EXCELLENT teacher. I honestly have never understood algebra until this year.
Love him!! never a dule moment and he takes up all the class teaching you how to do the damn thing!!!
Great Professor.
brief and so concise with teaching, lots of patience,
not my favorite teacher... if you are like me and hate homework, look for another teacher. he gives LOTS of homework. his tests are arent that hard, and he teaches pretty well with lots of patience, but its sooo boring its hard to stay awake. congrats klopstein, ive never fell asleep in class until i took yours.
He's a really good teacher. Teaches you everything step by step, grades fairly, and ALWAYS willing to help you where ever it is you need it!!
Excellent professor. He takes his time, and explains everything. I left his class with an easy A. He doesn't expect you to do all of the homework. His tests are fairly easy. Recommend trying the homework problems, to get a feel for the tests.
Professor Kurt Klopstein is one of the nicest techers at Bakersfield College. You can be dumb as a board, and he will still continue to help you. He is always available to help. I had him for MATH B50 and MATH BA and only once did i see him get mad at a student he is always very cheerful.
Very nice teacher, always willing to help the students. He gives his students the opportunities to pass his class by handing out extra credit(that will help understand material). But attendance is important, the class is not a walk in the park. Highly recommend this teacher.
Mr. K was an awesome professor. He's the most helpful teacher one could want with a subject like pre-calc. Lot's of patience. He will explain things different ways if you don't understand at first. Definitely cares about his students.
this professor has been my favorite so far. he is very helpful and he cares he will take the time to make sure you understand he wants all of his students to pass. he test are pretty easy if you have done the homework and the homework is collected on test days so if you dont mind a little homework he is a pretty cool teacher
Awesome professor. Sure, calculus 2 is a hard subject but Mr. Klopstein teaches it just right. Great professor.
Mr. Klopstein is amazing. He's an outstanding professor who really cares about his students. He explains the most complex things into the simplest things. His exams are tough; however, you will pass if you do the homework. Take him if you have a hard time in math.
You need the book.Tests are based on homework. Very helpful, his methodology is great. Difficulty is added gradually. Crossreferences other books. If you are a VISUAL lerner, he does a LOT on the board, COLOR CODED graphics and such. He is nerdy easy going. REVIEWS ALL that is going to be on tests>>>
very good prof for trig. but VERY hard prof for calculus. he LOVESS his calculus, therefore makes sure the students are working thier butts off. tests were outragous and did not reflect the homework or lectures. he has an ego at times. he is helpful only when you track him down in his office. friendly. loves his coffee. i would not reccomend him :(
Klopstein is awesome, forget the comment below, he knows his calculus and kicks down the knowledge. He will show you how to tame the mathematical beast.
He's very hard on the Calc III class, but it's warranted given the difficulty of the course. He spends a ton of time answering questions in class and is very generous with office hours. He focuses on WHY things work as described in the book, which aids understanding a ton. Take him if you can!
nice teacher,he took his time in explaining things. He was willing to help whenever you needed it.I disliked math before his class, now I don't mind it
Good humored! clarifies as nedeed, never takes roll. hw is not neccessary but very helpful, full credit even if partially completed. He gives partial credit on exams. overall an amazing math professor!
I was on the wait list for the class. He added the first two ppl on the list and screwd the rest of the ppl by asking them to leave the class and later he drops them completely off the list. Don't think that he'll fight for you in any situation! Just a note, that was the last class I needed to be done at BC!
He doesn't keep grades updated. The weighing of grades calculates up to 85% tests. You think you are getting an A and ask him about your grade constantly and he doesn't show you unti after the final what percentages in each catagory you had. You better be a good test taker to get an A in his class.
Fantastic instructor who genuinely cares about his students and wants them to succeed. Ask questions, he'll do everything he can to help you get it. He is easy to talk to and never makes anyone feel "less than" for not understanding it immediately. WORK HARD FROM DAY ONE and you'll do well & earn that A or B you know you can you're capable of.
