Kyle is a new Prof to UTSC. He is incredibly thoughtful & intentional about helping students succeed. This course specifically surveyed developmental methods, required 3 class presentations & a written research proposal. He is a tough marker with writing but gives extensive, detailed feedback. Great experience for anyone pursuing grad studies.
Kyle is a really great professor who teaches interesting lectures, while making sure everyone understands. I would definitely recommend taking courses with him.
Professor Kyle Danielson is amazing, passionate and caring! He always lets students ask questions in lecture and will move slowly so they understand. He also has very clear lecture slides that help with the online tests ( Mtuner). I never miss his lecture even tho its at 9AM because he always makes it so interesting! Definitely take this course!!
Kyle's a really caring guy. Appreciate everything he's done for students especially considering that this is his first year at UTSC. Genuine, funny, and actually innovative with class activities and examples. He breaks from the norm in a refreshing way that promotes learning and makes the course easier to understand.
Amazing professor, he is very passionate about psychology and explains all the concepts very well. Watch lectures and just skim through the textbook and you will be good.
Loved class with Prof. Danielson. He took over for Joordens and I personally liked that. His teaching style was easy to follow and I loved watching these lectures!
A great professor. Very approachable and answers questions with precise answers. Really liked how he reviews the previous lecture materials at the beginning of the class.
good prof, really enjoyed his class. Get ready to read the book tho, lectures are amazing but not enough at all for getting a good mark. The exam can be a bit tricky as well
I like Kyle's class. He always makes things clear and reasonable. The quiz and in-class practice are interesting and smart. I will definitely choose his course when it is possible.
He is the best of the best. Pro Kyle simply made me regained my confidence in the human being again. He is not only knowledgeable but he is very humble great listener who respect everyone .He is a gift for all the psychology students.
He is honestly the prof who made me love psychology and decide to major in it. After PSYA01 I would have said hell no to psych in general, but he honestly just makes you ENJOY learning it. He's really kind and super clear at explaining things. You won't regret taking this course :)
He was a great professor! Made the content we were learning about interesting and really cares about his students. For the exams, it is a good idea to look over section summaries and bolded words in the textbook and study the lecture slides.
Amazing prof! One of the most profs! Really wants his students to do well, very detailed lectures. His mtuners are a good indication of his difficulty of exam questions. Very helpful at office hours!
Poor teaching quality. Does not know how to properly be a professor. Tests are harder than they deserve to be. Feel the need to have difficulty of 4th year chem. They make psychology unnecessarily difficult and very repulsive to be a part of. Would never take this class or prof again. They seem to enjoy handing out poor grades to hard workers.
For a D level psych course, he is a tough grader. Be perfect or get a C in his class. No room for a B. Doesnt really explain assignments. Course load is huge compared to other D level psych courses.
Lectures are so interesting and he is very clearing at explaining them. Very detailed content & engaging. He is approachable. No textbook for this course, but there was research articles instead. Exams were very fair. The course consisted of 3 reading reflections, tophat, 2 midterms and final paper. Reading reflections were marked hard by the TA's.
He's really good at explaining concepts and makes sure to do it in the simplest form. There's quite a bit of reading since you'll get tested on both lectures and textbook but just make sure to get basic terms and concepts. In lectures, he kinda talks too much or goes into too much detail but its fine lol.
Kyle is a blessing for UTSC psychology department.
Prof. Danielson is the best. He's detail oriented, but exams aren't hard. When we went through the development chapter, his knowledge of babies and infancy was so interesting. I think Joordens lectures were amazing, but Danielson's lectures really tie into the textbook a lot better. Also his use of fancy words is iconic, a true academic.
I rarely attended any of my 8:30 am psych lectures, but now as I'm rewatching them I LOVE KYLE! He tries to answer everyones questions during class, which can drag it on, but shows he cares! What I suggest is to focus on lectures rather than readings if you are short on time. He explains everything clearly and is easy to follow. Interesting course
Hes completely disrespectful and condescending to students. All he cares about is his own ego so if you want a grade boost go to office hours and suck up. Hes a tough grader and youll need to put in a lot of work to get an A. Id take this class with literally anyone else.
