The most thought provoking teacher I have ever had. Sharp cookie, and young. I learned skills which will help me in the corporate world and command respect! Her humor is deep. She thinks out of the box! I have never had a teacher who could break things down so well. I have such gratitude/respect for her. I feel blessed!

I took her as and online class. Yes there is a lot of work. Was it easy work, yes and when I was confused about something and would write to her about it I got a response back right away. I highly recommend her as online, but don't know how she is in class, but how she is on her online video lectures seems like a very nice person in general.

Very funny and nice. She will go out of her way to help. She always answers emails and fast. There is alot of work but it is easy and you can get through it. she has podcasts and etc that help out to. I had her for the face to face course. There is also extra credit, it is easy! Keep an open mind and your will do fine, I highly recommend her!

This was a very easy class, as long as you do ALL of the work there is no reason not to do well. There was a small 1 page assignment for each book, a midterm, final and a large paper due. The paper is large but there were group workshops as well as appointments available to see her. Discussions were always interesting! I recommend her.

I took Shakespeare class with her, very easy to get along with. She is smart and you will learn alot, BE INVOLVED WITH CLASS DISCUSSIONS. If you have any questions on homework or finals, MEET WITH HER during office hours or email her. She is very good at getting back to your emails and she is VERY good at bringing out ideas from your head!

I found Professor Oliveira very helphful and the work she is teaching us as very enlightening. The class is new to me, so I am having to change my way of thinking but she is a great instructor and always willing to help you understand anything you are having problems with. Without the office hours I do not know what I would of done, they help.

This on-line class was challenging and interesting. The prof provided many resources to excel, and she was always friendly, personable, and responded to my Skype chats with much help and humor. The texts were affordable! Her tests need some editing for errors, but overall a great prof. I would take her again.

5 plays, Sonnets, Reactions for each, Midterm, Final and Drameturg's Book. I've worked the hardest I've ever had for this class, and I'm a science major. She has so much energy for the subject, though. VERY hard grader, but WOW her with final project and dive deep into interpretations. I suck at these things, so I had to work really hard.

This teacher reminds me of how I am. She is so full of energy, just like me, but she has more energy then I do. She makes the class so much fun. And No!!! Her class is not easy, That's why you need to study and do the work. DUHH!!! She is the most coolest teacher ever.

I took this class last Spring and it was a great class, I went to class excited everyday. She has so much energy and she's so so funny! She's tough, but you learn loads. The coursework isn't too bad or even hard at all, the Dramaturg's Book is rather difficult, though. If you don't work/communicate with her though, you will be graded accordingly.

Although she makes you work hard, she truly engages her students. She is very energetic and always treats you like an equal. She does expect you to do well and she does have a lot of essays, but it was the one class this semester that I looked forward to attending every week. Highly recommend her!

Kristine was very fun! I hated writting papers, but with her help and sometimes ADHD teaching style, I loved this class. The work can seem at times very hard, but she is always willing to help out. If you haven't already, Take Kristine!!!

Not my kind of class but she's a good teacher. She's energetic to say the least. Show her that you care about your grade by doing the work on time and talking to her during office hours. You write a reaction for each play but they're not hard. Study for the tests. The dramaturg kicked my butt but I managed to pull an A in the class.

Kristine is a great teacher! She was always there to help you through the papers and always gave great ideas on what to write and how to approach it. It wasnt a cake walk but I would do it all over again. She is so into writing it kinda gets you pumped for the paper. Just do ALL the work(8summaries+extra cred.,3 essays,mid+final)and you'll be fine&

Kristine is a bright progressive teacher. You have to be willing to work. I worked hard. Shakespeare is not easy! She is enthusiastic & fun. U cannot turn in blank pages! I liked her naturalness and she is not a phony nor overly critical or hateful. She likes people. You have to get work done though, and put your all into it.

Oliveira is inspiring. She wants you to learn & expand your horizons. The material may be difficult at moments. She has open book exams. You must create for her dramaturg books--give something of your own! She is going to get 2nd Masters though, so will not teach here again or maybe never. A+ for enthusiastic teaching and a tolerant attitude

GREAT instructor. I had AP English courses in high school and this class really enhanced what I had learned there. The class wasn't easy since it was Summer School but it was a good class. Too bad she's not going to be teaching here again for awhile but whoever has her will be lucky to have her.

I loved her humor.If you did not understand a concept, she would explain it in a way that would make sense to you. Animated personality.If you need to take an English 101 class I highly recommend her.She may not be the easiest, but she is not the hardest thats for sure.If you have never understood the fundamentals of English,you will with her.

