Too much homework. I am a senior and I have never had this much homework. I have more homework in this class than my other 9 credits combined including my 4 credit hour stats class.
She really knows her stuff but, expects too much of her students. There is way too much reading every week and a ton of memorization that is pretty challenging. There are a lot of papers so that helps your grade out but the tests are difficult to predict.
She expects people to know as much as she knows. She assigns too much homework for one class. She has a paper due every week- which she grades pretty hard on. Also the tests are hard. It is based on what she has said in class, aka: attendance matters, so if you missed you're screwed.
This is a hard class, but she made it interesting. She really knows the material. She is excellent with the use of classroom time and her syllabus was very clear about what to expect. If you take good notes, you will know what to expect on the tests. Written assignments made up about 1/3 of the grade and tests the rest.
She's a smart teacher who knows what she is talking about. She assigns a lot of reading and expects response papers on a lot of them. You have to memorize art and buildings, knowing the title, artist and locations. She's a sweet lady, she's just tough.
Sister Rimmasch is a very nice and helpful teacher. She doesn't worry about any curves in her classes. Her presentations are excellent, and they are all you need to know for the tests. I never read the textbook once. Take great in-class notes because that is where all the questions on the test come from.
Tough class but not really hard. Lots of reading each week with one page papers due on the reading. Lots of memorizing, but honestly its very easy to cram for. Tests are easy if you take good in class notes...and she is a very fair test grader....I bombed the first test and did good on the last two...she boosted my 1st test to match.
kindest lady ever! If you are good at memorizing then you will do fine and if not you will still do well! she is so helpful and her lectures are really put together. we had to write response papers but they were extremely easy! I am just an average student and i did really well in the class.
She made Humanities interesting and enjoyable. There is a lot of reading and writing but none of it was busy work. She was very respectful of student's points of view and grateful that we were prepared so we could have meaningful discussions. Come to class every time, take good notes and do the assignments and you'll do well.
Knowledgeable teacher! Cut class short by approximately 10 minutes every week. Good teacher. Make slide shows for visual portion of tests! Written assignments due almost every week. Very respectful of differing view points. Seems to love her job. Take good notes, pound the visual portion and music portion into you head! Stay up to date, study!!!!!
Her lectures are boring and hard to follow, but she is very nice and helpful if you have any questions. Easy one-page papers due each week. She gives out study guides but it's still pretty hard to know to what to expect on the tests. Tons of art and music memorization. Very time consuming.
I loved Sister Rimmasch! She was extremely helpful and respectful of others thoughts and ideas. She does have a 1 page paper due each week, but it's easily manageable. Going to class really does help with the test. I would definitely take this class from her!
This was the first 3 hour block class that has kept me engaged from beginning to end. I never felt bored, even though art has never been particularly fascinating to me. Prof. Rimmasch knows everything about the subject, but at the same time meets you on your level so you don't feel dumb. I learned a ton, and would recommend this class to everyone!
I really enjoyed this professor and this class. You have to do the readings and really focus on notes in class. The professor is great and will keep you interested in the class. Put the effort in and you will love this class.
I loved taking this class in Salt Lake at BYUs Business College. The classes were much smaller than at Provo which made it much easier to learn and get help. I don't normally like generals or the humanities but this was an exception. If you go to class and participate you should be fine. I took this my senior year so it felt easy.
This was a great class! Nice variety of art, literature, music, and architecture. She gives you a study guide for exams that really help prepare and is positive and very kind. Take this class!
Sis. Rimmasch was so fantastic! She has a very clear way of teaching and makes sure you are prepared for her exams. The class takes some work but it is definitely worth it because it makes class time enjoyable. She has fantastic study guides for each test, so make sure you take great notes in class and you should do fantastic! Good Luck!
Sister Rimmasch is a marvelous professor! I took my Humanities 202 class from her and wished I had taken all my humanities classes from her. She is very clear as to what she expects and is very attentive to students. She is passionate and knowledgable and fun! I totally recomend her.
Sister Rimmasch is wonderful! She is very knowledgable about the subject she teaches and makes it very interesting. I would love to take other classes from her!
Professor Rimmasch is a fantastic teacher! She makes Humanities interesting and fun to learn! She likes interactive learning so be sure to do the reading so you can contribute to discussion. She teaches you exactly what her exams contain. Gives out great study guides for each exam. I recommend this class for anyone wanting to be more cultured. :)
Rimmasch is a great teacher that doesn't waste time. She tells you exactly what you need to know to pass the class. She explains everything clearly and really wants her students to succeed. She is interested in the subject so it helps long classes be entertaining. She is a fair (and generous) grader and helps students. GO TO CLASS and take notesA.
