This guy is one of my favorite teachers EVER. Every class is intriguing and easy to follow. He teaches by example and analogy, which is how I learn. He's fun, exciting, very fair and kinda hott for an older guy. Fantastic teacherm I'm takin him again.

Fun and interesting. Likes to give lots of quizesses which seems horrible, but they are fairly easy if you take good notes. The quizzes boost your grade and on days when not alot of people show up he'll give you extra creidt points for showing up. Test are moderate.

It was a pretty cool class. You learn alot of interesting stuff, and you barely feel like you are going to fall asleep (there were a few times just because i was tired). He relates things to everyday life and has alot of interesting personal stories. The class was easy to follow. About half the girls in my class thought he was hot.

if you show up to class you can get a decent grade without doing the reading. he pretty much teaches straight out of the book but he uses a lot of examples that come up in the tests and quizzes that arent in the book. he's not bad to look at either :)

Mr. Barr is a great professor. He covers everything very clearly and he likes to mix in how he feels about an authors claim as a basis of comparison. The girls I sat next to loved to remind me how "hawt" he is, but for us guys he's pretty chill and he loves the steelers. You'll learn a lot and he isn't another crazy psych professor.

cool teacher..... didn't have any passion at first for psych but after taking this class i ended up changing my major to psych.... he's fun uses personal exp. to better explain theories... if u go to class and half way study u'll do fine... i got a B .... missed 3 classes. summer session and i still passed so thats kool.... take him he's the best.

Kyran is a great professor. He is intelligent, professional, clear, and funny. He always gives out study guides for the exams and pretty much every question comes from the lectures. He welcomes class discussion and gives quite a bit of extra credit points. A great guy. You will learn a lot from this class.

You MUST take his class! He is one of the greatest teachers in the entire world! Most of the test questions come from the study guide. He is easy but I learned a lot. I strongly recomend him!!

This is the best teacher i have taken so far in tis school. The information is interesting and he loves what he teaches, so it makes it easy for you to become interested in the subject. For test and quizzes you just have to learn the key words and some examples and you will get at least a B. Take his class for psych 1, he is the Best!

He's an easy teacher. Around 90 percent of what's on the exams are from his lecture. Therefore, you need to read a little bit to get the higest score in the class. I think it is impossible for anyone to fail his class if he/she attends class regularly.

Kyran Barr is a great teacher. Although I am no longer a student at LBCC (transferred to CSULB) I am taking his psych 33 class just for fun (and I'm not even a psych major). He is hot, which makes it easier to go to/be in class. Take notes and review them before the test, read anything you don't quite understand in the book and you'll get A's!

Great instructor. Really engaging and cool lectures, tells of his own personal experiences that really make the class fun. 3 multiple choice tests, 2 quizzes, and 1 project (tentative). Take good notes, everything he goes over in class will pretty much make up the entire exam. No cumulative final. And he dresses pretty sharp too.

Excellent professor!!! Test is based on notes given in class, so take notes on whatever he goes over. His lectures are very active, interesting, and educative! No homework, but a re-search paper due at the end of the class. 3 test, 1 non-cumulative final. Not a hard class, but do not get comfortable. Test are analytical, not definition. TAKE HIM!=)

Concise, organized, and affable. Lectures are straightforward, informative, and consistent with the four exams (final is noncumulative). Psych majors might appreciate the material at the end of the text chapters, some of which is not covered during lecture. Expect evaluative points for class participation. A group project was required.

Amazing teacher. All exams are only on what he covers and gives clear and concise expectations. Study guides are super helpful. No fluff or annoying tangents and encourages student participation. More professors should teach like him, I wish he taught every psych class. I recommend him for anyone as your #1 choice for any psychology class.

This guy really knows his stuff and as long as you take the time to take even half decent notes and pay attention, you'll pass for sure. Make sure you're there every class since the lecture notes are like 95% of what you need. Class project is annoying but alright. Plus, he is a total hottie.

