Highly intelligent with a gift to impart knowledge! A+
Great Teacher, understanding with late or make-up work, and good at making new ideas easy to comprehend.
Very nice teacher - class can be challenging at times - but he's also very helpful.
Very nice teacher, helpful willing to stay after class to help answer questions. Understanding and willing to help give you an extra push
Awesome Teacher. May very well be the smartest math teacher I have had. Teaches very well. Great notes and great test reviews! One problem though, he is going to stop teaching Math 176. Highly Reccomended for all other classes though!!
Kurt was amazing. I almost failed 096 and got an A in 120. He starts with simple examples and then works up to difficult. His practice tests are useful study tools. Take him for any math class.
Will go way out of his way to help you with math. He prepares you for test and quizes, and is very fair. He was recently given the instructor of the year award. Just goes to show. The class is still very challengeing.
Great teacher, one of the best I've ever had. He will do anything he can to help you not just pass, but learn his courses. I can't recommend him enough!
The best math teacher at tmcc. He will help you understand the math in real life situations. He is awesome!!!
Kurt doesn't use the book very much, he only uses it as a reference for the homework problems. He teaches everything you need to know in class, and the book, it turns out, is free online. His tests are concept based; they aren't hard - you know it or you don't. He offers a lot of extra-curricular activity, and will help with just about any math Q.
Hands down the best math teacher I have ever had. His office of always open and he is always available to help. One of the few professors I've had who really cares about his students!
You will notice that Kurt has not one bad rating. This man is the best math teacher I have had in my entire sequence of math classes. He is personable, knowledgeable and passionate about what he does. I could not recommend anyone more highly. Attend class, take notes and go to his office hours and you are almost guarenteed an "A". He's The Best!!!
Kurt is the best math teacher I have ever had. He is very passionate about the subject and gives excellent examples. He is always available to help in his office. If you go to his office or math lab, you are pretty much guaranteed an A.
In one word Kurt is AMAZING! He is really helpful and very devoted to his classes. Will go out of his way to help anyone. He really does try to pass everyone, even if they don't deserve it at times. He is incredibly smart and totally goofy in a good way. Kurt Ehlers and Ted Lambert are the reasons why I love math!
Dude was seriously awesome. The best math teacher I have EVER had. No doubt about it. Brought in his skateboard, and showed us the tricks he was working on on the day of the final exam. If you can take a class from him, do it.
One of the best teachers ive ever had and definitely the best math teacher. take any one of his classes if you can. never heard a negative thing about him.
Best Math teacher by far. I was not solid in Math but he made it easy to learn and kept it interesting. If you need to take a Math class that he teaches, sign up!!!
I had trouble up to the last week in this class. I knew the material, but had trouble with a lot of the tests and homework. I asked for help and he gave it to me. Luckily for me, he doesn't grades you on your progress and improvement in the class. In other words, if you're a horrible test taker, but know the material, show him and you can pass :D
Kurt is one of the best college-level professors I've ever had, math or otherwise. He gives of his time endlessly. He is a fair grader, tester, and gives a range of homework difficulty which is never overwhelming if you stay on top of it and seek help when needed. He is very flexible and the best guy all around.
Best teacher at TMCC hands down. The smartest guy I have ever meet, and he knows how to teach your the knowledge he knows. He is not strict doesnt take attendance and tells you whats on his tests.
Best teacher I've ever had. He offers extra credit and works with you until you understand the material. I'm in math 181 and I still go to him for help. Smartest person I've met.
One of the best math teachers I have ever had. He genuinely care about how well you do. Even if you are not great at math he makes it understandable. He doesn't give trick question, and make his tests passable if you know the material
Just finished MATH 176 (Business Calculus) with Kurt Ehlers, and he is by far the BEST math teacher you could ever hope to have. He is available all the time to help you with any math-based questions and he is extremely enthusiastic about teaching. I HATED math and by the end of the semester I was actually sad to leave his class.
Loved his class! He's a great teacher and will help you succeed! One of the nicest and smartest people I have ever met! Also has a great sense of humor. If you can take his class!!
I absolutely loved Kurt's class. He passionately cares about what he does and wants you to do well in his class. You can ask him a million questions and he'll help you every single time. I highly recommend him. I failed calculus once before with another teacher so I retook this class and thanks to Kurt I ended up with an A this second time around.
