This guy is a total jerk. He refuses to give full credit on anything because "no paper is ever correct". Our group spent a total of 8 hours EACH WEEK of out of class doing projects, and this was reduced down due to it being a 7 1/2 week course. Don't complain either he says, because the 15 week course students have more work to do. Complete jerk!
No way you're going to gget an "A" (A- is the max). Guy is a total jerk and unhelpful to a fault. First test is easy, second test is impossible. On the flipside, no way you're going to get lower than a C-. I'm over it, but he's an embarrassment to the COB.
Dr. Banerji is extremely passionate on management strategy, overall business information, and his concern for students learning. Grading is fair, workload is somewhat heavy, but it is interesting and you will enjoy learning.
This is a really good professor, very enthusiastic about teaching and exceptionally knowledgeable. There are a lot of projects, but you will learn a lot if you take it seriously. I highly recommend this instructor.
Great prof. You can tell he has a real passion for what he does. Always helpful and easy to get in touch with. Half the class was an online team simulation which was alot of fun and gave us a good chance to make business decisions and see how they affected our company. If you want to enjoy comming to class take this guy.
Lecturers are always better when the instructor is truly enthusiastic about the topic. This is the case with Dr. B. There’s a lot of work but you know what’s coming, so plan your time well. Dr. Banerji is a great lecturer, an outstanding person, and a fine Floridian.
Great sense of humor.Like him a lot. Tough but fair. Teaches very well. You will learn a lot.
demanding
Interesting Class; Makes the class fun and has a unique sense of Humor. Workload is very manageable. Tests can tend to be a little tricky.
Banerji knows what he is talking about. Very intelligent. If you care and participate, you will learn a lot. He is by no means handing out "A's" but does a very good idea teaching the material. Don't be lazy and you will come away learning quite a bit.
Tough but fair is very accurate. Funny sense of humor. There were times where you were like wow, did he just say that. Made things fun.
Prof. Banerji wasted unnecessarily large amounts of time in class covering irrelevant material. Blamed students for low test scores while refusing to offer a study guide or study session, only inconvenient office hours. is incomprehensible at times. dry sense of humor doesn't make class any better.
Banerji is...God.
Very challenging course. Covers A LOT of material and refuses to discuss/help after low exams. If you are willing to put in A TON of extra time, you might get a B. I have a 3.8 in college and this class basically killed me. Make sure your group is good too, because there is a TON of group work.
One of those prof's that tells great stories but tests purely from the book. He talks really fast and with a heavy accent but that just makes him even more hilarious. And-he-always-leaves-really-big......pauses-in-the-sentence. He is NOT lenient on late assignments or disputed test questions. Late comers sit first row, in the "circle of knowledge."
Good, and friendly.
Good teacher
His syllabus scared the hell out of me, but it boiled down to some pretty simple tasks. Write the papers, read the book, ask questions and youll do fine. The man is brilliant, and will bring out the best in you.
very strong accent, hard to understand!! lots of workload...too much!!!
He is a great teacher. There was lot of work to do. But I learned a lot from his class.
DO NOT TAKE IB 610 with this professor! The class is not difficult but he makes a lot of work to satisfy his ego. For all assignments the students generate everything: case reports, essay tests, papers, presentations. He barely does anything in class...talks for maybe 30 mins about unrelated topics.
Terrible professor. Terrible. Test were unreasonably long. Work load was excessive even for grad school. Didn't grade several classmates papers and waited until the last minute to grade anything. Disorganized. Can dish work out but can't grade it. Weak.
Awful. More than 50% of your grade is a group project that you have no control over. He canceled a whole week of class in a 7.5 week semester, and lives out-of-state, so he's never around. Assignment grades are late, unfair, and random.
Lots of work with little or no involvement from the professor, very late grading, no feedback for assignments - students hardly know where they can improve, syllabus presented very late to students, EMUOnline website opened without being updated for the current semester,my worst EMU experience. An interesting subject, good materials.
