about engineering. we taught her new stuff. take someone besides her! (unless you know something about autocad, then just take it to sleep!)
NUH-HUH!! Not going there.
You will want to smack her in the face with an iron rod every time she opens her mouth. She would make incorrect statements and defend them as if they were the gospel. She grades every assignment differently. She gave me a D on the final project, but after she looked at it again I got a B. DUMB!!!!!
If you took drafing in high school you know more than she does. Just show up to the lab and it's an easy A.
she's ****y and impolite. if you have to take her, you'll live, but i would avoid her if possible
she does not know what shes talking about. if anything she looks at her book teachers manual and copies from it
Craven is horrible. She has no clue what she is doing. She assigns programs for homework that she has trouble solving. She daily has to ask the class for help in solving an example that she says is easy. She doens't even show up for lab. I was lost.Do not take her!Drop the class if you have her.
I even knew more than she did in our graphics class and I have no idea where to start when it comes to computers. She tries to be nice but just ends up looking dumb.
Teacher knows nothing about C. She does not know anything about structures, switch case statements, and dynamically allocated memory. Plus you have to program everything the "way the book does it" or you will get points taken off. She constantly complains about how "Fortran is so much easier than C". The midterm was the final from the first C class
For 1 program, she docked pretty much the whole class 15 pts for not creating a flowchart. The program's instruction sheet said nothing about making a flowchart. When I asked her about it, she said that she put it on WebCT. The only problem is that she forgot to click "make visible." Thanks for making changes to the assignment and not telling us.
What ever you do DO NOT take Dr. Craven she does not know a thing about how to teach 3D auto cad. if you take her class go to a book store and buuy the Autocad for dummies book! you will learn a lot more from it than you will from her. she knows how to draw but DOES NOT know 3D at all.
I don't know how Dr. Craven ever got a doctoral degree. She doesn't know what the heck she is doing. I passed with a good grade but it was not because of her. She is just a bad teacher. Nice in person though.
Does not understand the concepts of C herself, so don't expect much of teaching. All she did was assign programs that we were supposed to create in class with very little lecture. We didn't learn anything new. The class was just busywork.
Wow. This woman has no idea what she is doing. In lecture she will draw something, mess up several times, and not explain what she is doing. In lab if you ask a question she looks at you like your stupid. Just glad I had high School drafting. I wouldn't recommend her to anyone.
Avoid her at all costs
Ok I didnt think it was too bad in AutoCAD, but now we are in mech desktop. She had to split us up into 2 groups for the lab so we could use the compy w/o a partner. 25 mins to do a fairly simple assgn. 1st she showed up 10-12 minutes late. 2nd she screwed up the dimen on drawing. I asked what was gonna happen, she said sorry. GJ I failed that half
If you have the misfortune of spending 15 weeks in the company of Dr. Craven there are no words of comfort that I can offer you. She is possibly the most unpleasant person I have ever met. Don't bother asking questions. Answers are in short supply. Condescending looks however, are unlimited and readily available.
The labs really aren't hard. The homework can be a bit much but she usually gives you the weekend to complete it. Over all tests aren't too hard either. I'd say if you acutally show up to class you should get an A or B.
I took 2 yrs of drafting under a retired ME of 30 yrs and I could not believe how completely incompetant this proff was. She constantly made up rules that have NO application to the workplace, weighted homework rediculously, and always seemed to have learned her lecture subject an hour before class. SHOULD NOT BE TEACHING THIS CLASS.
Class is alot of work, and I didnt really enjoy it. However, it would be a lie if i said she wasnt extremly helpful. If you attend lectures, you will have a pretty good understanding of the material and she always helps in lab if you need it. Sometimes stays after to let you finish labs for a few minutes, which is nice.
Lets just say that out of all my classes I took that this one was my lowest grade. I don't think I made an A on any of the HW assignments because it was impossible the way she graded. No extra credit or bonus points for anything. I hated asking questions because she'd give you a look. I don't recommend her!