Intelligent, but approachable. One of the only "math geeks" you will ever meet that isn't socially disfunctional. Excellent for anyone one who is math-phobic. Makes math 127 a very common sense process.
Intelligent, but approachable. One of the only "math geeks" you will ever meet that isn't socially disfunctional. Excellent for anyone one who is math-phobic. Makes math 176 very common sense process.
Very Helpful! He realy knows math. (He took 65 math courses when he was in college.) He made math understandable!
Kurt is by far one of the best math teachers I've ever had. He makes math fun and I know a lot of people don't like math, but he will make you want to come to class! He makes everything clear & easy to understand. He is very nice and helpful and interesting. I learned so much and I would definitely recommend him. He also has a great sense of humor!
This was THE BEST math class I have ever taken. He is so knowledgeable and helpful. He is one of the only professors I've had that cares about you succeeding. He was funny and tried to keep things interesting. I highly recommend Kurt to anyone, whether you struggle with math or not.
He is a professor excited about class. His class is fun and upbeat. he is easy to understand and can show you exactly how to get each and every answer. He is very helpful and always available if extra help is needed.
Kurt is a great teacher. He's also the instructor of the math league, which is a lot of fun. He makes math more entertaining than other teachers, and you can tell he really loves it. He's a fair grader and gives you a couple of chances at extra credit. I hope to take at least two more of his classes before I leave TMCC.
Really good professor...I'm glad I took this class; I've learned a lot!!
Curt is amazing, energetic and great at math. Even a person that hates math will enjoy his class. I would take any class offered by Curt. GREAT GREAT GREAT instructor
KURT IS AWESOME!!!! If you have the chance to take his class, do so. Great at explaining things, will work with you if uou need help, practice test/study sessions are basically the test, explains everything in simple terms, grades fairly. I wish he taught 181. Kurt goes above and beyond what he needs to just to make sure you learn the material.
Possibly the BEST MATH TEACHER EVER. He is very good at explaining things and making class fun. I was fearful of taking this class (for like 20 years) and I did really well. I loved his teaching style and how communicative he was. TAKE HIS CLASS!!!
Kurt is the best professor that I have had so far in college. He is high energy which is perfect for an evening class. REALLY good and making sure you understand the concepts. I wish there were more professors out there with such passion for their students. TAKE HIS CLASS FOR ANY MATH HE IS TEACHING!You will be happy you did!
By far the best professor I've ever had. He made calculus fun to learn and gave you real world examples that were easy to relate to. I wish I had more professors like him, he's excited to help you and is always there if you ever have any questions. HIGHLY recommend him.
Kurt is amazing. I took him for 127 and had issues with some topics. He will stop at no lengths to make sure you understand a concept. It is obvious how intelligent he is. He is funny and very personable, making it easy to pay attention in class
The BEST professor I've ever had! He's animated, upbeat, and has a way of explaining math concepts so that everyone understands. He encourages his students to meet in his office and will answer all questions until he is satisfied that you understand. His students' success is his top priority! TAKE HIM! 100% recommended!!!
Only used the book for weekly homework problems. Awesome professor! He will turn the weakest math student into one of the strongest. Tests are straight forward and not designed to stump you. He wants you to do well. I bet more than half of the class has an A. I'm excited to take more math now! Weird huh?
Kurt is one the best teachers I have ever had period. He does not care about your grade but that your learn, he will go out of his way to make sure students understand his class, he offers extra credit and will even come in on the saturday before test to offer extra help. he is the best
Kurt is phenomenal! He goes above and beyond to make sure students have every resource available to them to pass the class. He makes all of the material as clear as possible, and is willing to back track and explain any time you ask.
Doesn't matter if you are a 'math' person or not, Kurt can teach you anything if you just pay attention. 3 tests, 3 quizzes and weekly homework assignments. Extra credit is offered on tests and randomly throughout class via proofs or harder homework problems. Study guides are given before the test. Pro-tip: Go to Math League!
Very interesting. Overall a great teacher. The content was tough but he explained it very well. Gives extra credit on exams. Set schedule. Pay attention, study, and you can do well!
The best professor I have ever had. Kurt is amazing. One of those people you will never forget in your life. Truly a great man.
The best Math teacher at tmcc UNR!
awesome teacher..... best ever
Kurt is a great professor! He was by far my favorite in the math department at TMCC. He keeps things interesting, and he's always willing to sit down and talk with you or help you out where you need it.
