He's really hot and fun to look at during class. He's an awesome prof and is one of my favorites.
Not that hot, but a really good teacher. Class is kinda hard, but you learn a lot.

Honestly one of the best teachers I have ever had. He is so funny and cool. He explains things really well with examples. To do well YOU HAVE TO GO TO LECTURE AND STUDY THE STUDY GUIDE.
He's very challenging, but if you have any questions just go to him and he'll help you out!
He's a good teacher...
Kyle is hot, interesting, and a good teacher, despite the fact that he's hard.
Better looking than most profs, COMM 101 is so easy, he has really good life examples and is very easy to pay attention to.
Pretty hard classes but if you go into see Kyle he will help you out...hes not hot hes pretty nerdy
Kyle Tusing is the man. Not only does he play the jams before class, but he rocks out with chuck taylors and sambas from time to time. And he is not afraid to call out snobby/obnoxious sorority ****es during class. Rock on Kyle Tusing, rock on!

Very good at what he does...helps to keep the class involved, makes the time fly by with a fun filled lecture-makes it easy to understand by relating the topics to real life...its just bonus hes good to look at with his cute but unique style...

Kyle is a really good teacher. He is a communication instructor, so obviously he can teach very well because he knows how to convey an effective message. He always draws from real life examples and he says funny things where they are revelant. He said our generation was going to look back and tell our kids we had good music, we are going to say to them, "What trash is this you listen to? We had good music, like 50 Cent." LOL. Take this class it's great.
Tusings is an idiot. He trys to be funny, but he's just stupid. Don't know why people like him so much? Jesse Fox is a better Comm 101 teacher, get her not Kyle Tusing.
Kyle is an excellent teacher. He teaches very well and is funny! He gets his point across and this is a fun class to be in. Hes not afraid to embarrass people in his class if you act stupid. His homeworks are a lot of work but he gives more then a week to do them. i loved this class and recommened it to anyone!
Interesting class. Homework and tests were more difficult than usual. Study way ahead of time for a better grade. You get more than a week to do the assignments so go to TA office hours for help. Kyle is a good professor, very helpful and has funny anectdotes. Also has good taste in music.
When a prof posts a "review" and it's line by line every item covered in the class--it's not a "study guide" It's laziness... Homework is graded on a mysterious scale without any actual feedback. Kyle's great, funny too but the class is one of the worst I've EVER had. The comm dept. as a whole is arrogant, and not overly intelligent... GO GREEK!!
Great teacher- one of my favorites. He makes class material (which is pretty boring) somewhat interesting and his dry humor and sarcasm is awesome. By the end of the semester you'll love him
Kyle is a fantastic teacher. Forget the below comment that he's an idiot, he's NOT. He explains theories exceptionally well, and those who diligently attend class and take notes are rewarded by actually understanding what's on the study guide. He ALWAYS tries to find a way to make sure a concept makes sense and his humorous. LOVED HIM!
Kyle is honestly the best teacher ever!!!!! He explains things so well and the topics are interesting!!!!! He is absolutely hilarious as well!!!! Makes the class fun!!!! TAKE THIS CLASSSSS!
He is a cool professor. If you take this class just be sure to go to class and take notes, you will definentaly pass with a decent grade.
Best teacher ever. Funny, explains things so that you understand, makes class enjoyable. Not bearable- enjoyable. I wish he tought everything. Funny, plays music, cute, all around great guy. Highly recommend. Brilliant.
Amazing teacher. Keeps you interested, makes sure you understand, great use of examples, media, visuals. Very helpful and polite. Plays music when you are entering class, makes it fun. Take good notes, and study as he says to study and you'll do fine. Write detailed on the hw assignments. Great teacher!
Great prof! Very helpful during office hours.
Professional and effective. Need 50 more of him in this department.
boring boring class. i went to class everyday and he never held my attention. would be more helpful if the 'special' lady in my class ever shut up. he only praised her idiotic remarks.
amazinggg professor! take all of his classes! the department DEFINITELY needs more of him!!