From my entire first year at UTSC, Danielson is one of the best profs I've had. His expectations are very clear, his mTuner and TopHat questions are a good indication of the questions on the midterm and exam. His lectures were very engaging and I love how he allots a huge chunk of time per lecture to answer everybody's questions.
Prof. Danielson is definitely one of the best profs I've had. His lectures are very interesting and you can tell he really cares about the material and his students. Make sure to study both his lectures and the textbook material for his midterm and final because questions from both will appear.
Really good at lecturing - only complaint I have is that his breaks are very short (around 2 minutes), which could make the lecture too content-heavy for an exhausted brain so try not to have back-to-back classes. Exams are pretty fair, but don't expect higher than a 90. This class is a bit more difficult than his PSYC24 class.
Memorize everything: read the textbook and watch lectures at 1.5x speed online (he speaks fairly slowly so it sounds normal), because he does test from both. Lighter memorization than PSYA01, so only need 6-7h/week (and 1-2 full days to study for the exam). Also, there's a free online textbook pdf. Prof is really nice and the course is interesting.
Friendly and helpful prof. Fair (non-cumulative) exams. Makes content interesting and relatable so lectures were enjoyable. Super organized and stayed on schedule, way better than PsyA01 prof.
Amazing prof , he explains amazingly and genuinely cares about his students. I def plan to take more courses with him !
Caring is an understatement. This professor is incredible and does everything he can to accommodate his students and make them feel comfortable and heard. The class was by no means an easy course, but it was taught very well, and we were given many opportunities to receive credit. The most incredible professor I have ever encountered at UTSC. Wow!
Firstly, Tophat and the textbook are expensive. It is not so friendly for a science student, who don't really need to buy textbook for his/her major. Secondly, there a lot of papers. Prepare for them and DO NOT take this course during coop term or when you are prepare for other certification test. It is really awkward to set deadline at 2 pm.
He is absolutely incredible. By far the most kind, respectable and open professor. He's sometimes hard on himself because he holds himself to a high professional standard. You are incredible sir, keep doing what you're doing!!!
Honestly one of the best profs at UTSC. His explanations are amazing and he is a great person overall. Truly cares about his students and wants to help them understand better. His exams are more application-based rather than memorization.
attendance in his lectures were not mandatory, but you need to watch recordings. the lectures are very informative and he explains content very well. exams and midterms are crazy hard you have to really study and review if you want at least an 80
I honestly love this prof, during lects he's very interactive with his students, and the way he explains content is amazing. I even enjoy watching lects and I look forward to them. I find his exams very fair, he's true to his word, what he says is gna be on it, is there. I just watched his lecs and just go over my notes and I get solid marks
He teaches really well. Study mostly lec if ure short on time. I didnt read the tb & still got A. He reviews questions at the beginning of each lec which is very similar to his exam questions. He goes slow so u can watch lec @1.5x. Very caring bout his students & answers all students. Peerscholar is alot better thanA01. A02>A01.m 100%.
Danielson is a gem, much better and less arrogant than Joordens. Lots of students found A02 material harder than A01 but it was the opposite for me since he was such a good prof. You don't need to watch the lectures, but they are very interesting. Focus on the things that are covered in both the lectures AND the textbook.
Professor Danielson is a GEM!! Lectures are really intriguing and he explains concepts clearly. He really cares about us students especially with the covid situation.
We were behind schedule since week 1. He made extra videos to get us caught up twice, but fell behind immedialy after again. Had to skip the last chapter because in every class, he'd answer every question in the chat (mostly by students who didn't read the readings/syllabus, or things out of scope of the course). Very boring if you do your readings
Can really tell that he loves his work, and is amazing at teaching and making sure his students understand the material. Peerscholar is hard, and you really need to pay attention and make lots of notes for the final. But gives lots of resources and examples to help you prepare for the exams.
Easy course, just read the textbook and take notes. Going through lecture slides is usually enough instead of watching the lecture. Assignment was research based, had to summarize an article and relate it to the course content. There are no practice tests but exams are easy if you've read the tb/slides and taken notes.