Best math teacher who's ever lived. Never heard a bad thing about him. Just expect to do the work required, it's hard.
collect home works but grades depend on tests. review exam before the actual one, almost the same. He is realistic. Best one you could find in Nevada.
I can't say good enough things about Dr. Kert. His brilliant insanity inspired me to continue in math WAY past where I needed to, which is something because prior to his class I hated math. He makes the hard stuff understandable. Just take your time and ask for help, his office hours are whenever he isn't in class (including midnight).
Kurt is an excellent teacher. He always happy to answer questions, and if you need extra help his office is always open. The tests are extremely easy if you study the after class sheet he hands out and the practice tests. There really is no struggle for help as it's around every corner, and free food study if you come into the before test study.
The best professor at unr/tmcc
He's one of the best math professors at TMCC. The class is easy to pass but hard if you don't pay attention in class or do the HW.
Take him. If you are unsure whether to take him or someone else, Kurt is the right answer. He makes math so unbelievably simple. He's not an easy teacher because he doesn't care or because he's bad at what he does he just breaks everything down so well. He even gives Saturday review sessions because he cares so much. A+ teacher and A+ human being.
Kurt doesn't teach math, he IS math. Best math professor I had
Kurt Ehlers is the god of all math teachers. He is funny, he has such a positive attitude, and really TEACHES! He will slow things down and re-explain if needed and even if you're bad at math, he will make you good at it. I would bet my life on your success if this man is by your side.
Best professor I have ever had. Engaging and interesting lectures made calc III a breeze. His grading is fair and his tests have extra credit.
Very interesting lectures. Very knowledgeable guy and always willing to explain things. Also gives really easy extra credit. Made Calc III make a lot of sense; I would definitely take a class from him again. Best professor I've ever had.
One of the best teachers I've ever had. Extremely enjoyable lectures, with plenty of annecdotes and a great deal of extension into physics. Tests were easy (over 100% on every test), not because of the test themselves but rather because he was such an excellent teacher. Gives extra credit for things like drawing graphs on tests (he'll specify).
This is the best math class I have ever taken. Passionate, funny, and a genius. Only need book for homework which is NOT an overload. He has late classes but he is worth it.
The best math teacher I have EVER had. He is passionate about the subject and gives examples that relate to real life in order for you to understand why math is needed. Totally work taking classes that are later in the day. The most amazing professor and person at TMCC!!! Wish he taught 181
This is one of the more entertaining classes I've taken. The class itself was insanely difficult, but Kurt is an amazing professor. His office hours might turn out to be a necessity.
Great teacher. Super smart and knowledgeable
Kurt is seriously the best. You will enjoy this class and this professor. I cannot wait to take his 283 class. If you need 127 take this professor.
there is only homework once a week. Kurt is a fun teacher and gives all the information you need to get good grades on everything. Take precise notes and try and understand them. Do the homework and you will get an A. He is always willing to help
super great teacher, very helpful. the tests are the same as the study guide
Kurt is an awesome math teacher! His lectures are informative and entertaining and his homework is straightforward (he takes problems out of the math textbook). He has plenty of office hours if you need help. He gives practice exams, and they mirror the actual exam.
Kurt is a great teacher that takes the time to explain concepts and will help you in any way he can. There is only one homework due per week, and he currently has a session that goes the homework so that you can get help if you need it. He gives practice tests, and those mirror his actual tests. I highly recommend taking him!
You barely have to do any homework, if any, if you show up to his study halls. He is extremely passionate about math and is overall a fun professor. His tests are basically just the practice tests with minor changes. Highly suggest this teacher for any class.
Awesome class, I think I learned more and had a easier time in Kurt's summer class than I would have in a regular semester with the other Calc 1 profs.
I learned more in this Calc. 3 class than I have in any other class I've taken before. Kurt is excellent at describing what is going on in all of the computations. Kurt is also amazing at connecting math and physics in his class. Overall, super awesome class and super awesome prof. Would definitely take a class from him again.
Took his summer class at UNR, this class was difficult but he will make sure to teach you everything you need to know. Kurt is a really nice person and it's like he was born to do math, he would sometimes skip steps and do them in his head which was confusing for me but go to his office hours and he'll explain everything step by step.