I really wish there was a different teacher for this class because it seems like any time a student asks a question, it is immediately shot down with an "are you kidding me, you obviously didn't read the book" type of answer. For some reason, she always seems to be in a bad mood and it is reflected through her responses to questions.
Hated her. Watch out for her breath.
She is a black hole of knowledge. After taking this class, I felt like I lost several braincells.
craven is a very rude teacher she does not care what you think its her way or no way no matter what the book says
I have her for a programming course. You would think sitting at a desk and not helping anyone is her teaching method. She needs an attitude adjustment and we need a different teacher for this class because i loved the first programming class and now that class is my dreaded evil class that i want to leave school early for. Way to go Craven.
I had this teacher for graphics, and she does not need to be teaching. She is by far the worst teacher I have ever had. SHe does not know anything about graphics. She told students about once a week that something could not be done that I do every day at work. She does not need to be teaching.
does not understand subject and her teaching suffers because of it
I took her class and have to drop after attending 3 lectures in a week......i think she is weared....i think she should open her own "beauty sallon" as thats her side job and be professsional in that instead of teaching and spoiling students carrer....that really soots her...never ever take her class......
Terrible. How can they keep her?
Very hard to follow. Take someone else unless you are good at teaching yourself from the book.
What a joke! This lady can't even work a problem without the solutions manual. Yet she grades ridiculously on problems she can't even do! HORRIBLE teacher! Doesn't know what she's doing at all. Why why why does she still have her job??? Outrageous....
Dr. Craven is the worst teacher I have ever had! I often wondered why she wasn't taking the class instead of teaching it. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!
she is one of meanest professors i've had. she is rude and hateful for no reason and is always in a bad mood. makes a easy introdutory class hard and pointless and spends more time trying to fix computer than teaching class find someone else for anything she teaches
First off, theres no reason to smart off and be hateful to a bunch of kids who are trying to learn when one of them has a real question. Next, she makes a class thats supposed to be easy unneccisarily hard. She rambles on and on about who knows what and expects you to understand it and remember it for eternity. Shes a bad teacher and poor person
Its unfair to real professors at this university to call her an educator
What a terribleWhat a terrible excuse for a professor. She has very minimal knowledge of the programs we used. In fact some students in my class have had to teach her how to do some steps in the programs. Also when you ask her a question, expect to get a rude answer back, she will act like it is a complete inconvenience for her to take time out of
Let's just put it this way... I made my first "C" ever in a class i thought i would make an "A". Make sure you get another teacher for this class. If you have never seen auto cad before then you should definitely choose another teacher. You will have to learn from others in the class that have seen it before. She is absolutely no help.
Worst Instructor I've ever had. I will be very happy the day she is fired, and I will throw a party. She is one of the few people I have the nerve to tell them that they suck in front of their face.
I will be very happy the day she is fired, and I will throw a party. She is one of the few people I have the nerve to tell them that they suck in front of their face.
Dr. Craven is infamous at TTU for being a horrible professor. But I went in there with no expectations and it worked. Yes, she is extremely unclear; and yes, you will have to teach yourself a lot. Yes, it seems like she hates answering your questions sometimes. But if you work very hard and drill her with questions, you will make an A. I did.
Craven is a tough teacher. She is somewhat unclear when teaching the material during lecture. During lab, she is VERY helpful, but the student HAS to get her attention in order for her to help. All you have to do is raise your hand, and she's very willing to help. You have to teach yourself most of the time because she doesn't explain it well.
To save you some time reading all her reviews, let me sum it up for you. She assigns difficult homework and labs and does not usually give enough time to do well on them. She grades harshly and there is no extra credit. Watch out for her breath, its lethal. She needs an attitude adjustment, but be a **** back to her and she will respect you more.
