He's very willing to answer questions and go over material again because he wants you to learn it! Really enjoyed his humor:)
I thought he was a horrible teacher...can't understand a word he says because of his thick accent...DON'T TAKE A CLASS WITH HIM! BIG MISTAKE!!!
He's really smart and knows his stuff...just doesn't know how to explain it on a level that students who are new to economics can understand. He is always willing to help though, which is a good thing. But his "help" doesn't really help. So, don't take his class. "Pee-chur" = "Pizza". nice guy
Difficult to understand (dayder=data), but decent at explaining concepts.
Hard to understand. We made a cheat sheet of things he said and the translation of what it meant. But he's not from the U.S. so its understandable that he has an accent. However, he was very smart and knew what he was talking about. If you pay attention and read the book, you'll get a good grade.
He is horrible, you can hardly understand him most of the time and he will give you a problem to work & than not help you when you have questions about it when he hasn't covered how to even do the problem yet. He also finds it entertaing to tell you you are taking a timed test & its a paractice test
Horrible.. Makes you feel stupid if you don't understand a concept!
He does not understand english. I would never take a class from this professor again.
Does not answer your questions directly. Likes short answer tests, with cumulative short answer final. Can't understand him very well. He makes the easiest concepts difficult.
He is very tough to understand. He is not that helpul but his class is not that hard. You have to go to class and pay attention. Overall i give it a 3.
I didn't think he was hard to understand at all. You just have to actually pay attention and listen. I definately liked and respected this teacher.
The man doesnt speak english. He understands it, but he doesnt ****ing speak it. As the class gets harder, the explanations do not get any easier. He constantly piles up more stuff without making sure the students got it. It is possible to get a high B if you a.Get the material easily b.avoid sleep
I think Mr. Park's biggest problem is he is overqualified for this course. He assumes we are at his (extremely high) level of expertise and background. We are not fellow owners of a P.h.D in Econ. If you ask for help he is indirect and you leave wondering the same things. Don't take him if you can
He WANTS to be helpful, but his "help" is definately NOT helpful. To sum him up in one word, "NO"...unless u can understand that "pee-chur" is actually "pizza".
You need to go to class and pay attention, outside work is nessasry but Park will help you out f you need it. He is a very smart man with a lot of info to share.
Doesn't speak very good english
No Comments
He is horrible at trying to speak English. If you dont understand something you are stupid. He needs to realize that students do not know as much as he does. He needs to become a better teacher and learn to explain things better and more clearly.
Not very good at english. He tries to help, but he just doesn't answer questions very well.
Kwang Woo Park basically sucks ass at teaching. I don't understand why a University in the United States of America would allow a person who can't speak english to teach a class that students constantly have troubles with. Data= Dater.. Formula= Formuler.. Good luck if you take this guy. Oh yah study the exact opposite of what he tells you to.
Park is an awful professor-it is like he wants students to fail. He teaches at a way higher level than the students can understand and then calls them a "dumb guy" for not understanding.
He was kinda weird and tough to understand for the first half of the semister...but now...i understand more, and find that he is very nice and funny...he would try different way to help us understand the material...even he always say "simple" ... i like him !
He is a little challenging in the beginning but once you get used to him you will realize he is very smart, he just teaches a lil different. Apply yourself and learn just 4 different problems for each test over 2 chaps and you got an "A" ... pretty ez if you think about it. 85=A
He was hard to understand at first. After you got used to him it was fine. He seems very excited about economics. I though he was a great teacher. He was actually funny too. It might be a harder class but if you have any motivation you'll do fine.
By far the worst professor i have ever had. Just read the majority of the other comments to know more. He cant speak english for more than a few words in a row and sucks at answering questions. If you want to know who the worst professor at MSU is, you now know.
Dr. Park is an excellent teacher. As long as you are willing to take the time to study, you should have no problem getting an A much less passing. A lot of people complained about him, but they must just be pretty lazy.