Kyle is a really good professor! He is extremely helpful and if you need help is more than willing to help you understand the material! One of the best professors I have had at the University!
Very good teacher. Makes things really clear. Assignments are graded kind of hard but go to office hours and the TA will help a lot. Need to really study hard for tests too.
overall, he is a good teacher. he explains things well and keeps you interested. he is not afraid to state his opinion about anything so class is always surprising. the ta sucked, do not go to her, go to kyle for help. the ta is incompetent and ignorant.
Overall, class is about average. Tests are based primarily on class notes, but he does pull material from the book, which is clearly outlined on study guides. In my opinion, the homework is graded on the tough side for a 101 class, but he does do a semi-curve at the end. Overall, go to class or buy lots of points on Notehall and you'll be fine.
This was one of my favorite classes!! No projects or quizzes, just 5 long paper assignments and 3 exams. The assignments took a long time, but if you go in to the TA during office hours you she will tell you everything you need to do to get an A. Tests were kind of hard but they were fair. This class was amazing! Tusing is a great professor!!
SO difficult for a basic level class. I'm not sure how Prof. Tusing or his TA grade the assignments because I always did badly on them even though I though I gave complete answers. Office hours are ridiculous. They generally turned into one big group so it wasn't helpful at all. Tusing himself was a good professor, but the class was hard.
Tusing does well - very clear in his lectures, and I could stay very engaged. He's great with answering questions. The exams were easy enough because I attended every lecture and used good NoteHall study guides. The homework was graded so hard though. I never really figured out what I was doing wrong, and office hours were too crowded to find out.
This class is so hard for a 100 level course! Lectures are not mandatory, but it behooves you to go because his notes are not online. Make sure you go into his office hours a few times before the homework is due, and get there early because it is crowded. His tests are tough (make sure you study lecture notes) and he grades the homework impossibly
Took multiple classes w/ Tusing as a Comm major at U of A. 101 is a more difficult 100 level class, probably to weed out a lot of people who aren't serious about sticking with Comm. Attend every lecture, take good notes, and do the reading - you'll be fine. He was always responsive to my emails. I found my TA's to be helpful, too.
Took this class for an easy A and barely got a B. The class is way too hard for what it is. Written assignments are annoyingly long and hard to get good scores on and the tests can be difficult as some questions are obscure things he may have mentioned in lecture. He does not put notes online and you are expected to write down every word he says
Enjoyed this class thoroughly, probabaly my favorite comm professor. didn't get the grade I wanted, make sure to do well on midterm. very nice teacher, enjoys teaching and i enjoyed going to class
Tusing is the best comm. professor at the UofA! He's extremely approachable and helpful! His notes are key to getting good grades on the midterm and final. He's a great teacher, so nice :)
Tusing is the best professor I've ever had. Taken both of his classes, 300 and 101. Attendance isn't "mandatory", however he base all of his test material from lectures. Great sense of humor, make lectures easy to understand and overall a great Professor
Follow the guidelines for the writing assignments. He gives you about 20 different times to get the best four grades for papers. When he gives out the test, study extra on the hints (obviously).
This class makes me wish there was more work to do. The assignments are graded ridiculously hard and exam material is NOT taught adequately. He is extremely vague on what exactly is going to be on the test. He gives you a six page study guide only based on the book, but also expects you to learn all class notes for the test. Impossible to get an A
Very interesting class! Make sure you know each study guide front and back before any test. Class time is helpful towards your grade if you take notes and listen. Super interesting class & Tusing is funny!
Tusing is a good communicator (ironic right) and his lectures are always very organized and clear. The class is challenging from a grading perspective but there is not a lot of required work. Put effort into the writing assignments, go to class, take notes, and study the lecture notes and study guide for the tests and you should get at least a B.