Kryan Barr is by far the best teacher I've taken. In my classes with him, I had the book open during class and followed along with him (he will go through the chapter, so you will know where he is getting the topics from) and made it easy for everyone to understand. Kyran Barr was the best teacher i've had at LBCC. He made coming to class worth it. Very easy to follow lectures and the class moral was very high. Very rarely was there an absent person in class. Had a very simple grading policy and expects you to pay attention if you come to class. Tests are easy if you study. one group project.

Wish there were more professors like this. He was hilarious and very enthusiastic which helped since I had this class at 8:00 am. (I am not a morning person) Didn't even feel like he was lecturing. He applied everything to real life events.

Professor Barr is amazing. For Biopsych, his lectures were clear and he keeps you engaged by moving around, drawing on the board, occasional use of the projector, and his great sense of humor. It's necessary to read, like most psych classes. But it's not mandatory. There is no homework, just tests and a paper. He is generous with grading too.

I took his class over for the previous winter course & he's GREAT. He does not use powerpoints, but his lectures are based off the book. He goes into detail & slows down for important info. As well as sharing stories & examples to help you retain the important info. If you go to class & pay attention the tests are easy. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

The best professors I've ever had. I had him in a 7am class and he kept the everyone wide awake and active when he was teaching because it so interesting. We had 4 exams (no final) based on his lecture, participation points, and a movie review. Easy "A" with little effort. Only teacher that made me want to take extra classes with.

Prof. Barr is funny, nice, & great at his job. You will learn quite a lot in this class - he keeps it interesting. He provides study guides for the tests. This really isn't a hard class--you just have to UNDERSTAND the material (& LISTEN to his lectures), don't just memorize it or you won't do as well. Don't underestimate the tests; they are wordy.

DIdnt do so well on the exams had a D for majority of the Semester but with particpation points, the final and research paper my grade boosted up to a high "C" dont stop going to class if you have a bad grade he offers extra credit. Barr is a really good professor that doesnt give out homework so its not a class that youre going to stress out too much over regarding work. The grade is basically 4 quizzes and a final paper throughout the semester. Attending his classes will probably guarantee you a passing grade so its not a class that youre going to be able to skip.

Professor Barr is super funny and gives very descriptive lectures. He has a lot of experience in the psychology industry and is very knowledgeable. No homework. Your grade will be determined by tests.

Professor Barr was part of the reason I switched my major to psych. He knows how to make you look forward going to class, his lectures are full of very interesting stories. He doesn't give any homework or quizzes, just tests. He makes sure everyone is aware of upcoming tests and provides a study guide. He takes time and explains everything good.

After leaving this class and going on to the university, there have been so many useful things I have learned and taken with me. I enjoyed the set up of the class and being able to work in groups and use a real research design. Truly helpful course and professor!

Dude has tons of experience both in the field and teaching so he brought tons of first hand knowledge and experience into the class, was hilarious, and had the most mind-blowing lectures I'd ever seen. BEST PROFESSOR EVER !!! Honestly I have never had a professor like him, he truly cares about your education and goes above and beyond with his lectures so we can understand. He tells a lot of stories to give us examples of certain topics. No homework, just quizzes and exams and a paper which is very easy.

Dr. Barr is the most dedicated educator. For the field of research in psychology which is the last and most difficult part not just for psychology major but it would prepare you for any field you work in --Dr. Barr works very hard, tediously walked you through every single step you need to learn. He is serious in instilling the disciplines. A gem.

He is amazing, makes class go by fast and is so interesting. Has a lot of life experience and keeps you engaged. He doesn't teach by the book, he talks you write. Will go into depth on the board. Does study guides, use the book to complete it and study! One final paper on a movie

Prof. Barr is by far the best teacher I've had here at LBCC. Gives great lectures and always informs us on what will be on the exam with helpful study guides. Doesn't hurt that he has a great sense of humor and passion for Psychology. Would 100% take his class again. Never a dull moment!