This was my favorite class at the BYU salt lake center. I initially took it because I knew I would love learning about musics' effect on the arts in this time period, but had no idea I would also love many of the weekly response journals we had. Take this class with a few friends or make a study group. The tests are pretty detailed, read the book.
I learned a lot! She is always very prepared with first hand knowledge. She teaches about places she has visited with lots of information which is very interesting. She is very king and helpful. I would highly recommend her class.
Professor Rimmasch is an excellent teacher. She is fair and fun. She is willing to work with you if you need to make accommodations for life's interruptions.
Kristy Rimmasch was one of my favorite professors of my college career thus far. Her class was really tough and challenged me but I learned a lot and had a great time and I felt like it applied to my ever day life in a way Humanities doesn't always succeed at.
I recommend taking a class from Prof. Rimmasch. She makes you work for your grade, but at the same time she will go to great lengths to get you a good grade. She really wants you to pass, if not get an A. She is organized; classes have the same format (lecture, discussion, art slides) She knows the subject very well and makes the class run smooth
She is wonderful! I encourage you to take this class. She honestly opened my eyes and made my generals fun.
Professor Rimmasch is very passionate about her class so learning is interesting. She prepares you for every question on the tests. She encourages participation so that everyone is engaged in the learning. I loved this class and would recommend Professor Rimmasch to anyone and everyone!
She is absolutely amazing, everything that we cover in class is on the tests, so just pay attention! It's easy: read, come to class, study, and get an A. She is crystal clear, and always gives extra credit chances for struggling students. Very passionate and WANTS us to pass her class!! The best teacher ever. She really made a difference for me.
Attend the classes then you will do fine. she gives all the info you need to know for the tests.
Sister Rimmasch helped me love Humanities. At first I felt soooo out of place...I do nursing, not humanities. But she helped me see that Humanities has importance in the world, and helped me gain confidence in it. You definitely need to study for tests and be in class (no powerpoints--just notes). But if you do, you'll grow like mad! She's grea
Good class
I love Professor Rimmasch. I wish I would have taken my other humanities classes from her. She is very kind, very structured and I learned a lot from her. She expects a lot from you but you walk away from the class knowing so much! She is an incredible teacher, seriously.
Dr. Rimmasch was AMAZING... as a nursing major, I had little interest in humanities, until I took this class with her. Engaging and taught the info clearly. Class was relatively easy... go to class and you'll do well on tests. Offers extra credit. Definitely in my top 5 of favorite professors at BYU!
She is an awesome teacher. She makes note taking easy and clear. Tests are exactly as she prepares you for. she knows her content well and makes it interesting I want to go to Europe now to see all of this history!!!
Very knowledgable about the Humanities. Tests are straightforward and simple if you attend class and participate in lectures.
This was a really great class. She is a great professor!
Excellent professor. Very knowledgeable, wants to see you get an A.
Great teacher! love her!
Lots of memorization, but tests aren't hard if you take good notes in class. Many good reading materials and really felt like I learned something rather than just trying to get a good grade. She is very caring and truly loves what she teaches!
Very knowledgable and caring of your success. Bonus: she is a great teacher and explains things well. Lot of reading but it's all fun and worth it because her class discussions are great!
Mrs. Rimmasch was a very personable teacher! She was very caring and really worked with the students when things came up. The class only met once a week so it was important that you were there each week to learn the material needed for the test. If you showed up and did your readings, the tests weren't too difficult.
She really helped me become enganged in the learning. You can tell that she really enjoys what she is teaching you and really cares about your grade. She is a professor who is rare to find when taking general education classes. I would definitely take her again no matter what course.
This was one of my favorite classes and I decided to take both 201 and 202 classes with her. Better be in class and take notes for her tests. Great lectures that are always interesting.
Prof. Rimmasch is amazing! She really cares about her students. Her classes are not easy, but if you do the work and pay attention to the lectures, you will do well. She does not take attendance, but the lectures are absolutely essential to doing well in this class. Everything writes on the board is important and will very likely be on the test
Lectures are really interesting. You have to take good notes in the class. But if you take good notes and study well for the exams, you should be able to get an A. It feels like it is a lot of information to memorize. During the semester it feels stressful. But by the end of the semester, you'll see that her class wasn't too bad.