Very easy! Only 2 homework assignments all semester, 3 tests (not to hard just do the study guides, and you have to be a subject in 4 research studies (he tells you about the opportunities and they are really easy). Super easy especially if you go to class and take notes. If you take the hybrid class it is really just 2 classes a week and no online
The Communication department clearly uses this class as a way to weed out the people who want an easy A from those who are actually interested in Comm. I went to class, did assignments, and studied hard for the tests, and just barely missed a B. There are 5 assignments and 3 tests. Tusing is a great lecturer and does a good job of explaining.
Easy class just the tests were kinda hard. He doesn't post the lectures online either which is lame because class was boring but I love this teacher.
he was a very good teacher. easy class to skip but make sure you go.
Professor Tusing was one of the best professors I have had. His lectures are really easy to follow. Class isn't mandatory, but it is harder when you don't go to do well on tests. Definitely invest in the textbook.
awesome guy. easy to skip class without attendance and miss important material though. With a little effort and consistent attendance you will succeed.
K. Tusing is a legend. Easily the best prof Ive had in Comm and I might say he is the best in the department. He is monotone but his lectures are hilarious. He has such deadpan humor but his anecdotes help you grasp concepts. If you go to his office hours on papers he will do his best to make you succeed. He is also the most reasonable prof Ive had
Stuff on study guides were not on tests! Class was boring.
By far one of the best professors I've had at the University of Arizona, he's hilarious and makes his lectures interesting, also really good looking.. Tusing is the best!
Tusing is really a great lecturer. This class is not that hard as long as you do the work and take notes in lecture. Get your writing assignments checked by the TA beforehand. Study both the text study guide and your notes before exams. The class is very straightforward, there is not a lot of work, and Tusing is solid. Pretty easy A.
To succeed in this class, simple: take notes and study for the study guides. I got 100 for every test.
Go to every study opportunity to get extra credit. This will cushion your test grades and grades on homework assignments because he is a tough grader, especially on papers.
Really cool dude, he tries to add some humor to the lecture even if they are dad jokes at leas he's trying. Tests are pretty tough but if you study you will do decent. Go to the extra credit study opportunities, got an extra 15 points which helped me get an A. Go to class because a lot of the test is stuff from the lecture.
This class is not hard at all. It takes minimal effort as there are only two homework assignments and three tests. This also means there aren't many grades so tests and homework matter. The tests are pretty easy just takes some memorization and mostly common sense. He doesn't grade the homework the TA does so some years its easier than others.
Dr. Tusing is an amazing professor. COM417A (Intimate relationships) was my favorite com class of all time. The material is so interesting, and Dr. T explains is so clearly. He tells you exactly what to expect on the test so there are no surprises. The textbook is such an easy read, AND it is actually interesting. TAKE THIS CLASS, COM MAJORS!
Super easy. Quiz/ discussion every week and 1 paper worth 100. Looking for an easy A take him. A lot of reading and must actually watch his online discussions.
Great professor. He makes things very easy to understand and gives plenty of examples within the lecture to ensure comprehension. If you don't show up to class you will have to get your notes from a friend. So either show up to class or be that annoying student who emails everyone on the class list for the notes.
Took the online class, SUPER EASY however there is a lot of reading and you have to watch the lectures that is where he gets a lot of his quiz questions from. No final a quiz every week and one paper. Nice man
ONLINE COURSE. Assigned lectures, book chapter and supplemental readings were sometimes a lot to handle. You must go through the lectures, read the assigned book chapter and supplemental readings to get a good grade on quiz and discussions. Overall, great content. Lectures are very clear and easy to understand. Fair grader. Interesting course info
Tusing is the best prof. I have had yet at the U of A. His lectures are interesting and I actually look forward to going to class. He has a great sense of humor and truly cares about the material and students' performance. I love his "no talking" rule - talking is too tolerated during lectures. Do what he asks of you and you'll get an A!
Great professor. Keeps you engaged during lectures. 3 tests and 2 essays are the bulk of your grade
Best prof ever! 3 tests, 2 homework assignments, and research participation. 6 credits of research got you a 100, but I did all 10 and got 20 extra credit points. Tests are really hard so go to class and take good notes. For the first time ever he made the last test open note, not sure if this is a continuous thing. Hilarious prof and loves comm.