The worst professor I have had out of the 5 colleges I've attended while in the military. She waddles into class like king Sh@# on turd mountain, fumbles around on MATLAB for an hour learning it on the fly, and gives tests that she couldn't even pass. Not to mention her grading depends if she is menopausing that day. I don't recommend her to anyone
She takes very little time to actually learn what she is doing. Lecture is watching her learn MatLab for the week. You get very little time to work on a project the right way, and have to BS most of it. If she explained herself the projects might be easier, but you would do better to teach yourself.
Doesnt know what she is doing. The class has to help her fix her own programs half the time, and the Xetron project was just completely overcomplicated and vague in what she wanted. I do not recommend to anyone.
Biggest waste of time EVER. She is a terrible professor, Avoid at all costs! She didn't even know hot to use the program she was supposed to be teaching us how to use. When you catch her on a good day, she will help you... if you're the only one around. But usually her assignments are so confusing, everyone needs her help. Get a hint, Craven. AVOID
When asked questions she responds hatefully due to her complete lack of knowledge about the subject. Also any grading errors on tests are blamed on her graders (she takes no responsibility as university policy requires) also made comments like "I have tenor so your comments don't matter to me" when teacher evaluations were handed out.
SO Pretentious. Hateful when you point out she is wrong, which is often. She does not know the material and gets lost/drops numbers when doing examples. Most of her time i'm sure goes into running a barbecue shack, not a hair salon like everyone thinks because she is so fat.
been putting this class off for a while now. I have a 3.3 gpa its my senior year and my hardest class was a freshman programming class. it should not be like that. grading was very hard. a relative of mine that programs the missle defense systems said what we were doing was extremely advanced for a freshman class with zero teaching. do not take!
Came into class with high hopes, since it was my first semester at TTU. What a fool I was. Calc and chemistry was easy as cake compared to this class, mainly because you teach yourself 100% of the material. AVOID her at all costs. Or else suffer the consequences. The homework, labs, and exams are the hardest I have ever done. Horrible teacher...
Dr. Craven is very nice, IF you show her the respect she deserves. The class is difficult; her examples sometimes seem a bit short, but if you are stuck or struggling she is very willing to help. She can be short at times, but I believe she wants her students to learn and when people don't try to listen it irritates her, but she tries very hard.
Never and I mean EVER take her class for programming. She is as clear as mud and if asked about an issue she will refer you to the book which isn't much help if you don't understand what's going on.
Dr. Craven is a very difficult teacher but wants to make sure you understand how to program. Is very willing to help you if you go to her office. May come across harsh but students also don't give her much respect either. If you want to be worth anything in your later classes for programming you will learn something in her class.
She does not teach the material. Unless you already know how to use matlab and write computer programs do not take this course. Her expectations are absolutely rediculous. I decided to drop the class and take it with a different professor.
Hands down the worst teacher I have ever had. I cannot believe this is a freshman course. I knew this class wasn't going to be a cakewalk but i was expecting the professor to at least teach the material. She doesn't explain the material well and her labs/tests do not resemble what we review in class. If you need this class take wells
Worst teacher I have had in my life. Never had a teacher act more hateful and rude. Raise your hand in lab and expect to get a very unclear condescending answer. I do not see why she even teaches.
Dr. Craven is awesome. I heard she sucks for matlab but for thermo shes good. She gives test corrects and though they are hard you get most of your points back. I have gotten 100+ on two exams. Sit in the front row and ask a lot of questions and she'll like you.
Dr. Craven is everything you don't want in a professor. I don't care about how rude she is or any of that. It's the way she runs the class. She is very uninformative and comes off as indifferent as to whether you understand what she is saying or not. She's awful.
Dr. Craven can be difficult. Not the best teacher I've ever had by far but still not the worst I've had by far. Her tests were relatively easy and she doesn't grade harshly. Honestly thought I failed an exam but I made an 89 on it because she graded it so loose. Wouldn't want to take an upper level class from her though.
