Just thought I'd add to all these comments that this prof was truly charming and passionate about a subject that could easily prove boring for 1st year students. Emphasizes the importance of non-western perspectives.

This teacher is the smartest because he knows people are going to drop his class thats why he hands back the tests late after the withdrawl period. Where does Kwantlen find these guys.
Worst teacher I ever had and unfortunately, I'm going to suffer again with him since I'm majoring in geog. Lectures are boring and he doesn't make the class fun. Kwantlen needs new geog teachers because Agbemenu, Fowler and Sawchuck are really bad!
I got an A+, know your stuff and it is easy. Boring class-no breaks. He wants to know who discovered what. Ask him what you need to know and what you don't. A very interesting man, but goes off on tangents.
DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER, I REPEAT DO NOT TAKE HIM!!! If you care about your GPA or your sanity for that matter, don't put yourself through a class with him.

No breaks, takes up to four weeks to hand back assignments, had our class mark the last assignment, and put his arm around me after class!
has a different way of teaching. quite unorganized. doesn't tell us when the tests are going to be until a week beforehand. asks us what it is that we are to cover next. with what he does teach, though, he is clear

Hey I know most of you hate him... but honestly... I think he is a great teacher... the key to doing well is listening and taking notes... he always tests on what he says... usually you just spit something back at him he said in class! I absorbed this guy
He's a highly educated African man, which gives him a different perspective on many issues. I found this perspective quite interesting, but I was a rarity in the class. He can be dry, he doesn't give breaks, and he's super lazy about marking your work.

Totally un-organized! Very unclear with his expectations. Hands back assignments so it's too late to drop. BORING! I have had Fowler too and it's the same thing.

I had him for 5 different geog classes he is never organized, takes forever to hand a test back, and it is never fully marked when he does hand it back, PLUS..if you don't use the proper grammer, he will take tons of marks off..ARGUE YOUR GRADES !!!!!
Worst teacher i ever had. I had the highest mark in the class and it was only 67%. His notes mean nothing for the test and just expects you to know things never taught in class!
he is completely unorganized...he doesnt even know what he has lectured to each of his classes..unfair marker..puts things on mid terms which were never taught to the class...marks insanely hard...more than 3/4 of the class failed the mid term exam
Tests extremely difficult as little material used from the book. Does not offer breaks during his class. When I spoke to him private about a question I had, he was very rude to me and humiliated me in front of several classmates, leaving me in tears.
He is not a good teacher. He will give you a multiple choice test and then when you get it back he says you should ahve circled 3 of the 4 awnswers, i'm sorry but that is not a multiple choice test.

He made fun of people who asked questions,he yelled at all of us because someone out of his 4 sections complained to the dean about him.Never handed stuff back and assigned our term project in the last 3 weeks and it involved more work than just a paper

Super nice guy with a very interesting heritage whcih help him produce great examples BUT,marking is erratic, all major test were equally easy yet i got very different grades when i knew the topics all equally and he is COMPLACENT he forgot our final exam

Took Intro. Not the easiest. Hard marker. Makes you really think though. Failed ALL his tests, but I spoke a lot in class, best mark was 48%. Ended with a B. Don't ask how. He's harder then pronouncing his last name. Good guy though. Ask a lot of questions and read the text. DONT WHINE!
Worst TEACHER EVER. I've taken Geography in grade 11 and 12, averaging about 89% at a top private school no less. I then took 1110 which required math and what not so it's even hrader then a intro 1101, and even in that class I had at least 75%. I am failing his class. he sucks.
ok i really like the guy and everything he had to say but his marking is ridiculously hard. ill never understand why teachers take off marks for grammar when the concept is completely nailed. if he eased up his marking id love him but i took geography and not english for a reason. i hate shakespeare

Took this guy in 1990 for "Human Geography" (yeah, a while ago)--the worst ever. A lazy-ass clown who often came to class unprepared. Meandered all over the place with many pointless asides. Worst of all he wanted people to collaborate on exams so he wouldn't have so much to mark. Avoid like the plague. Fifteen years later and I'm still ticked...
Avoid this prof at all cost, he doesn't care about the welfare of his students. He also got our class to mark our midterms. This is not allowed. For the midterm, he also came to class with not enough exams. As well, he also collected pledges for his daughter who attends...get this...Little Flower Academy to buy new computers. What a joke!

People are such complainers, this guy goes slowly and is a bit boring but his material makes sense and his tests are fair if you actually study. School isn't going to be a cakewalk. I would definitly take him again.
Agebemenu is the best teacher I have ever had at Kwantlen... HONEST! He has alot of knowledge to share with students and his tests are fair! These people here exagerate... He is not all bad!
An odd teacher who fits my style wonderfully. Does not baby students, allows for flexibility with assignments. Explains things well and assumes, like me, that students have some level of common sense and a basic understanding of principles. Avoid if you need to be spoon fed. Allows many opprotunities for questions in class.
Lazy and unmotivated- forgets to come to final exams, or doesn't bring enough exams, makes students mark tests, etc. Assigns a test on three chapters but will only test you on one. Skipped class and put on video to teach us in lieu. What the hell did I pay $300 for, anyway? So this guy can act like teaching his students is the biggest burden ever?
I took his course in 1989 and just by chance looked him up on the net today and sure enough, he's doing the same stuff he did with my class. Students self marking exams etc. This guy is black btw and plays the race card as if it were the only one in his deck. Avoid like the plague is all i can say. Dry teaching methods and just plain boring.
By far the worst teacher I have ever had. He is incomplete and unclear and he will tell you a test is on chapter 3 but it will actually be on chapter 2. He forgets what he has talked about and is not helpful. I tried to ask him about a mark on a test and he couldn't explain himself. He should not be allowed to teach.

If you want to LEARN and care about learning, this is ur guy! I liked his classes because I was there to learn. he is very knowledgeable and i would definitely take him again if he comes to Douglas. If u r a student who complains about instructors, then STAY AWAY!!...Out of 30 ppl, 9 actually stayed the whole semester and 3 of us got an 'A'. So...
I found him quite interesting. All that you need to do in his class is comie and take notes. And his teachiing involves a lot of interaction. I liked his class
if you want to get a "F" ,choose his class. if you want to downward your GPA,choose his class. if you want to wait youe final grade for a extremely long period,then just simplly find him. He will give all yoor needs!!!
he's a smart guy and seemed pretty nice and tried to be funny, but he's not very clear, i mostly relied on the textbook for my information. the 2 mid terms and a final exam that were okay but you really gotta know you're stuff, he loves detail.

He wants you to take the concepts he's teaching and apply them to life, but it's hard to do because he doesn't give you the necessary tools to do that. You feel like you don't have the knowledge to do this and as a result the tests are difficult. He will omit the questions you don't do well on to mitigate this. He is a nice guy though.
Extremely gifted teacher, you can tell that he loves to empart knowledge, sometimes a bit too much (he can wander). Very smart man with a lot to offer if you like to learn.
Loved him! Out of all of my college professors (and I've had quite a few) he is by far one of the most memorable and made a postive impression on my life.

Professor Agbemenu is one unique teacher. He's a great story teller, and gets his message across with his knowledge. He does get a bit long winded and drags his lectures too long; however, this depends on the topic. He is a tough marker and will give you great feedback.
