She is a smart professor, doesn't have the experience of US teaching. Very very helpful and kind. Is not her fault. It is school's !!! She taught 350 people. No time for questions. No time for real teaching. She is very helpful. I got a good grade, but I worked a lot for it. Sorry, no free As.

I took the online class and it was great. If you want to do well in the online class, all you gotta do is read the chapter (cca 30 min), watch the videos (cca 30 min), do practice exams & watch the video solution for questions you don't understand, and do quizes on time. Guaranteed to get an A, less time consuming than going to lectures.

She is a very nice person, clear grader and always ready to help. Gives a lot of material to make sure you are prepared. It's up to students to go over everything. But what else to expect from online class. Tests are tough. You can't just memorize stuff but have to understand. Workshops and reviews are great help for that. A lot of hw.

The course itself is tough; however, the online class provides you with all the required material to prepare you for each exam. If you lack of time management skills avoid this online class since you have to keep up with the course's learning program

I took this class fully online. We had review workshops twice a week that you could attend if you needed help. Tests are curved depending on class overall performance. Classwork is posted every Saturday and must be done before the due date. The class work consists of assignments posted on cengagebrain that are graded instantly.

Class was online and it was tough. Tough in the sense that you must teach yourself as well as complete the material. Assignments were due every week. There was a lot of reading involved. However the Professor was very helpful and the reviews. Thank God for the reviews! Commit yourself to the work and you will pass.

How to pass this online class: 1. Read the textbook. 2. Review the slides. 3. Watch ALL the videos. 4. Do the practice quizzes BEFORE you do the homework (HW is graded, too). 5. Attend workshops. 6. Practice the review exams over and over. What NOT to expect: A deeply engaged professor (She's nice, though).

This was my first online class and it was amazing! She is very clear with the things you need to do in order to pass. Watch all the videos and do all the homework on MindTap. She uploads past exams to help you practice for the 2 midterms + final. She curved to a B- during my semester. Go to the review sessions for the exams and you'll do great!

although homework quizzes due every work are slightly complicated she gives generous grading options for the coursand wants you to do well and get an A in the class. adding to my review earlier today, the curve on the final exam was a ridiculous 20 points. I think its impossible to not do well in this class if you give even a minutia of a Falk. It's also possible, though risky, to not do anything until the final. Teacher has a policy that if benificial the grade you get on the final exam is your final grade

Took the online class with Professor Placibo and Staneva. Teaches took the time to have study sessions with students and making in available on YouTube. Passed with an A and finessed my way to greener pastures.

Rubric grading: 25% each for 3 test and homework OR grade on final exam- course grade. Got a A in the class via the final exam- course grade method. Slacked during the semester with online assignments but reasonably easy to catch up via practice tests (provided) and online recitation. YouTube videos show step by step answers for practice test.

i never got used to having an online class bc of the amount of reading and assignments you had to do. However, despite skipping multiple mindtap assignments and getting really low grades on the Hw, before every test I made sure to print out all practice exams and worksheets and watched the review videos that are posted on piazza. Got an A

Pretty straight forward online class. HW is pretty tough but teaches a lot. You gotta be self motivated to do well in this class. 2 midterms and a final that are 25% each and she gives 3 practice tests and review sessions for each test. The curves for the tests are extremely generous. As long as you can study for the tests and do HW you're good.

This has been my first time taking an online course. I thought it was going to be extremely difficult and take up all my time. But it didn't, the class is amazing! Everything is straightforward as the work required is posted but the hw was pretty difficult in my opinion but easier than the hw assignments. She does grading by either counting all of the grades of the term or using just the final test grade if its higher. If you can do well on the final exam its an easy A

Homework on a weekly basis, does review sessions a week before every test and provides review material which is very helpful. Provides weekly workshops based on the lesson you were supposed to have read. Grade is composed of either your 2 midterms, homework, and final, or just your final, whichever is higher. Requires some studying, would retake!

I took the online class because all the other classes were taken. Exam 1 & 2, Final, Homework are 25% each. Or Risk only final grade counted whichever is higher. This class require lot of independent study. Review before the exams are extremely helpful. Homework is hard. Overall if you study hard, do the review and read the books. You will be fine.

She's a very nice professor with good curves on tests. This is an online class so it's mostly self taught but the test reviews are very helpful. There's always Piazza where students can discuss and ask questions and the professor usually respond within 2-3 hours. Definitely recommend her.

I took the online class and received an A if you ace the final you ace the class simple as that. She picks which grade if better final grade or rubric grade. She also assigns homework through mindtap which really helps with learning the material. If you do the online homework youll pass with and A. If youre good at math youll most likely do better.

Each week for the class, there are online videos you have to watch, a power point you have to view, and one or more online quizzes. There are review sessions each week, and practice tests for each exam. There are two in class exams and a final, all with a generous curve. Took as on online course. Quizzes every week, not too bad if you have the time to sit down and teach yourself all the material. Many chances for extra credit. Study groups before every test. 2 midterms and 1 final. I probably would have done better if it wasn't an online course.

