In addition to her seemingly supernatural energy, which does not seem bounded by earthly limits (the class was 3.5 hours long), her obvious passion, great communication skills, she is patient, tolerant, and fair. The class was a real eye-opener. Great.

Class was fun and interesting. She is very knowledgeable and charming, gives 100% of herself. Great story-teller.

fabulous teacher: devoted, enthusiastic & inspirational. I haven't encountered such dedication from a professor ever since I imigrated from Europe. work load is out of control, but she doesn't make a big deal if you skip a home work or two.

Highly motivated, very receptive to other points of view. Lots of class discussions. Significant work-load but managable.

I really enjoyed her class. Originally, I read these bad reviews about her, and was scared. Now that it's behind me, I really learnt alot. Her class is very interesting if you enjoy history. She goves a lot of homework, but its easy to handle. Dont worry about the other reviews, she is great!

not as hard as everyone made her sound, i was really scared i would fail based on e/o's reviews but if you do the work and participate in class she will like you and give you an A

very nice professor, reasionable amount of work, likes class particapations, fair grader, over all very good professor knows her meterial and want to give it to you. keeps class under contole. do the reading other wise you cannot pass. exama are strikly base on reading and her lecture.

after reading all these ratings i was afraid to take her but i had no choice and she really wasn't bad, as long as you do the work (and she tells you exactly what it will be in the beginning on the syllabus, no surprises) you will get an A , she usually came late and let us out early which was definately a + for a summer class 2 1/2 hours long

i think many of the previous comments were out of order- i took her in the summer in bc and as long as u participated somewhat and did the readings u can get an A. She came at least 10 minutes late for each class and let us out at 8 instead of 8:30- very helpful if u need but 1 issue- she really doesn't like is when people miss 2 many classes

Helpfull and understanding of all needs of the students. Makes great class discussions. Also makes one think and annalize. Debates were fun and interesting.

Prof Toktamis is very smart and funny. She keeps classes very interesting and fun to participate in. She is very opinionated but always factual at the same time. I respect her opinions because they are well thought out and never emotionalized just based on ideas. She's hard to get in touch with but I would still take more of her classes if I could.

I dont know what people are complaining about she seems leanent as long as YOU DO YOUR WORK!! its not alot either there are NO TESTS just response papers and journals and a BOOK REVIEW!! dont listen to the slackers who gave her BAd Grades!!

I dont have a clue what everyone is complaining about, at least I didnt have an issue with here in the core 2.3 class. She begs people to participate in class and is very open to everyones opinion, as long as your opinion makes sense. She lets you do the tests at home and just re-write them in class, all essays and the class is very informative.

Grades with bias. Thinks nothing of making outrageous claims without fact to back it up. Is resentful when corrected and will adjust grades accordingly. Knowledgeable, but hard to trust what's fact and what's fiction. A lot of useless trivia that is supposed to impress. Does not respect students. An insecure person with an inflated ego.

I absolutely understand people who do not recommend her: she wants you to come on time, to think, to understand, to learn. She wants 4 reviews, midterm and final paper! If you want a good grade w/o doing anything, she is definitely not for you. After 4 years at BC, I met somebody challenging and interesting enough to make me eager to come to class

I had this prof in the summer. She wants you to be on time, to participate, and to do your work: your good for an A(I got an A+). Not difficult if you are a good student. Difficult if you want to be constantly late and write like a 7th grader. There is nothing overtly bad about this professor. O and don't walk into class with a huge ego.

Not for the faint of heart. She will challenge your thinking AND the way you work. I view these as assets. For those commenters who claim she has an "anti-American" bias, you may wish to consider if you know what you're talking about. Highly rated--if you want to learn.

As TYRANICAL as she was and as much as I wanted to knock her teeth out everytime I went to her class n despite my C, truth and the matter is her class is extremely interesting, you learn quite a bit (hince I'm using such word as tyranical) she will challenege the heck out of you BUT you'll come out learning a lot that you can use in a conversation.

very interesting class, a lot of time is spend discussing current events and relating course material. toktamis is very entertaining. jumps around the classroom, spontaneously imitates people and wears a headset with glasses on it. she is very opinionated and has a b****y side (that i love) to be taken with a grain of salt.

This professor is not nearly as bad as she is made out to be. She challenges you and gives a fair amount of work, but the discussions are rather interesting. She doesn't push her beliefs on you but does force you to think outside the box. If you are open to other perspectives aside from your own, take her, you will enjoy it!

She made me really uncomfortable at the beginning of the semester, but by the end I learned to take her offensive comments with a grain of salt (ex. "Your boyfriends should beat you" for not knowing details of Women's Liberation Movement in America). But in the end, I warmed up to her. She means no harm; has a lot of passion and zest for life.

Excellent. I could be mistaken, but this is college, not community college, not a low rated college, a fairly good college. She teaches at Pratt, a good school too. Her teaching is enticing, hilarious and motivating. I don't know how she taught in the past, but I did not see any type of the "totalitarian" behavior said in just about every comment.

And yes, you do need to write a 15 paragraph essay (min). You cannot possibly think that is a lot of work. Don't go to college.

She's a GREAT professor.. I highllly recommend her. her class is soo easy, the politics core class, she gives you all the information you need ,, you don't have to read the book. just take notes and you'll be more than fine. GREAT PROF.

Was intimidated by the amount of assignments at first but it was totally double. Do your work, stop complaining and you will be more than fine! She knows the material and will help you!
