It's sometimes hard to understand this professor because of his accent. However, he does try to make the class not boring. He also tries to help students on tests as much as he can. I think it's just a hard subject!
good professor tries to give out as much extra credit as you can get. very helpful. tries to make class very fun
it's ok...he does try to make class fun and his lectures do help a little. his grading is really odd...100pts overall. and 15pts are for 1 exam. tests are ok....as far as his teaching methods...it gets kinda annoying as the semester goes on
He is hilarious! Very nice. Very helpful. Lectures are kind of confusing so I just read the book and do the hw problems. Hw problems are important for the tests. He gives you the equations on the test.
Alrite its funny for like the first class, but as time goes on his style gets real old and annoying quick. Very difficult teaching methods, you have to fight with him for like an hour to get just one point more on your tests, and the tests are hard in themselves. Try to find a different teacher, but not many other options for physics classes.
This guy got really annoying. He chooses questions from the book...but don't get too hopeful. They are random and are usually ones that doesn't have answers to them. I've shown them to physics majors, tutors, and instructors and they too can't answer them. Homework are difficult as well. There wasn't enough problems to practice for his tests.
just finished summer class w/ him. very intensive course yet doable. try to go to his office hours and get him to know you. test questions are straight out from the end of chapter problems. not biomedical focused. study everyday and get a tutor if possible.
This professor is pretty good at teaching. Study and do your homework, dont get if off your friends, and you'll be fine in the class. Honestly, all the people who were complaining are people who didnt really study and needed somebody to blame.
This instructor was tough. The person giving him a 4 probably had AP physics. Not only tough but annoying. He does try to give extra credit but it doesn't help. No matter how much you practice, it won't be enough to prepare for his test because they are so random.
Don't even bother taking this guy unless you already know everything about physics. He only teaches the people who don't need to be taught. 70% drop rate people, and not because he's tough, it's because he's a horrible teacher.
This is a very difficult instructor. The tests are hard and the lecture is useless. avoid this man

He teaches well. Hard tests. Sometimes difficult to understand due to his accent "bounded" vs. "bonded" for example. He explains things well for the difficulty of the class that I took, most professors when they talk about this subject can't explain it at all, this guy does pretty well.
You can not understand what he is saying most of the time, and he doesnt make things very clear. Yet if you take advantage of his office hours it does help.
He's real bad. Hes a nice teacher, but his tests are so random. His lecture consists of solving and his tests are all on concepts. The highest score was a 69. Bad teacher, stay away.
This is the only class I could not follow.
This professor is very difficult to understand with his accent and I felt it didnt get much better as we went. He teaches by letting other students go up to the board or tell the answers, but the problem is you get extra credit if you get these right so people just guess for the credit. I ended up forming a group and studying on our own
Nearly impossible to understand his accent and otherwise completely fails to adequately explain difficult material. Unannounced quizzes on random concepts from lectures from 2 days to 2 weeks ago. Tests are graded extremely harshly, one mistake can cost you half credit for a question. Take another prof if you can.
I had him for Lab, but I feel bad for anyone that had him for lecture. HE IS INCOMPREHENSIBLE, YOU WILL NOT UNDERSTAND HIM I PROMISE. But it's a good laugh though, he's F.O.B. His grading changes a lot, I got a D on my first report, then B and A's after, weird. Take for lab, it's decent if you have friends to work with. DO NOT TAKE FOR LECTURE.
Dunno why people say his tests are hard, they're so easy. All of them are from the homework problems he posted on webassign with a little changes here and there. Do the hw and make sure u understand them, not just blindly copy from cramster. I Showed up to class only 5 days thro out the whole sem. and managed to get an A, lab did help a bit.
Test problems are straight from the homework. He's willing to help, but accent is difficult to understand. Willing to help students but teaching isn't that great. If you want an A in this class, show up everyday for random quizzes, answer questions for extra credit (gives out a lot) and do ALL homework posted online and in the book (the blue prblms
Assigns homework and will not go over it. Did not finish chapter two. That same day gave a quiz on chapter two. Does not answer questions in class. Teaches by showing a equation on the board and has a student do it. The worst professor I have ever had and this is my second BS. He needs to be fired.