Professor P communicated with us extensively throughout the term as this section was online. Readings and hw were due every wk & 2 in person midterms plus a final. The final was ridiculously hard but if u did well on the hws and midterms you were alright. She did curve the final. A solid choice and im sure if i took her in person id do even better.

Not a hard class, the homework is not quite heavy, curves a lot in exams. She is a very nice prof.

Great choice for econ1002. class was online. we had hws due every week which were fair. 2 midterms and a final. the midterms were similar to the review. if you follow her gameplan of studying you will do good.

You have to work for your A. Weekly assignments. Study from those online videos and you should be good.

At the end of the day the workload will fall on you since this is an online class. Just read the textbook and watch the videos and you will be fine. Like the other reviews mentioned she gives extra credit which is a plus.

I honestly have no idea where the low reviews are coming from. I took ECO 1001 online with her over this semester and thought she was a great professor, explained things thoroughly, and the B- curve saved me. If you actually did the homework and studied for the exams (even just a little), it isn't difficult to get a B in this class. I recommend.

You have so many chances to do well. SO MANY CHANCES. How the hell do you mess up? The FINAL REPLACES YOUR WHOLE GRADE. I took this class entirely online. Only midterm and final exams are in person. You will have weekly hw and four exams, including the final. Professor provides helpful reviews for each exam, study guide each week, videos on how to do the hw, etc.. She will answer any question you may have, but you still have to work for your grade.

The recent reviews are accurate for online Micro 1001. There are four exams, and two of them are in person. The curve sets the average grade to a B-, so it helps. The weekly homework is time-consuming. Overall, I would recommend this class.

Really good professor. Her difficulty level is only high cause microeconomics is an intensive class and super hard. That being said, she gave all the necessary material/coursework to learn it and was open to more chances/extra credit. Her tests are exactly like her classwork it's just a matter of how much work you're willing to put in. Would retake

I took her for micro in the winter (hybrid) and summer macro fully online. You have to get the txtbook for mindtap assignments, but it's free points so. People did better on the macro exams but because the median was high we actually got curved down but we got curved up with the same curve in micro. Just be aware that the curve can go both ways

I started off reading the book & not listening to the lectures but that was a mistake. If you have to choose one, listen to her lecture videos on youtube. She breaks it down really clearly & covers the most relevant material. If you do that & the exam prep every week, you'll be fine. The homework is unhelpful, harder than, & unrelated to the tests!

Her ECON-UB 10 Course is perfect. The workload is relatively huge in the first month but will be fine thereafter. I'm the only freshman in this intermediate-level course and I got an A. If I can do it, I think you can do that too.

She is a very nice professor with a very clear explanation for each question. By reading the PPT she provided, and do all the practice, it is easy to pass. She also provided 3 grading policy and she will be based on your grade to see which policy was best for you. Also, she will curve the exam, so you don't need to worry about not passing her class

The material is intense. The class was asynchronous so it made it more difficult. However, the exams are curved along with the final so it's not hard to pass with a good grade. Professor wants you to do well especially cause her grading is not bad. She gives you the highest grade based on three grading methods.

Almost impossible to fail this class, a class curve of B- brought my grade to an A+. There was also extra credit posting to class forumn.

She provide us with clear powerpoint slides and lecture videos, just read them and do the homeworks on Mindtap then its an easy A, she even give out extra credits and there are so many ways you can succeed in this class.

Took this course in winter; departmental Final 50% and MindTap works 50%. The Final is 40MC questions in 2 hours. Final is much easier than practice tests. so do the work and you will be fine. Prof is willing to help and respond soon. Make some efforts and you will be fine for this course though she grades based on ranking.

You literally have to try to fail. Professor gives a ton of opportunities to pass with a high grade including using three different grading policies and posting whichever yields the highest grade for you. Also curves exams with a pretty high median score. Gives way more than enough materials per chapter to work with including review and exam prep

This class is really a hard class. However if you study hard for the final you should be good. Look at past practice exams on sacc to help prepare and focus on last final chapters. She gives very generous curves and this class is asynchronous but she has zoom meetings

Best eco class ever. I took this in fall 21 async at Baruch with professor Placido & Ahmadi. Two midterms, one final, and a weekly 10 question hw with 3 attempts. The grading system is amazing. You can literally fail the first two exams not do any hw and if you get a 100 on the final, that will be your final grade. I highly recommend these profs.

I took her for ECO 1001/2, but behavioral econ was different. Instead of big exams, we had weekly quizzes (she drops the lowest 3) worth 70% of our grade and one (group or individual) research project worth 30% of our grade. The quizzes were hard, but better than taking exams. She helps w/the project step by step. Hard class, but not impossible

This course was very dense and difficult to learn but the grading policy made it a bit easier. There were 3 different grading methods and the one with the highest result was chosen. There were large test curves but that depends on how well the section does (it's a notoriously difficult course). Homework was quiz-like and good practice for tests.

Pretty clear and straightforward, Got a B+, 0.1 points away from A-. Overall, it was easy.

Take her! This isn't an easy class but you will learn a lot from her. It is quite math heavy but its algebra, unless you've forgotten everything from HS then you'll be fine. The only calculus in this class is calculating derivatives. Pay attention, take good lecture notes, & do her problem sets. The math is hard if you don't know how to apply it.

