Ok professor but pretty difficult. Her tests consist of an essay question followed by several short answer. You're pretty much on your own b/c she goes off on rants during class and misses vital material. She does have her lectures online but ya gotta read em or else you're screwed! I wouldn't recommend taking her b/c of her teaching style.
She is a very nice person, very smart, and the class is interesting. She definitely knows what she's talking about. Only downside is her teaching style. We often get behind b/c she goes off on tangents so it's basically up to you to keep up...I still recommend her, she's very informative
Dr. Taylor is a nice woman who retains a multitude of historical information. That being said, her class is very unorganized. Her lectures go off in all different directions, the tests are online and extremely finicky, and she assigns countless writing assignments with NO SET REQUIREMENTS. I withdrew because I felt like there was no hope.
Dr. Taylor is very nice and knows a lot about history. However, her lectures in class go off in all different directions. Since her focus is African-American history, she spent most of her time on lynching and the Civil rights "revolution." She never talks about the material on your test, she just talks and talks and talks.
She talks with her eyes close. You don't even need to go to class to take her test, they are online. In class she does not talk about anything on the tests. Cancels class a lot, is very bad at sticking to her word when it comes to posting test and assignments. Even though the test are online they are very challenging.
AVOID HER AT ALL COST IF U LIKE YOUR GPA AND DONT WANT A HEADACE FOR NO REASON. she can be honestly unreasonable and can come across very rude. I overall got a good grade and still will NEVER take her again. She fight with you and changes her mind about what she wants after you turn things in and grades people poorly for it. The whole class suff
do not take this class. she is the worst prof. ive ever had. class is pointless, does not talk about anything on the test at all. makes you read 100 pages per week. online tests are very challenging, does not prepare you for them. everyone in my class failed the first test. cancels class a lot which is the only good thing but gets annoying
This was the WORST class ive taken. Thames-Taylor was awful. Between her ridiculous lectures that had nothing to do with the exams, and her lack of actually covering any information at all, class was pointless. everything comes from the text book but she doesn't actually cover anything from the text and she's picky. DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS!!
If you need a history class, I advise you to stay away from La Tonya. I worked my ass off all semester, did everything she told us, and got a B. I will say, she is very nice and intelligent. It is pointless to read the book. She gives summary papers, which is all you need to read. Those papers hold all that's on the tests.
Dr. Taylor is excellent and intelligent! She is very challenging. I transfered from an Ivy League school because of finances; I knew what professors like her expect. It was obvious some students in the class were simply not prepared for college. I have left this college because outside of this class, I was not challenged at all.
OK as a person she is SUPER helpful! You know where you stand with her. I honestly don't remember a single lecture that was worthwhile. Read her notes, have a photographic memory and you'll do fine! We watched lots of irrelevant films in the class! Also she NEVER turns back graded work. Don't take her if you care about your GPA!!!! Good luck
I took this class last Fall. I am still thinking about all the ideas I learned in this class. I am a better thinker and writer like she promised I would be. I entered the class trying to fulfill a diversity requirement, I left this class a better person. Take this professor. She is not hard, but expects the best effort.
STAY AWAY. She's so full of herself, and never admits she's wrong. She wastes class time talking about irrelevant issues AND NEVER TALKS ABOUT THE READINGS SHE ASSIGNS US! She's also extremely bias, she never talks about any other view point than the african american one. Absolutely horrible teacher and person. STAY AWAY.
Dr. Taylor is clearly one of the best professors I've ever taken. You're REQUIRED to put in a scholarly effort. You will read a lot and learn a great deal. This is not, regurgitate useless dribble class. Taylor teaches what life was like. You can't help, whether you wanted to or not. I still use the readings she assigned.
She is one of the best professors at WCU. She requires that you think and learn. She is very PASSIONATE about HISTORY! That passion translates into RESPECT for the subject.
my worst nightmare - got a C when I'm an A student in History! Summer class I thought would be good 6-week course - wrong! Tough to pin down her lectures for notes, goes off on tangents, learned more in HS US History than from her, and I'm a History minor. Take US HIS w/someone else! Personally, a very nice woman, but as a teacher, don't think so.
I love Dr. Taylor. She teaches real African-American History, from Africa to working FREEDOM, not slavery to "freedom". She informs students of American history and events in global context and political relevance. She uses personal experience, which is valuable beyond any textbook.
