Great teacher. Hard to follow at first, but once you catch on it is easier. Test are reasonable - just follow the study guide. He says you have to read the book to make a good grade in his class, but I made a B without reading.
he's the best! he gives a real account for what happend. he cracks a lot of hick jokes and santa jokes about himself. hes great, gives extra credit even when he says he won't

He is very funny and very helpful. I really liked going to his class...He is very casual at times and doesn't mind helping you out on the sides...Enjoyed him this summer very good. Three tests and your final is your third test and the writting assignment is easy peasy!! Loved him great guy.
great teacher! very humorous. makes class fun to come to. helps you out if you ask. made my first college experience a fun one and made me enjoy history
I took his class online it was the worst class in have even taken online. Word to the wise don't take this class online go to the classroom
Really cool professor and keeps the class fun.
He was a ton of fun during the summer.. on the first day of class during introductions, he called me a "skinny little ****" so I called him a "big fat ****" in return. We all laughed so expect a nice, light-hearted atmosphere through
made class a blast... down to the point.. very funny!
Most laidback prof. i have out of all my classes and probably the funniest. he makes EVERY thing easy.. the reading, the study guides, the test. u name it
I cant believe this guy is a doctor he is like a crazy redneck that would woop your a#@. You would never expect this guy to be a doctor by the way he talks and curses I LOVE IT!!!
Funny like anything. "Scholars" thats what he calls us. And tells us he will whip our A## if we don't do well in class.
Scholars!!! (thats what he always says on the way in)he is the most hilarious redneck you could imagine. he teaches great and is really helpful. he makes fun of himself and it is so funny and so true, things about his being a fat ass and stuf. he made the class fun and interesting. he gets to the point and doesn't care about datesand timelines!!
Intelligence, wisdom and humor; what more could you ask for in a professor. Highly recommend him!
Love this guy! funny, intesting and fair.
DO NOT TAKE HIS SHORT SEMESTER COURSE! don't choose to go to hell when you got other semesters as options..
Funniest teacher in the world. But you gotta study to pass his test. And READ THE BOOK!!!!!
he sucks badly
If you don't like History you must not take him as a professor. All he does is lecture. He has no powerpoint or anything of that sort. You must read in order to pass this class and undertand the material well in the book. I highly don't recommend you take him.
he is a nice guy but not a good teacher. all he does is set down a chair talk about politics. he will give you the review for test. have to write a 9 page summary of some articles. dude nice person but not a good for those who work and study because you have to read the whole book inorder to do well in the course.
Loved him and his sarcasim. But you have to write a 9 page essay over 3 history articles!
Dr. Wilkison is an excellent professor with a deep and abiding love of history. He requires his students to read the text (GASP!!), and expects effort and original thought. Unknown to most of his students, he is a leader in the field of southern agricultural history. Ask him about it sometime and you will be amazed.
One of the best teachers at cccc so far
Good professor. As other have said, you must "read" the text. I had him for an express class, and he provided a study guide. I don't know if he does that for his normal course, but if he does, you can use the study guide to limit the reading you do by isolating the issues you need to read about. I'll take 1302 with him!
very good, very entertaining, class is easy if you use the review and listen to lectures, very funny guy
I have him for the web course and his instructions are impecable! I've never seen such clear assignments on the web. I also missed a due date due to my own ignorance by mistakenly thinking it was due another day, I emailed him about it freaking out and he assured me it was no big deal and still took my assignment. Great guy! Just READ READ READ!!
He might be good as a person, but as a teacher, noty very helpful. Wasn't to me, anyway. He expects you to know everything already and will ask you without lecturing. I droped because I didn't know much about the history (that's why took the class), but he didn't seem to give me much at all. As a teacher, do not reccomend him.
he is awsome!!! he is a very laid back person!!! take his class!!!
kind of hard to follow with his lectures. he's really funny though
I wouldn't suggest him cause it was really hard for me to learn from him. I'm a very visual learner and his style of teaching is just talking the entire time. If you learn great just by listening and your already good at history then he is a good teacher. He is very laid back. Doesn't care if you show up to class or not. You really don't even have
I took his online course and it was tough. Lots of reading. And when the assignment is due, its due! No late acceptance, which sucks! Even if you have technical problems, he won't accept it. I would try to avoid him!