The worst professor I have ever had. The entire physics department at CSULB is a joke.
Worse Professor I have ever had. Does not explain well and often repeats himself in an annoying manner. (EX: For the test you will need a blue book, blue book, blue book, and a pen, pen, pen) About a fourth of our class received a 0 on the first test. Accent is bad Everytime he said "resistor" for the first month I thought he was saying "rooster"
Didn't enjoy this class, I enjoy physics, but he didn't come prepared. I would avoid this teacher at all costs, he wont prepare you for the next one, the basics are there, but if you're willing to teach yourself, go for it..
The worst proffessor(if you can even call him that) that I have ever had. I know this material but this teacher is a mess, and is very confusing. On top of that he doesn't help you even when you visit his office hours
Dr. Chuang is a nice/funny guy, but is a really poor teacher. He doesn't really teach you anything, he just expects you to "understand the concepts". Has students answer questions and expects you to learn like that. Unless if you've taken physics before, do not take it with him. But I will admit, he is a nice guy and can be funny at times.
Professor Chuang is a nice guy, but I do not recommend him as a teacher. He was unable to effectively teach his students the material and about half our class ended up dropping. His teaching skills are very poor.
His English is hard to understand. I got an A in his class, so I'm not bitter about getting a bad grade. I just didn't like him. He doesn't care about his students. I have about as much respect for him as he did for me.
I only had Dr. Chuang for Physics 100B LAB (not lecture), so my opinion may be biased but I absolutely loved him. He has a heavy accent so it was a little difficult to understand him at times, but he is very funny and always had us in and out of lab in 2 hours or less. The lab final was super easy, and he is very generous when grading lab reports.
Tests come mostly from book and homework so get an A by reading the book and doing homework problems. Make sure you know how to do all problems. On first exam I got 100% because it was straight from the homework. I got lots of extra credit, did well on exams and the final so I got an A. I am not a physics major. He is good. I enjoyed this class.
Not a great teacher. I'm good at teaching myself from the textbook, so that's how I got by. He seems to grade fairly generously and it sounds like he gave a generous curve at the end. Lecture is brief and emphasizes concepts.
This teacher only subbed for my class for a month. He has a heavy accent and tends to walk around the classroom and repeat asked questions like a broken record....Your going to be teaching yourself, have fun sleep reading the physics book. There's many things that he didn't cover, which would have been nice to know before attempting webassign.
He sucks.... 4questions on midterm. If you took ap physics in high school and passed it you don't even have to come to the class. Not until the last few weeks when the book actually covers the part. Heavy accent, tries to humor ppl but not even funny. You need textbook to study on your own. Change to other prof before it's too late
AVOID! this teacher will get you lost unless you pay really close attention. two midterm one final and doesn't go over hwk. WORST PART is his accent&pronunciation. USELESS. don't know why he is still hired.
DONT TAKE CHUANG. Very difficult and hard to understand. very strict on exams and grading. Gives assigned seating during exams. doesn't cover homework. Does give extra credit but its (1/3 of a point) for every time you answer a question in his class; max 2%, which is very unorganized. Does not curve or help. Ineffective lectures. DONT TAKE CHUANG
Avoid this teacher. The midterms and final questions have no correlation with the lecture. No formula sheet is given either. His lectures are unorganized and doesn't help at all with the homework or tests. He talks about the concepts but never applies it. Office hours are unhelpful. This teacher alone completely ruined my interest in physics.
Had this professor in Fall '12. He doesn't help at all. Tells students to email another professor when students ask question. Exams don't relate to what he assigns to study. Rushes through each lecture. Never goes over homework. Has super heavy accent. AVOID THIS PROFESSOR AT ALL COSTS!!
Very friendly and personable man, but terrible, terrible, TERRIBLE professor. Went to every class, participated, AND took notes...Still struggled! Extremely thick accent, making it hard to understand his already fast lectures. Equivalent to a chapter per week. If you have a hard time self-teaching, definitely avoid! Good Luck!