If you have had Woody for Calc 2 you will face some difficulties in Kurt's class since he needs you to know the science behind everything but Woody just wanted you know how to solve things. An A is Woody's class was easy, an A in Kurt's class is hard to get but if you do get an A it's going to feel good because you know you've earned it.
Imma be honest with you all reading these reviews and thinking this class will be an easy A, IT WON'T. You need to study hard. Kurt is an amazing teacher, and a genuinely nice person, he is so different than other teachers that once I got a feeling that he is not from this planet, he knows math better than me knowing myself. Physics plays a role .
He goes heavy on physics which wasn't bad, take this class before Phys 180 if you want to have a strong understanding of simple physics concepts. He enjoys math in a really weird but cute way, like he doesn't have anything other than math and physics in his brain and he converts the most difficult questions to math and solves them.. Awesome prof
I've taken quite a bit of math classes and Kurt is by far the best math teacher I've had! He knows the subject amazingly and you will actually learn in his class. If tests don't come easy to you, you will have to do your homework and study. Gives hand written homework (which is great) and gives extra credit on his tests. Overall an awesome teacher!
He is an amazing teacher. Really good at teaching and really cares about his job and his students.
Kurt is absolutely amazing! He gives you plenty of examples and information to help like more math sessions outside of class.
Kurt hands down is one of the best professors in the game. He makes math easy and enjoyable. Truly a great guy and an even better teacher. Rare to find people like Kurt as a teacher, so safe to say grab a course from him before he gets swooped up into his next step in life! Just seriously an amazing professor.
The rumors are true, he is the best!
Kurt Ehlers is simply an amazing professor. His lectures come across clear as day, and he's hilarious on top of that. His homework reinforces the learning, and he gives a practice exam to make sure he prepares you for the test every time. I'd also recommend coming to his Math League club on Thursdays. Just an all around cool guy.
Kurt is a great teacher and gives amazing lectures. If you have the chance to be in his class its worth it!
Kurt is one of the coolest guys that you will ever meet. He can get a little distracting during class, but he is able to bring it back to what we are learning.
Must take notes. One homework due per week. Engaging.
Kurt has been an amazing teacher. The homework is pretty easy as long as you show up to class and take notes. He can get off topic sometimes but always is able to relate it to what we are discussing in class that day.
I am not very good at math, however, for my degree I have to take a good amount of math and hard sciences. That being said, I was quite nervous having to take Pre-calc, but Kurt really really helped my confidence. AMAZING TEACHER!! Great person too, and makes lectures interactive and funny. Do your homework though, and go to class and you will pass
Can confidently say that Kurt is the best professor I've ever had. With the material being somewhat tough, he explains everything in a helpful way, and manages to be super energetic throughout the lecture. Definitely recommend!
I just took Kurt's calc 3 class through UNR. He is the definition of daddy. Awesome prof. Definitely not an easy class and you have to be willing to put time into it. Would 100% recommend! He also offers a ton of extra credit at the end of the class. This guy really cares!
Kurt is a very good professor who is pationate about what he teaches. He provides very good real world examples and keeps lectures interesting with his drawings and applications. 181 is a math class that is a bit more difficult and you do have to work for your grade.
Homework isnt bad and the web assign isnt required.
Easily one of the best professors on compass. Knows how to make a lecture fun for everybody, and will help you understand math.
Kurt is just an overall awesome professor who really cares about what he teaches. He has devoted his whole life to math, sciences, and everything in between.
Kurt is a great professor for anyone who is looking to take an advanced math course. He is available in his office, and is always in good spirits and exited to teach.
Kurt is a wonderful professor ever I had in my life. He gives a good amount of extra credit opportunities. He grades pretty fast. I love the way he teaches. office hours are best time for more help.
I had only two GOOD math professors so far. Kurt is one of them !
Kurt is an amazing and inspiring teacher. He over-prepares students for his tests, so you always feel confident in the material once you get to the exam. He's really funny and has interesting lectures. If you want to take math, whether you're a math major or not, Kurt is a good choice.
Kurt is amazing! When I was midway thru the semester, Life hit me really hard. Kurt Understood, what I was going thru. It was a hard decision, but I ended up auditing his class because of the crisis I went thru. I DEFINITELY would take his class again. Kurt is an amazing professor. He is very passionate when teaching Calculus. Would recommend him
He is a good teacher, but hes not as understanding. He really doesnt pay attention to if you are struggling or not. I really wish he would have helped me out.