He is the biggest jerk when it comes to his grading system. You can spend all the time in the world doing the assignments, but if you don't do well on his tests, he'll fail you. His tests are HARD, they are completely out of the book and the book is soooooooo hard to follow and very boring! AVOID HIM!!!
All who said this class was hard must be kidding. You do have to read the book but why is that such a surprise. It also helps to go to class because if you pay attention to the lecture you will get the notes you need. His tests are not hard and he gives you a study guide. Read the book and you'll find the answers. It really is that easy.
Many people have pretty much nailed this prof. with their ratings. He is very funny and truly loves History. You will HAVE to read the book or you will fail the tests. All in all I enjoyed this class. Oh...you will also have a nine page essay over three historical journals. He grades these very easy...if you do the work and followed directions...A!
Stay away from this class! He teaches in a monotone voice, and he doesn't do anything about grades! You have 3 exams ans 1 paper...thats it! Doesn't explain material at all! AVOID!
I took his online class. We had to read the textbook cover to cover. The assignments were not hard, but very time consuming. The test questions were very difficult to understand. Pay attention to every detail in the book.
he does not teach for the test. you have to read the entire book (which is boring) and he gets off topic during his lecture.
A great professor with a great sense of humor. Knows his stuff and approachable. Will give you a review for every exam. I was so stupid not to have made an A+++. You will if you are serious to learn.
AVOID HIS CLASS. i think he is only teaching until he can retire. he is boring. monotone. and has to suffer from ADD. 50% of the tests are over his lectures so take notes. and the other 50% is over the book. he wants you to read and memorize every single detail out of the book. his tests are VERY VERY hard. unless you're a history buff and don'
Um this class is real easy. I was so stupid for not making an A. He does not expect you to memorize the whole book. He gives you a review sheet for all 3 multiple choice test the first day of class. It even tells you exactly what to read in the book. And as for that paper its an automatic 100 as long as you do it. Take him.
This guy is great. He's the kind of professor that makes going to a community college worth while. His lectures are funny and interesting, and as long as you study (like you're supposed to in college), it's an easy grade. Highly recommend this class!
The professor was great, alot of fun. He made you want to go to class because it was always something new. But the tests were very hard. They come mostly from the book and the book was boring. but the prof. was cool
talks waaayyyy too much about nothing that you will need to know, dosent make powerpoints, give handouts, or put anything online. If its hard for you to focus 2a/7 in class dont take him, it will all end up being a homework class. He is pretty funny though, just not my style of teacher.
It is easy to tell which students are straight out of high school by looking at their negative reviews. You're in COLLEGE now, and Dr. Wilkison teaches like a professor should. His lectures are fantastic and as long as you study for your test you can definately get an A. So grow up a little and take this class. You'll actually learn something.
Very cool and good
Professor wilkison is def. not my favorite. I have a very hard time concentrating and understanding history as this is my second time to take it. I think if you are interested in history he is probably a good professor. I like to know the straight up facts and he tends to give all the details. I think his test are very hard. YOU MUST READ THE BOOK!
this teacher sucks, he is the worst teacher i have ever had, i do not like his teaching sytle
This was my first college class and I loved it.His lectures are interesting and funny.I wish my other professors were as interesting.Defintely reccomend him.
Took online. I love History and this was definately interesting. I really loke the textbook. The most challenging part of the class are the 2 exams- 50 M/C ?'s each. When he says you need to read-he means it! Tests are tough but not impossible if you study. I usually get A's but got a B. because of the exams. I got what deserved.
This prof is amazing! You will learn so much and he's absolutely hilarious! He explains things really well (in funny layman's terms), and makes sure everyone understands. LOVE THIS GUY!!! Must read book, but tests are easy; great reviews! I did Maymester, but I wish I could've taken his class for a full semester - he's great! Definitely recommend!
if you are alive, you will love this class.i took him both 1301 and 1302 and i wish i could take him forever.you learn so much its almost mind blowing.be prepared to read the text if you want an A, but you can get a B without ever cracking the book-but that means you have to show up.which isnt mandatory, but trust me you'll want to he his hilarious
did i mention he is awesome? and how much you'll learn? honestly if anyone says otherwise they just need to not attend college anymore, because he is incredibly lenient and easy. never walk out in the middle of a class on him. he will not hold back anything he has to say, whether vulgar, hilarious, or angry. he might be my favorite teacher ever.
