Professor Kwast is one of the best professors I've had at USC! He is very clear when explaining topics in lecture and always includes interesting, relevant stories that help students put the material into context so that they may better understand it. Prof Kwast is fantastic! Anatomy is time consuming no matter what, but he makes the material interesting and fun with his great sense of humor and friendliness. Even though he speaks quickly in lecture, he gives really clear study guides for all of the exams and the tests pull directly from them so you just have to be willing to put in the time.

This subject is content heavy. If you go to class, plan mainly going for exposure, possible questions or main topics he plans to cover on the test, and anecdotes that will help you remember the material. i was doing well until it came to exams. despite studying alone and with other students weeks before the final, the test was nowhere near what any of us were anticipating. it felt like he did not even prepare us for the exam. he puts a lot of content that we did not even learn. had i known how difficult he was I would not have taken this class.

Harder classes at USC. Even for a GE class the professor aimed his lectures towards helping out the Biological Sciences majors more than those taking the class for general education. There are sometime lecture activities. He doesn't fully explain concepts and expects you to know everything already. Also every test you have to use Lockdown browser.

The class is hard because the material is difficult and there is a lot to remember. His exams come straight from his lecture slides. If you pay attention to the little details on his slides or in his lectures, you will do fine in the class. His exams are detail heavy so you really need to study. Kwast wants his students to succeed.

Most unforgiving professor. Had been doing well and was graded poorly on a paper that I specifically told kwast I needed extra time for because of a family emergency. He still told me there were no exceptions and now I no longer have the gpa needed for my scholarship. I even reviewed the paper with him and he refused to change the grade. Thanks !

def regret taking this class and not dropping this class sooner the prof was chill but class is so brutal and he his tests are designed to fail you no extra credit & no way to bump up your grade except for his phony curve that he claims helps and doesn't drop before as soon as you can

Luckily I am a Bio Science major because Professor Kwast designed this class to be at a graduate level and for students within the Bio major. Mind you, this is a 200 level general education course, but Professor Kwast does not teach it that way. One of the most gruesome classes I've taken this semester. Even worse than the 400 level classes.

Professor Kwast is very respected by all students in the bio department, he relates to his students and efficiently teaches his lectures. If I could take the class over again I would go to more of his lectures, although attendance is not mandatory. He has 2 or 3 midterms for this course, all curved and all reasonable even if you are not in bio.

I gave this professor a try despite all of the negative reviews, but recently dropping the class after about a week. I am sure that this professor is cut out for amazing research however, he does not seem to be qualified as a professor. I definitely would not recommend taking this professor especially if you want to explore new fields of study.

This class was soooo easy (it was only for two credits) and our homework was occasional group projects we had a week to make. There were no tests and very few readings (just don't do them). The class is graded on participation, which was hard because Kwast is condescending and loves the sound of his own voice, but just take it pass no pass.

Dr. Kwast is an extremely generous professor. He's very knowledgeable and passionate about what he teaches, so his exams reflect this in terms of difficulty. He gives you several opportunities to make up for them through homework and even freebies, however. Go to his office hours and constantly review notes/slides to do well in his classes.

I've taken 2 courses with this professor (301 & 420) and got an A both times. Yes, there is a lot of content to review (usually 200+ slides to review for each exam), but if you take the time to review the exam outlines along with the lecture slides (DONT skim them, try to fully understand each *relevant* slide), you'll be fine. Substantial curve.

GO TO LECTURE. This class is really not that hard if you go to lecture and keep up. Anatomy is packed with content which can make studying super challenging and the tests can be hard but just be persistent. Kwast is smart, kind, and engaging— you can tell he truly does care about what he teaches. He's a nice funny and down to earth guy!

This is actually the worst professor I have ever taken. His lectures are extremely dense, fails to give thorough explanations, slides are unclear and overpacked. Study guides often ask questions not on slides or briefly mentioned concepts. Exams are also horrible but atleast he curves!!

As someone who finds it rly hard to focus in lecture, RECORD THEM. Before exams, I re-listened to them all with the study guide open on my laptop and made sure I could answer each question. SI is a godsend. Exams are hard but if you review the material multiple times you will be just fine. Curve is great (I got 85ish on most exams but got an A).

GOOAAAAAT. Easier than HBIO301, similar style (much easier lab). Study your butt off otherwise you won't do good. I used anki, it was great. Tests are extremely fair, but due to the large amount of content, averages are pretty low. Kwast is nice and he knows his science, lectures are fast paced. If you put in the work, you'll do fine. Take him!

Much easier than 301/420. Less interesting, less complex, no curve so you gotta study ab the same as the other classes. Anki worked for me. Dr. Kwast is less intense in this class bc he knows it's a lot of seniors, overall a cool dude. He knows his science. Lab is chill, lowkey fun. Don't expect to slack and do well though. Solid, applicable class!

He is an amazing professor and really cares about you learning the material. Anatomy is a hard class regardless, but Dr. Kwast made it interesting. He gives study guides for the exams, and a review/hints if you actually go to lecture. It's a heavy load, though very informational and applicable if you put in the time.

I'm a little shocked at the reviews about how difficult this professor is. He literally tells you the test material question by question in class before the next exam, which seems very, very straightforward to me. Awesome dude, engaging content, clearly cares for students. I'd buy this guy a beer!
