Good prof, but you should still probably give the chapter a read if you want an A. Does great reviews before tests and will often give extra points on tests. Grades on an awesome curve where, say, if the highest score received on the test was a 47/50, a 47 would be considered 100%. Miss more than 4 lectures & you won't get anything higher than a B.
Professor Levy is very easy going and the overall work is moderate. If you read each chapter and watch the videos she posts, you will do well. Also, you need to think for yourself. What I liked was how she asked, in some of the questions, how I felt about the various issues and wanted me to support my beliefs.
Great teacher. The content was engaging and a lot of the assignment questions were opinion based so as long as you gave a thoughtful response you get full points. I took the class online and it was organized and any time help was needed, Professor Levy responded within a day.
Professor Levy is intelligent, articulate, and passionate about the subject. We had great discussions in class. She focused on relevant information and she skipped over repetitive nonsense. You will have to read the chapter, but she also gives great reviews. I thoroughly enjoyed this class, even though I had no prior interest in the subject matter.
Prior to taking political science, I did not know much about the subject and did not realize how much content there was to the course. With 14 years of experience, Mrs. Levy is able to expertly combine political history with current issues. Mrs. Levy is excellent both in class and online. Helpful, smart, well-dressed= great professor.
This class was excellent. I would recommend taking this teacher to anyone.
I'll be the downer. I had a lot of problems with her. I would email her and though she got back quickly they were always dismissive, despite me not being the only one having trouble. Not a horrible professor, she is clear in what she wants. Text is a must for tests (online at least.) Lots of assignments but relatively easy to complete.
The course material she chose for the class offered various ways of learning the material and helped to offer a further insight into the material which was very helpful. She always responded to my questions and/or emails very quickly. I would take a course with her again.
Ms Levy was very clear in her course expectations and as long as you did the work and stuck to her schedule, it wasn't too difficult. She was always very prompt in replying to emails with questions and very helpful.
Took 6 week class, it was a ton of work. if you are taking other classes keep in mind for the 6 week class there week about 16 assignments each week including 2 or 3 quizzes. lots of writing, quizzes also include essay answers. discussions are 10% of grade. Many addition assignments from email, can be hard to manage. She is however a fantastic pro
Reading the textbook is not a problem for me. However, Mrs. Levy has hour an a half videos that you HAVE to watch for answers on these chapter quizzes. I would rather read the text book and read through a power point than watch three different videos (at least an hour long) and read through 3 different chapters. It is just a lot of work.
I really liked her class, the only problem I had was that she had extreme feminist ideas. She made every class about feminism, not that that's a problem, but I really wish she would incorporate other views into her lectures.
Way too many assignments! Easy test online. A lot of her questions are worded very poorly. Most confusing class I took at CSN.
Mrs. Levy is a fantastic professor. There isn't any homework. Only 5 tests, one of them is a take home. She goes over everything you need to know before each test so as long as you study you'll get an A, and she grades on a curve. There's a final research paper but it's fairly easy and you have freedom to chose your topic.
Awesome professor, would take again.
She claims it takes her a week to grade the written assignments doesnt happen ever. she grades tough by the time you get feedback its too late. She disables your grade so you cant see your overall grade and everytime i ask her for my grade she beats around the bush and doesn't tell me. not helpful either, always says to just reread the book
Professor Levy is easily one of the best professors I have ever had! She's incredibly well-spoken, knowledgeable, helpful, and kind. Each of her lectures are interesting and generate great discussion. Five exams (highly reviewed; one is take home), one research paper, and a brief presentation. I would HIGHLY recommend taking her class. It's great!
I've never met a professor as passionate about their class as she was. Amazing lectures that tied in to modern-day issues and only four tests the entire semester. Great class.
Online Three chapter exams (200+ pts each), 8-10 hmwk assignments and a discussion post all in a 9-10 day period. lots of reading. hmwk is hard, some opinion based, 2-4 essays, along with some multiple choice. She does alot of simulations for the hmwks. this class is very time consuming. I don't recommend taking it along with any other classes.
