This teacher is really fascinating and has a teaching style that makes the learning easy. He is willing to answer any questions and is very helpful. His accent is kinda' hard to get past at first, but once you get passed it, it's no sweat. He's awesome

Sociology bores me to tears,but he tells fascinating stories that really illustrate his lectures well.Having a professor with so much diverse cultural experience is vital for this college.He clearly enjoys playing the devils advocate to provoke sometimes discussion, but remains always in control.

A lecture-based instructor with wonderful experiences to tell his students. I never had any trouble understanding his accent though it is thick. A little too much focus on statistical information on exams- but hey that's his choice! I highly reccommend him.

he is SOO nice!!! i think he is a great teacher.... it was a little hard ot understand his accent at first but now i totally get what he is saying. He is so interesting to listen to because he has did so much in his life and i highly recommend him:)

His internet class was great, and he always answered your questions, though he sometimes was slow to post things, and only gives you a few study guides.

He's a very nice teacher, very helpful and understanding. His tests are pretty straight forward, mostly off of the notes that he gives you. The INTL class was pretty easy as long as you read the notes. He is somewhat hard to understand so sit up front. Overall, he's a good teacher.

The class was not exactly what i was expecting, but it is your basic intro class, Part two shall be more interesting. There are 4 papers and 4 exams. At first he is a little hard to understand, but you get used to it fast. Tests are multiple choice with some essays, but he does not tell you the essays ahead of time, which make it hard.

I have had him forseveral differnt classes. He is a very nice man. His expereinces that he encountered in life makes him and a better teacher. And if someone does not do well in his class it their own fault. He just is no going to hand people the answers to everything. Put a lttle time by reading and studying class notes.

Very good professor! Knows his stuff from all of his experience. Always can find something interesting for examples. He reuires you to read the book from tests, but majority of test is over notes. If you need to save money, it's not a big deal to not by the book. Just use the one in the library.

Mr. Kwaku is a very interesting teacher. It is evident in his teaching that he has a personal interest in the subject, which helps the students take interest too.

Took him online for a few classes, very easy. Test questions are basically taken right out of the book, so as long as you read you're fine. Only negative is that some questions ask for actual statistics, so be warned there.

very nice professor but was a somewhat hard to understand at first because he has a thick accent. he is very passionate about his area of study and his tests were pretty easy - a majority of the material was taken from the notes but some of the material is also taken from the book so you need to read for the class.

I took this class online, and it wasn't too horrible. I wish the time limit was longer though when taking tests, but then again, everything is open book so I understand. A few online discussions are required, as long as a few tests. That's your whole grade. If you read the chapters and know what is going on, you should be okay.

I have had this wonderful professor for 3 different classes and have recommended him to at least 12 different students. I passed every class with an A. Very easy instructor, never used book in lecture classes, did use book in online. A wonderful teacher, with great experiences. HIGHLY recommended.

He was an excellent teacher. All of his powerpoint presentations are posted on Angel, and are the entire test. you don't need the book. He does have an accent, but is ok with asking for clarification. Good discussion and overall i'd HIGHLY recommend him. It was fun taking his class.

This guy is pretty cool. He encourages classroom participation and enjoys answering questions from his students. He does not use the textbook, but has an indepth outline for the chapters discussed. Warning: do not interrupt his class by talking to students around you. He understandably frowns upon that. I highly recommend him.

Took him last summer! HE IS THE MAN! Loved his class. Easy A. He loves questions so participate. If you have to take Sociology, take him! I got a 96% in the class, no problem. Class is interesting and alot of fun! Very wise man who has seen alot in life and is comical! He really cares about his students and has been an inspiration to me!

Took as an online class. Was disappointed that people who wrote 3 or 4 sentences for their discussion answers got as much credit as those of us who actually put time in to write an intellectual response. Material was interesting.