I have never had a complaint about a professor at WCU before, but Dr. Thames-Taylor is completely deserving of one. She cancels class almost once a week, does not return papers in a timely manner, assigns too much reading and doesn't go over it, gives vague and meandering lectures that do not relate to the subject, and is an impossibly hard grader.
Dont take this class! Its ridiculous how hard it is. She makes you read 100 pages a week, then doesn't even go over the reading in class. She rambles on about incomprehensible stuff and is impossible to take notes on. She doesn't go over test material and the test are incredibly hard. I had to drop this class because it was so ridiculously hard.
She cancels all the time so she can wonder around the country for conferences. A ridiculous amount of homework is assigned but you get no grade for participation or for reading. Assignments are not clear and it has become very difficult to even attain a decent grade. Students beware.

Wow I guess most of you have had it easy until taking a course with LaTonya. It is challenging but THIS IS COLLEGE. Online exams were hard but they allowed you to think & learn and not BS. The papers will make you become a better critical thinker. The class overall will prep you for grad and future jobs. HIGHLY recommend. You wont regret it!
Too much work for an undergrad course.I was not crazy about her for most of the time that I had her,but she was okay, she just wants you to work hard for your grade and earn it.Did not agree with her political/personal beliefs. She's nice but can be pretty harsh, but is nice.Should be teaching grad school or higher. Learned A LOT of new information.
Wonderful professor who teaches, not lectures. She is hard, but fair. One point I like about her is that she requires that we read papers and she likes technology. There were some who did not like the reading load though. But, she was one of the types of professors you see on t.v. and I expected in college.
It seems like she is often writing about herself on this website. So sad. I've been to every class and have not learned a thing from her. I will end up with a B though. I was pretty sure I signed up for history not herstory. I can write her biography if she wants me to. She goes off topic A LOT! Expect little to no notes (won't help anyway) and tests that are often confusing and even with help you will not ace it. I keep up with all the reading and everything and I barely got a B. Run away. Fast
Worst teacher/professor I've ever had. She's rude and impossible to talk to. She thinks that no matter what college students are hard. Prepare to work hard and still do really bad unless you happen to be an history buff. Really unhelpful.
She is a good professor. She uses the textbook, so make sure you read. I did not so well on the first exam, I went to talk to her and I understood that I must read the book. I learned after the first test that this class is what my high school teachers told me college was like. Take her.
really tough prof - rambled on in lectures, put forth her agenda on race and racism constantly - allowed 3x5 notes for tests which were useless - one of the worst profs I've ever had.
Absolutely the worst professor I have ever had. She constantly gives her oppinons on race and doesn't talk about the test material or anything useful for that matter. Alot of the time she'll tell us what she did over the weekend. And even if you don't listen to her and just read the book, it still wont help you.
She is one of the WORST teachers on campus, she does not discuss anything relevant to class. She gives tests with questions right off the AP tests and does not explain anything. she tells us constantly how half of us are going to fail out of school. She also spent a whole class period bragging about her new iPhone, do not take her!!!
one of the worst professors at this university. so unhelpful, rambles on about topics to do nothing with the class. tests are impossibly hard. outlines are graded unfairly even though they take hours. DO NOT TAKE HER
Terribly difficult and grading is unfair. I worked so hard in this class and still did not do well. I did extra credit work but didn't receive the full extra credit points. I learned nothing in class and she goes off topic every day. Do not take her.
I would not recommend her at all! i studied, went to ever class, took pages of notes, and I still can't do well on her tests. she is hard and acts like she does not care about her students at all
This Professor is proof that being a brillaint scholar does not translate to being able to teach. She is completely unable to impart her info onto her students. Through the semester I've realized that her incoherent rants are not a teaching style. I am 99.9 percent sure she rants because she has no lesson plan.. AT ALL. NEVER EVER TAKE HER.
If you want to know details about the Sandusky scandal, that she only uses Apple products, or how her husband ran a red light in DC & they got the ticket in the mail, then take La Tonya. She is a brillant person, but doesnt know how to teach. I went to every class, read every chapter, highlighted the book, & took the online practice tests & got a C

She is smart. This class is so easy. I only had to read the textbook. All the answers are in the textbook. The tests are online, multiple choice, and we get two attempts. I only got a B because I stopping taking the second attempt. TAKE HER FOR HIS 150. Easy class and she is interesting.
Easy class. Online multiple choice test. Two attempts at test. She is smart. I only got a B because I stop taking the second attempt.