He lectures all of class, sometimes using powerpoints. I took him in a fall semester. Every class was another lecture and if you don't read the pages he tells you to for the test, you'll fail. But as long as you read and do the reviews and listen to his lectures, you should be fine. He was really funny at first but then it got old. good overall
This man is great. I disliked History before I took his class. He is also a comic and everything he says is in jest.I am taking him for 1302.
DONT take this class. It is very hard, even if you study, read the book, and attend class. He is really funny and is interested in what he's talking about, but its hard to figure out what is going to be on the test from his lecture. I felt like i learned alot, but the test were really hard. If you love history you'll like this class.
700 page book/9 page paper/ hard tests. enough said.
The class is a little boring at times, he really knows his history. He is very friendly and funny. Only 3 tests and One 9 page paper at the end. You have to read the book to pass the tests. I think he's a good choice for those of you who don't want so much work to do each week. Just read!!!!
Great lectures! I only wish I had taken a full semester instead of express! No surprises, I felt the class was well informed of what to expect on tests.
Took both 1301 and 1302 with him. He is very hard but stimulates you intellectually. I wrote my 9 page paper in one night and still got a 100 though. But the tests are a killer! Requires you to read almost the entire text book, which might I add is very boring. Only take him if you want a challenge!
I love this teacher! His lectures were very interesting and I often wished that it would go on longer. You do have to do a lot of reading for this class and of course writing, but its college...its what you do! Overall great teacher and class. Sometimes you have to wade through a lot of extra story telling and for some that can be frustrating.
Loved his class. Amazing at teaching History. His class was pretty hard for me, and got a B, but was a great instructor.
One of my favorite teachers ever
He gives great lectures. He is very engaging. Tests cover half lecture and half reading. The class was very enjoyable. You must read the book to make an A! He gives study guides. The paper is pretty much a completion grade. Take him if you like history, or if you don't like history but want a fun class and are willing to work hard for an A.
Great story teller, but can get off track. His tests are hard, but otherwise, hes a good prof to take!
This was the best history teacher ever!!!!
He is very passionate about history! He uses little visual aids but really talks the whole time. He lectures like he is telling a story, so it is easy to follow. He gives you review for the tests, they are not hard. You have to do a paper too, but he gives you the whole semester to do it. Good teacher, just be ready to listen alot!
This teacher actually seemed pretty cool. I never went to class, which I think might have offended him. You must read the text book and pay close attention to his lectures to get an a in this class. His tests are hard, and he gives you an essay due at the end of the sememster. Overall though he was a pretty cool teacher
Very passionate about the subject. Lays out expectations clearly and is extremely helpful. If you do all the work and follow the study guides for the test, you will do fine. I spend about 3 hours a weeks on this class and have an A.
Excellent professor, easy class. The book is necessary, but if you buy the ebook ($20), you can search for the assigned reading topics, and save a lot of time/money. If you pay attention to the lecture, you should have no problem with the 3 tests (& if you skip class you can just read about the topics you missed - he has study guides.)!
Great and jolly guy!!! Turns history class into story time and its great!!! Gives study guides and test are an easy A if you know the study guide. He tells you that you have to read the book but you dont have too because on the study it tells you what you need to know from the book so you can just look it up without reading the novel of a text book
Lectures are easy to follow. The study guide is very helpful. There are 3 essays that will need to be turned in. He is a good professor, the tests are not that hard if you take good notes, read the chapters and follow the study guide.
Great teacher!!! Made everything crystal clear. Made history fun!!
I took this online. This professor requires you read the textbook, and gives you just two tests- midterm and final. If you fail both, you are in trouble because it's 50% of your grade. However, do the few assignments, and you can pass. Helpful professor.