Class was 7.5 weeks long and Dr. Banerji started a week late. A lot of material to absorb in 16 weeks, let alone 7.5 weeks. Prof's lectures are useless and tests are unreasonable due to the detailed required in essay answers and time limit. Prof provides late and limited feedback. Very disorganized and extremely late on all grading.
Professor Banjeri is a difficult professor but I enjoyed his class. I didn't like have to work that much with a group but overall I am happy I took his class.
He is a great professor. He makes you work hard - but you learn a lot in his class. Has a wide perspective about world events.
Professor grades based on his opinion. He allows students to grade presentations. He is a difficult grader, unclear in expectations, and will not help guide you in writing! But expects you to know what he wants! Tells you what he wanted after the fact! Aim high on your work, but He will find ways to take points away!
He is good instructor but makes you do a lot of work. In his class we did a business simulation which was very engrossing. His test are not the easiest but one can definitely score good on them provided one knows the material.
Very disorganized. Extremely heavy workload but he can't ever seem to find time to grade the assignments. Expecations on assignments are not clear. Exams are timed essay tests, which are graded subjectively and very difficult. Hard to believe that someone teaching graduate students could be this disorganized and unreliable.
Nothing was graded until after all assignments were turned in. Couldn't understand the audio lectures - many words were pronounced incorrectly. Not convinced that grading wasn't arbitrary, since there was little to no feedback on grades. Unlikely he read papers - one sentence generic feedback or no feedback at all. No one in class of 25 got an A.
This prof took vacation for 7 of the 7.5 weeks of class. we received NO feedback until all assignments were turned in. He gave general feedback to the class, not feedback about individual papers. Audio lectures were horrible to listen to. I am CONVINCED that he made up grades for everyone. Not hard but not educational.
Avoid at all costs! Took in Fall 2010 and he assigned work each week, which is fine, but did not grade ANYTHING until early November! Tests are 10 essay questions - requiring great detail - in 2.5 hours. Audio lectures are often incomprehensible due to heavy accent. Rarely responds to emails. Terrible professor.
Tough to get over the accent and how fast he talks. I'm a 3.7 student and I haven't gotten an A on anything except peer-graded presentation. Takes points off for whatever he feels like. Refused to and "can't" read a paper without subheadings. Mostly group work so GET A GOOD GROUP. Get Sholtis if you can
While somewhat unorthodox, the man is kind of a genius. He is not necessarily easy but he is clear about what is expected and has entertaining lectures. He likes to relate business to history and wars which is actually very interesting. He has high expectations, but if you take advantage of this course, you can learn a lot.
He is a great professor. I took his Strategy course and he brought a variety of examples to explain the concepts. Some people complain about the Venture Strategy game - but he is very straightforward in grading it. I would recommend his MGMT 490 course. Had a great time.
Great professor. Explains very well. I like his ties!
One of the best profs I had. Great feed back rom him and on time!
Dr. B was one of the best professors I had in Eastern. He works very hard, and makes everyone work hard too! Great examples and videos too!
Great examples. This helped me in remembering the concepts very well.
He is a decent professor and knows his stuff. But a lot of people I talked to outside of class totally disagree with rate my professor and say their reviews got deleted. I hope that isn't true.
I'll post this again because it got deleted the first time. DO NOT TAKE HIM! He doesn't grade anything until the end of the semester. This means no feedback and no information on what you need to do to improve your work. You won't even know your grade until the end of the semester. Worst Proff I've ever had.
Great professor.
He's a character. He tends to babble off subject at times. Half of your grade is group work, so make sure you have a good group. One thing I dislike about the class is the simulation game. The game is worth too many points, so make sure to do well on it.
Banerji isnt that great of a professor. He likes to spend more time on here reporting bad reviews and typing up his own positive reviews. Take anyone but Banerji. I pray this doesn't get reported.