WCU is a easy college if you major in courses outside of science and business. Professors are like high school teachers because many of the students are from community colleges. I got a 3.8 without any effort. Then, I took this class. I had to read, think, write, and develop thick skin. I am glad I took the class and wish WCU had more who pushed.
Tests are online and allowed 2 attempts but questions are hard. Read every chapter highlighted and outlined and struggled to get 80s. t3 loves to talk about herself, so prepare for that. Nice enough lady but not a very good prof. Gives lots of extra credit that really boosts your grade!ndo ALL of it to counteract how hard the tests are.
She was the worst teacher I've ever had. I had to withdraw from the course. She is not helpful and thinks that she makes no mistakes. It will not benefit you to take this class. I loved the material but had to drop it because of her. I would have failed and I did great on all the practice quizzes but she made the tests impossible.
i took T3 for two different classes while at WCU. The courses were ideal for my interests. she isnt a hard teacher or even unfair, she is just completely useless as a teacher. half our classes she arrived to late, the other half were spent talking about her personal life or were just simply canceled inexplicably. again she wasnt hard, just braindead
DO NOT TAKE HER! She is awful. It's her way or the highway. Half of her lectures don't even relate to the subject matter. She always says she won't waste your time but she does. Tests are online and you get two attempts but they are impossible. You have to read the book to 'pass' this class. Makes the class way harder than it should be.
Literally havnt talked about a single thing besides race, slavery, and oppression of non whites in all classes. Uses class as platform to voice her opinions on black injustices. She is consumed by race and acts like we are in the 1800s in regards to equality. Doesn't talk about anything that is actually on the test in class, just her views on race.
Honestly the worst teacher I've ever had. Her tests are online but half the stuff isn't covered and she rambles during lectures. She shows more videos than anything and says to clear desks but the stuff on the video is on the test. DO NOT TAKE HER. SHE'S AWFUL.
Only "teaches" what she likes about history, i.e. slavery & racism. Tests are on tiny tiny details. You can take them twice, but you still won't get a good grade easily. Likes to hear herself talk, and has no sympathy for people who are too busy to do the reading and fail the pop quizzes. Take another professor at all costs
DON'T TAKE HER. I ended up dropping the course because i knew that my gpa would be jepordized. She gives 4 tests and they're all next to impossible. SO much reading; NO explanations. DONT TAKE HER.
The class is very interesting but challenging. Many students are uncomfortable and have difficulty since she teaches a different side of history. All I have to say is get over it and try to learn something other than dead presidents and the great depression! After all, this is college.
She seems to be a nice person but she rambles about herself in class and in her syllabus and doesn't acknowledge any other views other than her own. The class is also entirely content-driven which is inappropriate for a grad school class. I felt going to her class was more a chore than a learning experience.
DO NOT TAKE HER! Gets very off topic, doesn't teach at all and puts material on tests an quizzes that wasn't taught. I wouldn't have passed if it weren't for the 2 attempts on the test. Doesn't care about her students and thinks shes the greatest thing. Also don't buy the book if you have her because you end up not using. Avoid her at all costs.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! Unless you want to sit in her lecture for an hour and either a) listen to her brag about herself or b) listen to her just bash anything that has to do with the United States. She will NEVER talk about anything from the book or that is on your exams unless it is about black history. Her exams are based on her opinions.
TAKE HER. Tests are online and you have several attempts. This Class and teacher changed my life for the better.
Spends the whole class talking about non-related topics. Loves to talk about her self. Didn't use the book once. Obsessed with the topic of slavery and white supremacy. Neither of which were helpful on tests. Loves pop quizzes. Doesn't review. Shows no sympathy for missed work. Very condescending attitude. DO NOT TAKE HER. YOU WILL FAIL MISERABLY!
very lively upbeat keeps you awake however a lot of the times im left confused as to why shes talking about certain things. super hard test give you two chances to do them though and they are take home. overall unless youre amazing at history i wouldnt take this class.
Don't take her if you don't have to! You never know what she's talking about in her lectures because she just rambles on about race and slavery and things that have nothing to do with the course. 2 attempts for each test which is the only thing that saved my grade. All test are take home. You need to read to pass the tests.
Probably the worst professor I have ever had. Talks about nonsense for most of the class. Very difficult to follow what she's talking about. Tests are online and you get to take them twice which is helpful. Forces you to read her lectures online instead of actually teaching you
She is not a terribly professor as people perceive her to be. Her lectures are interesting and her tests are difficult but they are online. Nothing in life is handed to you so do your work simple as that. Listen to lectures and get the text book for the tests. She gives you plenty of chances to do well.