Watch out peeps! This is da wrong cat...... He is hardcore. He likes blondes......lol
Overall good, Excellent teaching!
It is a bit challenging at the beginning but he makes it very easy to get the big picture. Good teacher. Very helpful. Just be in the class and solve all the practice questions and you can go.
Professor Park is a good mentor. I really got a lot of help. Very nice persion.
This guy is a real piece of work. Tests are difficult. I would STRONGLY suggest taking a different prof. Dont bother with this guy. I wish I knew this before i wasted my time in his class.
Stay away from this prof. Test are so many and hard. Problem comes sometimes out of book. He gives test prob. he never thought. Very tough teacher.
Dr.Park is awesome! He has good knowledge of material, clarity and good teaching methods. He is very friendly.
Dr. Park is a great professor. He may not be the clearest all the time, but he's always willing to meet with students and help. I recommend very highly!
Not a fan of this guy. The tests are totally different than what he teaches in class. When he handed back tests where the highest score was a D, he told our class that we were stupid. If you can, take a different professor. Oh and by the way, "mass" is math, and "dater" is data.
Park is a good teacher, he knows his material very well. The Test are pretty easy and worded good. He is sometimes hard to understand because he doesn't always speak clearly or correctly. He does get fustrated when the students don't get it. But overall Go to class every day and do your assignments and you will get at least a B! easily!!!
Everything in the test was from the lecture. I dind't have to read the contents of the textbook. Great teaching and highly recommend.
Mr Park is awsome! he was hilarious in this class. Really dont worry about studyin the homework before tests...be sure to go over the problems you do in class really well because he puts identical ones on the test
His tests are rediculously stupid. Everything he taught in class, I understood perfectly, and then received 15/30's on nearly every test. He gets confused as all hell when you ask a question because he doesnt understand english. try not to giggle when he says square root
omg easiest HARDEST class ive ever taken in my life.. he is mega funny and makes sure everyone gets something before he moves on! i RECOMMEND HIM! woo hoo
Worst teacher i have ever had!!! He is no help and does not explain anything in class. No one is the class knows what is going on and he refuses to help and tells you to just work together!!
Excellent teaching with clear explanation. Easy to get an A as long as you follow the instruction and attend well.
The best instructor for the course. Clear examples and good mentor. Highly recomend. A+++++++++++++
He is really strict about attendance. He actually takes attendance at the begining of class unless there is a test or quiz or something else he can use to measure attendance. He said that if you miss more than four classes he will fail you regardless of your performance in class. He also spends a lot of time yelling at the class for not studying
I needed to comment again to fit it all in. His math is often wrong, and that is no good in a math oriented class. Whether on the board, in the answer key for practice problems and even his answer key for the test. I have lost hours of time going over my homework to figure out what I did wrong and it was just a math error on his part.
A tough class for someone who isn't very good at math/statistics. He helped me out with my grade at the end of the semester by adding 1 point for participation to boost me up to a C. Thank you again, Park! You can learn with him though, just study a bit.
Go to class and do practice problems and you'll get a B. He gives lots of extra credit.
He is pretty strict with attendance but if you attend your grade will be much higher than if you don't. Being in class definitely helps! Class consists of tests and a few pop quizzes so you need to make sure that you know the material throughout hte entire semester which sucks, but helps in the end. Overall I enjoyed having him as a prof.
he was extremely hard to comprehend. he was pretty funny though, but i still failed out of the class because i didnt understand anything
GREAT TEACHER. FIRST CLASS IN COLLEGE I FELT I HAVE EVER CAME OUT KNOWING ANYTHING. IF YOU GO TO CLASS, YOU WILL LEARN AND ALSO GET ATTENDANCE POINTS WHICH HELP AT THE END OF THE SEMESTER. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
The Best. Strongly recommend AAA+++. Just stick to his instruction.