This online class is tough. Many long homework assignments including essays from videos and reading assignments. chapter tests and weekly discussions. This class is very crammed so you have to be careful with your time management or you will get behind.
Not a good teacher. Confusing lectures. Teaches like a philosophy class then gives tests on textbook only. Don't take this class.
She's a cool person in general, but her tests are really tough, lengthy, and specific. She gives a lot of extra credit opportunities which is cool but her tests are super difficult. She goes very strictly off the book and you'll basically fail if you don't study it. I wouldn't recommend if you're looking for an easy A.
Amazing lectures, very engaging professor. Took what could have been a hard subject and made it interesting. No tests, only essays and final research paper. Loves to have a good discussion and can handle a classroom well. Went off syllabus a few times, which was a little confusing but overall a great class.
One of my favorite professors so far. Attendance is not necessary but the textbook is. As long as you study you should pass. Grades on a curve.
She was so good, that I almost changed my major. Seriously if you don't get an A or a B, you are just lazy. She is very straight forward and she gives you plenty of time to study. She is engaged, and very passionate about politics. Take her. You won't regret it!!!!
She is a really nice teacher but the book is really hard to read/understand. There are a lot of discussions and she grades them weird. She has mini quizzes that are easy but don't do much to your grade.
Lectures were fascinating, the professor engaged everyone in discussions about the material and how it related to current events. I took her in Fall 2015 and again this semester and hopefully will take her in Fall 2016 semester as well. Absolutely loved this teacher!
I have never felt like I needed to write a rating as much as I do not. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS ONLINE. PLEASE. Literally almost every chapter is EXPIRED, so you have to email for technical support every assignment. All of her work is dated from 2008-2011, no recent info at all. It's like she uses the same lecture stuff EACH SEMESTER. No rubric.
I don't recommend you take her. Not online at least. if you want to pass, you MUST read the TEXT book. Long and boring chapters and bases her class on the textbook mainly. I asked her multiple times about videos that were expired in her H.W. assignments and found her answers to be very rude. Not helpful.
Took Levy for her summer online course. Worst online class I've ever taken. Several of the homework links were broken and she did absolutely nothing to solve the problem or to provide an alternative. Class is textbook heavy and the reading is dull. Keep textbook handy when taking a test and you'll be fine as questions are straight from the book.
Worst class EVER! She is rude, disorganized and does nothing to help her students. Course is outdated, links to homework assignments don't work, her grading method is confusing and if you question it she will never respond. She talks down to you when she does respond. Assignments took weeks to be grade. Avoid her if you can!
There is so much work for this class and she doesnt give a clear grading criteria for the hw. if you ask something she will respond on the same day usually but wont give a clear answer. The entire course I was basically clueless about my grade because she graded stuff so wild. Too much stress for one class.
I just wanted to take the time to write and say how this has been the best online class that I have taken since Colorado Technical University. She is an amazing professor and I can tell she love what she do. I never wanted to take online classes with CSN before until this class. I love the videos that she has for viewing on every chapter.
Awful class! Just stay away from Professor Levy. All of her material is outdated. She is rude. Get ready to waste time researching her links as 90% of the links in the assignments are not valid anymore. Don't bother asking her for help because she will bite your head off. Homework isn't grade on a timely fashion.
Horrible, horrible. She wants you to call her to answer any questions which is a hassle and unprofessional. She will take off points that appear to be opinionated questions with no feedback even when you ask. Save the headache and stay away.
Ms. Levy is a very inspirational speaker and class was amazing. I was excited to go to class everyday. She is very nice and available, but you do have to put in work. She will reward you with a good grade if you are putting in the work and giving it your best. You won't regret taking her class.
I just finished Professor Levy's online class. She is respectful to even some of the students that were a little feisty. I learned a lot more about this country through this class. Levy was kind, gave ample time to do your work and was thoughtful of finals week (ending the course early). The class book requires a lot of reading (not her fault).