If you already have a hard time with history, or have difficulty teaching yourself with the text book DO NOT TAKE HER! First test was on 17 chapters. Her lectures rarely have to do with the text or what is on the test, usually just current events or rambles. Very all over the places. You can take her tests twice, but they are still hard to pass!
Although I really like her as a person, this class is extremely overwhelming. It is possible to do well, but the exams are very difficult. Use her online resources, they are helpful, especially for the final exam. Make sure you put a lot of effort into her papers, as they are the assignments you will be able to get good grades on.
She is really nice and helpful when you ask for it (utilize her office hours). However, she goes off on long tangents that put your class behind and then wonders why no one has the material down. The test are kind of hard and long, but they're online and she gives you two attempts at it.
Lectures are 90% irrelevant. You will hear all about her, her family, the stone memorial her name is engraved on in Mississippi and whatever is on her mind that day but little pertaining to the course. She will claim it is not her job to teach things, but to "distill" the things in the readings for you via her expertise.
She is a very nice woman but she is not specific at all. Any learning you do will be from the reading or the occasional lecture that is 100% full of notes. Most classes consist of her talking about whatever is on her mind. She takes random attendance.
She has so many pairs of converse all in different colors. She is very sweet and funny, but she talks a lot about herself and a good portion of her lectures are irrelevant to the material. Test are difficult because of that. She is very helpful if you seek help and she does offer extra credit. Be prepared to read a lot and teach yourself.
Dr. Thames Taylor teaches the type of class that makes you so happy and proud to be a college student. If you want to learn something more important than what's inside of a textbook, I highly reccomend her as a professor. Her lectures are full of insightful knowledge that will open your eyes to our history and how it effects us today. Great class!
Dr. Thames-Taylor is interesting. She will test you on the lecture, homework, and videos. She tends not to add all of the videos at once, so be aware of that. She is very passionate and knowledgable, but her tests are tough. Be sure to use the course website!
She is very opinionated and that shows on her test. She is crazy and barley teaches you valuable American history. Spent more time on the civil rights and skipped the whole end of the book due to talking about the civil rights. .
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!! I read all of the reviews on here and did not believe them and now here I am withdrawing from it halfway through. She expects you to read so much from your textbook and read lectures and watch videos and somehow remember very specific things from them. Doesn't even teach in class just talks about whats on her mind??
Prof barley taught in class what was said in other reviews talked about what was on her mind that day. I have a laptop i can bring back and forth to class yet she insists that you print hard copies of her lectures out. Also she is highly opinionated,She is from the south and is very liberal. Tells you what you were taught before in history is a lie
Easily one of the best professors on campus. T3 is caring, compassionate, and very knowledgeable about American history. While you need to do your work outside of class, note-taking is important during her lectures. T3 was always there for me on a personal level as well, I always look forward to seeing her around campus.
Ridiculously long syllabus. Off by 2 wks by end of semester (w/ no inclement weather). Late to most classes. Doesn't stay on topic/lectures. Pushes around due dates constantly. No manual grades until past W date. Class is imbalanced & disorganized. VERY stressful if you are a full-time student w/ a job and a household to maintain. Not worth it.
Great person to know, but a very opinionated prof. Isn't the best at time management/ grading papers on time/ anything with time. Rarely lectures on course material but rather her life stories (which would be fine for office hours but not time I pay her to teach me). With that said, she helps you become a more critical thinker, even when it's hard.
It's frustrating because I really wanted to like her and actually did my best throughout the semester to do so. However, she is extremely rude in her feedback of your submitted work which was so discouraging I basically gave up. Her positive comments felt almost backhanded, as if anything done right was still not good enough. Would not reccommend
I really like t3. She is a hard teacher, but it is very obvious that she wants you to do well. She is very passionate about teaching, learning, and everything discussed. She is an amazing and kind woman. Sometimes it can be intimidating or difficult, but it is inspiring to learn from such an intelligent professor. I am glad I took it.
Does not thoroughly explain assignments, but expects you to know whats going on. Dates on syllabus are always wrong but blames it on students. Nasty attitude and is not respectful of her students. Very harsh grader and nasty rude comments just an overall nasty person.