He made the lectures interesting by using humor and would incorporate examples that are relatable, or at least something which made it easy to understand the material. There aren't many thing's you're graded on 3 tests (300 points), 2 written homework assignments (100 points) and research participation (100 points) with a total of 500 points.
Class is not mandatory BUT very recommended. He's funny, makes us laugh and makes the context easy to understand, He's very straight to the point, nothing is ever vague. The class is easy, 2 writing assignments, 3 test, 6 participation opportunities.
I really loved tusing. Hes very smart and his lectures were never boring and he uses modern day examples to help you understand things more. I know many people who did awful in this class but they also didnt try at all. Dont take this for an easy a, but its not hard to get a B. Show up to class and take notes and youll be fine
You have to do well on the tests and papers. DO THE RESEARCH PARTICIPATION. It will bump you almost a whole letter grade if you do them all.
Really make sure you go to class and take good notes as well as do the study guide. You'll pass every test if you do so cause the questions are basically word for word from the lecture and readings. The papers are super simple and as long as you answer the basic question you'll do well.
Most tests are open note so show up to class and take good notes! The tests are still super hard so take advantage of all extra credit opportunities, they count for a lot at the end of the semester
Tusing is a good professor. He doesn't take attendance but I wouldn't recommend only showing up on test days. He doesn't post the notes online so make a friend in class to get notes from or just go to class. His tests use examples from class and tend to be detailed. Definitely, skim the reading to get the full picture of what is taught.
This class is difficult in the sense that it is very test heavy. Attendance doesn't matter. You take multiple surveys online for credit, there's two homework assignments, so try hard on those, and three tests. The final was open note which honestly saved me. If you want an A just make sure you study for the tests and take good notes.
Great class; cool professor.
It's com101. If you show up to the lectures and complete the study guides, you will do well on the tests. Tusing is a great professor that goes over the material clearly and is very respectful to his students.
Do yourself a favor and take Tusing's class! Lecture was very interesting, his office hours were very helpful as well because he gives extra examples and makes sure you understand as much as possible. The exams aren't too bad if you take good notes and understand everything talked about in lecture and in the text. Extra credit really helped me out!
This class was easy because I did all of the work and made sure not to miss lecture. HOWEVER! The course is graded on a few essays, 3 tests, and 6 "participation points". If you miss one, or get a bad grade you can do extra credit, but its better to just work hard.
SO many readings. Class is only discussion posts, quizzes and one paper. Extremely harsh grader!!!! Don't take a class with him unless you HAVE to
He gave good lectures
One of the coolest professors I've ever had at the UA, makes lectures fun and interesting. He provides a study guide for each exam that help a lot and extra credit research participation.
Kyle is a dope professor. Attendance isn't mandatory and he posts lecture notes on d2l. 3 exams the last exam is open book. two homework assignments the entire semester and research participation.
Kyle is a good teacher. He posts lecture slides to d2l which is cool, but if you don't show up for lecture you miss anything not listed in the bullet points. Do the readings for the tests, which are laid out in a study guide making it easy to follow.
Kyle is great. Very fun and makes the class interesting. Lecture slides are good but doesnt have as much information as what he speak upon, so go to class (not mandatory). Review the study guide and read the online book, he will test you on it. Paper are easy as well.
Kyle Tusing is an amazing professor. He cares so much about what he is teaching and it shows. Lecture is verbally based, and you really need to go to class to get the notes. Otherwise, I guess you could just read the textbook, but his lectures are funny and I'd recommend going. I would definitely take his class again.
His lectures are amazing! Really enjoyed this class. Graded by few things so as long as you stay on top of that you will be good.
Tusing took a ridiculous amount of time to post final grades, which is insane given that it was scantron and he has 5+ TAs. Then, after doing great on everything except the first he exam he lands me with an 89 in the class and refuses to review any of your work or round up for any reason. Very irrational about even contemplating reviewing a grade.