It's just an intro class, so you can't really mess it up fortunately. I consistently get drawings back with a point or two taken off with nothing notated as to being wrong, so not the clearest grader. Her lectures kind of confuse her too it seems, like she hasn't familiarized herself with the material since the previous year. Overall- Not Too Bad.
Dooooooooooooooooooon't take any class with her.
Dr. Craven is the worst professor EVER! She acts like she doesn't wan to be there and she gets mad if you ask her a question! DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!!!!
Worst teacher EVER EVER EVER !!!!! DON'T TAKE HERE
A rough semester in terms of difficulty. She knows what she is teaching though so no need to fear failing unless effort is not put in. The lab is where your main practice is but drop in to her office for speedy and accurate help. She grades leniently and offers great extra credit opportunities. Tough for sure but you WILL learn
WORST TEACHER EVER !!!
Mean-- makes fun of students who ask questions. Do not speak up in class, she will just yell at you and make you look dumb. I dropped the class and will wait for someone who actually likes to teach.
Dr. Craven is a terrible Intro to MATLAB professor. She is very condescending to students and she tends to belittle people who ask questions, and if she does choose to answer, she answers very vaguely. In lab, if you ask for help, she will just fix your program without explaining. She assigns homework without giving you the information you need.
If you actually want to learn this subject she is probably your best option.
told us to study for exams using her online practice quizzes, online quizzes had wrong answers, when we tried to inform her she said that they've been up for years and nobody's ever said anything so she wasn't going to bother fixing them. not helpful. textbook used for maybe one hw problem and a few optional lab excercises, good for studying though
she help a lot more than any professor you have she let you correct your test then submit it again + review if you solve it you will get 10 point added to your grade she is the best for thermodynamics
She gets a bad reputation. Not for the students who want to just glide through the semester. If you DON'T want to learn, DON'T take her. Gives hard test, but allows for test corrections to get your points back (i.e. a 60 can become a 90) Take her if you want to know the material, and make Thermo 2 a joke.
Shes a great teacher for thermo. She explains things well. I heard not so much for graphics but no body at this school really teaches graphics well because its such a dumb class. She gives you a review which gives you ten extra cred points on your exam grades AND test corrections gets you half the points back.
Do your homework, go to class, study. If you mess up on your test, it's okay, you get to make corrections and get half credit back. Oh, and you get the chance to get more extra credit if you do the test review. Craven is great for Thermo 1. 10/10
Craven was a very scatterbrained teacher. Often times she wouldn't even know how to demonstrate the topic for the day on inventor or AutoCAD. The class was unnecessarily hard for only being a two credit hour course. You will learn the material, but she is in no way an easy A.
This is a very brainy woman. I learned from another professor that she was tested with an IQ above 140. Ha! No wonder the dummies in here can't understand her.
Great professor! Allows test corrections to make sure you understand your mistakes.
Very bland. Does not care about her students for Engr. Graphics. Tough grader. I got snapped at for asking a "dumb question." I have heard she is good for thermodynamics. Not good for Engr. Graphics. Should be an easy class, but she makes it harder then it has to be.
DO NOT TAKE HER!!!!!
Take Craven for Thermo 1. Tests are hard but she gives you a review for 10 extra points and then lets you correct tests for half points back. If you work hard, an A is definitely attainable.
Doesn't seem to be able to answer questions without having her solution manual. Makes tests very hard, and says gives partial credit but not much. Overall, with her bonus point opportunities she does make it hard not to do well.
Dr. Craven's class was one of the best I have taken. She has a very straightforward approach, and teaches largely by example. Her class requires a fair amount of work to complete the assignments, but they will prepare you well for the exams. She grades fairly and offers points for reworking exams. You will obtain a firm grasp of thermo.
A little confusing, but overall is a good professor. Her class was a video chat class on Zoom, so it was hard to find good solid help. Was overall a good experience, would take again.