Prof. Levy is an amazing professor!! I'm so bummed I won't be required to take any of her other classes but defo take her of you need political science. She's passionate about teaching and gives you study guides to prep you for all of her exams. I love her teaching style!! Just read, do what's required and participate and you will pass!!
Very passionate!!
Professor is a caring professor who also presents a demanding class. You need to keep up or you can quickly fall behind. It is challenging but fun. Her material is well prepared and easy to follow. I thoroughly enjoyed her class.
I took PSC as a high school credit and this teacher almost made me want to major in political science. So passionate about her subject and caring for students. I got an A in this class because she covers all questions on tests during lectures so just show up and guranteed A.
She's fair, does everything by the book, wants everyone to succeed, and is determine to have everyone understand the lessons she teaches.
Very personable, and responds quickly to emails. This class requires a lot of reading, but her quizzes are fair, and she gives you great review questions. I definitely recommend.
No feedback at all. She would take off points and never say why. I asked several questions and never got a reply. Worse professor I ever had
Levy is the WORST professor that I have ever had. All of her material is outdated she is completely unorganized and rude. Going to her lectures are a waste of time because all she does is test from the book. She does not post grades online unless you are in an online course. She spends most of the time talking about herself rather than lecturing.
She is amazing! When she lectures it sounds as if she's speaking in poetry! So inspirational! I would take her class a million times again!
Pretty easy class. I did get bored at times with the long lectures.
I did not have a good experience with Professor Levy. She is always very quick in getting back to her students when they email her with questions, but she is not typically clear in her responses. It was an online class, so I understand that most of it is on my own, but I was more confused after asking a question than I was beforehand. Try to avoid.
I took her PSC101 and PSC295 class. She is an unresponsible professor I have ever had. She has 7-10 pages final paper. On the syllabus, we were supposed to have a test every week. But she has never obeyed the syllabus. So we didn't know when we had tests until a week before the test. Her attendance policy was really strict.
Overall I wish I could have gotten this class online because she is an awful prof in person. She progressively cared less and less every class and she fell asleep in the front of the class 3 times while showing videos that had no relation to her notes. The tests are directly from the textbook and so are the notes. If you can get this class online
Great teacher! The discussions we did online really helped me to learn to care about what we were studying.
Excellent Professor you would enjoy taking. I learned a lot. It is a very straight forward class. Straightforward exams with a clear rubric provided.
Professor Levy is one of the best professors Ive ever taken. Her lectures are very thought-provoking and I find myself thinking about the content spoken months afterwards. The discussions I still remember and they were very interactive and engaging. I really encourage any student to take Professor Levys American Government Course. #Amazing
I took political philosophy was Professor Levy. I never thought I could understand philosophy but Professor Levy made everything very clear and accessible. She would break things down in laymans terms. Not only do I now understand political philosophy and various theorist I actually love the topic now and find myself regularly rereading the text
Amazing professor. Had to re-take this class so I decided to do it online. Lots of homework assignments but all the chapter tests are online and you can do them at home. No final exam just a final research paper at the end of the semester. I learned a lot from this class as well. I would highly recommend
She the best, would love to take her class again
If you want to listen to someone who knows everything about pol. philosophy and it very engaging, her class is for you. Professor is brilliant and delivers in a clear and entertaining manner. If you need structure and clear grading criteria, you may want to look elsewhere, as I'm still not sure what the requirements were for some of the assignments
Prof Levy was pretty good! She had a clear grading criteria but definitely assigned a lot of reading. There was no midterm for the class, but there was a final 6 pg paper and a couple of presentations during class. Also about 4 papers each 3 pgs long throughout the semester that acted as quizzes. Overall, good teacher and moderately difficult class
Professor Levy is one of the best professors up ever had. So far Ive taken every class that shes talked and I encourage you to do the same.
