Professor Smith was a true gem. He will set you up for success in all assignments. If you need to take INRW, def take it it with him. Trust me you wont regret it. I took him during the summer and I wish I could take his class again. The best Professor ever.
Returning student after a 7 year gap. Had to take INRW per the required curriculum and signed up blind for this class. Undoubtedly the greatest teacher I have ever had. Assignments were clear and to the point, and the same goes for tests. Not all professors are created equal, and as an intro college course he set the bar. Loved this class.
Super easy grader, everything almost feels like a completion grade. Just do as he asks, and hell give you a 100, he isnt super picky. Some assignments were tedious, but he is super understanding and will give more time if you need it. Lectures can be a bit monotone, but overall super sweet professor!
Mr. Smith is a great guy but this class was not up to college standards. He tries to be everybody's friend but way to easy.
You should jump on the opportunity to join a class taught by Prof. Smith such a great teacher. He taught our history 1301 class with a focus on African-American and Native American History. He uses videos, lectures (with open discussion encouraged), and open notes for tests and quizzes. 100000% recommend him!
Professor Smith is HANDS DOWN the BEST professor I've EVER taken at ACC. His lectures will make you feel so passionate about History. He is understanding, compassionate, and really is just an all around outstanding Professor. There really arent enough words to describe how much I enjoyed his class. You have to put in work for sure, but its worth it
Prof. Smith knows how to teach History. He has opened my eyes and mind to a world filled with books and knowledge and makes me excited to learn. His extensive knowledge and enthusiastic spirit are infused in his teaching and make the class a pleasure to attend. He is the best teacher I have had!! His syllabus is extremely organized as well.
He is literally the best professor I've had yet. Hes so chill, goes over everything in class, hes very good with telling us what to write down and take notes on. He's very relatable, but me and my friends had the best time in his class. He grades pretty easy and gives good feedback, literally just pay attention in class and youll pass.
Professor Smith is a rockstar learned so much in his class. Its an easy A for sure if you put in the work. You really have to work hard to fail.
This class was extremely easy. All exams were open note, not timed, not proctored. And other than the super easy exams, we had to turn in weekly summaries about what we had read in the textbook and that was it. I liked this class, and Professor Smith was super sweet.
Professor Smith is likely the best teacher I have ever had. It was clear that he truly cared about our success as students and as people in general. Even though the weekly assignments and essay exams could be a bit much for someone with a lot on their plate, he was very kind when it came to grading. I would definitely recommend this class!
An easy class, great way to boost morale when starting college! Graded very leniently though there were weekly papers. Willing to discuss any potential issues and distributed extra credit for papers he enjoyed. There was a textbook but the class was passable on lectures only. The lectures added extra depth to learning not found in the textbook.
Professor Smith is AMAZING. His class is pretty easy. There is weekly homework that can be done very easily if you attend class. I rarely had to use the textbook because he goes over everything in class and his lectures are amazing. He is also very caring and understanding. Would take his class again in a heartbeat couldn't recommend him more.
Pay attention to the lectures and make sure you already have an idea of what is going to be taught in the class. He was very flexible and will work around your schedule when it comes to taking tests or assigning assignments. Make sure you have the textbook!
Professor smith is amazing, his lectures are interesting and he tells history as it is. Theres a summary do every week but theyre super easy and test are open ended but he isnt a hard grader. Easy A.
Really relaxed professor, however is fairly disorganized and has forgot to post the correct link to a video for an assignment until 2 days before the assignment was due. He responds to emails really quickly throughout the day and night. He is extremely understanding and gives two extensions on any assignment as long as you email him ahead of time.
Very nice person but the class was not up to college standards. In fact it was a real joke. Endless extra credit. Not really organized. Went off on different topics. EVerybody gets high grades. Way to easy.
Great professor! Very helpful with answering questions and helping others brainstorm. Please pay attention to the lectures as everything he mentions will most likely appear in a test! Memorizing dates will produce a higher grade, participation helps, ASK QUESTIONS.
This professor was pretty easy but required a paper written every week about the chapter(s) assigned to read. 400 words, 5 vocabulary words, 10 sentences with the vocabulary words, and 3 "insightful" sentences about the chapter. He gave extra credit often and was responsive with emails. Not hard; just tedious. Easy A.
great professor i loved him
Great Professor, took him over the summer. Lots of info for such a short course but very manageable. He's open to feedback and very reasonable. I plan to take his 1302 class this spring.
Take him, it's an easy 'A'. First, "Read" a chapter aka skim, write a summary on it, pick vocab words, write sentences and then ask 3 questions. That's literally it. Does require a text book, though--so DM on the gram, i'll help you out. john_w_creasey. Best of luck in all your studies this upcoming semester, too! Remember to be easy on yourself.
