Had him for Bio 2 last summer and can't believe this is his first rating. Great teacher! Young and very passionate about biology. There is a lot of material and you will have to study to get an A, but he helps the whole way. He calls on people to answer questions, but does not make you feel dumb if you don't know the answer.

Had him for the lab section of microbiology. Helpful and clear. Labs almost always let out early and he is funny so even when you are there the whole time it does not really seem like it. Lab saved my grade in the course.

Took him in the summer for principles of biology 2. He has fun with the class, but you learn a ton of stuff. He also likes to call on people and have class discussions. You will almost never sit there and just listen to him talk. As he would state it "Get ready to have your mind blown" lol

Hurley understands that not everyone is a biology major. He takes very broad subjects and explains them without getting too into details which is great for the gen ed course. His tests aren't that bad as long as you read the chapters and study. He does help along the way and takes things into consideration.

Awesome professor! Be prepared to work but hes always available to help. Really helped prepare me for my next bio course. I sailed past that class because of this one. He's a cutie to!!

I honestly loved Hurley. I hate bio and he understands most people don't like bio as much as he does. He tries to make sure everyone understands and likes to call on students to answer questions but will never make you feel dumb if you don't know the answer. Mr. Hurley is a great teacher. He is there for you when you need him. The tests are fairly easy you just have to study and read like any other class. He gives some subjective questions on his tests that you will not miss.

The content isn't that hard and he tries to make sure everyone understands before moving on. There is usually a quiz at the beginning of each class over the last lecture. There are a few major assignments, tests, and quizzes that you are graded over. The tests aren't too bad.

Hurley gives quizzes almost daily that really help prepare you for the test, although there are not many tests if you study for them you should be just fine. The homework on Mastering Biology can be challenging but is just graded for participation. The labs are not laid out by him but they are the hardest part of this class.

Hurley is an awesome teacher!! He's like a big kid, super excited about everything. the course is fine if you pay attention. There are quizzes almost everyday but some are repeated on the test. You have homework on Mastering Earth Science that is kind of difficult but is only participation. The labs are super fun and Hurley does a good job!

Hurley is the best professor to take for BIOL1441. Our class test scores were consistently higher than the other professors classes. He gives test questions in the form of open book 5 point quizzes in lecture. He uses diction you can understand. Online homework is a completion grade. Highly recommend.

Mr. Hurley was one of the most awesome professors I've had. I took him for Summer 1 and he made sitting in lecture and lab for hours actually enjoyable. Professor Hurley is an amazing professor for Biology 1441. Show up and take notes and you'll do fine on the test. Actually study and you can ace all the test. I would definitely take him if you want to have fun and learn Biology.

I took him for the spring semester and liked his class. He loves a discussion-based atmosphere and will randomly call on people to answer questions. He goes quickly through the powerpoints because of so much to cover in the course. His tests weren't too hard. We typically had a quiz before class based off the material covered the lecture before.

There was a lot of extra credit available as well. My only complaint about the class were the lab instructors. The course content was not too difficult, a lot of memorizing.

Hurley is a good professor who knows his material. He uses cheesy humor to lighten up the class. If you fail his courses it is usually your own fault for not putting in the effort. He does a decent job and is fair with grading and giving tests.

Hurley is a rockstar! His class isn't easy but he makes it worth while. This guy LOVES Biology and makes you love it just as much. Lectures are fun and he strives to engage all of his students. Don't expect anymore than a C if you aren't putting in 100% of your effort.

Mr. Hurley is a great professor. He is caring and helps you in any way that you need it. He's not the best at grading things fast or responding to emails fast but you can always drop by his office unannounced and he will drop what he is dong to help. Daily in class online quizzes. Drops lowest test. Work for it and you will do fine.

Professor Hurley is a really cool teacher! He doesnt require attendance, BUT you need to show up because there are quizzes at the beginning of lecture, and he gives points out in class. You do dynamic study modules online, theyre super easy. You have very little homework. Biggest grade is obviously the exams. Just study and youll do great!

Don't slack a day in this class. Took him during 2017 Fall semester and you WILL fail if you don't spend AT LEAST 6 hours a week studying. The classes are by no means easy and he has a tendency to skip over things and not really discuss them, but he is awesome if you need to talk to him about it. A really great professor, prepped me for nursing.

Not sure why someone posted that Mr. Hurley does not stay on topic but he never trails off! In fact he makes it a point to tie lectures to real life! I love it. Hes an amazing lecturer with a lot of great feedback. Always available to help.

I loved class, he doesnt require attend. but warns at the start that it is hard to pass if you dont come. He is always ready to help, slow through email. He gives study guides, reviews, and bonus. He is goofy, funny. My class at 8 so lots skipped, resulted in poor grades with sour classmates. You must study, but do you want a nurse that didnt?