Kyle Wilkison is professional, helpful and an instructor, who is committed to his students success. I found him to be understanding and always willing to help. I just wish he would allow open book on mid-term and finals and set it up online. However, with all the other resources he allows us to use. I understand why he does not allow it. Great
Entertaining, thoughtful, a true scholar and example of what an educator should be. Tests are about 40/60 lecture/textbook. Provides good study guides and online lectures. 1 2,000 word essay due at end of semester. Easy A.
Dr. Wilkison is personable, funny, forgiving, patient, understanding, open minded, and an overall joy to be with. He is once of the best professors I have ever had. I would go so far as to say one of the best at Collin College. Everyone has to take HIST 1302, it's a core degree requirement. I would highly suggest taking him!
Dr. Wilkison is probably the best teacher I have ever had. He expects you to know and do the work, but the expectations are laid out so clearly that this can be done with ease if you put in a lot of effort. He is nice, enthusiastic, and a great and interesting guy. Would definitely recommend him to anyone who has an interest in their education.
Did not really like his style of teaching. He's somewhat funny but his lectures were long and often went off topic. Seems like a nice guy but I wouldnt take him again.
He looks like Santa Claus and is EXTREMELY boring!!!!!! I do not like his teaching method. He sits down the whole class period talking about who knows what! If you expect to learn something in this class; I advise you not to take it!!!!!
I am taking him right now.... and it seems the last few comments have been the most honest. he's boring and off topic the whole time.. i dont know how he managed to get so many smiley faces, those are deceiving. he's a bad professor and i hope i dont fail the class.
First of all dont listen to those fools down there. I took Professor Wilkison last year, and he is probably the best history professor there. People below you keep complaining on how they have to read, listen to his lectures, etc. I don't like it either but welcome to college. I recommend going to his office hours. HE WILL WORK WITH YOU! Fun Class
This professor is VERY knowledgeable and is fun to listen to. If you expect to be in a COLLEGE level class and also NOT expect to read the book, then dont go... Easy and simple as that. I am a typical college student that loves my free time too, but do the work and you will receive a good grade...
He is very hard and just sit there whole class time. Tests are hard, choose another one
Very good lecturer, he's got a lot of stories that you won't find easily in textbooks. Makes history interesting, but he does expect you to do the reading and take notes. It's college and he expects you to do college level work. Don't expect a free ride, but if you put in reasonable effort and GO TO CLASS you'll do well in his class.
3 exams multiple choice, 9 page paper. exams are difficult (most questions are on textbook readings), but great professor - he's very funny and knowledgable. if you have problems, talk to him, he's willing to work with you!
He is a good professor, but his tests are EXTREMELY difficult for a history class. They are multiple choice but the answers are very similar and i studied at least 10-12 hours for the test and i got a low B every time, and i was very disappointed. He is nice and helpful though, but tests like i said are difficult.
There is no one better to teach a demanding class with lots of material. Wilkison is a brilliant professor w Vanderbilt PHd; the text is great. Prof provides everything you need to get a good grade. I wish all of my profs were at least half this intelligent.
Very knowledgeable teacher and knows what he's teaching. The class is entire lecture, and he tends to drone on and get boring so paying attention is definitely a task. He gives 3 tests through the semester. You MUST read the textbook in order to pass. He's a good teacher though and he's funny.
He's such a great teacher! His tests are quite hard though, a lot of it's from the book. As long as you read and come to most of the classes you'll be fine. Near the end you'll have three articles to read and a three page paper about each. He really makes history interesting!
I took his web class. The writing assignments and open book quizzes are all easy 100s. These grades offset low exam grades where 80s will still get you an A in class. He's smart and well education. A pleasure to deal with.
Good teacher, would be better off taking in class. Only a few things are turned in online which are heavily weighed. If you are fine with that type of grading system then this class is for you.
He heavily supplements his lecture with the textbook material, so it is imperative to actually do the reading assignments. His exams are a bit difficult, but if you are a good writer I would recommend taking advantage of his optional essays. He is very willing to work with students who need accommodations.
hes real cool
He is a very engaging and interesting lecturer, he's like a storyteller but expect to read the entire textbook and write papers. I took his maymester and he did not water down the class, we still had to read the whole textbook and write a paper.
This class was my hardest class of the semester. However, I still managed to make a good grade. It's hard to focus on his lectures. The most important thing is to read and make sure you use the study guide to help you study for the tests. If you're looking for an A, this probably isn't the class for you.