He is the best professor you can ever have!!!!
Prof. Smith is just the best!! He is a great lecturer, and makes everything so interesting. Just listen to his lectures and you'll do great. He isn't too hard of a grader and makes his expectations clear. Some reading is required but its totally manageable. Wants you to participate and makes the conversation so interesting. 10/10 prof!!!
Probably one of the most amazing professors I've ever had. He had such good lectures and discussions and it's even more interesting if you participate. He says you need to buy a textbook, but I honestly didn't ever use it because his lectures are that good! Got a 100 in the class!
Professor Smith is the best professor I had at ACC. You need to submit summaries at every two weeks (super easy) and 2 quizzes throughout the semester. Extremely caring. Easy A as long as you submit your work and follow the grading criteria. quizzes are open ended and open textbook, not timed. YOU WON'T REGRET taking him I promise!
This was my second time taking Professor Kyle for History and I enjoyed it so much. He really teaches history beyond the surface level and makes you think about the impacts of events. It was very light homework, just chapter summaries every 2 weeks and then one quiz which is the midterm and the final. Professor Kyle makes it difficult to fail.
Take his class! He is amazing, gives great lectures, encourages class discussions, and great listener. Fair on grading and works with you on deadlines. Class does require writing but was not an issue for me. Never saw a professor get so many hugs when class was over. Says a lot about him. He is a great guy and teacher. So glad he is at ACC!
OH MY GOD TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! He is absolutely incredible. He is one of the most kind people I have ever met, and he genuinely wants his students to succeed. I felt horrible asking for an extension so last minute, but he made me feel so relieved when he said, "Life happens, don't worry about it." I would take his class a thousand times again.
The homework is very easy. It is 2 chapter summaries that are due every 2 weeks. The requirements per chapter are a min of 300 words summarizing the chapter, 5 vocab words, and 2 sentences using that word. There are only 2 extremely easy exams. All his exams are open book. Not attending class does not affect the grade. Overall Amazing Professor!
Just. Take. This. Professor.
Just take it!
Professor Smith is an extraordinary teacher. You will learn a lot from him. He is unequivocal and concise throughout the lecture. You will get an A if he knows you understand the material. He is a professor that you will remember throughout your academic career!
Took over the summer, a very fast quick class. Open-ended essays for all assignments.
You will not regret taking this professor!! Take him!!! Wish I took his HIST 1301 course!!
The class consists of bi-weekly chapter summaries + vocab/insightful questions, and then 2 tests. Very easy to stay on top of work and also score well. He doesn't grade too harshly as long as you try, and would happily work with you. I would definitely take his class again!
Lectures are amazing and informative, which makes the class fly by. Attending class will be where you learn and get the most help for the assignments and tests. There was a focus on Native American and African American history, which allowed for a much deeper understanding of U.S. history. No need to worry about remembering a lot of dates.
He. Is. AWESOME! I learned so much in this class and I'm def returning for History 2. Professor Smith has productive lectures and easy tests. Assignments are a bit of a handful but not bad if you take good notes during class! Both tests were open note and did not struggle with either. He is so nice and open minded and humble.
Genuinely one of the best professors I have ever taken. The online course has a 2 chapter textbook assignment due every 2 weeks, which is more than enough time, then two tests (midterm & final). He is super accommodating if you are working regarding time, but you won't need it as he gives you so much time for assignments. Super nice and inspiring!
Professor Smith was Amazing throughout the entire semester. Despite it being an online class he was understanding, attentive, and considerate. If the opportunity comes, I will definitely take him again and if you are researching professors I highly recommend him.
Professor Smith was so kind and helpful all throughout the semester. The class consists of reading a chapter per week. Just choose this professor ;)
Easy class, great professor but I have two issues with this class. First is that he doesn't unlock the whole course even though it is an online class. So you have to wait till he unlocks the assignments. Second is with the book that is used for the class. I'm a history buff and excited for this class but the book is poorly written and skips around.
Take this class if you want to see the beauty of asynchronous class. Great Professor, learned so many things about US history. I was unable to attend the exam in the given time, I informed him, he easily set up another time for me. Quick response to emails. I have also learned humanity. He is a real GEM
Very kind and understanding. He was very fair, the class was half lecture and half class discussion most of the time and it really drew you in. I think it is hard to fail, good environment, and he made himself very available.
Take this class. You won't regret it. I dislike history the way many people dislike math. It took the 5-week summer course. Chapter summaries with a few vocab words and sentences for HW and 2 tests (open note). I really appreciated his teaching style, prompt responses, and feedback. Highly recommend!!!!
Professor Smith is by far one of the best professors I have ever had. He is kind & passionate about his subject field & it shows! His lectures are detailed/ warm/ inviting definitely, an open forum-style environment to talk about all relevant subject issues! Easy grader, clear test criteria. If you love history, you won't regret taking this class!