I am taking a course with Banerji right now. He is a very decent professor. Brings a lot of outside perspective to the course.Currently, I am enjoying is course very much.
Took him in summer for a OB class. Enjoyed it very much.
Good prof.
I like the examples he uses in class.
Enjoying his class right now.
His grading is purely based on his opinion, it takes him weeks to grade assignments, he rambles on about irrelevant subjects during the class, provides too many personal examples which have nothing to do with the subject matter. DO NOT TAKE HIM!
I highly suggest that you DO NOT take MGMT490 w/ Banerji. He's rude, unhelpful with questions (constanlty talks down to you), goes off on tangents and talks way too fast. He'll waste the first hour on a tangent and then speeds through the powerpoints in the last 15 min. Take any other professor besides Banerji if you care about learning something.
He is difficult to understand and rude. Spends too much time talking about India and his imaginary version of history. Two weeks ago kept on playing Indian commercials for 15 minutes .... Why? To make it even worst , he thinks he is funny and makes sick jokes. The worst professor in EMU.
I hope someone takes a look at his teaching method. the only students who enjoy his class are the ones who share his extreme left political points of view. If you are a liberal you can take him but be careful he is a character. . . . unpredictable, disorganized, opinionated, and does not answer emails.
I have really enjoyed this class. Dr. B is very knowledge about the course content and provides very helpful and realistic examples relating to the course content. I highly recommend taking this course with Dr. B if you really want to get the most that you can out of it.
Dr. B is one of the worst professors in EMU!!!! His pre-recorded audio lectures are very difficult to understand and he turns everything into politics. I would not recommend taking him!
DO NOT take benarji, this professor is rude and unhelpful
Contrary to some of the earlier comments I must say that I enjoy his class. His focus is broad and brings in a lot of perspective that is beyond the narrow confines of academia.
He is a good professor, I enjoyed the Venture Strategy game in his course. It is a good game and helps you to understand the business. I feel he needs to improve his tests.
I am in his class and enjoying it. Yes he has an accent but I can follow his lectures. However, he talks fast - that makes him difficult to follow at times. I enjoy the video clips he uses from youtube.
I enjoyed the Venture Strategy Game in his class.I think he needs to improve his grading of the game.
I enjoy both the Venture Strategy Game and the case analysis. My only complain is that he talks too fast.
I like his teaching. He is very personable and helpful. He dealt very well with a disruptive student in the class. Planning to take a second course with him.
Enjoyed the class. He is very funny.
I think he is a great teacher contrary to my scoring, he is definitely difficult, but is fair. He is very good at getting you to understand material through lectures, so even if the exams are hard, paying attention in class will help you a lot.
Dr. B is very enthusiastic, and makes the subject matter more interesting. Case studies are lengthy, and tests are very difficult-know your terms and study the theories, and you will score much better. The strategy game was super fun and the competition made class much more interesting. I would take him again!
He's a great teacher. I would definitely recommend taking him for strategy. Go to class, study all your notes, and you should be fine.
I just finished this course and got my grades - looks like he is an easy grader.
I enjoyed his class. I learned a lot on globalization in this course and helped me develop a new perspective towards movement of jobs, capital and technology all over the world.
Great prof. Wish he spoke a little slower.
Great examples. Goes over material very carefully. Has accent.
I am taking his class right now. It is 2.5 hour session - but he keeps everybody alert with his "examples" and short video clips. He expects people to be on time.
I took the class last fall - small class of 7 people. Had a great time. Prof is very approachable. A bit of stickler for assignments on time.
Professor Banerji pushes students to learn a lot of information and brings in great real world knowledge about topics covered. A great course, with a highly interactive presentation/debate class style. This class was the easiest to attend and stay engaged of all the MBA courses I have completed so far.
I just finished his IB 610 course. He is a great teacher very knowledgeable and excited about what he teaches. I liked his hands-off style. he make you work hard, but you learn a lot in his class.