He explains things very well and makes lectures enjoyable. Also quite caring about his students. The course content is very interesting as well, so I would recommend it as an elective.
This class only had a midterm, final, and a paper to make up your mark. With the addition of some extra credit work. I found the 24 lectures insane for a 12 week course. I found questions to be very specific and sometimes hard. He was good at explaining the concepts and you could reach out to TA's via email
Very kind! There's a lot of reading, but honestly comparing lecture notes to the textbook it's worth it. Exams were open book as well which really reinforces the teachings. Most importantly during a peer edit assignment, I came across a racist remark and he handled it swiftly but most importantly very kindly and respectfully.
His lectures are interesting and informative. The midterm was a bit hard but still doable as long as you read the textbook and pay attention to his lectures. The final exam is pretty easy since most of the questions are come from his lectures. To sum up, take good notes for his lectures and read the textbook at least twice, then you will be fine.
He is one of the best prof in UTSC, his lectures was very clear and exam questions are fair and mostly lecture based. Highly recommended!
No comments. One of the best prof in UTSC. Even if I take this course as a bread requirement.
A nice professor. Textbook and lectures are fair and highly-relatived to the exams. Just take it as a bird course.
Professor Danielson's lectures weren't the best as they simply reiterated the textbook. However, the projects, paper, and textbook content were very fun. The exams were more application-based and less theoretical. I definitely recommend it as a requirement or elective.
Everything you could want in a professor! Clear, engaging, extremely straightforward. Class is a bit difficult as it is a lot of material. But all around amazing professor.
A lot of content to digest, it took me 3 weeks to prep for 5 chapters, but the content is pretty interesting. The only main issue was the lectures, if you're not a fan of being in person at 8:30 in the morning, the audio quality of the lecture uploads isn't that good either.
this is a really amazing course! It basically summarized lots of psy knowledge learned throughout the 3 years and applied it to "living" as a human. it is not simply "adulthood" ,it talks about --- the ultimate goal of learning psychology
Professor Danielson is the best prof at UTSC!! He is extremely kind and cares about his students. His lectures were very relevant to his exams. I would say to read the textbook sections that are related to concepts he mentions in lecture, as those were the ones that mainly appeared on his exams. Overall, nothing but good things to say amazing prof
Professor Danielson lectures are very informative and taking good notes will help you ace the course.
Lectures are fun and helpful and teaches a good amount matching the textbook mostly. I still reccomend using the textbook as the main basis of study. Tons of extra marks here and there and peerScholar as well. Overall, an easy class if you can put in the work. Reccomend.
I don't think this is a bird course... Even though the content is interesting, it's not THAT easy to get a good grade since you have to understand everything thoroughly. The midterm was online, and the final is in-person all multiple choice.
Very straightforward and nice professor :') Midterm and finals are heavily lecture based so make sure you take good notes. I memorized the terms from the tophat glossary and bombed the final so don't be like me HAHA
he was great, he explained things thuroughly and always paused to answer any questions
W prof, cool + nice guy and his lectures are so interesting. He has me interested in learning psych again :) he was also super fair on the midterm, lets just wait to see the final!! So far, my favourite class!!
Compared to PSYA01, this is truly amazing. One of the best professors I had during my first year. Lectures are very clear and easy to understand! So far, I've only taken the midterm, but just watching the lectures should get you a good grade, whereas reading the textbook + lectures can get you a 100 (no joke).
Amazing prof! Super interesting lectures and really organized
Best prof ever! All of his lectures are so useful for his exams and I found the midterm to be based more so on lectures than textbook. He is kind and also very passionate about teaching which makes the lectures easy to watch and understand! I would take him again in a heart beat. I studied for about 2 days and managed a 85.
w prof, super relatable and his lectures have made me interested in psych again! YAY for danielson!! :D
Ate down....
so good, incredible, absolutely LOVE him! lecs are engaging and funny, content is well taught and clear, and assignments and exams are fair. a literal angel, would 100% recommend!
