She's a fairly effective professor at communicating the concepts and fundamentals of the material. Her tests were somewhat difficult as they strayed a bit from the lecture and texts at times. Overall though, an effective and friendly professor, she'll work with you if you think you got an unfair grade.

A very interesting teacher. She was usually very nice and helpful with anything you might need, and the tests were tough but fair. The material was pretty interesting for anyone interested in basic politics and government introduction, but it was also taught during the 2008 election, so much of the class revolved around the events of the election.

I'm not sure why this professor is catching soo much heat. Truth of the matter is that she is very knowledgeable, and passionate about political science and history. Are the classes difficult? Yes. Absolutley best teacher I've had! She is so passionate about what she teaches and because of her I am now a poly-sci major! Her lectures are interesting and she does not lecture with her political beliefs (unlike every teacher at fau) and she's absolutely brilliant! Not to mention she looks like kim kardashian

Professor Shockley was always so excited about everything she taught. She even tried to learn everyone's names in a 200+ lecture class. She knows what she is talking about and makes sure you understand too. Her work isn't difficult nor is it time consuming. If you do the online assignments and listen intently to her lectures, you will get an A!

Def easy on the eyes, weekly essay and readings, 3 test, but do required work and pass no problem!

The class was challenging because of the material we had to learn but Shockley made it so much easier because she actually cares about her students and actually cared about teaching. She's awesome! Hilarious stories about her family. She makes her class interesting. She doesn't take attendance but just go to class! Record her lectures if you need to (this was very helpful for me). Study the quizzes for the tests and READ BOTH BOOKS (textbook and reader). Class is half online and half lecture. Attendance is not mandatory but highly encouraged. Went to class 3 times and ended with a B+. Offers plenty of extra credit and the online assignments really helps your grade. Tests are challenging and both books are highly recommended in order to do well. She's a great professor who really cares.

Absolutely fantastic! By far the best professor I've ever had! She makes things interesting and is willing to go out of her way to help you in anything you need help with. She truly loves to teach and loves students who want to learn. If you take her warning: she is very passionate about teaching so don't BS her. If you're genuinely interested in learning then take her every semester like I plan to; she accurately describes her upperdivision courses as "boot camp for law school and grad school".

She yells and curses a lot, but she tells stories about her kids to make things interesting if she feels people are getting bored. If you're interested in world politics, take this class! I rarely attended class after the first exam, but from the times I did attend, the classes were pretty interesting. She's a very loud individual, which is helpful for a morning class, plus she curves exams. Here TAs are the absolute worst though, especially Jane ! I asked a simple question via email and she replied with nothing but ATTITUDE !

Excellent professor. Very informative, knew a lot about the subject. A lot of online work, but it's all based on readings. Quizzes online as well. TA's weren't as amazing though. Nonetheless, this was was great and I will take Shockley again.

This course is probably the third class I've taken with Professor Shockley. She is by far one of the most interesting and knowledgeable professors I've had at FAU. Although political science at times can be a bit dry, she really grabs your attention explaining in a way that is interesting and relatable.

Very passionate about the subject, makes the lectures very interesting. She is loud and curses a bit (which was awesome), it keeps you attention since the nature of the subject can get dry at times. Textbook is required to do work on blackboard and really understand everything. Mid-term and final are multiple choice with essay.

Probably my fav professor at FAU. She's really cool and relatable, as well as very knowledgeable of the subject. Participating in class will help you a lot, and she likes that. Great teacher! Lectures are really interesting. Make sure you attend them as what she says is very helpful and is as important as PPs which are online. She's LOUD so you won't fall asleep in her 8am class. Exams are not too hard however long and you might be surprised my some questions. HW is time taking but easy points. Expect a lot of reading.

Shockley is always engaging students and making class interesting. She makes you actually WANT to go to classes vs. dreading it. Definitely willing to help if you need it and always providing EC opportunities. Attending lectures is definitely recommended as she hints at things that will be on the exams.

Professor Shockley is a hilarious professor who swears more in one sentence than I have in my entire life. She is extremely blunt about everything in World Politics and does an excellent job teaching the class. The midterm and final can be tough, especially if you don't like the subject, but there's plenty of chances to raise your grade.

Professor Shockley is a great teacher for INR2002(Introduction to World Politics). She can make some of the more boring parts of international relations interesting and easy to understand. She is loud, so no issues sleeping in class. Don't need book, she honestly announces all the important info from the book and repeats it til its remembered.

I'm a biology major who took this course not really expecting anything great and thought it was just going to be plain boring but Professor Shockley inspired me to change my view about politics and be more involved. Her tests are easy if you go to lecture and you can find the answers to the online quizzes on quizlet. There's plenty of extra credit.