Unrealistic amount of work for someone working full time. Worst part is you bust your butt off on assignments and all he does is throws some circles and lines on your paper to make it look like he read it. Then slaps a random grade on it.Class = 3 online exam, 2 chapter presentation, 3 7pg single spaced papers, 1 10pg paper+prez, 2 article reviews
Dr. Banerji did not lecture during class and expected the class to listen to recorded lectures online during the week. There was no discussion of the course material reviewed at home in class. The material was covered on the exam. Banerji basically had the class present articles and companies to each other and gave his personal opinion on subjects
Dr. B has a hands off approach to the class. It was a "hybrid" course and he did not lecture much - but he provided very good insights. Workload was heavy though.
I enjoyed his comments and his variety of examples.
He is very lazy. Have fun getting ahold of him and he grades extremely tough when he doesn't clearly define what he's looking for. No instruction for group project just says do it. Terrible teacher. Make sure you read every word of every chapter because even though he doesn't go over all of it, it will all be on his 3-4 chapter long tests.
His project work guidelines could be more specific.
The whole class is based on a simulation game. It's pretty easy and all of his tests are online and the you can just google most of the questions. You'll need the book for the case studies---Buy the hardcover book because the cheaper paperback ones don't have the cases.
Online exams. He loves cars so there's a lot of references in lectures. Forces participation, but if you have the power points printed out the answers are right there. There's a huge group project worked on the entire semester but he provides a clear outline. Don't buy the book, its custom for the class, but i really wasted my money.
I enjoyed the business simulation game.
great teacher.
Goof prof.
Pick a good group! Group projects are 60% of grade and you don't want to be stuck with all the work. Presentations everyone must participate, even in answering questions or it will affect your grade. Case Studies, tough grader. Give him big picture then break it down. Online Strategy Exercise - watch videos first, take notes, then do timed exercise
This professor would consistently make VERY inappropriate remarks to the class. Also very unhelpful with feedback, and tends to try and pit groups against each other. Generally his tests did not correspond well to materials covered in lecture. Lectures tended to be countless examples about cars and the auto industry.
I am in his class this winter semester and enjoying it.
Great prof -nice sense of humor
There was a lot of group work in this class and there are points for participation forcing you to never miss class. He made us name tags to use throughout the entire semester and on the first day she had each student stand up in front of the class and introduce themselves. I definitely recommend him.
Dr. Banerji is FANTASTIC! I have this course for the current term, and in spite of it being the most labor intensive course, and group work heavy course, I really love it. If you put in the work, you should do well, because grading is based on many factors. Prof is funny. One caveat, I took it with three other courses and it made some LATE nights.
I learned a lot in this class and it really challenged me. One caveat, make sure you do the work early so the end of the semester is not as difficult and prepare well for the tests with notes and highlighted items. Other than that, just be prepared to read and be busy. I would recommend this course.
Awesome professor, intelligent and funny. One of the best classes I had at Eastern.
As a senior worst teacher ever. His objective to trick students. His exam questions deceptive & tricky. He does not provide sufficient clarity when giving assignments: strategy excursive (didnt say we would have to relate to concepts), cases (no Ex). He does not go over any concept that will be in the exam, he talk about cars. Stay away!
Enjoying his class
AVOID!! I've never written a review before but he is an AWFUL professor and I don't want others making the mistake like I did and taking him! tests are not easy and has nothing to do with the lecture. Horrible at explaining what he wants you to do for assignments then gets mad when no one did it right! This class can be better with other profs !
i enjoyed the Venture Strategy Game.
He was very knowledgeable and excited about the subject at hand, and there was a lot that had to be done. If you are in a good group, that would help. One caveat: The highest grade you can get is an A-. Nevertheless, you will learn some interesting things along the way. Seriously, try not to wait until the last minute to do anything for this class.
He mde us work very hard.
his assignments helped me learn about the subject. brings a ver different perspective to class.
great prof
I enjoyed his class.