His lectures are clear and understandable except when it comes to the exams they are hard. The easy questions and hard questions are scored equally - 10pts. but even the easy questions are sometimes hard. if you take this class, remember to use notations and be able o explain yourself. He bases your grade on exams and quizes &Partial cedit is given
Really nice guy, will help you if you ask for it. GO TO OFFICE HOURS. There isn't much time in class for questions, but he will help you all he can outside of class. T.A. was nonexistent. Do you homework, go to class; he takes roll.
Professor is EXCELLENT at explaining concepts in lectures and gives much advice regarding what to study for the tests. There is not much time in class to ask questions, but he is pretty happy to help at office hours. I don't think I would've been able to do as well during the summer with any other prof.
He's the best math professor ever!! Take him for as many of the calc courses as you can. There's nothing easy about calc but he made simple to understand.
Really enjoy this class
Helped pass the class. hes cool because if he messes up on something and marked you rite but marked something els rong hell give you the points for both good teacher! i wish he was teaching math bd soon
Awesome professor. He has a way of explaining things that makes them super easy to understand. I'm an English major and got through this class no problem thanks to him. Attend lecture, use office hours & do the homework and you'll be fine. The hw is way WAY harder than the tests, so if you can do the hw, you'll ace the tests. Does slur words a bit.
Best teacher I've had so far at BC! Curtious grader, helps you understnad, is very clear and nice. :)
So far favorite math teacher. Book is online homework online. Explains everything very well easy to understand examples. Normally will give you heads up on what will be on test. Just completing your homework is 60% of the class.
Really funny guy, great teacher. I wish I worked harder in his class
Sexiest teacher in CA
Very concise, yet laid back. His teaching style is very effective if you are willing to do your part. He created a note packet for this class, which required you to fill in as you went along, it seems a good balance of lecture/note taking. I haven't taken Algebra in over 18 years yet I was to do well in this intense 6 week summer course.
great teacher. Helpful with you if you ask questions.
he's great. i had absolutely no interest in taking a math course but he certainly made it enjoyable. first class in the morning, not bad at all ^-^
Good instructor, explains in good detail. Took over the summer and class is difficult since we moved at a fast pace. But he will work with you and give you extra time if you need help.
Great teacher
He s okay but, he loves to give a lot of homework. He is kind of hard because he knows his stuff. He expects you to know everything . If you are good at math take him if not them I am just warning you!! You don't have to buy the book but you do need the math passcode. He gives you a big packet of his notes he created .
if you know algebra 2 really good, take this class. expects you to know what to do without teaching it to you first. but, hes a really nice guy.
He's a pretty good teacher as he gives you a whole stack of personalized notes he made himself. The online hw is a hassle so I would advise you not to slack off and work on it everyday. His quizzes are easy but some of his test are tough. Be sure to study your notes, literally the whole test is there. If you ask for help he'll do the best he can.
Awesome teacher who is funny and knows his material well
This teacher is extremely confusing and not helpful. I took this coarse to go straight to stats. It's a new coarse that was offered and the students were not informed correctly. This class is super difficult. He doesn't help, he makes you feel bad for asking. He expects you to be at his level. Tests are hard and so are the labs and hw.
He's a little hokey, but overall fair and clear. He's very generous on grading tests, will take extra time to answer questions, and there's lots of homework to even out bad tests. Drops lowest test score if you score higher on the final than your class average. I missed class a whole week while sick and it was a task catching up.
Practice and familiarity of logs, trig. identities and other rules is key. He assigns HW from MyMathLab. It isn't too difficult, but while the help button does aid you in figuring out answers it can be a bit a crutch in that you might have trouble understanding why that approach was taken. Test and quizzes are similar to that of the notes.
Knows his stuff very well. Gives out a hmwk packet to fill in class as a study guide which is very helpful! Breaks math problems step-by-step.
Klopstein is amazing. He explains things very well and is hilarious. The homework isn't too much but its online. The best math professor I've ever had.
He is pretty mellow. Easy to understand.
Great teacher! knows what he is doing and very helpful. group work every other day which makes it fun instead of him teaching every day.
Professor Klopstein is by far one of the best math professors/teachers I've ever had! His lectures are always very informative. His tests are difficult enough to test you, and it's not impossible to excel if you put the effort into studying. He is always open to questions and has a lively personality, and the class has been an enjoyable one.