Kristine is a great English Teacher! She inspires and motivates her students to do more than the standard essay. Her mandatory one on one office hours really help- she wants to see her students progress and is proactive about it.

She tells you exactly how to start ypur paragraphs and really helps you prove your points clearly to your audience.'

I studied abroad with Kristine . You may find her intimidating at first, but get over it because she has been one of the most influential people I've ever met. Not only is she extremely intelligent and respected by students, but she's also hilarious and inspirational. This woman changed my life. Thanks Kristine, you rock.

Complaints are from those who are lazy and don't work their butts of to pass. She is hard but you learn SO MUCH. She's extremely clear in what she wants and she expects you to do what she wants. If you don't then you don't get a good grade. You like challenge? Then take her, she's awesome and hard but it's worth it if you want to learn.

If you've got complaints your crazy. She is hands down one of the best professors I've ever had. The work load is completely doable and you come away from the class knowing a ton, if you really want to. She knows what she's talking about and got you excited about Shakespeare (who does that). Seriously though she was great!

She AMAZING, the passion she brings to her lectures keeps anyone going, she's very straight forward and so funny. I will be taking her as much as i can. I liked the fact that we can pick one of two essays to write for 3 essays :) She's very descriptive and will make you understand what you're reading.

Unique professor!!!!! She gets right to the point with all of the work but she also makes the class go by really fast because of her sense of humor. She really cares about her students and her passion shows naturally for her English career. You HAVE to show up , do all of the work and pay attention to everything she tells you in class.

Prof. Oliveira is unorthodox, but to me that is a good thing because she keeps it interesting. She is very passionate about her craft and that can seem a bit intimidating. During class hours she does not allow much discussion of non-class topics, but if you have a question about an assignment just ask and she will elaborate.

Theres reading and writing but its an English class so of course. She was my first teacher at AVC and I was super anxious about college she helped reduce that.

She is the coolest teacher I've taken at AVC her lectures are interesting and you can voice your opinion on different subjects. Honestly, if you show up and do your work you should have an easy time doing the final paper because that's what you focus on in class.

I do not understand the bad reviews of prof. Oliveira. She is one of my favorite profs for sure. She was truly amazing! I was so concerned about the 8 pg. ethnographic research paper but she made it doable by breaking up the paper in parts. She truly cares about her students & wants to see them succeed. I would take her again & recommend her.

I took Professor Oliveira years ago for English 099. She was super chill and laid back. Smart, witty and has good taste in music. I remember her being very helpful. Clear on her expectations though. Just put fourth the effort and youll do just fine.

Professor Oliveira was an excellent professor. She does her grading at the end of the semester which is never racking to not know your grade but if you do all your work you will be just fine. She assigned a long research paper for the final but she breaks it down to make it easy to accomplish. I highly recommend taking her she is an amazing person.

She is a very easygoing professor and definitely not a tough grader. You honestly won't learn much in the class but it is an easy A if you're taking it only for general requirements. The workload is totally manageable.

She is such a great professor! She took the time to answer all of my emails with questions very quickly, which I appreciated. All four of the essay's instructions were clear, making them easy to write. I believe I became a better writer with this class.

Extremely helpful, you can tell she wants her students to do well. There were discussions every week and all the assignments posted had lenient due dates. Def gave more than enough time to complete assignments so there's really no reason to struggle in this class as long as you do the work. She answers quickest through Canvas messages, not email!

Writing assignments on canvas, super easy. Can turn in late work for full credit. I was nervous to take this class,I am not a good writer but I got an A. She's the best!

I took her class as a dual-enrolled high school student. The course was challenging in all the right ways but never overwhelming. She doesn't assign excessive reading assignments just manage your time well, and it's very doable.

I HAD HER FOR ENG 231 Amazing loved her class lots of reading but worth it and the assignments are easy 1discussion post a week with 2 replies and end of semester 1 presentation with slides and you record basically a voice over on the slides and turn it in very easy. Loved her class if i ever could pick a teacher to stick with it would def be her

She provides constructive criticism on work and grades fairly. Assignments can be challenging at times, but never completely impossible due to their complexity. She responds to emails promptly sometimes, she's understanding and allows late work without a problem, weekly 2x discussions, and freewriting are easy points.

she was great understanding and so open to listen. she shows compassion and was my 1st class i took ever in college I didn't have a laptop, and all my work was done on phone I felt supported and listened by her. she is willing to learn and is very lean and easy.