Kurt is an amazing math wizard! He makes everything extremely easy to understand. I took him for several math courses. He has always been a great help if something is not clear, he's a fair grader and is patient with all of his students. He is by far one of the best and my favorite teacher at TMCC.
Kurt is a great teacher, but his teaching lacks opportunity. For many students, like myself, practice is necessary in order to learn. Unfortunately, Kurt takes over students practice. I felt like I didnt know what was happening or I couldnt solve problems on my own. This class was harder than it shouldve been.
Professor Ehlers is the most laid-back but super organized professor I've ever had! If you come to class and take some notes, you'll get great grades on the exams. He is super funny and makes learning calculus understandable and applicable.
Kurt is a sweet professor. While math is a hard subject for me, I felt like this professor helped with feedback and figure out other ways to learn a problem. He definitely wants you to succeed.
Lectures are my favorite part of the class. He is so punctual with grading and getting back to you, never fails to help out. Tries to get everyone involved. Makes his tests cover everything without getting insanely difficult - they are extremely fair tests. Have a late assignment? Very understanding - just submit what you have! We love you Kurt!
One of the best math teachers I've had. Kurt makes his classes worthwhile for all types of students, whether you are a math nerd or just need the credit. His tests are incredibly fair, but it's definitely useful to go to class (and his reviews before tests!). I've taken a few of his classes and would recommend others to do as well.
Fantastic professor who made this class an enjoyable subject to learn.
As a person who doesn't learn by doing, the class was difficult. The lectures were very long, and by the end, I was so burned out I could barely drive home. Plus, the homework took me HOURS at the tutoring center. Did I learn a lot? YES. But, do I wish I was given an opportunity to digest information inside of class instead of on my own time? Yes.
Kurt is single handedly one of the greatest professors there are, when you hear someone say "your choice of prof is important", Kurt shows you why this is true. He is a very understanding and great person. He will teach you in ways that apply fundamentally and why they are important.
Was a little grouchy at the beginning of semester but ended being a very fun and caring professor. Homework being on paper was a little tedious but convenient for when Canvas was down. Very passionate about his field and makes you care about the math and its real world applications. Will give you lecture notes if you can't make it to class.
Kurt delivers the greatest alley oop for understanding mathematical concepts. I would take as many classes possible under his guidance
Best professor I've ever had!! Super easy class and he loves math, so his class is never boring. He provides the textbook for free and will give you notes if you miss class. Responds to emails quick. Seriously amazing!
very good teacher and makes a effort to make his class as enjoyable as possible
Best math teacher at TMCC for any section. Great lectures, super accessible, loves his subject and does everything possible to impart his knowledge. Exams are straightforward and easy if you pay attention in lecture, do the homework and follow the study guide. Hear he's retiring soon so take him while you can!
Kurt Ehlers is the worst professor of my school career. clearly he knows the math but it would be great if he taught the subject at hand rather than topics that pertain to higher math. I am in pre calculus 2, not in calculus, not in trig, not in music class. And he refuses to deal with problem students who interrupt. very bad experience
Best teacher I've ever had. Difficulty of the class was very well balanced. It was challenging, but Ehlers was such a great teacher, that the challenge was fun and we learned a lot. He's amazing at explaining concepts, very enthusiastic, compassionate, and available to help. Thank you Kurt. The textbook he chose was really good too.
Professor Kurt is a gem - his teaching style clicks, and using tools like unstuck ai alongside the textbook really solidifies the concepts. Tough but rewarding class.
Kurt has been, by far, my favorite math professor I have ever taken. His study guides are near indentical to the actual exams, and he even offers ~4 points of extra credit per exam. He's a great professor and responds very quickly to emails. Couldn't reccomend enough!
Kurt is an amazing teacher his lectures are engaging and transfer great to your notes, Kurt also has a certain energy to him that is infectious and makes you happy to be in the class.
The absolute best professor I ever had, bar none. Radiates love of the curriculum and exudes energy to make you excited to learn.
Prof. Kurt was an excellent professor--he goes over many examples to ensure student understanding and answers questions eagerly. Although I found the course content rather challenging, he is highly supportive and will provide plenty of help as long as you put in the effort. Would highly recommend for any level of mathematics.