Very confusing, and expects you to have read the chapter before coming to class, already understanding everything. If you don't want to buy the book google "htahsiri's study guide" and click the link for w/e class you're in.
Terrible class, definitely wouldn't recommend. Avoid this professor. Lectures, including examples, are straight from the textbook. He does not know how to teach effectively or to explain concepts clearly. Has a fairly thick accent and talks very fast so it is sometimes hard to understand. The way he repeats things also gets very annoying.
The epitome of bad professors. Avoid taking this class at all costs. He does not lecture. He would rather have students come up and try to figure the problem out, and when a student is unsuccessful he threatens them by stating that he will call their parents. His accent is horrible and unclear. Do not take this guy.
AVOID this professor. Very hard to understand (due to his very thick accent), tells you to "learn the concept" yet you're barely grasping the concept when he already moved on 3 sections, bases his "teaching" on asking students how to solve problem, and does not go over homework. Seems like a cool guy, but not a good professor at all.
This guy is the cause of all my stress this semester. Horrible teacher. It is difficult to get good grades on tests because they are usually only 3 questions, so one question alone is weighed very heavily on your grade. avoid him
This guy is a complete joke, he expects everyone to understand the concepts first try and then moves on. i had ap physics so the first 2 tests were A+ but the final is insane. the class structure is terrible, he makes students teach and the tests are 3 questions each. he doesnt go over hw and test questions dont relate to hw. !!!!!!!!AVOID!!!!!!!!
Horrible class that I ever had in CSULB. HWs don't have any correlation with exams, and professor is not helping his students to understand concepts that he really wants. Hard accent will make you trouble to understand. Exam is extremely hard because there is no study material to solve them. If you are not master of physics, don't take with him.
Professor Chuang is not the worst teacher I've ever had, but he does rank up there. You basically need to teach yourself the material. He lectures assuming you have done so. If you an independent person that can teach yourself somewhat difficult subjects, you'll be ok. He does curve at the end though. I scored a 68% on the Final and got an A.
Explaining easiness, the class is hard he tries to do his best. Long story short i got a 50% on MT1, but here's what to expect: understand the concept behind the problems, which equation to use etc. but DON'T STRESS. If he thinks you understood the idea behind how to solve it you got almost full points there. serious in studying and you have an A.
Great person, Horrible professor. He expects you to know everything prior to lecture..he doesn't teach. Prepare to teach yourself! 2 midterms, 1 final. ONLY 3 questions on each test. Majorly curves at the end.. and i mean MAJOR! Went from a C to a B. He was beyond generous for that! TAKE CLASS AT YOUR RISK.
AVOID!!!!!!!!! I took physics in high school with a rather good teacher so I knew most of the stuff, I still managed to get confused with everything. This is literally the worst teacher ever, if you have to take physics wait till next semester but seriously do not take this guy!
Make sure to take introductory to chinese 100. It will give you a better Good luck!
If you can learn by reading on your own, taking notes, and doing your own examples, then he'll be just fine. But otherwise, he's useless in class. But the class is very easy. He curves it something ridiculous. I dont recommend him, but if you get hime it is survivable.
What you need to know: concepts! 15 questions on each exam (2-3 calculation problems, the rest concepts) plus 1 problem solving (he tells you what it's going to be so practice it). This professor is USELESS for teaching. I recommend buying chegg for the hw questions and getting a real tutor (not the free ones). That's what I did and I got an A.
Mostly learn from WebAssign. Get the solution manual, it helps. Goes over problems and pick volunteers to solve them on the board. Basically trying to get everyone involved. I-clicker questions are graded. 2 midterms, 1 final. He's alright. Pretty hard final though.
BEST PROFESSOR EVER!!! Nah just kidding. Professor Chuango does not know how to teach and has a heavy accent. He does not explain anything and does not say how to solve the problems. Always read the book before the class. 2 Midterms which were ok, but the final was insane. He curves the final though. DO NOT TAKE UNLESS YOU WANT TO TEACH YOURSELF!
