first of all i'm pretty sure this is suppose to be Jaye Hopkins not L hopkins. she is an excellent teacher. loved her style of teaching. explains everything clearly and is very understanding. she is by far the BEST teacher i have ever had. loved her class infact she inspired me to major in chemistry. desregaurd all negative comments bout her!

Jaye is extremely approachable. Her lectures are very clear. She make Chemistry fun! You do have to put time in for studing, but she basically tells you what to study. She is down to earth and fun to listen while she lectures. Take her!!!!

Awesome! I hated chemistry and had to take it in order to pursue nursing - she teaches so well that you actually learn chemistry instead of just trying to pass it...I will always be grateful. She is a gem and will probably be courted by a big University one day...she makes that much difference.

She is SO helpful, makes chemistry easy to understand, is excited about what she does, and is always willing to explain things in a different way if for some reason you don't understand the first time! TAKE HER FOR CHEM!!!

Jaye by far is the BEST teacher prabably in America. if you don't understand something, she will explain in a way where the dumbest person will know what she is talking about. I would highly recommand her for Chem. her test aren't that hard but if you want a 4.0, you will need to study and do well on her labs. Over all A++++++++++++ teacher.

Honestly cannot think of a better teacher. She is quirky and really friendly. In her class you actually learn what is going on in chemistry as opposed to any other teacher just throwing material at you, expecting you to figure it out. She is very generous with grading as long as you try. You'd honestly have to have brain damage to get a bad grade!

Mrs. Hopkins is a pretty good instructor. She is very friendly and helpful. I can't say how difficult her other chem classes are. But in 115, work load is relatively small and the tests are easy. However, labs are pretty boring and rarely take over an hour.

I think the best college teacher a person could ask for. If it wasn't for Jaye I don't thik I would have taken such an interest in chemistry which is now my new intrest for life. if you take her you wont regret it. she is such a wonderful person altogether

Jaye is a really nice person and very funny. Her Chemistry 121 class is pretty low key and her quizzes and tests are easy if you take good notes and pay attention. The only thing I don't like about her class is that pretty much every guy has a crush on her and laugh too much at her jokes,it gets old really fast.Other than that,she's a great teacher

Jaye has been so helpful in understanding what I thought to be an impossible subject. She even makes the math easy (unheard of for me). She's understanding and perfectly willing to stay after class or arrange time to go over anything you miss or don't understand. She's funny, & makes chemistry interesting and relevant toward students' future goals.

Jaye was a great teacher!!! She lectures so well that I never really had to read my book. It was quite refreshing. Plus she is always happy to help and answer questions. AND she does it with a smile. I wish I was able to take my 123 chem class from her!!! Any chem class you can take her!!! you won't regret it!!!

Jaye is a great instructor. She really makes everything extremely simple. The labs were interesting and short. Gives you every formula for each test, lets you use the periodic table. I have 0 complaints about her. Highly recommended for chem 121. You won't be sorry you took her.

good teacher although a bit flaky on answering emails/phone. Willing to help in person tho. Highly recommend this teacher to all who have to take chemistry, she makes it easy and a bit of fun. Would reccomend her for other chemistry classes. Brush up on your calculations for her classes tho, they are prevalent, esp at the end!

Jaye is one of the best teachers I've ever had. Chemistry is a tough subject, but she taught it in a way that made it seem like the easiest subject ever! She always made lectures fun and the labs were practically effortless. I highly recommend taking a class with her! You won't regret it.

I would take her again for chemistry! She is willing to help her students pass, she does not like to see anyone fail. She makes the lectures and labs fun and easy to follow. Over all one of the best teachers at this school! I think the other teachers should take note of this!!

Jaye is the best instructor I have had at SCC, she is kind and helpful, very knowledgeable and her love for chemistry keeps the class fun and interesting. I can honestly say that this was the most dynamic and engaging class I have taken, and if I had a need to take another chem class I would take it from no-one else.

Jaye is absolutely amazing. I have always hated Chem and she managed to make it fun. Her power points make learning the material so easy. She is a stickler for attendance, but for good reason. She has a very welcoming open door policy and is always available to help. One of the best SCC has to offer.

I've had several Chem classes at some big 4 year universities, Jaye is by far the best teacher I've ever had. If you don't love chemistry after her class, consult your physician because there is something wrong with you

She is funny, intelligent, and takes the time to make sure you know the material. If you fail her class, there is something really wrong with you.It also helps that she is very easy on the eyes and has a great sense of humor ( her jokes are funny and helpful)... UNICORN!

Jaye is an amazing instructor! I had never had a science lab before this class, so I was a little nervous, but it was an awesome experience. Thanks to this class, I am seriously considering majoring in a science field. Jaye is also super helpful if you have any questions. Don't pay the outrageous price for the standard text, get an older edition.