A C average on an unlimited open note exam should say something about the professor. Also, don't expect to be able to share your opinion if you disagree with a grade. Teaches communication but hates communicating with students who disagree I guess.
I loved this class not only because it was simple and straightforward, but Tusing really does care about his students. All he asks of you is to not talking during his lectures. Attendance is not mandatory, but I would attend his lectures. There is extra credit opportunities and talk to him if you are struggling with anything and he will understand.
I took the 7 week class so theres 2-3 quizzes every week plus a discussion post (3 paragraphs and 2 responses) and 2 papers. Also 9 surveys. No final.
Be attentive to his announcements on D2L if you're taking online course, as that's his main method of communication. Most answers to quizzes were given during lectures and not so much in the textbook, so take notes during lecture!
This was a great class. Straight to the point. Take the class seriously and it will be EASY (don't goof off on how easy the class is).
I loved him! You really do have to go to class to pass. But he's kind of entertaining. There's no lecture slides it's really about going and writing down what he says but most of the time he directly says answers to the weekly quizzes. He makes the class super straight forward and is honestly just really good at what he does!
Took the 7 week online and was high paced and the TA graded hard. Weekly module with readings and lectures with quizzes. Had to write a lot but material wasn't too difficult if you read it. Had to put in some effort to do well.
Professor Tusing really made the material interesting and super easy to understand. Quizzes are super easy if you take notes during the lectures. I would definitely recommend this class.
Tusing is an amazing professor who makes lectures about boring topics enjoyable. Quizzes are easy and he gives you the textbook for free. 2 homework assignments through the whole semester but make sure to put full effort of they'll screw you.
I loved this class, and it made me add Communication as a second major rather than a minor. Professor Tusing is great. The class consisted of two papers and weekly quizzes. Don't let the quizzes intimidate you as they are online and open book/open note. The papers were not very difficult and he would give feedback prior to submission if asked.
Super easy course and a great class overall. I loved Prof. Tusing. Just go to class, pay attention, and you will fine! There were no tests, with only a short quiz each week. He also provided the opportunity for extra credit and is quick to answer any questions you may have.
Only 2 homework assignments, other than that one quiz at the end of the week it is timed but you can still use notes. showed up to about half the lectures and still got a good grade. Super easy A if you do show up.
COMM 101 wasn't too bad. There is a couple readings so make sure to do them and show up to lectures! It is mandatory. Professor Tusing is also hilarious and record lectures because everything he says is important. Read the readings, show up, take notes, do the quizzes and writing assignments and you will get an A.
COMM 101 is not bad, just show up to the lectures, or watch the recordings. There are weekly quizzes that are a little hard, but not too bad, just read the readings/lectures they're based on. Do the research participation assignments! & there are only two writing assignments that are not bad at all. Professor Tusing is a great professor!
Pretty standard lecturer, so cant complain. As long as you show up to the lectures and pay attention, you'll pass all the quizzes, as theyre open note. And dont wait last minute to do the research credits, just knock out one a week and youll get the 6 required, plus extra credit. I found the lectures to be interesting as well
cool teacher, class is an easy A, just have the textbook and your lecture notes open when you take the quizzes and you will pass them Make sure to do the participation research assignments but other than that the class is super easy and it was a class i never had to worry about
Professor Tusing allows a great introduction to communication through this insightful course, from the readings being freely offered, which alleviated my worry about paying for books. He also focuses on minute learning, which corresponds with quizzes over the course that replaces any sort of exam, which is extremely nice. Would take again!
There were two written homework assignments that counted for a large chunk of your grade but they aren't very difficult. You must go to his lectures in order to do well on the weekly quizzes. I would recommend recording the lectures because he does not post detailed notes online. Overall, I would recommend taking COMM 101 with him.
Professor Tusing has much knowledge to share. 2 lectures per week with 2 short quizzes. He provides overall feedback to the class on weekly discussion posts. Cite course material in discussions ~ 45 min. Lectures at most 30 min. You can reach him by email easily. He's supportive if you need accommodations, just communicate your needs w/ notice.