She doesn't take attendance, but she does test on what she says in the lecture. 2 tests: I got an 86 on the midterm, 68 on the final, overall got a 92 in the class because of all the extra credit. Extremely easy class if you do the work and review a bit for the tests. I only attended 3 classes. (first, midterm, and final) and got a 102% in the class. Half of your grade consists of outside work. It takes up a good amount of time but is graded lightly and consists of 50% of your grade. Take this class with a hard class to help your GPA

Definitely take her class. She is absolutely amazing. She is interesting to listen to. There's a lot of online homework assignments, but they are very easy. Two tests are super easy if you attend class. I got a 96 on the midterm and a 99 on the final. I did all the extra credit, which she offers a lot of, and I ended up with a final grade of 105.

Do all the work online work 50% of your grade. There's is just Midterm & Final not cumulative. Read and do online work and no penalty for late work just email her.

Professor Shockley is the most influential and inspirational professor I have had thus far at FAU. Her lectures are interesting and enlightening, there is never a dull moment in her class. Her grading is fair and constitutes; 2 map tests, 6 case studies, participation, a Research Paper, a midterm exam, and a final exam.

Shockley makes the class interesting and you really learn a lot, just show up to class & takes notes. She also gives a TON of extra credit, its almost impossible to fail. Take her!!

Professor shockley is literally a goddess. So willing to help her students and is very understanding and willing to work with you if you need more time, etc. She is quick to answer emails and makes lectures fun and tolerable. i wish i could take her again

This class has a lot of material. You could get overwhelmed if you don't pa attention. Do ALL the extra credit (or most of it) and you will pass the class! she offers plenty of EC. Prof. speaks REALLY fast! Match her pace and you'll be fine. She's very passionate about the subject and will make sure you understand it. Loved her stories too!

I have taken Professor Shockley twice. I absolutely love her open communication and willingness to help students out. Her senior level courses are ten times more difficult than her INR2002 class, so be sure you have the time in your schedule to complete her assignments. Take her if you can, but her keep in mind coursework can be overwhelming.

Her class was made of 2 critical thinkings, 5 current events, 9 online quizzes (w answers on quizlet) and 2 big exams. Overall, EASY CLASS.

If you skip class you miss out on almost all of the important information but she doesn't take attendance. There is a considerable amount of homework but you'll get through it as long as you don't procrastinate. She's hilarious, nice, and breaks down information to the point where you understand it.

Dont make the mistake of buying the $75 textbook, all of the quizzes are on quizlet. Take good notes by going to class and you'll get an A.

Hybrid class, each week 1-4 assignments, 1 midterm, 1 final (extra credit opp opportunities on both). The assignments are usually short but sometimes very long with 2 -3 paragraphs for 1 question. Her lectures are entertaining, she gives out ALOT of extra credit, she is very caring as well. TO PASS THE TESTS YOU HAVE TO SHOW UP AND TAKE NOTES!!

Her lectures are so great and funny, would def take again!! DONT buy the book, all exams come straight from what she lectures and reinforces in the critical thinking assignments. Grading is very fair in this class just do all the homework and she is very good at responding to students and understanding. There is no way to fail this class!

Im a literal Communications major and I decided to take this class due to hearing great reviews about Shockley. Attendance isnt mandatory but I showed up to every class and got an A while knowing people that didnt show up and getting low Bs and mid Cs . Her tests incorporate key lecture information!!

I highly recommend INR with her. She is HILARIOUS and her lectures are never boring. She gives a ton of extra credit throughout the semester, but you CANNOT skip class. Her lectures go very in depth so make sure you attend so you can pass those tests. The homework is lengthy but shes very lenient on due dates for those.

I've taken Shockley now twice; both INR and now Comparative politics. This class goes over everything she states in her syllabus and will help you understand politics and will help with your major in the future. The class consists of 10 quizzes, 5 critical thinking assignments, 5 current events, 3 case study papers, and only 2 tests. I recommend!

She definitely makes you work for your grade but she is really sweet. She cares about her students and always gives extra credit. You have to study for her exams and her critical thinking questions are a hugggeeeeee pain but shes still great. Her lectures are never boring. Take her!

Spring 2020 (COVID-campus closure) semester: We had 2 multiple choice exams with extra credit, about a dozen other EC opportunities, 5 or 6 multiple choice easy quizzes on Canvas, and *a lot* of 300-word short response HW questions. Attend her lectures!! Almost everything she says is on her tests. She doesn't waste time on unimportant topics!

Amazing Profssor. LOTS of extra credit and really cares for her students. Allows late work without penalty. Attendence is not mandatory. There is weekly online work which does take an hour or two but its time consuming not difficult. Midterm and Final are easy if you study and follow the reviews.