I took the Hybrid class, It was great, I could go through and watch the lectures over and over again. Jaye was very easy to understand in both the lectures and the classroom. I am not one to understand things easily, I struggle with most classes. Jaye would take the time to explain things to me in the area's I struggled with. I HIGHLY recomend her.

Best science teacher i have ever had!! She is awesome and know a ton! No busy work, just tests which are long, but she gives you study guides and tells you all the answers. Wish i could take more classes from her! Never even really opened my book and got a 4.0!

I had Jaye for 121 also. She is simply amazing--and funny--and dorky--but so very intelligent, fun, and helpful. I've never heard an unflattering word about her. She is clear and organized, and her hybrid classes are great. Down to earth and fair, but not a push-over.

She does Amazing on explaining labs and homework assignments. I have never felt lost during a certain unit ever, I took my first Chem class with her and wanted to do anther round with her so I took Organic Chem with her the following quarter. She works with students and if you just do the assignments you will do just fine! Studying is a given

Jaye Hopkins is an AMAZING teacher. Took her for Chem 121, and passed with an A. She made Chemistry so much fun; I took a hybrid class, and her lectures were on youtube, which is easily accessible on computer or cell phone. She is wonderful at answering any questions you have at almost any given time! If you need to take Chemistry, take her class!

The best teacher!! She is the best professor at SCC. Hands down. Just show up, study, listen to her lectures and you will pass easily. She gets back to you very fast. All the material and tests are very clear.

Hybrid 121: Absolutely listen to the lectures in advance and take notes. It's so easy if you just do that, then review your notes a few times. But you CANNOT skip watching lectures. Do all the extra available worksheets. She is SO ACCESSIBLE, helpful, and interested in YOUR success that if you don't pass it's your own fault.

Dreaded taking this class before even starting the quarter. Ended up being my favorite course and my favorite professor. She has an awesome personality and a clear teaching etiquette.

She is an amazing professor! I love the labs, and I knew absolutely nothing about chemistry. Her lectures are youtube videos (for hybrid class). She explains things very well, and makes it easy to understand. Before tests she also gives a practice test the day before so we can actually test ourselves. Jays is awesome, she helps you understand what you are learning. I took her for summer (fast-paced class) and I did surprisingly well due to her being open to answering questions and help explain labs/ lectures in more detail/ a different way. TAKE HER!

Very organized and well designed class. Lectures are so good and the tests are based off the lectures so I did not need a text to supplement the course content. Jaye makes her expectations very clear. Follow the study guides and the tests will not be an issue. Yes, it is a hard class because it is a hard subject. She makes it as simple as possible.

Absolutely loved Jaye. Only met twice a week for labs. Lectures were posted on YouTube, and always accessible. Replied to emails VERY fast and was always willing to help. Tests were very easy and short, as long as you studied. It was very obvious to me that her main concern was helping her students pass and making sure they understood the content.

I love Jaye...I almost didnt remember her last name because she is so personable, calls you by first name and expects the same. She is extremely willing to help and is accessible nearly any time. Im not a fan of Chemistry, but she makes it fun. There's no way I would take Chemistry instructor, hands down the best!!

By far my favorite professor in all my years of college! She somehow made online chemistry extremely fun and engaging. She seems to genuinely enjoy teaching and to care about the success of her students. It is difficult content so make sure you do the reading AND watch the videos (seriously, do it)-- don't be afraid to ask questions! She's awesome!

Jaye is absolutely wonderful. I had never taken any sort of organic chemistry class and did find just the introductory course a bit challenging. You definitely have the put in the work/effort, but she is always SO WILLING to help you through it. She wants to help you succeed. Even with an online class and lab, she was always there to help.

If you ask me who my favorite professor in college is, hands down it would be Jaye. This class was SO WELL organized and expectations are very clear as far as what we need to learn and what will be on the exams. Her lectures were all very good and labs were so much fun! She is very understanding and is always willing to help if you need it.

My fav professor & fav class I have taken. Jaye is awesome, will check your labs b4 you turn it in. Workload was way less than I expected. Do the practice problems after the lectures and again before exams. Quizzes are open note, exams are intimidating but not awful, labs are fun! You get a cheat sheet for the final! Wish I had taken Jaye for 121!

Very well organized online class. It's always refreshing to see a teacher that puts in a lot of effort to make their class cohesive and entertaining. Definitely one of the better classes I've taken at SCC. I don't get the stigma that community colleges are "dumb." SCC has lots of great teachers! Far better than some at certain 4 years.

Mrs. Hopkins is an amazing professor! She's very kind, understanding, and very helpful with whatever questions you have. Chemistry can be a hard subject, but if you put in the time to study effectively, participate, and ask for help, then you will succeed! I was not excited to be taking Chem121 but this professor really is the best. She was quick to respond to me each time, she explained hard topics really well. If you put in the effort you'll get the grade you are hoping for. There was lots of practice assignments before the tests/exams.