I went to a prestigious high school and this class was very difficult. She is very hard to understand and follow during her class time. She is often late and then expects to keep you after, even though we have classes right after, and across campus. Often doesn't talk about the course's content during class, instead about her life. All online tests
she is really really bad please dont take her class i shouldve listened when i had time to switch. Doesnt teach during class time comes late and hold us after. Made the class into african american history when it was supposed to be your average us history course. Lastly expects you to take notes on 20+ page lectures on your own time.
This teacher should not be teaching shes very passionate but makes the class very unenjoyable and I shouldve listened to this websit the first time
Unbearable. She does not teach during class time and will talk about her personal life and try to connect it to class (spoiler alert it does not work at all). Spent most of my time in class ignoring her life story and trying to figure out what the point in attending class was. I highly regret taking this course.
I respect her passion for history. She is has a big heart for African American history, which is easily noticeable on the first day of class. However, her position as a university professor is unfitting. Always late (yet penalizes students if late), focuses too much on her personal life, useless grading feedback, and does not follow the syllabus
She has a lot of passion for history, however when it comes to teaching, she does not know a thing. She provides you with lectures to read online rather than teaching you the material in class, and uses class time to talk about her personal life and claims that its "connected to material" but it sounds like she just wants attention.
dr. t3 genuinely is nice lady and wants you to learn and grow from her class. she taught me many new things and opened my eyes to alot but overall is very unorganized. ALL tests are online which sounds easy but they are pretty difficult even if you study. it felt like uncovered material always was on there. the class requires alot of effort.
Doesnt actually go over the notes which are 20 pages long, instead talks about herself during the whole class. Shows up late every day, but then keeps you after. Have to read the book in order to pass online test.
She does not discuss anything related to the course in class, only talks about herself. She has unrealistic expectations for all of her students, and will keep you after class at least 5 minutes every class, even if your next class starts in 5 minutes on the other side of campus. lectures are 15-20 page essays expected to be read for homework.
One of the worst history professors on the campus and department. She loves to hear herself talk, she keeps you past class time. She doesn't even teach, she puts on a video and sits on her phone and get mad at you for not doing work. Toughest Grader, very meticulous, and overall just not a nice person to deal with. Avoid at all cost.
Dr. Taylor is one of the most insightful professors I have ever had!
Thames-Taylor is actually one of the best history professors I have ever had. She likes to be called T3 and she is hilarious super energetic and cares about you and your success. I would strongly recommend it. The work load is light and gives a lot of extra credit opportunities. I recommend if you're interested in taking a history course go to her.
While Dr. T3 is strict, she is also one of the most insightful professors I have ever had. She really makes you look at history from a different perspective and leaves an impact on you. My one tip would be to make sure you read the book!
When it comes to thames-taylor, all I can say is if you see her on your schedule: drop the class. She does not lecture, talks at length on unrelated topics, and never sticks to her own syllabus. Her motto is also that she is NOT your first point of contact if you need aid in her class, and she is snappish, and rude when students have questions.
Never ever take this class she is the worst professor she dosent even teach she just makes you read her lectures and yells during class about who knows what. Literally if you see her name on your schedule drop the class immediately. The worst class ive ever had to take and made me want to drop out every day
My one recommendation is to drop this class immediately. She only lectures about herself and random topics and then expects you to read the actual lectures for the exams. She does not stick to the syllabus even though she preaches she does and constantly reminds you that this class is the end all be all in your career. Steer clear of her
This was by far the worst professor, I had all semester. She expects you to know everything and offers ZERO help. She simply does not care about you, if u take this class, beware of the difficulty.
Worst prof ever. Very abrasive. Still makes me afraid to take other history classes. We didn't receive a syllabus for at least a month. Later, she couldn't even stick to its schedule - every due date was inaccurate. She took months to grade papers, and deadlines bunched up near finals. Almost all grades were essays with bizarre formatting rules.
Dr. Thames-Taylor is the type of teacher that doesn't give out grades, students earn them, along with respect. When the two are earned though, life in class become much easier. I admire Dr. Taylor immensely and appreciate her knowledge. She is always willing to engage in debate and is willing to help, if asked. Key work is *asking*.
The most vague professor ever. You are sure to be confused with criteria for papers. There are no tests which is nice. Takes forever to grade and is not thorough in terms of deadlines, She tends to change her class schedule and deadlines around to benefit herself. And cannot keep politics out of class. Do not take
Overall a very smart professor whose teaching style depends on the student. Her lectures are insightful, however from which very little will actually be on the exam. The bulk of exam content will come from typed lectures she posts online. Tests are relatively easy, online (per fall 2021). Mandatory attendance - but the lectures are paramount.
