This is Kyle's first year teaching at Bellevue College, and he is an amazing teacher. I would recommend taking one of his classes if you are interested in marketing, advertising, andor business. He tells you what he does and does not want in an assignment. He makes everything very clear and is always open to questions.

Kyle is a wonderful new teacher to Bellevue College and I am so happy he is here! A much needed inspirational down to earth professor that actually cares about his students and how they feel about his class. He is very encouraging and helpful. Not only does he want students to pass his class but be prepared for the real world! Highly recommended!

This is Kyle's first year teaching, coming from 15 years working for ad agencies. He focused on helping students really understand the materiel not just focusing on textbook answers. His assignments take into consideration students while using real business situations. He teaches a must take class for those who want to understand advertising.

For starters he is a wonderful teacher! He works hard to help his students understand marketing in the real world. His assignments are not outlined clearly but if you ask he will tell you what he is looking for. Overall this is a great class to take after MKTG 154 and gives you an opportunity to really delve into marketing.

Tons you can be learned but you have to be willing to come up with a well thought out and rational reason with evidence to back up your claim. Anything that you can make a serious case for he will hear out and give tons of points for. Be blunt, and honest, if your able to explain why your point is valid he will respect your idea.

First of all everyone calls him Kyle. He is the most down to earth, respectful, helpful teacher on the Bellevue Campus. He may be new, but he is already making a difference on campus (DECA club&more) and impacting each student in his classes by not only teaching material, but giving students insights about what is useful in their future career.

Tough subject, Research + Marketing Interesting class. It can be fun but you need to use your peers, combine efforts so you have a team that can handle the Data and Research and combine it with Business. Critical that you need to explain how the #s and study will make money. Expect to branch out fields.

Speak up in his class. If you have questions ask! He will answer them! You do have to participate and you do need to show up to classes to understand the assignments. Overall a fun class but there is a lot of work that is time consuming! There is a group project but it was fun. Pick your group wisely though. This class is fun but not an easy A.

You will learn a lot of useful information. There is a group project but it's a simulation and helps with learning the material. His tests are tricky because of his wording and phrases, but learn the material and you will be fine. It's a great class to take with Kyle! There is a lot of work and it's time consuming but it helps the learning process.

Kyle is the perfect professor you need for marketing. He has lots of knowledge and experience in this area. He will be there for you anytime you need him, he gives great feedback and always makes sure you understand his material. It's more of leaning with him than just book material. Really fun class, would take again for sure!!

A few assignments were not really clear but he helped out with everything in the end. He's very helpful.

Sometimes frustrating subject, but worth taking for my career

Advertising is the subject & i thought i had some experience and understanding of it but walking away now to me Advertising is like a form of Art. Endless styles, types, ways to create and use it. It's hard to imagine anyone not finding a place in the world of advertising they connect with passion to. Any Teacher turning Advertising into art win.

After taking this class with Kyle Barber I am definitely more likely to work in advertising one day. In fact, I became much more interested in all promotional tools and advertising especially. I enjoy thinking outside of a box, love using my creativity and marketing knowledge and Kyle gives one enough space to do it all. He is excellent teacher!

DECA has opened so many doors for me and I have grown so much as a business person and as an individual. Kyle is the most inspirational ad motivating guy I have ever met. He is an amazing man and an amazing teacher. I also took his MKTG 234 class and LOVED it. I would take his classes over and over again. I would encourage anyone to join DECA.

Such a change at Bellevue to have a youngish professor who has current, relevant experience and keeps in touch with professionals in the industry. Material used was recently released and interactive. Course material is useful for current employment and for future. Instantly applicable. Treats students like adults and responds to class feedback.

Classes are entertaining and pertinent. Presentations are considered an essential skill. Professor is from the industry, and up to date with current conditions. Good preparation for entering this profession. A high standard of English useful, fast-paced. Group project throughout quarter, pick a good team. extra credit available. Not an easy ride.

Kyle Barber is a very competent teacher. He is respectful and always willing to help. He does everything to help learning. He brings fresh coursework and his courses are very relevant in today's job market. I highly recommend taking his classes.

Mr. Barber is one of those rare instructors who has great passion for his subject matter, for his students and for education. He is tough, but fair. His knowledge of digital marketing/new technology and social media is desperately needed for students who want to go into digital marketing, for for those like me who are returning to college.

He's very knowledgeable in Marketing, (Promotions and advertising) He challenges me which I really like as it makes me work hard in truly understanding not what advertising is , but how I make my approach relevant to the consumer. I love this class as he's very creative, inspirational and teaches more than just learning from a textbook.

If you're already in DECA club. Make sure to take this class. It gives you more time to prepare for your events and get your questions answered by Kyle or any of the officers. I would say its an easy A but there is a few assignments you need to write, so you do have to put some work into it.

the class i took was my first hybrid. i personally had a hard time keeping up with the online work. but, if you've taken a hybrid class, you should excel. kyle is a really fantastic teacher. Because he's been in the business first hand, he has very accurate and helpful information and knowledge about this subject. i highly recommend this class :)

MKTG 290 is designed for the students who are interest or who joined DECA. I learned a lot of presentation skills from DECA. Kyle is the most motivated professor I have ever met. He gives you helpful feedback every time you practice with him. He cares about every students no matter where you are from!! I love Kyle!