Avoid. Avoid. Avoid. His way of teaching is ineffective and his accent is very thick. Class is graded on iclickers, lab reports, webassign, 2 midterms, and a final. Don't depend on the curve too much.
I'm going to be real here. The material was hard and the only reason I excelled was because I took physics in high school. That being said, it is very passabble. If you're looking for a 4.0, maybe only take if you've already taken physics. If you just want to pass, however, it's not hard to stay above the curve in a lecture hall (Curve is HUGE).
The only reason to go to class is to get the iclicker points- other than that cover your ears while he lectures because I think the more I tried to listen to him, the worse I did on the exams. Just read the book to get the concepts. Plus, the curve is HUGE! Class average was around 50%. I got an A, F, and C on exams, but A in the class...
Loved him. Final is very hard, but he knows it is and curves accordingly. Super easy to get an A if you actually put in the effort... If you feel you weren't graded fairly on an exam, talk to him in office hours, I bumped an exam grade up 10% just by talking to him. Just don't ask stupid questions, or he will make fun of you. Funny guy.
Worst professor I've ever taken. 2 midterms and 1 final, and they are all extremely hard. He doesn't know how to lecture, I just went to get the I-Clickah points. If you're not doing well he will call your parents.
Avoooiid Chuang! Please don't this to yourself! Professor Chuang is extremely confusing in his lectures, and his grading is pretty harsh. Thankfully I had taken PHYS in high school and knew almost everything.. The only reason why I slightly liked him is because of the curve, yeah he curves enormously.
CHUANG was the best teacher I ever had.
1010 would take again and sit through lectures
he's funny. he is very clear when uses the board. ask a lot so he explains. grades the exams very generously if you wrote something make sense even not right answer. he is a great and smart teacher despite he mixes sometimes in the lecture. if I needed to take another physics class, I will definitely take it again with him.
Nice guy, funny at times, horrible professor. Curves nicely (because it's so needed after his brutal grading) - so everyone passes... but it's a stressful way to "learn"
"Back to the future!" He's insane. This class was stressful and he expects you to do the problems as well as to learn and understand concepts on your own time before class. Lectures are scattered and hard to follow. He can't say some words which is funny. Resistors are "roosters". His tests are way harder than the webassign homework. strong curve
He's so difficult and uses a fake asian accent to try to be funny. Doesn't know what he's doing...
Read the book, take notes, go to lectures for iclicker, during lecture he tells u sometimes whats for sure on the test. curve is pretty good, for his exams I got 2 high C's and 1 F (im a senior B.S. in bio3.5 GPA, yet still scored that low after readingstudying ), got A's on hwquizzes, B for iclicker, High B in lab and ended up with A.
Okay first of all, this professor tries his best to speak clear english. He really cares about his students and wants them all to pass. His class was really tough and you always have to go to lectures. PHYS alone is hard to understand, so he does his best to help you understand the subject. He cracks jokes and makes the class fun. Be ready to study
Ok so at first this class seemed very hard. I almost dropped the class but decided to stay a little longer to see if I was up for the challenge. Everyone practically fails his tests but the curve is so high that most people end up passing. I studied all the problems in the book, so if you don't mind studying on your own take his class.
I strongly recommend taking this professor. Lectures are engaging and funny, sometimes a little bit unclear but 90% of the time he is very clear. Takes time to make sure students understand the concept. Tests are not a surprise, they are based on lecture material. Do the webassign and study from it and you will get an A on the tests.
His tests are all taken from WebAssign. If you just practice your WebAssign homework over and over again, you will get an easy A whether it's PHYS 151 OR 152. If you are willing to spend $15/month for Chegg, it will be worth it since it's a 4 unit class.
Had him for 151. Tbh, he's not really that bad despite his low rating. As long as you read the book and understand the problems, you should be fine in this class. Hes not good at lecturing but the textbook does explain the concepts very well. His exams aren't That hard,They're similar to the webassaign and he curves it
Absolutely horrible. Has a very thick accent, tests are not easy and he does not care about helping his students at all. I regret taking this professor so much.
Lectures are unclear and confusing. Overall, if you are fine learning by yourself then take him. Just study off from webassign and you will pass.