Honestly, he's the worst teacher i've ever had. He has a bunch of group projects so please pick your partners wisely. Every week you will have to write a 10 page single spaced essay and at the end of the semester you will have to write a 20 page single spaced essay. He is really harsh at grading and it is almost impossible to receive an A on them.
If you have the option, choose another professor. He was incredibly unclear on grading and how detailed the assignments should be, did not have a review on his 50 & 70 question exam that was expected to be finished within a small period of time. Venture Strategy game was not easy and make sure your group understands and actually puts in effort.
I don't know what the issue is with him from other students... Within the first 5 minutes of class, I laughed. He has a good sense of humor. I am currently in his accelerated course and there is a lot of work... but as you should expect with a 400 level course. I think he's gonna be a great professor.
He has a great sense of humor and keeps very one very engaged in the class.
He returns assignments very fast.
He is a tough grader and pushes student hard. But, you learn a lot.
Professor Banerji is perhaps the most confusing professor I've had. He will go off on rants criticizing your work, but the rants make no sense as he goes off on so many tangents. I have no idea what I was even being graded on at some points. I feel as though I've learned nothing from this class.
I found to be very clear and concise in his comments. He provides a rubric for all his grading . I wish he spent more time on lecturing. However, this being a hybrid class there is not enough class periods for lectures.
Just finished his class ... he is one of the best in the school.
If you do your work and show up, you'll be fine. He is by far one of the absolute worst professors I've ever had. He has zero respect for students, his only concern is his paycheck. If you must take this class and his class is the only option, you will likely pass. Make sure you pick a good group and if you have issues don't expect any help.
Dr. B really cares about the subject and is very much an expert on it. Really great at explaining different scenarios so students learn and understand the concepts. There is a lot of home work and projects but if you keep up with it the exams wont be as challenging. Dr. B is hilarious and very easy to talk with.
Did not learn a thing. Lectures often went way off topic, more often than not completely unrelated to class. Big group project at end, and presentation is brutal. He digs deep and bit-picks on every slide in front of class. Got an A- in summer, but would never take again. Absolutley awful. All online exam answers are online though so that was nice
Great prof.
Very good instructor. Pushes you to learn.
Great prof!
Would NOT recommend to take in the Summer; took as hybrid & the amount of work is overwhelming; Team projects are 60% of your grade -(3) 10 page case studies, (1) 15 pg simulation paper, (2) 15 min presentations and (2) exams taken on Lockdown 75Q with 75 minutes & weekly simulation meetings/decisions. Lost my 4.0 with this Prof.
He made us work very hard.
One of the best profs I had at EMU. Keep it up Dr. B.
Didn't cover what was on the tests, most your grade is based in group projects and a simulation that's mostly luck.
Professor Banerji is one of the more knowledgeable professors at EMU. Anybody who is passionate about the sport of business will find great value in his lectures. There is a lot of group projects, but despite a weak group I still managed a very strong grade in the course.
I liked the professor very much.. but not too excited about the group project.
He made us work hard, but we learned a lot.
Great professor - brings a lot of outside perspective..
He uses the Marketplace game which really depends on the group you are in. His lectures were hilarious and sometimes went off topic but very informal. Get ready to hear "Think in this way" about 5 times. Overall he is a wonderful professor very enthusiastic and very approachable. Just don't forget your name card!
Class is mostly group work, a simulation game and papers/presentations that he doesn't give you a rubric for but then questions you in front of the whole class for not putting certain things in your presentation. He likes to call out students during lectures and not leave them alone until he gets the answer he wants. The worst professor I've had
I enjoyed his class
Enjoyed his class.
He is very helpful.