Stick out the class and at about half way through the semester half the class will have dropped and he makes things a lot easier and gives bonus points. He is pretty good at explaining things and helping students. His tests require studying but it's nothing too hard. He tends to say "and den" a lot and its kind of funny. Highly recommend this cours
Econometrics was insanely hard, but Parks weighted the final project high enough so that I went from a solid C to an A. He's got a clear voice and he explains concepts very well. He's eager to help students outside of class, and is very approachable.
First test is hard. But after people start dropping the class the tests get easier. Just make sure you study everything he lectures about because he basically puts everything on the tests. End of the year project sucks, he started it over thanksgiving break so it gave us about 3 days to do a big project. If you take notes and study you can get a B
It was a really accelerated and vigorous paced course. For the most part the test material were unpredictable especially the first one. Text book was useless. Prof was a decent teacher but for the most part you are on your own.
Unbelievably hard class... it seem like he wants students to fail... one time i went to his office to get help with the "term paper" he really did not want to help, he ended up making me and my group leave... avoid taking him!
It is a tough subject, but he doesn't do a very good job of breaking it down so students can understand.
Expects you to have read the first couple chapters on first day of class. Goes off power points. Hard to understand at times. Take chowdhury instead.
Don't take him
Terrible teacher, tells the class they are going to fail, avoid this teacher at ALL costs
First off if you do take him, im sorry. its going to be horrible. you will need this to know what hes talking about. scurred= square root. standar adder= standard error. probality= probability. there are more that you will learn. He doesnt give you study guides for the test, or any sort of worksheets at all. makes the class ten times harder
HE IS MEAN! HE DOESN'T CARE ABOUT THE STUDENTS! PLEASE AVOID HIM FOR ALL YOU CAN! YOU ARE GOING TO FAIL IF YOU TAKE HIM LIKE SERIOUSLY!
He is the worst teacher of the world...Believe me don't even think of taking his class.
This guy needs to learn how to teach. 78% of the class FAILED his first test. That doesnt even include the D's and C's. He failed to recognize it was a problem of his, yet proceeded to complain at the class that we need to study more...uuhhhh ok Mr. Park...
This was the first class I learned something real valuable. I liked his teaching methods and grading system. The grading was really fair. He made the difficult topics real simple and easy. My first and second exams were not very good but eventually I passed the class with B in the final. He was one of the best instructors I've ever met in MSU.
Great amount of knowledge, good examples. I likes that he broke things down so simple. Simply TAKE it!
worst teacher i have ever had avoid him at all costs!
To be honest with you, this is one of best classes I have ever taken. If you do not DD, you will be so disappointed with your grade. Just do it and follow his instructions, you will get out of this class with great satisfaction.
I came into this class fearing the worst, but was thankfully wrong with my assumptions. Dr. Park is a very fair teacher. Attendance isn't mandatory, but he regularly gave extra credit for those who did show up, and had many other opportunities through out the semester for extra credit. Just show up, follow along, and study a bit for tests.
One of the best I've ever had.
A very very smart man but considering he told us the first day that his class had a 39% pass rate, I have no clue why everybody thinks he is such a great teacher. His test are HARD! They are ALL cumulative. After the first two tests, half the class dropped it, and I should have done the same. Now my GPA is bad because it is a 4 credit class.
This is a great class. The professor makes sure that everyone understands the material. It's a hard class, but if you show up and do the in-class assignments, it's not hard to get an A/B in the class. Be prepared to take notes to help with the tests.
The BEST I've ever taken. WOW!
Awesome guy. Really willing to help, and wants you to know the material. A little hard to understand at first because of the accent, but attend every class and you should do fine.
Park isnt the best teacher I have had. However, he does know the material and you will learn a lot in his class. I would try to get a different teacher, but its def. not the end of the world if you end up taking it from him
a little bit of an accent, but class is difficult and he isn't the best at explaining the problems.
One of the worst instructors I've ever had. He treats the class as if they're more on his level than 200 level people that need this class for their major. He consistently says "It's so simple" when no one really gets the answer he just gave and then he just moves on to something else.