I'm not an art/english major (not even close), so this class was perfect for me. She has a well-designed class structure. Go to class, take good notes, and study hard for the exams. Other than that, the class was easy and straightforward. She is definitely one of my favorite professors at BYU.
Prof Rimmasch made this class really enjoyable. You can tell she is passionate about what she is teaching and it makes the lectures more interesting. Just show up, take good notes, and do the readings and you will succeed. Would definitely take again from her.
Professor Rimmasch is amazing. She cares about her students, is clear in what she expects, and tells you exactly what you need to know for the tests. The final is just like the other two midterms (noncumulative). There are 10 one page papers due based on the readings she assigns. There was a 10 point extra credit assignment available. TAKE HER!
Actual difficulty would be a 4, but she's SO good at teaching that it should be a 2 or 3. I put 4 because you DO need to put in effort to read and write. Everything is so organized and her expectations are clear. Tests are hard, but class average was an A- because, again, she taught everything so well. She loves what she teaches and is just so nice
great course. makes you really work for your grade! good material
Sister Rimmasch is an amazing teacher. She presents the information you need to know for tests, in class. Didn't think i'd like this class, but i was dead wrong. Really awesome!
Professor Rimmasch is seriously the best professor I've had. I hated history before I took her class, but she explains things in an interesting way and keeps everyone involved. We had eight short reading response papers to right, but they are super easy to write if you do the reading.
Professor Rimmasch is so passionate about the humanities and makes her classes so enjoyable! The grading criteria for papers is very straightforward and if you listen to the lectures, you'll be prepared for the exams. She is the perfect professor for anyone who doesn't have an appreciation for the humanities--she'll change your mind!
Holy cow bruh why don't you just call this an art history class. You'll need to memorize a a hundred terms per test, each of which are over 20 percent of your grade. She doesn't give you the presentations and if you miss a slide its over for that. She sounds passionate about the material but doesn't help to remember the facts. Weekly Papers too.
She's the most amazing professor I've had at BYU. She's passionate about the class and makes it interesting (even if you don't like history). She's willing to help and work with students. There are several short papers (1-2 pages double spaced) on the reading. However, they are easy to do if you do the reading.
This was one of the hardest classes I've taken so far at BYU. It is difficult to know what will be on the tests because you cover so much material and the questions are very specific. There are also readings each week, and especially toward the beginning of the semester they are very long and very difficult to understand. It's a tough class!
Professor Rimmasch is incredible! You'll have to memorize A TON to get an A. But getting an A will be in your control. There are 1-page (double spaced) papers due once a week. But you get full credit as long as your papers had 3 quotes and are free from grammatical errors. I'm so happy I took this class from Rimmasch though. 10/10 recommend.
I've had Professor Rimmasch for both IHUM 201 and 202, and she was excellent in both! You do have to memorize a lot for her tests, but that's the case w/ all of the IHUM classes. Make sure to take good notes (she lets you take pics of her slides), use Quizlet, and do the response papers. Readings can help, but you are only tested on her lectures.
I'm still in the class and I just took the first test. It is pretty ridiculous for a general. Way too much information is expected to be memorized. It has been straightforward so far but the amount of reading that you need to do is stupid. The tests cover an insane amount of material, and it is way over the top. Would not recommend it.
Tests are VERY specific and worth 70% of grade. She is a very nice lady, but the tests are to you to require the most minute of details from class--who said which quote, even when it wasn't in the reading. She tells you in class that the historical background is for understanding , not the test, but then tests on that info. Not an easy gen ed..
I'm not going to lower my rating because this class was difficult. She is kind, supportive, and passionate about the class. Outside of the tests, everything is an easy completion grade. Tests (3, never comprehensive) are hard, but if you take good notes (!!!) and study hard you can do well. Test material is all from the lectures.
Professor Rimmasch is a gem to have at BYU. I took IHUM 201 and 202 from her, both online. Her classes are very manageable if you do the homework and go to class. She says what's on the test in lectures. Humanities classes can be a hassle, but her passion makes class engaging. Take these GE classes from Prof Rimmasch if you can. You'll love it!
Professor Rimmasch is an amazing teacher who cares for her students. You still have to show up to class and do some work to get a good grade. There are 3 exams, weekly 1-2 page papers, and ALL of the info on the test comes from class so pay attention! You can get an A if you pay attention, study, and participate in class!
You need to attend lectures and take very good notes to be successful in this class. Tests are quite specific, but not cumulative, so you can really improve each test. Take good notes, study hard, and participate in class and you'll be fine. Class content is somewhat interesting even if you aren't super interested in art. Good class overall.