If you have the chance, take her. I was kinda iffy about taking a politics class because the previous ones I've taken were all really textbook heavy and boring. All you need to do is listen to her lectures and when she says "alright guys this will be on the test". She gives out so much extra credit & emphasizes learning over memorizing random facts

No busy work, everything is super useful. Assignments take time, but they feel so worth it. Take her if you can, shes simply the best.

Shockley is great! This is my first college class as I'm a Freshmen and a summer class, but she made the transition seamless. She is clear and her lectures/powerpoints cover everything you need to know for homework/test assignments. Plus, there are a ton of EC opportunites available. Really wish I could've taken this class in person!

You have periodic writing assignments based on some not-so-straightforward readings, which get tedious, but nothing too difficult. Pay attention to lecture, she tests some questions based on what she says (not found in the book). Lenient with due dates.

Prof Shockley is the most understanding teacher everrr!!! You have to try VERY hard not to pass the class. Her quizzes and critical thinking assignments are mostly dependent on her lectures, which I loved because she teaches things a textbook can't. If you have the opportunity to take a class with her, DO IT! It is a very inclusive environment.

Hilarious, Approachable, and genuinely wants all of her students to succeed. Professor Shockley takes an otherwise boring subject and packages it into a very interesting, digestible, and useful course. Introduction to World Politics was a 3 hour lecture but time flew by as she's comical and easily relates many concepts to real-world scenarios.

This is the BEST professor you could possibly take. She is super understanding with her students and knows her stuff. There are two exams and an essay portion on the exam. There is a good amount of critical thinking but she always discusses it in class. You will not be disappointed with this professor. If I could take every class with her I would.

May have been an "online class", but you HAVE to attend or watch the zoom recordings (weekly)! She says you need the textbook, but if you watch the lectures & take notes youll pass with no issues. Ignore the previous rating. Professor Shockley is amazing. On the first day she said the class was reading/writing intensive, so if that is not for you drop the class. The answers are in the recorded lectures. On top of that she gives extra credit. She extended due dates SEVERAL times so she is flexible. Gives feedback on every assignment.

Must attend lectures to pass the test. She is very forgiving when it comes to late work and give out lots of extra credit. Their are 2 assignments and a quiz due every week .

I wish Ms. Shockley was my professor in all my classes. Made zoom calls each week enjoyable and engaging. Highly recommend taking her. You genuinely have to try and fail this class she gives so much extra credit and gives you tons of time to send assignments in.

I LOVE PROFESSOR SHOCKLEY TAKE HER. She is an amzing lecturer and genuinely a good person. The TAs are very lenient they just want you to do the work and put effort into it. When I was on here I saw someone recommend Unstuck AI and its super helpful so thank you to whoever that was.

Professor Shockley is an outstanding professor. You can tell she truly cares about her students and wants them to succeed. Britney, her TA, was a fantastic. She gave a few lectures during the semester, and I really enjoyed them. I can't thank them both enough for the help this semester and I have learned so much! Thank you both for a great semester

Im taking the U.S Presidency with her, and she is my favorite professor I have ever had. She is so sweet, and very knowledgable, and you can tell that she loves her job. I will most definitely be taking her again.

READ IF YOU SUCK AT HISTORY** Think of a third grader's knowledge of history, I knew less than that. I went into this class thinking I would struggle heavily, but this is the first and only history class I have ever passed. SO MUCH extra credit opportunities and seriously doesn't let you fail. You literally have to try to get below a B

Professor Shockley was excellent! I really like how the material is delivered. Her upper-division courses are very challenging but worth it. She gives so much extra credit, it's insane. Although she is a tough grader, she wants to push you and provides amazing feedback, which is something I respect greatly. A lot of work, but you also learn a lot!

Shockley ROCKS. Do NOT take this class with anyone else but her. She takes attendance, it's worth 10% of your grade. HOWEVER she offers so much extra credit that it's practically impossible to get below an A. She releases quizlets before the exams- USE THEM. Very lenient on late work- and overall an awesome professor.

Easily the best professor I had this semester, she is a great lecturer, makes me actually want to learn and go to class, and she gives tons of extra credit, I ended off with a 103 and could have gone higher. Make sure you listen in the lectures as she will tell you exactly what you need to write on the assignments and exam essays to get credit.

Loved Professor Shockley's class. I usually struggle to stay awake or engaged in lectures, but she makes everything fun and interesting. She's passionate about what she teaches, explains things clearly, and always offers plenty of extra credit. I actually looked forward to her class. Highly recommend!

If you are able to take a class with Professor Shockley, you 100% should take her. She is one of the best professors you will have in college with an extreme amount of care toward her students. So much extra credit and guidance all semester. Having Professor Shockley my first year in college, really made me feel comfortable for more to come!
