Genius/Sheldon Cooper hot <3
Really made me understand and enjoy math...
This guy absolutely knows how to teach math. The textbook is auxiliary when you have all Harvey's slides- just use it for practise problems. He knows engineers must be quick and precise, and composes tests accordingly. Always available for outside consultation, always prepared, always exuberant.
he is very helpful and awesome at explaining concepts. his tests are very fair and he drops lots of hints in class for the tests/exam. the tests are very similar to the tutorials too. overall an excellent prof.
Best professor I've ever had. This was the third time I took the course and the ONLY time I actually understood everything. I really hope he continues teaching for the next little while, it'd be great to have him teach me again.
He is a very nice prof, and super helpful!I found that if I ever need to contact him,he was available. His lectures were good+easy to understand! Since its an 1.5 hours,it does get boring, but he does crack a joke..that may or may not be funny! The first day ICameToHisClass,HeEnteredTheLectureHallInTheSameDirectionAsUs,AndHonestlyThoughtHeWasAStudent!
I love this prof, although my class was late at night, I only missed two classes because I was ill. Very helpful with answering questions too! Because of the snow storm, I arrived my exam 30 minutes late and he let me take the exam, he even asked me if I was okay.
He is very helpful and a reasonable teacher, he removed questions on the test when they weren't fair. I also find him very funny. When I was 30 minutes late for my exam during a snow storm, he let me do my exam and he even kept asking if I was okay. I wish I can take his class again if I could.
Kyle is a great prof. His tests are very fair and if you attend lectures and do the homework, you should honestly have no problem getting an A. Lectures are not mandatory, but definitely help. You can pass without going to lectures.
He is a great, very sweet, kind guy. Never had a prof like him and I'm sure I never will. Really cares about his students. Also, really cute and hot.
A new professor still getting the hang of things. His tests are fair, and lectures contain many examples. His delivery of the material is boring and difficult to listen to.
Tests are very fair and he drops a lot of hints as to what will be on the test/exam if you go to class (and show up on time). Does a lot of (deadly) proofs but very easy to approach and ask for clarification.
Absolutely the best prof I have ever had. He drops a lot of hints during class and if you don't understand something and go to his office hours he will help you till you fully understands. He truly has a passion for teaching and wanting his students to understand and everyone benefits from this.
Amazing teacher, always willing to help. Like ALWAYS. Tries his best to teach students hard theories with examples galore.
He is the best math prof at Carleton. I wish he taught more classes and other than math so I could have him again.
Very welcoming and nice. I miss having him teach me.
Young and full of energy. Very knowledgeable and helpful. He doesn't use the microphone which sometimes makes him hard to hear. Class is enjoyable
Gives good feedback.
You must attend class to pass.
attend the class, read his slides, and you are set for an A latest.
No assignments, so better to attend tutorials. Tests are very similar to questions on slides and tutorials.
don't skip class, he gives good hints.
Thanks to him, I understand math now : )
What a lovely prof. He likes it when you participate in class, but I was too shy to participate and ask questions even after class. he explains everything, and makes sure you understand it. Attend class, do homework, you will get a decent grade.
I recommend that you print the slides in advance so that you can make minor notes in class when he explains ideas. Try not to skip class cause he gives test hints in class (especially when people leave). Make sure you redo slide examples and tutorials since he takes test questions from those. See him in his office hours if you are stuck it helps!
Amazing professor
Even though I find linear algebra a very boring topic, it ended up being one of my favourite classes. Kyle obviously loves teaching it and was very helpful. Best way to learn is to printwrite out notes in advance and add points while in class.
This guy is the type of teacher who will stay after class an extra hour to answer all your questions and give additional examples to make sure you get the idea. See him in his office hours and he will re-explain concepts one on one! Amazing prof!
Very helpful and relatable. Likes to get the point across but have fun and make it easy to understand in real life scenarios.
Amazing prof. You're in luck if you have this guy. He knows exactly what hes talking about and explains everything in a way that you will understand. He also occasionally hints at possible test questions by drawing little stars beside the questions he takes up in lectures. Do your homework on a regular basis and read the slides for an easy A.
this guy is your man, he gives the whole class free marks, is there to help you and is willing to help you in any way he can
I'm a fourth year biology student at Carleton and I put off taking calc. until my final year and really regretted it - however, KYLE HARVEY SAVED MY LIFE. 90s on all of his tests, lectures were actually enjoyable, calculus doesn't seem so daunting anymore and I actually did not hate this class. helpful, gives hints, great lecturer, thanks Kyle!
Barely passed calculus in high school, got an A in MATH 1007 with Kyle Harvey. This prof is the best.
Amazing professor.
Professor who knows his stuff inside and out. Gives hints for tests and is very clear about what to expect and he genuinely cares about the students. Anyone who takes his course is WELL prepared for the final exam. He has the reputation for being the best Math professor at Carleton.
Very thorough lectures.
