By far my favorite teacher. He is extremely helpful and caring about his work. You'll get the A if you just put out some effort and he'll help you out in any way he can. This guy was amazing!

he's the best teacher, he lets you rewrite your essays, and hes really extatic about everything. he even takes a week off of class to schedule one-on-one conferences for every single student to help them with their essays and any questions. he outlines everything and couldnt be clearer.

His class is not that easy, but this class is really fun. Also ways of his teaching is really interesting. If you want just A, maybe don't take this class, but if you want learn more than A, then take this class. He teachs stuff with life, not with lecture.

Reading material is great and his overrall attitude is exceptional. I definitely recommend him to all students who need writing classes.

hes extremely passionate about writing, he tends to be a semi-difficult grader regarding essays ane expects to see some if not a whole lot of passion in the topic your writing about. It isnt hard to get a B in the class, but if your a good writer an A should be fine. He allows you to revise essays that have a grade he knows you can do better on

Easy. 2-3 essays max, lots of little writing exercises, nice guy, often out of town or just cancels class so he can "meet" with you one on one instead of teach.

i took his honors class and didnt learn much. it was a really disorganized class. im sure he will improve though because he's very open minded and takes his students' suggestions seriously. kurt as a perso is very caring and passionate and is always there for students.

One of my fav professors on campus! I've never seen a professor that is really going out of his way to help his students... I like his "optional" class days where you can use to do some work or to get extra help. His selection of books is interesting too.. we read Fast Food Nation :) haha cool book

This class was amazing! Take him! Meyer is really passionate about literature and makes the class discussions very fun. Not hard, just do the reading/responses. There's a midterm and final and lots of writing assignments but it isn't really a lot to do. Enjoyed every second.

i took writing 1 and literature 1 with Prof. Meyer and his absolutely amazing. The class is a difficult in that you have to do the work and make an effort but he helps so much!!

He puts a lot of effort into making the class fun and interesting, but just be aware that this class is A LOT of work (11 papers, 2 midterms, and a final) and he has high expectations. If you struggle with writing, get help!

Highly recommend! Very helpful and kind professor - probably one of the better teachers I've had. Papers are not too hard. 2-4 pages each and you get to pick from a selection of interesting literature. He gives very good feedback and lots of opportunities for extra credit so you can get an A with some effort.

Mr.Meyer is a great teacher. He does assign a lot of reading, but in the papers he assigns he is looking for your opinion on the reading. He makes you think about important themes in literature and how that relates to you today. I love english, but he really inspired me to look further into literature to see what the author really means. TAKE HIM!

The class is hard however, great Professor. On your writing he really wants you to get to the point.

Really enjoyed this class, even as an English major he inspired my love of the written word. It was a lot of work, but he gives heaping loads of feedback and is very helpful if you have any issues. As long as you can read and write, TAKE HIM!!

This is truly an excellent class to fulfill the GE Humanities requirement. It's fun, but challenging and you'll read some really interesting, thought provoking stories and poems. Attend class, don't slack off, follow his directions, and pay attention to the discussion b/c you'll use that info on the exams. Put in the effort and an A is possible.

Can't say enough wonderful things about this teacher and his class. He is such a sweetheart and he is so so enthusiastic. I learned so much from him. I LOVE him! I have so much more confidence about my writing and about my ability to communicate my ideas effectively. Awesome experience! Take this class!

Meyer is so incredibly intelligent. He's inspiring and really gets into the heads of his students. Not only that, but he's fair with his assignments, and he keeps them interesting. He gives a lot of time to work in groups for peer evaluation to hopefully better your work. His assignments are always personalized so you can relate to them and write.

Great teacher! I never enjoyed writing untill I took this class. He makes writing seem important and it's easy to tell that he truly cares about his students. Overall easy class, just make sure you attend class and always have copies of your work! I definatley learned a lot in this class and highly recommend it.

I took this course as a high school student and enjoyed it more than I thought I would. He seems genuinely filled with passion and it motivates you to do better. He always has something to add instead of being the type of teacher who just lets you say what you want and carries on. Surprisingly this class also helped me be a better writer.