Makes you work hard
Do not take as a summer class. He was not prepared for a shortened semester and only lectured about course material for 10-15 minutes a class. Work is group cases, a group simulation game, participation, two presentations, and two tests. With it being an online class, there was a test on a Saturday. Took a long time to respond. Don't recommend.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND! He was not organized, would update the class only hours before class started, was not a good communicator, & no clear rubric or detail of expectations. All group work/grading: simulation game, 3-10 page case analysis, 2 extensive reports on simulation, 2 presentations, and 2 timed tests.
He was tough and the course was a lot of work.
Lots of work and clear communication.
I enjoyed being in his class.
Online courses, and he responds very quick.
This is an online class and he is very responsive.
He is very responsive in an online teaching environment.
He is good.
He will make you work hard.
Dr. Banerji is not the best professor I've had. He doesn't provide directions on assignments and changes his expectations often. He forgets a lot of what you've talked about too. This class was not at all what I expected it to be.
Enjoyed his class
Great professor for this class. Can be a bit tough on some occasions, but just do your best and you should be fine. He is very organized.
Don't take this class unless you like stress and being called out like in high school. Banerji acts like he's angry with you from day one, demands cameras be on in zoom calls, and has extremely specific requirements that can ruin your grade if you miss even one. Also, he screams. A lot. My headphones suffered in this class.
He talks with a slight accent.
Explains theory very well
What an awesome teacher. Very enthusiastic about teaching, very funny. Seriously, best jokes ever. Totally bald, totally hot. I must've drank like nine, ten Pepsis during his class.
If you enjoy being called out and bullied by a professor then this class is the one for you. Do not be fooled by the positive reviews that are on here, most of them if not all were made by him. He is aggressive and will yell at his students when they do not give him the right answer. If you have any dignity at all, avoid this class at all costs.
He talks loud but is an easy grader.
Talks alot. Attendance is mandatory. Easy grader. Show up to classes, do the work and you should be fine. He incorporates real life examples in this lectures.
Very helpful in completing projects.
Don't take this professor! Unorganized, the structure of the course is very hard to navigate. U have to buy a $45 license for a required business game u work on with your group during the semester which was not mentioned on the syllabus! Won't recommend it to any 1, he isn't accessible outside of class & responds late to ?'s u have over email.
Dr. B is a nice guy at his core... but he spends the 3 hour lectures going off on tangents (he thinks are important) but are not truly pertinent to the content. This is a capstone class and I truly don't believe the meetings are set up to teach us how to succeed in the simulation. For "20 + years" of teaching business, I'd expect clearer teaching.
I find the business simulation game very interesting. He provides a lot of material.
Professor Banerji is a very professional individual. He is very passionate about his work and gives real-life examples. I was never bored in his class. Loves You-tube. Overall a very interesting and likable individual.
Dr.B is a skilled and engaging teacher who constantly finds time to assist struggling students. Although the course material can be difficult at times, he does an excellent job of explaining it and making it simple to understand. I would unquestionably suggest enrolling in one of her classes!
Lots of group activities.
Get a beverage ready for this drinking game to get through one of his classes: take a drink every time he says "Tink in dis way", goes off on a tangent about automotive or oil companies, or misses giving you instructions for your upcoming assignment. I promise you it'll make the 3 hours of gibberish fly by.
Very quick in providing feedback.
One of the best professors I have had at EMU. Easy grader, minimal homework, group project, easy class overall. DO the work and you'll pass.
gives lots of examples
Good professor
Prof B is engaging, though his classes can be tangent-heavy. Stay focused, do the work, and you'll do well. Unstuck ai was a lifesaver for prepping with practice questions.
Honestly one of the worst classes I've had at EMU. Took this as an asynchronous course and most assignments are GROUP work. Makes you pay for a text book and for a simulation, which again is a group project. Takes forever to grade work and very rude when you ask a question through email regarding his confusing canvas setup. Avoid this professor.
He is overall a great professor. He has a hard time getting to the point when you ask a question sometimes but he does know what he's doing. He owns a business himself so he knows what is expected. (if you take 488L2 winter 2026 you get extra credit - would recommend)