You have to remember every small detail of reading and what she said in class to pass exams. Only graded on exams. Extra credit brings down your grade instead of helping. Definition of someone who became a professor for pay with no background knowledge of teaching.
Barely follows the syllabus, is late to every class, dismisses class late, and makes extra credit hurt your grade. Only talks about her social life during class by showing us her FB posts and achievements. She ends up posting super long lectures on D2L for us to teach the content to ourselves. Unprofessional, unorganized, and uneducated. Avoid her!
Horrible! Talks about herself, does not cover what this class is supposed to. She goes over time and gets extremely rude if you try to leave to get to another class. I witnessed her yell at a girl who tried to leave for her next class and she demanded they drop her class since they were being "disrespectful" for leaving 5 minutes after class ended.
I really wanted to like Dr. Thames-Taylor's 1960s class during the Spring of 2022, but I learned little to nothing. Her lectures were very opinionated and never gave any real subsistence. She fails to follow any schedule, which left me and others confused the whole semester. Very harsh grader as well. WCU really dropped the ball by hiring her.
dr t3 is clearly a very knowledgeable woman. If I could have audited the class I would have loved it. But every single deadline was changed at least once (usually more) including the final paper. Grades would not be posted until weeks later. I was more stressed about not knowing when things were due than I was about writing well or learning.
Her style of teaching is not the best. She goes on unrelated tangents that have nothing to do with the class and switches topics in the middle of lectures. She personally does not care if anything is going on in your life outside of class because her class should be your first priority. She does not care about her students at all.
For what people said about her prior to taking her, she is truly an awesome professor to have. Yes, she lectures the majority of the time but when given extra credit opportunities, they are extremely easy and accessible to all. Go to office hours and follow the syllabus.
This professor is extremely unorganized and comes at least 15 minutes late to each class. She spends the entire class talking about her personal life and showing us pictures from random trips she takes. Nothing is made clear and her lectures have no connection to what is in the textbook and syllabus. She announces tests the week it's due.
Despite her class being very easy, she is not a good professor. She was two weeks delayed in giving us a syllabus that I wouldn't even consider a syllabus. She expects us to know the information from the syllabus/textbook for tests but won't teach us about it. Instead, she takes class time to talk about her personal life and the trips she takes.
During class time she is never on time and never stays on topic. She sets ridiculous time limits for test that give you less than a minute for each question. Claims she doesn't teach but didn't tell us about our lectures on d2l until 3 weeks into the semester. If your doing something on your computer she will kick you out of class.
By far the worst teacher I have had to take from. She doesn't teach in class, rather makes you read her 10 page essay format lectures and expects you to have it down pat. She takes it out on the class when you don't know the answers and even threatened to doc points when you don't know the answers in class. AVOID
Very nice lady but horrible professor. She is incredibly disorganized, changed almost every due date for assignments at least once. We did not receive our syllabus until week 5 and did no work for about two months. She crammed in all essays (4) in the last month. Her lectures are not structured and she spends half the class talking about herself.
Claims punctuality but was at least 5 min late all but 3 days. Directly said that the material in lectures is supplementary, and we should be studying the lecture notes on D2L instead. Attendance is still required. Said she wants to charge students for lecture notes in spring (idk if she's allowed tho). Passionate, but can't teach/structure a class
Extremely Liberal. Our class was "history of the south" she said the thesis of her class was that all southern white people are like Dylan Roof in the end, the kid who shot up a black church. Doesn't try to be moderate. and follows no real schedule. Don't waste your money on her classes. Loves to talk about herself. She is extremely disorganized.
Told us the day before class starts that it will be on zoom once a week after signing up for a 100% online summer course that had no meeting times on mywcu. Gave us our syllabus week 3 of a 5 weeks course, which she didn't follow any deadline. Also squeezed all of our assignments and test in the last two weeks.
Make sure to go to class as attendance is mandatory and you will be called out if you miss. She stresses showing up on time, but often shows up 5-10 minutes late. Her class lectures do not align with the syllabus and she teaches using Wikipedia and/or Google. Her lectures are extremely hard to follow. Exams are online.