The best professor I've ever had was Professor Smith. excellent teacher. I enrolled in his five-week asynchronous course. Undoubtedly one of the easiest classes ever. He is extremely patient and kind, and he makes sure you understand the subject. The test and assignments are pretty simple, and he responds to emails very quickly. 100% RECOMMENDED!!
I took Professor Smith's summer online class, and it went by quickly. He is very kind and enthusiastic; I almost wish I could have taken the course in person! The workload is very manageable, exams are open-book, he gives great feedback, and is very passionate about the material.
Take this class. You will NOT regret it. He's amazing!!!!
Professor Smith made this course so easy. This course has no lectures, so if you are a lecture person, you may not like the structure. This class has 2 chapter summaries due bi-weekly with two tests in a semester. Just be ready to read. Tests are open book. Professor Smith is very responsive to emails and is very welcoming. Highly recommend!
The class consisted of bi-weekly summary essays for two chapters. You do have to purchase the book. there was two test, the first was an essay and he gives 4 prompts, and you have to answer two. The grading criteria was very clear, and a chance to edit and resubmit your essay if you miss something. I highly recommend this professor.
Mr. Smith is a great teacher.
This review is for HIST-2381. The course is a hybrid, one day in person and one day online. It does require a bit of reading, but everything is clearly defined in terms of grading criteria. Professor Smith is fantastic and very responsive. Highly recommend! I will take another course w/ him next semester.
Unbiased manner of teaching history, although some emphasis on Native and African American histories. Very straightforward chapter summaries biweekly and tests are short essay based. Book is online, but not free ($60, I think). If you miss lectures, be prepared to read a lot on your own. One of the best, professional hist. teachers I've ever had.
Prof Smith was very inspirational to me!! in fact i signed up to take a 5 week summer course with him. I was nervous for my papers but he gave clear feedback!! he is very caring and honestly your number one hype man. he believes in his students and got me pumped to take his class again because he truly thinks i can succeed! TAKE HIM!!
Took Professor Smith's HIST 1301 class in the Fall. He is an amazing professor who gives good feedback and is very understanding and caring. His assignments are pretty straightforward and easy as well. There's just chapter summaries due every two weeks as well as an exam every now and then. Highly recommend!!
I took the African-American II class. There are only two tests which are either in person or take home. The tests are exclusively essay format. Every two/three chapters, students have to submit a 900 word chapter review. The review must also include definitions of ten vocab word and six thought provoking questions. Required to buy a textbook.
This is a great option for online history. Your grade is just chapter summaries from the textbook and 2 take home tests. He's very kind and understanding, and I've turned some of the chapter summaries in a day late and he didn't take many points off. They're time consuming but much easier than remembering everything for a test. I recommend.
Professor Smith was wonderful! His version of this course is straightforward and easy to follow, and not too difficult or time consuming. I do wish that the course material was organized a little better though, as everything is posted under Announcements, which can be hard to follow. Otherwise, wonderful professor and highly recommend!
I've taken Prof. Smith for US History 1 and 2. and loved both classes! There's chapter summaries every other week, and they're easy to do as long as you take notes from class and read the textbook. There's a midterm and a final paper and they're usually take home. He's super sweet so don't be afraid to go ask him a question or talk to him!
Class is super easy and straightforward. Tests are straight from textbook and videos sent by the professor. He is very nice and will help you if you ever need any help and he gives good feedback on all tests. Great class!
I regret not having taken US History I with Professor Smith last semester! Anyway, I took US History II with him over this past second five-week summer session, and overall, I enjoyed his class a lot. Our only graded assignments were five weekly tests, each consisting of three or four chapters to read. He also gives us good feedback on all of them.
I was transferred into his class late due to taking the wrong class, the whole time he was very caring and made accomodations so I could catch up. His class consists of 5 tests each week, 33 True/False questions each. The material was simple and very easy to comprehend. Overall, he is a really pleasant guy. If you need credit, TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!
One of the best professor and the tests are 33 questions which consists of 4 exams and they are basically true/false questions. The answers also follow a pattern. RECOMMENDED!!
I enjoyed taking this class with Professor Smith. He showed genuine interest in his students and wanted us to succeed. To do well in the course, you need to read the assigned materials, watch the videos, and attend class. If you study, you will be fine. We covered topics such as Native Americans and Black History, which were truly eye-opening.
I hate history, but Kyle made me LOVE it! The class is discussion-based from videos and notes! There are 4 tests, all true/false questions, and they are easy! Kyle is caring, and he makes the class worth your time! I am taking him for History 1302 next semester because he's AMAZING and FUN!