Excellent teacher! A breath of fresh air, approachable and current with marketing standard for today as well as looking ahead. Hes passionate about the material and highly encourages critical thinking. If you want to learn and be able to apply creative ideas with the material, youll do great in his classes. Kyle is the best marketing teacher I met at Bellevue College. Before I took his class, I think marketing is all about giving discounts or incentives to customers, but after taking his class, I found out I was totally wrong. It's an amazing class, definitely worth to take it even if you don't major in marketing.

DECA is the best choice for students who are interested in business world. You need to make appointments for practicing, and Kyle will consider those efforts, so if you are absent once or twice for class, you are still fine. By preparing the DECA events, I learned way more than what I learned in any marketing class. Kyle is the best coach!

I'm really sad that MKTG 240 won't be available anymore. In this class, I learned a lot about digital marketing such as paid search and organic search. The simulation was tough, but I did learn a lot from that, too. This was the first class I took with Kyle. He is really passion on teaching. Very useful class!

Kyle is a wonderful professor that is not only very knowledgeable when it comes to marketing but he is also very passionate about teaching it which makes it great and fun experience for a student. You will have a lots of work to do in this class but your money will be well spent because you really will learn!

I really enjoyed all Kyle's marketing classes I have taken at BC in past two years but this one was one of my favorite. In this current word every marketer needs to be on the top when it comes to knowledge of new digital trends, apps, different platform etc. This is just introductory class but definitely worth spending the time and money!

I really enjoyed this class but it is a lot about the final group project so make sure to pick team of great and reliable people and then you will enjoy it as well! Kyle gives really interesting lessons, asks excellent questions and makes you think outside of the box. There is also extra credit available in case you missed something.

I wish there will be more Professors like Kyle Barber, I been taking only a quarter with him and I am surprise by the effort, knowledge and passion he applies when he teaches. Kyle took an interest in me like no other teacher or professor has. If you are interested in marketing and he see's even an ounce of potential in you, Kyle will invest in you without question and drive you to become a better student and eventually professional.

Kyle is a character and once you take a class with him and will get used to his learning style you will be happy to take one of his classes after another. Luckily, there is so much to choose from, because he is incredibly smart & experienced and loves to help others and to pass & share his experience from real marketing world! An excellent teacher!

I learnt so much in this class and strongly recommend taking it to anybody interested in learning how to make videos and getting better understanding of how world of advertising works. As in all wonderful Kyle's classes you will practice coming up with strategy and tactics. Make sure to choose the right team for group project big portion of grade

I have taken several of Kyle's classes over the course of a few years now. He teaches several marketing classes and is, in my opinion, the best teacher if you really enjoy hands-on learning. In every class, Kyle pushes his students to actually go out and DO what is learned in class. Each class requires presentations, so you learn to expand skills.

He is a great teacher, NEVER TAKE HIM FOR TWO CLASSES AT ONCE!!!! You have been warned!

Over my years in Bellevue College, I have taken several classes with Kyle Barber and I have to say that this was one of my favorite classes of his. It probably has got a lot to do with the fact that I am generally interested in advertising but it is also because Kyle simply knows what he is talking about - He used to work in ad agencies for years.

Amazing Teacher, but extremely tough grader. He is very picky about what he wants, so make sure you understand the lectures. Most important, you have to learn! Otherwise, you won't pass this class. Also, choose your group member carefully, because all the members of your group will get the same grades on group projects.

Finally a professor that truly cares about the futures of his students! Kyle is experienced in all avenues of the marketing field and wants you to gain hands on experience. His classes will prepare you for the real world rather than just a theoretical one. You have to be willing to learn in order to succeed, but he will bend over backwards to help.

Kyle was one of the most impactful professors I had during my time at Bellevue College. He leads the classroom in a way that captivates students and by the end you leave knowing more. He is the kind of Professor that you dont forget. And quite frankly, youre better for having had him as an educator.

Excellent lecturer & great professor! You'll work hard & learn lots! Grading criteria is unclear at times. It's nearly impossible to earn a perfect grade. It can appear arbitrary when points seem randomly subtracted. Points are deducted for using note cards during presentations. DECA members get extra leeway & are favored, so join DECA. (I didn't)

He's the best lecturer of any professor I've had over the course of 5 years of college. He assigns a lot of work. Group projects can be your downfall so choose wisely. Ask for clarification early if you don't understand something. If you don't "get it," your work will be wrong. You can submit assignments early for feedback to improve your grade.

Kyle is one of the best professors I've ever had. He is committed to teaching his students real-world marketing as he has the experience to back it up! His coursework is very demanding and sometimes unstructured, but it pushes students to dig deep and apply themselves.... There's marketing classes and then there's "Kyle classes!" He's a Go-To!!!

Kyle is a tough grader, and expects high-quality work from students, regardless of experience. This was my second class with him, honestly his classes stress me out and are overwhelming. However, he pushes you to be better and to collaborate with classmates, which is ultimately why you should take his classes.