Professor Levy is very engaging and caring for her students. I was in her class this Fall and I went to her office hours. She always listened and provided impromptu tutoring on any concept or topic I needed help with. I appreciated this and she stuck to her syllabus, four in class exams and one final research paper. I loved that, straight foward.
She is an outstanding Professor who I was fortunate to take as she taught me how to learn and think critically. I have taken every class she has taught both upper and lower division courses. I highly recommend you do the same.
Professor Levy was amazing! There is a lot of work but none that is very hard at all and she gives you 2 weeks to complete a set of assignments (SUPER EASY). Easiest final research paper EVER. This is the one class that I felt no pressure at all.
Professor Levy is amazing I highly recommend her lots of reading and lecturing but its political science shes simply the most caring professor who will take the time to help you if you dont understand
Professor Levy is well respected in her degree. She has given numerous lectures all around the country. I was honored to have her as my instructor. She is very straight up and is understanding. Her lectures are great and never boring. I am looking forward to taking her PSC 201 class next semester.
She teaches with lectures that are based on the readings, and while I'd recommend you do the readings it is possible to get away with not doing all of the reading. The biggest downside to her class is unclear requirements for assignments and grades not posted to canvas. Otherwise I loved her class and would highly recommend.
Professor Levy is brilliant. She teaches Political Philosophy PSC 200 in a way thats clear, useful for real world application and makes Political Philosophy engaging. I have now fallen in love with the writings of Machiavelli, Hannah Arendt, and Rousseau. Her in class lectures were amazing. I highly recommend her and any class she teaches.
I loved taking Professor Levy this past Fall in PSC 200. Im taking her again in the Spring, PSC 201. Shes clear and inciteful in her lectures. Shes fair and her exams are straight forward. Once you take her you will want to take every class she teaches. Outstanding Professor that you must take. I highly recommend.
I took Professor Levys in line class, OSC 101 and enjoyed the class. I took her six week summer session on line. The class was organized, very well structured and highly visual with current videos about politics etc. The in line discussions were extremely engaging. I highly recommend you take her.
Take her online! Teacher gave us an old outdated syllabus, so we never knew due dates until a week before. $100 for books. Good lectures but some days puts on an hour long video then falls asleep. Doesn't use canvas, so no one ever knew their class grade. No homework, graded on 4 exams, 1 research paper, 1 presentation, inquizitive and attendance.
Professor Levys PSC200 Course is amazing. I took her last fall and I wish I could take her again. I transferred to UNLV and what I learned in Political Philosophy PSC200 Im still applying the concepts in other courses. The class is phenomenal and the in class discussions we had were amazing. I highly recommend for all students!
Amazing professor, not strict/easy to get along with. Extremely passionate for political science/philosophy, and it shows. PSC 200 class consists of lecture on a philosopher (Professor Levy speaks, there are rarely powerpoints, just videos), followed by class discussion. Grading consists of 4 take-home essays of 3 questions each + 1 research paper
Many times I wish I passed away so I wouldn't have to take this online class anymore The syllabus is so outdated that you cant even tell the exact due dates on assignments on top of that there is no talk about the final exam being available as soon as class begins most assignments are locked, like I said outdated, ask a her q's & get petty answers
Professor Levy was a great teacher. As long as you do your work and study you'll be just fine. When you need her, she is there and returns emails fast. GREAT PROFESSOR!!
I personally only took PSC101 since it was a prerequisite. I went into the class knowing there was going to be a lot of information and reading. Especially in a 6 week summer semester. Prof. Levy truly cares about the class and wants her students to succeed. Weekly assignments and interactive discussions are a must. You will learn a lot. Recommend
She is very knowledgeable about politics and wants you to learn a lot. I took the class summer 2020 and I highly recommend her to those who know little about politics. It was a 6 week session and every week there's a quiz and discussion which are pretty easy. You get a fast response from her when you try to reach her. I would take her again!