Kurt is a great guy/professor. Really Know what he's doing , try's to make the class fun and really cares if you understand the material. Although beware his test are a little difficult and you have to do the HW.
You must attend class regularly to do well. He's a great Professor and wants to see you do well. He often drops hints about what will be on the test during lecture. If you work hard an A is very possible!
Loved this guy! he's like a happy high surfer lol. He knows math very well , if you have problems just go to his office hours and ask for help. he explains amazingly. Never seen this guy without a smile on his face!
Smart prof. Clear lectures. Really helpful during office hours. Always smiling! Does hint as to what will be on the test. Dont miss class. Definitely will take him again!
He doesn't care if you show up and is apathetic towards his class. 75% of students require a tutor. He changes the dates of exams on a whim, cannot make them up later (your fault). Group work is Tues and Thurs where you will be hurried to copy group members work so you can leave early. Takes a week & a half to grade 10 question exams.
I've always been terrible at math but being in his class has made me feel like I'm a genius! His lectures are so simple and the labs are so easy that I never even had to look at the notes. Homework is optional (for practice!). He does take a while to grade exams, but he gives good feedback. Always has a smile on his face and loves to help students.
I earned a B thru my own effort/book-not from his lectures/Up until wk 3 of summer school,he told everyone"don't buy the book, you'll have access to it online/"Well,he didn't have the online hw set up until every1 fell WAY behind/Did he offer extra credit?No/Did he offer ex credit exam Qs?No/Did he leave the hw open till he graded it at the end?No/
Very hard teacher and I was unsure the entire semester if I would pass or not. This class was the epitome of me and I am not the worst at math. he makes something simple very complex.
He really cares and wants to see his students improve. I took an accelerated course so it was a bit difficult at times but he was always willing to help and answer questions. A little bit more homework than usual. However, he really did help me improve my skills and understanding. Awesome professor!
He is awesome strongly recommend if you do your homework
He's notes are easy, the hw is hard, the test is the hardest. you haven't seen some questions at all. most of the grades are from the test, some from take home quiz and a little bit from hw. I studied a lot and tried very hard & I was very close to an A but still got a B. He seems like he doesn't care about he's students.
One of the best math teachers I've ever had and definitely the best class I've taken at BC to date. Homework always over prepares you for exams. Lecture notes and quizzes will give you a great idea of what will be tested. Very accessible and helpful if you have homework questions after class or during office hours. Everyone should take this class!
He is a solid calculus professor.. he is available for office hours and is willing to work with you. His exams are fairly hard but definitely doable. Show up to class, do the homework, and study for the exams and you should be able to get a decent grade
I took him over the summer so it was accelerated and more challenging, he seemed a bit swamped with a lot of classes and grading. IM sure it's not like that in normal semesters, but he is great at explaining things in an understandable way (at least for me) and always welcomed people into his office or to talk before and after class. He's great!
Klopstein is a great professor. He's clear on what expected you, does online and offline homework. The offline homework isn't graded but looks so similar to the test you'd be crazy not to do it. Every time I put in the work on the offline homework-the tests were so easy. He gives good lectures and is always available for office hours.
Professor Klopstein is just there to do his job. He does not care about students nor will he have any empathy for students. He assigns huge workloads of homework that are only worth 5%. The tests are heavy they are like 80% of your grade so doing the homework for credit is useless. Be prepared to teach yourself the math because he won't.
I didnt like the way he so sarcastically gave me a zero on an exam when I was in the hospital because of covid. All he did was argue and try to get facts on if I was sick.
His style is polished and fast paced. I have learned almost the entire calculus series from him. Show up to class, take the notes, do the homework, study up, and pass your exams. After enduring physics B4A and B4B I've come to appreciate just how easy his expectations are to meet. Great teacher.
Klopstein is one of the best math teachers I've had. His printed note sheets make following along with the lectures extremely easy. Do the homework and you will do good on the exams. His exams are moderately difficult, but he makes no attempt to trick his students with never before seen questions. Exam questions are never harder than the homework.