Professor Hurley is a awesome teacher, I took him for Microbiology during summer session 1. His lectures are very good and if you study for the test then you will do fine the lab, homework, ans quizzes were all easy. I highly recommend for anyone who has to take Microbiology.

Mr. Hurley is the best professor I have had at UCA so far. I took him for A&P 1 and for microbiology summer 1 2018. The class is a lot of information put into 5 weeks but Mr. Hurley is the best and will do whatever it takes to help. Tests were pretty challenging, however lab was easy and the online assignments were easy. I definitely recommend.

Prof. Hurley tells you to call him Kyle and is very open/approachable, at times I felt like I was being taught by a friend instead of an abstract figure detached from his students. He was very enthusiastic/passionate, it is contagious. He loves to talk with the class during lecture so if you like to hide in the back he may not be the best for you.

TAKE THIS CLASS. Kyle is a great professor. Hes like a little energizer bunny. He will do practically anything to help you understand the material. He does reviews for most exams. He is very hands on. He doesnt use the textbook, but you will need the access code that comes with the textbook to access the online assignments and quizzes.

Tells u when quizzes are. Very lecture heavy so show up and pay attention and u should do well. Its simple material, just a lot. Hes a fun prof that cares but doesnt seem to be open to opposing viewpoints on things like creation/evolution so thats annoying but he's willing 2 help. Labs are very annoying but I didnt have hurley for my instructor

I took him for A&P 1 and loved him! He lectures the whole class, so make sure you take very good notes. He also sends you the power points from class and outlines to study from as well. The test are not difficult if you take the time to study. Do the homework, bonus, and STUDY... and you will have a good grade! Lab was also fun and easy as well.

Mr. Hurley is a very lively teacher in class, making it fun to learn in. He provides the PowerPoint lectures for you ahead of time and I recommend reading the textbook before class. Tests are challenging so study in advance because of the large amount of material covered (drops 1 test). Attendance is mandatory and he sometimes gives out bonus!

This guy is great. Lectures were fun and engaging. The only complaint I could give is that his lecture slides don't have a ton of information on them, so if you're looking at them later to study you might not really get what's going on. This isn't too bad though since he uploads a study guide with the material that will be on the test.

He's a great professor. I took him for Anatomy 1. He really tries and cares. It's possible to receive an A in the course without the textbook. You must buy the access code (it is cheaper if you buy it from its original website) Remember to ALWAYS come to class, take good notes, and STUDY in order to receive an A. I loved him and you will too.

I took Hurley for A&P and he is so funny. The only downfall was the class size, very big!! He is willing to help you outside of class. Tests very hard make sure you know how to take notes well. Overall I would take the class again.

Hurley is an amazing teacher and just finished up my A&P 1 with him. This class is tough, the nature of the class is tough though. It was my hardest class I have taken so far, tons of memorization and can get confusing. Careful to do well on tests there are 4, plenty of other assignments but tests are where the big bucks are. But he's super chill, real, approachable. will try his hardest to help you understand, welcomes questions. loves to match his one earring w his outfits. He doesn't want you to memorize stuff that won't be on his tests. very straightforward. What he says is what will be on the test. so ask questions!

Kyle is fantastic. I wish I could take him for more classes. He almost makes me want to take more bio classes (almost). He makes class fun and micro a joy to learn. I've never enjoyed a science class like I have his. He is a great teacher and one the best UCA has. Take this man!

Tests can be worded tricky, but aren't too bad. Go to his office for help; he will help you learn to study! Take his lab section if you can, not the TA's. Solid choice for Bio 2.

I took him for A&P1 over a summer session and he made it a really really great class. made my first summer class bearable. you will have to work for a good grade in this class but it's totally worth it. practicals are straight forward and gives study guides for exams! will take him again if i get the chance!

Amazing professor! Prof. Hurley is what I want from all of my professors. He makes an effort to make sure that everyone understands the material so they can pass. 4 tests and final, questions come straight from lecture with study guide, few quizzes, lots of hw but idrk since this was a 5 week class. Hurley is a really nice guy and his giddiness and passion for the material make it super enjoyable and exciting to learn. My only complaint is his wording on test questions. They can be pretty confusing at times but overall it wasn't detrimental to my grade. I would take him for other classes if given the opportunity.

Hurley is one of the best teachers I have ever had. He wants students to succeed so badly that he will even meet for tutoring on Saturdays and Sundays. If you have a question, don't hesitate to ask because he won't belittle you for asking questions that have already been asked. Reach out for tutoring because he really just wants you to succeed.