Professor Levy has such a great personality. She super sweet and she has a big heart. She makes the lectures fun and super engaging or even inviting. She gets down to business and she very aware of the time and place. I loved taking her class. Highly recommended.
This teacher is the pettiest person I have ever met. I had questions about the Norton InQuizitive program she uses. She refused to help and not only did she not provide helpful feedback, but she literally copied and pasted her last response. I even showed screenshots of me trying to follow her instructions. She is confusing in every way possible.
I took Professor Levys course Fall semester 2020. Her course was one of the most organized online classes Ive ever taken. She provides thorough and very quick feedback. She is very accessible to her students. You have to read you have to participate in the online discussions and there is a very clear grading criteria. I highly recommend!
I took Professor La Levys class PSC 101 online and it is extremely engaging. The content is current including weekly news quizzes of events taking place the exactly as it emerges. The textbooks assigned are current to include the current presidential election 2020. There are various types of assessments to improve a students learning outcome.
Worst class I've taken. Very lazy and puts no effort into responding/outlining expectations and relies solely on the automatic computer process to grade. Some of her quizzes have the wrong answers marked as correct and won't get back to you when you reach out to correct the grade. I would NOT take this professor as she has unrelaistic expectations.
Keeps the class up to date on politics. Class is self-guided, read the textbook, take the quizzes, reply to the discussion boards, one research paper. Do not bother asking the professor a question because you will get a petty response. A link was not working and when I asked why, I was told I was skipping ahead of the class when I clearly wasn't.
The reviews saying shes petty is very true. She has such potential to be an amazing professor. Just dont ever ask her for help of any kind. Got zeros on assignments I actually did. Wouldnt take again but it wasnt the worst thing Ive ever had to do!
There is a lot of content: readings, homework on InQuizitive, quizzes, exams, 2 discussion postings, etc. The discussion topics ramble on and it's tough to figure out what needs to be addressed in them. Don't bother asking questions about quizzes having wrong answers /clarification on any assignments, because all you'll get is unprofessional grief.
Professor Levy's lectures were eye-opening and absolutely pleasant to listen to. She is a real gem of a professor and would take her again in a heartbeat for her personality, knowledge and level of care she takes with her students. I took PSC 200 and there were no tests, only 5 Essay-Exams that have 3 questions each, and a midterm and final paper.
She makes you buy her book as well as the course book. She wants to indoctrinate her beliefs on to you. Terrible. Waste of money.
Professor Levy is a wonderful instructor. The discussions are amazing and I learned an a lot. I dont know why theres any bad reviews here because honestly this is the best course Ive ever taken and Im about to graduate. She is accessible has a clear grading criteria and is extremely fair in the grading process.
I took Professor leave his online class and had a wonderful experience. During this pandemic it has been very difficult yet her class is magical, clear and flows extremely well. The online class is extremely organized and I enjoyed the discussions especially from the social justice anthology created by the professor. You will learn a lot!
I took Professor leave his minority Politics class PSC201 and thought it was the most amazing class Ive ever taken. Im about to graduate in June and this class transform my way of thinking. The conversations and the lectures were absolutely inspirational. I changed my major to political science after taking this class. Outstanding professor!
I took Professor Levys online class and had a wonderful experience. During this pandemic it has been very difficult yet her class was organized, structured and flowed very well. The online class is extremely organized and it was what I enjoyed the most and the online discussions. I loved the social justice anthology she created. Youll love it!
I took PSC 201- Minority Politics with Prof. Levy. The textbooks that we utilized were incredible. I am finishing up my senior year in college at UNR and I still reference those textbooks. What I learned in this class transformed my way of thinking and opened my consciousness. Professor Levy is a social justice activist and now Im one.