I only took the async. side but the lectures are really fun! He speaks slowly enough that you can watch at 2x speed without any major problems, just rewind sometimes when detailed info is put down. You should make notes of the slides. The midterm was a really easy multiple choice but like a lot of health sci courses theres lots of rote memorization
LOVE HIM HES SO FAIR AND ADORBS he also is so helpful
LOVE this prof! SUPER helpful with learning goals at the start of every lecture slides! it helps with studying the materials when used as a checklist. very clear expectations and great explanations on lectures and assignments. tests are easy and similar to questions done in class. IF YOU TAKE PSYA02 WITH KYLE, YOU ARE IN GOOD HANDS
Loved this professor! He's so good and caring. His lectures are never boring, and he tells you exactly what he expects. If you go to class and study the lectures, you can easily get 100%. He's super fair and doesn't try to trick you on exams. Sad this class is over:(
Can't emphasize how great Dr. Danielson is. He is truly inspirational and caring for students who are interested in psychology. If you are planning to take psya02, take the course with him! I would love to take the courses by him in the future.
Midterm/Exam is mostly based on what he says during lectures and slides. He's prolly my fav professor at UTSC.
The mid-term and final exam for PSYA02 were based solely on the lectures and the very detailed slides provided. Professor Danielson was very kind and was able to breakdown the harder concepts into simple terms and examples.
Goated. Sensational. Make sure you attend lectures.
Worst teacher I've ever had. He dropped my final grade from 90% to 70% just to meet a predetermined class average. Many students were unfairly affected some friends grade dropped from 74% to 47%. He made the course easy so most scored above 65%, then curved grades down harshly. It was unfair, demotivating, and didn't reflect our actual performance
Honestly a great professor, his lectures are straightforward and interesting for the most part. Despite this, the final exam was quite tricky and the class average fell around C+ -- my mark dropped about 10%. Main little assignments were simple, study well and you should be OK to go! : )
Danielson is a great prof, but that final mark made me cry quite a bit. The midterm was textbook and lecture focused, but the final was almost entirely lecture based. The assignments were graded questionably, but the fault lies with my TA. Danielson is a respectful lecturer and makes the content interesting.
I initially believed he would be a supportive and student-focused professor based on his demeanor, but unfortunately, my experience did not align with those expectations...

It appears that his primary focus is on completing his own responsibilities, often delegating most of the student engagement and instructional duties to the teaching assistants. This approach has given the impression that student support is not a priority.

the question he gives for term test practice is very diffrent from his exams.
the course suppose to be fun and makes you intrested in PSY, but it was heavier than all of my other courses, and the exams were hard
he does NOT bell curve, avoid him.
Kyle was really chill and a nice guy. Asignments were really learning conductive, really reccomend trying on them for free grades and skills. Final was a little tricky, as to be expected cus marks were high from other stuff (if u didnt expect that... lock in). Ultimately you wont have a choice if u want this prof or not so just tryhard the assigns
All I did to study for the midterm and final was watch his lectures once on 2x speed. He very clearly states that the vast majority of the midterm and final exam questions are based on the lectures. I didn't read any of the textbook chapters and got a 93 and 91 respectively. He's the goat.
He vanished during the term test and final exam — no support, no presence, nothing. It felt like we were completely abandoned. If students were drowning, he wouldn't even throw a rope. Academics seemed like the last thing he cared about. Truly disheartening.
if he is the prof for any of my course, I drop it.
I don't know what's tighter... his pants or the grading curve.
As a completed first year, he was my favourite prof. He is so genuine and his stories and examples have a purpose to the lecture, always set time for questions/answers within the lecture which made it very engaging even though I watched his recording 2X speed. Id love to take more courses with him
Taking 02 really sparked my passion for psychology. I enjoyed his teaching style, his lectures were engaging, and I found myself fully immersed in what he was saying. Highly recommend watching the lectures and attending in person, always. Also, try to read the textbook as much as you can, it really helps! (my A01 grade was better tho lol)
Prof. Danielson was AWESOME. Amazing prof!! I loved his lectures, they were incredibly engaging. He does make you participate but it's so worth it! It's probably helpful to read the textbook but.. I never did lol. 10000/10 he was amazing, I loved going to his class.
we were forced to participate in his reaserch survays, and if you choose to do something else instead to get mark he would accuse you of cheating or using AI and give you 0 in the course.