Had for social problems(online)& prev for the family(in person). Both extremely interesting classes, but he can be hard to understand since he's from Ghana,Africa. Info for test is present in notes. Didn't need to study much, basically common sense esp. in family class. Fun & interesting discussions in family class, I would recommend him to anyone!

Didn't even have to attend class because all he did was read straight off the notes.. Boring class, have to fight off falling asleep. If you actually like the subject of Sociology I wouldn't recommend taking him because I didn't learn a thing. However, if you want an easy A with not ever having to attend the class, go for it.

If you are looking for teachers that dont use the book, he doesnt at all! If you buy it you wasted your money. The class was easy, all you have to do is study the notes. His lectures were sortof boring, but he can be really funny at times. Nice professor. Definitly take him.

He's from Africa so he does have an accent which sometimes makes him hard to understand but he puts up notes on ANGEL for you to follow along. He's extremely nice&helpful. I've taken 2 in-classes w/him & 1 online. Just study the notes and you'll get an A. He's a great teacher & has a lot of life experience that relates to class. :)

I took his The Family class at the college and this class was very simple! I barley attended class because he reads straight from the notes which is SO boring! As long as you read all the notes you will be fine! You do not have to buy the book, i never even opened it! He does play favorites though, he only likes the students that attend class.

I took his family class online and he was very uninvloved, he would have us read 4 chapters and test us and not tell us what was on the test. He never gave notes or emailed or let us know when something was going on. However I took his sociology class in class not online and he was a very good teacher then. Not reccommended online.

Average professor. Kind of hard to understand. You have to read the book to get a good grade on the tests. Tells you exactly what is going to be on the tests. You can skip classes and still know what's going on in the class. Puts all of his notes on ANGEL.

He did nothing with the class what so ever, very hard online course. We would have 5 chapters at a time with no notes or anything, than an exam. If you remember every fact and percentage in the book you will be fine. Tests are timed, and there is definitely not enough time to take them. Do not take this course online at all.

This professor was very uninvolved. We would have to read 5 chapters than be tested over it. He never gave notes, or study guides. This class is very self taught. If you can remember every percentage and fact from the book your fine if not you will not do well. Tests were timed, and not enough time was given. Do not take this class online !

Definitely my favorite professor! He is so funny and makes the class interesting because he has awesome stories for each example you are learning. If you complete and memorize the study guide before each exam you are guaranteed an A. You also do not need the book, just study his notes. Overall my favorite class this semester!

This man is truly one of the best teacher's I have ever had! If you are willing to show up and do the work, he is very willing to ensure you pass his class. Very interesting topic's and the material is in all of his study guides. There is really no need to purchase the book for this class. Overall: take his class, you will not regret it.

Online full term Social Problems- no homework, 2 discussions that are easy, one quiz, every two weeks a test on 2 chapters that's mult choice and some short answer. Not difficult if you're quick at finding answers- about 2 minutes per question I believe

I would suggest not taking this class on line. Read two chapters and then test. Sounds easy but the tests cover all percentages and years writen in the book. There is no interaction from the professor, unless initiated by the student. No notes, no outlines nothing.

I'm not going to lie, this was the easiest class I've had in college. I didn't buy the book, went to class everyday and studied the notes he provides. The material from the book on the test is mostly common sense, and my lowest score on a test was a 96%, if you do bad in this class you shouldn't be in college.

DO NOT TAKE WITH THIS PROFESSOR! Took this class on-line and he is an awful professor. He never responds to your emails, all of his online quizzes are one attempt only, and all the questions are over exact dates or there may be 2 or 3 correct answers but if you don't pick the one he is looking for then your going to get it wrong. HORRIBLE!

Cool guy. a little boring sometimes. Accent is a little strong. But! before every test he tells you exactly what will be on it. If you didn't show up for class, and just printed out the reviews before tests, you would do fine, except for a couple things here and there that he writes on the board. don't buy textbook, all notes are on angel.

