She is really nice and helpful. Very quiet and kind. I liked her a lot. She uses very helpful examples and is a good teacher. I would suggest her.

I don't exactly enjoy psychology but I thought that prof Dean made it more interesting. Very kind lady, and very knowledgeable and helpful. She uses a lot of videos as examples which helped a lot of people. I would recommend her for PSY101.

You're only allowed to miss a certain number of classes before she starts counting your absenses against you. The class was very easy. Negative: she teaches class as though she's talking to five-year-olds, and she encourages discussion to a point where it gets annoying.

Easy subject material overall. Her lectures are pretty slow - sometimes it gets kind of annoying, but she's a very nice lady and will definitely answer any questions you have. She gives extra credit, too. It can get kind of boring, but I prefer sometimes boring to a really difficult class. I recommend her.

She's very quiet, but a well knowledged prof. She is always willing to help! her class lectures are very boring and she only goes over one topic, when we're quized on the whole chapter. She shows videos in her class though, which help! she gives lots of extra credit opportunities and you don't have to go to every class period to pass.

She designs her class so that even if you bomb a test, you can still get an A. I got a 63% on the first exam, and with extra credit and doing all homeworks, I have an A- going into the final. She was always understanding and used examples to help understand material. I do reccommend reading the book though, and doing study guides.

She goes over 95% of the material and provides study guides--to get an A, you do need to read the book. She's very available and offers extra credit opportunities. I found the exams slightly difficult though. She's not boring but speaks gently. If you want to learn, she loves the subject and research. Papers are relatively easy.

You really do have to read the book very carefully before every exam. The questions on the exams are not definitions, rather questions that make sure you can apply key terms to story problems. I learned a lot, not the easiest class. Very rewarding though.

She is an amazing professor! She is very helpful and is very clear on how you will be graded. There is only 2 inclass activities, and she hands out study guides for the tests. If you do them, you'll ace the test. Go to class! If you don't, you'll miss things that aren't in the book. All in all, she is a great prof!

Very nice professor, but lectures were extremely boring. Make sure you attend class because there's 5 in class assignments (5 points each). There's also 2 research papers. She provides study guides for all exams, which is nice too. Make sure you read the book though, unfortunately it's the worst book ever, but it's needed for success in the class.

Attendance not mandatory, but there are a some in class assignments for easy points you won't want to miss. I think it would be pretty hard to get a bad grade with her.

Really nice teacher. Could probably pass the class without actually reading the text, just going over power points and looking up main topics in book. Several in class points as well as a video/book assignment (paper). Grades pretty easy and tests are not too difficult as she posts a study guide with the topics you should know for the test.

This was a really interesting class, and I really liked professor Dean. She is helpful and very clear on what she is looking for in assignments. Tests are multiple choice and we did a lot of small group in-class assignments and had a few short papers.

SO EASY. I think I ended up with a 106% in this class. Like any PSY class, as long as you read, come to class, and study the terms you're golden. Two papers (not overly difficult), Three exams (gives you the study guide, study it and you'll get an A), lots of in class assignments to boost your grade, and extra credit papers. Loved her!

I went into this class with no background on psychology what so ever. You had to read a chapter every week but you could get by not reading as long as you attend class every time. She is very nice and seems to want every student to succeed in her class. I received a B- in the class with 100% on the assignments and an F, B-, and D on 3 exams.

She is a very sweet teacher! Her class was very easy, but I learned a lot! She has a lot of assignments, so it is easy to get a good grade in her class!

Kristy Dean was a very good professor. She provided all the information you needed to know in class through her powerpoint slides. The homework load is fair and reasonable. She is also very kind understanding! I enjoyed having her as my instructor.

Dr. Dean is the sweetest, most understanding, helpful Psych. professor there is. If you print out her (note) outlines and study them, you'll do good on the exams. Psych is 1 of the most failed classes, so I recommend Kristy 100%! Awesome lady.

Professor Dean is clear and overall a great teacher. She gives out study guides for every exam. Although her exams are all multiple choice, her test questions can be tricky. She says "okay" wayyy too much and it's really annoying. But if you can block it out, you'll be golden!