Dr. T was the most disorganized and unprofessional teacher/scholar that I have ever experienced. I wish I would have dropped the class when I had the chance. She is disrespectful to her students and only cares about talking herself. WCU really dropped the ball with her.
t3 is the most disorganized and confusing teacher I have ever had. She uploaded the syllabus weeks late while promising from week one that it will be uploaded "soon" or "next week", and when it was finally uploaded it is diorganized and hard to follow. She is a lazy professor who makes learning difficult.
Thames-Taylor is super sweet. She can be forgetful and grades are only tests and quizzes. It is easy to do other work in the class as she just talks the whole time. It is an easy A.
Professor can be inconsistent, but the online lectures and easy tests make this class manageable. unstuckstudy was a lifesaver for studying the key details.
Dr. T3 is one of the worst teachers I have ever come across. She is a nice person but should not be a teacher at WCU or anywhere for that matter. She changed the course name, taught from Wikipedia, and gave the syllabus 5 weeks into the semester. She wastes a lot of class time sharing personal information and I always felt angry sitting in class.
Dr. Thames-Taylor is neither a competent teacher nor a scholar. She is very opinionated, self-absorbed, self-righteous and unprofessional. Nothing in class so far has related to what we are supposed to be learning. She is wasting the time and money of students and the university.
T3 was probably the worst professor I have ever had. She spent the whole class talking about life experiences that had no relevancy whatsoever. She changed so many rules and deadlines without mentioning anything including test and quiz due dates. Attendance was mandatory but out of the 200 or so questions on tests, maybe 20 she taught in class.
All she does is repeat herself and talk about stuff she can't even keep track of. You're only graded by quizzes tests and attendance. Her lectures are boring and hard to focus. She does really care about what she is teaching but she just gets so off track then blames it on us. It's a gamble when she decides to take attendance but you get 3 absences
if i have to hear her say "what happens is" one more time i might freak out. i swear she says it every other sentence. don't take her
I have never been so
I have never hated or been so frustrated by a professor in my life. Makes you memorize a 22 page syllabus just for her to pick and choose when she follows it, uses class time to talk about herself, and has not uploaded a single thing in a timely manner. She should not be a professor at this university.
Shows up late every single class, lectures are dumb, she pulls everything from wikipedia and calls that teaching. Changes due dates and assignments and guideline's and expects us just to know. Got no feedback until finals week, thanks for the feedback now when its useless. feedback is rude, unprofessional and personal. Extremely hard to talk to her
You will not know a single grade until the last three days of the semester, you will learn more about Tonya's p
Easily the worst teacher I ever had. She was late to class everyday and used the rest of the time to talk about her personal life that had 0 relevance. I was lucky if she ever even talked about the material. She taught so little that nothing on the final was covered and then said we were not entitled to know what was on it. Never take her.
Dr. Taylor was an amazing teacher. When she teaches i can tell that she truly loves what she does and cares so much about what she is teaching. i would take her again she was amazing!
I usually try to give positive reviews, but this professor is just plain awful. She changed the due date of the FINAL EXAM the week it was due which killed my grade, used 70% of the class time to ramble about her personal life, literally never brought up some crucial exam material, and got incredibly rude if you didn't do optional assignments
She was ALWAYS late to class yet would always rant about how disrespectful it is for people to be late or to not show up to class. She constantly changes due dates and policies and expects you to know. She makes you memorize her complicated 20 page syllabus yet chose when she wanted to follow it. Her class was incredibly frustrating
I don't recommend her at all. This is probably the worst class ive ever taken in my life. She teaches by google and searches everything up. Then she expects us to find her "lectures" that she has taught in the past that she doesn't teach now. Like how are we supposed to learn. My whole class was completely lost and doesn't understand a thing.
she's always late but gets mad when her students are late or don't show up( even if they are sick). she teaches from google and it's the biggest waste of time. she expects you to follow her syllabus but she doesn't even follow it herself so due dates are always wrong. if you want to be extremely frustrated this is the class for you!
Genuinely one of the most frustrating teachers I have ever had in my entire life. She literally glazes the absolute hell about herself and always starts class talking about emails and messages students have sent to her about how good she is, tries to embarrass you in front of the class, she YELLS when she teaches, LONG syllabus, talks in circles.
While her class is very interesting, she continuously goes off track in class, talking about herself, her family, just anything that is not about the course. She does not stick to the syllabus either so I have no idea when anything is due until she randomly mentions it day of. So much of her feedback makes no sense and is horribly unhelpful. So Bad