Had Prof. Chuang for 151. He does have an accent, but it is not that bad. You can easily understand him. Exams are kind of hard, but as long as you study webassign homework and his lecture notes it should be fine. Most importantly, he does care about his students, always willing to help. Want to take with him for 254 again.
Well I took this class instead of the EE class and I regret my choice.. His lectures are hard to understand and I am taking EE360 right now and I'm spending hours reviewing Physics 152 material that he didn't cover. He did have crazy curves. People with like 30% test averages got C. Easy to pass, but you would forget everything after taking him.
Just ask questions or go to his office hours. He's significantly better than Hlousek.
Chuang's accent takes a little bit to get used to, but its understandable. He is a really nice and funny guy, whose lectures can be a bit confusing. The class was easy to excel in since the homeworks were all on webassign, and his midterms and final were based off of those webassign questions.
Chuang is a really funny prof who tries real hard to make Thermo very easy. His lectures aren't helpful, but he gives out extra credit for participation. All the learning is pretty much from the HW: the quizzes and exams are pulled straight from it. While an easy A, you might come out with little more knowledge of Thermo than when you came in.
BEST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER HAD. Easy tests and easy homework. 10/10 would recommend
The class is poorly structured; his lecture notes are sloppy (but straight from the book) and nothing gets done in class and we're always dismissed 30 minutes early after completing a teamwork assignment. You WILL get an easy A, but you WILL NOT LEARN Thermodynamics under his instruction. The guy can't teach, but you can't hate him--he's hilarious!
My problem was I took it at 8am and that is just a set up to fail. The class in itself is difficult but Chuang makes it clear and do able. unless you have a better choice for sure i would go with Chuang.
As long as you do the webassign homework, you will get a guaranteed A in this class. His exams are based off of webassign, so just study the homework. You don't need the book, just an iClicker for his class. Make sure you don't miss labs though, there easy but if you miss one it'll hurt your grade. Definitely going to take him for 152 if possible.
Multivariable Calculus prior is strongly recommended. Chuang seems like an intimidating guy during lecture and assumes prior knowledge, but he's quite approachable outside of class. Personally dislike WebAssign homework, but that's what the exams are heavily based on. So find solutions and understand them. He does curve exams, but don't rely on it.
I highly recommend CHEGG for the webassign. His exams are entirely based off of it and you need to completely be able to show answers for full points. I got 50%, 58%, then 95% on final, C in iclicker and A in class and actually got a B in the class. It's heavily curved at the end. I could have gotten A if i studied the HW more. TAKE HIM.
His lectures are hard to understand. He will ask a question for the group and you may answer with something correct, but if it's not what he's looking for, he will say you are wrong. Don't try to ask him questions. Exams are straight from his review and WileyPlus homework. Understand formulas conceptually and you'll get an A.
The only advice I have for this class is study the webassign because the midterm and final will be on the hw in webassign.
MT1 39% MT2 53% F 63% the only reason i passed his class was most likely because he didn't want to see me again. Funny guy, study the webassign/ wileyplus homework and u should be fine. i'm just a lil dummy so take this guy.
To pass exams, easy. Multi-part questions taken straight from the homework. Skip the lectures, grab a physics tutor, and do the homework a few times. Don't bother listening to a word out of his mouth. Chuang is the perfect embodiment of CSULB physics department -- inept, dishonest, and rude. If you ask a question in class, he will belittle you.
Probably the worst professor I've ever known. Very thick and difficult to understand accent. This guy requires you to pay for online homework, then the tests are straight from it, hence why he's easy. His lectures are just yelling to do problems, never explains anything. Asked him why I got a test problem wrong, cut my grade in half on that test.
The lecture is the biggest waste of time I have ever experienced in my life. If you want to learn dont even bother taking his course. He spends his lecture giving extra credit that goes .01% towards your grade and you can receive a maximum of 100 points... 1%. iClicker points are useless but mandatory, just makes it harder than it should be. NOPE
Grading on tests is unclear. Based completely on webassign homework. Lectures are almost useless, so read the book and practice webassign
Nice guy, but he's pretty hard to understand. Most of the time the lectures confused me more than helped me. I had to get all of my information from the book. His exams only have three questions, mostly taken from the weekly webassign. Don't take him if you have a choice, but you can still survive.