She was the worst teacher I ever met. I took the first midterm in the Spring and it was the hardest test ever and you were given like an hour to complete a 3 hour test. She was not accommodating or helpful. I failed the first test and was forced to withdrawal b/c there was no time given and she would not let me retake it for any reason. Horrible.
I liked Dr. Rimmasch. Her tests were memorization-heavy, but it's not the end of the world if you don't do as well on the test. She gives plenty of opportunities to participate and be engaged in the class. Assignments are regular but mostly graded on completion. I would recommend her for Humanities 201 :)
This class wasn't hard by any means, just need to grind on exam weeks. Really know the art and music. I got a 95. I never read the textbook really, nor the stories, I would just kind of skim them and write the papers. Just make sure you get 10s on all the papers and you can average like 87s on the exams and get an A. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT PAPER.
Professor Rimmasch is a great teacher! Her passion for humanities makes the content very interesting. There is a lot of reading, but it's manageable and mostly interesting. Attendance is mandatory, and all the test questions come from class. The assignments/papers are easy and short . Just follow the rubrics. Take Professor Rimmasch for IHUM 202!
Take this class from Professor Rimmasch! She teaches clearly, her assignments are straight forward, and you learn a lot. She loves what she teaches, which really got me to appreciate art more. Just do the little assignments, participate in class, and take good notes, and you'll do well in the class. (Bonus: IHUM 202 counts for two GenEd credits)
Professor Rimmasch is amazing, I would 100% take her again! She cares for her students and structures the class so you can succeed. Tests are strictly on lecture + alot of info, make sure you go to class. Papers are easy, 7/10 or more for doing it, make sure you know the material for class discussion bc she will call on you. Read just for papers.
I enjoyed her class more than I thought I would. This course is extremely organized and easy to follow. But be ready to memorize a lot of things like paintings and historical styles.
Professor Rimmasch is a WONDERFUL teacher who really cares about her students' success and learning. I took IHUM 201 and IHUM 202 concurrently from her. Here is the bottom line: Professor Rimmasch gives you everything you need to be successful in this course, but whether or not you are successful is based on how much effort you put into studying.
Professor Rimmasch who puts a lot of time into each lesson and wants each student to succeed. I took 201 and 202 because of how much I was able to learn. It is one of the tougher classes I've taken at BYU and requires a lot of work outside of class to succeed.
I didn't even know what humanities was before I took this class, but Professor Rimmasch made it one of my favorite classes that I have taken at BYU. I took this class at the Salt Lake Center so it was only once a week and each lecture was super interesting and went by way fast. The only homework we had was writing a paper and some reading.
Professor Rimmasch is an excellent teacher. She is very passionate about humanities and draws you into her point of view where history and culture come to life. I honestly was not looking forward to this class but it became one of my favorite classes of the semester. She makes studying for the tests very straightforward. Loved this class!
Professor Rimmasch is one of the best, if not the best professor at BYU. She really cares about you as her student and will do anything and everything she can to make sure that you succeed in the class. In order to be successful you need to go to class and soak in all the info that you go over in class and study it. She will also reward effort.
Professor Rimmasch is the best professor at BYU. She really cares about you as her student and will do anything and everything she can to make sure that you succeed in the class. In order to be successful you need to go to class and soak in all the info that you go over in class and study it. She will also reward effort.
My program isn't at all related to Humanities so I took this class for credit fulfillment at the Salt Lake Center in the Summer. If I knew I would like it so much, I might have taken it anyways. Prof. Rimmasch is really passionate about what she teaches and genuinely cares that you learn the material. Lots of it, but it's interesting and enjoyable.
Professor Rimmasch is passionate about humanities and really cares for her students. She is the nicest person ever. She offered extra credit for filling out our study guides, which saved my grade! Tests are very detailed on things that we talk about in class. Fill out the study guide while she talks as your notes and memorize ALL the music and art!
Sister Rimmasch is one of the nicest professors I have ever had. She is caring and does all that she can so that her students can succeed. She sets very clear expectations for the class on day 1 and provides all the necessary resources to do well in the class. If you come to class, take notes and study, then you will do very well.
Great professor that is passionate about the subject. She took the time to know all of us by name. Her tests are long and very specific, but she provides you with all the resources necessary to know everything. PowerPoint slides on Learning Suite, etc. It was a great GE class to take once a week at the salt lake center!