He is a very smart guy - you can tell. but he's not good at explaining things. It might be just me but many times I felt that he asks some stuff that he didn't cover in class. exams were hard.. I would try to avoid him..
It is in your best interest to avoid Mr Park at all costs! He is obviously very knowledgeable in Statistics but this is a glaring example of a professor with a Doctorates degree which should not be allowed near lower level students. On the first day of class he somewhat proudly states how low of a pass rating he has, believe it, I didn't.
He is a very difficult teacher. Study and work on practice problems from the beginning. If you don't practice the problems at least 3 hours a week you won't do well. Once you realize the time you have to put in, it actually isn't that bad. Don't miss a class because he has suprise quizzes. There are about 7. His extra credit really helps though!
Do whatever you can not to have this professor he is very hard to understand. He doesnt give you study guides for the test, or any sort of worksheets at all. makes the class ten times harder. To sum up this professor he doesn't care about the students.
Not lying this guy is hard. He has four test and one final all are accumulative. For most test there isn't a study guide and he doesn't hint much on what will be on the test. Attendance is a must because he will put what he talks about on test and to understand the material better. Only up side is that is grading method. 65% and up is pass. ACCENT.
This teacher is extremely hard to understand. Not only is there a language barrier but the class curriculum is weighted heavily on tests. Most students in my class were more confused after the class lectures due to the barrier. *I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS CLASS ((WITH THIS TEACHER)) TO ANYONE LOOKING FOR AN A*.
He is the worst professor ever. Because of him I lost the desire to study economics. He also helps people from his country and let them seat together to support each other.AVOID him if you can!
Worst professor I've ever had. Barely answers emails and when he does he is short and not helpful at all. Doesn't give any assignments which makes the class much harder. No study guides. Expects you to learn only from his bad and unclear lectures. Avoid this professor at all costs. Terrible experience.
Couldn't understand him, he expected you to know everything off his lectures. Have the stuff that was on his tests I couldn't even find in the book. Basically re-read every chapter before every exam, yes that means re-read 10 chapters...
The biggest upset was how he would lecture for an hour about new material then throw a graded quiz at us worth 10pts. usually. Very strong accent, and I mean strong. Doesn't go into depth with anything, likes to get over as much material as possible without ensuring the class grasped the material. Save yourself a headache and find another professor
Hard to understand and doesn't really take the time to make sure you understand what is going on. Likes to think his class is really easy when in reality its way to complicated for a ECON 201 class. Try to avoid!
Horrible teacher. He is extremely smart but lacks the ability to actually teach you what he knows. Very hard to understand and will make you feel stupid after asking a question. Take another professor, he is one of the worst I've ever had.
the worst professor I've ever had, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HIM!
Tests are IMPOSSIBLE! if he does give you a study guide none of what is on the study guide is actually on the test! Made lectures boring because all he does is talk and talk. Forget about taking notes because he flips through the notes so fast you can't write a single word down. Doesn't answer students questions just acts like we are all stupid
Very changeling but, learned a lot of information on macroeconomics. Overall this class was the most beneficial class I have taken, even though my grade was not the best
He has a thick accent and gets corrected by his students a lot. The test are very tough and the class gets really hard right after the first exam, would not recommend him. I heard the other macro teacher was waaaaaay better. No need to take notes because he flies through the powerpoints then throws a pop quiz at you.
Lecture time was not used efficiently, to much sharing of expectations, not enough enthusiasm. Does not assign appropriate course work, or any at all. Uses power point, but needs to use it actively.
Very knowledgeable guy about economics he just doesn't know how to teach it. He gives a lot of pop quizzes making it essential that you have to go to class. He doesn't really seem to care if the students are learning anything. If you ask a question he will make you feel stupid for asking. I wouldn't recommend having him as a professor.