Study the webassign like its from God himself. Learn how to derive the formulas. Tests have three questions from webassign. Use Chegg to learn how to do ALL the webassign and you'll be fine. Read the book
Avoid! He will not curve this class. PLEASE DO NOT take this class with any of your CS courses, especially CECS 282. It will ruin the experience at CSULB! If you are taking PHYS 152, please try to take it before hitting 200 level courses or after 400 level courses!
TERRIBLE TEACHER! Belittles students who are genuinely trying to learn, makes inappropriate jokes in class, and does literally nothing to teach students. Best advice don't take! If your stuck with him study webassign and avoid going to class, it will make you dumber.
There are 2 MT and final. All his exams are literally off Web assign so if you memorize and understand how to do those problems then you should do well. Dr. Chuang does not grade his own exams, he has graders. His lectures really helped me conceptually but for problems Web assign is crucial. He is an easy A as long as you do your part!! Recommend.
All 2 midterms and final are literally webassign. 1st MT is 15% of grade, 2nd MT is 20%, and final is 25%. This scale could work against or in your favor. If you understand webassign problems you should be able to do exams, no formulas provided. He is not the worst professor but not the best. Iclicker is 5%.
first week was difficult trying to understand his strong accent. honestly you dont need to show up to class if you have chegg, but it is helpful to go for the iclicker points and extra credit. he appreciates it when you participate in class. exams are 100% from homework (webassign) so study the heck outta those.
Tests based off web assign completely. iClicker isnt that hard. You can tell if the answer is yes or no based on what he says (example: "be careful with this one" usually means iclicker answer is no). Do the web assigns on flashcards so you have study material once the midterms and final come up
Dont forget understand the bad reviews, you need to put in the work for this class just like every other science class. He has a heavy accent but he really does care about his students, gives lots of extra credit in class. Always willing to help. If you study then you will be ok for the exam.
Lectures were the most useless I've ever experienced. Spends the entire class going over a single problem sometimes and very few students understand. I got a D but I could've got a better grade if I read the textbook and studied the Webassign more. Read the book and study the Webassign if you get stuck with him, but avoid him if possible.
Optional attendance and iClicker gone, so take advantage and save your brain cells from annihilation by avoiding his useless lectures, but turn in grn bk before test. Read from the textbook and study from the webassign hw; the tests will be based off the hw. Incoherently answers questions or doesn't answer them at all, pointing you to the textbook.
Worst professor I have had so far! His lectures are useless and the way he grades does not make sense. Get Chegg if you want to pass his class with a decent grade.
prof's funny and caring, but grade test very hard. you must be clear about what you write. lecture only covers basic things while homework is expanded. I have to read a bit into the book and search for solutions online or ask the TAs. i failed my first 2 exams and studied a lot for final, and pulled grade to A just for that final.
One of the worst professors I've ever met. Lectures were very stressful, as he constantly shouts at the class and rushes through material. Has an accent(non English)that makes it really hard to understand him at times. Repeatedly told the class "I will see you next year"implying that we would fail his class. Honestly learned from the textbook more.
Hes extremely rude. He mocks students when they ask questions, insisting you should have learned the content in high school. Quizzes are worth 25% of your grade but he wont tell you the dates. Tests are 50 multiple choice questions in 50 minutes! You will leave feeling discouraged and embarrassed to ask for help.
Seems like a kind person but an absolutely horrible teacher. Be ready to either learn the material by yourself or through others. Overall Grade is heavily impacted by the Pop quizzes. Literally the first day of class he asked us (without any teaching) what Newton's Principles were. Goodluck
Chuang does not care for your grade if I'm being honest. There's really no excuses if you're taking his class, it's either you pass or fail. Attendance is mandatory because of his pop quizzes. The way he teaches is by reading off the powerpoint & expects everyone to know the answer. He waits for someone to say the right answer for every question.