Dr. Harvey is a solid choice. He's always smiling in the halls and he's won several Math awards. He likes mathematics, is good at mathematics and likes helping people learn it as well. No wonder he is always smiling he's in this element. Solid prof and choice.
He spends something like 14 hours every week in the math help center ready to help out anyone. Wish I had known about it earlier as it would have helped me tremendously. Still, that being said going there for the last couple weeks was super useful.
Really cares about his students succeeding and is available very often and is always willing to provide help. I took this course in the summer specifically because I am bad at math and ended up with the best grade of my life, this man is rad.
Amazing prof . easy to follow during lectures *step by step. focus on the last slides of the previous class when preparing for tutorials Test/ exam questions are fair.
What can I say? He's Math Jesus. He knows his stuff and can explain concepts in a way that even I, a not-so-smart person, can understand! He makes math fun and super easy to understand. He's absolutely amazing!
His notes are very clear so incase you miss a lecture, you're chilling. He has a good amount of homework practice after every lecture. His midterms are very fair (putEffortdoWell). His tutorials are a great way to study for the midterms/exam. He also posts the test/tutorial solutions, which is sick. Overall, he is a great prof who knows his stuff.
Kyle gives you so many resources to succeed. I've never seen a prof provide so much for a course. The lectures are so much fun, he keeps things lighthearted. It's easy to follow along with him. You just need to put in the work and actually use the resources he provides you.
He is an excellent professor. Loved attending this guys lectures. Love his jokes. He gives bonus marks if you point a typo in his slides. Clear explainations. Easy tests. You need to attend his lectures in order to understand. He's damn hilarious. He sometimes dismisses the class early. Puts in extra effort to make you understand.
HES THE BEST PROF!!! He takes the time to explain the material, he dismisses the class early, he gives helpful hints, and gave me alternative methods based off of my situation I was in. He even extended online assightments and offers bonus marks if we spot a typo. He has incredible humour and his tests/quizzes are solid. Found the exam fair.
Kyle's slides include the hardest problems, and he goes through them slowly in order for us to understand. The tests and exams are much easier than the slides, and therefore makes them amazing practise. The only thing you need to study are his slide questions as well as redoing the assignment questions. Final exam was a breeze.
Excellent professor. He explains each problem clearly and gives lots of tips and helpful hints about what will be on the exam. Despite the evening class, he kept the atmosphere light with lots of jokes. He too shares our pain when it comes to trig. Even if you don't like math, Kyle will make it bearable for you.
One of the best if not the best, math is not my strongest point but he's such an excellent prof that I understood everything. He explains it all very clearly, step by step, and has it all in the slides so you don't have to write down anything, just focus on the lecture. Definitely recommended
hes actually math jesus, what a gem.
Truly the best prof in the first year. His slides are very well organized and he provides additional proof for pretty much all of the theorems and formulas involved. He's also very knowledgable and so he often makes intuitive analogies that help you understand concepts better.
Unarguably the BEST math professor in Carleton in terms of explaining difficult concepts in an easy manner. His lecture videos are very helpful because he goes step-by-step and takes the time to clarify everything he does to solve a problem. The online assignments were straightforward if you watch his videos. Cracks a few good jokes in between too.
I'm horrible at math, but his lectures are so easy to comprehend, especially with online learning. The tests are very consistent with the homework provided, and he gave us exactly what lessons would/wouldn't be on the final, and the number of questions. He's the best math teacher I've ever had. Exam was a little challenging, but what exam isn't?
I'm midway through the semester and he's honestly a godsend. Remote learning is pretty tough but his recorded lectures are very concise and easy to digest, not to mention the quizzes are also super easy and the homework is manageable. I struggled a lot with calculus in high school but he makes it seem easy, truly lives up to the Math Jesus name!
Really the best class/prof I've had this year. I swore I would never take a math course I'm not required to take but he completely changed my mind, strongly considering taking it as one of my executives now. Best there is. Great examples, he covers EVERYTHING and a great guy too. Even my cat loved listening to his lectures!
I took Math1007 with no prior knowledge of advanced functions. I cried almost everyday as I felt soo overwhelmed. I reached out to Kyle and he assuaged myworries. The weekly quizzes were okay and the TAs were always available, in class and outside class. Of course you have to put in the work, having a prof like Kyle makes it worth it!!
Kyle is an amazing prof. He really cares about his students. Take him if you have the chance
Lectures are well explained and good details without being painful to watch. Assignments and quizzes are easy and you have multiple attempts per question.
The way he explains his concepts in three distinct parts (theory, strategy and multiple examples) makes learning difficult theories and abstract concepts super easy. As a fourth year comp sci student, I wish I had taken more of Kyle's classes as I might've minored in it if he taught the courses. Probably the best prof I've had in all my years.
Super straightforward with his lectures, making them very easy to comprehend. Gives you all the resources you need and explains everything super well. He is the best prof I've ever had, and he made Math so much easier to understand!