1 midterm (20%) + 1 final (20%) + hw(40%) makes up your grade. The content is tough but she tries to clearly explain it. But she needs to improve explaining things in a clear concise way. In 1 lecture she will throw at least 10 concepts, it does get overwhelming. Hw was super hard. I would spend 5 hours on each even though it's done in groups.

Pf. Placido is a well-organized individual. Her class is clear and the way she constructs her class makes the challenging material easy to follow. She is responsive outside of the classroom. She even takes steps further to help students succeed their aceramic goals. I took her intermediate micro and will continue to study with her.

Took this class as a summer course. Very organized teacher. Watch lectures on each chapter to learn concepts and then in class (in person, zoom, or asynch) she reviews practice problems that help a lot for the exams. Tests are hard but are departmental. She gives a nice curve and has 2 grading systems in order to give you the highest grade possible

I took for summer. Its a very tough class, but Professor was gracious, gave us multiple tries on homework and curved upward so that class average is B. Shes also accessible outside and kind.

I took Micro asynchronously so that I could get it out of the way but professor Placido has zooms once a week to go over the material which is very helpful along with guided youtube videos for the weekly notes. I would sign up for her class if I were you.

I passed the exams without watching the zoom videos. All you need to do is go over the lecture videos and extra practice that they provide by Ted Joyce.The questions on the exam are similar to the questions she gives for the weekly quizzes so make sure to go over those questions.This class has a lot of math so make sure to write all equations down!

Very intensive 3-week winter class. Offers asynchronous recordings and materials. Fairly generous on curving the final grade if the class performed badly. Her syllabus grading policy is simple and interersting on knowing what grade to achieve whenever the exam date is.

If you work hard, participate, do your homework, ask questions if you don't understand something, prof.Placido will be your best bet. Materials were very organized, grading was very clear. Learned a lot during this very intense 2023 Winter session. Would recommend if you can organize yourself and don't procrastinate. Gave curves.

I took her for Winter semester hybrid asynch, attendance was not mandatory as she posts recordings of her lectures. Micro is tough but her lectures made it manageable. Final was hard. She has 3 grading strategies: low risk: Midterm 25% Final exam 35% Homework 40%; moderate risk: Midterm 40% Final 60%; high risk: Final 100%. Would recommend :)

I highly recommend taking this as a summer class. It was very easy and manageable. We had three attempts for each assignment, with the highest one counting. The midterm & final exams were both online (25 questions), each lasting for one and a half hours (35% each). HW 30%. Requires a lot of work, but it eventually became easy by the end. Curved.

Grading is fair and flexible, Attendance wasn't mandatory, HW helps with exams, plenty of resources provided.

Overall the course wasn't too tolling, can easily score in the B range without putting in much effort.

Took it asynchronous online. Weekly 10 question quizzes based on posted chapter readings. Everything is honestly google-able or Chegg-able, but you get 3 attempts and the highest one is scored. Pretty easy content to digest and midterm/final were on Blackboard as well. Hosted virtual review sessions on Zoom if you need too.

35% midterm, 35% final, 30% hw, all cumulative so could you make sure you're doing it on time. She is not the worst or the best, but she curves the test heavily and gives 3 redos on each hw. However, I'd study on the midterm and final since they're worth a lot.

Professor Placido is nice. The material at moments can be a little tricky but she holds Friday sessions to go over the material of that specific week. This class is what you make of it. If you put in the work, you will be fine.

Professor Placido is great. She teaches the material that ECO 1001 requires. Yes it can get tricky but if you put in the work you will be fine. Ignore the negative reviews, those people think that they would receive an A by bs'ing their way through the class and not actually studying. Go to tutoring, do your homework, study, go to workshops.

I want to write a short story and write her in as a character. Loved her marisol hats and matching dresses. She has the best sense of humor. She literally brought us McDonald's breakfast the morning we took our midterm. So yeah, take this class if you can!

Prof was a great professor who was always very engaging. Material is tough but do as many of the practice tests as you can, there's no reason why you shouldn't get at least a B. Exams are pretty similar to the practice, but true/false can be tricky. For group discussions, we could only communicate with each other using hand gestures

This professor was the best teacher I've had through high school and college. She gave amazing lectures and included examples that we would understand and could relate to. Very helpful and responded to emails quicky. I felt very cared for and respected in this class, which made me want to have her again for Macro. I highly recommend her :)

One of the best college professors I've had. She teaches the course and its content very well and also gives very big curves that make it almost impossible to fail her class.

Class met online once a week, so I really struggled to find the motivation for this class. The workload is pretty light, and if you actually do it you'll be just fine. It's an interesting class and she's a great prof. I wouldn't take it again, just bc online classes don't work for me, but I would recommend the class if you don't mind being online.

Dr. Plac is very sweet human and her lectures are very clear. Gives extra credit for correcting your midterm mistakes. Accessible outside of classes and passionate about her own work. She always uses real life examples to explain the concept. Great professor. Take her and get to know her.