Just began Spring semester with Prof. Meyer. Right from the start I know it's gonna be a great class. Super helpful, energetic, and engaged with the students. 3 novels are required during the semester. One of them is Fast Food Nation!! Noticed there's a presentation later on in the semester. Not too excited about that :(

He really cares about your success and is willing to help you every step of the way. Really a great guy. Attendance is mandatory. Highly recommend Meyer to anyone taking WR 1 or EXP 389. Took his writing 301 class & came back to him for Writing 1.He made us do 4 papers and various homework assignments, which was extremely light work. Do not be surprised to do group projects or speaking. Work hard and go to all class days, he deducts if you do not attend (can drop 20% of your grade I think). Overall be focused and you will do good

Show up and get an A pretty much. There are some big papers that you will have to write, but as long as you do them you will get a good grade. He is very helpful with feedback and lets you stop by his office for questions anytime. Very helpful and I highly recommend him.

Great teacher, He is kind, genuine and very helpful. The only flaw he has is he is a little unorganized with the assighments due dates. He keeps pushing them back and eventually about 40% of the grading assighments were due at the end. I really recommend him though, just expect to be a little overwhlemed towards the end of the course

This class is super easy especially since Meyer is really winging it. He basically just talks and talks and participating is optional. Make sure you can write well enough to act like you know what's going on. Take it with a friend to make it fun. great for igetc credit. I am an older student, work full time plus and take night classes. This Professor was engaging and held my attention even after a long day at work. The homework and reading were consistent and you have to stay on top of the work. This class stretched my mind in how I look at literature.

He is the best writing teacher I have taken. Everything he says is clear but if he says something unclear he cares if you don't understand. Grades essays easy and supports you through the whole process. Would recommend to anyone

I took him for WR 399 and the assignments he assigned were inspirational yet, educational and informative. He is very helpful. He is dedicated to his students success. I honestly would recommend this class to anyone.

He's a really kind a caring teacher. Very helpful if you talk to him. the class was amazing and he had different interesting subjects to talk about. I got perfect grades in every essay and I'm an average B student in English. 6 essays total, a quiz for almost every essay, sometimes online sometime verbally and he takes you step by step every essay

Professor Meyer was one of my first professors at Irvine Valley College when I moved to California. This was his first time teaching Intro to Shakespeare and boy was it a wonderful experience. Professor Meyer was so attentive to listening and also had plenty of feedback and ideas for you to build off of. His passion and care was beyond infectious.

He comes to class prepared and ready to teach us... his classes are not boring and he cares about you ...I encourage anybody who didn't take him for an English course, to take him and you won't regret!!! Prof meyer is super duper friendly! He gives lots of homework in my opinion but how he checks them: he will give you full credit if you did it. the books he assign us to read can be found online. He gives really good feedback on essays. He is also very understanding. If youre absent just send him an email why. He replies to emails too.

We had 4 essays and a handful of different readings. As long as you show up for class, try your best on every assignment, and stick to his grading criteria, you'll pass!

Professor Kurt genuaily wants his students to succeed. He is an inspirational person. There was a couple books we had to read and write about. He takes the students outside one on one to discuess what we could improve with our papers we had to write. I found this very helpful because getting detailed feedback is what has made me a better writer.

Hes a really nice guy and very passionate about his job! His assignments were pretty clear on what he wanted. My only complaint is that it took him awhile to grade papers. He also didnt use the grade book on canvas so its a little annoying not knowing your grade. Other than that, hes an easy going professor and Id absolutely take him again!

HIS CLASSES ARE GREAT! I admire his dedication to the class and he honestly is super generous with the grades. For as long as you submit the essay (never plagiarize) and show that you are working (come to his office hours), you'll get 100% in his class. I loved the novels that he has for the class and I enjoyed the lectures! Take him if you can.

I love Meyer and his classes. He cares about his students and will work with you to make sure you're getting the grade you need, though he doesn't use the canvas grade book. His classes are mostly discussions/lectures, with a big final essay/project. He is always extremely clear about what will be on the test. Could not recommend him enough.

He's a great teacher honestly although when he made attendance optional no one came to class after like the first week. He is pretty straightforward with what he wants, and a very good grader and he is also very understanding. He does talk quite a bit, and he is animated, but those traits aren't a bad thing.