I took introduction to American Politics and Government- PSC 101 in person with Prof. Levy. I will say that I really understand Politics, Policy and the impact that average citizens have in the political process. I really enjoyed reading the anthology she created, Social Justice Movements. I learned so much in this class with her. Our voice matters
I took Professor Levy and I am so glad that I ended up taking every class that she taught. The in class discussions were absolutely phenomenal with my fellow peers and Professor Levy guiding the discussion. She really knows her stuff and thats why I learned so much! She really cares about her students and to this day I reach out to her for advice
What I loved about this class on Minority Politics- PSC 201 is the content we read revealed so much about institutional structures in American Politics and the impact on Government. For example the way that laws are a reflection of the culture is powerful. Take this class w/ Prof. Levy!
Professor Levy was absolutely one of the best Professors Ive ever had at CSN. I have taken everything she teaches including the upper division 200 level courses. I highly recommend that before you leave CSN take as many courses with Professor Levy as you can. Her lectures are phenomenal and class discussions are amazing!
I took PSC 201 - Minority Politics with Professor Levy and it was by far the best class Ive taken at CSN. I ended up taking every class taught by Prof. Levy including PSC 200 and 210 (Political Philosophy and Public Administration. I am so thankful to have been taught by Professor Levy. I learned a great deal and still use the textbooks.
I loved taking Introduction to American Government and Politics with Professor Levy. The discussions were amazing. The context of what we learned and read was very eye-opening. Usually when I take classes we barely read the assigned textbooks but in this class the entire book was taught including supplementary readings. A phenomenal class love it!
Professor Levy has very clear instructions and grading criteria. All you have to do is follow the instructions and you will do well in the course. You have to read and you have to analyze information. There is a rubric for all assignments and she gives excellent detailed feedback. Her class is not for slackers but for those who want to learn.
This class is super easy, just keep up with the tedious homework.
I took Professor Levys Minority Politics class PSC 201 and literally everything that she has taught. I am so thankful that I did because now that I have transferred over to UNR not only do I still use the textbooks that I bought for her class but the knowledge I learned has really enhanced my understanding in other classes especially in Poli Sci.
What I love most about the Minority Politics class PSC201 were the engaging discussions facilitated by Professor Levy. She encourages all perspectives and doesnt push her opinion on you This was the one class that I truly felt free to discuss my conservative views. I loved the readings and still reference the textbooks used in the class, the best
This class PSC 201, Minority Politics taught me about how laws , public policies and politics intertwine and impact average citizens. This course really prepared me for law school. I still reference the textbooks read and assigned for the class. I am so grateful that I took this class with Professor Levy. She teaches with substance and depth.
This class was very enlightening. As a Computer Engineering student I thought this class wouldnt really matter to much, just need to pass and move on. Boy was I in for an everlasting imprint that I can use in life, very engaging. Professor Levy really opened the door and created that safe space every class should have to fully participate.
Although I was not a Political Science major before I took a class with Professor Levy after I took PSC 101, I literally took every class that she has taught including Minority Politics, PSC 201. I have also changed my major to Political Science and Im finishing up my degree at UNLV. Shes amazing. I have learned from her classes that we matter!
Taking a class with Professor Levy is completely transformative. Everything she teaches is empowering and conscious raising. Her emphasis on teaching from an inclusive standpoint allows the voices of marginalized to be heard. I deeply appreciated that. We studied so many diverse Political Philosophies from around the world. I was truly empowered!
I was worried about taking a course in Political Philosophy PSC 200. However, Professor Levy taught the course in such a way that I learned about traditional political philosophic thought and Political Philosophy from across the diaspora. I learned content that now in graduate school I am studying. This class should be a requirement for graduation.
You will learn a lot in Professor Levy’s class! She is very passionate about what she teaches and she engages everyone really well.
Lots of reading, but super easy class! She's very open about how she feels about politics. Levy wants you to be informed. Lots of homework quizzes that allow you to get a 100%, tests are usually 60 questions with quizzes in between. You have to buy her books because you will need them. Also weekly discussions but they are easy. Great professor!
I took this class online and Professor Levy was amazing and the class was outstanding. I learned so much from this online class. In fact it was the best online class I have had at CSN. I wish she taught more classes online. You will not regret taking PSC 101 online with Professor Levy.