Her lectures are very informative and you don't really want to miss them unless you can get the notes from someone else. Gives you a lot of opportunities for extra credit. Great professor, she understands that PSY101 is an intro course so she does not make it too difficult. Doing the homework and review guides for exams helps a great deal. Is very approachable and I enjoyed the class being somewhat easy compared to what I heard about other intro PSY courses. Definitely recommend her!

Attendance is mandatory and she does random and unannounced in-class assignments. There aren't many opportunities to boost your grade so studying for the exams is a necessity. She's very helpful, but the only bad thing is that she talks in a very high pitched, monotone voice that gets annoying quickly.

Kristy is great. I ended the class with an A. You really just need to study. It is definitely one of the easier PSY 101 professors here. All my friends had strictly only tests and having to do a few HW assignments really helps your grade. Very easy and nice teacher. Take this class!

Good professor I took Psych 101 once before and I got a B- with a diff proff. and studied alot.. for prof dean I did the study guides and did a few hours and got an A. I would deff recommend her to anyone. do the extra credit I got 2 A- and 1 B+ on the exams and ended with over 100%

Kristy Dean is one of the sweetest professors I've had. If you ask for help, she will go above and beyond to make sure you're understanding the material. Her tests are a little tough, but she gives practice quizzes and study guides for each one that I would definitely take advantage of. Some in-class assignments, so attendance is advised. LOVED HER

Professor Dean is one of the best professors I've had at Grand Valley. She gives study guides before each exam with all the information you need to know, so spend time working on those. Attend class because she gives in-class assignments. If you have a question, approach her after class-she goes above and beyond to help!

I took this class as an 8 am, so yeah I only showed up once or twice a week. There was a total of 11 in class assignments for the semester and I only was present for 6 and still got a B+ in the class. Read the chapters and take notes in class and you will do fine!

I had Psychology & Culture with professor Dean. The class was easy to get an A in (I didn't show up for about 13 of the classes; it was an 8am, but regardless don't be like me) but I still learned something from it. Her powerpoints are very straightforward and easy to understand, and her exams were fairly easy, as well. Extra credit is offered.

Great professor. Her lectures are interesting and she gets the information across. She gives study guides for exams and you don't get a lot of homework.

Her lectures are good and she is a fairly good professor! My only warning is that her exams can be a bit confusing- but they're nothing to be too afraid of. Also beware of how she grades essays. She will mark anything/everything as plagiarism. I was going to get a B+ in the class but she (unfoundedly) tore our group essay up and ended with a B-

Dr. Dean was surprisingly easy grader/professor. However, watch out for plagiarism in your papers and be sure to pick a good group for the group paper! Her lectures notes don't correspond with the test either, making most of the exams (3) straight out of the book. She provides a study guide also so put more than one day into it! Deff recommend.

TAKE PSY 355 WITH DEAN! She is very nice and gives clear-cut lectures that help with studying for exams. She gives in-class assignments for 2 points each but almost no homework. She also gives you study guides that help SO much for every exam (including final). There is a group paper towards the end of class, but its harmless. Take this class!!

Dean was a pretty good PSY prof. She had lecture notes that she gave the outlines of before class, but nobody used them bc she only had partial slides. She also had up to 16 EC points you could gain by writing a paper. There is a final group project paper, so make sure you get a good group and DON'T PLAGERIZE (she loves docking points for plagerism

I really like Prof Dean. She's a very nice lady. I did not find her class very hard. Do the extra credit and stay on top of things. She gives a great survey of material. She's really sweet and caring.

Professor Dean just reads through slides most of the day in class. She expects everyone to read the book before class, but most people don't. All of the quizzes are online, but are actually pretty hard, even with the book and the internet. The tests are pretty hard even with a study guide. You can easily get a B if you put in the work.

Professor Dean was very knowledgable and has a very clear grading policy. In lecture she was always engaging and frequently stopped to ask if anyone had questions. If you study, stay on top of doing the homework assignments and do the extra credit, you should do great.

Her lectures were very easy to follow and understand, but her tests were challenging. She will test you on information directly from the book, so you need to do the reading. Prof Dean is adorable! She is so sweet and her class is very easy. I skipped class quite a few times as I had it as a MWF, but it's very easy to catch up if you simply get the notes from a friend. She has occasional in class assignments, but they aren't worth much and can be made up with extra credit. I loved having her and wish I had her for 101!