Your grade is based off of nothing but quizzes, research studies, and two written assignments. Written assignment grading is done by the TAs. Quizzes are 10 questions, you have 15 minutes. The questions are on: lecture, book, and pdf articles. So get ready to read or be really fast at skim reading. Very relatable guy and reopens missed quizzes.
It is a very simple class, and he replies to emails very quickly if you have questions regarding the quizzes or course materials
It was through an administrative glitch that I took this class because it looks like professor Tusing hasn't taught 318 in over a decade. Couldn't submit any assignments because the course wasn't real in the LMS, so I ended with a disappointing grade. I googled Kyle Tusing and I think is profile image is AI generated.
Kyle is very sweet and caring and appreciates the students who show up to lecture. There's two papers, a test every week, and 6 research credits required. All very doable and very easy but don't wait to do the research last minute. Check every week on the website and do them as soon as you see them, any extra research you do counts as extra credit.
Very good professor and easy class to get an A
He is very easy-going and passionate about what he teaches, and his lectures are very interesting.
Worst professor I have ever had. Makes quizzes so difficult for no reason, and they are proctored with no notes. He assigns so much content to do in one week. If you are a STEM major student, this class just adds to your workload in a negative way. Emails are passive agressive when you try and ask for help. Grades discussion posts so harshly.
I took the 7W online course. Nice guy, and content isn't hard, but the quizzes are what got my grade. There are usually about an hour of lectures a week, and a lot of reading. Do the readings and take notes on lectures, otherwise, you won't pass. Also, a tough grader on the discussion posts, so make sure to be detailed in your posts and replies.
The tests for this class were so unnecessarily hard. The class averages were consistently 45-60%, which feels like not a student error but a teaching issue. It is so heavy on textbook content and nitty-gritty details from readings.
Everything is very organized in this class. You just get graded on 2 essays, weekly quizzes. As long as you read the weekly materials, it is an easy A. You can tell he cares about his students
I hate Kyle. The main problem was that tests and homework were graded harshly. I once emailed him with a question, and he responded in a very rude manner. His tests are mainly on the textbook readings, despite this, even if you study and read them all there is still a chance of not doing well as they ask about very nuanced and specific information.
I don't dislike the professor however, his test were so unnecessary for parts of it. I like his lectures and how he teaches the problem with him is he tends to put very random questions from the text book on the test. Almost all the questions are from the textbook or PDF. Even with a cheat sheet I scored very poorly because of that reason.
his grading makes no sense. grades are based on solely arbitrary numbers (eg 11/20 for a written homework problem) with no feedback on why. tests are unnecessarily difficult with so many questions from the text that are unimportant. it's almost like he wants his students to receive low grades. this class made me switch my minor.
This class was pretty chill, as there were only a few hw assignments and a few tests. He does random attendance checks so make sure to not miss those as they cant be made up. Tests can be a little tricky you just need to have studied your notes and read the assigned readings or you wont do well.
He is a good guy but the exams are just way too difficult for an 100 level class. Random attendance checks so attendance is mandatory.
This class was great, his lectures were very engaging
He was great. People say he was 'unfair' because they chose not to show up. He gave clear directions, he gave so many examples of test questions, and most of those 'examples' were directly word-for-word on the exams. Kyle was great. If you show up to classes daily, you literally cannot fail. If ppl whine about failing, it's bc they barely tried.
Discussions are graded very harshly no matter how well you follow the rubric or the length of the Discussion post. This is a huge part of the grade so it makes a large impact when he doesn't grade above a 70%. No actual feedback. Online class with fully proctored and recorded quizzes. Overall do not recommend. needlessly difficult.
I liked Dr. Tusing a lot. His class was extremely manageable, his course policies were decent, and he's a good lecturer. He was accessible outside of class via email and office hours both. The class had some exams, 2 homework assignments, and some online surveys that were really easy. It's a reasonable class and had great content.
i withdrew around the halfway mark; tough grader for no reason. extremely lecture heavy, he's not a bad lecturer per say but didn't enjoy either. huge class too. mid