This was the absolute best class I have ever taken at CSN. Professor Levy made this class one that I will never forget. I learned so much about our government, democracy and American politics. I wish I had taken this class when I first started college because it is so important for every citizen to know their rights and understand the Constitution.
I really enjoyed this 6week class. Since it is a summer class I wasn't surprised that it was lecture heavy. There is no final exam or essay, it's all quiz chapters and discussions post that is worth 20%. The professor did have a problem with answering in a timely matter but otherwise, I passed this class with an A.
Professor Levy teaches PSC 200 in a way that incorporates the philosophy of women and various cultures in the study of ancient Political Philosophy. In my classes now at the University, I use her texts that we read in class and reference my notes. I learned more than what I anticipated and have become more politically conscious. Highly recommend!
Do not take her psc101 class if you do not like taking tests.. Requires a 60 question test for every chapter (there is 17 chapters total) which are based solely on the textbook and they take forever to do! Inquizitives required for every chapter as well which were annoying and time consuming. The rest of the work was easy. Wouldn't take it again.
PSC 201 Minority Politics was an eye opener and incredible class to take. I took it as an upper division elective. It was the last class I took at CSN. I am so thankful that I took this class. I now understand the intersection of laws policy and government. The texts used in the class I still reference as a graduate student. Prof. Levy is awesome!.
I loved taking PSC 101 online with Prof. Levy. The class is structured in an organized and engaging manner. The online discussions help you connect with the readings and lived reality. It is easy to navigate this class and I had fun taking the course while learning about government and American politics. Highly recommend taking with Prof. Levy.
I took PSC 101 online with Prof. Levy and it was a very engaging and informative online course. It was organized and straightforward. The readings and tests assigned were straightforward if you read the text. The online discussions were extremely engaging. I highly recommend this class with Prof. Levy
Terrible professor, condescending, self-centered, and just outright arrogant. Her teaching structure is nothing short of being convoluted. Save yourself the stress and stay far away from this professor.
LOVE Professor Levy! She is so passionate & knowledgeable on anything Political Science, I took her Minority in PSC class& learned so much. She doesn't overdo the work; we only had written "exams" due every month or so& one final research paper at the end. She's not a harsh grader at all, I got 100% on everything. Cannot say enough good things.
Don't do this class if you won't have time for it. I had no final or midterm as of 2023 though. 60-question test per chapter plus one discussion per unit. There is extra credit. Recommend taking it with friends. Confusing prompts for discussions. 7/10
This online class is simple and straightforward with interactive homework on Inquisitive that takes a while to complete for every chapter. You have a quiz for each chapter and have multiple tries. There is also a timed exam for each chapter you can only take once. A big chunk of your grade depends on discussion posts.
Second time taking Professor Levy. Class itself can get kind of boring because she mostly just reads off of a piece of paper, but there's small discussions throughout. Make sure you take good notes to use for essays. There's no weekly assignments, just 4 essays plus a final research paper. She posted a couple extra credit assignments as well.
The course itself is easy but very boring. Professor Levy is nice and very approachable and gives extra-credit assignments that you can take advantage of. However, I found kind of weird that the course image on Canvas is a selfie of herself.
Overall a decent class. Stay on top of your work and you'll do just fine. If you have other obligations outside of school, I would not recommend taking this course as it requires a lot of reading & quizzes! There is a 60 question test after each chapter but she gives you a 2-3 week window to complete everything assigned for the chapters.
I took Professor Levy online class last summer and was really glad that I did because it was a pretty straightforward and easy class to navigate. I learned a lot and highly recommend you take this class.
Prof. Levy is brilliant! I loved her online PSC101 class. I took this class with another professor and hated it. I did not do well. I actually began to enjoy politics and studying government after taking this class with Prof. Levy. The class was organized and flowed systematically. The discussions helped me to understand American Government.