Kyle is the best professor I've had at BC. If you're serious about being successful in marketing you will value him greatly. He has extensive experience & is passionate in sharing his knowledge. He's tough but with the best interest of his students in mind. If you want to succeed & you're willing to work for it, this is the professor you need.

Kyle is an amazing professor! Very knowledgeable, and willing to help outside class. My group sent him numerous drafts and he was very helpful and guided us towards having an awesome grade. Industry experienced (not as a teacher), respectful, gracious, kind. Difficult, honest grader. Learned the most when in-person. He tests endurance & understanding. Choose teammates wisely, put in the effort & show it, attend all check-ins, do the EC, communicate w/ him, ask for feedback regularly, take advantage of the resources he gives.

Kyle treats and grades you like a real marketing professional, not a student. Don't expect an easy class. He expects you to study and put in some effort. Honestly I like the challenge of his assignments, he doesn't just give A's to every student like some other profs. Students who complain about him just want a degree and a easy way out of life

If you were to ask to name the most charismatic instructor this would be Kyle. Yes, he is tough on grading and yes he makes you work a lot. You must be ready to raise a bar. If you are not ready, then Kyle is not for you. Kyle became my mentor, the person who left his footprint on my professional and personal development. Very thankful to him!

Kyle is really the only professor that holds students accountable for learning SOMETHING about marketing. Bad students just complain and try to cheat off other good students. Trust me I have worked with some advanced students who know NOTHING about marketing and wonder how they got so far in the program

If I could see all the faces of the crap reviews, it is probably stupid students who do nothing in group projects. Kyle wants you to put in effort in classes. He grades hard but honest. Be with good students or else you will pay for it in group projects

Don't get me wrong, Kyle's class is incredibly difficult and requires you to work hard and work ahead on all of your projects in order to receive feedback. The people that complain about him just don't like being pushed as students or called out for poor work. Kyle is a great professor and great resource in marketing/advertising.

He is a strict teacher, but you learn a lot from him. You can reach him outside of class, and he will give you feedback on assignments to make sure you are doing the best you can, but you need to be the one to do the work.

He's not a terrible professor, he simply wants to see that you actually care about learning. Maybe he has eased up a bit from the past, but I am an average/good student and get good grades by participating and showing interest. He can be a tougher grader, but if you put in effort you will get a good grade (and no I am not in DECA).

One of the toughest and best professor. He really wants students to succeed in real world, so he pushes them to do to their best. To succeed in his class, I recommend that you select dedicated team members who are serious about this class. Also, make the most of the office hours by asking questions and incorporating his feedback into your work.

A large portion of your grade is determined by group projects, so make sure to select the best team. Always ask for his feedback on your work; this will help you in understanding what you need to improve in order to receive good grades. Participate in his class and always take notes on his lecture; this will help you with your final exam.

If you follow with the syllabus every day, which involves reading chapters, watching videos, and taking lecture notes, you will do well on the final exam. Pick the best team and pay attention to his lectures. The class is tough, but if you put in the effort, you will easily pass.

Kyle is a VERY hard professor, and rightfully so. As one commenter also said, always ask for feedback as it's a great teaching moment. Participate in class and ALWAYS take notes on his lecture, it'll be on the final. His class is hard because he wants you to succeed. Not for the faint of heart, and you'll pass easily if you REALLY put the work in.

Do the work weak ahhh students

Kyle tells you how it is, and a lot of people get their egos hurt because of that. The class is a bit of a grind for sure, but if you come into it with a humble attitude and are ready to learn and apply yourself, you'll be fine. Also be EXTREMELY Selective with who is in your group, form it right away and pay attention to people who know MKTG.

I transferred from a university to BC, and I can say with confidence that Prof. Barber is the best professor I've ever had. He will push you to turn in the best work you possibly can. Class is tough, but he genuinely cares about students. He was also influential in helping me receive an internship. A fair criticism is that he returns feedback late.

I was initially leaning toward some of the other negative reviews due to the ambiguity of the class, but there's a lot of misconceptions. Yes it's tough, yes teaching can be inconsistent, yes every point matters. But that's the exact point he wants to make. Imagine what you gain overcoming with a team through pressure. Diamonds. Though I cried a few times about his class, I did in fact learn a lot. He is a lot more strict than other mktg professors in the programs, but you just need to care about the class and consciously do the work.

His classes and assignments are challenging, but you do get to actually learn. You gotta do the work and put some effort if you genuinely want to learn and pass the class.

Course is rigorous and expectations are high, but that's to be expected at a 400 level class. My biggest concern is that the pacing of the course is incredibly difficult to keep up w/, especially if you have other classes or life circumstances. However, I learned a great deal from this course and believe he teaches it well, albeit a bit outdated

Might be the only mktg professor that actually teaches something.

I am sure that most students that leave awful reviews in here are the same ones that do not do anything in group projects, or participation. Just do not leave anything for the very last day and you should be fine. Learning is a process, not something that happens overnight. If you want to learn, Kyle has a lot to teach.