Not an easy class, probably not the easiest professor for this class. He is easy going and good story teller, but it's hard to figure out what will be on the test. You certainly have to read the stuff from the study guide.
This class was just ok. I took it online over summer. The tests were very difficult but he graded very fairy on the writing assignments. It wasn't too big of a work load. Just a couple of assignments due at the end of each week.
Midterm and Final are rediculously hard. I studied for 2 days straight and averaged 75. They are 50% of your grade as well so be very wary. I had a 98% coming into the test and got my first B in my college career. The tests were more political and psychological in nature than about actual history facts so be prepared. Straight forward class though.
I LOVED Mr. Wilkison! I graduated in 2010 and I still remember his awesome lectures and tidbits of knowledge. I took this in the evening and it was one of the few evening classes that was interesting enough to keep me awake :) Also, he made an awesome mentor for me personally, and challenged some of my opinions- which I sorely needed! So thanks!
This is my first class coming back to college after a long absence of raising a family. I loved this class and Mr. Wilkison makes what is expected of you very clear. Lots of reading but I have walked away with a good knowlege and love for history.
I think he is awesome.I remember more from what he says than what I read. The tests are difficult. You HAVE to pay attention. It bothers me that so many people complained about him because about 75% of my current classmates do nothing but play on their phones the entire period. How do you expect to learn?
His teaching style: Monotonously lecturing into the air, all class. He really knows what he's talking about and is funny, but he's still very boring. Provides bonus point opportunities. Tests are not easy, half of the material is over stuff we never talked about in class. Four essays.
Took HIST1 over maymester. I made the mistake of not readying the textbook to study for test and instead try finding answers online. BIGGEST MISTAKE EVER! Read the chapters he assigns, do the study guide for the test and you will be fine. Very funny professor. He gives extra credit when you least expect it so make sure you to go class every day.
The class is not hard but you have to read the assigned chapters because during lectures he tends to talk in circles. My advice would be to fill out the study guides in advance and definitely don't procrastinate on the papers. They aren't difficult, but very time consuming. He is a good professor just a tad unorganized.
Im taking him online summer. The material itself is easy and so are the tests so long as you read the textbook and study guide...like he tells you to. Its a lot of work but what do you expect with a 4 month class shoved into one month? Easy class so long as you expect to actually study and do work.
He's hilarious. Very laid back attitude. History is a class everyone is forced to take so of course a lot of people aren't going to care about their grade. If you do care, Wilkison is amazing. Average test difficulty. No homework. His website is incredibly helpful. The grammar and spelling of the good reviews vs the bad ones tells you everything.
Not the ideal online class. You will not turn in many assignments but the assignments that you receive are lengthy. Tests are taken on campus. You only take 2 test and they are over 8 chapters a piece. After getting hundreds on the required papers and studying did not do well on the 1st test and needed to drop.
Very funny, very helpful. I hate History, and he made it bearable. If I had to take it again, I would definitely choose this professor.
Took honors. Also took regular 1301 with him. Very laid back. Tells you exactly what he wants done first day of class. Don't really need to read all of the textbook as he suggests, just follow his study guides. Essays in 1301 were boring but not hard. Honors 1302 essay was awesome, got to write about essentially anything after civil war.
Took in Summer I online. Makes it RIDICULOUSLY hard for a history class. All the writing assignments were completion grades and quizzes were nice because they weren't timed and you could use your text book. The topics on the reviews are the "questions" on the test but you have to know EVERYTHING about that topic. If you're lazy and need an A avoid!
He's just amazing! He knows what he is talking about, and he's so intelligent. He is always there to help. He respects everyone equally, and he keeps everything Clear. He's devoted to his profession. I respect and like him. Anyone who would like to take History class should take from him.
Read amazing reviews about him and decided to take him. Biggest regret ever. He's an awesome man with a great personality, but teaching wise? Everyone did terribly on his tests and his lectures are by far the most boring ones you'll ever attend. If you listen intently and are an avid student, take him. If not, trust me and don't.
