attend class cause he gives class assignments. Not to bad of a teacher but I heard other teachers have easier tests

Prof. knows the material and if you come to class you will succeed. Tests are not as hard as people say, all MC. Labs can suck, only if your TA sucks.

I didnt think the class was exxtremly hard. Well, I went everyday so when I reviewed with the study guide I had all the answers to the questions for the exams. You have to do all the questions to the review because he asks aboutclose to all of them. Stay on top of the subject and its all about memorizing. Go to open tutor hours she was excellent.

Wilke is a great professor, this class was easy. Tests are multiple choice and he is very helpful. I got a 97 with ease, barely studied for tests, but that is only because I went to class. Very smart and helpful guy, he got me actually interested in rocks, now that is amazing!

Good class, just took it for GER requirements but really enjoyed it. Prof made it relavent to all of us and how we live. Recomend to all

This class was a good class. I learned A LOT from this class, and the teacher related everything to your life. I got an A in it so it is possible to do well. Go to all the review sessions before the test and you will do great!

Pretty easy class.

He rocks! So good about interactive notes, all slidese are online, has awesome exam reviews... He's a nice guy too and VERY accomodating for you if you go on vacation, etc. I liked him a lot & didn't mind going to class even though I was not interested in the subject. He does give in class assigments on days where hardly anyone shows up.

VERY knowledgable & experienced geologist, uses great visuals, provides clear notes, study guides & clear verbal instructions, follows syllabus, often asks if everyone in class (200+) understands concept.

One of the best science teachers that I've ever had. If you still find that you need help, just go into his office hours and he will literally spend hours with you making sure that you get the material. Very nice prof and easy to approach. He knows his stuff!!!!

Wilkie is the man. He makes geology interesting and keeps the class fairly easy. Most of the lab teachers are cool too.

Just reading the syllabus makes him sound like a hard--- but he is actually really nice and helpful, if you have a problem at all talk to him and you can work it out. The class is not hard by any means, the labs kind of suck but what can you do.

Very nice

Quizes are hard, tests are okay if you study a good amount. However, if you feel you are doing poorly just talk to him and he will help you out sooo much. The lab counts for a HUGE part of your grade, and it's very very easy. You have to come to class in order to get participation points. Wilkie is a good teacher that will help you out alot.

Good teacher, but make sure you get enough coffee before coming to class because it might be a tad dull. but once you get used to it. its not that bad, his tests are right from the online notes and he seems to have a passion for his work. good guy!!

Wilkie loves his job: talking about rocks. Go to class so you can get clicker points (10% of grade) and lab as it makes up 40% of your overall grade. There was a problem with some clicker points but that seems to be the proble with all classes that use em. So he just gave us the full 10%, which was nice.

Great teacher, he really loves what he does. He is willing to help anyone that is struggling. The material is really interesting. Just keep up on reading and the class is easy.

I can go either way on him. Overall decent teacher, although he expects WAY TOO MUCH from you. He doesn't realize that most people take this class because it's the easiest of the hard sciences with the lab. Lab TA's are cool and all don't like him. Lab helps you understand better You will have to study for tests. hard to get an A, B is still effort

Pretty good Teacher. If you go to class, take good notes, and get clicker questions the tests are pretty easy. He gives out a study guide for each test which is nice. Term Project is easy too if you start early on it!! Over all, decent class.

Great teacher! He really loves the subject and is really knowledgeable. Sometimes gets a little too caught up in the material. Attendance is necessary for a good grade (uses iClicker for points).

He goes over everything pretty thoroughly. He's always willing to answer questions, and attempts to get class participation. It is a lecture class, and he's pretty monotonous, so sometimes you want to sleep. But overall, he knows his stuff and is willing to help you out. Tests and quizes are pretty legit- they're fair.

Honestly, this could possibly be one of the dumbest 101 classes at WSU. It demands way to much effort for a 101 class. Besides being a boring subject, the lecture is so dull. Although the professor is knowledgeable, and seems nice enough he's BORING. Also the "quizzes" might as well be exams. Overall the Lab has saved my life in this class!

Just email him when you have any question. he will always answer. memorize everything as all 101 class do!. then you will get good grade!

Never read the book once, have an A. Tests are easy, quizes are hard. Wilkie is a good teacher and does a good job teaching. Can be boring sometimes (its geology after all). Take written notes in class, even if they are the same as those on the internet and you wont have to study like at all. Overall easy, come to class for iclicker participation

Wilkie is a good teacher. He walks around during class and keeps you into his lectures by showing interesting pictures and doing i clicker questions. He is a very normal guy and always willing to set up study sessions. The homework was always easy but the quizzes were kind of hard. Learned lots more than I expected.

Kurtis Wilkie has the voice of Obama and he made Geology a lot more interesting to me than i thought it would be.

If you go to his study sessions you should be ok for tests just pay attention in class and do the clicker questions and get them right but they are easy because the answers are right infront of you. Do good in lab cause it helps A LOT!!

Great prof. Very good at conveying information in an understandable manner. You get bonus points for answering iClicker questions. Quizzes and tests are a little difficult, but he holds review sessions. You need to attend this class to understand the material, but it's actually enjoyable.

Wilkie is a great speaker. He knows exactly what he's talking about and explains concepts in depth; if you need help, he's willing to explain concepts to help you succeed. Quizzes are mainly fill in blank and short answer. Study bits and pieces of the material everyday and you'll do fine. Interesting field trips for xtra credit too!