I would highly recommend taking a class with Professor Rimmasch. Although the tests were pretty difficult, she made her expectations clear and attainable. Her lectures were enjoyable, but be ready to participate in class quite a bit. You can tell that she is really passionate about what she teaches and she's a kind person. Overall great Professor!
She is HER. One easy response paper due each week and then 3 tests in total. Tests are a bit harder but mostly because of the amount of material there is. But for how stupid and difficult GEs are at BYU, this one is extremely reasonable and well structured. Rimmasch is kind, thoughtful, and is a great prof. Would highly recommend.
She is amazing. Simple studying of terms and a little paper to write each week. She is super understanding as well and sets you up to do well on tests! I love her class and would absolutely retake it!!
She's an amazing professor and she cares for her students and how they do in her class! She has a deep passion for the arts and humanities, and she brings that passion to class! Her enthusiasm makes the learning process enjoyable and engaging! She is willing to help you wherever you're at and is very supportive!
Class attendance is necessary to succeed. There are 3 tests total but no comprehensive final. The tests are very hard but study hard and you will do well. There are also weekly readings and papers on the reading but lightly grade. Professor Rimmasch is very kind and cares deeply about each of her students and will help anyone 1on1 when requested.
Professor Rimmasch is incredible! I would love to take every class from her if I could. Her syllabus is very clear and grading expectations are very accessible. She genuinely cares about her students. She knew my name within the first class and major things going on in my life throughout the semester. This class is worth the time and money!
She is very passionate about the subject she teaches. She is also very personable and I felt like I had a relationship with her just from being in her class. The class was 1/week in the SLC center. There was a small paper due every week before class, which was then talked about in class. Attendance isn't mandatory, but I would recommend it.
Professor Rimmasch is awesome. She really gets everyone involved in the lectures and keeps things interesting. She always prepared us well for the tests and I gained a lot from her class. You will need to come to class prepared to take notes and spend time outside of class writing analyses, but it isn't impossible to get an A.
I loved her Western Humanities class. The way she taught made me interested in visiting Greece, Rome, Istanbul to name a few places. There is a manageable amount of work and the extra credit she offers boosts your grade a ton.
Professor Rimmasch is great! She is a really great professor and knows her stuff. She can answer and question you come to her with and is very easy to contact if you have any questions. There is a decent amount of homework and the tests are hard, but if you participate and attend the lectures, she covers everything you need in class.
Professor Rimmasch teaches by far the best humanities classes at BYU, ideal for majors or general requirements. The workload is manageable compared to others. If you don't overload your schedule, you'll succeed. Show up, take notes, and do the extra credit—you'll do great! I'm taking her 202 class because she's awesome to work with.
Professor Rimmasch is amazing! Her class is well-structured with weekly papers and tests, but she genuinely cares about her students. Unstuckstudy was super helpful for preparing. Definitely worth taking!
incredible! She structures the class so the beginning of the semester is more reading heavy/harder content and later it's more chill. She also provides a lot of extra credit at the beginning as well to balance it out. The tests include a lot of content but she gives you all the resources to do well. Makes the content really engaging.
Professor Rimmasch was super chill. Honestly, the class wasn't difficult as long as you do the readings. Plus she gives a lot of opportunities for extra credit. She's very caring and is always asking how you're doing. I'm not really one for the arts, but I kinda liked it because she was so passionate about what she was teaching.
This professor was really good and has tons of extra credit! Her writing assignments were sometimes confusing, but if you go to class you would be fine. There are 3 tests worth a huge chunk of your grade. Study after each class and you should be okay!
I absolutely love Professor Rimmasch!! Intelligent, understanding, caring, the list could go on. Reasonable workload, which was very manageable even over a spring term. There are frequent writing assignments, but in my opinion, they were very easy if you are a practiced writer. Lots of memorization as well, but similarly very doable if you study.
Love this professor! Super supportive even if you aren't doing too well in the class! Super kind and invested in your learning and wants you to do well! I'd take classes again just for the professor!
Dr. Rimmasch is super passionate and kind. She always lets you know exactly what she is testing on. Majority of tests are on Art and Music identification, which are easy points. The other test questions are very straightforward and she will never try to trick you on the test. Lots of extra credit opportunities. Short Papers about every week.
Prof. Rimmasch is so kind and caring! The lectures were very interesting and the tests manageable. A short 1 pg paper almost every week and textbook reading heavy but for a 1 class a week it was very manageable. Enjoyed this class sooo much and she takes time to get to know her students! Also so passionate about what she teaches!