Professor Hurley is an amazing teacher. He is the best teacher I have had at UCA and he made Microbiology very understandable and easy to grasp. He wants you to succeed. Providing a study guide and really emphasizing what we need to know helps you succeed in the class tremendously. I recommend him to anyone I know taking a biology course.

The class isn't hard. His slides don't have much information on them but he covers the information in class and the lectures are recorded. I did find some of the exams pretty tough but that could just be my studying methods. He is willing to meet with you outside of class to cover exams and why you missed each question. A very helpful and nice guy.

One of my absolute favorite teachers and a great A&P teacher. I had him for A&P 1 and 2, and he was great for both. Very friendly and talkative, but also very simple. Always has study guides for his tests but you can't use notes. The content can be hard if you didn't take A&P in high school or somewhere else. No a lot of homework though!

I had prof H for A&P(summer) and it was my favorite course so far. He is excited about teaching and moves around interacting with students. He gave 5 exams(dropped lowest) and two lab practicals. He seemed to genuinely care about my success. He even created a public youtube channel, google "Purple bear biology" to watch and take him if you can!

He's great. He's excited about teaching and science and it shows. The lectures weren't too long which made it easier for me to focus. Tests are based on study guides. He gives lots of bonus opportunities. Take advantage of them. Overall, the class is not hard; just don't procrastinate, study the study guides, don't skip, and you'll be fine!

He reviews every previous lecture before we start with the new lecture. He is very energetic. He is absolutely always willing to help so ask all the dumb questions you have until you understand. Hes the best professor Ive had at UCA so far. Please take any of his classes!

Mr. Hurley was an amazing teacher to have for Anatomy 1. His classes are mostly lectures but he makes them fun and entertaining. You definitely need to be prepared for exams and labs. They can be difficult if you are not.

Attend lectures and study 5 hours before the test and you will get an A. Do not buy the textbook. Quizzes that you can use notes on and have two attempts. Somedays will have 4/5 pre-lecture homework but can be done without the textbook by watching his older youtube videos. Attendance was not mandatory this semester. Very caring professor.

Professor Hurley was great in Bio 2, in my opinion, he's one of the best professors at the university. As long as you study and attend lectures/labs you will do just fine.

I absolutely loved having professor Hurley. Honestly, if you attend lectures there's no reason to buy the textbook. You do need to buy the lab manual though. I recommend scheduling one-on-one meetings with him to review the material once a week. He is straightforward and most of the test questions come from his module quizzes. Such a caring dude!!!

I would highly recommend professor Hurley for Anatomy and Physiology. I would not say he tries to make the class difficult, but the content is challenging (its a science so understandably). He does do lots of homework (about six assignments per a week. I think this is good as it helps boost your points so your grade can go up. He is also reachable.

I refuse to take anyone else for a BIO course. Amazing grading style, person, also gave extra credit. Be prepared to study for the grade that you want because it can be difficult information but overall great course. The library also has materials to help study for bone practical. So many possible points in the class.

Hurley is a very good professor and he also has bonus point opportunities. Test aren't very hard and he gives small content checks on notes. Also, if you are ever struggling he will meet with you and help you learn better ways to study or take notes.

I definitely would recommend taking him for A&P I in the Fall and then taking him for A&P II in the Spring. He wants you to pass and he makes the topics in class enjoyable. I have never really understood biology, but he completely shaped my understanding and now I am able to teach it to my friends and family when I have never wanted to do that for any science class. Kyle Hurley is one of the best teachers I've had. He genuinely wants you to succeed and will work with you if you schedule a meeting. Pay close attention, as concepts appear on quizzes and tests. Tests are taken in class on lockdown, quizzes outside on lockdown with a webcam. Homework is minimal, just pre-lectures, and labs require a lab manual.

Don't buy the textbook, you will need lab book. Professor Hurley made himself available for one on one discussion to review individual test/quiz results. He truly cares for his students and is very enthusiastic about what he is teaching. I also appreciate all the extra course material provided to us.

He is no doubt the best professor I ever had- I have never adored a prof/teacher so much. He really is one of one. He is diversity friendly, a phenomenal lecturer, and very understanding. I feel more prepared for medical school from just one of his courses. I highly recommend taking his as a professor, it will be an investment into your future!

Professor Hurley is the best teacher I have ever had. He creates resources to help his students study, provided extra credit, and truly cares about the students success. He met with me weekly outside of normal office hours because I work to help me study and his advice and reviews helped me improve my grade from a D to a B!

He is a great professor, but the class is hard. Do not expect to just go to class and do well, you will have to study. I didn't know how to do that, but Mr. Hurley helped me learn. He never criticized or judged me for what I didn't know or understand. He is very strict about exam due dates and cheating.