In PSC 101 I learned a lot that I did not understand about government and politics. There are exams after every chapter, but it is open book and open notes. You are instructed to read the text before taking any test. There are lecture notes, chapter outlines and detailed video analysis about all of the course material. I highly recommend Prof. Levy
Professor Levy is an outstanding faculty. I am thankful to have taken PSC 101 online with her. The course was organized, engaging and very structured. There is more than enough time to complete course assignments. I was glad to see a professor that was a woman and an African American. I learned a lot. I highly recommend.
This teacher is honestly great and I would take her again. She is very caring of her students and she also gives extra credit. Her assignments are tough because she does give a lot. Like 3 chapters with a video quiz, chart reading quiz, and a chapter test. But overall, if you don't slack off you'll pass.
Minority Politics, PSC 201 was an incredible class taught by Professor Levy. The textbooks used I still keep in my personal library because I learned so much about our history, the political reality of American Politics as it applies to our laws and public policy. This course helps you to understand fully the reality of American Government.
Minority Politics, PSC 201 with Prof. Levy was truly the best upper division course taken at CSN. As a recent graduate of UNLV I referenced the texts used in PSC 201 in many of my Political Science courses at UNLV. I learned so much in Minority Politics at CSN, it inspired me to attend law school. This course taught by Prof. Levy was outstanding!
I took every Political Science course required for the major with Prof. Levy. I took Women in Politics, Political Philosophy, Minority Politics, Introduction to American Government and her Social Justice course. I kept all my textbooks. Now that I am in law school, I have a wealth of knowledge and the foundation was laid in Prof. Levy's courses
This was definitely an easy A class but some of the questions for HW and quizzes would have weird extreme answers. If you lean right keep it to yourself in discussions and when answering questions, for a good grade.
This class was a pre req for me so I had no choice but to take it. I did not really enjoy this class every week there is a chapter reading 2 quizzes and one test. the quizzes are easy you have three attempts the test is 60 questions every week. There are also 2 discussions due every other week that are not your easy typical discussions.
This class, PSC 201was incredible. I highly recommend Professor Levy for any course taken in Political Science. She will expand your consciousness and understanding. The books selected are fire and now I'm in UNLV Law School, I still reference them.
This is my second time taking professor La Della Levy and she is absolutely phenomenal. Clear grading, lots of extra credit opportunities, and a fun environment to engage with classmates about the topics of class. I highly recommend taking her class and I'm happy to have had the pleasure to do so.
I hope her rating goes back up because she is very kind. I have ADHD and forgot a big assignment, but she excused it. I found her perspectives and topics introducing us to the political landscape to be very relevant and interesting, and I think if money weren't an issue I would actually want to take this class again just to absorb it a bit better.
Good teacher but tons of hw—takes 3 days a week to finish. Two discussions, 6 short quizzes, 3 timed tests (easy), and 50+ pages of reading each week. No final or papers you get 2 weeks to finish 20+ assignments but they're posted on the last week making it hard to work ahead. I learned a lot but it was very time consuming and frustrating at times.
Professor Levy is great! She cares about the subject that she's teaching and provides a lot of resources for information. There are opportunities for extra credit if you're willing to do some extra writing about videos that are relevant to the topic you're going over at the time. I really enjoyed the course and would take another class with her.
I took this class over the summer so it was a little easier, as it was only a 6 week course. She was a good teacher! She kept up on grading, which was nice. There were about 2 discussions and 3 tests a week. It sounds like a lot, but it was really not bad at all. Would recommend!
Took this class for Summer 2025 6-week course and it was a breeze. There were a good amount of discussion posts but they were all basically opinionated. You could tell the Professor wanted you to interact with classmates while giving you tons of freedom.
Professor Levy focuses on interaction when it comes to the discussions. Not only in your own posts but responding to others. The other course work like quizzes and tests were not overwhelming. Very easy to get done, but a lot of reading (which is to be expected). As long as you do your reading, no reason to not get an A. Would recommend!