No one likes history, especially when you're not an auditory learner and you have to sit in a class of complete lecture with three word powerpoint slides. He gets off topic a lot then randomly returns to ramble the lecture. Don't recommend him to those who need notes to pass, you wont get any with him and the book is useless.
Professor Wilkison is an amazing professor! When it comes to midterm and final exam, he outlines a study guide for you, and as long as you study that, you will do great. If you have family problems and have to turn something in late, he is really understanding as long as it is a plausible cause. He is encouraging and honestly willing to help out!
Loved this professor! His teaching styles appeal to any type of learner. The assignments force you to read which in turn help you learn the material. Never really have been interested in history but really ended up loving it. You have to take tests in the testing center and as long as you do the review and study it, you will do really well.
Took him for Honors History, great professor. While his lectures are not easy to follow, they are very unique! You will have to use the book to pass the tests though. Also, an annotated bibliography is your semester project. Start it ASAP, because it is so easy but very long! Visit him monthly to keep him up to date with your work, he will guide!
I took Professor Wilkison's online class and really enjoyed it. It's basically all reading, but the book is so awesome that I kept it an extra month just to read the last chapter! I came down with the flu and he let me turn an assignment in months later! There is no extra credit, but just read and study the study guide and you'll get an A.
I took Dr. Wilkison for HIST 1301 & 1302, both honors. I wish he could teach me for every class. He genuinely cares about each student, and wants them to succeed. Kind man. We had to write a research paper and he lent me one of his own personal books. Only con is there are not many opportunities to get grades, but his tests are easy if you study.
do not take this CLASS .. I am being serious ... I am an ok student but come on! the lectures are so boring due to the fact that he has a monotone voice and he gets sidetracked .. the study guide is a joke .. he doesn't touch all the points .. be prepared to read the book to pass . don't even get me started on the 10 page assignment that we have
I took him for my History 1302 Honors and it's much easier than the majority of other classes I have taken. He knows his stuff, his lectures are fun and he is very friendly. You get two tests and a paper so I don't see a big deal with that. Would definitely take him again, no doubt.
His lectures are long and SUPER boring, and he gets off topic and sidetracked extremely easily. You have to read the book to pass, but if you do, it's an easy grade. If you want an easy grade, he is the teacher to take, but if you actually want to learn something or enjoy your time, you need to look elsewhere.
Took the honors course and thoroughly enjoyed having Mr. Wilkison as a professor. He loves what he teaches and you're able to see it every day! I'm not sure how the regulars classes go, but make sure to read your textbook andor the lectures online! There were 2 tests and 1 project as grades for the entire semester. Make sure to do those!
Good comprehensive study guides. Tests aren't cumulative. Story-telling lecture format. Helpful to students quick to reply to e-mails. Prepares you well for future classes. Made me like history for the first time.
Online grades are by percentage only. 2 big tests are the majority of your grade. Still have to write papers, summaries and take quizzes even though the 2 tests are the majority of the grade.
No extra credit. Midterm and Final should be taken in the Test Center.
I had him for wintermester. He is a fair grader. He says only stuff on the study guide will be on the test. If there is something on the test that isn't on the study guide he will give you points back. The only downside to him is his long stories. He goes on forever with random stories in a certain topic. You will cover topics really slow.
I think that he is an alright professor. He is funny and all his classes are lectures so make sure to pay attention and take notes. Sometimes it can be kind of hard because he rambles on. BUT I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH! READ THE BOOK! IT WILL HELP TREMENDOUSLY! Read all the sections from the study guide and you will succeed. STUDY STUDY STUDY
He's a pretty chill teacher. There isn't any homework, in class or online -- just lectures. Only downside is that he doesn't use power points for notes and just talks. This would be fine if I could write everything he said. He sometimes goes off topic but other than that, the class is really easy.
I took the online class for this course, few grades but relatively straight forward, Easy-Fair grader, gives good feedback with grades. You def need to read the textbook, most of the test questions are worded directly from the book. Otherwise good class, you can easily make an A if you are reasonably proactive.
I was a little disappointed in his Honors class. He gives you a study guide for tests which is all you need. His lecture rambles and it's hard to know what to take notes on but as long as you use the study guide, you'll be fine. He likes to show the bad side of American history so if you're not from the US, he really doesn't tell the whole story.