Lectures are boring and long, He says the word "Righhhhhttt" a million times per lecture. Tests keep getting harder and harder, definitely going to be a challenge taking this class it won't be an easy A or even an easy B. *Take at your own risk*
Mr. Park is very knowledgeable and knows how to handle the class. Plenty of extra credit opportunities. Cumulative exams and pop quizzes. Focus on his lecture and review questions before the exam. Good luck!
Very hard to understand and keep up and no study guides, 90% of class is tests and he isn't clear on what's on the tests and what's not
If you go to class and read the book--VERY EASY A. He curves the grades at the end by 2 letter grades. I had an A before the curve so ended up with an A+. He gives pop quizzes, so you should go to class. Take advantage of his office hours because he will go over the exam with you. No homework and easy E.C. assignments each week.
Dr. Park can come off as a strict professor who expects a lot in AT FIRST. But if you come to class and pay attention he will recognize this. Doing that combined with making regular visits to his office when you need help will ensure that you pass the class. He makes every effort to help you when you ask for it. Doesn't get the credit he deserves.
Very tough. He gives a lot of extra credit though and it bumped up my grade a whole letter at the end. The exams are hard so make sure you study, but he uses questions from previous exams too. There are 3 exams, 1 Final and also a group project that is very tough.
Dr. Park is clear in what he expects from students. Do EXACTLY WHAT HE ASKS. The extra credit REALLY helps. This course is the hardest course I've ever had to take. The exams are difficult, watch for trick questions. The reviews he posts are almost identical to what the exams are. Stick with it!! Don't drop, even if everyone else is.
The best teacher I've ever met. Just follow what he said, you will get an easy A. I learned 1000 times more in this class than any other classes. My point a view has changes tremendously and I decided to study Economics as my major .
Learned a lot. Skipping class is not a good idea. Don't drop. Extra credit boosted my scores. Exams are cumulative. Be prepared for pop quizzes.
Dr. Kwang's lectures are not taught or explained well. He moves through his slides extremely fast and consistently fails at explaining/ supporting his quiz answers. Hard to understand him.
By far the worst teacher I have had in my life. I've had professors teach in languages I don't understand and learnt more. No teaching skills whatsoever, all he does is read off his notes and his PowerPoint that appears to be one of those pre-made PowerPoints. Very arrogant, rubs off in his teaching.
Hard to understand, not that well layed out as goes assignments and lectures, hard to follow and doesn't get the class involved
Knows the material but struggles clearly communicating with students. Makes little sense and doesn't teach or answer any questions accurately. The tests were WAY harder than anything we ever did or learned in class, I'm an A, B student and I got like 65% in the class. Wouldn't recommend
His class is very tough. However, he really knows what he's talking about. If you put the time and effort in, you'll pass for sure. My class started with 11 students, and ended with only 4. We got a lot more one-on-one time, and he's actually pretty funny. Overall, put in the work, show you care, and you will definitely pass.
My class started with over 25 students and ended with ten. He is arrogant and when questions arise which they often do he does an awful job at explaining the material to the students. He is not respectful and not helpful at all during office hours. Would not recommend at all.
Comes off as extremely intimidating. If you put in effort and show respect, Dr. Park will respect you and make your experience much easier. He is very knowledgable. You will learn a lot, but it wont necessarily be easy.
the way he teaches in class and the way he ask questions in class are completely different. To make it worse he has no study guild and instead tells you to learn from the book. The book is completely different from his teaching. I would have been better off just learning on my own
No Cengage, just old textbook studying. I took the class synchronous meaning zoom meetings (1 hour+). Had a quiz on D2L for each chapter (10 -15 multiple choice questions) 3 exams on D2L (ranging from 50-55 multiple choice questions) which are PROCTORED and a final exam(yet to take). Hope this that helps. Major required this class (MRKT). A- is 85%
Prof. Park is a stats pro. He can answer any question you have in class easily. He works through helpful examples in each lecture. Only 3 exams kept stress low. Chapter quizzes helped review too; they closely resemble the exams. Be sure to research stats vocab before/during the course. Overall, Park is a kind guy who wants his students to succeed.