She does not teach nee topics well at all and leaves it mostly fizzy. Also, she does not give good grading corrections. Labs are very difficult. She goes ways faster than other teachers And tutors dont know how to help. I recommend not taking class. Only take this class if you are highly independent. Also, when you ask for help, she is mostly rude.
Dr. Craven is excellent! The flow of lectures, homework, and tests are perfect. I think she is more than fair with grades, plus she teaches very well. You need the book, you can use it for tests. But it also has a ton a good information. Make sure to be in the class Group Chat, it will help a lot to use classmates for help. Concepts build so study!
Her class is difficult but if you do your work and show up to class you will be fine. She will be happy to help you whenever you need help. I think people dislike her because they do not receive easy As like they might have been expecting from other professors, but truth is you will leave this class having actually learned something. DONT BUY TEXT!
I took Dr. Craven for the ETSU-TTU degree. Dr. Craven is a good professor on her own, but if you are taking this class at ETSU as I am, then your TA will make the class a lot harder or easier. I personally didn't have the best experience, there was a lot of miscommunication. But, she does a good job of lecturing and showed great care towards us.
I have had her for 2 classes and do not like her one bit; my entire class both semesters felt the same way. Im also at ETSU, so Im not sure how much harder that makes it. Regardless, I dont feel she teaches well, shes made mistakes on hw, quizzes, and test that have affected us and then blamed us. Shes rude and shes just ugh. I dont like her
BEST for Thermo I. Her class made the FE Exam a breeze. Course is a lot of work, but she offers test corrections so you can redo any problem for 1/2 more credit. Super intelligent & has a really well-thought-out course. Must attend class every time for notes. Never made a B on tests taken the 1st time but made an A+ in the class w/ test corrections
Extremely frustrating. Lectures are the only source for in-class notes, as they aren't posted separately outside of raw videos. Tests require all problem solutions to be handwritten without the aid of MatLab to speed the process. The first test was claimed to be able to be finished in under an hour, yet would likely have taken at least two/three.
made the class crazy harder than it should've been. The only class that I can do everything for the assignments and still not pass. Avoid taking her at least in ENGR 1120 if possible.
Kristine Craven is the worst professor I have ever expirenced. Avoid this class at all cost. She does not know the material she is teaching and many times people would ask questions and she could not give an answer. One time she told a student to figure it out because she did not have time to explain it. AVOID HER AT ALL COST.
Hardly learned anything during lecture because she didn't explain it. Labs were extremely hard and take hours to complete because you have to learn the material on your own. Even my advisor said that this class does a ton of work for only 2 credit hours. Craven is not a good teacher and this class will make your semester suck. DONT TAKE THE CLASS!!
Directions often unclear with missing dimensions on iLearn drawings. Quizzes on SolidWorks steps felt unnecessary and too specific; there are too many ways to complete a feature to ask for a certain order of steps. Previous SolidWorks experience isn't considered, which makes the whole thing more tedious (especially with SolidProfessor modules)
Dr. Craven is fantastic at making you feel bad for not understanding things that she fails to explain properly. She is passive aggressive and condescending, and while she is knowledgeable in the content she teaches, she does not make it feel as though she is happy to share that knowledge with you.
The class with Professor Craven is challenging, but using Unstuck ai alongside the free textbook can be really helpful for staying on top of the material. The lectures aren't the most engaging, so be prepared to put in the work to learn the content.
Class does not have attendance, only the lab does. Of course, if you miss the class, you will have absolutely no idea what is happening in lab. Honestly Im surprised she has so many negative reviews, as she is my favorite teacher of my current semester. Very helpful in lab and tells you how many points in the class there are so you can calc scores.
The sweetest ever. I loved her. She was so fun. She doesn't take attendance in lecture but does in lab. I recommend going to the lecture because what she covers there is normally really similar to the lab. No tests, just the labs. If you are willing to work and ask questions, you are good.