I hate calculus but somehow he made it fun. He explained things really well in his lectures. No midterm and the exam wasn't too hard. We had multiple tries on quiz questions which was great if you got an answer wrong the first time. I'd take his class again no doubt.
Prof Kyle Harvey is one of the best teacher I have ever had. His planning for the whole semester is fixed at the beginning only. All of the notes are perfect to refer for any exams and his lectures are amazingly detailed and explained in simple words. If you reach out to him with any doubts or questions, he'll get back to you with a quick response!
Professor Harvey is one of the best MATH professors at Carleton. He knows is stuff, he is hilarious, replies to email quickly, very accessible outside class. His tests, assignments, quizzes, and finals are not only easy, short but also fair. He grades stuff fairly. I would 10/10 professory Harvey for every Math course available.
It is refreshing to have a professor that prioritizes TRUE pedagogy. Professor Harvey puts the education of his students first, offering incentives for participating and engaging with the material. Moreover, his style of teaching / working through problems greatly encourages understanding of the material. Great prof, and a great person all around!
Kyle's video lectures and slides are very clear and the course is organized very well. There is no confusion about how the course is organized. Kyle is open and easy to talk with both during lectures and during office hours. I highly recommend taking MATH2107 with Kyle if you can.
Kyle is awesome. Definitely the best Calc 1 Prof at Carleton, I am so glad to have moved my timetable schedule around just to have him! His Lecture videos are excellent, he's very clear and direct, attending class isn't mandatory (he posts solutions online which you can work on/from yourself), 10/10 best Calc prof :)
best dude ever, tots recommend
The course is so organised, you actually learn everything in the course, his videos are so good, and the lectures are even better. Literally the best maths professor I've ever had.
He truly lives up to the math Jesus name. He makes the material super clear and easy to understand and his quizzes are very reasonable.
This dude is fantastic. He's just great, really helpful and friendly. Thank you for the great semester Kyle!
Quizzes are easy. If his course fits your schedule, choose him.
ISTG BEST MATH TEACHER EVER if i didn't have him i would've failed the course I suck at math but he literally sets u up for success
I took this class in winter 2022. The lectures were online but he had in person problem solving sessions, which were very helpful. He went over problems and loved teaching. He was very engaging and is generally a great person and professor. I love Kyle!! This course was one of my favourite courses! Final exam was super fair. Highly recommend Kyle!
I promise, he is the best best best prof of the campus, even the Ottawa area. Believe be
Took him in Summer 2023. He is extremely well-organized and his videos are very good and easy to understand. He is also super helpful and friendly. The quizzes and final were fair and there's no strings attached. If you can take him, there is no reason not to.
This teacher was great and made the class hard to fail.
He is a wonderful and caring prof! His flipped lecture style was nice too (as long as you stay on track!) The grading was pretty balanced between the assignments, the quiz and the final. Would recommend!
You watch online lectures then do questions in class where you can ask him for help. He's really nice and helpful. He sets you up for success. He gives enough practice for topics with homework and practice problems - and quizzes are very similar to these. You don't even need to go to class - just watch lectures and do questions. He's my fav
Very nice person and very helpful. He was very good at explaining concepts that I had some trouble with.
Probably top 3 easiest classes ive ever taken in my life
One of the best professors I have ever had, his lectures were super interesting!
Honestly, the best professor in Math courses. He gives Great exercise. Although each quiz a week might seems much BUT its really really helpful for you to get good great in the course PLUS there class is fliped style. So many chances to practice. Definitely take it again and recommend everyone take his course. Trust me for it.
Take a class with Kyle Harvey if possible. One of the best professors I ever had in this university.
just a great guy
Kyle is the GOAT
Really great professor. His lectures are split up into several recordings, which makes them easier to get through. Quizzes and homework are pretty easy (way easier than the problem sets), and the final was a similar difficulty. His explanations are clear and the slides are super helpful.
Whenever given the option, always take the course with Professor Harvey.
Harvey is an awesome prof definitely, lectures are engaging, answers all the questions, very nice to you all the time. But his 2107 takes more of your time. In other math classes it's 4 tests + final. Here it is 9 tests + 2 homework sets weekly (1-2 hours per set) and a final. Great prof, but you might do much more work than with contractor profs
Lectures are short and engaging. Is very clear about expectations and grading criteria. 10 quizzes (4 questions) and 24 assignments (4 questions, unlimited tries) and then a final exam. Questions were straightforward and not meant to trick you. Goated math prof. Is also responsive to emails.
My glorious king 👑
Insanely amazing professor. Good at teaching and makes it clear for how to do well.
this guy is goated
Kyle Harvey is very clear in his lecture explanations. The lectures are split up into short and straight forward videos that are easily understandable. He has a clear understanding of the things he teaches and he explains them so you understand and not just memorize concepts. TAKE HIS CLASS!
