Her class is not too hard to understand but her test is really hard. She twist the question too much. She talks a lot to make very understand but sometimes too much. The lab can be done in an hour but she takes it until the last minute because she talks more than an hour. She's very helpful. Better than other bio lecture teachers.

she's a great teacher. she knows biology. she takes the time to explain to her students. If you don't understand she will meet with you after class. However, you must study. I wish I had her for 201 because I probably wouldn't have had to take bio 201 three times. Also, at the end of the sem., she ask students opinion how to make her class better

She is a great "teacher". She knows how to do her job and she loves to do it. ALL her test are on her notes (so you don't need text book) and her test are multiple choice which makes it even easier. She makes biology as understandable as possible. I RECOMEND her to everyone... especially if you want to understand this subject and you want to pass

Whoever said a bad comment about this Professor is CRAZY, she is the BEST professor I have had and I only wish she taught A&P, I can't wait to take Nutrition to have her again as a teacher. If there were more teachers like her it would make my schooling a lot easier, LOVED HER. She is one of those few teachers that REALLY cares.

All of you that had wrote a bad review are nuts, she is the greatest professor alive, if all others were like her every single one of you would have A & B....she explains everything slowly, whenever you need help just ask her and she will go over the material just for you again. Dr. Karthikeyan is the best professor i had so far. She makes things very easy to learn. I don't even have to use any book, just her notes. Before every exam she gives a great review and it's hard to get anything lower than B in her class.

She's a good professor but the tests are tricky. She's also extremely strict with attendance. She loves class participation and explains well, but if you daydream in class she's not for you. She basically never used the lab book, so if you don't take notes you're screwed.

I hate biology but loved her class! She is without a doubt one of the best teachers! If you make an effort to take complete notes and understand the material, you will easily pass. Plus she makes every effort to help those who are sincere about doing well in class. There is no reason to fail unless you are really that lazy and expect a free ride.

laina karthikeyan aside from being a PHD in molecular biology is a researcher & an excellent profesor. She does teaching beacause she believs in it! Helpful, sweet, funny & strict. Only pay atention & use 10% of you brain to listen & you'll pass.

There aren't many professors out there like prof. Karthikeyan. She teaches with passion and believes in helping you understand and she will make sure you do too. She cares a lot about her students and not only in general but individually as well and will do what she can to help you pass. She reviews for her exams,make sure you take good notes!

This is not true. She treated us like we were nothing. I had to proved to her that i could pass the class even if i need extra time which she had a problem with. I fix her behind and she started seeing improvement in my grades. I pass the class.

The person w/the negative comments 7/12/08 is obviously a student who lacked the initiative to do well on their own. Prof K is one of the best! The only thing she doesn't do is the take test for you-she gives you everything to do well. Grow up and take responsibility for your inability to succeed in such an informative & enjoyable class.

If you here when she gives review you should have no problem when it comes to her test because shes basically giving you whats on the test, i had her last fall and i found it great the way she breaks the work down so you can understand.

The best of the best! Very sweet professor, with a passion for teaching biology. She is clear as can be and makes biology fun and enjoyable. Students are required to take notes and are given multiple choice exams for which she gives a concise review of what will be covered. Take Her! You will learn alot! U Will come out of the class loving Biology!

Simply put, she is a wonderful human being. Very understanding and easy to communicate with. I would love to take her classes again! I definitely learned more with her in lab class than I did in lecture and that is definitely saying a lot. Absolutely, do not hesitate to take her class.

the absolute sweetest. does many practice methods before exams. very explicit on whats going to be on her quizzes and even puts the same questions we use to practice. very easy class. 5 quizzes, 1 or two lab reports, no hw

Professor Karthikeyan is amazing. Why do I say that she is amazing I will tell you why. She tries to teach her students the best way she can. She make sure that what ever she is teaching will be on the test. She will give you a review sheet and still go over the material with you. She improved my understanding of Bio. I would take her class again.

This woman is amazing. It's a shame she only teaches BIO 1101. She gives reviews before hand and before the quiz. There are about 5 quizzes. The lab class is easy if you come to class and focus on her review. Write what she writes on the board which isn't much! You can tell she loves what she teaches and she loves being a teacher. Take her!!!!!!!!!

Shes a great professor , had her for online lecture class. She doesnt give hw. Theres about 3 exams 50 questions . Its very easy as long as you pay attention to the material.

Professor Karthikeyan is a great professor and she explained everything a way for you to understand. She makes you comfortable to ask questions and explain everything to you again. And follow her explanation and you will pass.

Good professor, just very unclear with lab report and the work that needs to be done, basically not clear. Gives quizzes and exams about 4 exams and 4 quizzes (summer term). Attendance is mandatory you need to attend. I didn't really understand much in the class.

Would definitely take a class with this professor again. She really cares! BIO itself may be a bit hard but she definitely does her best to help you understand. She also checks in on you and offers assistance if needed.

Dr. Karthikeyan is a great professor who cares about her students. This was a summer course with 15 weeks of information packed into 5 (not easy for teachers or students). As long as you attended class and paid attention, her expectations for assignments were clear and straightforward and the subject matter was easy to comprehend.

I love professor Karthikeyan! I took an online asynscronous class for Bio101/ lab. I was always bad with science but she simplifies the lectures in a way you can understand as long as you pay attention. She's always willing to help outside of class. Such a lovely and kind professor. Would highly recommend her!

Had her for lab/lecture during the summer and she is amazing! Shes human so shes not perfect but she genuinely does her best to accommodate each student. She deserves to be paid more and I even told her this in one of my first emails I sent her. I wish she taught more classes because Id take them all! Thank you Professor!

She is sweet & knows her information in and out. The asynscronous lecture part hard, it's prerecorded: take her both lab & class together so you don't get confused. She is a bit disorganized, starts & ends class late. Tests Qs are from bank, but she gives other easy assignments. She cares about her student, answers questions after class and email.

Professor Karthikeyan is by far one of the best professor citytech have right now. She is such a real gem. She made BIO1101 feels so simple. I passed the class with an A and would not be able to do it without her. She responds to email very quick if you are unclear about something she takes her time out of class to explain it. The entire class was online and pre recorded. You would have to watch the classes on your own accord. She would post the class recordings along with the lecture review, which can be used to help you with the online quiz and exams. You can take the quiz and exam whenever you can within the deadline. Her explanations and clear and good!

One of the best professors I've had at City Tech, very straight forward with her exams and lectures. You will pass her class as long as you do the readings and study.

It's impossible to fail even if you struggle w/ Bio. She provide review sheets, ppt slides AND do online review (records & post). Easy to reach, quick responder, provides clear material, tests are timed but never any tricky/random questions on exams. Gives 2+ days to do exams/quiz online. Use review questions as study sheet. 3 exams based on what she teaches. no hw/cw. straight foward exams. even if science is not your strong suit, u will do well in this class. the lecture is online, lab in person. as long as u attend class, read the review sheets/slides u will be fine. responds quickly. respectable, caring, & understanding.10/10 recommend this professor. no textbook

prof Laina is a very brilliant and remarkable woman. Her lectures are exciting and on point. lesson to all her recordings and make good notes as her test is based on her lectures. you will not be disappointed if you take her. her class is an easy A. no homework just attend and it's always good to participate. she will make sure you understand.

She's a great professor. Always understands when students need help or need a sudden change. When we had a lot of stuff happen in a span of a week she decided to turn the in person exam to online. She is an online exam savior and we love her for that. She kinda did stress us out bc of the last sec change but it was so worth it for everyone.