Took his class for Fall 2021 and found him to be great. The way he grades tests are very flexible and he is very understanding. The only few problems are that it is hard to contact him via email and you don't really use the book in his class.
the best math professor at bc when it comes to knowing the material and teaching it, but he also grades very hard. losing points for notation can easily cost you a whole letter grade. I took him for precalc 2 - calc 2. He gives online homework and offline homework. the offline isn't graded but that one is more like what you will see on the exam
To start, you take 7 total exams, including the final exam. The exams are all material covered except they determine your entire grade. Only one extra credit assignment, quizzes are easy but they help your grade in little to no way. Graded exams have no explanations for what you did wrong. Grading system for this class is set for failure.
He doesn't lie about how much effort you must put into the class. The summer course was much more accelerated than a regular semester, but only listening to the lectures was not enough for me to pass. Was very patient when I caught COVID. Make sure u use the offline homework as a study guide, almost every question on the test is reworded from it.
He gives three sets of lectures such as class notes, online hw, and quizzes all with different methods on how to solve the same math problem which are very confusing on the exams. Also fail 4 out of 7 drop the class. Finally do not bother on doing the hw or quizzes because those scores will not help your grade at all!!! Youve been warned!!!
Attend lectures and watch the additional videos he posts on canvas to pass this class. You have to put in effort and having that math base from high school will also help in passing this class. Don't stress about the online hw, it doesn't affect your grade much. Use it as help to understand things more. Focus on offline hw. Tests are HUGE, pass em.
Klopstein knows what he's talking about, but his class is difficult and stressful to say the least. He is a very slow grader so don't expect to know your actual score in the class till the end. Homework is worth nothing and your entire grade is mostly based around your exams and final. I've had several panic attacks over this class, have fun.
Took him over the summer. He printed out note packets for us to follow along in class with. Made keeping up in the class 10x easier. There's both online and offline HW. The online part is easy points and the offline is what the tests will look like, so mostly focus on that. He really cares about helping his students succeed. He's really sweet too!
The textbooks is useless, only thing you need is web assign code for the homework, and the homework is practically useless towards your grade, it doesn't improve or lower the grade much at all. Exams are 50 percent of your grade, professor is honestly a bit lazy and doesn't want to help students. I think he's collecting paychecks until he retires.
Klopstein is pretty much the perfect math professor. He's a funny and a very effective teacher. His lectures are always entertaining, no matter the topic. I never dreaded going to his class. Grading scale was clear and fairly balanced in my opinion. No opportunities for extra credit, but I highly doubt you'll need it. Everyone in my class passed.
The professor gives you everything you need to pass the class. If you miss a day he has online lectures posted allowing you to keep up. Although he doesn't give a study guide the offline homework he assigns can serve as a perfect study guide helping you reinforce the skills you'll need for the exams.
You guys, he does a really good job of explaining linear algebra in ways that makes it digestible. He will introduce the formal part but will teach you the easier way to do things. Most of the lectures are just practice problems and it can get boring because all of linear algebra begins to feel the same after a while. Tests aren't bad just memorize
Klopstein is such a great professor and shows how much he cares. He is extremely calm and very lenient with assignments/quizzes/tests. He makes the subject so much easier to understand and goes out his way to provide everyone note packets for less writing. By far one of the best professors I've had thus far! Definitely would take his class again!
gets fustrated when you ask question. He assigned a lot of homework, but it didn't affect my grade. no notes on exams.
In all reality, hes a chill professor. DO THE OFFLINE HOMEWORK! Thats basically a very specific study guide, hes reused some stuff there and placed them onto the exam.
Took him for B6D and B6E. He's a funny and effective teacher who explains concepts clearly. Homework can be a bit much, but it helps and some questions show up on exams. He gives a checklist of what to study, so there are no surprises. Great experience wish him the best.
This teacher uses a packet for notes which I personally just hate. His lectures are boring and half the class was gone a couple weeks into the semester. His tests are essentially the only thing that matters. You get graded on the work harshly even more than the answer. He goes thru lectures impossibly fast.
Mr. Klopstein really wants the best for you. His lectures are boring and he uses packets for notes (you dont have to use them though) but he provides a lot of resources to help understand the material. overall a great guy just homework heavy
Good guy. You guys are in great hands.