Dr. Dean was an awesome professor! She made sure to ask at the beginning of every class if anyone had questions about homework or about the course in general. There were in class assignments worth two points and they were fairly easy. She gives a few opportunities for extra credit but you have to be in class to get it sometimes. High recommend!

Professor Dean is really a top-notch professor. Her lectures were always engaging, and I actually enjoyed coming to class. Everything was tied to an example, so everything had real-world applications to it. Attendance isn't mandatory, but she does offer extra credit for some of her in-class assignments. Kristy is super sweet and understanding. The course material isnt excessively hard. She is passionate about psych and it shows in her lectures. She cares about her students and is accommodating. There are only a few homework assignments and you get to pick which ones you want to do. Hardest part of course is participating in psych research somehow.

Professor Dean is a really nice lady, but is unreasonable with the amount of work she assigns and giving group papers when there is a pandemic. She grades really tough and is obsessed with catching people "plagiarizing". She is a good, knowledgeable professor and I recommend her but just know that her class is a lot of work.

Good prof. Gives good lectures, very knowledgeable, soft spoken, easy to learn from. I really enjoyed learning from her. Put the lectures on 1.5x speed and you're set. The only problem is she is very odd when it comes to grading- incredibly strict and obsessed with plagiarism. Other than that, I loved having her as my professor and learned a lot.

She is an amazing professor for psych because she really cares, you do need to get the book for discussion posts and quizzes, but you don't need to read every single word of the book. I would highly recommend her, she assigns easy work like 3 point discussion posts and 8 point quizzes each week, so as long as you do your work, you will be fine.

She is one of the best professors I've ever had! Her lectures were very clear and engaging. She gave amazing feedback that was encouraging but also helped you improve. My class was fully online and she recorded her lectures so you could watch it at any time.

Had Prof. Dean last semester, she made everything very easy and was very adament about reaching out if you were struggling, especially with COVID changing a lot of stuff. Interesting class. There's an individual paper and a group project. Both are easy. Quizzes every friday, all open note and open book.

Professor Dean is organized, interesting, kind, and one of the best teachers I have ever had. Per week there are 2-4 lecture videos, 1 quiz (8 pts), and 2 posts (3 pts each) along with a few extra assignments, a final test, and extra credit opportunities. The class is engaging and very easy to understand if you just listen and do your work

Easy class if you do the reading. Study guides helped me tremendously and I got an high A on every test. Assignments are so easy. Find the right members for the group project and you'll get an A on it. All the info for the test is gone over in lecture. Got out of lecture's early almost always (only a 50 min class).

PSY 349 was a great course. There was a midterm and a final and 2 papers that were not super long. And each week we did two short discussion posts. She provided study guides for both exams which was helpful. She is also very willing to help students when they need it. Extra credit is offered

Very caring and understanding professor. I was hospitalized for a few weeks, and she gave me extensions to make up for any work missed. HOWEVER you HAVE to read and take notes, otherwise you won't do well on the exams, which are pretty hard. You also really want to attend lectures, but missing a class or two won't end you. Overall, great prof!

She is the nicest person EVER. There are small weekly assignments and then 3 tests and a paper. The tests are not easy, however, if you study and go to an office hour session you should be fine. She also gives really good feedback on papers before you turn them in. The lectures and content are also super interesting and clear.

I didn't like PSY 101 not because of the teacher, but because it's such a broad class that covers everything when I'm not actually there to learn about everything, just about social psychology (unfortunately my minor in psychology doesn't care about that)

One of my favorite professors, with only three homeworks due per semester the grading is hard but she offers many extra credit opportunities. Very clear that she cares but the best bet is attending class and paying attention and you will do good.

Professor Dean was GREAT!! She offers so much extra credit and the review guides are literally exactly like the exams. If it isn't on the review guide it won't be on the exam - which is super nice!! Lots of info given at lectures, so it's kind of annoying if you miss class because the notes are not great online. She will say you should read the textbook every week, but I never did, I just did the assignments I had to, took notes in class, and studied the study guide and it was totally fine.

Professor (Dr.) Dean was an amazing professor. She made it hard to fail her class because of all the extra credit. Even if you didn't show up to exams... the homework, extra credit, and attendance points would still get you a very high C. She cares about students and understands that we other classes besides hers. Go to her office hours!!