The professor has to be the worst teacher/professor I've had. He cannot teach well and does not explain things correctly. He assumes all his students have prior knowledge so he doesn't go in-depth with the concepts. Even if you ask him to! Whatever you do, AVOID THIS PROFESSOR IF YOU WANT TO PASS PHYSICS!
Avoid at all costs! You WILL be teaching yourself. He has good intentions but does not do a great job at explaing things AT ALL. Lecture powerpoints are all over the place and he explains as if u already have a background in the material. Said on the first say that on avg 50% fail the course. Huge gap between A students and F students. DO NOT TAKE!
Lectures are not helpful and he often uses different coefficients than in the book or on other websites. Book will be your best friend, hard pass from me.
Impossible to get in any contact with besides office hours for 30 mins a week. Emails will not be responded to as a heads up. Randomly assigns quizzes and lectures will not be helpful. Stick to the book if you want to pass.
Just finished taking his final. Syllabus said it covered chapters 7-11. He said that the final would cover chapter's 7-11. The final covered everything throughout the semester. This class shouldn't be hard but it is because Professor Chuang has poor teaching abilities. If you have the choice, avoid him. If not, read the book and get help.
Attended lectures only for attendance and pop quizzes. Prof seems caring and kind but cannot teach. His jokes sometimes could be seen as a mockery of the students haha. Both midterms were only 5%, quizzes were 25%, and the final was 20% (which tanked my grade down a letter). We had WebAssigns to complete every week and had quizzes almost every week
Professor Chuang is an extremely difficult professor. He makes it very clear he is willing to fail you. Do not expect his lectures to be helpful a mastery of the hw is the only way to pass the tests which are almost all of you're grade. This professor should be AVOIDED! DO NOT TAKE!
He made you feel discouraged if you asked a question in class. Lectures weren't clear. Every class period I felt like running through a brick wall. Your best bet is to watch YouTube videos and go to tutoring from someone else. Avoid him if you can if not good luck.

Horrible teacher. Probably here for research because he has no teaching ability. Constantly misunderstands students', makes students pay $70 for Wileyplus because he's too lazy to write and grade material, reads off the slideshows instead of actually teaching, no note cards for tests despite insisting Physics is not about memorisation. DO NOT TAKE!
Pretty awful instructor. Haven't finished the class so far but it's been the worst class I've had at Long Beach and it's 100% due to the professor. The lectures are completely worthless for the material that he puts on the exams. Pay very little attention to the lectures, and focus on working through the textbook and homework. TEACH YOURSELF
This professor is extremely lazy. Don't take him he does not explain in depth anything. Reads off slides and does not even know how to help with the homework. A student asked something about the homework and he says to email another teacher. Unacceptable that CSULB would hire this professor. What were they thinking?
Probably one of the worst professors I've had period. Quite difficult to learn in his class as his explanations get too complex and confusing. Exams are difficult as they are multiple-choice 50 questions+ types of exams. Seems like a great guy but his class was difficult. Asking questions is a hit or miss with him.
just started 2 weeks ago. hasn't taught anything. still trying to decide if i need to drop him. physics is my major so i need to understand the material. thick accent. sweet guy. shouldn't be allowed to teach as he shows no experience in getting students to understand anything.
He does not teach whatsoever. Lectures are pointless, he sits in his chair and waits for students to teach themselves rather than do the teaching. Exams are exactly the WebAssign, so find a friend who has a better professor to help you with the homework. I may have gotten an okay grade but I have not learned one thing in this class whatsoever.
TERRIBLE! Do not take this man. He is old with no knowledge of the subject. Makes the TA do everything. No curves and no cheat sheet. He makes this class feel like a level 400 class and expects you to know everything already. He has so many complaints from every student. IDK how he is still teaching at his age with his lack of knowledge.
Lecture is very unhelpful, as he talks very slow and performs only a few problems in class that are dissimilar from the tests. He rarely answers questions and only directs you to ask the TA. The test averages are low and he does not curve them. He is a nice guy, but very unhelpful. There is a grade curve at the end that was never mentioned prior.