Do not take this online! There are only 3 tests, 2 quizzes, 1 final, 2 discussions, and 1 paper. The class is only 100 pts and tests are weighted heavy. Paper is only 10 pts. There are test questions that are not in the book or common knowledge. I read before tests, referenced the book during my tests and still got a low grade.

He's a great professor, I don't have any problems with him. As long as you don't do anything to get on his bad side ( the only way to do that is not turn in your work on time) then you shouldn't have a problem with him.

Dr. Mensah is absolutely amazing! My sociology class loves to get into debates/arguments, which he encourages and leads into thoughtful discussions. I have learned so much, without dreaded lectures and boring assignments. He does move a little fast through the material, but he makes it interesting and memorable.

Dr. Kwaku Obosu-Mensah was an amazing professor. He gives you all of the notes for the class before classes start and his lectures are usually straight from his power points. He always tells you what will be on the tests, and warns you to highlight or star important notes. He sends out study guides for all of his tests which help a lot.

He always knew how to make the material interesting. There were 5 Exams, including the final, all weighted differently. If you wrote down/studied what he wrote on the board they were easy. There was one paper, with very clear criteria. There was an online assignment that required the book, but I didn't buy it, so he gave me an alternate paper.

he is extremely boring with a soft voice, he doesn't allow any talking out of turn or whispering in his class. he also has a strong foreign accent. get ready to NOT learn anything in class.. pretty much reading and teaching yourself at home... cus his slide shows have nothing to do with the tests. which doesn't make any sense lol good luck!

Took this class online in 5 weeks. Syllabus was clear and assignments were given at beginning of class so you knew what to expect. Read 3 chapters a week and a multiple choice quiz weekly. 2 discussion posts and 1 short paper. Final exam was multiple choice over last 4 chapters. Easy online course with great instructor. Learned alot

He is very knowledgeable and knows the material very well, but presents it in an EXTREMELY boring way. He reads off power points, which are all posted on Canvas, so attendance is nearly pointless. Nothing against him as a person, but the class bored me. Tests arent too hard, and the paper you write isnt either.

He is average. You take notes every day except for the test days. Literally, you take notes every day of the semester except those 5 test days. Has a strong accent, so beware of that. If you study and pay attention it is an easy A. Notes are online too.

Hes not a bad professor, hes just doesnt give good feedback. If he does it isnt in depth. Its basically just discussions, and tests with like one research project. Class is easy if you read.

I barely put any effort in and got an A. Theres like 5 tests, 2 discussions, and one short paper. For some reason nothing was ever graded out of many points, 18 at most?? It was strange but I am not complaining. I got an assignment like every 3 weeks, did it, and that was that. Little feedback but Im not mad ab it bc it was so painfully easy

The textbook is not great - little substance & not not well composed. The instruction is lacking & the provided PPT presentations are an inadequate substitute for lecture. I'm not pleased with an easy class just because it's easy. If it were fulfilling that would be fine, but ultimately it was just a waste of time & money. Just checking a box.

He's a great professor and goes in depth on topics discussed. There's only a couple of assignments so if you mess up on a test it affects your grade a lot but if you study you'll be fine and there's one paper that's easy. There is an online textbook but I didn't use it once. Overall I loved the class and the professor was one of my favorites.

As long as you attend most classes, you will do just fine. This is a not a difficult subject and I actually learned quite a lot. The Professor is interesting, good sense of humor, likes his students to participate & ask questions/make comments, tells fun anecdotes. His accent is a little heavy but he is easygoing and self aware about it.

I enjoyed taking Kwaku Obosu-Mensah's class this semester! He taught a lot of things that I didn't know before, as well as expanded on some things that I knew but didn't know a lot about. His lectures were fun to listen to, and he brought his experiences and the real world into it, which was very helpful. I enjoyed the class this semester!

He is such a kind person and it really shows in his class. He was always willing to let students talk and he enjoys engaging in conversations with them. He is one of the smartest people that I have ever met, but he is also extremely humble and willing to help.