Wilkie is a good instructor in that he explains things clearly in lecture. He just requires his students to know and to do a ton! That makes this class difficult. Extra credit at the end of the class will definitely help anyone.

Professor Wilkie is great. He explains things really well and makes the class interesting. Show up everyday, do the study guides and extra credit and you will do really well. The best lab science to take. Try and get Vince Isakson as your lab TA. He is awesome as well!!!

Fairly good teacher, goes off on tangents occasionally. Test are easy, and easy to study for. Provides lecture notes with fill in blank. Taking notes is easy and non-stressful. Lab is harder. Would not recommend this class to anyone who doesn't need it. However, to those who do, take it cause it's pretty good.

He's a professor who is obviously passionate about his subject. Lecture notes are fill in the blank, he gives 3 quizzes that are free response and 4 exams all multiple choice. If you pay attention in class you'll get a good grade. The book is really only needed if you're confused on a topic in class.

He loves geology! He was very nice and gave a lot of extra credit. You have clicker points every day so that gives you a boost to your grade too. I really liked his teaching too.

He loves what he teaches and that becomes very apparent in everything he does. His lectures move fast but are very informative and relevant to what was on the exams. I-clicker questions are used for attendance, has TONS of extra credit opportunities and his study sessions I found extremely valuable.

Must go to class because of SEES's policy, enforced via the iClicker. Lectures are done by PowerPoint, but move just slow enough for you to get the information on paper. The two field trips were great fun and helped with the photo project. I definitely recommend Geology 101 with Wilkie for all WSU undergrads.

he understand that students are not all the same. if your willing to go and talk to him he is willing to work with you. He loves what he does and it shows in how he wants to make geology as painless as possible for students just taking it for a GER.

Great professor! He obviously loves teaching and is happy to help his students. It is beneficial to print out his notes from Angel prior to attending lecture. Go to class and study for exams and you will do well.

Wilkie is a great professor. Makes the class pretty interesting as well as easy. Gives you the opportunity to print out notes prior to lecture with fill in the blanks so its easier to get stuff down on paper. Exams, homework and labs were fairly easy. Hardest part were quizzes. Should attend class due to iClicker.

I had no interest in geology until I got into this class. Wilkie does a great job of making the lectures interesting and easy to follow. I highly recommend taking this class with him!

Such an awesome teacher. He is extremely knowledgeable about geology and makes the material easy to understand for people with no prior knowledge. Goes out of his way to come to the dorms (since it's a freshman focus class) to go over the study guide for exams. Take him!

I went into this class giving absolutely zero you-know-whats about geology, and I just love it now. Wilkie is a great professor. Most information you need for tests is on angel, but get the book. Quizzes and tests are tough if you don't study, but almost no homework. iClicker means you really should go to class. TONS of bonus opportunities!

This class is way too much busy work. The tests were easy but the quizes were hard. Wilkie was a good teacher but I found the subject very boring. I ended up with an A-. Don't take this class if you like to skip. If you have to choose between astronomy or geology for your physical science credit, choose geology. It's much easier.

Great professor. Very helpful in and outside of class. Lectures allowed me to not read the book by simply paying attention. The lab is as essential to the course as the lecture, use the iClicker for XC, get as many points in lab as possible, and do the online extra credit because it may push you just where you need to be like it did me.

Kurt is one of the BEST professors I have had at WSU. He is kind and respectful and very helpful. He knows his stuff and will take time to answer any questions. He is genuinely interested in his students' education and is excited about geology. One of the best teachers I have ever had, period! Excellent.

Not a easy class but if you put in the time and effort you can get a good grade. MUCH easier than bio101 in both lab and lecture if your trying to get your science lab credit done with. Very knowledgeable and can answer all your questions, he is very willing to work with you. You get clicker points for going to class. Small extra opportunities.

Wilkie has a passion for geology, it's obvious. The content is hard, but he tries his hardest to make it easy to understand. There are a lot of extra credit and he posts lecture notes and study guides online. He's also a jokester. Definitely a great teacher!

Kurt Wilkie, what can I say. He is one of the best professors on campus. He goes out of his way to make time for all of his students. If you ever need help with your lecture grade he will make sure you pass if you put in the effort. The most difficult part of this class is the labs because are taught by TA's instead of him.

I didn't think geology would be that exciting, but Kurt makes it amazing! I even took an Extra credit field trip for fun! He is clear about what to study for tests, and only gives out a handful of assignments. Besides your weekly quizzes online, the lab is the tough part! And your attendance is graded by iClicker points!

His lectures are really clear. Uses slides that make for good notes, but he goes into more detail, uses videos, and utilizes iClickers for in-class questions, which was really helpful for people like me who need more than just PowerPoints. The iClickers are used for attendance. Offers a lot of extra credit opportunities too!

Gives out a lot of extra credit opportunities, uses iclickers for attendance so bring it and use it! He is so passionate about Geology so if you just follow along and give it some kind of effort (& do the study guides) you will do fine. The lab isn't hard, just a lot of writing. Wilkie makes a lot of time for students so take advantage! He's cool.

Go on the extra credit field trips! They are so fun even if you don't find geology interesting! Lots of opportunity's for extra credit. Quizzes were the hardest. Smart work began to get annoying after a while. Labs really help you learn the material in a way that sticks! Friendly guy who loves geology.

One of the best professors I've taken. He is really passionate about the material and really wants everyone to understand it. There were 2 or 3 iclicker questions a day but as long as you pay attention they're easy. Exams questions are really similar to iclicker questions. Theres also lots of opportunities for extra credit throughout the course.
