Really not a difficult professor. She's pretty cool and laid back. Gives lots of extra credit opportunities. Studying for tests/quizzes is pretty straightforward. She pretty much tells you what'll be on it beforehand and it's up to you to make sure you know the stuff.

Best class ever. Interesting material, great professor, easy to make an A...What more could you want? I didn't need the book AT ALL because I went to class everyday and took good notes from her lectures. Soooo much extra credit....TAKE THIS CLASS!!

It is a really fun and easy class. She hands out image and vocab lists that are basically every single thing you need to know for tests and quizzes. Also, as everyone else mentioned, she has tons of extra credit opportunities.

Before taking this class, I wasn't really interested in art. After taking this class, I really like it now. This professor makes the material interesting. The quizzes and tests aren't really that hard, but you do have to come to class everyday and take notes to do well.

Masten was a great professor, I wasn't into art prior to attending this class,now i AM! You have to come to class so you don't miss xtra credit ops, but overall easy tests (if you memorize the artwork). Take her if you need an art credit- it was a great class. I'm taking the next one too! Grades aren't in it-but A is pretty much what i have now.

She is a great professor. I was in her honors class and she organized the class as an open discussion forum. No tests but we had some projects instead.

I enjoyed this class very much; learned a lot of things about art that I've seen all my life. The iinstructor made the subject clear and interesting; quiz every Wednesday, couple of projects and a short paper. Read the book, take the quizzes, attend class. You will learn a new appreciation for the art around you.

I took this class not knowing anything about art and I have actually learned a lot. She is a really good teacher and as long as you attend class you should make an A. I would take her again and recommend her to anyone.

Holy crap this has got to be the easiest A imaginable. She makes it really interesting and it may seem super long and like alot of notes but just by listening to the lectures or grabbing someone elses quick notes you'll pass. Just show up once a weeko Wednesday for the quiz and your good!

HONORS! No tests, no quizzes and NO FINAL EXAM! It's a seminar format with student-produced quizzes for sections in the text book. :D Definitely an easy class, but also a very fun and enlightening one! Read and you will get an A!

This was by far my favorite class this semester. The information is interesting and I learned so much in this course. Professor Masten is an amazing teacher. The class was easy, but I felt like it was the perfect example of how all courses should be run. I really recommend Professor Masten.

She will say that textbook is required,but if you go to class you do not need it. This class is an easy A if you attend. She gives 10 question quizzes every week,the final is also a 10 question quiz. If you need an art credit and don't know what to take just take one of her classes. I learned alot and enjoyed it even though im not an art major.

Excellent professor, but perhaps her projects should be a bit more involved/difficult. If you show up to class and study your notes, an A is easy to obtain. Prof. Masten makes the topic interesting for many of us non-art majors as she knows the subject in great detail and presents her lectures in a professional manner.

Easy - Don't need the textbook if you come to class. Quizzes once a week but no exams. You can even skip the final because she drops 2 quizzes. Random extra credit for attendance but attendance not mandatory. Take this class from her! especially if youre just looking to get an easy A for your core requirement art class.

Wonderful Professor! She helped me appreciate and understand art so much. No tests (not even a final), just a weekly 10 question quiz. Quizzes are based on the lectures, so attendance is suggested, but not required. Didn't use the textbook at all. I definitely recommend her class!

Textbook-don't bother buying it. Attendance Mandatory?-only on quiz days. Extra Credit-yes, sometimes a detailed Q on the weekly quiz, sometimes it is to look at the art in the art building. Quizzes-1 every week, 10Q, not too easy, but not too hard either, its art. No Exams-final is also a 10Q quiz, optional (she drops 2 lowest).overall-good class.

Kristy is one of the best professors at UTSA. Before taking this course, I had no interest in Art. She made this class so entertaining that I have a new appreciation for art. You will need to attend class for notes, but She makes it worthwhile. Take her and you will not regret it.

Its pretty much an easy class as long as you attend every class, listen very carefully & take detailed notes. She has a quiz over the weeks worth of notes. Im not an art major but i really enjoyed this class for an elective. FYI- dont leave class early she will call you out & shes serious.