Very funny and great lectures. No homework (besides reading the book) and four tests. If the material isnt covered in class, it wont be on the test. Great teacher. Definitely recommend him.

No homework. You dont need the textbook unless you want to cross reference everything he over in class. Always gives study guides. Sometimes study guides doesnt match up to what is on the test so be careful.

One of the best professors I have taken. Despite having a hard class, he managed to make it fun and explained things when they were confusing. Very friendly and creates a welcoming atmosphere.

the best teacher to have and was very understanding during Covid-19. He always makes sure everyone understands before moving on and even adds real-life stories to make it easier. no final or homework. During COVID he got rid of the paper in favor of weekly discussion boards and got rid of the 4 chapter tests for weekly 15 question quizzes.

You are graded on exams and a final paper. That's it. No homework. If you aren't a great test taker, then be careful. I loved the lectures though. He's very engaging and lively. He manages to link his lectures to personal stories that helped me understand the material a lot more. He was a tough grader on my paper however so beware of that as well.

Found Professor Barr on here, seen he had nothing but good reviews so I decided to take his class. Hes hilarious, his stories are amazing, makes the lectures fun and is super kind. Was taking his class in the middle of the pandemic so we switched to online sadly but transition was smooth and he is very understanding. TAKE HIS CLASS!!

Best professor ever. 4 quizzes, 3 exams, 5 discussions, 1 final. Simple. Some material you might already know. Absolutely recommend. Didnt think I would have passed this class, passed his with a B. All psych majors should take a class with Barr! Put in the work and study, you will definitely get a B. Textbook can be found online, long chapters.

Very easy going teacher, just need to pass the weekly test, gives you videos and notes that make the test very easy to pass, and a few discussion post. Would recommend taking it. Nice teacher.

I took professor Barr for Psych 1 during the time that classes switched from in-person to online due to COVID. He was very caring and understanding during this tough time and transition. He is such a great professory! Light homework, great lectures, funny! Definetely recommend!

Professor Barr is by far one of the best professors at LBCC! He's passionate about psych and teachers well. The lectures were a bit long but he made them entertaining and fun. This class is not easy and there's a good amount of work so you have to work for your grade. However, Barr provides a lot of office hours for students. Would highly suggest!

asynchronous; perfect for independent learning with professor still available, lots of reading, outside resources, few assignments, only discussion questions that you are required to participate in, quizzes, and exams. very laid-back class. you will need wade psychology WITH DSM-5 UPDATE. it was hard to obtain at a reasonable price so get it asap

Amazing professor, had him early in the mornings and even though I was always tired, his class always woke me up, because it was so fun and easy to learn in that class. He's very funny, interacts with students a lot, no homework whatsoever, and has very good energy. Choose this professor! You wont regret it!

Professor Barr has definitely been my favorite professor I have taken at LBCC! He never gives homework and there were 4 exams throughout the semester with only one paper due at the end of the semester that was based on a psychological thriller of your choice. His lectures are mandatory and graded but super funny and entertaining so make sure to go!

My favorite class at LBCC! I loved Barr's class! He is very funny and makes his lectures fun. There is no homework, so your grades depend on exam scores. His study guides are pretty clear on what material will be on the exam. A lot of his exam questions have to do with the examples he gives in class. In general, this class was very interesting!!

Professor Barr's PSYCH1 class is a must-take! His lectures are engaging and entertaining, with no homework but helpful study guides. The exams focus on in-class examples, and unstuck ai was a lifesaver for exam prep. Definitely recommend this class!

Love him, i really retained info with him. His grades are all based on tests so just study but theyre not too hard. Also, dont waste your money on the textook. he made us spend $100 on it and you dont even need it. other than that hes great

The BEST when it comes to Pysch 1. His lectures were always hilarious, ties the topics to some interesting stories. His way of teaching allowed me to understand and remember the information and apply it when it came to an exam. No need to buy the book/ no homework. Has a few extra credit opportunities. I would 100% recommend this class!!!