Took him online. Everything Is straight forward. Pretty easy class.
LOVED THIS CLASS! If you enjoy history and want to learn more about it take him for sure. Yeah he doesn't use power point all that much and he can go off on a tangent or too but you really learn some great interesting things! His lectures are like a story and it's important to pay attention so you can catch important test info. Amazing teacher.
Although the subject itself is super boring to me Prof. Wilkison made class so interesting. He cares about everyones opinions and is hilarious. He posts study guides for each test online and its really all you need. Definitely would take him again!
It is easy to ace this class. His lectures are a little lengthy, so take notes on the main topics (on the study guide), you'll do well. A lot of people didn't try in the class, resulting in huge curves. Use the book's index when studying the textbook material! I only studied 2 hours per test. 4 tests, 3 essays (due at the end of the class).
Took this class online. Assignments are easy and straight forward but a little time consuming. There are a few assignments but two MAJOR tests that are worth half of your grade. The midterm and final are based off chapters in the book and are VERY CHALLENGING. Be ready to read the textbook and tests are required to be taken in testing center
His class is overall so easy. All his homework assignments and quizzes are a breeze. However, you have 2 tests during a normal semester (midterm and final), which both are very heavily weighted. I am terrible with history and studying the subject is hard for me. I received 95 or higher on all homework grades/quizzes but completely bombed the tests.
Dr. Wilkison was an okay professor. He made U.S. history interesting by making jokes about it and having a deep passion for it. During lectures, he talks the whole time and could ramble on but you get used to it. He gave reviews for the exams, but some questions come from lectures so attendance is important. He is caring and wants everyone 2 pass.
(Wintermester) Dr. Wilkison is the best college professor I have ever had.I basically liked everything about him and his class. He is so funny and makes the four hour class entertaining and fun. He is truly caring and is there to help his students succeed. I look forward to taking him again.(Reading the book helps.)
You can tell he's passionate about history through his comments and jokes. Very few extra credit opportunities and only uses three tests and one paper for the entire semester's grade. Tests are half lecture and half textbook, so get ready to read. He always walked in a few minutes late and class was often boring because of the lectures.
Super nice and funny guy. I really enjoyed his lectures as he is very passionate about history. He gives extra credit so do it! The tests are NOT easy so study, and do your study guides.
Loved this professor. Easy work and interesting material. There are very few assignments with lots of time to work in between. Midterm and Final must be proctored. Everything is taken right out of the textbook though. 11 assignments for whole class. 4 lecture and text quizzes. 4 summaries and essays. 1 document analysis. 2 big tests. no overload
Took his class online and loved it. Always responded to my emails and was willing to help me out. Everything you need to succeed are in the book and his lectures. Great teacher, would recommend taking for sure!
The best history teacher hands down. I took his class this fall and because of class being blended it was impossible to gather everything in one sitting but he gave extra credit (something he dont believe in) to boost our grade up. Wish I had more time with him!
This professor was such a gem!! He was unbelievably kind and you can tell he enjoys what he does. The class overall was really easy I would highly recommend
I took his class online, and I like that he is enthusiastic about what he teaches and has a very organized layout during the class. There is no extra credit for his class, and he says the reason is that he wants his students to focus on doing well on the required assignments. Midterm and final exams are challenging, but he provides study guides.
Super chill and funny teacher, would take him
if you have trouble focusing or hate reading, then don't take this class. a lot of the study guide comes from his lectures and they tend to be long. you also have to read a lot. he is a very nice professor, but i have trouble focusing for a long time so this class wasn't best for me. if you enjoy history a lot, you will definitely like this class!
I took both his 1302 and 1301, and if I could take them again I would. Grades are very dependent on tests, however he provides a extra credit study guide that aligns exactly with the tests. His lectures follow the study guide topics precisely which makes filling them out easy. Very genuine and funny professor would 100% recommend and take again.
TAKE NOW!!! I finished the majority of the course in the first few days. The exams can only be taken at specific dates which can be annoying but otherwise you could literally finish course in a week. You get an easy extra 5% on your grade by taking an extra lecture quiz. There are only a couple other assignments. I REPEAT, TAKE NOW!!!!!