You can have you cake and eat it too in this class. Dull class to begin with but fun/interesting near the end. Grade wise I studyied the day before each test and my final grade is A. Low stress class, very nice.

Great class! I signed up just for the art credit but it turned out to be easy and very interesting! My only neg. comment is she sometimes treats her students like they're in high school. She gives cover sheets and walks around the room to check for loose papers. Also, be on time or don't go at all. Other than that though, she is a really good prof!

Great/Nice Prof and Real Easy class. Theres 12 Quizzes but she'll drop lowest 2. No Final Exam just quizzes every week. Class is Mandatory so take notes. Can't use your laptop. Treats you like a HS kid(but who really cares). Dont buy/rent a book cuz u dont need it, but take good notes n pay attention.

Easy class. Has 12 quizzes, and a project. she drops the lowest 2 quiz grades and explains the information well. You don't need to get the text books unless you plan on not going to class. Class isn't mandatory until the day which you take the weekly quiz. She provides some extra credit opportunities, but I doubt you will need them. Take her!

Awesome professor, how a professor should be! Will talk to her students, has a passion for Art and makes class interesting when you think it could be boring. Drops 2/12 lowest quiz scores. If you go to class it should be an easy A. Don't be late because she will call you out. She expects respect but she will respect you in return. Recommended!

Easy class. She's a little dull, but easy to understand. No need for the book the quizzes come straight from the lectures. Weekly quiz but no test, no final, no papers to write.

Great lectures. Keeps it interesting. Quizes every Wednesday over prior week material. Don't bother paying for book if you go to class. Print the powerpoint slides and take notes on them. Cheaper by far than the books. Be on time and don't plan on leaving early or she WILL call you out. She has a passion for Art and it shows. Take her.

NO TESTS! only quizzes once a week over the material covered that week. attend class, print the powerpoints, take notes and youll get an A. only counts 12 out of the 14 quizzes so if you do well on the first 12 then you dont have to take the last two! great professor who loves Art History and shows it, a MUST take!

An amazing professor. I took her modern art course and i love it, you can tell that she loves teaching and she enjoys listening to students comments. Overall is an easy A, attendance is not mandatory but if you want to pass you should go o glass everyday since the quizzes are over powerpoint material.

Renaissance/Baroque: Highly recommended. Quiz every week 14 total, no exams, final is the last quiz. surprise group activities. Optional extra credit is a short essay. drops lowest 2 quiz 1 activity. Covering only two lectures, studying for this class is a breeze. Iron fist professor requires punctuality. Will kick you out if you're late.

Do not miss class! Do not be late! Super easy and interesting class as long as you go and take decent notes. Quiz once a week and 5 class activities. 2 dropped quizzes and 1 dropped activity. normally gives one extra credit. As long as you go and pay attention in class and study notes 10min before quiz you should get an A.

Kristy is very smart and passionate about her subject. There are no tests, only open-note quizzes and group activities. She stresses that you need the textbook, but you really don't. I never bought it and made a very easy A. The class was actually very interesting and insightful. I HIGHLY recommended Kristy Masten for the required art credit!

Class was very interesting and kept a fast pace (it was a 3 week may mester class).Textbook was helpfull and would get it again if I had to. 6 quizes, 6 in class activities. Lowest grades of each droped. Easy A!!! I wish I could take more of her classes. She was great!

She is just awesome! I had noo interest in this class prior to taking it but she made it SO interesting. I am even considering taking another AHC class with her just because. Her grading policy is fantastic and she makes it easy to pass, you just have to go to class to get the notes. I highly recommend her!

I am an Art History major and I will be taking as many of her courses as possible. She is very clear to understand in her lectures and she engages students. Knows what shes talking about. Brilliant. Can't say that about some other AHC professors unfortunately. You will learn so much in her course if you listen, participate and attend class.

Masten makes Art History so interesting. There are NO TEST, just quizzes. I used to study the material 15-20 mins before class, and ace the quizzes. Easy A.