Professor Smith's asynchronous class isn't bad. The only problem is that there are only four grades the entire year which makes it really hard to know if you are taking in the course material. While this system may seem easy, it feels very annoying when some questions on the tests are worded so that there could be multiple answers.
Prof Smith is so passionate about history and it shows! His lectures can be interesting but some classes we just watch youtube videos the whole class. This is technically an in person class but Id consider it more hybrid because he sends 10-15 youtube videos per unit to watch along with the textbook readings and you wont pass the test without them.
I am so excited that I had this teacher. He was an amazing professor and I enjoyed taking his class. His lectures were very interesting and I enjoyed them so much he is so caring and his class is very fun and his tests are True/False with 33 questions each and you only do 4 units. If you need to take history take him and plan it early.
Professor Smith is great! His lectures are engaging and he expects you to participate in discussion. Unfortunately, he had to switch to true/false tests because of the department, but he tries his best to ensure everyone is prepared. The 4 tests are your entire grade, so make sure you know the material and come to class.
I loved taking US History 1 online with Professor Smith, especially after I took an in-person class at the Hays Campus for US History 1 that I had to withdraw for being way too time consuming. If you have trouble with testing and tend to flunk exams then take this class online, trust me.
Easiest professor and course I have ever had- I took this course in the summer and it was graded with five tests over the textbook chapters (33 questions true/false). He always responded super fast whenever emailed, and overall was a super chill guy. If you're thinking about this class, please take it, you really won't regret it.
Great prof, I'm taking him again! Participation encouraged as lectures are more of a discussion, try to watch videos he sends so you can participate, but it's fine to sit back and take notes. Tests are easy, questions are pulled from notes/videos, some questions can be hard to interpret but he's mostly understanding if you point out an issue. 9/10
As I'm concluding the end of my spring semester 2025 this professor is probably one of the best instructors at ACC. The thing is, his class is simple and smooth and i actually learned more about U.S history then in my AP U.S history class in high school. It's discussion base no heavy lectures really really interesting class discussions.
THE BEST PROFESSOR EVERRR HE'S MY #1 fr. The sweetest man ever and easy course with only 4 true or false tests which I didn't even buy the textbook for as he sends videos from the chapter that sum up everything and can use for the tests. Super easy, would study the night before and get a good grade.
One of the sweetest person you will ever meet. He is super engaging and wants the class to participate. He made me excited about history. Tests are true/false, as long as you take good notes and watch the videos he sends every week you will be good.
Amazing lectures, very discussion based. I had 4 other classes besides this one and it was by far the easiest. If you just show up to lectures and write down what he puts on the whiteboard - you don't even have to necessarily watch all the videos he sends - you'll do great. Easy tests, makes history very interesting. I will take him for HIST-1302!
Prof. Smith is a gentleman & an eloquent speaker. Lectures with whiteboard notes based on student answers. 16 chapters, 4 tests (33 T/F questions). SIT IN THE FRONT—his handwriting is hard to read at times; notes may use inconsistent formatting. “The History Department does not authorize ‘extra credit' or ‘do-over' work in any courses.”(Syllabus).
I took 1301 and 1302 because I LOVED Professor Smith. I used to hate History and he's shown me such a different perspective that I wish I could take these classes for the first time again. He's very passionate about what he teaches and immerses his students in thoughtful, productive and enlightening discussions. Take notes and study, you can pass!
His lectures are very interesting and I loved how he focused on Native American history as well to get the whole picture of US history.
Kyle Smith is by far the best professor ever! His grading is just tests but does not require a lockdown browser, and is easy to learn in just 5 weeks. I highly respect his care towards his students' success in his courses. He puts in so much effort to find videos for students to watch before tests to better learn and understand the material.
I learned a ton in this class and loved the content---but basically paid for a curated Youtube list. It was an online class, so I get it---but zero "teaching" from him. Wished he had recorded some lectures. Tests were only 33 T/F, and weren't a fair reflection of what we learned. "Gotcha" questions, nit-picky stuff. Got an A but missed opportunity.
Honestly just do the work and youll do fine
If you can manage to snag him for online, take him. It's literally 5 test that are T/F and 33 questions. Open book. 1 hour. It's like winning the lotto.
EASIEST history course I have taken so far. Took this in a short 4-week Fall course, and it was only a test but super easy.
Professor Smith is a really kind, knowledgeable professor and is always happy to help students understand the material. Your entire grade is based on four true/false exams. Study using the textbook and the weekly videos he provides and you'll do great. Exams aren't timed and no lockdown browser is used. One of my favorite professors at ACC!
Took his asynchronous US History 2 course. Only graded on four exams, but they are very easy and all questions are true or false. No lectures, just read the assigned textbook chapters and watch the supplemental videos he sends out. I paid for the Pearson online textbook. Couldn't find it for free. Pretty easy course if you just need the credits.