She is super nice and her lectures are interesting. The material is easy to understand and she offers extra credit throughout the semester. Definitely read the text and go to class because she will put things on quizzes and exams that she will say in lecture but is not in the book. Take this class!

I am a freshman pre-bio major. I took Intro to Visual Arts to get the "Creative Arts" credit and I am so happy I made this decision. There are no tests in her class! The course consists of about 4 quizzes and a "final" quiz! The final quiz is not even comprehensive! She gives interesting lectures so you're rarely bored! TOTALLY RECOMMEND

I love Professor Masten! Her Art Prehistory-1350 class was great and super easy. All you absolutely need to be in class for are quizzes, which are on Tuesdays, but every once in a while she'll give a random in class assignment for you to do with a partner, so choose your skip days wisely. No final, only quizzes, none are cumulative! Easy A for sure

I took this class online and really enjoyed it. Small groups for discussion board posts. Weekly quizzes over the reading. Answers come straight from the book, typically less than 10 questions so they are heavily weighted. Group project at the end, but fairly graded as an individual. Extra Credit is offered! I would take her class again!

Young knowledgeable teacher keeps the class interesting, and she is professional and relaxed at the same time.

Masten knows her stuff. You can ask her some random obscure question about art and she probably knows the answer to it. She grades well and offers a lot of bonus points. Just make sure you dont skip class. book is not necessary.

She was a great instructor. She found a way to make the material so interesting, and I was eager to hear her lectures. You just need to make sure you show up enough to get your in class assignment points. A few out of class assignments were assigned but nothing too crazy. Just go to class frequently and the quizzes are a breeze. No textbook needed.

Awesome teacher, she was always enthusiastic to teach class. made everything super clear and fun. She gives out an activity every class as attendance or a quiz. Easy A! would take her again in a heart beat.

She is a great professor. There was no final for my class. The grades are determined by your performance on the in-class quizzes. They are VERY easy if: You have great memory or you take decent notes. A detailed outline of what you learned that day would suffice. ATTEND CLASS! She hands out simple in-class assignments each class period. No Book!!!

I have taken professor Masten multiple times because I like her classes so much. You don't need a book but it's crucial for you to go to class since her quizzes are over her lectures. There are 7 quizzes, no tests and no final. If you take notes and pay attention it won't be hard to make an A!

This professor is so great. I really enjoyed her class and I learned something new everyday. I am pretty familiar with art so I found it really easy but even people who have literally never taken an art course before could get an A in this class. She is super cool and easy to follow so I totally recommend taking this course.

Be VERY Careful selecting your group for the end of semester 'Picture Book Project' You also have to visit a museum during the semester. There are NO MAKEUP work available, if you miss a quiz or a daily assignment. She is very cool & helpful though. You have to pay attention to class lectures/PowerPoint in order to pass the quizzes.

One of the best professors I have ever had. The structure of the class is simple: If you attend, pay attention to the lecture, and take notes, it's very easy to make a good grade. She is kind and clearly very passionate about her subject. Again, one of the best professors I have ever had and I hope I will get to take another of her classes.

As a non-art major, I loved this class. Prof. Masten made it so interesting and was very nice. She had a great grasp on the material and shared so many interesting facts about the people from each period, it was cool learning about different cultures. I'd def take her again. Only 7 quizzes + 1 museum visit/paper. No exams, no final, no complaints!

Every class day follows a simple structure go over notes and lecture then complete an assignment usually with a partner or group. lowest 3 dropped. after usually 4-5 lectures a quiz is given. lowest 1 dropped. no final. an outside the classroom assignment. If you just go to class ever day its an easy A.

Kristy Masten is one of the best professors Ive envountered at UTSA. Kristy is fair and clear in grading. She keeps the lectures focused with enough room for class room discussion. Reading is expected and is not too bad compared to other courses. Taking Kristy is a must!

Simply one of the best lecturers at UTSA. Currently she's a doctoral student in education, so she understands the best way for students to learn and how to engage students in the classroom. Grades are taken from 6 in-class quizzes and 9 in-class group activities (usually with 2-3 people). You will get an A if you go to class and pay attention.

This was my first online art history class and it was awesome! Her online modules are set up perfectly and it's easy to know what I need to do each week and get it all done on time. The activities and quizzes were difficult at times but they weren't too bad. Glad I was able to take her for this class, taking her for Modern Art next semester.

Professor Masten was great! She understands art may not be everyone's favorite class but she tries her best to make it interesting. She's very kind, understanding, and genuinely wants everyone to do well. There's an assignment every single class and only 2 are dropped. They're super easy but that being said, attendance is required.

I love this professor! Although there is a chapter reading required every week in order to do well on the weekly quiz, it is totally do-able. The quizzes are easy if all of the content in Blackboard is read and watched. The class is very straightforward and I can usually finish all the work within 3 days. There are NO EXAMS, which I love!!!

Love this professor. The content is always well organized in Blackboard which allows for easy completion of weekly assignments which include: watching 1-6 videos, taking a 5 question quiz, and making a discussion post. The quizzes are easy if you watched all the material given that week. There are NO TESTS in this course... not even a final!

Easiest professor I've had. Anyone who says otherwise is probably failing all of their classes. She provides a few videos where the answers to quizzes are stated verbatim, and the discussions are simple and will not take more than 30 minutes. She seems like a nice person to talk to as well!

She is absolutely a sweetheart, the class has stuff due every Thursday and Sunday but she is definitely worth taking. You learn, it raises your GPA, and it is a nice break from the normal difficulty of other college classes. The only thing is you need to make sure you always turn everything in because each assignment is a big part of your grade.

The professor is very kind and would help if you send her an email. The class itself is easy but you HAVE to read the book and everything she posts before taking the quizzes. The course was an 8-week course but doable. she posted everything on the first day. There are no tests just quizzes discussions and the quizzes are open notes.

AHC 4333 - The Art of the Picturebook Class is ez. 2 readings are set up weekly with required writing about what we took from it, every class has open discussions about the readings and how we can apply that info towards the ONE and ONLY group picturebook project. Prof. is nice, helpful with feedback, and arranges great workshops with other profs.

She was a great professor with very easy assignments. Everything was very easy to do and understand. She knows everything she is teaching about and her lectures are very engaging, her quizzes are straight off the lectures/textbook. Made everything fun and easy all around great professor, would recommend her for anything art history related!

Super easy hw, just make sure you do everything lol. Nothing gets dropped in the 8-week class, but it's all super manageable. Just make sure to not underestimate how much time it can take you to do the hw because it can take you from 10min-1h so be careful procrastinating. She's super engaging and the class was actually enjoyable.

This professor is so great! She has great lectures that help you understand the material, and the only assignments are discussion questions and 10 question quizzes. I took her AHC 1113 and I got an A. I got a D in this class because I waited until the last minute to do everything.

Easy A, watch the videos and read the materials and you will pass the quiz. Every module has a quiz 6 questions and a padlet. No final exam just a couple projects in between but nothing too hard.

Professor Masten is the BEST! Classes are formatted to be either online or in person. If you're neurodivergent, you'll want to take her classes, they're formatted for individual preference. I recommend attending her lectures though because they're really good. I got a 100% for my final grade, need I say more?

This was a pretty easy course (I took online). It's a good class if you like to do things on your own pace. Discussions weren't too hard and as long as you pay attention to the lectures, the quizzes are super easy as well.

This class is a relatively easy A. Every week consisted of a quiz and a discussion assignment. Some weeks the assignment was a little bit more tedious like a voice recording describing a piece of art or drawing out what your art would look like in a certain style. She's fine with stick figure drawings and never graded hard. There's no textbook.

Professor Maten is an excellent professor, she has a true passion for her course making her class very entertaining and interesting. Attendance is not mandatory unless there is an in class assignment. Amazing professor absolutely take her!

The only thing I would warn future students to do is remind yourselves for the quizzes due every Sunday. They are super simple and quick to finish with only 8 questions that were covered in lectures and slides, but super easy to forget!! Attendance is not mandatory, but the activities are only done in class.
